Speaker 1 (00:21):
Greeney Societations. Everyone at Church Wilsam welcome Fantasy Baseball Live.
Today is November thirtieth, about three point thirty in the afternoon,
and as always on a Sunday, I'm here with my
good buddy, mister Tim McCloud. Tim. We just finished an
hour podcast on the prospects of the National League East.
We did the Braves and Marlins. That was a ton
(00:42):
of fun. Now we switch over and start to think
about Major League Baseball.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah, I know it was a lot of fun. I
totally agree, Rich, and I just I just had the
highlight of my week occur. Rich, and you will never
guess what happened that I hold in such high esteem.
You made coffee, Yes, but not only did I make coffee.
It was time to open up the new can of coffee. Okay,
(01:13):
and you take and you pull back that metal where
it's all sealed, and the flavor just sort of explodes
out of the can, and oh there is You know.
I I could never be a drug sniffing dog because
I would like to smell a coffee so much. Everything
would get busted. Okay, I thought you.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Used those little little capsules for the.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, I do, But I have my own pods that
I use, and I buy my coffee and I just
put it in the pods. Oh okay, yeah, it's if
you buy the pods, it costs you about twenty five
bucks for about twenty cups of coffee. If you buy
a can of coffee, you can get hundreds of pods
out of a case. It's it's my economical self at
(01:59):
work here.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
I right, So I don't I don't drink coffee, So
I apologize that this is gonna seem stupid. I thought
the pods though, had a lid on them.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, so did the little mini pods do too. It's
on a little hinge and you just pop it open,
You put your coffee in, You close the top of
the lid on the pod, put it in the cure
egg in a way.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
You go, oh, so you've got all right? So are
they just they're not reusable pods plastic pods, yes, but
oh they.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Are, oh you the reusual. Yeah. You just dump dump
the old coffee grains wherever you want to dump them,
and the recyclables whatever. Give it a quick rinse out
and you're good to go for your next one. I've
got about seven or eight of them kicking around just
so I don't have to sprint some constantly. But the
smell of fresh coffee is yeah, I love that smell.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
It's actually I want the smell of coffee. I'm just
not a coffee drinker. I don't particularly like the case.
And again I go back. Everything always sets us up,
tending our childhood and again going fishing with my father
was probably eight or nine, ten years old. Sitting in
the front seat. He said, it's time to be a man.
Poured me a cup of coffee, black coffee, strong as
(03:13):
strong could be. And that was my first taste of
coffee ever, and I haven't liked it since.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
So it left an injuring memory, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
It was pretty rough, man, it was. It was pretty rough,
and I'll never forget. I remember a big silver thermost
that he had and he laughed and I was spitting
it out. But uh yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Could see that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
It was like the first time when I was twelve
thirteen and my mom said, here, try this scotch. Okay,
don't worry.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I wish my dad would have given me scotch, but
now it did not. I got the coffee, but that
was that was that was. That was my introduction of coffee.
And to this day, my Lori keeps telling me how
to get over it, but I just can't.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Well, sometimes teaching an old dog new tricks, it's just
not worth the It's just not worth the aggravation, is it?
Or the head? Yeah you're yeah, you're set, You're you're
happy with what you what you're doing. So yeah, why yeah,
why fix it? Right?
Speaker 1 (04:15):
That's for sure. We had Thanksgiving here this this week.
It was a lot of fun, eight too much. On
Thanksgiving we went out to dinner at Le Vaulty and
they had either your choice of turkey and ham combination
with all the trimmings and fixings were probably what you
would have taken was a prime rib and all of
(04:37):
the fixings. It was. It was great.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, yeah you know me, oh too, well, yeah, there's
no hesitation. Yeah, prime prime rib it would be. Yeah.
Everybody got together. You managed to get all the kids.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
No, no, the kids, the kids, nope, nope, the kids
are all up in New Jersey. Uh they went, so
we switch off. So they were with their my son
and laws. Actually, my daughter cooked dinner for the first,
her first Thanksgiving dinner, so she was a little, a
little worried, but apparently went it went off without a hitch.
(05:12):
So she did that. But we went out to dinner
with a couple of good friends of ours.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Okay, No, I don't know why, but I was thinking
you were back, and you were back in Jersey. I'm
having I'm having trouble with geography these days.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I think Richard having trouble keeping up with me. We
head back to New Jersey on on December eighth, so
a week from Monday, so a couple of days to
get up there, and then we'll be in New Jersey
unfortunately for the winter.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
So yeah, I remember you were saying you were going
to be there for Christmas, so I thought you'd already
already made the move. Okay, there we go.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I've got to a lot of a lot of shows,
so we're We've already toured Little Beyo Center, which is
our little theater in town, about twelve hundred seats, going
to see a bunch of concerts there. I went to
to see a tribute band for the Beatles in Wilmington
this past week, which was great. Sent some pictures.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
I laughed at your comment. I really did. On the stage.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, it's amazing how good these tribute bands are. I mean,
these guys are great. I mean they were really really good.
It was a lot of fun, and you know, look,
you're never gonna ever see the Beatles again, so the
only way you're gonna be able to see it is
do a tribute band, or we won't go see Paul
McCartney if we can find out where he's playing and
go see that. But we had a great time there,
(06:38):
and we're gonna go see going to New York and
go see a Broadway show at the end of end
of January, something called Just in Time, which is a
Bobby Darren review. So, okay, the guy who you probably
you never watched Hamilton, but the guy who played George
King George is the guy that's playing Bobby Darren apparently
(07:02):
does a really really good job there. And Laura's been
wanting to see that. So I got tickets this weekend,
and as soon as soon as I've oft the tickets,
my credit card got compromised. So yeah, and now we're
waiting on a new credit cards will come. You know
what that means. They got to change everything that's automatically
deductive from the credit credit card, which absolutely blows, but
(07:24):
that's what we got.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yees. Yeah, but I guess it's better than the other option.
I had mind compromised once, but the guy didn't want
to pay pay the bills unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Well, you know, that whole thing is a little annoying
because it I mean, the credit card companies are responsible
for everything. I think your response with the first fifty bucks,
but they're it's on them, and people are breaking into
sites and stealing credit cards, and we the consumers, are
the ones that are inconvenience, so they need to figure
this out. To me, I mean, the credit card theft
(07:59):
is we get a credit card stolen once every year
or two, and it's just a pain in the ass.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, it is. It's it's almost as bad as losing
your driver's license and having to prove who you are. Yeah,
they're yeah, they're they're both on at least in Canada. Anyhow,
you know, you've got to produce this document, that document.
You know, almost.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Gears is much simpler here. It's literally they they recognize
with somebody that made a four hundred and eighty seven
dollars charge on Walmart dot com and they blocked it.
They said, we think this is fraudulent. Let us know.
We said, yes, it's fraudulent, and say we'll send you
a new card in two days. That's all you have
to do. Because it's so it's so rampant here. I mean,
(08:43):
it's just everywhere. So they've got these processes, you know that.
But the pain thing is your Amazon accounts connected to it,
your electricity is connected to it. So now we're gonna
have all these Yeah, we're gonna have all these these
payments not going through because they're all to the old
credit card. And that's the thing that's the pain in
(09:03):
the ass.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Well, it takes time to we through and soar through
it all out. And you find out that one day
that you're paying your electrical bill through two different cards
and a direct withdrawal from your pay you eight hundred
dollars they don't want to pay you back, right.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
And you don't find out that your your electric bill
is tied to your credit card until the electricity doesn't
go on one day. Oops.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Guess what, Hey, the switch isn't broken. The switch isn't broken.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Exactly exactly, So tell me a little light because of
Thanksgiving from a baseball standpoint, but uh, we did have
a we did have a trade where the the Rangers
traded Marcus Simeon to the Mets for Brandon Nemo, which
is funny because we just talked about the Mets last week.
We were both talking about Carson Binge and Jet Williams,
(09:56):
and I wrote a thousand words about the deal to
Patreon members. So I won't reiterate what I wrote there,
except again what my uh my page, what my AI
assistant said, which I thought was pretty funny. What did
you think of the deal?
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Uh, the Mets went from muddling up the outfield to
muddling up the infield blocking Jet Williams. I don't worry.
You have mcdeal. He's got to play in the outfield,
I would assume. I from a Rangers point of view,
even though they're they're going to be on the hook
(10:35):
for a fair amount of cash, I sort of like
it from the Texas perspective that I'm still trying to
figure out what the Mets and they're trying to do,
and I think there's gonna have to be more trades
moving forward coming out of New York.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I think so as well. It's funny because I said
I've liked it for the Ranger standpoint. But here's what
my AI assistant said, and I wrote that he's getting
more opinionated in his old age. I'll be blunt. This
looks like a clear win for the Rangers. So he
just came right out and said it. Look, this is
no two ways about it. You know, the yes, Simei
(11:13):
costs a little bit more money, but you got him
on you know, seventy five verses one hundred million dollars,
but it's on the smaller length of contract and Semeon.
