26 december 2020. Under annandag jul på det idylliska Åland får utredare Tommy Thörnroos ett samtal från sina kollegor. En man har anträffats med svåra brännskador i ett villaområde. Mannen lyckas berätta för polisen hur det har gått till innan han på sjukhuset senare avlider av sina skador. Det visar sig att branden är anlagd och noggrant planerad. Misstankarna riktas så småningom mot någon i hans närhet.
