When I heard that Kamala Harris had been selected as the VP nominee for the Democratic Party, I was elated.  It wasn’t because she was my pick but she was a win nonetheless: a win for me as a women and a win for me as a Woman of Color.  While I understood that everybody didn’t share my joy, I did not expect the barrage of criticisms of her I read.

Words like “nasty”, “angry black woman”, and “ambitious” were the ones that cut me most deeply.  Words, I felt, that Black Women have been burdened with for centuries.

With today’s episode, I raise this conversation about the definitions that women have heard for centuries and how those words have written on the way they see themselves and other women.  This is a conversation worth having and now’s the time.

So, if you struggle with what people think of you and the judgments placed upon you without any regard for your investment of time and effort to get where you are, this episode, I believe, will lift you as it did me.

In this episode, I expose to the light aspects of people pleasing that we’ve had to adopt to make it in this world.  And why now is the time to cast those rules off and stand in your own Light without apology.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
