Speaker 1 (00:20):
Greene Society, TAS's everyone at rich twelve some much in
the Fantasy Baseball Live. Today is the thirty first of August. Wow,
another month in the books here and I'm here with
my wandering partner, mister Tim McCloud. Tim, Where are you?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Ah, that's a good question, and it depends on who
you ask. Some would say another planet, one of those
star trek far far distant galaxies, far away.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
You're at a wedding. Are you back home?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yes? I got home about twenty minutes or so ago,
just settled, then took a look at a couple of
baseball scores. Had a great weekend in thunder Bay, spend
some time with the kids, the grandkids. A wonderful wedding.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Uh what relative or a friend of a relative? What?
What was? What was? Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
A good A close friend of mine, his youngest daughter
got married.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Great.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I'm big, I'm the I'm the big big, I'm the
godfather for the older, for the older of the two daughters.
So it was nice. She was there from German. She
was she's married a German fella. She's living in Germany
and she's expecting her second child. And it was it
was nice.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
So your second child.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, not me, No, I only look like I'm in
my sixth month.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
So so so what what does what does godparents godfather responsibilities?
What are those you have to share with her insight
and wisdom? Do you have to give her money? Do
you have to uh knock like the true godfather? Do
you have to like steal for her? I mean, what
do you have to do?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Uh? Basically nothing, that's right up my alley, right, okay, Okay,
spoil them when they're a little bit younger and attend
to all the important functions and sort of go from there.
It's it's nice more symbolic than it is, uh walking
around with a violin case.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Okay, one has asked me to god. No one has
asked me to be a godfather, so I have. I
was ruled out of that that task, and I was
always wondered if somebody did, like, what would that entail?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
So well, I'm sure if you google, it probably entails
a lot more things than I've ever done.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I think I think it's supposed I think it's it's
it's think it's steeped in Catholic tradition and you're supposed
to provide, don't my app the moral and religious aspects
of the relationship. I think that's what it's there for,
(03:12):
which is probably why I never got never got asked.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, you know, what you just did is the equivalent
to me driving through Popeyes and asking for a burger.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Okay, exactly what is the role of a god parent?
So maybe maybe some of one of our Patreon members,
Well we'll we'll do that anyway. That's that is my
godparents play significant role in child's life, serving is a
spiritual mentor role model and support system through throughout their upbringing. So, Tim,
have you been doing?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Doing? Doing that thing the better option, I think, rich
you know, we owe to Well we can spend an
hour discussing potential failures. Okay on the spiritual spiritualistic sided things.
But yeah, I saw some friends I haven't seen in
(04:02):
ten fifteen years. So it was a really really good weekend.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Well that's great, that's great. Now did you get do
you get a chance to watch any baseball or keep
up with baseball or.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Well? I saw the single most important thing that I've
seen in the past three months, and it's happening today.
Tanner Biby has only allowed to earned runs at the
start Okay, that is that's spiritualistic in nature, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I think it is. I mean we really we really
missed on him. What a what a stinker? He gets
what against the marritor. So that's all right, that's that's
a gimme.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well. And you know, I don't know if you caught
the I caught part of the antics after his last start,
and it wasn't looking too good in the dugo with
him and his manager was its they were verbal and
it was not It was not really good. Okay, when
(05:04):
you're sporting an era close to five, getting mouth, he
is probably not. Yeah, that's there's a time in a place, right,
But I don't think. I think Tanner Biby's at the
stage where he should probably keep most of his thoughts
to himself until he gets his era under four yea,
because the way he's been pitching, he could very easily
(05:27):
be uh spending time at Columbus, couldn't he?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Ah, has he lost his eligibility? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
I can send them to the miners anytime they want.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Get well, but then he has to approve it, though,
so okay, because you can get out of options. He
is twenty six and let's take a look at his
baseball savant breakdown here. So he's a left he's the
east the west pitcher, Timmy. What that means is there's
very little stuff sitting in the bottom part of the zone,
so he doesn't have there's a little bit of a curveball.
(05:59):
But so the hitter's I only has to go east
the west. You always want if you got four zones
to worry about. He's only got the hitter's only got
to worry about three zone, which makes it a little easier. Uh,
let's see, fastball velocity is ninety four to four average.
It's pretty good. His cutter looks great, his sweeper looks great,
(06:22):
his change up looks pretty good. So he's got three
good pitches. His location looks terrible. Everything's in the heart
of the plate, so he throws strikes. He just throws
them straight down the heart of the plate. His expected
era is three eighty three, so he is getting a
little unlucky.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Well. Since June twenty twentieth, his earned runs per startar
five two five four two three four four four two
four five, So he's getting smoke pretty good.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, yeah, it just doesn't have any location. I mean,
he's still a young guy, so only twenty six years old.
I think there's some upside there. It looks like it.
His expected era over the last three seasons have been
three sixty nine, three seventy five, three eighty three and that. Yeah,
that's so that seems like who the picture is. It's
kind of an upper threes guy. So number low win,
(07:15):
number three high and number four starter. So maybe that's
where you draft him next year. He's going to be cheap,
no one's going to want him.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Well, yeah, and I can understand that I definitely will
not have had twelve shares in my eleven leagues next year,
and odds are pretty good that I will diversify. I
was expecting things to swing in an upward direction, I guess,
and No. Four seventy three, one thirty one eurem whip.
(07:44):
It's not getting it done for me, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
And it's it's like, look, we're all human beings. We'll
have a human emotion. Sometimes you just get burned so
much you don't care if he is a bargain no moss,
You're just done.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Well, yeah, I have over over the years, I've had
that relationship with Scott Baker, was a pretty infamous, infamous one.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
You need, you need, you need a more modern player.
So maybe it's going to be Tanner Bibby. You need
somebody to get to update your resumes.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Yeah, I know, I got to upgrade.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, definitely, just updated. I need to upgrade it, just updated.
Just instead of Scott Baker, it's a confined Maybe it
will be Tanner Biby.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Well, and I got to add the spirit spiritual thing
in there too, so yeah, yeah, I could be busy.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
For I might have hit a nerve here, guys. With
Now I'm starting to feel guilty. I was just messing
with you, so.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Just messing back, Okay, I feel to feel guilty, ok.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Okay, So I guess you did not get a chance
to see the Friday Night double whammy of Peyton Totally
and Jonah Thong.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
No I didn't, but that is something that I did
cheat and and and watch at the wedding, I must confess.
Okay it my phone was not too too far away, rich,
I that one I had to sort of glance at
every once in a while. Just yeah, you gotta go
to washer, right.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
So, so who were you more impressed with? Who were
you more surprised with uh could be the same player,
by the way.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Yeah, I was gonna say it is going to be
the same player, and that'd be totally Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
He was really good, really.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yeah he was. And the last time I looked at
Boston's rotation, uh, there is a need there for somebody
to shove it a little bit more then say us.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
And mayhe absolutely so.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
You know, hey, Bradon Bell belows has had a good year.
He's pitching. Well, you can't take Garrett Crouset's all world, uh,
me and Giolito not so much.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I'll take Gila. But if you told me that, if
you tell me that Peyton toll is pitching the fourth
game in a in a playoff series, it wouldn't surprise
me at all. I don't think you could throw a
dust a day out there.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
No, I don't think so either. And as much as
I liked what tong did and I did, okay, there
is there is a lot there and there's going to
be a lot more in the future. Boston I think
needs totally right now, maybe just a pinch a hair
(10:53):
more than you know. The Mets need tongue. But then again,
you look at the Mets I was going to push back.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I was going to push back on that, just to
let you know I just did for Olliver Patreon member
or for everybody. Next Sunday, Tim and I won't be
doing a podcast together where both I'm on vacation. Tim
might not be a vacation. But so I put out
the top one hundred pitchers in baseball, and as I
was doing, Peyton Tolly's office on it, and so is
Jonah Tong, And I said, well, let's take a look
(11:22):
at the depth chart here of the Mets rotation. And
I'm looking at Peterson, Singa Manaiah McClain, Holmes, and Tong.
Call me crazy. If McClain and Tong in the season, really, well,
are they your two top starters going into the postseason?
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Well, all you have to do is spend a couple
of minutes taking a look at I believe David Peterson
allowed eight runs in his last starting Cody Sanga, I
believe is up to five and runs today, and he
is He is not a pitch good in the second
half at all, Sean Sean Maniyah. Again, the two best,
(12:08):
the two best starters could be could be MC. Yeah,
like we were talking a week yeah, a week or
so ago. What are they gonna do with McLean Y?
You know, I've heard people say, are they gonna shut
him down? Are they gonna How do you shut a
guy like that down? He's their best starter right now?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Okay you can't. Here's here's a crazy thing about Nolan McClain, Timmy,
he's been pitching for two years. He was a position Well,
he's been pitching for longer than he has. He stopped
hitting last season. That what he's just this season is
the first year he's focused exclusively on pitching. And guess
what he just completely blew up.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yeah that's crazy. Eh, it's crezy. Think about it. You know,
Rowdy Toil has been practicing pitching for fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, it's uh. McClain has just been We're going to
get the jonahng gonna minute, everybody claim, let's see its Seattle,
Go okay, Seattle? In Atlanta? All right, well, they he
should have good games, they're not very well, the Braves
should be good, but they're not. But Philadelphia he absolutely
shoved at eight innings, pitch, four hits nowhere and runs,
(13:17):
I mean absolutely dominated the Phillies.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Well, yeah, and you take a look at Atlanta even. Okay,
seven innings, four hits, no walks, seven stray coats. That's
rather dominant. Even against a team that's, you know, struggling,
struggle struggling, it's still a heck of an effort. Okay,
he's only allowed one home running three games, but that
(13:42):
Philly game, eight innings of four hit ball, no walks,
no runs, shut them right down, six straight coats. That's
impressive because Philadelphia can score runs. They have a very
very good offense, very good.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
So I thought Tom was great. I watched the game.
