Eat Sleep fantas See Eat Sleep Fantasy. Hello everybody, and welcome to
another episode of the Eat Sea FantasyFootball podcast. My name is Dale,
Thanks for joining us. It's justme today, guys. It's just me,
(00:46):
lonesome old Dale, because Clayton couldn'tget his schedule correct with me.
It's kind of my fault, butI'm gonna blame Clayton on air. Anyways,
Guys, we have a good episode. I look, I wasn't planning
on doing this, but a listenersent me in one of their mock drafts
that they did on fan tracks.By the way, it's fantracks dot com
slash eesf if you want to gettingon these mocks another fun fantasy stuff a
(01:08):
great platform there. So he sentme his mock draft, and he's like,
hey, can you break this down? Can you help me out?
I was like sure, and Iwas like, actually, let me create
some content around it, because hedid go on the fan tracks and do
it, and so I said, hey, you know, maybe we just
do this. I didn't ask ifI could put his name out there,
(01:30):
so I'm not going to. Let'scall him Dan, Okay, we'll call
him Dan the Man That maybe hisreal name. You never know it is,
it's real name. Anyways, hesent me his mock draft or yeah
it's mock. Dravon said, hey, tell me if I'm on the right
track or not. I'm getting readyfor my league. It's an important league
(01:51):
to him, and he wants tomake sure that he knows what he's doing.
And one of my advice. Idon't know why, but he one
of my advice. So I amgoing to break down his draft. At
least I'm gonna look at his firstseven rounds. I think the first seven
round. Look. I know, people say you win fantasy leagues, you
know, on round twelve or something. I don't know. I don't know
if that's really a saying, butI really I love looking at the first
(02:14):
seven rounds you can really see theteam shape up by then you could see
some mistakes. Look, sometimes thefirst round guys are hit or miss right,
Like, there's always going to bea bust in the first round.
Are you going to draft him ornot? Who knows and who? There's
no way you can predict injury orjust an overall bust. I guess sometimes
(02:34):
you can. I drafted James Connorreally early last year. Maybe I should
have seen the warning signs. Hedidn't really perform for me, But this
is what we're dealing with. Sohe sent me his mock draft on fan
tracks. I'm gonna tell him heis he mocked from the tenth spot.
I don't know if we did onelike that before. But really I'm gonna
talk about not only the tenth spot, but really the guys around that went
(02:58):
and really kind of try to talkabout his roster construction a little bit.
But so I'm gonna get I guess, right into it. Unless you guys,
you guys want me talk about somethingelse, you just get right into
the monk draft. They I'll getit right into the mock draft. Today.
I really have nothing. It's sohard for me to just talk all
about myself too, so I willI'll just get right into the monk draft.
I will tell you, let's getinto it. So looking at his
(03:22):
monk draft here, the first roundwent pretty much pretty easy. Tyreek Hill
went early at one oh five.I was a little surprised at that.
But besides that, the normal guysJustin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Christian McCaffrey
weren't really early one two three stuffon. Diggs went at eight, Barkley
went at nine, and his turnwas there was a tenth spot. He
(03:46):
got a J. Brown AJ Brownin the tenth spot, probably the last
of the really good wide receivers. There is Ceedee Lamb, Davante Adams out
there, but they're gonna be goneby the time he makes his turn back
to two oh three. So hehim grabbing AJ Brown. It is really
really for me at this point, would have been AJ Brown or Bejean Robinson.
(04:11):
I get both. I think aJ. Brown is a little safer.
I know people are probably gonna yellat me about that Bejean Robinson.
We just don't know, we don'tyou know. Yes, there's a very
good chance he's gonna explode. Thereis a good chance but AJ Brown is
safe and he's on a great offense, proven offense. Be John Robinson is
not, although maybe he can createhis own You know, we've seen running
(04:35):
backs create their own value and pooroffenses. I don't know why this offense
is gonna look like in Atlanta. But AJ Brown I think is an okay
choice here. AJ Brown, ifyou really like watching the Cowboys, are
really like the Raiders. You know, Davante Adams or CD Lamb is just
fine. But I really liked AJBrown pick here maybe a little unorthodox.
