Speaker 1 (00:00):
Greetings everyone. It is rich. Today is August thirtieth, about
two o'clock in the afternoon here in the beautiful Northeast again,
beautiful sunny day, seventy two degrees in August. It's absolutely insane.
I am prepping a lot of content for everyone. This
is primarily to our Patreon members, though I'm going to

(00:23):
allow everyone to listen in on this podcast as we're
doing the Hot Prospects of the month of August, and
so Tim and I will be doing our podcast on
Sunday Tomorrow. Tim is not able to put together the
waiver wires, so it's going to be kind of an
abbreviated one. So you have already heard that. I'm sure

(00:44):
we'll come up with something good for you. Monday is
our typical Daily Notes drop with the Baseball Savant breakdown
of Peyton toley in Jonah Toong great outings along with
and I've already got seven or eight guys written up,
so probably you know the normal fifty guys that I
come out with on Monday. Tuesday, the Hot Prospects of

(01:06):
the Week drop. This podcast will probably come out a
couple of days after that. I haven't really scheduled it
yet and then on Wednesday, the top five hundred prospects
in baseball come out update it list, and then for
everyone the top one hundred prospects come out. So if
you're listening to this, you're not a member of our

(01:26):
Patreon site Patrio in dot com forward Slash Prospect three
sixty one. Lots of really good stuff going on at
the site you get as you're hearing with this. There's
no intros and things like that to the podcast that
I do specifically for a Patreon members, but all podcasts
are at free. You get access to Tim and the

(01:47):
discord side, you get access to me on the main site.
I do all the writing, you get the waiver wires
six hours before everybody else does. It's good, it's fun.
I think we provide a lot of value. So today
is our Hot Prospects of the week. And you know
I tell you before we not the season is going

(02:09):
to be over. Well, it is already over for short
seasons done. The DSL is done. Low Way. This is
the last week for Low A Baseball, so their championships
start week after next of the week of September eighth,
and then there's only two weeks left of Double A
ball and then their championships start two weeks from Tuesday,

(02:32):
and then TRIPAA has probably another three or four weeks,
I'm not exactly sure. It finishes. One are about the
same time Major League Baseball does, So we are wrapping
this thing up. And so I've got twenty names of
the players that excelled in August. There was probably going
to put fifty down. A lot of these guys are famous,

(02:52):
a couple of guys maybe aren't so famous. So this
is kind of the best of the best. And as
I write my intro, the cream is definitely right to
the top as we get to the end of the
season here, and the first guy is Justin Crawford outfield
of the Philadelphia Phillies and Triple A. And one of
the things I've been writing about for the last two years,

(03:14):
obviously the son of Carl Crawford. So every remembers Carl
Crawford from the Rays, and I don't know outside he
was famous with the Rays actually for a couple of years,
top five Fantasy player, so he's his son. So you
liked the baseball lineage, but he's never showed any power
at all, and this month he had four home runs

(03:36):
stole ten bases, five doubles, so a triple, so we're
talking nine extra base hits for the kid, and he's
never done that ever. Now, he did add a little
bit of leverage to a swing, and he struck out
a lot more twenty one strikeouts, which you kind of
expect when you're trying to show a little bit more power.
But I think I'll take that trade off. I it'd

(03:58):
be great if we could see ten to fifty home
runs from him, because he's going to steal fifty bases,
forty bases, it's going to be really really good. If
he doesn't show the power, then I think there is
some fourth outfield or risks. So I was really encouraged
by his month, and hopefully, as we've seen with a
couple of other guys, and Aiden Smith is one of that,

(04:21):
Aiden Smith, Aiden Miller, Aiden Smith and Aiden Miller mixed
up all the time. Aid Miller of the Phillies in
Double A the same organization is a guy that had
struggled all season long and has started to put it
together in August. So hopefully these just aren't hot streaks.
So we need to see more of this from Crawford
here over the last three to four weeks of the

(04:43):
season here in Triple A, that maybe he's turned over
a new leaf, finding a bit more power. If he does,
this guy's chance to be a star. I mean, I
really believe that if he can't, then all of a sudden,
that ceiling goes way down and it could be, you know, outfielder,
where does he play? When is there going to be
an opportunity next season for him in the outfield? I mean,