I was flipping back before between between games. Song was great,
But I've just seen a pitch two weeks ago, twice
in that week, so he looked exactly the way he
looked when I saw the great crazy Fastballward. It's a
tremendous extension he got. He has the tien linsa cum hop,
(14:16):
he's got the great change up, which didn't really get
a lot of swing and mission. But that's he's primarily
a two pitch pitcher. But it was such an unfair
game to evaluate because you know, the the Uri Perezk
got completely blown up by the Mets, so you don't
really know. I mean Tog didn't really have to. He
just threw strikes just you know, just see if you
(14:37):
can hit this, and you know, just got through the game.
And so I think we need to see him again
to see how he's really going to do against major
league pitching. But the fact that he got through it
is a good thing.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yeah, well, definitely a good thing. A good thing for
the Metropolitans. They need, they need some pitching right now,
and hopefully hopefully he can.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
That totally or Tong the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Ah, I gotta go totally.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Totally or McClain the rest of the season. McLean, So McLain, totally, Tong.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Do you think all three of those guys pitch at
the top of the rotation in three years?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Yes? Yeah, Now ask me five six years, and that
might be a different story.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I keep going back to Tim Lensecon's career, which was
a really burly high peak for Tong excuse me for
lensicom And again, it has nothing to do with Tong's ability.
It looks like it's just two great pitches and hopefully
you'll find a better curveball, but just a physic count.
He's a little dude.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Well and Hey, I love watching that delivery, Okay, in
slow motion with his head bent to the first base
side looking away from the place, it looks spectacular, But
physically I don't. I just don't know how that's going
to play long term. Okay, I'm not so old, Richie.
There's a lot of moving parts, and they're not easy
(16:15):
moving parts either, are they? No? Like how easy were
to be for him to get out of sink and
spend three months getting back into sinc I don't know, Okay.
All I know is repeatable deliveries. It's got to be
one of the toughest ones out there. Correct.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
It is because it's such a long extension that he's
almost in the air for a bit. I mean, because
it's such a long extension and it's difficult to control
your release point when you're doing that, so it is
easy to get out of sink, which is why he's
always had some control problems. But he's thought a lot
more strike of late. So but you know, you know,
(16:53):
if we go back, we did ten lenths. God want
to repeat myself, but we looked at his career about
two weeks ago, and he was great for two or
three years. Started the wobble and was out of baseball
at age thirty two. So he just didn't last that long.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
No, and it's a shame when he in his prime,
he had three four years that work even was arguably
the best picture in baseball.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Yeah that's right. Yeah, but multiple All Star games. But
he just he just didn't lasts. So yeah, but if
you've got him, if you've got tong and a dining legue,
your gold, I wouldn't worry about it. Don't just look
at all this, don't don't get worried about all the
stuff I'm saying. It's just stuff to know. But you know,
but he turns twenty seven, you might think, Okay, maybe
maybe I sell high.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yes, at some point in time, with every player in
a dynasty league, you're faced with the decision, yeah do
I do I sell? Do I sell high? Okay? And
and move on. And sometimes sometimes it works, sometimes it
doesn't work. And when it doesn't work, what happens is
(18:01):
you basically have that player roster for the balance of
his career. And right now I'm thinking on one of
my teams, JT. Real Muto is a prime example. Okay,
we've got him in DL five and we've had a
great run, but we've kept him for the full duration.
At some point in time, and it's already started. The
(18:24):
numbers are coming down, he's getting older, et cetera. The
trade value diminishes to the point where you're left with
the choice of either holding on to him or just
cutting them loose. And everybody's faced with that decision. And
we don't know when it's going to happen, but every
single player in Major League Baseball, including one, so at
some point in time, is going to decline. And it's
(18:46):
a it's a tough decision as to when do you
part company or attempt to or you just write it
right over the career and the way you go. It's
it's not easy.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Yeah, I agree. I have two comments, if I can,
I if jt Romolta fit. His last three weeks have
been outstanding, but his up until three weeks ago, I
think he had five or six home runs, it was
not it was not looking good. I mean, he's he's
given us hope over the last three weeks, but it
(19:18):
is I think his number is going to be okay
in the end, but it was a tough up.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
He's up to eleven homers, in seven seven stolen bases
with a two sixty eight batting average forty seven runs score,
which will be his poorest season since twenty sixteen yep,
twenty fifteens.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
So but let's see, he had he sat one, two, three,
four home runs since August eighteenth, so that's in less
than two weeks he has gone from seven home runs
to eleven. So he's he's done his hay And the
other thing I wanted to comment on, and you you
stole my thunder. You didn't even know because I was
(20:02):
going to do a guess the player because I no,
because we've not against the player. But you already guess
my player.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
And god, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
This was shocking to me. Do you know that Juan
Soto has twenty five solen bases?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Ah? Yes, he is quickly change challenging Simpson and Cavallero
for the major league lead. Yeah. Yeah, I don't care
what you say about one. So he's he's having a
he's having a good year for our Randy game here
home runs.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
He's going to go forty thirty. He's going to go
forty thirty. Yeah at batting averagely you don't like the
two fifty four but one big percentage of three ninety
five and an one base percentage league, would you be
balls enough to take him as the number one overall pick.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
I don't think you have to be over the ballsy
to make that decision. He's twenty six years old. Remember
when we used to talk about the prime years being
twenty eight to thirty.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yeah, yeah, these are the prime Yeah, yeah, it's more
like twenty three to twenty eight. That's yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, but no, you look at those numbers. Yeah, he's
going to finish with forty home runs, probably one hundred
RBIs you look at the runs score had one hundred
and two. Yeah, so I had another fifteen or so
there anyways, one hundred and fifteen with twenty seven maybe
twenty seven to twenty eight stolen.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Yeah, that's a monster. Yeah it is. And it's been
a sleepy.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Monster season too, because it's not something that I think.
It was cal Riley that talked about all of wants.
Oh no, it was Aaron Judge. All of Aaron Judges
home runs were kind of cheap runs. When the Yankees
were ten to nothing, Aaron Judge would hit a home run.
But but I mean people in New York and the
Mets land they haven't been all that excited about once
(22:00):
on what he's done.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
No. I remember we discussed this a few weeks ago
and I was sort of giving it to the to
the message like what do you want from this guy? Okay,
you're talking going in next year? What's the floor on SODO?
Thirty home runs, ninety RBIs, one hundred runs scored, a
four hundred or close to obp and probably fifteen stolen bases.
(22:24):
How many people have fed floors of that caliber in
our game? Not very many. Yeah, deserves a.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Lot of ceiling too. I mean that's it's not a floor,
and that it's a little bit of a ceiling. It's
a floor with a guy who could go forty thirty.
I mean that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah, oh yeah. I if I end up with one
of the top three four picks and one sorta was
sitting there even the batting average, I think I'm leaning
right now towards just taking them. Yeah, take the safe
numbers and worry about to the risk on your roster
with picks two through to twenty nine or thirty.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Yeah. I was when I was working on the top
five hundred and baseball, I was and just I've been
writing like a mad guy over the last couple of weeks,
just more profiles and top twenties. Yeah, I wanted to
see how many minor league players had gone twenty twenty,
and to date there's six and six only six. And
(23:28):
then I go, well, how many players have gone twenty
twenty And there's a lot more. And that's when I
because I just sorted by home runs and and I
looked over to see the solo bank and that's what
I saw, Juan Soto have twenty five. And I'm like, what,
how is that possible?
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Is that? Is that twenty five a top ten?
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I don't remember.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I'm just I'm just curious. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm
gonna call up on mL MLB just to just to see, Oh, Tanner, bye,
you didn't let me down. There's four four runs up
there for Seattle. Now, thank you.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Ten No, I think he's out of the game. So okay,
now he was out of the game socause you're looking
at up. I'm gonna take a quick break and get
back and Tim will I forgot what he was looking up,
so soosp okay, we are back at sem You were
(24:30):
looking up something. How many? What is Soto? How many?
Where does he rank?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Right now? Sorry? I uh he is now up to
twenty six stolen bases. He must have got one since
since whoever we were looking at updated their sitement, he
is right one today. Okay he's Yeah, I'm on MLB
dot com. So he's tied with Francisco Lindor at twenty six,
and right ahead of him is Tatis at twenty seven,
(24:57):
Abrams at twenty eight, and Victor Scott at thirty. Wow, yeah, thirteenth.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Yeah, that's crazy, that's crazy. And who's got more home runs?
Who's got more home runs?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Up?
Speaker 1 (25:13):
The up with stolen bases? As you're looking up that list,
does anybody have any more home runs than jan Soto does?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Uh? Yes? One, Soda is sitting seventh behind Raley Schwerber
o TWI.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
No, that has more stolen bases than one.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
The next closest to Otani at seventeen.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, there you go. I mean, that's an amazing fantasy year.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah it is you. I'm keeping scrolling down here, I'm looking.
The closest one to him would be Pete Crow Armstrong
at thirty one stolen bases and twenty eight home runs,
but don't compare the to ninety one OVP.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Really, that's what is one base percentage is pro.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
He's down, he's down with the second half and the regression. Yeah,
he's down to two ninety one. He's down to under
eight hundred on the obs to fifty two betting average.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Now, wow, to may I talk about the minor leagues
on that same token. This, this might surprise you a
little bit. Okay, there are I'm going to try to
get the second guy here twenty five. Let's see. Okay,
there are two players in the minor leagues that went
(26:32):
twenty five twenty five. You want to know the first
guys Kyle Kyler fedco Patreon members can read about him.