(04:59):
I don't if a lot of rankingshave a J. Brown, but I'm
okay with it. And like Isaid, be John Robinson was chosen right
after that, Cede Lamb and DavanteAdams were chosen, so back at the
turn, he wouldn't have gotten Robinsonor the other elite wide receivers. So
I think he did a pretty goodjob with a J. Brown at ten.
(05:19):
Now going back to the third pickof the second round, he has
a stud wide receiver. Jonathan Taylorwas chosen right before his pick, and
he nabbed Nick Chubb. Nick Chubbfolks and two oh three I think is
a great value. I Dan sofar, so good you have. I'm
(05:40):
not gonna yell at you yet,and I kind of want to, because
you guys know, I like toyell at my listeners. I love Nick
Chubb. I think he's a topthree running top top three or top four
running back depending on where you putRobinson be John Robinson. I loved Nick
Chubb here. Actually I was trying. I was trying to trade away Nick
Chubb for a king's ransom, andnobody was doing it. I guess nobody
(06:01):
really thinks that Nick Chubb is reallyworth what I think he is. But
yeah, Nick Chubb at two ohthree is pretty good to me. He
had the choice when it came downto him. He had the choice of
like Nick Chubb, a Mon SaintBrown, Josh Jacob's. Garrett Wilson could
(06:21):
have chosen him. I would hopeif Garrett Wilson is going to go in
the second round no matter what. And I really like Garrett Wilson, really
do. I know a lot ofpeople do too. I really like Garrett
Wilson. I think if you havea back end second round pick, I
think that's who you should go.You know, really really try to go
for Garrett Wilson and Jared Jalen Waddle. I think are my two second round
(06:44):
guys that I'm really looking at.And especially if you picked a stud running
back in the first round, balanceit out a little bit. With a
really really good wide receiver in GarrettWilson or Jalen Waddle, I think you're
golden. So anyways, he pickedNick Chubb two oh three thumbs up for
that, No problem. He hadto wait all the way back down to
three ten. Obviously there's a snakedraft if you haven't noticed by now.
(07:08):
Usually around three ten you're looking atguys like Bruce Hall, maybe Joe Mixon,
maybe an elite quarterback. At thatpoint, he grabbed t Higgins wide
receiver from the Bengals. Look,I love Joe Mixon. I'm sorry Joe
Burrow, I really do. Ithink he's gonna have a crazy, crazy
year. I think I may pickhim for my MVP this year. I
(07:36):
know that's probably not too crazy.I wonder what the odds are. Let's
see hold on Joe Burrow MVP odds, because I really think I haven't looked
out it yet, but I thinkI'm gonna put some money on this.
Odds. What is it so rightnow? Joe Burrow is at plus six
(07:56):
hundred, so he's right behind.I know he's a favorite in Mahomes Burrow
than Allen. Are the three favoredso interesting? I really like Joe Burrow.
I think he has a strong chanceto become a VP, and if
he does, I think T Higginsis going to be a strong part of
(08:16):
that that formula. So he saidthat, Look, Bruce Hall went right
before him. The stud quarterbacks,Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen went right before
that, So you really had achance of te Higgins or DK Metcalf.
Naj Harris, h I think Iwould rather take DK Metcalf over T Higgins.
(08:41):
And that's kind of splitting hairs. But I if I'm looking at the
two, I think you have togo DK Metcalf over T Higgins at the
end of the third round. Otherguys going to the end of the third
round. Like I said, BruceHall, Naj Harris, DK Metcalf was
chosen two picks after this, butI think I would have taken DK Mtcalf.
(09:01):
So he got T Higgins. Itis what it is. It's not
gonna lose your league. I thinka lot of these picks, especially in
the fourth, fifth round, yougotta look for guys that aren't gonna lose
it for you. D Higgins isn'tgonna lose it, but I don't know
if he's gonna win it either.I think dk Mtcalff has more more upside.
So Travis Eten went at the beginningof the fourth Dan has four h
(09:26):
three this interesting pick, and Ilove it. And I think I love
it because I just watched a clipof Jamar Gibbs getting drafted. I watched
like the Detroit Lions draft room whenit was their turn to pick and they
realized Jamark Gibbs is still available. That kind of pumped me up. If
you guys don't watch, that's it'sa fun it's a fun watcher. I'll
celebrating like the one the Super Bowlwhen Jamar Gibbs when the when the pick
(09:46):
turned to them and they realized JamarGibbs was available, or I think they
realized that the whole time they werecounting down picked by pick, hope ling,
hoping, hoping that Gibbs was goingto be there, and he was.