(05:07):
the Phillies has struggled for a long time trying to
find a, you know, a solid center fielder. I know
they've used Brandon marsh out there a lot. But and
then the other kid, Rojas, who always liked a really
fast guy. He was a fourth outfielder because he just
has never really showed any power. So I think that
opportunity is out there for Justin Crawford. Hope he can

(05:29):
take advantage of it. The second guy is Carter Jensen.
Carter Jensen, I think maybe there's a theme here in
a lot of these players that August was a different
type of month than what we've seen in other parts
of the season. And Carter Jensen played okay in Double A.
I mean, he was fine, but as soon as he

(05:51):
got to the PCL and I checked the places that
he played, and he was playing in a lot of
big ballparks, hitters ballparks, and just has been on fire.
Three twenty three batting average, six doubles, five home runs,
a triple. So once he got the triple a things
kind of open. Now is it going to continue at

(06:12):
that pace? Now? But this is a very very good player.
I think there's fifteen to twenty home run potentially. I
think he's gonna hit and he's a great defender. Obviously,
Kansas City has got Salvador Perez. He is thirty five
years old, will be thirty six next season. Is he
gonna play forever? No, obviously, But Salvador Perez still pretty
good player and maybe not what he was a couple

(06:34):
three years ago. But I think you might see kind
of a Yadier Molino Molina ivan Herrera type of thing happening.
Where Herrera was the for years was you know, the
air apparent behind behind the plate, and it just took
a while for Molina to finally retire. Now, Ivan Herrera

(06:57):
started to step up little injuries this season, but you know,
these young guys need to get an opportunity and Carter Jensen,
I think is a really good play. Blake Mitchell also
in that system. I don't know if he stays behind
the plate. He's had a tough season. But Carter Jensen
is not okay in Double A, really good in Triple A.
I like the player a lot. Might be a new

(07:20):
name for most of you. With Junior Perez, I didn't
know a ton about Junior Prez. I'd seen his name
a lot over the last six weeks or so, but
he what he did in August was crazy. Six doubles,
ten home run, seven stolen bases, twenty four strikeouts, eighteen walks.

(07:40):
I would see his name popping up every time he
looked at the box scores. I'm like, this is real?
Is this real? And then finally you know when the
month closes and you see what he has done. It's
been impressive. Now, much like Carter Jensen, everything changed when
he got promoted to Triple A and with Junior Pez.

(08:03):
The Athletics play in Las Vegas, which is where they're
obviously going to play when their major league team is built,
which I think is really smart. They used to play
in Sacramento, the major league team moves to Sacramento. They
moved the minor league team to Las Vegas, and everybody
in baseball said yay, because no team wants to play

(08:23):
in Las Vegas. It might be the most extreme hitters
park and any ball field of any level. I've been
there multiple times. First of all, it is hot as hell,
and yeah, the ball travels far in the air, but
I've never seen balls get through the infield like they
do in Las Vegas. It looks like it's made a concrete.

(08:44):
I mean, it is remarkable. So he has really played
well since he got the promotion to Vegas. Is he
a you know, fifty home run guy or whatever he's
showing with his you know, if you break it up
with the whole season. No, but I think he is
a really good I think he's an interesting guy with
a chance to be somebody's tools. He plus runner, He

(09:07):
walks a lot, hits the ball hard enough. I think
he can look at fifteen home run pop there. So
Junior Perez, you know, if you still can pick up prospects,
he's getting close. It is starting to the The Athletics
are starting to get full though around you know, with
their major league roster. They've had so many promotions. A

(09:29):
lot of them haven't made it, but obviously some has.
Though I heard that Mick Kurtz might have heard himself
last night, so which would be Friday night. But in
my junior press new name for many of you have
been on my raider for a while. It was originally
signed by the Padres. I think this was fun, and
he was traded for Jorge Matteo back in two thousand,