Who is the other one? Oh, Spencer Jones.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Spencer Jones.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Okay, yeah, Spencer Jones is leading the minor leagues with
thirty two home runs. He's got twenty six stolen bases, so.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Thirty so he's got fifty seven. So that's a a
third of his total end strikeouts.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Strikeouts.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
So yeah, it is almost a third.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Yeah, Yeah, it's you know, it's it's funny. I mean,
there's there's there's some guys that are doing some pretty
interesting things in the minor leagues. We're gonna get to
that a little bit when we talk about my top
five hundred. But I just thought the want so to
think the twenty five stolen bases. It just kind of
shows you what the what Major League Baseball did with
increasing the sizes of those bases and wants a motive.
(27:28):
Being a smart, smart baseball player said, I can do that.
Starts stealing ball.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Yeah, yeah, if you're gonna, if you're gonna, if I'm
gonna take a walk to first base, I might as
well stroll on down the second right, I might score
a run that way.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Absolutely, Let's take two games. Let's take a look at
what's going on in these games. Tim, I go, yeah,
we've already talked about the Cleveland Guardians, and again I
do not believe Biby was in when they scored the runs.
So I'll just check double check there.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Oh yes, ye, yeah, he must to giving him up
BESTFESTI gave him up.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah, oh yes. It just makes it later in the
day all that much more satisfying. Rich That's where they
get very spiritualistic.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
A rose Arena. With his twenty six home runs, it's
been extremely good only a two forty two batting average,
but uh, power and speed.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
His second his second half has been has been huge,
he really has. He was sort of a never never
lie in the first half, but no, he's bounced back
and had an incredibly strong second half.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
So Celestia, as you're I'm sure you're starting to prep
for twenty twenty six, like, how do you how do
you think about guys like Randy a Rose Arena who've
had these great second halfs Versus guys like PCA who
had the first half, great first half and have kind
of tired here in the second half. Do you look
(28:59):
at is a young kid he tired, He's going to
be just fine, and or do you look at Randy
Rose Arena type of players that they're just starting to
figure it out and more so to come. How do
you think about players with it with vastly different person
second halves.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Well, a lot will boil down to the perceived cost
of those players. Looking at twenty twenty six, Randy River
Rose Arena with this year will now have a string
of five consecutive seasons where he has gone twenty twenty okay,
(29:36):
and you're looking at a at a player that is
how old is Randy Rose. He'll be twenty nine next spring,
still in a fairly good spot. I'll take the I'll
take the five years of twenty twenty. I think overpaying
(29:57):
a premium for a young player that is a very
good player, but it's Randy eros Arena will probably be
a third fourth round pick PCA a second round pick.
Do I want to pay that price for PCA or
pay a bit of a reduced price for boring old
Randy euros Arena. I think I'll go with boring, boring
(30:17):
and old and then remiscancy.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Remember Randy erosiwa Grena. Everybody. If you're playing on base
percentage league, let's usually guy's one hundred points on top
of his batting average. So he's got a three thirty
eight on base percentage, which isn't horrible to me when
you consider twenty six twenty four.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
No, and you look at what he did the year
before as far as three thirty two, three sixty four
three twenty seven, three fifty six, three eighty, I think
three thirty three forty obp out of a Rose arena
is is a reasonable outcome for next year? Okay? PCA
(30:55):
two ninety one what's what's what's reasonable for PCA in
an OBP league next year?
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Three hundred Maybe it's a little lucky with with Babin
it gets a three ten, it's not gonna be much
more than that. That that hurts, because that that hurts.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Well, yeah, and you know you start looking at a Rosarina,
you know, seventy seven runs scored, ninety five, seventy two,
ninety four. This year he's an eighty one year hard
finished up closer. I would say eighty eighty five is
a reasonable run score it. It's a nice player, it
really is. And again with that string, I'd be betting
(31:35):
were this next year at this time we'll be saying, well,
six for six. I can't I can't argue with Randy Rosie.
He's done it five years in a row. Why why
couldn't he do it for six? You know?
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Pivoting over to the Padres versus twins, Joe Ryan's still
a really good picture as blanking the Padres. But Byron
Bucks and Timmy with his twenty ninth them run unless
he gets hurt, which I guess it's fifty to fifty.
He gets hurt, Uh, he'll get thirty horme runs for
the first time I believe in his career.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Yeah, and I don't know what the stolen base numbers,
but they're very respectable too. I have to take a
look at Budet.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Twenty one, twenty nine, one, two, seventy two, three thirty
three with seventy RBIs playing for a bad team.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, I think it goes back. My thoughts are very simple.
It goes back to a number of years ago, and
I've said it repeatedly. At some point in time, Byron
Bucksman is going to have a great year and I
will have him on none of my teams. This year
is that year. I don't have him on any of
my teams. I just hey, how how do you bet?
(32:45):
How you bet on health?
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Totally agree, and yeah, he's got MVP skills. He really
does MVP talent.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
He always had.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
He has always said this year he's going to get
MVP considerations, even though he's playing for one of the
worst teams in baseball. It doesn't He's had a great season.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Yeah, you know, it sort of reminds you going back
a few years ago. B j Upton was the same.
You saw him on the field and like he ran
like a gazelle. He was a big kid. Everything looked
like it was poised for a monster. Yeah, it just
it never happened.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Jackson Cherio was back, hit a home run, solid base yesterday,
three or four today. I have him in three leagues.
I didn't get him in any league. I missed the
fact that he was coming back on Saturday, Otherwise I
would have had it, which is a real bummer. But
it's interesting that he's arguably the first, the best or
second best player on that team, and I was a
little worried that they wouldn't play him just because they
(33:42):
were rolling so much. But you gotta have Jackson Cherio
in there.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, yeah, you do. You're really it's a it's as
simple as that. And yeah, rotating terrain and free like
in the top spot. They're both having great years. Yeah,
it's uh yeah, they're they're taking it a little bit
on the chin today to the Jays, but they're on
(34:08):
the road, and the Jays he got a pretty fair
team themselves. So yeah, no, Cheerio's got to be in
there every day now when it comes to first bait, Okay,
when Reese Hoskins is ready to return, I don't know
how that's going to look.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
It's gotta be soon. He's been in rehab for quite
a while.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yeah. He always had a really good second half for Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
And William Petrash, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Whatever was ailing him as far as physical, you know, physically,
and I've heard rumors there was hand issues. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
he's up to stem. Yeah, it was a he's up
to seventeen home runs now.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Yeah, I had it all lied that for you.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
I was going to talk about that next that you
brought up before me. Since the all start break, ten
home runs, hitting two eighty three, seventeen percent strikeout rate,
ten percent walk rate. So he's up to seventeen home
runs in less than half of the season. He's already
surpassed his home run So he's he he's fine. It's
Corbyn Carroll all over again. From last season. You know,
(35:10):
there was something bothering me. Just he played through it
and fantasy managers got hurt because of that. He should
have taken three weeks off and gotten better than that
would have been.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Okay, Yeah, I can protect him for and have him
for next year for twenty one dollars. I'm still on
the edges to what I should do there that that's
going to be an interesting decision to make this offseason.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Yeah yeah, I mean he's arguably still the best offensive
catcher in baseball, so yeah, well, I guess cayl. Riley's
probably surpassed them. Yeah yeah, he hits the ball really,
really hard. Let's see. Yeah, you're right. The Blue Jays
have singled the Brewers to death, so nobody's really No
(35:58):
one's hit a home run. There's been two doubles and
they've scored eight runs.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yeah yeah, Woodrofe got scuffed up a little bit today,
but yeah it happens.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Oh jeez, ahead, him going to that's not good. I'm
doing really well in some leagues and I don't need
these blow ups here at the end. I just don't.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
No, no, it doesn't fill one with confidence, does it. Yeah.
It's it's like that the Mets game the other night
with David Peterson allowing eight and runs. So thank you
very much, David. It's been a great year and all,
but that killed me totally.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
So remember of Trek Scubat a couple of wobbles back
a couple of weeks ago. Well, shut out, last game,
shut out, this game against the Royals, and the Royals
had been on a roll and just got stimied.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Yeah he's what's he allowed now for four hits through
It's funny, it's only showing six innings.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Here, it is.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
It's only they're ye okay, there we go. Okay, yeah, yeah,
I was throwing five and a third and then play
catch up on me. Yeah it's and you know, you
look at the Tigers flavor Taurus is he's had a
pretty fair year. I I don't I don't think Dedrey
has anything to complain about with that, with that signing,
(37:21):
nothing at all.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
I don't think so. I don't think so. They've been
It's still about Trek Schooble. I mean, if Schoobl's well, yeah,
as good as he is, and they can throw them
twice in a series, they're they're gonna have a chance.
They're gonna have a chance.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Yep, they definitely are. You know that he gets interesting
for Boston, right, di can throw a crouchet.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Twice, that's right, and then you throw it totally or
somebody like that. I see. I like Gili and Brayon
Bellow has actually started to put some things together. I
would not sleep on the Boston Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
No, and who's that kid they rowing or something like that. Yeah,
he's pretty.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
Yeah, yeah, he's most pretty fair quinn.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Oh, I'm sorry the other guy.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Yeah, he was by long shot to win the Triple
Crown about fourteen years ago.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
I think, by the way, I guess he's up to
fifteen home runs now twenty two stolen bases. My buddy Michael.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Garchel Garcia, I know, I yeah, I chee. I checked, baby, Yeah,
I check what's going on in Kansas City on a
regular BASI. He's two for three today and that stiff
Bobby Witt didn't drive him in so and Pascantino didn't
hit a home run? Like, why do I root for
the Royals? Oh, dear lord.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
I wonder if Paspentina is just a streaky hitter, because
I mean, he was on quite a role in August.
