Segment 3 – Fantasy Questions of the NL East – Nationals

Segment 4 – Fantasy Questions of the AL East – Yankees, Rays, and Blue Jays
New York Yankees
1.Jasson Domingues – AB, HR, SB, and BA – 350, 14, 19, .240
a.He’s still going as the 45th outfielder off the board. However, there are brutal splits showing – .290 SLG vs. LHP, .420 vs. RHP
2.Few players hit the ball harder than Ryan McMahon does (93.3 MPH exit velo) with decent loft. He walks a ton, but strikes out too much 32%. That is the definition of three-true-outcome player, however, he only hit 20 home runs last season, but 8 in 54 games after being traded.
a.Is the dream over for 25 to 30 home runs or could it happen in 2026? 20 to 25 is more reasonable.
b.He’s the 34th third baseman off the board (370 ADP). Am I crazy to think there is value in Draft-and-Hold leagues? Yes.
3.Anthony Volpe will start the season on the IL after having shoulder surgery. There’s a ton of rumors surrounding his long-term role in NY.
a.Is he worth a gamble in D&H Leagues – he’s the 29th shortstop off the board? No
b.Are you a buyer or seller in Dynasty Leagues? Seller at 70 cents
4.Spencer Jones – stat line for 2026 – AB, HR, SB, BA, and strikeouts – 250 AB, 11, 15, .245, 100+ Ks
5.Cam Schlitter is being drafted as 49th pitcher off the board (36th starter), so he’s look at as a strong #3 starter. Are you buying into this in 2026? – No. Total pass.
6.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)
a.Austin Wells – as my second catcher
b.Will Warren – ADP is 330, late #5, Tim likes him.

Tampa Bay Rays
1.What is more likely - Chandler Simpson steals 75 bases or Junior Caminero hits 50 home runs? Junior hits 50 home runs
2.Stat line for 2026 for Jonathan Aranda – AB, HR, and BA – 500 AB, 22 HR, .275 BA
a.He’s going as the 15th first baseman off the board. Are you interested?
3.Carson Williams hit 23 home runs and stole 22 bases in the minor leagues, but struck out a third of the time, hitting .213. In 106 plate appearances in the Major Leagues, he hit .172 with a 41% strikeout rate, but hit 5 home runs and 2 stolen bases.
a.Is he a full-time regular at some point, or is this the next Sam Hillard (who just signed in the KBO – if only he could hit? Maybe.
b.His ADP is 432 and is the 39th shortstop off the board. Any interest? Only as a waiver wire pickup.
4.Shane Baz is the 83rd pitcher off the board 64th starter – 15th round.
a.His ERA last season was 4.87, but his xERA was 3.85. He has four really good pitchers (all above a 25% whiff rate), but nothing that breaches 30%.
b.Having said all of that, do you have any interest?
i.Tim like the upside.
5.Which closers are you investing in early drafts for the Rays?
a.Uceta
6.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)
a.Tre’ Morgan

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Grading Societyations, everyone at Rich Wilson looking the Fantasy Baseball Live.
Today is December seventh, about three forty five in the afternoon,
and Tim and I are back. We just finished a
long podcast talking about prospects, which comes out on Wednesday,
I believe, and Timmy, we've got our normal show today.
We're talking about news and notes, and we've got fantasy

(00:42):
questions of the Al East, the Yankees, Rays, and Blue Jays.
So starting to get deeper and deeper into the fantasy
prep of the season. And next week we do catchers
Catching Rankings by the great Tim mccleoud.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, looking forward to it to give me an extra
an extra week to make sure I've got all my
spelling done correctly and everything all tidied up. And yeah,
things are things are sort of happening around the baseball world,
and that's going to continue for a while. Yeah, we're

(01:19):
going to start to see more rumors about some of
the Asian players coming over, some of already sign plus
we've seen some trades. I think it's going to be
both an interesting and busy time over the next four
to six weeks. Some of these players that are signing early.
I remember we We always used to wait because it

(01:40):
seemed like everybody wanted to wait until January to sign,
and then they dragged into spring training. Yeah. I think
more and more the smart moves, especially with players of question,
get them signed early and you know, get it done
and make your brands accordingly. I think I think we've

