Se rumorea que la heroína jamás murió y que todo era un truco para conseguir la insignia de la Flor de Lis que le otorgó Carlos VII, mucho dinero y mucho prestigio había de por medio.
Carlos VII se acerca a aquella mujer y le dice: ¿Cuál era el secreto que tú y yo compartíamos?. Ella se queda perpleja, llora y queda desenmascarada. El rey la perdona pero pide que se retracte ante el parlamento. Ella fue una de las cuatro impostoras que dijo ser Juana de Arco.