I would assume he's going to get some votes for
Player of the Year. I mean, I don't I didn't
count up how many home runs he hit, but it
was ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yeah. I think it was update to eight at some
point time. But it's you know, and you looked at
his numbers from last year, Okay, And I liked I've
got shares of Passementina in about four or five leagues
because what I did was I took a look at
what he did last year. Okay, and he missed all
of September, okay, but he nineteen homers ninety seven RBI
(39:21):
is two sixty two betting average. You know, you had
toss to September in there, and who knows, maybe he's
a twenty five one hundred sort and he's twenty eight
ninety four. He's gonna he's gonna be a thirty one
hundred type with that hot August. So the kudos to
those that took.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
August August ten home runs twenty nine RBIs that does
not include what he does today, which is actually not
looking so good. He's not he's not hitting well. It's
two thirty one average, but because he's you know, he's slow,
he doesn't hit the ball all that hard. But it's
this guy's got huge power. But it does look like
he's a bit streaky.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Yeah, the end of the year, it looks like the
numbers are going to be there for two years in
a row. Because I'm gonna I'm looking at twenty twenty
four in the miss month of September. Yeah, I think
past Quentino is he's going to generate a very drunk interest.
I think next spring richer to.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Mean, let's take a break, get back, and let's talk
about what we're gonna do the rest of the show here,
because mister McCleod was busy gall of anting this weekend
and goof and off no waving this week Hey, we
(40:42):
all deserve it.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, but it's true.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Gallivanting and goofing off, right, that's what you were doing.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I was spiritually gall galivanting. Yes, So do you don't
have me to have fun with this for a while, Rach? Okay,
It wouldn't be right if I didn't. Okay.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
So hopefully we've got he's got a player or two
that he's going to suggest we pick up at the
end of the show here, but I'm going to take
a little diversion. We got notes written up. We're going
to get to those. I got a lot of questions
for Tim. On Wednesday, my top final version of my
Top five hundred comes out for our Patreon members, and
next Sunday, the Top one hundred gets announced in a
(41:22):
podcast that will replace this podcast for everyone, So everybody
will be able to see who the top one hundred is.
But I'm going to ask you to give me. I
get to bring the list up here. Give me three numbers,
one at a time, and we will give me four numbers,
and the last one will be the number one player
(41:42):
in baseball, number one minor league prayer in baseball. But
that'll be the last one. But I want you to
give me three numbers, and I will tell you who's
at those numbers. So what is your first number, mister McLeod.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Okay, just as a quick ad, even though there won't
be a podcast next Sunday because Richelbivo and enjoying every
darn minute of it, where I will be is I'll
be over on Discord next weekend and I will throw
(42:13):
some I'll throw some names over there.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Look at you, Yeah, wow, is the man?
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Well? Hey, you know it's a good group out there.
I deserted them this weekend and I don't have it.
I don't have it loaded on wrong my.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Strong but true words. The word deserted comes out.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Yes, So I am. I am riddled with guilt, okay,
and I'll try and make it up to the Guy's
Day weekend. Okay. Over at the discord.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
I could have put together the waiver wire, but I
didn't have the energy.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
So but him, you drank it, yes.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Robin ranking, So give me three numbers.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Okay, three numbers. Let's try seventy one.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Seventy one, and one of the numbers pretty deep like
in the two three hundred. Seventy one is let's see,
so seventy one, all right, Seventy one is Jojo Parker,
who is a kid hasn't played yet with the Toronto
Blue Jay. So let's do seventy seventy. There we go,
(43:15):
Darangelos and gent Is at seventy, so that'll be in
Sunday doing seventy one. We'll do seventy. He's the switch pitcher.
I believe eventually he's going to be just a right
handed power pitcher because he's got good stuff from the
right side. Unfortunately, he's got a five hundred slug as
a left handed pitcher, and batters are hitting almost three
hundred off of them. As a right handed hitter, it's
(43:38):
like a two to eighty four slug and a one
seventy five patting average. So it's he's ring up the
double A looks really good when he's pitching. I love
the whole concept, Tommy, as you do, of a switch pitcher.
But I think when he gets started off, it's going
to be if he gets a lefty killer, he'll problem
(44:00):
switch over to lefty. But I think eventually it's gonna
be right in a pitcher, he's gonna be really good.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Yeah, I was. The rules of baseball are such that
he has to declare before he throws his first pitch
to a batter, and he cannot change correct correct. Okay,
that's actually I don't know.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I don't know the rules. If if I'm a switch hitter,
can I do I have to do the same thing
I'm assuming you do.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
I would think so, Yeah, I would love to see
a switch hitter in him. Okay, driving umpires absolutely insane. Okay,
I think I think that'd be fun to watch. Okay, yeah,
that would be great.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
But Azelo Sangente really really interesting, interesting player, fun player
to I am in a bunch of dynasty leagues, so
people didn't anything to do with them, and I did.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Well, you know, there there's a reason. There's a reason
nobody it's is it a novelty thing? You know it
When you go back to when he was drafted. Yeah,
you look at everything and there's considerable risk there. Right,
It's it's not something you see every day. And as
(45:10):
a as a group, I think we have a tendency
to look at things outside of the box with a
dubious sort of reaction. Is that the right way and
possibly driving value down? Right?
Speaker 1 (45:24):
Plus, you always draft guys pictures that are drafted by
the UH Seattle Mariners. I mean Ryan Sloan is a
great example. I told everybody to go pick them up.
Of course I didn't pick them up at the first
year player drafts, but I mean that's just what they do.
They develop pictures and they get up to Seattle in
a great picture environment. They perform really really well. Just
(45:46):
look at their major league rotation, tim It's really good.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Yeah, very very good. Bryce Miller looks like he is.
He has found his niche now, and you're pitching much
better than we've seen him this year. So there's a
guy that I'm gonna I'm going to try and snags
a number four or five type.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
I think you should be able to get him. You
should be able to get him. Okay, to give me
your second.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Number, Yes, let's go with one hundred. And sixty eight.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
One and sixty eight Sterling Thompson from the Colorado Rockies.
Kind of a boring name. Yeah, first, he's a hit
first player, he's with the he's with the Colorado Rockies.
And I don't know Tim, he's probably gonna stink. He's
a good player though he's a he's a high floor player.
(46:39):
But every one of those guys, it's funny. When I
was doing my podcast for next week, I got up
to Ethan Ethan Holiday, who's way up in the list,
like number twenty or something like that. I go, let's
go see what Ethan Holiday's done this season, because I
haven't really been following him, and he's not hitting Tim
He's got a striking out forty percent of the time,
(46:59):
no home run, snow stolen pieces.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
No.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
I mean, it's just and it's like, uh, he's getting
he's getting rockied, you know, it's just like it's great.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Yeah, yes for only individuals who have you the Holiday roster. Yeah,
stay away from the stats till next year. Is that stage.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
But it just but it just sucks to have a
Colorado Rocky. But I like, I do like Sterling tom
I just since I did I think one sut it's
not a great How about one sixty nine TJ. TJ.
Nichols right in a picture with the Tampa Bay Rays,
who has been one of the real pop up guys
this season. It's a heavy fastball, slider guy throws ninety
(47:42):
nine miles an hour. Has I mean, he hasn't walked
anybody this season. He's been absolutely shoving it. I do
worry that he doesn't have a third pitch, but you
know how Tampa Bay can develop their pitchers. So he's
a guy that I have it on a bunch of teams,
and a really interesting guy that's teg A. Nichols.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
So what you're saying is you drop a dime on Nichols,
drop a dime.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
You'll like this time, You'll like this. So across High
in Double A he has struck at one hundred and
forty five and he's walked twenty six.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Well he's you got my attention in a big way,
you know the way I evaluate pitching.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Right Yeah, yeah, If you're thinking that's an anomaly, uh,
he's done the same thing in Double A as he's
done in High A. And then last season he was
a two point seven walks per nine so, and then
in twenty twenty three when he came into the league
one point eight. So he just has really good control.
He doesn't have a change up yet, but if he
(48:43):
gets that, this could be this could be a really
really high end pitcher. But it's a guy that.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
People should Yes, I was just gonna say in all
my dynasty leagues, take notice. I am interested. Get you,
get your great offers, ready to go?
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Okay, give me your third one, give me your third number.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
We what do we want to do with a third one?
I'm gonna go high on this one. Okay. I'm not
interested in for eighty seven or anything like that, but
let's let's go twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
First. I'm gonna take a looker's at for eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Uh Lizabell Diaz with the San Francisco Giants. So so
that's that's kind of boring. All right, what did you
say twenty eight?
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Yeah, let's try something in the twenties.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Well, Jonah Toong is twenty seven, which might be low.
So and I'm glad you didn't say twenty six because
that's Jordan. That's Jordan Lawler, and I got I got
nothing we're going to talk about him in a few
minutes because I have no I can't wait till he
gets off this damn list because I'm tired of talking
about them.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Yeah, it was time get a full time job, right exactly.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Bryce Rayner is at twenty eight, young kid drafted last
season by the tray Tigers. Was off to a scorching start,
looked great, but he blew out his knee. I think
it was in June and has been on the shelf
ever since. But he's one of those kids from Harvard Westlake,
which is where Max Freed went to Lucas Giolito. It's
(50:19):
a baseball factory out in Hollywood, California's a lot of
prominent movie stars send their kids to that school as well.
And Bryce Rayner is off. Was off to a really
good season, huge power, can hit, not a ton of speed.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Okay, yeah, I wasn't all I familiar with him. Sounds good.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
That's what you have me for. Tim. He played his
last He played his last game on June third. I'm sorry.
I had his shoulder injury that he got by diving
back to first base. So that's what it was. So
it's not good. It wasn't a guy injury at all.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
No, I hate hearing. I immediately think of who was
at the door back and basically ended his career.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
Oh I can see it.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
I can't yeah, h Milwaukee Brewer, I think, yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
I can't remember. Okay, last number two me is number one.