I mean if you look at the data, I mean,
the data is not good. The bat speed is down,
the eggs of velocities are down. It's just not the
same player it used to be. And Nemo is a
better player. Sorry, yeah, well the better player.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yeah, yeah, a much better player. And you know Semion's
heading into his age thirty six season, and the how
did I put it with a weaning skill set? Fair enough? Yes, yes, yeah,
I don't get it, but hey, mine is not the
reason why. Mine is just to look at the fact
(11:59):
that I've got Brandon Nemo in a couple of leagues
and like it because I think I think he'll do
fine in Texas.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, that guy hits the ball harder than you think
that the ex velocity's point to that twenty five on
runs being quite real. The thing I found a little
weird is his walks were down last season. I don't
know if that's an anomaly. I don't know what that is.
Do you have a thought on it?
Speaker 2 (12:23):
No, I really don't. I'm not going to. I want
to see what happens this year and hopefully there's a
bounce back of some sort in that walk rate. But
definitely the Rangers are on the hook for a while.
I think Nemo signed through twenty thirty at nineteen and
a quarter mill per year, but he should own the
(12:44):
leadoff spot for the next couple of years in Texas,
and definitely I think the Rangers did well with that signing.
I have a question for you, though, just sort of
tied into it this. We've seen some rumors that Corey
Seeger might possibly moved be moved.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
I didn't hear that.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
He's Wow, He's over one hundred and eighty nine mil
over the next six years, so I'm sure that'll put
a damper on it. But if if the Rangers can
find a way to move Corey Seeger, how close is
Sebastian Wilcott.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Well, he was in Double A. Okay, In fact, that
just wrote him up last week. I got him, I
believe twenty twenty seven as like ETA. So he's getting close.
I mean, you can always you can a bridge, You
can always find a bridge for a year.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, yeah, No, it was just something that crossed my mind.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Or I lied five and fifty two plate appearances in
Double A as a nineteen year old. Let that set
in for everybody for a moment.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yeah, that's so yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I mean, if I go back to my right, I
see I probably had him as twenty twenty six. So yeah,
he could, bet he could. All he needs is a
bridge for half a season. Or do they sign him
to a team friendly deal and he starts the season
up with the Rangers. He's close to him, he's close.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Yeah. No, they offer him a six to seven year
deal and he's still only twenty six at twenty six
years old when it expires.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Okay, Jackson Jurio deal ninety million or or a Roman
Anthony deal ninety millions to pay him through age twenty seven,
twenty eight. He's good to go.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah, Lady fled Vlad Guerrero sort of you know what
I mean, he didn't have that sort of deal, but yeah,
something that ties him over the twenty six to twenty
seven and heading into free agency. Yeah, it just sort
of it sort of makes sense if the Rangers can
move Seeger. But I don't know if they will be
able to with that the big money old on that contract.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I have to just pay off part of the contract.
You know. We saw that with another deal that we'll
talk about, where you know, you just just buy out
the guy. So yep, So let's take a look at
the Mets, shall we. I'm looking at the right up
for Sebastian walk On. I've got him squarely as ETA
twenty twenty six. So okay, it's pretty amazing at twenty
(15:18):
years old, he's going to be up playing in the
major leagues.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah. Well, he's been about two years ahead of schedules
since he started, and that trend doesn't diminished at all,
has it.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Hits the ball really hard and just got exceptional bat speed.
So I mean to is Hee a complete player? Yet?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Is he a great defender at shortstop?
Speaker 2 (15:38):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Of course he here's a better defender. I always saw
Corey Seeger and move off because of his size, but
he's always been able to play there. And Walcott's a
big dude too, so he probably fits better at third base.
But isn't the same thing about Seeger and he's remained
at shortstop. So right, all right, Timmy, let's take a
look at the Mets. This is the thing that really
yeah me, uh so? So now shortstop and h second
(16:05):
base are taken up and they keep the Mets keep
saying that Carson Bingch is going to get a long
look in spring training to make the starting center field role.
I mean, how does this all shake out?
Speaker 2 (16:22):
I don't know, but you know, you got Jeff McNeil
now in left field.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
But isn't he going to start the season on the
I l with he's just getting over t OS and
isn't it to t t O S surgery?
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Yeah, that there's some questions as to whether or not
he'll be ready, in what shape he'll be in. Well,
you know, we'll know more in spring training. I would,
I would. I wouldn't be looking at a full year
from Jeff McNeil in left field. That's my gut feeling.
Tyrone Room Taylor is a fourth oatfielder Okay, So unless
(16:58):
the way I'm looking at this now, unless Jack Williams
is capable of playing in the outfield, there's no spot
for him, is there.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
He's never played in the outfield, but I think he's capable.
But I mean, you got to figure it's going to
be at least some time to learn to play in
the outfield. And I mean again, you keep hearing, they
keep reiterating we're going to give bench an opportunity, which
you know, I think you have to take them at
their word they're going to give him an opportunity. Something
tells you they're going to sign a bunch of old
(17:27):
guys to play in the outfield.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Well, yeah, because you know they could with McNeil and Taylor,
right that penciled in today? They got room for both
benj and Williams, don't they?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I think so?
Speaker 2 (17:44):
So yeah, So who knows how it's going to shake down.
But there's still more questions than there is answers even
with this deal.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, I mean in Alonzo's interesting. I think I had
him resigning with the Mets. I didn't like that pick,
but I don't know where else Alonzo it's got a
chance to play. So and if Alonzo comes back, then
it really gets crowded in that infield.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Well, it not only gets crowded in the infield. Then
you start looking at Ronnie Mauricio, who's pencil in a DH.
Well there's only room for two of Mauricio, Brett Beatty
and Mark Viano's right, So somebody else is going to
get bumped to the sidelines. And like I said, the
(18:28):
move for Semion didn't answer any questions, It just created
questions in a different locale.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Yeah, I keep worrying about I know thet's the Mets
talked about benj and I see Ronnie Mauricio, But this
is a team that loves to sign older guys and
Mark Marcus Simmons a perfect guy that they like to
bring in these older veterans. And I don't know. But
then I take a look at their their lineup and
it's full of rookies for young players.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
So, yes, it is except Lindors. I mean, Juan Soto
is still only twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
A yes, I think you still consider him young. So
Sodo Viento's Alvarez baby, Maurisio and Gallakunya mc nolan McClain,
H yeah, code guess that could I think of the
uh uh, the other kid that the young kid, small
(19:27):
kid that's from the right right side, your friend, Uh
help me, Tim, the right handed.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Uh right handed pitcher. Oh who would that be?
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Jonatan, Yeah, Brandon's brothers.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
So they got a ton of young kids that are
just about ready to roll. And so it is interesting.
So I say they like to sign older players, and
I think they do, but they got they got some
of the best upper level minor league players in all
of baseball ready to contribute.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, and let's hope they start contributing this year and
not next or next next.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
We discussed last week Josh Smith playing second base. No,
I'm sorry the outfield, but now with Brandon Nemo, he
just simply switches into second base. Second base, as you've
been telling us, is not as deep. Does he get
a little bit more juice for you? I know it's
not a great fantasy player, but he looks like he's
going to have a full time job.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Well when you start looking at a full time second
base versus full time oatfield, yeah, he does. I think
he's got to be going up in our planets because
second base is bleak to put the blunt. But yeah,
I would think Josh Smith moves up in the ADPs
(20:48):
with his trade.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, I think I concur with you. So that was
that te fun trade and I think we both like
it for the Rangers there in terms of getting a
little bit younger, a little bit more athletic. Let's be
over to what the Blue Jays said. They signed Dylan
c seven years, two hundred and ten million dollars. By
the most interesting thing here is this is a bar
(21:12):
As client. So yeah, is he trying to get a
little bit more modern to get these guys signed earlier?
Is that possible? Or did he turn down two hundred
and ten million dollars for Dylan seas well?
Speaker 2 (21:27):
I could, I could see the meeting now and more
are saying seven years to ten. We can get you
more than that. Okay, we can do better than that.
We're gonna wait and we're gonna drag this out until
February and you'll get two hundred and then eleven million
and ceases looking at him saying you're on glue. Get
me the paper. I'm signing it yesterday. Done deal.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
That's thirty dollars a year. I mean, that's that's crazy.
That's a lot of scratch.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Well, what's Trek's schoogl? Drek's scoul going to be worth
a year from now? I think it'll pale. I think
it'll pale. Dylan sees the condor will be, you know,
pale in comparison to Eli they've Pitching is in high demand.
