- Eine gute Geschichte braucht Konflikte.
Die Charaktere müssen von einer Schwierigkeit in das nächste Problem in die kommende Herausforderung stolpern. Die Personen selbst müssen komplex sein: Ein Bösewicht ist nie nur böse, sondern will auch immer geliebt werden und ihm ist Schlimmes passiert. Der Held der Story ist nie nur gut, er hat schlechte Gedanken oder handelt aus Stolz oder hat Vorurteile.
- Am besten lernt man aus Büchern, die man mag.
Um besser zu werden, schnapp dir deine ein, zwei, drei Lieblingsautor:innen, schau, warum du ihre Bücher magst, studiere sie, lies Interviews, in denen sie über ihre Arbeit sprechen. So kannst du dich Stück für Stück verbessern und deinen eigenen Stil finden. Es ist nicht wichtig, was Kritiker gut finden, sondern was du magst.
- Die meisten Geschichten haben drei Akte.
Im ersten Akt wird die Person aus dem gewohnten Leben geworfen. Im zweiten Akt lernt sie einen Umgang damit, stellt sich den Herausforderungen, es schaut schon gut aus bis es im dritten Akt zu einer dramatischen Wendung kommt – jetzt geht es um alles oder nichts.