So tell me what number you would like to hear?
Number one?
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Okay, I think I would go with number one.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
Rich So this, first of all, the picture of the
year is going to be Jonah Thong. Everyone. It's easy.
He was He's been the best picture in the minor leagues.
He's been great. You've seen it in the major league.
Has already got to win. He's a pitcher of the year.
The player of the year is Connor Griffin, and the
number one prospect in baseball for me now is kind
(51:43):
of Griffin. I have been hesitant because I was worried
that he'd hit enough. But he destroyed Low A, he
destroyed high A, and now he's got to He hit
two home runs Friday night in Double A. Now he's
striking out a little bit more. But this guy Tim
looks like Fernando Tattist Junior. That's who he looks like.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
Wow, well, yeah, we're looking at what Yeah, thirty nine
at bats now at double A. Two omers, fifteen RBIs,
five stolen bases, a four H four OBP and the
nine seventeen ops. Yeah it as a nineteen year old
at double A that probably works.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
It's it's remarkable. Look, I had Max Clark there at
the last last cut, and if anybody's kid drum members know,
I wasn't happy with that selection because I wanted somebody
who was you want somebody like Connor Griffin at the top,
you know, somebody that's just like a wow. And I
just finally said, look, this is crazy, this is crazy.
You gotta you gotta put them up. Who do you think?
(52:44):
And I said this on my podcast that I will
come out next Sunday. Who do you think? Who is
put yourself in Rich Wilson's shoes? Who do you think
I think is the best player on this list?
Speaker 2 (52:57):
Oh? The best player on this list?
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Jesus my Day?
Speaker 2 (53:07):
Okay, Moday. Yeah, he's I was just doing it. I
was just doing a quick check to see what Wollcott's doing.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
Eh, Walcott's at number eight. He has Walcott's nineteen years old.
Jose Maday is eighteen. By the way, what good's not
been great? But he's in Double A again, another kid
that's been rushed. But my Day played well in the
in the DSL last season well and the skipped over
(53:33):
the Complex League in low way. But all of a
sudden he gets a HIGHA where the pitching gets better
and he's just exploded. And that dude, he might be.
He might be somebody in ten years that we're talking about,
like in, one of the best players to play in
this generation. I mean, he's that he could be that good.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
Do you think he could have He has the potential
to explode onto the scene, much the same as we've
seen from Junior Gamin Arrow this year.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
I think it's well, I think it's more Jackson Churio esque.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Okay, if you.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
Tell me that he's up in Double A by June
next season and people are starting to think, is he's
going to come up as a nineteen year old, I
don't think that's out of the question. I think he
comes up in twenty twenty seven, but it could very
well be a Jackson Cheerio where they sign him long
term and over, you know, coming into the twenty twenty
seven season. Ten if we do have a season member
(54:30):
collective bargain agreement everybody. He could be one of those
guys that people are talking about with, you know, one
of these Samuel Besiah Jackson Churia ninety million dollars over
eight years. Let's just sign them up and bring them
one up. He's good, Yeah, really good.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
Cool. Thank you so much for sharing that with us.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
Richard, it is and so patron members, you get all
five hundred names on wind this day. So Timmy, take
another break, get back, and I've got a bunch of
questions for you, and I'm hoping you've got answers.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
I don't have a very bold rich It's very bold.
I've been elevant.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
So I watched Kyle bradish a start on Tuesday. Came
back from the eye out, Timmy, you probably didn't watch it.
Oh my gosh, this stuff is nasty. I mean it
was move. Everything he threw was moving. No, what do
you heard his elbow? I mean it's right. I mean,
could he have some sneaky value the rest of the
(55:44):
season or next year?
Speaker 2 (55:48):
I the problem with Kyle Bright Everybody's going to be
on on this kid, right, I guess question? Yeah, So
the question is I don't think the sneaky value because
I think he's gonna get bumped up fairly quickly. I
think he. I think he's got the you know, you
(56:08):
take a look at Miseroskie, right, I bratish. I think
is although considerably older and gone through more trials and tribulations,
it's the same sort of situe. I think they're gonna
be They're gonna be overpaid for. I think rich. You know,
the hype set, the hype sets, and if he puts together,
(56:29):
you know, even two three starts before they shut him down,
assuming they you know what I mean, two or three
really good starts, all of a sudden, Hey, we're all
about this recency bias. He ain't gonna be cheap next year.
I can't get bumped you'll get bumped up good.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
I think he gave up two home runs so that, yes,
people look at it. I think with six innings pitched
two home runs. He gave up. But he struck on
eight and tim it was against the Reps.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
He struck out ten.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
They struck out I saw up to yeah, and it
was good. I mean the Red Sox had no shot.
I mean it was just the stuff was unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
So ten ten, ten strikeoats, no walks, Okay, yeah, what's
what's not to like other than the fact that he
hasn't pitched in excess of one one hundred and sixty
eight's they got up to one sixty eight. Okay, you
remember you go back to twenty twenty three, right, he
(57:32):
tossed thirty games, one hundred and sixty eight innings, one
hundred and sixty eight strikeoats with a two eighty three
e r A and one oh four whip. Yeah, if
he finished a strong. Our memories are such that that
that twenty twenty three season looks very good. I'd I'd
love to know what people were he went in twenty
(57:53):
twenty four, and I don't know off the top of
my head it was.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
It was really early. And again, guys, don't don't dismiss
the Orioles in twenty twenty six. I mean it looks
like Taylor Rogers, I mean just dominating cowb braidish back.
I mean, they need one more guy and it could
be real there. Speaking of the Orioles, Timmy, that we're
gonna talk about this last week. We didn't get to it.
(58:18):
In One of our Patren members went, what happened to
the Sam Samwell beside discussion. So he went four for fifteen, Timmy,
and they said, okay, that's good enough. Eight year, sixty
seven million dollar contracts. So it was pretty remarkable, similar
to what Jackson Curio did eight years and eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Well, I think there's an option year. I think there's another.
I think there's a fifteen or twenty million dollar option
on the top. He can bring it up there close
to ninety, I think.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
Okay, a good deal for the Orioles, good deal for Besida.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
What do you think a good deal for all concerned? Okay,
he's got him, so he's set up for life now.
Basidia is and looking at the age et cetera, et cetera.
If he delivers, he's gonna have a half a billion
dollar plus contract waiting for him before he's thirty. That's okay, right,
(59:12):
And the Orioles have locked somebody up now that they
obviously will leave in that could help guide them to
into the playoffs and hopefully a long run there. So yeah,
it's it's great all the way around. It really is.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
Yeah, I agree. I mean, I think teams have been
really smart to sign these guys up early, and we're
seeing a payoff in space for the Boston Red Sox.
I mean they're they're really setting themselves up. And good
on the Orioles for doing that, and I think good
on Samba Sia. Look, I don't I was trying to
find out what he originally signed for. I don't think
he was a big signee, and so you know, so,
(59:49):
I mean that's part of the problem. So you get
these kids that are coming out of America, Canada. You
know that they're signing contracts. You know, they get signing
bonuses of eight million dollars. Well they can they can
let it ride to me. You're like, okay, let me
see if I can wait for the big payday. But
you come out of the Dominican, you know, with a
(01:00:10):
fifty thousand dollars signing, but it you're out of money.
So all of a sudden, the team comes to you
and says, hey, I can make you rich and you
don't have to worry about where you're going to live tomorrow.
And a lot of times the kids will take.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
Him well, and let's face it, as good as sam
Basiah as Besiah has been thus far in his career. Okay,
looking three years down the road, we don't know whether
he is going to be a fifteen seventy five two
sixty batting average type player, okay with so so skills
(01:00:45):
behind the plate, right, or or is he going to
be at thirty one hundred type? You know you don't
know that. So from a player's point of view, to
be turning down deals of this nature, I know if
it was my kid, I know where I'd say to me.
If you sit, take the cash, prove that you're as
good as you you're advertised, and when it comes time
(01:01:09):
to age twenty seven twenty eight, you got the big bucks.
And if it doesn't work out, you're set for life.
Either way, you win, and that's that's what you want, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
I mean I spend a lot of time talking about
this is because I'm interested in it, and I spend
a lot of time with agents, so I understand everybody's
thinking around this subject matter. And if we take a look.
We talked about Ethan Holiday earlier in Jackson Holiday's Kids
of Matt Holiday. So these kids have been wealthy their
entire lives. Both of them signed for huge sums of
(01:01:44):
money eight to nine million dollars. There's zero incentive for
them to sign a team friendly deal. They don't need to.
They have the money, they have the potential, they can
wait it out. You take a look at somebody in
a different socioeconomic situation who might be from a poor,
poor Latin America country that's got people that are are
(01:02:06):
leaning on them to make money, to send money back home.
It's a different mindset. So you see a lot of
these Latin kids cutting deals just because they they have to,
and it's it's the right thing for their situation.
Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
And you know what, if you don't have wealthy parents, okay,
and your parents took you to every every evaluation camp
known to man, they mortgage their home three times. Okay. Again,
the same situation can happen with North America. And hey,
if it was my kid, I would say, Jimmy wants
(01:02:41):
a new home. Okay, come on, let's get it. Let's
get this program going. You know what I mean. Yeah,
I don't want Yeah, I'm tired to drive through Okay.
I'm not saying to give your services away for nothing.
But at the same point in time, it's it's the
nature of the game. It's the way the game is. Wait. Financially,
if you're going to to buck that you better have
(01:03:04):
something really good. Okay, you're you better be playing with
a full deck, Okay, not twenty six of the fifty
two cards.
Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
I totally agree with you, and I think every situation
is different and unique. And I think teams when they
try to figure out the players they want to sign,
I mean sometimes they will consider kids of needs over
kids of who are been more fortunate, just so that
they can play these cards right and try to tie
(01:03:35):
somebody in for a less money. Remember Roman Anthony dis
not sign It was not a he was a first
round draft pick, but he wasn't one of the big
huge signings, right, So they were able to go into him,
and they had to pay more money, but they were
able to cut a deal with them. And that's just
the way the game is played.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Yeah, and let's face it, if those kids deliver, okay,
the rewards will be there. If they just have an
average type career, they've still done very well. So I
you know, hey, if you are you gonna turn down
an eight year, okay, an eight year eighty three million
dollars offer to try and get eighty four or five,
(01:04:16):
you know, it's yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Yep, that's on with your life. That's why I think
he's news my day, is probably a prime prime candidate.
He signed for eight nine hundred thousand dollars good money,
probably got to give most of that back to his family. Yeah.
Uh so he'll probably sign a team friendly deal and uh,
he'll be happy. Everybody's everybody wins, but it's.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Just yeah, your number one pick. We'll do the same
thing with Pittsburgh. He'll sign a four year, eight hundred
and fifty thousand dollars deal and he'll.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
Yeah. It's funny when the podcast that I was trying
to go through, this scenario of Connor Griffin coming up.
Is he going to come up in time to anchor
that offense before Paul Skeens is going to free agency
and Paul Skeens could be insane sums of money and
there's no way the Pirates are gonna And so he's
four years away from free agency, but he's really three
(01:05:07):
because the Pirates got to figure out what to do
in the next three years, whether they keep them for
that last year or trade them. So time is ticking
on some of these kids, and the Pirates, I think
have got to really start rushing some of these young
kids to see if they can make things happen.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Well, yeah, and all you have, all you have to
do is look historically at the at the Pittsburgh Pittsburgh
Pirates and didn't they have a picture? What was his name?
He's in New York now, yeah, yeah, exactly. You're gonna
see the same situation is with Garrett Coole. When it
(01:05:46):
comes to Ski. They're not going to sign him. They'll
trade them with a year left before and a smart
team will probably attempt to reach some sort of a
deal during that period of time and lock them up, right, But.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
The Pirates are not gonna Just like the Milwaukee person,
I'm not locking up Freddy Paralta. They're they're Freddy Parolta
is going to be a fortune and they can't afford him.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
No, No, that's that's out. That's out of the you know,
They're they're hoping that Logan, Logan moves into the spot
and that's how they Heders, yeah, exactly, or one of
the other kids.
Speaker 1 (01:06:20):
If I'm Jacob Mazarowski, if I'm the Brewers, I might
try to cut a deal with him, because I mean,
I think you can argue with his delivery and how
hardy throws that there's probably going to be some injuries
down the road and you might be able to convince
him to take a more team friendly deal. Now, whether
the Brewers are going to want to take that risk
(01:06:41):
on I don't know, but that might be somebody you
can actually get for a little cheaper than waiting until
he goes a free agency. If he's healthy, he's going
to be four hundred million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Yeah, big books, way way out of there. Yeah, not
even in the neighborhood.
Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
All right, So, so so how do you think the
Orioles used beside the rest of the season. Do you
think he gets enough games and a catcher? And if
you could, as you're answering that, could you go to
that doctor whatever site that you use to fight out
how many games he's had at catching?
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Yes, I certainly can. As a matter of fact, I was.
I was just on that site, believe it or not,
because I was looking. I was cheating as to one
of our one of our next questions. But right now
I believe. Okay, let's just try catcher here, catcher twenty
(01:07:36):
twenty five games played? I submit. I'm pretty sure he's
going to qualify.
Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
What's he at?
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Oh? Catcher twenty twenty five? Oh? Let's go a little lower,
like one game.
Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
It didn't like the first number I threw in there. No,
he's up to seven games.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
Oh really? Also he's he's gonna make it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Yeah, because isn't Adley Richmond. Isn't he out for the
balance of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
I'll just I will just find that out right now.
Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
To Monday. I didn't realize that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Wow, yeah, he's reading something. Yeah. And the other guy
who's going to get catcher ability, I believe he already
has as a kid in New York. Right, there's some
question as to whether or not he would get eligibility,
and I believe I believe he already has. But I
will tell you right now, Ben Rice twenty six games, Yeah,
(01:08:53):
which is huge. You know you don't want Ben Rice
at first base per se, but Catcher that's yeah, that
that boosts his stock for the purposes of our game
in a big way of it. Yeah. I think I
think Slam and Sammy's he's gonna have catch your eligibility.
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
I think slam it sound that is your name.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
That's it?
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Yeah, I've I've I've gone from cowboy cool the slam
Azamy how's that so?
Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
Adli Rutchman is a free agent in twoenty twenty eight.
Let's say Sam Sam Wilbasaiah three home runs, hits two
forty two fifty looks okay? Catching They've got him twenty
six seven, they got him for three more seasons. Do
the Orioles trade Adlie rutchmant or do they keep him?
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
I think odds are good that they make a deal.
And what do the Orioles need? They need some pitching.
I wouldn't be at all shocked if Adley Rushman's moved.
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
I think they could get a watching for him.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
Mm hmmm. I think he's a.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Good defensive catchers three years of team control left and
offensively is okay? I think I think he commands a
lot of money.
Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Yes, and I a lot of money, a lot of respect,
And I think it could fulfill a need for the
Baltimore Orioles that might make things work. When you look
at you know, Gunner and Holiday, you know, yeah, the
Orioles have They don't have a bad team, but they
(01:10:33):
need pitching. And if this would allow them the opportunity
to procure that pitching, how do you say no to
making your team better? As a whole.
Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
I agree, particularly if you've got you've got Bradish coming
back and Taylor Rodgers is only controlled for one more year. Yeah,
if they get Grayson Robert, I mean that's three really
good pitchers at the top. You could start to really
add in some guys. And it's not guy uh Sigano.
I mean maybe they could bring him back as a
number five, but they need another guy at the top.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Yeah, they got again next year, but after next year,
I believe he's done's yeah, I think it's a two
year deal. Yeah, so they've got him for another year.
After that, he'll be thirty seven, thirty eight, you know,
I mean that. Yeah, I think it would have worked
(01:11:28):
had this year shaken down a little differently, and it didn't,
so Sey Levie, So.
Speaker 1 (01:11:34):
Native Valdi joins Zach Wheeler done for the season. Who
gets their starts the rest of the season, particularly Zach
is particularly Nate of VOLDI.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Native Valdi, that's just well right now, he's been terrible. Uh.
Tell me what you know about Jacob Blatz.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
Not a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Yeah, it's about the same as me. I'm bouncing back
and I you know, this hyper speed computer of mind.
Jacob Blatz is a life saver. He's a twenty nine
year old. He moved him, moved him from the pen
into the rotation.
Speaker 1 (01:12:24):
That's not interesting at all.
Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
No. Four or four in the third innings is as
big as they're building up his arm strength. Okay, July,
he pitched one game in twentieth five. Yeah, it looks
like Jacob Latz is going to hold on the flour
and his numbers are not all that bad.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
The Walkser, Yeah, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Just your pipe, your pitching pickup.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Uh, I hope you got somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Yeah, yeah, he's not. He's not my my last choice,
but it's yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
Oh boy, I'll give you a rim shot on that.
It's barely let's move under. Luis Morales. You were a
little like.
Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
I think, a little wit forgot Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Oh, Philip, what about Zach Wheeler who gets picked up
in Philadelphia? For Zach Wheeler starts.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
That's okay. They had six guys and then they're now
down to five Suarez, Nola, Walker, Lozardo and Christopher Sanchez.
They're down to if this, if that doesn't work out, Uh,
Andrew Painter, Maybe I.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Know everybody's been clamoring for Anchipe. This hasn't been very
good this season.
Speaker 2 (01:13:41):
Yeah, you know. Yeah, you look at you look at
their the Triple A kids, and they're all between twenty
six and thirty three. Okay, you gotta go down to
Double A and hey, here's a name for it. I
don't know how he's pitching, But Matt Manning he's in
their system?
Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
Is he really? I had deftly lost I've lost the
threat on where he is. Wow, I didn't realize that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Yeah, but yeah, I I don't think there's any They
got their five starters, and I think that's what they're
That's that's what they're gonna be, gonna be real. Yeah,
they July. So, Yeah, it's that dadline at the deadline.
They acquired They acquired him. Man, oh, how has he
(01:14:30):
been pitting? He hasn't pitched. Yeah, anyhow, let's forget about
Matt Manning and move on. Sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Yeah, further along in the minor leagues, I mean that
it's Cage Wood, he's a little he's just got drafted.
He's not there. Jean Cabrera, it's okay. Lower So they
don't have anybody outside of Andrew Paynter. Yeah, and he
hasn't pitched well that tent brought up as we were
coming on the air that the Cubs picked up Carlos
(01:14:59):
Santana forty year old Santana, thirty eight year old Santana,
and then Tim and I quickly looked at Michael Bush.
What he was doing from a left handed standpoint against lefties,
and guys, it's not good. He's got twenty six some runs,
twenty four hit against right handed, right handed pitching, and
it is some ugly looking splits there, Timmy, does he
(01:15:21):
officially lose playing time now that Carlos Santana has come
on board?
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Well, Santana's going to play somewhere right.
Speaker 4 (01:15:29):
So weak side of the plat yeah, weak side, weak side, yeah,
because you know Bush has had you know Santana will
be around this year, and I believe he's going year
to year on the contract.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
She's thirty nine now, Mike, Michael Bush might be a
little ticked off by this maneuver, but I don't think
it affects Michael Bush's long term at all.
Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
But he's gonna he's got to learn his lefties or
he's gonna be He.
Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Does, yeah, he does, but he could be a very
good and useful platoon guy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
I agree. Now, if you can hit thirty home runs
as a platoon guy, yeah, it's pretty dark good.
Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Yeah and he and again, the Cubs have been hitting
him at the top of the lineup, so obviously they
believe in this kid. This is just something to improve
their chances this year. Okay, and hey, good for the Cubs.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Just so everybody knows against left handed pitching. Again, it's
only eighty four plate appearance as I get it, one
batting average of two sixty two on base percentage and
a two ninety nine slug That screams the Cubs had
to do something. They got to find a They got
to find an answer to that because they're fighting to
get into the playoffs and go deep in the playoffs
and they can't have a guy that's an out, automatic
(01:16:49):
out at first base.
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Yeah they can have They can have him next year
for April, May and June in the hopes that better
days are ahead. But this is in April, May and June.
This is September.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Yep uh, tim uh Luis Morales, we talked about a
couple of weeks ago. You rightly said that the Athletics
were using him in the bullpen. I said, I think
he's a starter. Turns out he's a starter. In five games,
four starts, he's posted a one nineteen e ar a
closest strikeout at any that does haven't expected era four
sixty four. How do you feel about him now?
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Uh? Well, I've got him on three three of my teams.
I think great, My, Mike. My concern with my concern say.
Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
As I don't do as I say? What would be
the same that?
Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Hey? The saying is very simple. I got Tanner Biby
in a million leagues. He's killing me. Damn, I gotta
do something, Mike, Mike. Concern with Morales was the fact
that I didn't know that you know at that time
whether or not he was going to be a two
(01:18:01):
to four inning type guy. I was concerned about the workload, okay,
since August tenth, when he pitched two and two thirds.
On the sixteenth, he went five innings. On the twenty second,
he went six. On the twenty seventh, he went seven
innings a two hitter against the Tigers, okay, with two walks,
(01:18:21):
seven strikeouts. So my concern was whether or not the work,
the workload would be there, and it appears that it
is so. How can Hey, how can you argue with
an arm that has got two wins in his past
three games and allowed a total of two earn durruns.
You got to go with it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
Yeah, I think what's what's amazing, And you know we're
talking about a lot on this podcast is usually you
see young pitchers come up and they went the bed
more times than not. But at least over the last
month or so, these pitchers that have come up have
shoved at tim.
Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
Yeah, oh yeah, that's yeah. We've seen some very very
strong performances by young pitching late into the season. And uh,
for our games. I love it from our for our
from our games perspective. It just adds another little bit
variable in there. Come next spring, okay, and how do
(01:19:20):
we approach these guys? And I know it's when we
discuss pitching in the off season. It's good book. At
least two podcasts. Rich, Yeah, it's yeah, it's it's gonna be.
It's going to be a handful, really, you know, with injuries,
players missing, you know, missing lineup players coming back from injury.
(01:19:43):
It's there's a lot, an awful lot to consider, especially
now that you start adding these kids that are showing
maybe a little bit early potential.
Speaker 1 (01:19:55):
Yep, all right, Timmy, let's let's let's shift, let's pivot
the conversation. We talked about Jordan Lawler when we're doing
the of the prospects, and I'm truly I have no answers.
I don't know. I mean, I'm looking at his triple
A in sixty three games. To me, just sixty three games,
eleven harm runs, twenty stolen bases, A three thirteen batty armers.
Granted the PCL you have to tick that with a
(01:20:16):
grain of salt. But he's good. Twenty three twenty, Harm
runs thirty six and he gets to the major leagues
and he stinks. I don't know what to think anymore.
Tell me what I should be thinking about with short Lawler.
Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
H Hey, if at first you don't succeed, Okay, cry
try again. There's too much talent there. The kid asked.
He will, He'll find a way to make it work. Okay.
I'm confident that Jordan Lawler will be a very good
(01:20:53):
baseball player. Hey, it might not be this year, but
what I am happy to see is they're giving him
the opportunity to get the at bats. And when you
start looking at the lineup. Okay in Arizona, Okay, you
know nobody, nobody's gonna steal Perdomo's job or Kate el
martege short stop second. But the last time I laze
(01:21:15):
Alexander at third, you look at the out you look
at the outfield, and you get McCarthy, Alex Thomas, and
Corby and Carroll's locked in. But you get Alex Alex
Thomas and are at d H.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
And center field, which is ultimately where I think you
should play.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
But yeah, I I I agree, and what do I
what do I know? Apparently, but there will be a
spot for him in that lineup next spring, and between
you and you, me and the fence post. If he
doesn't do great over the next four weeks, I'm I'm
(01:21:55):
still okay with that. It's not going to sway your
changed by opinion. Heading into next year. I I can
see him being on quite a few of my teams
as elite as a late pick next.
Speaker 1 (01:22:08):
Year, and you'll be able to get a late because
I mean, I don't know, I don't know who pitched
on the twenty ninth that was against the Dodgers, but
it was his first game back in the Major League
since since May went over four with three strikeouts. I mean,
that's just it's, yeah, the tiniest of tiny sample size,
but it seems like that's what happens every time.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Tell you he's still only twenty three years old. I
don't know. I know how you walk away with a
kid with that much talent at twenty three. I can't. Okay, now,
I'm kno going over I'm not going to overpay for it.
But hey, when you start looking at targets in the last,
you know, five rounds of a draft, Yeah, that that
(01:22:51):
seems to me to be a player, you might want
to toss a Dardad.
Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
Yep, I agree, but I hope he lose his prospect eligibility.
I really don't want to write about him anymore. I've
been just I'm tired of it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Is that? Okay? Yeah, no, that's that's perfectly okay.
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
Because I could turn them over to you, like.
Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
Well, yeah, I'll trade canner Byby okay for Jordan Lawler.
Speaker 1 (01:23:18):
In the minor leagues. Now I understand, Okay, Sander Bogart
sits the I l fractured his foot off ballon and
ball office, but not good? Who gets this playing time?
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
Uh? I'm glad I don't have dial up. Still, we'd
never get through today, Richard Be, it'd be all over.
It looks like they're going to the talented singer Josea Glaciers.
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
Oh so there's nothing mm.
Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
Now, Mason McCoy, Will Wagner, No, it's yeah, yeah, they
got the Glaciers. Yeah, the gloves, the gloves there.
Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Yeah, that last question before we take a quick break.
This just came all the wire a few days ago.
That's Randy Rodriguez after the Giants moved their closer over
to was it the Yankees? Right, so they give the
job to Ryder Rogue. He's now having Yeah, yeah too,
wel right, and Rainder Rorigue is now having Tommy Johnson,
(01:24:18):
who is going to miss the rest of this season
likely next season. What do you yeah, where are you
speculating in San Francisco?
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
There is no speculating to be had in San Francisco.
It's Ryan Walker, the guy who started, the guy who
started the season. I believe as a top fifteen type closer.
He's up to twelve saves now's I have. He's pretty
(01:24:47):
well got the job. And you know what if you
go back and you look at say to July twenty ninth.
Let's let's just go back to the end of July
and his past past twelve outings. He's allowed one earned
run in one game against the Mets. He has three wins.
He's got his e R down from low low fours
(01:25:10):
into mid threes, and saved back to back games the
twenty fourth and twenty sixth Ryan Ryan Walker is your guy.
And I actually because I because of the way things
I actually had him in a couple of weeks still
sitting in my reserves. So it's nice, nice little bonus.
Speaker 1 (01:25:30):
Why does this sound like Russell and Glaciers.
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
Yeah, Struggles lost his job and doesn't think Glaciers have
the job back.
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
Glaciers has more than his job back. Yeah, he's probably
back to being a top ten. Yeah he's been. He's
been pitching lights out. I don't know what the past
three four days. But yeah, Glaciers has been looking absolutely
great in the second half. Yeah, and why can't And hey,
Ryan Walker's got to be at least six seven years younger.
He's only twenty nine. Yeah, you know, he lost a job,
(01:26:09):
he struggled for a bit. Who's to say he can't.
He can't be the Ryan Walker that we anticipated at
the beginning of the year. He went through a rough spell. Hey,
he's got to be the favorite going into next year.
I would think, as well, I know, my good friend,
I'm Bob King. I let's spend three dollars on Ryan Walker.
(01:26:30):
He's a free agent. There's a couple of weeks ago
he and Bob. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
Oh wow, so so Bob. Yeah, Bob's good player. Yeah,
yeah he.
Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
Did.
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
He also grab totally and tong in that same league.
Speaker 2 (01:26:46):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 1 (01:26:47):
Wow. Yeah, that's awesome. Let's let's take up. Yeah, let's
let's take our final break and get back. Let's se
who Tim's going to pick up? All right, So I'm
(01:27:10):
looking at my agenda for our trip to Paris, which
we leave tomorrow five forty five Une fifty seven to Paris.
This is some of the stuff we'll be doing. Uh,
I'm gonna go see Claude Monett's house. He's the impressionist painter.
We're gonna take a trip. I think it's an hour
outside of Paris see his home.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
He impersonates painting. That's right, I'm lost here.
Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Rich that's one of that's when Laurie's a bucket list,
she definitely wants to see that. Apparently it's a must see.
We're gonna go to the Louver the next day. You
see the Mona. Lisa getting a private tour of that.
Pretty excited about that. We're also going to the Music
de la Rage, which is another Impressionist painting. That's Laurie's
(01:27:57):
really into Impressionist painting, going to do that. He at
the at the George V. We're staying at the George
V and that's uh, apparently a very fancy high tea,
so we're doing that. One day. I just booked a
dinner cruise on the Seine, so we're gonna be uh.
It was funny. So we were looking at a three
(01:28:17):
hour dinner cruise. I said, well, there's a three hour
dinner cruise that we go, and there's the dinner and
dancing on the cruise going down the Seine. You look
at all Apparently Paris is a city of lights, so
you look at all the lights and she goes, wait
a minute, didn't some other boat go out for three hours?