(09:53):
two thousand to oh to the Athletics in twenty twenty.
I were at two thou meant to say twenty twenty
for Hoe Matteo. I didn't know hone Matteo was played
for the Padres. He played only briefly. Obviously we know
him from the Athletics and then in Baltimore, but I
guess he played for a pre period of time in

(10:15):
San Diego, which I found it'd be pretty interesting. So
that is Junior Perez. Our next name is Aiden Miller
mentioned him earlier. Aiden Miller is one of the best
prospects of the game. But it kind of had like
a middling year, I think that's the best way to
say it until August hit and then he turned it
on three forty eight batting average thirteen doubles, four home runs,

(10:37):
thirteen stolen basis. That's more like it. Speed and power,
eighteen strikeouts, thirteen walks. I think there's going to be
a lot of power potential here in the future. He
needs improve his contact rate again a little bit better
here in August. Hopefully he's starting to figure some things out.
The Phillies really pushed their guys, particularly positional players. Remember

(10:59):
Aiden Miller is only drafted in twenty twenty three as
a high school kid, and he's already sitting in a
Double A with the It's spent the whole season there,
so he could see, you know, I've got his his
ETA at twenty twenty six, twenty seven. I would bet
it's going to be twenty twenty six. Now where does
he play again, we just talked about with Crawford. I

(11:23):
mean it's even the path is even harder with Miller
because shortstop. He's not gonna play shortstop now he has
played a little bit of third base, just starting to
see that. There was concerns about whether he'd be able
to stick at shortstop. Defensively, I think he's answered those
questions because he's a decent shortstop there, but they're not
going to push Tray Turner out for Aden Miller, So

(11:43):
that would leave third base. And the last night, look,
wasn't it Boem still at third base? Who's had a
decent season, a good player. Would they move on from Bom?
I don't. I don't think he's all that old yet,
so he's probably still a lot of team control there.
Let me seeze about my Phillies knowledge here. Let's see, Yeah,

(12:03):
third base is Alec Baum. Yeah, so Brandon marsh is
in left field. Who's in centerfield? Harrison Batter? Oh, that's right,
they brought in Harrison Bater is a really good defender.
So I don't know how many more. Thinking back to
Justin Crawford, I don't know how many more years he
has signed for. He can't be for very many. So
you could see and they might line that up for

(12:25):
Justin Crawford, maybe do a one year deal with somebody
and bring up Crawford kind of sometime next season to
start to transition that role. But what do they do
about second base? Obviously he has already taken as well
with Bryson Stotts, so there's really no room except for
third base. And how's not like bom season Ben. He's

(12:45):
twenty nine years old, nine home runs, two eighty three,
batting average a three twenty nine, one base percent. She's
never walked, he's always been really aggressive. One point four
wins above replacement. I mean he's he's a barely above well,
he might even be just a replacement level player. So

(13:07):
he is looking at his contract here. He's still arbitration eligible,
so he's got service time of four years. So he's
free agent eligible in twenty twenty seven. So so next
next season will be his last year under team control,
so that actually might work. So you could also see

(13:27):
kind of an aiden Miller coming in at some point
next season then in taking over in twenty twenty seven,
So that might work for both Justin Crawford and aid Mills.
So I'm kind of glad I did that research for
you guys. Next player is Jacob Rimer with the New
York Metropolitans for a Patrion members. You're going to get

(13:49):
again maybe I mentioned this at the top of the broadcast.
You're going to get right up of Jonah Toong's outing
and Peyton Toley's outing from last night. Both great out
and let's just see what Baseball Savant says. It says
it liked it basically, but kind of go through a
little bit more detail on that. But the Mets, look

(14:10):
the Mets. I know, they get criticize a lot just
because they're in New York. Granted, I was tired of
hearing about Johonah Thong. I mean we've been hearing about
him all season long. Yes, he's going to be the
pitcher of the year in the minor leagues. Yes, Connor
Griffin is going to be the player of the year
in the minor leagues. And yes, when you get see

(14:31):
my top one hundred or top five hundred, he is
going to be at the top of the list. I'm
going to officially make that change. I mean now that
he's starting to show it in double lace a little
bit more strikeouts than you like. But I was kind
of expecting that anyway. I don't know what this kid's
got to do come I don't even know where I had
him ranked at the beginning of the season. The seventies probably,