So I kind of feel the sameway. At the beginning of the
fourth round, This is where Idon't mind picking a rookie running back Jamar
Gibbs. I think is a hasa lot of upside. I don't think
(10:07):
he's gonna lose. I don't thinkhe's gonna lose your league. I think
he's gonna I think he has apretty safe floor in Detroit. So he
got Jamar Gibbs. I love thatpick. I really really like it.
Right after Gibbs went like Samuel AmariCooper, de Andre Hopkins. I'd rather
have Jamar Gibbs in them. Ireally do like Kenth Walker and he went
like five picks after Gibbs. Iget it. I get it. Same
(10:31):
tier for me, same tier forme. I have Gibbs ranked higher,
but you can go Gibbs or Walkor Walker Gibbs, and I'm I wouldn't
I wouldn't hate you for it.So right now, after four picks,
he has Nick Chubb, Jamar Gibbs, A J. Brown, and T.
Higgins. He's pretty balanced. Let'ssee how he does the rest of
(10:54):
the draft. Right I like it. Nick Chubb, Jamar Gibbs, Jamar
Gibbs is a wide running back too. AJ Rown, T Higgins. Like
that's safe, that's safe. Ilike it. I like it a lot.
So Kenneth Walker went towards the endof the fourth round, so did
Miles Sanders, Chris Godwin, LamarJackson went the end of the fourth round.
I think that's value. I thinkthat's value for him, especially when
(11:16):
the big guys, you know,Jalen Hurts and all those other elite quarterbacks
went what around and a half earlierthan this. I think getting him at
the end of the fourth round it'spretty legit. I like it. Let
me make sure this is recording.Okay, it is sure at am double
check. Yeah, that's what happenswhen you're by yourself. Anyways, So
(11:39):
Alexander Mattison went at the beginning ofthe fifth round. I think that's good
value. If you guys are lookingat the beginning of the fifth round.
Alexander Madison, Drake London, Ilike a lot that also went in the
beginning of the fifth round. Towardsthe end of the fifth Justin Herbert DJ
Moore went five O nine and Danwas looking at Ati. I have ten
(12:01):
at the tenth pick, Who's hegonna choose? This is interesting and I
want to see who who else wasavailable? But I think he got scared
because there were several quarterbacks now offthe board. Trevor Lawrence was probably the
last of that tier. Let mesee who else when he picked Trevor Lawrence,
what other quarterbacks went after that?Deshaun Watson, Dak Prescott, Daniel
(12:22):
Jones. Okay, okay, allright. So he got a little nervous
and thought, let me grab aquarterback before I have to take Daniel Jones.
I hate on Daniel Jones, butTrevor Lawrence is just that much better.
So you want Trevor Lawrence five ten. I'm not gonna be bad at
(12:43):
that. Let me see who wentafter him, Guys like Dallas Goddard,
Christian Watson, Jerry Judy. Yeah, I don't hate the Trevor Lawrence pick.
So he's at six three, hehas he picked Michael Pittman, wide
receiver with a J. Brown.Who is his running backs again? A
(13:07):
wide receivers Ajo Brown, T Higgins. I guess you want a little safety
Michael Pittman. Look, we'll seehow Richardson does in Indianapolis. I think
Michael Pittman will go as his quarterbackdoes. Obviously he's a wide receiver.
Somebody needs a throat to him.Michael Pittman, Okay, I think I
(13:31):
think I would have taken Rashad White, the running back out of Tampa Bay
before Pittman and Rashad White went twopicks after this, But there's not a
lot of if you wanted a widereceiver review, we're feeling uneasy. Tyler
Lockett was available, Yeah, DeonteJohnson was available. Michael Pittman. Doesn't
(13:52):
seem so bad now after you're lookingat who who was available at the time.
So yeah, Michael Pittman, I'mokay with that. Michael Pittman.