Maybe that's not a good idea, Like okay, yeah, that's
(01:28:38):
probably not. Let's let's go for an hour and a
half or two. So we're taking a.
Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
Trip, yes exactly. And if your skipper is if you
see Gilligan, Okay, it might not, might not be a.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
Can you imagine a cruise? Could you imagine if you're
on a cruise and Bob Denver, who played Gilligan, shows up,
you must be like, oh my god, I'm gonna get
off of this thing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
Cost a life jacket.
Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
Actually think Bob, Bob, Bob Dinver so longer with us?
Is he didn't he just?
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
Yeah? I think he might have. Yeah, I like I
really did.
Speaker 1 (01:29:18):
I don't know. Is anybody still alive from that show?
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
Oh? I think Maryanns recently asked.
Speaker 1 (01:29:27):
May not be anybody left?
Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
Yeah, we're getting we're getting old, I know, So those
are someone still alive? Well, tho's that's that's that's the
stuff I'm doing.
Speaker 1 (01:29:42):
Uh, some of the stuff from activities we've got, we're
not going to try to pack it in too much,
but some stuff that we're gonna go see. So if
anybody's got another suggestion, reach out and let me know.
Must do and Paris So this might be the this
might be the last time we go. So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:29:59):
Well, I I hope you have a wonderful time rich.
Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
Yeah, for all my league mates, I will not be
paying attention next week's so you can.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
Actually there's no more trading in our leagues.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
But uh yeah, I was. I was gonna say it
wouldn't be a good week to make you a trade offer.
Na that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:18):
Yeah, but I you know, I'm glued to my phone
and my devices, so it's just the way it is.
So okay, tell me, tell me, tell me who we're
picking up? Who you picking up? Give me a picture?
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Okay, Well I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna give you
a hitter just because he's gonna play. Okay, because I
have been neglect of my duties the past three four
years as I've been delevanting Michael Hellman.
Speaker 1 (01:30:46):
Okay, why am I picking him up?
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
You're picking him up because Texas needs a no fielder, Okay.
And it looks like Michael Hellman's going to be patrolling
center field for the Texas Rangers for the next while
they lost by Evan Carter. He's gone for the year, right.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
And was he ever really here?
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Yeah? Good, yeah, valid point.
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
But he s helme is a career minor leaguer. Is
pretty much twenty nine years old, fourteen games, three home runs,
two eighty six batting average, has always made really good contact,
a little bit of speed, a little bit of power.
Not the worst pick in the world, mister McLeod.
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
No, and let's face it, he's probably you know, they
picked up after the Marriners, let dill it Moore, they
picked more up. But I think I think they're gonna
I think Helme is going to get a good opportunity
for playing time in Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:31:49):
Right now, Yeah, all right, who's your pitcher?
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Oh well, Ryan Walker? If you need saves in redraft leagues. Hey,
we've we've seen all the young kids. Pick Hey, if
totally's there, Tom is there. McLean shouldn't be there at
this stage. Okay, he should be rostered all over the place.
(01:32:15):
But pick yourself a young starter and and roll with it.
Kyle Bradish is another guy. Okay, Yeah, there's lots of
pitching opportunities this this weekend. Luis Morales, there's a there's
a there's another name that might possibly still be sitting
out there. But yeah, hey, if you need says, Ryan
(01:32:38):
Walker is the guy. Guy should be looking at any
of those young pictures. What I would do is I'd
string them all together in a row, pick your favorite,
and bit accordingly, knowing that if you don't have no cash,
you ain't gonna have no picture. Anybody who has any
any money left is going to be spending the bulk
(01:32:59):
of it this weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
I would think I'm trying to channel, always trying to
channel my enter to McLeod and I keep thinking that
the Miami Marlins are going to rest Sandy al Contra
and his brother, Sandy Alcntara. I mean, it's some funny
said he's at one hundred and forty nine innings. You
wouldn't think you'd go more than one or two more starts.
(01:33:22):
And I have to believe they're going to give Robbie
Snelling a start or two down the down the stretch here.
So that's another guy that I find very curious.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
Yeah, I actually picked up I recommended Spelling a few
weeks back, and I picked him up, and I picked
him up in total stashed him. I think it's a
great I think it's a great call over Rich And yeah,
you tell us Uri President, you know how much how
much more are they going to give Ury Prez really
well here and I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
Well, I mean I was thinking about that too. At
least he's coming back from Tommy John surgery very recent,
but he only started pitching in June, so maybe they
want to see him for the rest of the season.
But Santiaca Terra, I mean, why on earth would you
push this guy much more? I mean, it's like he's
had a tough season, Let's face it. I mean, what
do you what do you what do you want to
(01:34:12):
see from this guy? And the Marlins are smart with
their pitchers. I would think there's an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
Totally agree. Good call, and.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
I I look, Tim and I have tried to figure
out a lot of teams and we've given up on
the Colorado Rockies. I think that's correct, right, We're done.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
We don't We have nothing, yes, other than trade offers. Yeah,
not very much happened there.
Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
But the Saint Louis Cardinals. There is zero reason for
JJ weatherhol to still be in the minor league. Zero.
And I don't know what's going on there at all.
Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
Ah. Could it be one of those eight to ten
year contract offers that somebody's not accepting.
Speaker 1 (01:34:56):
It could be I mean, it could anything can happen.
But again, he's he's one, he's you know, he's a
guy that signed seven eight million dollars I as we
talked about it earlier. I mean, does he really need
to have that kind of money when he's sitting there,
he's already pocketed seven million. That's a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (01:35:15):
Yeah. No, I I don't know. That doesn't make sense
to me. Because with the year the weatherholes had, I
figured for sure he would be up.
Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
He should have been up already.
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Yeah, yeah, I figured towards the end of August September
at the latest. And you know they did call a
couple of their kids up, didn't they. Yes, yeah, yeh yeah.
So what's what's up with JJ? Do they have no
place they can play him? I well, I can't believe that.
Speaker 1 (01:35:41):
I think I've looked at it. I mean, Nolan Gorman,
I don't know if he's the answer at third base.
And I would have thought that and JJ Weatherhol's been
playing a lot of third base recently. Seemed like they
were setting them up. Maybe they're not happy with what
he's doing at third base. I don't know, but I
was really surprised with that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Yeah, you would think a player of his caliber should
get at least a cup of coffee in September. Yeah,
I get your feet wet a little bit before things
get real serious next spring, Right.
Speaker 1 (01:36:13):
That's what you would think. You would think that he
is their Connor Griffin like he is. He is the
guy that they want to build their offense around because
the guys are getting older. But he's the young, potential
five tool guy that you want to build around. And
it would seem like he's a perfect guy to break
up in September. Let the hazing get out of the way,
(01:36:33):
let him get a couple of hits under his belt.
So he comes in spring training feeling really good.
Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
Yeah, and you know what, despite not having a great
year this year, there's been a lot of injuries, challenges, problems. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
I'm not down on Mason Win at all.
Speaker 1 (01:36:53):
I agree. I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
He's twenty three years old. He's going to be a
guy that is going to be on If I decided
to go a little bit late on middle invaler I
can see finding room for Mason Win on my team's
next year.
Speaker 1 (01:37:06):
Rich Well, you you I think you. I think you
imparted on some of his shares this year's season, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
Yeah, I've I I have shares in in keeper leagues definitely.
And he's not going anywhere, Timmy.
Speaker 1 (01:37:23):
That is a wrap. I thought everyone would give them
a long podcast since we didn't do a lot of Friday,
so it's over an hour and a half of good stuff.
I think I thought we had. I had a lot
of fun, so hopefully.
Speaker 2 (01:37:34):
Yes, And on top of that, spiritually, I feel very
content and plus, Okay, go go, go go for spread
the spread the word and all of us to everybody
as we get into them last few weeks. Chase those
accountables and go get your done folks.
Speaker 1 (01:37:55):
For sure, for sure, Timmy, you have a good week.
We will talk. When's the next time we're going to talk? Talk?
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
What's the next time we're gonna Okay, where are we here?
Speaker 1 (01:38:04):
I'm back in on Tuesday and you're you said you're
out of out of here on Wednesday, right or something like.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
That on Wednesday. Yeah, it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday, the
twenty sixth, twenty seventh.
Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
Yeah, we're in there, twenty six Now, that's that's early September.
Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Oh, sorry I'm looking at all. Sorry, it's one two three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ninth,
tenth of September.
Speaker 1 (01:38:28):
Sorry, so maybe we'll try to do a podcast on
the ninth for everyone. Yeah, I don't know, probably won't
be very good notes, but so we can always find
that talk.
Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
About I was gonna say, yeah, and the words of
the great Lenny Meldeck. Let's wing it.
Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
How was Lenny doing? I think he had some health problems.
Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
Yeah, he had some hell health he's doing he's doing better.
Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
The last Oh, that's good, that's good. That's just loss
contact with the guy. It's a very very nice man,
so I wish him all.
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
The very much.
Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
Timmy, have a good couple of weeks. We'll be back
in touch with everybody, patron members, Lots of content coming
your way. You've got them all stacked up for everybody
else as well, so you'll have stuff to listen to
and at least get from us this week. And Tim
and I went back before you know it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Yes, And I'll be hanging order the Discord site next weekend,
trying to give you as much as I possibly can
as far as weaverware options. Again, great crew out there,
a lot of fun then, Rich you and Laurie uh
congratulations and have yourself.
Speaker 1 (01:39:33):
Fortieth wedding anniversary. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
Wow, forty years congratulations, congratulations.
Speaker 1 (01:39:42):
All right, guys, take care, Timmy, be well
Speaker 2 (01:39:45):
Be safe, be will