(14:51):
and then it was the twenties, it was the fifteen,
and now it's just the top of the queue. But
the Mets get a lot of critics is it probably
just because they're the Mets and it's from New York.
But they've got they've got some really great things going on.
We've seen Nolan McClain now it's like three or four
starts at the major league level just shoving it. Saw

(15:12):
Jonah Thong on Friday. So the pitching has come up
and really shoved it. And then these young kids, uh,
you know, Jet Williams, Jacob Reimer. It just goes on
and another all of a sudden, I'm blanking on some
of these guys. There's two other guys that are there, oh,
Carson Binge and then the power guy came from Houston,

(15:35):
that dude. Those are all kids that are very close
to challenging for a role for the Mets. Now does
Reamer does he have a shot to make it? He's
probably the one I'm most concerned about, just because he's
a little bit further away, and I mean, at some point,
these guys are not going to be able to find jobs.

(15:56):
He's going to be at third base. It's a very
good player. He is starting to figure some things out
and which is always good to see and demonstrating really
good back to ball skills. He's got some power, modest speed.
I think he's a really good player. I'm as a
corner outfielder. Maybe with some improvements we could se him
as a top fifteen third basement in the game. Brad

(16:17):
Montgomery number one prospect in the White Sox organization. He's
an outfielder. He's in Double A. Started the season off
in low way, was traded for Garrett Crochet. Was the
lead guy that grek Garrett Crochet deal. And again, you
gotta love what the Red Sox are doing. I mean
Roman Anthony, I think Marcella Mayor when he gets back.

(16:37):
Don't forget about Christian Campbell. This young players all over
the place from a positional standpoint, and we've been waiting
for some top of the rotation guy to come up
from their minor leagues. And I was hoping to be
your dandy Manegro, But he's having Toma John surgery went
out a couple of months ago, so he's going to
be gone for a while. Luis Perals should be I

(17:00):
don't know if he's going to pitch any games this season.
Might see him in the Fall League. He's coming off
with Tommy John Surgey. He's got top of the rotation stuff.
But then LS Peyton totally kind of comes out of
nowhere and it's like he emerged. Him together with Brayon
Bellow and Garat Crushane. You gotta like the fortune for

(17:20):
the Red Sox going forward, and plus the mean the
Red Sox have money to spend. It's the right setup
and Bradon Montgomery, so they were able to move Brad
Montgomery to the White Sox. And he's not had the
best of season. It was good to see him of
a really good month twelve doubles, two stolen bases, a
home run, batting three h seven. I think there's more

(17:43):
in the tank from a power standpoint. He broke his
ankle this time well, probably fifteen months ago at the
end of his college season, so there was some concern
about his speed. He's probably never going to be a
thirty stolen base guy anymore just because of his ankle issues.
But I mean he should be a fifteen to twenty
stolen base guy. And I think with some serious pop

(18:05):
going on as well, and that is Brad Montgomery no
longer with the Red Sox but with the Chicago White Sox.
Walker Jenkins. Walker Jenkins has spent most of his first
two years in professional ball on the injured list. Not so,
at least over the last six to eight weeks. He's
finally playing and playing really well. Just recently got promoted

(18:28):
triple A. So this is three thirty seven banning average,
six doubles, five from runs, four stolen bases, nineteen strikeouts,
and fourteen walks cover the month of August. Actually, that's
I should have said this at the beginning. I did
the list the twenty ninth through the twenty ninth because
I the I did the cut yesterday and I did
those thirty days. I mean, I just hatch you because

(18:49):
I'm not going to be here to put it together.
Well I guess I could, but I can't do everything
on Monday and still make my flight. So but anyway,
so just a big month and if he can stay healthy,
I think this is a This is a dude. This
is a guy that could be a second round pick.
Maybe even more than that. I think I've got him

