Prepare for an enthralling journey through the perplexing life and history of a man whose insatiable curiosity knew no bounds – Charles Fort. Born in Albany, New York, in 1874 to Dutch immigrant parents, Fort's early years were marred by hardship and a strained relationship with his authoritarian father. This challenging upbringing laid the foundation for Fort's lifelong distrust of authority. Despite his tumultuous start, Fort's intellectual curiosity shone through, leading him to explore the world of naturalism, collecting sea shells, minerals, and birds as a young adult. His unconventional path and the unique perspective he developed would eventually make him a renowned figure in the world of the unexplained and supernatural.

As a young adult, Fort embarked on a remarkable world tour, traversing the western United States, Scotland, and England. His travels were marked by experiences that further ignited his fascination with the mysterious and unexplained. Upon returning to the United States, he settled in the Bronx with his wife, Anna, enduring a life of extreme poverty. Despite the hardships, Fort pursued his passion for knowledge, taking odd jobs and spending countless hours in libraries, collecting a trove of mysterious notes and observations. These notes would become the foundation for his groundbreaking work, "The Book of the Damned," published in 1919. This influential book challenged the scientific establishment and urged them to embrace a more open-minded approach to enigmatic phenomena.

Intriguingly, our exploration of the enigmatic takes a contemporary turn as we delve into a recent incident in Utah. A perplexed family stumbled upon over a dozen dead fish in their backyard, seemingly dropped from the sky. This bizarre occurrence left them and local meteorologists scratching their heads, as no natural weather event could account for the phenomenon. While theories suggest that birds may have played a role, the absence of similar findings in neighboring properties and the timing during a storm raise even more questions.

Join us in this episode of The Ectoplasm Show as we navigate the labyrinthine life of Charles Fort, from his troubled upbringing to his relentless pursuit of the unexplained. We'll also investigate the perplexing case of the falling fish in Utah, highlighting the enduring mysteries that continue to challenge our understanding of the world, from the supernatural to the truly unexplained. Fort's legacy lives on, inspiring us to question the boundaries of accepted knowledge and embrace the enigmatic.