I think the Jays did a smart thing. I think, hey,
that they knew they needed a pitcher.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
I think they went out and got him, anticipating the
price to be even higher. Should should they wait? I
don't think the price were to come down at all
on Cease. Teams need pitching. Pitching's hard to find. Dylan
Ceases he's a workhorse and if he and if he
is tutored correctly on a splitter, he could be a
(22:37):
lot better pitcher. Definitely the Jay's. It's it's a solid upgrade,
I believe to an already solid team. The J's are
all in there, they're they're playing for it. Good for them.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
One I think Simon and I talked about at the
podcast that everybody will hear on Tuesday is the notion
that Dylan Cees is going to a team that has well.
Gossman's got arguably a top three splitter in the game,
maybe even the best splitter in the game. Well maybe
Ya Yamamoto would have something to say about that, but
(23:11):
it's very, very good, and he Savage isn't that far behind.
So he's going to a rotation that's got two of
the best splitters in all of baseball. And there's already
talk that Cease wants to learn that splitter. If you
take a look at the data, as good as CS is,
he's never had a pitch to get gloveside batters out.
(23:31):
If he solves that, Timmy, he could take it to
the next level.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Yeah. I like the signing. I think it's I think
it's a good, solid move by the Jas, and I
think their team will be better for it next year.
And you got to remember Gossman's getting getting up there
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Okay, I think he's only got one year left on
his deal. They're gonna need an anchor for the next
five years or so, and hopefully Dylan ce can be
that guy for them.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
So last last nighting we had and this is actually
funny from my standpoint because I wrote the notes and
so I'm going down lines. I'm doing segment two News
and notes I do all that, and all I have
is two notes there, and I'll have the Orioles signing
Ryan Helsley. And then I started copied in we didn't
do the Washington Nationals last week, so I copied in
(24:26):
their fantasy questions. So then I started working through the
Baltimore Orioles and I went to roster resource and I'm
looking through the positional bats and I'm saying, well, that's Sambasaiah.
Let's talk about him. Oh, Gunner Henderson, let me come
up with a question about So now I go down
to the pitching and I'm saying, well, I wonder who's
going to be the closer, And all of a sudden,
I see Ryan Helsley there. I'm going Ryan Helsley, like
(24:49):
what you know? Like literally like what I couldn't And
then I went out and just did a Google search.
Who does Ryan Helsey played for? It is a eleven
minutes ago. Ryan Helsley signs what they were.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Wow, yeah, you stoos. You lose in this game, don't you.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
So he signs two years of twenty eight million dollars.
I mean the Orioles spent money.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Tom, Yeah, definitely, It's exactly where they needed to.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Yeah, I like the bulletmen. I like the signing. I
mean it's hard not to.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Yeah, I I I like the signing as well. I
think they needed Hey as much as I I liked
that bullpen. Uh with Kittridge and Aiken. Uh, they got
themselves a nightning guy, which they they needed because, uh,
(25:48):
the incumbent is not going to be back next year
and who knows what the what the future is gonna
gonna gonna hold in store. As far as Felix, that's too.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Bad, yeap Batista. He might not pitch again with the Orioles,
so they had to do something. And hopefully this for
oriol fans, this is a good sign that maybe they're
going to start to loosen a little bit of the
perse springs, the purse springs. We know ownership's got the
money and they don't have anybody signed. I mean, they've
(26:23):
got one of the lowest payrolls entering twenty twenty six,
so they've got money to spend. Are they going to
spend it? Time will tell.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
This is a good sign, though, I agree, yes, and Hey,
I Hey, and again you're taking you're taking a potentially
elite closer off the board early. I think it's a
I think it's a smart move. You don't want to
leave guys that have solid bullpen potential the closer. You
(26:53):
don't want to leave them sitting too long. Somebody will
snatch them up because there are bullpens that need those arms.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Today, the Winter meetings start, hopefully also a good sign
that maybe we'll see some signings here in a week.
That would be fun too, Yes, it would. Baseball needs
that tim I mean it's Baseball needs a time where
there's lots of guys getting signed and people love to
hear when guys make big money because it's fun to
(27:21):
talk about whether they're worth it or not worth it.
And I can't believe that they fill in the blanks
finally signed somebody or did the Dodgers just spend that
kind of talk? I think is all good and it's
just been not existent in baseball for the last three
to five years, and I think baseball has not been
good because of that.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Well, definitely, it generates interest in the off season. Yeah,
and without that interest it gets Alvl mooring. Hey, you
know there's going to be there's what four or five
five players posted in two free agentes at least seven
eight players out of Asia. They're going to be signing
(28:02):
in December. They have to because they got the forty
five day rule right, So we'll have those signings coming up.
But it'd be nice to see some movement on the
North American players as well, and maybe it'll fill in December,
making it a very interesting month.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Let's hope, Timmy, I mean baseball really needs this. I
mean they need to knock football off the front pages
at least for half a day or something, just to
have something exciting happen. I mean, let's take a break,
get back and let's talk Washington national shall we.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yes, we shall.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
But my favorite thing to talk about is fantasy questions
of these teams that we've been going through. We do
it every every fall lash winter, and we're just about
on the Nation League. So we're halfway done and let's
finish up with the Washington Nationals. Tim. I'm going to
read you the questions as I have written them. James
would hit thirty one home runs last season, but only
(29:10):
seven in the second half. He's a ninth outfitter off
the board. Is that something that appeals to you.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Yeah, he doesn't turn twenty four, I think until next September,
and it's a game of adjustments, and I believe he'll
make those adjustments, you know, and we won't see another
seven home run half moving forward. I think if you're
looking at outfield right now, he is going.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Oh yeah, twenty eight sixty eight yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
With When I look at the players around him, yeah,
I am interested. I think it's a fair place to
place him in the pecking order.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Outfield is very stre change everyone. So you've got Judge
so to Corbyn, Carroll, Ronald Acuna, Julio Orrigez, Fernando Tatis
all going in the first round. A couple a couple
of picks later, we've got Tucker and Jackson Cheerio at eighteen.
Then you wait ten slots for Woods and Pete Crow Armstrong,
and then number eleven goes off the board at fifty
(30:21):
one with Wyatt Langford.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
So if you do one of the threep, yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
If you don't get one of the big guys up
to Fernando Tatis junior, you can decide whether you don't
like those guys. Then it's your first outfielder is going
to be Tucker, Cheerio, Wood or Armstrong. You know, I
already know PCA has got some serious question marks. So
I think it's a lot of would a lot of
appeal there.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
I agree totally. Yeah. I one of my goals is
going to be getting one of the top seven eight
oatfielders rostered and then moving down into the you know,
fifth round, and then attacking outfield again a little bit later.
I want to I want to try and avoid PA. Yeah.
(31:09):
I get the charms for Brent Rooker as far as
pure power is concerned. Uh, but you know, there's a
lot of question marks. Can Jackson Merrill bounce back? Do
I want Duran Duran as my number one outfielder. Like
I said, there's just yeah, there's a lot of question marks.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Why att Langford's very appealing at fifty one? That could
be very interesting. Yeah, Roman answer could be an absolute stud.
But I mean what he hit eight arm runs last season.
I mean, and so yeah, you're betting on the com.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
There, Yes, you most certainly are. And you get into
players a little bit for the like George Springer, Yeah,
is he going to hit thirty plus homers? He's getting
into his mid to late thirties, and you know, I
think with that comes some concern. Jose L tuove. You
might want him a second base and bet in the
outfield anyways, and he uh page, he didn't show up
(32:01):
the last month of the season. There's just a lot
of Do I Wantton Lewis Roberts You've already said, I said, no, Yeah, yeah,
exactly noel Vie Marte and Chandler Simpson and hey, one
guy for power up here, Joe Adele at thirty three.
I'll take him. I'll take him as a second third hofielder.
(32:23):
I think, yeah, I assume I.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Feel better about Joe Adele hitting thirty home runs than
I do about George Springer staying healthy enough to be
eighty percent of what he was last season. We've seen
this so much with guys like George Springer, a wonderful player,
going to be Hall of Fame consideration. I don't know
if we'll make it up, but a great career. But
(32:47):
we see these kind of players get older and they
have this pop up where it's like they look like
their old self briefly, and then they just fall off
the following year. That's what I'm worried about with Springer.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Likewise, Juty, all right, this.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
One, this one hurts. I know it hurts. I believe
it hurts you as well. So I when I just
wrote Dylan Cruz, I just put a big sigh next
to it. Give me his stack lines and I'm gonna.