(19:09):
in my top five, in my top five hundred now somewhere,
and it's definitely top ten. I'm going from memory here, Budd.
He's athletics, a great lefty swing. He's going to hit
for power. There's going to be speed early in the career,
in his career, and I think he's going to hit.
You know, if you tell me in eight eight years
when he's twenty eight years old, I think he's twenty
years old. He's a thirty five home run guy that

(19:32):
hits two seventy five with a three point fifty on
base percentage sealing five to ten bases. I think that's
who that guy can become as he matures and fills out,
really good player. A lot of famous guys here. Only
a non famous guy was Junior Perez. Everybody else so
far has been a who's who. And the next guy

(19:54):
is Ryan Waltschmidt, who's had a really good season as well,
outfit over the Arizona Diamondbacks in double A three sixty
two batting average for the month, six double six arm runs,
eleven stolen bases, thirteen strikeouts at nineteen walks. So it's
I mean he's for the season sixteen home runs, twenty
three stolen bases, and as many walks as strikeouts and

(20:15):
ninety one strikeouts eighty seven walks. It's just about one
for one. I'm as a top top forty five outfielders.
He's a number three out for me. He's a high
floor guy. I think there's fifteen to fifteen type of
floor there. But he's we're seeing. I mean, he's got
an outside shot. Probably won't make it with two weeks
to go, but he could finish the season with eighteen

(20:36):
home runs and twenty five stolen bases. And that's very,
very close to a twenty twenty guy. I think is
a really under talked about prospect. Jirell Perez, another White
Sox kid, former Dodgers farm hand, really good, really good
season over twenty home runs, really tore it up in

(20:58):
twenty twenty three in the E didn't play all that
well last season, but it's tough going for the in
the White Sox in high it's a tough environment in
which they play in. But he's done well and a
really good week this, really good month this month. And
a lot of people gave up on Jurell Perez last season.

(21:20):
I did a little bit. I thought he was a
little overhyped a lot of times. I think a lot
of this is coming from the new regime at Baseball America.
They've really hired a lot of new people and they're
very enthusiastic about prospects. I think they have a tendency
to over evaluate guys, particularly early on. So I know
a lot of people read that it's great stuff, but
sometimes they go hog while over player. And also I

(21:44):
get a lot of the what about this, what about this?
What about Durell Perez? I'm hearing great things about it
and uh, and then things kind of come back to
the surface, which is what happened to Perez last season.
Now he's settling into a pretty good baseball player. Anyway,
That's my thoughts on present. Another famous kind of as
Jesus Moday up in High A what them on? Three

(22:09):
sixty four batting average, seven doubles, three triples, two home runs,
two stolen bases, seventeen strikeouts and eight walks. He and
Louis Penier, my two guys, have been talking about him
for two years in the DSL skip both skipping over
the Complex League. They're kind of hand in hand up
the chain paint has been performed better, but Moday was

(22:30):
the guy that you just knew at some point was
all going to click. And I'm not even sure at
all clicked. It's always clicked, it's just now showing up
on the stat line. All of a sudden, he gets
the high eight and literally is exploding rep before our eyes.
And I write in my note to my Patreon members
or Patreon members, he might be one of those players

(22:53):
ten years from now that we look back and recognize
that this is a Hall of fame type of player.
I think with his natural ability to hit, his pitch
recognition skills, the massive power he has, he's gonna be.
He's very athletic. I don't know if he stays at
shortstop long term, really doesn't matter. This guy's this guy's

(23:13):
a player. He's gonna be really really good. Louis Payne
has actually had a really good start here in high
a becept he's his bab. It's like two twenty the
last I look, so he's hardly hitting anything. It made
me hit below them a doze line, which is crazy
because that guy can hit, but showing some power. He's fast,
so he's going to be just fine. So it's funny.