The beginning of the six that's agood guy to target there. It's a
decent value. It depends on yourroster construction, of course, but it's
fine, all right, let's finishthis thing in the seventh round. Seventh
(14:13):
round gets a little interesting. DavinCook goes in the beginning of the seventh
round, Mike Evans, Brandon Aiyuk, Joanne Dotson in the seventh round.
Now it's Dan's turn. He hasa decision to make. I think it's
a good one. Tuah went seventwelve instead of Trevor Lawrence. He could
(14:39):
have taken I'm gotta keep going backto Trevor Lawrence. Instead of Trevor Lawrence,
he could have gotten somebody like RashadWhite and Michael Pittman, and then
coming back he could have gotten toa in the seventh round all the way
the end of the seventh round. So those are the kind of things if
(15:00):
you're mocking, those are the kindof things you want to look at,
like, how is my team differentif I just traded this one player out?
What does my roster construction look like? What you know, what does
my whole team look like? Howto how balance it is? Is it
balanced? Do you want balance?Do you want to front load running backs
to wide receivers. I think that'sa that's a power of mock drafting.
(15:20):
I think everybody should at at leastdo one or two before if you have
a big league just get familiar withwho's going where and think like, damn,
I don't like taking a running backthis earlier, man, I love
loading up on running backs, Andyou know, in the first couple of
rounds, I'll do whatever I canbecause I love how my roster looks when
I do this. DeAndre Swift andthe end of the seventh round is where
(15:48):
where Dan got the seven seven ten. Do you understand great pick? Great
pick? I like it. Ithink these first seven rounds. Let me
tell you his whole roster through sevenrounds. Actually, let me let me
tell you his eighth because his eighthis just as good. You got DeAndre
Swift at seven ten and came backat eight oh three with James Cook.
(16:12):
You guys are probably applauding on theother end, if you're listening, you
might you might have clapped James Cookas at eight o three is solid.
So let's see what I really likehis roster so far through eight rounds.
I think this is this could bea winner. This could be a winner.
(16:32):
Look, I really wanted to tearDana part, but I think he
drafted correctly his quarterback Trevor Lawrence, which we already talked about. Tuah,
you might have done. I thinkthe your roster would have looked a little
sexier with TWA. But whatever. He has Trevor Lawrence, Nick Chubb,
Jamar Gibbs, A J. Brown, T. Higgins. Now he has
(16:56):
a couple of options to reflex. He has Michael Pittman, DeAndre Swi and
James Cook. I think all threeare great flex plays like I'm saying like
great. I don't say the wordgreat very often. I said, I
just said it like three times ina row. I love it. I
love it. Later on he gotElijah Mitchell, which whatever, I'm sorry
(17:18):
he didn't get Elijah Mitchell. Hegot Devin Singletary later on, so his
running backs on his bench are prettysolid. But overall, Dan, look,
I really want to tarry a parkIs. I love I love making
fun of our listeners. But overall, man, I give this am I
give this a B plus. I'mafraid to give it an a minus,
(17:41):
but maybe even an A minus.Trevor Lawrence, Nick Chubb, Jamar Gibbs,
Aja Brown, Te Higgins, MichaelPittman, DeAndre Swift, James Cook,
and you got Devin Singletary later hewaited on tight end, which is
okay, dang it, I'm givingit a minus. You guys, tag
me on Twitter, go in theEat Nation private group, tell me what
(18:03):
you think about this mock draft.Give me a grade for this what you've
heard so far? Do you agreewith this A minus? Am I crazy?
I don't think I am. Idon't think I'm crazy at all,
despite what doctors tell me, Ithink I like it. I like it.
I think this was fun. Ireally like breaking it down. I
almost like breaking it down better thandoing it myself because there's less pressure when
(18:25):
I do it myself. I feellike you guys are judging me. Now,
you guys can judge Dan. IfDan, if you want to come
forward, and I don't know ifyou want your last name on air or
not in front of a lot ofpeople, it's up to you. But
make sure. I don't think,Dan, are you even a member of
the Nation Private group. I don'tthink. I don't remember seeing even seeing
(18:47):
your name. But anyways, thiswas fun. I want to do it
again. If you guys, goon fantracks dot com, slash e s