I got my shoulders clenched a little bit, hoping that
it's something good. But at bats, home run, stolen bases
and batting.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Average, uh, five hundred and seventy five at bats, that's good. Yes,
it's real good. Twenty three home runs, wow, thirty stolen bases,
holy moly, and a two forty five batty.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
Oh that's not so good. But I'm gonna take the
I'll take a twenty three thirty Holy moly. So if
he is going.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
And the words of the Great Meat look bad, two.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Out of three ain't bad. Yeah, he's going as the
fortieth outfielder. Let me give you some guys. Would you
rather have Dylan Cruz at forty? And again, Tim and
I I will admit that we love Dylan Cruz, but
so so Dylan Cruz at forty or Stephen Kwan at
thirty nine, Cruise Cruz at forty or Taylor Ward at
(34:09):
thirty eight, Cruise Cruse at forty or Brenton Doyle at
thirty seven. Oh uh, cruise Nemo at thirty six.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
I'd probably go on the safe side with Nemo.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Sadan Raffaella Cruise. I know you're gonna take Ja. You're
gonna take Jacob Jacob Marcy over over Otani. So I'm
not even gonna give you that one. So then the
rest is like Joe Adell, I mean it's gonna depend
on power. You're gonna say that Chandler said, And you're
gonna take Dylan Cruz over Chandler, I write him thinks, so.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah, you got you got the drill down. Pat how
going to take him over? Noel Vi Martevi because of
the concerns about playing time potentially, Yeah, I did so
cruise right now. I see on the current, I see
him as being a little bit of a bargain. I
think there's just too much talent there for him to
be stuck in. I'll call it purgatory, Okay, that that
(35:10):
fifteen fifteen or twelve to fifteen twenty five thirty stolen base.
I just think we're going to see better than that, Richard.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Let's take a look at what the data says, shall
we Dylan Crewe not Diller clues Dylan Dylan Cruz, see
you all right? Ex velocity eighty nine point seven not great,
(35:39):
not horrible, maxx Velosi at one to eleven terrible, launching
at eight point five. He needs to get the ball
up in the air a little bit more. The twenty
three point six percent strikeout rate is weird. That guy
makes better contact than that, So I'm gonna say he's
going to hit better with close to ninety mile an
hour eggs of VELOSSI that feels like low twenties home run.
(36:02):
Let's hope he gets a little bit more launch angle
on it to make that a little bit more secure.
But he hits the ball hard enough, he should be
able to drive a better babbit with a better batting
average than he did last season. With an expected batting
average of two thirty eight and a sprints beeds at
ninety percentile. So yeah, I mean, I kind of agree
with it. I think there's definitely thirty stolen basis feels
(36:24):
it's in the can eighteen to twenty two home runs
the two forty batting average. I'm hoping there's a upside there,
but if it's not, I would accept that. I agree.
I think there's definitely upside there. That's what the data says.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Well, and a lot of the oatfielders in that range
there is no upside. So are you going to bet
on the upside or are you going to bet on
the safe floor? And depending on where your upside is, Like,
what's the upside again? I'm not dissing Stephen Kwan. He's
a fine player, but he is what he is. Right,
he should hit the same numbers year after year. Well,
(36:59):
if you're happy with that as a number two outfielder,
that's great. But I would want to look at upside
potential as being part of the equation. And I see
a lot more upside potential in Dylan Cruz and.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
They do ste I agree with it, But sometimes you're
forced to take Stephen Kwan because maybe he went risky
with a couple of picks before that, And you're like, Okay,
maybe I've got some really high upside guys that have
took ahead of Steve Stephen Kwan, and now it's time
to at least lock in eighteen stolen bases and a
guy that can hit.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, if you've got two PCAs ahead of him already
on your team, yeah, then it's time to mitigate a bit, right.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
I think that's fair because PCA is more than likely
going to give you some pressure on the batting average.
So right, okay, let's move on to Brady House in
the minor leagues. I've kind of always liked him. I
have him in the Dynasty League. Seventy four games, he
walked eight times. Is this a growth stock or someone
who will start the season in the minor leagues? What
(38:01):
say you?
Speaker 2 (38:03):
I think the drove to third base continues. I would
be looking at Jose ten and draft and hold Lakes
as late as a late pick. Since Ryan Zimmerman and
Anthony Rendon, what have we seen at third base in Washington?
Speaker 1 (38:19):
That's a good question. Zimmerman was there for a long
time though, but.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Uh in Rendon he had a solid.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yeah, you're right, not a lot.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Yeah. So like I said, I, hey give me Jose
Tanian in the in the fortieth forty fourth round or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Yeah, I think he got the raw deal.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
But h that's interesting to be more than paying for
Brady Host, especially with the walk.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
We're not going to pay much for him. And it's
four ninety five eighty ps, so he's gone as a
forty six third basis, and he's really not even He's
not even being roster basically, is the just a bet.
I kind of like the bet, though, I be honest
with you.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Yeah, I get I get the charms, but I'm I'm
still gonna stay away.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Uh I'm even in the drafts the whole league with
four nine, five divided by fifteen. That's the thirty fourth round.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
I'll go ten rounds later and gamble on tenure.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Okay, not selling ten is not buying.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Now, I'm not buying that one.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Telling Lyle should Flashes last season posted a two ninety
nine batting average with nine home runs and eight stolen
bases and three hundred and fifty one played appearances. So
let's add another two hundred on there. So that's fifteen,
fifteen to fifteen type of player. Uh NFC thinks he's
a growth stock at fifteeh outfit are off the board
too much, too little? What do you say?
Speaker 2 (39:55):
I agree? I like Lyle as an upside pick. I
think he could be a twenty twenty player. I think
you there's that sort of potential there as a fourth outfielder. Yeah,
I definitely definitely going to be interested in Dylan Lyle.
I might even push him to a three.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
I think there's upside, and I think the price, at
least to me, seems to be right. So i'm I'm
I'm jumping on the Dale and Lyle train.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Richard Dale and Lole at fifty one, Jordan Beck at fifty.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Oh No, there's a tough one because I like Beck
as well. Uh, I like both more than I like
Burlason and bar Show. But Brian Reynolds is a nice
safe back. I like them both better than Jason Dominguz.
I don't I can keep moving.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
I don't really see I don't.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Yeah, can we just both agree?
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Never to compare somebody to Michael Trout. That's too sad.
Michael Trout at forty five. That upsets me too much.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I did I agree. I skipped I skipped him rich
I just don't want to.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
I don't want to name that Michael Trout is an
average player. I just don't want to. I don't want
to admit that.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
I think that's fair. I get it all right.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Out of the national starters, which pitcher intrigues you the most.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
There's only one, and it's Mackenzie Gore. And two things
have to happen. He has to stay healthy, and he
has to avoid going off the rails for a month
or so, something he's done in the past two seasons.
But of their starting pitching, the only one that I
have any interest in is Mackenzie gore to.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Wash So what about what's his face? Uh?
Speaker 2 (41:51):
Yeah, that's pitch. Yeah yeah he did. Uh. I'm I'm
not really a believe there. I I mean, I'm gonna
head in different, in a different direction. When his name
gets cold, that's that's when I'll be jumping all over
those Miami Marlin starters. Minor leaguers, all.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
Right, give me a sleep in the organization.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Minor and majors, Minor majors. Okay, I got a couple,
but the one I sort of like a fair bit
is Jose Ferrer. Okay, July and August we're strong. September
not so much. But when I look at the competition
for saves in Washington, I feel a lot better about
(42:38):
Jose Ferrer. I think he gets first shot, and I
think he's probably the best option. I might even bump
him up around or too. I'm gonna look at last year.
He be simply tired in September That's that's my story
that I'm gonna gonna stick to for now. But I
like Ferrera, and I also like and and again have
(43:00):
to wait and see what the spring brings in that, right,
lt Ter. But Jarlen Susannah intrigues me for that big,
big strikeout potential. Could we see him in the second
half next year? What say you?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
I like Harlan Cecinia. Yeah, I think he's got a
great art. Yeah, yeah, it's yeah, Harlan. So yeah, I
think there's potential closer upside. But Jose Ferrara, based on
Tham's recommendation last year, I play in twelve Dynasty leagues. Again,
not recommend it. I have been six leagues, tom me.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
So.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Okay, I make it excited.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
I just made the Christmas guard list.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
Absolutely absolutely. I hope you're right so time. What's out
anybody else?
Speaker 2 (43:47):
No, that's about I am not overly enthused about the Nets.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
It's got some holes, you know. I think they Dylan
Cruz needs to play well, yeah, and Wood needs to
have a better second half, and they need to find
another starting pitcher. It's a shame about Travis Akora he
got hurt. Otherwise I think we could have seen him.
It's Tommy John surgery. They need to find another starting
(44:14):
pitcher somewhere. Maybe it's Cake Avili can turn out to
me something, but it's it's a team that's had some
pretty good minor leaguers coming through and they just have
not developed at the you know, the at the upper
levels of the minor leagues. Brady House being one of those,
you got a shot, just didn't play well well.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Yeah. And Robert Hassel, he's penciled into the eighth spot.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
Yeah, and he's just he just has not developed.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
No, And you look at the pitching, and the one
that caught my eye I looking at their rotation. Their
number five starty starter, Josiah Gray remember him.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Oh yeah, the Dodgers. Yeah, he was hurt most of
last season.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So again it there are some players
that I would really like to roster on on the Gnats,
but there's some that I'm going to be avoiding in it.
And as much as I there's some I want, I'm
going to be avoiding some in exactly the opposite perspective.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
Timmy take a break, get back and do the Baltimore
Orioles in Boston's red sox and callidaday good pizza? Is
it pizza at parnight?