(23:35):
He had the better stats in low way and now
they've kind of they've kind of flipped. But my day
is a talent, I mean, and I don't go around
saying guy has a chance to be a Hall of
Fame type of player very often. But it feels and
smells like, you know, just like a forty twenty guy,

(23:56):
a forty thirty guy early in his career. Who can hit.
I mean, I don't want to say Ronald d'acunya because
ronaldalccunya is a unicorn. I don't know if he's gonna
have that level of speed that Rot with Acuna hit
stole like sixty five bases one season. I don't think
he's ever going to do that. He might have more
power than Ronald Kacunya. It's just going to be a dude,

(24:17):
It's all I'm going to say. If if you got him, congratulations.
If you have him and somebody's trying to trade for him,
you need. That's one guy I would not trade. Who
would I rather have? Jose Maday or Connor Griffin. It's
a really good point. I mean, I think Miday is
seventh on my list. I guess I would say Connor

(24:38):
Griffin just but the only reason I have Conor Griffin
hiye is maybe because he's done it at a higher level.
But like pound for pound, who's going to be the
better player? I think Maday is going to be the
better hitter, so I would probably like risk adjusted with
Maday being a little bit more risky, just because he's

(24:59):
a little bit further away from the show. Still, i'd
rather have him a day. I think he's the better talent,
and that's saying a lot because Connor Griffin's number one
prospect in baseball. Here's the goofiest line I've seen it
for a month in a long time. Kendall George outfit
over the Los Angeles Dodgers three to five, batting average,

(25:20):
a double, two triples, which is great, no home runs,
twenty nine stolen bases, but he got caught twelve times.
So this is a guy that obviously eighty great speed,
We've known that for a while. Absolutely no power he is.
He's got eighty six stolen bases. The guy in second

(25:42):
place in the minor leagues is Asbel Gonzalez, who was
leading the minor leagues and stolen bases up until August
when Kendall George just decided to run wild. It clearly
he ran will because he got caught twelve times, and
I think he's nine ahead of as asbel Gonzalez, and

(26:03):
they're in high as one more week, So I think,
you know, one more week and whatever they're going to
do this week, and I think George is going to
be the minor league stolen base champion here. That's probably
what the Dodgers wanted. Just gave him the green light
to run. Look huge fourth outfield or risk here thirty

(26:24):
great power, Kenny developed more pop, there's a chance. I mean,
he's not a tiny kid. He's got makes great contact
walking them as as much as he's striking out. He's
an interesting guy. And you know, see I you know,
I want to say that Chandler Simpson's probably the unicorn
because he truly has twenty great power. There is no power.

(26:47):
Somebody asked me to look at him on one of
our Patreon members. His launch angle is. I think it's
like one degree or something crazy like that, or maybe
point two degrees. I mean everything answers on the ground.
I mean it's crazy, and I just don't think we're
going to see a guy like Chandler Simpson who has

(27:10):
absolutely no power to come along. Very often they some
guys with a little bit of loft, get a little
bit of lucky, you have a little bit of strength.
Kendall Georgia. Think is that guy? So I think he can.
He can become a more complete player. It's not showing
that now, but he is a really good hitter as well.
King Kepley outfit of the Chicago Cubs. He is our

(27:32):
first twenty twenty five draftee to make hot prospects of
the week or the month, though somebody else did we
Awa Aloy make a hot prospect of the week. I
know I've written about him a couple of times in
our Daily Notes, but King Kepley, second round draft pick
for the pick number of fifty six for the Cubs,

(27:53):
has just gotten off to an incredible start. Three fifty
six batting average, a double, three triples, two harmons, fourteenth
star basis. It's got seventy great speed, is minimal power.
He's already got two home runs. It's doing in the
low way Myrtle Beach, which kind of a hard place
to play offensively. I didn't dig into find out where
the two home runs were hit, but good on King

(28:14):
Keppley off to a really strong start. Two more guys here,
don't forget to put the right up in Alfredo Dune
John Gill, shortstop with the Atlanta Braves and Low Way.
I've been writing about John gil Gil. It's actually like
Louise Gil. So it's Gil Here's my biggest mover in

(28:35):
the Brave system. I've finished up by the Way, so
everybody knows I do top twenties for all systems. I've
done the first cut of the centrals in the East.
I didn't get to the Toronto Blue Jays, so everybody
in the East besides the Toronto Blue Jays, and I
just have the West to do. So I'll do that
within the two one to two weeks when I get back,

