La última cena de Dieric Bouts protagoniza la cuarta y última entrega de esta serie especial de Encuádrate Año Van Eyck.
La tabla central muestra, con perspectiva central, a Jesús, con los discípulos repartidos alrededor de una mesa rectangular, cubierta por un mantel blanco. El centro de atención del cuadro recae sobre el rostro de Cristo, al que el espectador mira directamente. El momento bíblico escogido es aquel en que el hijo de Dios consagra la Eucaristía.
Si algo distingue a esta “última cena” de otras es que Dieric Bouts se toma ciertas licencias respecto al pasaje narrado en la Biblia. Para empezar, se desarrolla con luz diurna y no de noche. Tampoco muestra a Jesucristo partiendo el pan, sino sosteniendo una hostia consagrada en una mano y realizando el gesto de la bendición.