Speaker 2 (45:28):
It's pizza par day and it's Border Bar pizza for
timmy tonight.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Good for you?
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Yeah, it's uh hey, between my coffee and the Border
Bar pizza today couldn't get any better rich, it's.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Uh we had we had a salad for lunch, pro
we have a salad for dinners. Trying to shed a
little bit of weight here after after Thanksgiving. But it's
Elf watching Elf tonight. That's one of Christmas shows and
uh so be watching that.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
So when do you have Christmas with the Crane when
you have that scheduldren.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
So from those listeners. So we talked many years ago
about our favorite Christmas movies and Tim said very definitively
it was Christmas with the Cranks, absolutely his favorite. One
laughed hysterically. So of course, me, being a huge Tim
McCleod fan, I'd tell my wife, listen, we have to
(46:24):
watch Christmas and the Cranks. And within days of this conversation,
we're watching Christmas with the Cranks and literally made it
through the first third and looked at each other and go,
oh my god, there's something wrong with Tim, Like you know.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
That's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
It's like, what is wrong with this? I mean, it's
like awful. It was awful, so tim about it relentlessly.
I don't know if we've watched it again. I don't
know if I have the heart to even suggest my guess.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
There's probably no left After the Canaham got destroyed, it
slid down hill.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
Fun All right, let's I want the Baltimore Orioles. They
won ninety one games in twenty twenty four. They lost
eighty seven games last season. Do they bounce back in
twenty twenty six? How many games do they win?
Speaker 2 (47:23):
I'm gonna go with eighty four wins unless they find
a way to improve that rotation. I think they bounce
back and they're better, but they don't have the starting
pitching to qualify as a playoff caliber team right now.
They fix the bullpens fixed, but until they find a
way to improve that rotation, I think they're a five
(47:46):
hundred maybe plus or minus a couple of games either way,
and basically a five hundred five hundred type ten team.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Yeah, and remember twenty twenty three, it was the big
season where they had they had the best best record
in the American League, and they fell back in twenty
twenty four and then really fell back last season. So
you're you're looking at and so eighty four wins, that
would be seventy seven losses or something so better. Yeah,
(48:14):
seventy so not not great.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
No, again, it all depends on what they do with
the pitching.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
Yeah, yeah, agreed, I mean it is. You know, I
gotta tell you their their hitters need to step up
as well. We're gonna talk about counter henders. In fact,
let's talk about count Henderson. Now, he had thirty seven
runs in twenty twenty four, but only seventeen last season.
Exit velocity ninety two point one, a little slightly down
from twenty twenty four, but he's still in the top
(48:41):
ten percentile in the league. Is the guy that can
still hit a ton of home runs, but he hasn't,
at least last season over under thirty home runs this.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Season under but just slightly.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
So you're talking twenty five to thirty.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
Yeah, twenty in that range. I think twenty seven to
twenty eight somewhere in there. I think we'll see some
better numbers. I think Adli Rutchman will help with those
better numbers, assuming Adlie Ruschman plays the full.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
Season zero percent, no shot, definitely trade it does. Is
Adlie Rutchman trade it by the time the beginning of
the season rules.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Around No, But I can see that occurring at the
trade deadline.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
In twenty six, particularly if the Orioles don't play better.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Yeah, I I I think it's real possibility. I don't
think it is this offseason, but it's Hey, it's it's
getting you that stage. The service time continues to amass,
and at some point in time, Hey, they're not going
to resign them. You know, it's probably going to be
outside of their outside of their price range. So where
(49:56):
you go with it, you gotta move them.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
I agree, I mean I think they will. I would
not be surprised. I give it fifty to fifty that
he starts a season, maybe even more than fifty to
fifty that he starts a season not on the Orioles.
And it's curious because Pasaiah is okay, not really the
defensive catcher that Adli Rutchman is. And I know Adley
(50:22):
Rutchman is their guy. I mean that was the number
one overall pick. It's season He's He and Connar Henderson
are the face of that franchise. But it might be
the right time to move him. He's of maximum value
because another off season, Tommy, he's not going to be
the guy that they're going to be able to get
a lot in a trade.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
Well, you know the reason that I'm I'm thinking a
little bit later on is because last year he bet
at two twenty with nine homers and twenty nine RBIs.
Are are they going to be able to exclude extract
Maax on my value after that sort of a season And
(51:07):
I don't think so. That's why that's why I'm predicting
a little bit a little bit later. You know, give
him a chance to show that he can bounce back
and you know, oh yeah, he had two good years
twenty three and twenty four. You know where be it?
Twenty homers, drove in eighty at nineteen drove in seventy nine.
(51:28):
But is that really outstanding? Rich?
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Well, here here's what the AA says. The data says
he's a great a very good defender, not a great defender,
very good defender. His chase rate is with rate, his
strike at rate, his walk righter in the upper eightieth
percent on the lee. This is a guy that's a
great contact hitter, very patient at the place. A switch hitter,
a switch hitting catcher that can hit is a rarity.
(51:56):
He's a good defender, so that's hard to find from
a fantasy stamp point. Though. His average exit of velocity
has just never been there, so he's he is not
a big home run hitter. Can he hit fifteen to twenty? Absolutely,
And I think a fifteen to twenty home run hitter
with that kind of back control, I think he gets.
I think people will buy in it. I think he's
(52:17):
still a very, very good player, and so I think
it might be time to move him.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Yeah. See, I take a look at the obp Okay
in twenty four three eighteen last year three oh seven.
His ops in twenty three was the other side of
eight hundred eight oh nine twenty four to seven oh
nine last year six seventy three. And I know there's
some injuries and other issues, but I get that the
(52:45):
individual metrics are showing huge skill, but we haven't really
seen it translated over the past couple of seasons on
the stat sheet, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
And part of that is he doesn't hit the ball
very hard, so he's got a low babbit two forty
babbitt last season to seventy two the year before that.
But I think you should be able to recover to
a two seventy to eighty babbit, which should give him
a too sixties type of batting average and seventy eighty
points on top of that from an on base percentage.
I mean, I would think that if I'm in an
(53:18):
analytics department of a major League baseball team, that's what
I would put on Natalie Rutchman to sit there and say, well,
he just hasn't done it. And I don't think you
could say that Babbit's going to correct, because I think
anybody worth their salt is going to say that Babbit's
always going to below average. Doesn't have any speed either,
But I mean the context skills are great. I mean
(53:40):
fifteen sixteen percent strikeout right, I mean from both sides
of the plate, that's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Yeah. No, I he's sort of a retchman to me,
is an an enigma. To me, he really is. I
expect so much better and yet we haven't seen it. Right.
So at some point in time, I think I think
I might surprise a few people who might Catcher rankings
come over Rich.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
Yeah, he's again going back to my notion that he
should be moved. He's got two more years of team control.
He's a free agent in twenty twenty eight, so this
is this might be the time to move him, particularly
when you've got Sam Basia. Samuel Basaya coming up can
be you know, maybe catch eighty games, ninety games for
(54:28):
you and be okay. And then they get you know,
an elite defensive catcher there as well that can spell him,
and I think that would that might be the play.
And then you've got Ike Davis coming up, their first
round draft pick last season. He should move quickly. It
all might work. That's that's why I'm thinking Adley Rutchman
(54:50):
could be an interesting guy this winter meeting over the winter.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Well, yeah, because you know they've got Besia signed to
that extension right last August. Yeah, he's not he's not
playing in the minors. Desaiah is going to be up
and finding as many at bats as the Orioles can
basically give him.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Right, Well, tell us how many at bats can be?
The number five runs and his batting average.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
Okay, Sammy Besiyah, what do I have here? Twenty six
home runs, two thirty five batting average four and fifty
at bats.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
I think that's very fair. I think the power is
going to be enormous. I don't think he's quite ready.
He's still very very young. But yeah, yeah, I like that.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Yeah, I think I agree that's I put it together
with the power is there. The batting average still a
work in progress.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Let's see pasie it. Do we have enough. Let's see
what we got from his defensive metrics. I know he's
not going to be qualified, but move a little bit
pop time, so really good pop times one point nine
to three. Anything below two is good framing skills or average.
And yeah, I mean it's not a horrible defensive catcher.
(56:03):
It's not a great defensive catcher, but it's not horrible either.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Yeah, in a pinch, you'll get the job done.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
Again, I would think with the young pitching staff, they
probably want more and that's what the Orioles are going
to have. But you know, sometimes you gotta be opportunistic.
I think the Oriels need to do something. I mean,
I am a bit of an Orioles fan. My wife's
a huge Oriols fan. They just can't go win, in
my humble opinion to me, in the twenty twenty six
(56:31):
and go, well, you know, Adley was heard Gunner was
heard to beginning of the season Jackson Holiday. I think
it's time to give a wake up call to that
organization and go, you know, ADLEI Ruschman didn't play well enough.