(28:57):
so everything should be done by mid September and then
it's just some fine tuning before I start publishing that.
Believe it or not. I mean it's all set up
the October third or fourth, the first one goes out,
the Chicago Cops go out, So we're talking a month
in the top twenties by team start to drop, which
is insane. I just think that's insane. Anyway, John Gil

(29:21):
it's had a really nice season. It's really popped up
out of nowhere twenty twenty three, signing for one hundred
and ten thousand dollars. Really good defender, making great contact.
He's walking just about as much as he's striking out
the season. A little bit of speed, a little bit
of power. I've got him as a middle infielder with
some upside, Afraido Dunee catcher with the Cincinnati Reds. It's

(29:43):
great to see kind of one of these high end
international guys, which is what he signed for. Was it
last season? I believe already starting the show, might have
been a twenty twenty three, already starting to show some
of that translation in low eg And that's what we're
seeing with Dunay. Eighty percent strikeout rate, an eighteen percent
walk rate, already has fifteen home runs. This guy's a player,

(30:08):
and that is Alfredo Duno, dun O. It's probably Duno,
all right, So let's see how many more already thirty
minutes into it. Let's let's get to the pictures. Here,
a few less pictures. First guy is and again this
list could have been forty. It's only twenty long. Robbie Snelling,

(30:30):
I've gting a picture of the Miami Marlins in Triple
A thirteen. It's pitched twenty hits and ninety seventy or
a thirty eight strikeouts and nine walks for those of
you have been following me for a while. Robbie Snelling
was one of my guys when he was in San Diego.
I thought we would see him last season up in
the big leagues, and he just hit a pothole. I mean,
he just did not pitch well at all. And he's

(30:51):
pitched much better this season. We've seen the velocity come back,
the secondaries have gotten better. He's throwing more strikes. So
the Marlins basic figured out what his problems were and
they've addressed it. Does he see a starter or two
at the end of the season. I have to believe
with Santi al Contra at one hundred and forty one

(31:12):
innings the last I looked, he's got what one to
two more starts left three Max. Maybe they bring up
Snelling for a starter two here at the end of
the season, and I think there's a chance we see
him next season. Commony Early lefting a pitcher of the
Boston Red Sox. This is not Peyton totally. This is
another really interesting guy. So maybe junior President Conley Early

(31:36):
are the two guys that people have not heard of
in this list, And maybe some people haven't heard of
Kane Kepley and afraid of Conley and John gil so
some of Once we got down to the lower part
of the list, we started to get to some more
kind of less known kind of names. But Commley early,

(31:56):
I think a number four starter's got I call it
an unconventional arsenal because he doesn't have a great Fastbay
has really good secondary pitches, and so it's a good arsenal,
but he doesn't have the big fastball. But guys that
don't have the big fastball that are left he's can
can still be really effective big leaguers, and I think

(32:17):
kind of the early might be that. Again, it got
him as a number four starter with some upside. Go
check him out if he's still kind of floating around
in your waiver wire, because he's not as well rostered
as some of these other guys we've gone over. Harlan
Cecina probably the best month pitching of anybody on this list,

(32:42):
just absolutely shoving you to one eighty three ear a,
thirty eight strikeouts and nine walks. Started this season on
the il really struggled with some health issues. So there's
I mean throws one hundred and two miles an hour,
so you know there's going to be some elbow problems,
but man, when he's on there's some There's a lot
of guys, so that's still a problem. But it feels

(33:04):
a lot like Jacob Misrowski. And we've seen what Jacob
Mizerowski has done when he got promoted to the Big Leads.
It's a huge arm. I had Closer, a top forty
starting pitcher. Now I've reversed top forty starting pitcher of
Closer because he has improved his walk rate a little bit,
and double A is getting closer. People I've talked to

(33:24):
in the Nationals organization feel confident that he can start.
I'm not sure. It doesn't always repeat his delivery, but
it's I mean, look it doesn't matter. I mean a
guy throws one hundred two miles an hour, yes, he's
going to get hurt. Just if you if you have
rostered to side a trade for him, or you go
pick him up off the waveoard, just know he's going
to get hurt. Anybody throws one hundred two miles an hour,

(33:45):
they're going to get hurt. But it is a that's
a talented dude, all right, that's going down. Thomas White,
another famous guy lefting a pitcher of your Marlins. Twenty
is pitch of one thirty three ear a thirty two
strike out, some ten walks. His control is not quite there,
but everything else just points to the top of the rotation.