We're moving on. We're going with this new kid.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
Sam Waibasaiah, Yes, Sir, reminds me that old Herman's Hermit's
classic second verse same as the first. They got they
gotta they gotta change that. The second verse has got
to be a little different. I think you gotta.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
Yeah, And it just feels like because he's going to
start to get expensive, and I don't know, that's what
I think. Sorry, that same all beside Gunnerhunters we talked about.
I mean, nobody seens he buying on Kobe Mayo's late
home un searge last season's eighty p for eighty, but
I lied because that's I was just looking at U
drafting whole leagues. It's actually three fifty eight, so that's
(57:21):
it's still going as an afterthought and drafts, what say you?
Is there any value there? Are you just skipping over them?
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Well? When you have eighty four strikeoats and only two
hundred and sixty three at bats. That to me is problematic.
The fact that Ryan mount Castle is still lurking in
the shadows and they have seventeen outfielders to find a
roster home for, so a conversion to first base could
be in the cards. I'm just passing. I'm going right
by Kobe Mayo.
Speaker 1 (57:50):
Rich, Yeah, Koby Mayo is a thirty first first basement
off the board. I mean, I think you'd like him
more than Nolan Shantywell, but yes, I mean you got
Ryan over not by much, wow, I mean you got
to take trust and Casses at twenty eight, and Andrew
Vaughn at twenty seven, of Govargas at twenty sixth Jake
Berger Lewis arrises weird, so we'll skip over in Yeah,
(58:15):
call me hard. I mean these are all guys that
you're probably gonna take as your corner infield or over
Kobe Mayo.
Speaker 2 (58:22):
I think with a lot of those guys, twenty five
to thirty home runs should be part of the program.
I don't feel the same way with Kobe Mayo, So yeah, no, definitely.
Now you know the Menzardo's and that they definitely hold
a lot more interest than say Kobe Mayo.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
It's my favorite question for you because I'm really curious
what you have to say. Trevor Rodgers. I think it's
fair to say it was a revelation last season. That
was the word I used. Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (58:51):
That is fair? Yes, very fair.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
Posted a one eighty one earra in eighteen stars. It
was fantastic. His x e ra A was three forty
one and he only struck at eight point eight per nine.
He is going as a sixty sixth pitcher off the board.
I count it the fiftieth starting pitcher. Are you comfortable
taking him as a strong number four starter or is
(59:13):
there value there as a as a strong number four starter?
Speaker 2 (59:18):
As a number four, yeah, I have no qualms about
taking Grever Rogers any higher than that, and.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
It's likely to be a past really I might.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
Yeah, I'm not elevating.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
I can. I'm partaking the Trevor Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
In that case, you'll be probably very content with him
as a number three if you want to push it.
Speaker 1 (59:40):
I might. I might be content with him be a
number three.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
Yeah, I'm okay with that. I there's just some I
plan on doing some investing in the late teen rounds.
Mid to late teens where I think I can get
a the Cody Ponts types of my dreams or nightmares.
So I'm not gonna elevate I'm not gonna elevate Rogers.
(01:00:08):
So I got, you know me, I've got I've got
to play some I feel my life is wasted if
I didn't play some of those Asian players coming back rich.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
So Trevor Rogers at Trevor Rodgers at sixty nine or
Sandy out Contra at sixty You're taking Sandy a Contra.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Oh yeah, I'm taking him a lot higher than that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
What about Sandy Algot, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
I'm taking him even higher.
Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
Okay, Bobba Chandler at sixty nine or Trevor Rodgers at
sixty I'm sorry, Bobart Chandler at sixty seven or Trevor
Rodgers at sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
How do you pass on a guy named Bubba? I
can't and just skill set to go along with it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
Ryan Pepio at sixty five or Trevor Rodgers at sixty nine,
Pepio Rasmussen at sixty three. Uh no, I don't want
to ask me now, Okay, Yeah, so there it's yeah,
then you get Gavin Williams, Michael King, Robbie Ray, Lewis Castile.
(01:01:13):
I mean you got to take them over, Trevor Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Mm hmm yeah, Roger, Yeah, some really good pictures. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
The Carlers were Don Sonny Gray, Pabo Lopez, Tradeon seven.
That's pretty interesting, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Yeah, Tanner Biby at seventy two, Kate Horton at seventy five,
Rangers for Is at seventy six.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Yeah. Interesting. Okay, give me a sleeper in the organization
minor and majors.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Okay, my first sleeper okay, the owners, the ownership group
late led by David Rubinstein. Okay, the window is closing
and they are all sleeping on the starting pitching needs
spend some money. Okay. So, uh my next one is
(01:02:07):
Keegan Aichan. I think still going to find I think
he's still going to find his way into five six
seven saves next year. Okay, he's not the closer, I
don't think he will be, but as a middle reliever
with decent strikeout right, So I sort of like Keegan
Aikan Okay, and my one true true sleeper is Michael
(01:02:33):
Ford for it. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, could yeah that
great twenty twenty five season. Could he could he parlay
that into an arrival in the second half of twenty
six h Rich.
Speaker 1 (01:02:48):
Yes, I do like Trey Gibson a little bit more,
but uh, okay, yeah, but Ford, I for it, actually
pitched better. His stuff was a little bit better last
year than it was in twenty twenty four. I do
think Ty Gibson's got better stuff overall. But look, I mean,
Fork gets a shot. So I am supporting you, supporting
(01:03:10):
you in your notion.
Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
Okay, and you know what, I'll add Gibson to the
list because looking at the list of Baltimore starters right now,
anybody in the minors that's pitching well should get an
opportunity at some point in time. I think in Baltimore this.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Ye yeah, jarn Watts Brown should as well. Former Toronto
Blue Jay like that as well. And it don't sleep
Tonnally in Luis de Leon, who pitched very well in
the Fall League. So he's still he might spend all
the all of next season down there. But any chance
we see Enrique Bradfield the kind of next Chandler Simpson.
Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
I'm still working on whether or not Dylan Beavers is
a full time player. I haven't got that far. They
got so many outfielders. You know, there's only so many jobs.
I would say right now, the answer to that is
no one. Bradfield, Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Would think so too. I think Dylan Beavers, I think
I think all those guys are going to get moved.
With Beavers, I would not be surprised if Colton Kowser
gets moved.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Yeah, they gotta do, they gotta. They gotta thin the
Oatfield heard a little bit in Baltimore, rich.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
And they need to bring and they you know, look
the history was saying they're not going to sign any
pictures again. Ryan Halsey's a nice sign. It's still not
a ton of money. We'll see if they've they've plunk
down the Dylan Sees money. We'll see if that happens.
What they can do is move Colton Cowser for some
some really good picture and they've got guys that can
come in and I think be as good, if not
(01:04:42):
eighty percent of Colt Kowser. They don't have anybody that
can pitch.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
Yeah, you know, they it looks like they you know,
they they nailed it with that Trevor Rodgers deal. But
for the first year after that deal was made at
true didn't look at that way. And how many Trevor
Rogers are you going to manage to procure? Okay, by
moving out, the odds I think are stacked fairly against you.
(01:05:09):
I'm not saying it can't be done, Sure it can
be done, but you're not playing with high odds, are you.
It's hey, when you look at it at dyl and
sees you know what you're getting pretty much right. So yes,
I could speak.
Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
I can speak from somewhat authoritatively on this because I
have talked to I've talked to the Orioles a lot,
their front office a lot. They're feeling pretty damn good
about themselves on Trevor Rodgers, and I think it's a
double edged sword. I think it's it's positive that they
identified a guy that was they felt like it was
(01:05:43):
a diamond in the rough, and they turned him into
something and they prove that they were right. The negative
side on that is, I'm afraid that that is going
to set their tones that they're going to be looking
for diamonds in the rough and for get about the
guys that are already diamonds. You know what I mean?
(01:06:04):
The diamond on the woman's finger already, Like, give me
that one as opposed to the one the rough.
Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Well, yeah, because we all know that some of those
diamonds are just gonna be lumps of cool at the
end of the day, aren't they.
Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
You can get over confident. I'm not to say they
got lucky with Trevor Rodgers. And maybe there's luck in
all of that. I'm sure it was really good analytics
work that they did to figure out and scouting to
do all of that, But it's you're not gonna hit
on all of those guys. For every Trevor Rodgers and
you're gona swing and this one a dozen guys, you
know what, it's gonna be a high number.
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
Yeah. Are you gonna build your rotation around those odds
and be successful? I'd say no, right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
So if they bring in a bunch of kids this
season that are like Trevor Rodgers, oh, that's an interesting
arm that it's that there's gonna be big problems. It's
just not it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Yeah yeah, yeah out of one out of one, out
of twelve. You got to bring a lot of arms
to find that second, that second success story. Don't you.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
Yep, they are very very proud of what they did
with Trevor Rodgers. I'll just leave it at that. They
should be to a certain exact. I mean, they should
be just I hope it doesn't drive their strategy. And
that's my concern. I've seen that. I've seen that fallacy
occur too often. It's too many settings where look how
smart I am. I'll show I'll show everybody how smart
(01:07:28):
I can be.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
Well, yes, and Gunnar Henderson is in a New York
Yankee right.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
Yeah, fill in the blank. He's somewhere. Yeah, let's take
a break, come back and finish the boss in Red
Sox and get out of here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
Sounds good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Unfortunately, know a lot about the American League East teams.
I'm fairly good contacts in all these organizations, including the
Boston Red Sox. Really like the Red Sox front office.
I like what they're doing. I love their minor league
system that they were developing. I love the fact that
they tied up Roman Anthony Love Love Love, Peyton Totleyne
(01:08:18):
Connelly Early's looks also very interesting. Say, I love the
setup there with the Red Sox and their ability their
history of not being able to spend their history of
spending money. I think it's a great setup.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Yeah, they they will. They will definitely not shy away
from spending when they believe the results have the potential
for very positive endings. And yeah, no, it's it's a
good setup. I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
And I didn't ask a question about Tristan Casses. And
I know Tim's a huge fan. He's been burned. Has
not been his fault. Tristan Casses just got hurt last season.
I know the Red Sox organization, particularly the analytics apartment,
well enough to know that they have not waivered on
Tristan Cass's at all. They think this guy is a
(01:09:10):
chance to be an impact player, power hitting first baseman
that can hit. He's going late as a first baseman, Timmy,
I don't know, man, I like the setup for Tristan
cass is coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
As much as I have been burnt, I'm not ready
to throw in the towel Richard, not yet.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
I mean first bass. I think maybe it's not second
base in terms of not being much. But there's Tristan
Cass's last night look was going in the twenty eighth.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Come on, yeah, you know, I know you can't get
them all. Okay, first base, second base in the oafield,
there's a problem with all three, right, but you should
be able to address two out of three. Pick your
boys and then go with it.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Yeah. I like christ and Cassis this year. For what
it's worth. It has nothing to do with the date
of the data. I mean, because there's nothing there last year.
I don't know how many at bats because it was
nothing there. But if he comes back healthy, which he should,
there's a lot to like it. But anyway, let's move
on Roman Anthony twenty twenty six. That line I went
(01:10:17):
at bats, home run, stolen bases, and batting average.
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
Well, and I'm going to give you a fifth category.
At bats five point fifty okay. Eighteen home runs.
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Interesting, not as many as I would have thought or hoped.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
Fourteen stolen bases okay, a to eighty batting average okay.
And I'm going to add run scored in here because
I think it could be triple digits and that is
a big, big number to have in the bank on
runs scored. So yeah, I like Roman Roman Anthony a lot,
(01:10:57):
and I won't be shying away from him at his
draft position.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
I don't believe Roman Anthe's got huge raw power. He's
still a young kid, so his man strength is still coming.
But I'm looking at average eggs of velocity. Get this everyone,
ninety four point five miles an hour. That is in
the what is it here? Like almost one hundredth percentile.
(01:11:22):
Few hit the ball as hard as he does. Hey,
this is I mean, I know Tim said eighteen home runs?
Is that what you said?
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
Yeah, I'm being very conservative there. I would very certain point.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Yeah, I'd be very disappointed if he did eighteen. This
is a guy and again still coming into his man's strength,
still coming into his body. He's still a very young kid,
doesn't turn twenty two until sometime next season. But it's
all set up there for him to be a massive
home run hitter.
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
I think he's going to on the overall blend. I
don't think there's going to be any per se a
week spots. Okay, he's gonna score runs, he's gonna drive
in runs, he's going to hit for power, he's going
to steal some bases in the batting average should be
in the top ten to fifteen percent. Uh all round.
(01:12:15):
I like Roman Anthony a lot, and he is only
going to get better. We're talking like you said, twenty
two year old kid. Yeah, he's only going to get better.
Speaker 1 (01:12:24):
I've long been a fan of Marcela Mayor, but his
injury history has given me pause. Plus, he just wasn't
very good when he got called up. Does he hit?
Does he get five hundred plate appearances in twenty twenty six?
What say you?
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:12:39):
Four and fifty? No two hundred?
Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
Oh boy, Yeah you're You're not You're not at all?
So hiss adp is thirty fourth round? No interest?
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
I'm assuming minimal at best. Yeah, the highe the high
STRAKEO ray combined with a little walk rate that concerns me.
And as a bench stash, you'll be on the list,
but near the bottom. I think there's I think there's
more upside sitting elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Richard interesting. The strikeout really disappointed me. I thought he'd
hit better than that, and maybe just maybe just never
got going and he got hurt and then that was it.
Or maybe it's just not that good. I could I
could be over evaluating him.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Yeah, I'm not sure what the answer is, but based
on what we saw last year, I'm not prepared to
elevate him right now.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Yeah, I mean, I totally get it. I mean, I'm
going to put this question in here. This is all
about me, because it's like I've been really wrong with
this guy so far so and you're not giving me
any grace at all. You're saying I'm wrong, and which
is which is? Okay? I mean this is the way
you do.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
Well, I'm saying you're right, you have your we have
the same concerns, the injury history plus the strake oat.
Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Yeah okay, well then they're great. Yes, I'm concerned, but
I'm not giving up yet. Yeah, okay, I'm still not convinced.
I can't believe I was that wrong. How about it,
I'll say it that way. I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Yeah, that's great. Yeah, yeah, no, I and I get
I get it. Yeah, yeah, I now see. I feel
I feel the same way we were in opposite like
Christian Campbell. Who's next to your next question? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
Is Christian Camboy Red SoC on April first?
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Yes he is.
Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
Really so, I said he's going before morsel A mayor
at for eight. Any interest.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Yes, I have more interest in Campbell than I do
in Mayor.
Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Why Well, he went back to Triple A and he
did everything right, Okay, I think he got I think
the problem. Part of the problem there is he enjoyed
initial success. Okay, and not that initial success is a
bad thing, but when it came time to adapt, he didn't.
(01:15:09):
And and uh, you know, you look at his minor
league numbers, and I still believe, as you do with
with Mayor. I still believe in Campbell. And I'm not ready.
I'm not ready to say to wave a white flag yet.
Speaker 1 (01:15:29):
I'm not sure I'm ready to say wave a white
flag as well. I think he'll be better than what
he showed. I'm not sure he's going to be a
great impact player. I think he gets moved. I think
he and Randa Ran are gone.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
I agree with Dran. Yeah, But then again, where does
Campbell play? You know, that's that's a big question. But
when I look at what he did when he went
back to Triple A last year, okay, two seventy three,
batting average, three eighty two OBP, Yeah, eight hundred seven
(01:16:07):
ninety nine ops, eight home runs, still in bases four,
I'm just not ready to walk away from Campbell yet.
Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
So, yeah, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
So.
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
Here here's my here's my big concern about Campbell and
maybe we can figure this out. So I'm looking at
roster resource and they got Saydan Rafaela at second base. Look,
you're not going to take one of the best defenders
in centerfield and put him at second base. I'm not
buying that. Sadan Rafaela is going to be in center
field and you throw Roman Anthony out there, will you?
(01:16:40):
Or brave you? Maybe on a strong platon. That's a
pretty good outfield.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Right, So, which means they can move Duran, right.
Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
They can definitely move Duran. That would free up a
spot for second base for Christian Campbell because Christian Campbell
can't play third camp short so he's got to be
second base kind of center field kind of that uh,
that kind of model of a guy, right, because he
doesn't have a strong arm, and I think second base
(01:17:09):
would fit him perfectly. He could get full time at
bats there if they don't sign somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Mm hmm, yeah, no, that makes sense. And they've got
a guy in Rome Gonzalez who can play all over
the place as a super sub.
Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Yep, when you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
Get into tough matchup, when you get into tough matchups,
you know, hey, he can he can, he can sub
in for afaela he can sub sub in for Campbell,
he gets he can sub in for Mayor at third
base if that's the direction they had, you know what
I mean. So yeah, I and our conversation seems to
(01:17:45):
leave me to believe that Duran definitely is not going
to be on that team breaking camp in February.
Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
I just don't understand. And again, Roster Resource does their homework.
I don't understand how you can put sat on Rafael
at second base. That makes zero sense to me, and
so I ran Is appears to be the odd man out,
which then kind of backtrack from my Christian Campbell comment
that would open it up for him to start the
(01:18:15):
season at second base, provided they don't sign anyone, and
why would they. They should be training and signing for.
Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
Pitching exactly, and they have. Their pitching is actually coming
around pretty good with the addition of Sonny Gray. You know,
you throw him with crochet and blow's a three four
And yeah, then you start looking at looking at some
of the some of the kids. Connor early, uh, totally,
(01:18:44):
it's it's looking like that rotation could be a very
solid one very quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:18:53):
I love. Well. My next question is Conley Early at
eighty one or Peyton totally at one thirty seven, which
I thought was really odd, such a vast difference in
their eightyps. But who do you like better?
Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
I'm going with early early really. Yeah. I love the
low walk rates. Yeah, from a number four starter that
really that really appeals to me, and obviously it appeals
to a lot of the people drafting at the NFBC.
What was his strikeout to walk rate? It was just
a very very small sample size in the bigs, but
(01:19:29):
I think it was something like twenty nine to four
something like that. When I see numbers like that, it
gets my attention in a big way.
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Yeah, but he didn't ever have that in the minor leagues.
It was it was average control, good control, but average control.
So yeah, I mean he walked one point eight six
per nine, totally got the better arm.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
I I'll take you, okay. Yeah. I look at twenty
nine walks and seventy one in two thirds at double
A last year. You look at the home run numbers
out of early last year in total five and one
hundred innings pitched were actually no, what was it, yeah,
(01:20:14):
five five and hundred. Yeah, he struck out twenty nine
walk four, but even if you go back to say,
twenty twenty four, he walked thirty nine and one hundred
and one hundred and five hundred and six innings. Yeah,
I like them both, but I'm not afraid to buy
in on early early.
Speaker 1 (01:20:34):
But totally totally ninety one and two thirds innings in
twenty twenty five in the minor leagues and he walked
twenty three. Guys. That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Yeah, maybe I'm being overly enamored by that twenty nine
and four that you know. I look at the head
rates and yeah, they're both fine pitchers. I call it
my gut, call it whatever, but I probably will have
too many shares of early this year.
Speaker 1 (01:21:06):
Totally six foot six two and fifty pounds with an
average fastball of ninety six point six miles an hour,
touching ninety nine from the left side. Folks.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Yeah, that's that's moving.
Speaker 1 (01:21:21):
Connelly early, Conny early, come on, Connily are six foot
three hundred and ninety five pounds, still good size, fastball
city ninety four from the left side's still really good
with a great curveball. So I mean they're both I'm
kind of with I like totally more just because I
think he's more of a power pitcher from the left side.
(01:21:41):
He'd think those guys are a little bit unduvisual. But
to me, you've got Early, totally, totally Early. You've got
those in conjunction with Sonny Gray and Crochet and your
buddy Brayon Bellow. That's pretty good five starters.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Well yeah, and you know you got Cutter, Kirk Crawford
and Patrick Sandoval kicking around for when you need an
injury replacement. You've got some depth. You know. I'm not
tooting the horns of those guys, but they will be
useful over the course of a long season. Who knows,
maybe Kyle Harrison can write the ship at some You know,
(01:22:21):
the Red Sox are setting themselves up to have a
really really good rotation next year and an even better
one in twenty seven and twenty eight, and they'll figure
out the bats. I think rich I like.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
The particularly if they if they move Duran, Darren Jared Durant,
and I mean, they're going to get somebody really good
for me. Taron Uran's really good player. If he is
depth and they can move him to make sure that
all these guys are getting or the side keep Jared
Durant to move Christian Campbell. That's really turned a really
(01:22:57):
good picture.
Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
Chris Jim Campbell will return a far better picture than Duran,
will way better in my opinion. Well, he is twenty
three year old, locked up for the next seven years.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
I was about to say durand kind of hard to bet.
Duran has got more of a track record. But I
think they'll both return really good stuff. But you're right,
probably Campbell out of the two, is the more valuable one.
Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
Yeah, it's going to be interesting. You see what Boston does.
But I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do.
I like the addition of Sunny Great as you know,
as a temporary Yeah, a one two year project.
Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
Yeah, totally. It's they're set up. I mean, I love
what the Red Sox have done. And again I think
they're the kind of organization that is going to put
the pedal to the medal as opposed to the Orioles.
And I would not be a surprise if they not
to say they're going to bring in trek school will
but bring in a surprise big shove it guy and
(01:23:59):
say okay, we're playing we're playing hardball here, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
Well you look at the Yankees, and you look at
the Jays and you look at the Oe that there's
a lot of talent in that division. You have to
play hardball if you're gonna if you're going to earn
a playoff birth over the next two to three years,
that's right, you're gonna have You're gonna have to play
hardball or else you're gonna be a fourth place team, right.
Speaker 1 (01:24:21):
Which, welcome to the Welcome to the Orioles that if
they don't play hardball, and and the Red Sox. You know,
the Yankees are gonna spend money like it's like it's
running that there's going to And we're seeing the Blue
Jays with their tastes of the World Series. They're not
backing off. And the Rays are always good. You know,
I don't know how they do it. But by the way,
(01:24:43):
do you hear about the brain surgery that that Xavier
eyesac hat that sounded really scary.
Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
Yeah, I just caught it real briefly. I didn't have
a chance to just caught it before the podcast today. Yeah,
I just came up and I saw it. Yeah, I'm
going to have to look into it. I don't know
enough about it, but it was like, wow, yeah, you know,
where did I come from?
Speaker 1 (01:25:06):
I heard it. I heard it was a benign tumor
that I mean, it was very very serious and apparently
a very risky surgery that he had. But apparently he's okay.
But you know, it was one of those that uh
you know, they weren't. It was very very difficult surgery
from my understanding, So I'm glad he's okay. Hopefully I'll
(01:25:27):
be able to have uh, you know, great life in
a in a major league career or some kind of career.
But I thought that was kind of just may mean
the razor always there. I mean, it's a really really
tough division. Let's get out of here. To me, what
any other reason, any reason to not think a rold
As Chapman is a top ten closer.
Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
Well, you know, I think when you look at a
rolled As Chapman, okay, uh, I think you buy him
as a top ten closer. But there are no guarantees. Okay.
All you have to do is look at the numbers
that ere oldest Chapman posted in twenty twenty two, twenty
twenty three, and twenty twenty four, a four to forty
(01:26:08):
six year rat three h nine year A three seventy
nine ear race. Over the three years prior to last year,
he saved three games less than he did last year. Okay,
so I think you're gonna have to pay for him
as a top ten, but there are no guarantees, and
(01:26:30):
e oldest Chapman will be thirty eight years old. I believe, yes,
at the end of February next year. There is risk
with that pick, but I think that's the price you're
gonna have to pay for that risk.
Speaker 1 (01:26:44):
Yeah, and I think the Red Sox will also bring
in guy in the ready in case the world as
Chapman gets hurt or is ineffective as well. To me,
give me a sleeper the organization minor majors.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
Okay, well, let's go to the bullpen. Right off the bat.
Garrett with Locke posted a two twenty five year A
with ninety one strikeouts and seventy two innings pitched last year.
I'm gonna predict, predict at least five to ten saves
with great peripherals, possibly more.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
Awesome anybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with Luis Parrales. Don't scout the
stat line, scout the skills, and there are plenty.
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
Yeah, coming back from Tommy John surgery. I think that's
a good call from you. It's got a great arm,
so uh.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
Yeah, there's a there's another arm in that system that's
that could be in a very very meaningful role in
a relatively short period of time. I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:27:43):
I totally agree. I mean it's uh yep, totally agree,
and so I paint totally condie early Lewis Parrales, your
Danny Maniagro had Tommy John surgery, so he's not an option.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Right yep.
Speaker 1 (01:27:58):
Looking at the other guys, Keiths and Witherspoon, I mean
he could do pretty quickly, so keep an eye on him.
Everyone to me that, let me take a quick break,
come back and let's wrap this puppy up.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Sounds good.
Speaker 1 (01:28:20):
I know we've been talking for hours and he apologize,
but we are done, my friend, and you're having pizza
par with with the smell of coffee all mixed together.
Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
And like I said, it's it's your How should I
say that? It's It just doesn't get any better, Rich,
It really doesn't. The only thing to be better is
if I had ice cream with heaps of Hershey chocolate
sauce on it for dessert and a scoop of whip cream.
But again two out of three eight bad. I'll survive
(01:28:52):
with my border bar beizza tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
So what kind of what's on the pizza? What's on
the pizza?
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Uh? The first one has as bacon and like it's
it's supposedly hamburg but they're like small meatballs, Okay, spicy
meatballs and bacon and mushrooms. And I think the other
one has bacon and sliced tomatoes across the top with
(01:29:18):
extra cheese. And my cardiologist does not approve.
Speaker 1 (01:29:23):
Are you are you going across to eat it? Or
is it coming coming your way?
Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
It's coming coming coming our way. As long as Jodie
doesn't get busted at the border and they're confiscated, we'll
be eating it home.
Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
All right, Timmy. We're having salads or something. I don't know, right, Yeah,
we're just starting to clean out the refrigerator at this juncture.
At this juncture, so we had salads for launch. Timmy.
That is a wrap, my friend. Thank you for enduring
a couple of hours here with me. Lots of fun.
We'll get this podcast out in the next ten minutes.
Everybody will have this Sunday night and then Tuesday will