(34:07):
Army six foot five. He doesn't turn twenty one until
thin gets September twenty sixth at the end of next month.
Given another year or two, and to me, he looks
like an ace in the making, just big stuff. I
think over time, particularly what we just have seen with
with Robbie Snelling, the Marlins are good at this. They

(34:27):
know how to get the best out of their players,
and I think I think we'll see that with Thomas White.
I think you'll see improve control as we get as
he gets deeper into the into the season, excuse me
to his career. Next guy is Brody Hopkins. He was
part of a trade. Did I write down here? He
was the Mariner So Mariners originally draft in the sixth round.

(34:52):
He's been a guy that throws really hard. Doesn't have
a great pitch to throw against glove side batter, but
it's so he needs a better change up or maybe
getting the two seamer in there so it'll go away
from a left handed batter. So that's why I think
I've got closer for him, or top fifty starting pitchers
opposed to the scene I switched it. They're both in

(35:13):
double A. Still have I still lean towards Brodie Hopkins
being a closer as opposed to a starter. But it's
a big arm. He's had a great season. He had
a great season last year as well, and the Raids
are going to take it easy with him. I've got
his ETA twenty twenty six, twenty seven, but he could
spend all of or most if not all of twenty

(35:36):
twenty six and TRIPAA. It's just how It's just how
the Tampa Bay Rays roll. Last guy is Luis de Leon.
That is writing a picture of the Baltimore Orioles in
high A. It's a great arm. He's always had trouble
throwing strikes. He had a great month though August where
he threw a lot more strikes, so seven walks on

(35:58):
twenty and two thirds innings. I did the math where
it's about three per nine, which is right on league average.
So if he can do that, I mean, if you
can do that, he pitch the top of the rotation.
If he can, he's probably a reliever, a huge ground
ball guy, so he's a sinker slider guy, but his

(36:19):
release point is you know, the release point floats all
over the place and that's been his biggest problem. But
it's still still a talented guy and a guy that
should be considered for drafting and rostering in deeper dynasty leagues.
That is our list. That is our top twenty prospects
of the month of August. I would probably do a

(36:40):
I won't do a Top Prospects of the month of September,
but I'll probably do a top prospect for the year.
So that'll come That'll come out at the end of September,
and I'll take a look across, you know, a couple
of guys from each different level and just kind of make,
you know, a post about that. And you know, look,

(37:00):
Connor Griffin's going to be the player of the year
and Jonah Tong is going to be the picture of
the year. There's a lot of runner ups. There are
going to be a lot of runner ups, but they're
your two main guys. They just are. They've been great.
I love jose Has Jesus. My day has been great.
Tons of pictures and tons of pictures have been great,

(37:21):
But I mean, I think those guys stand a top
in terms of where they came into the season, in
the kind of movement they've made, and they've just blitz
through all levels and tongs case all the way to
the major leagues, and then Connor Griffin's case all the
way to the number one prospect at least on my rankings.

(37:41):
For our Patriot members, I appreciate all your support for
our people that are just joining us today or listening
in for free content. Love to have you for the
free content, but give us, give our give the Patriots
side a shake, see if that works out for you again.
Lots of content starts in October. You get those top twenties.

(38:03):
Public only gets top tens. So if you're playing a
deeper dynasty league's you get that, you get all the
top five hundred, and you get the whole catalog of
everything that's out there. There's one hundreds of thousands of
words written about prospects over the last two years plus
I go back even further that, So there's this volumes

(38:23):
of information out there that people I know spend time
researching and figuring out what's out there that is it. Tomorrow,
I look forward to the top. Well, this thing will
come out. I think I'm going to put this thing
out like on Wednesday or Thursday. But you get the
top five hundred coming out as well. Until next time, guys,
be well