(02:02):
seen a shift there. Rich.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, well, the Winter meetings start tonight, really start to
go in the full, full mode tomorrow. So you're thinking
it's going to be an active winter meetings.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, I'm sure. You know, the players are going to
propose a salary cap and the owners will quickly accept
it and we'll move forward from there. Right.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah, I don't they talked about I don't know what
they talk about anymore at the at the winter meetings.
I think there's some minor kind of meetings that actually
take place, but it's more for teams to all be
in the same location and talk about trades and free acquisition,
free acquisition signing, et cetera. That's what they do to.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, it's like I have in a couple of my
fantasy leagues. We have monthly trade nights, okay, and yeah,
we just get together and try and make some deals.
Shoot the breeze, just a good, a good way of life,
lightning up the play.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Now you told me, I think you told me today
that you've got a draft coming up Monday? Is that right?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Starting Tuesday morning, four hours on the clock. Fifteen team mixed,
and I'm drafting at fifteen at the corner.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
So who do you hope is there?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Who do I hope is there? I am probably my
initial reaction is looking at possibly Fernando Tatist Junior and
Kyle Tucker.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Wow, that'd be great.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah. If I can get two outfields early, two outfielders early,
I'm gonna look in that direction. Otherwise, Nah, I don't
know how it's gonna shake down, but it's definitely gonna
be two bats. Hey, Junior Caminero is sitting there with
his forty plus home run up. There's gonna be some
good picks there, But definitely I'm going I'm going with

(04:05):
two bats unless there's some serious if if Scooble's still
sitting there at the corner, hey, that becomes a no brainer.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
But what about schemes or croche would you take one
of them?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
No? Neither. What The only picture that would interest me
is Schooble.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
What about Gunner Henderson. If Gunner Henderson was there, would
you consider him?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
No, I I think he'll be there. But I think
I like to tease Junior. I think I like the
outfielders better. If I can shore that one up with
two early picks, and I can focus on first base
second base with one of my second picks. So I'm

(04:54):
sort of leaning in that direction. Hey, I'm not gonna
I'm not gonna find the players I want. H Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah, Bobby's not going to make it to you. So
he's not going to make it to you.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, it ain't gonna happen Rich. But at the same
point in time, if I can shore up a couple
positions that I think are a little bit lighter, I'll
take two or the three and go from there. The
outfield really concerns me heading into this year, the more
and more I look at it. If I can get
two good outfielders early, then I think that takes a

(05:28):
little bit of pressure off until we get into say,
rounds ten to twenty, somewhere in that range.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
What if Ronald Acuna drops to you, I'll take him.
I was about to say, are you still there?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Really?

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Made you think.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, it did make me think because I because there's.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
A chance to I mean, he could be there.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well yeah, and if he is there, yeah, he'll have
a home because I'm.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Looking at the NFBC and draft and whole league. So
they pitchers go early. So Scooball and Paul Skeens and
Garrett Crochet are going before your pick. But I would
think Schoobale's gonna go. But I don't know if Skan's
and Crochet. I don't think Crochet would go. Skeens might
so he So that means somebody else is going to

(06:23):
pop up, which is right depending on how smart your
team at your league is. Kyle Tucker seems like one
that people would jump on a little bit early. So
but he'd be the guy that I would really want
at the wheel though.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah it's you know, you got Gunnery, you got Francisco
Indoor uh vlad. They're all being drafted after that. You
know that several of those guys are going to go
simply because I don't I agree with you. I don't

(06:58):
think Skians, but I don't think Crochet will yeah go
before me. I think you'll be early.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Somebody like Fernando Gunner Lindoor. Tucker is going to go
and place of Garret Crochet.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Right, and hey, Vlad could go early, you know, yeah,
you don't know. Way, So I know I'll have plenty
of options that I'm going to like. I I know
that as tempting as Nick Kurtz would be, I can't
do it.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Oh you can't. I just don't do that.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I can't. I can't turn in your.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Baseball You got to turn in your baseball card, fantasy
baseball card, if you do that.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, it's just it's just tempting, you know what I mean?
The young kids. Yeah, blah blah blah. Nah. I I'd
like to have a better chance of winning the league,
and I think a couple of power speed combination type
bats it's a way to go. And you know, hey,
if I lose out on some of those outfielders, I

(08:03):
might have to look at friends to school in the
door and that thirty thirty potential, you know, definitely an option.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Yeah, I hear you. I think, Yeah, I think either
Fernando Tatis or Kyle Tucker, one of the two are
going to be there. I hope, for your sake, both
of them are going to be there. We'll see.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Yeah, yeah, it's the one. The one good thing about
about picking at the corner or the wheel, whatever you
want to call it, is you're gonna get You're gonna
get two players, and you can you can plan accordingly.
The bad thing is you get to wait thirty picks
until you get to come forward with the second part

(08:43):
and the third part and the fourth part of the plan.
You know, everything's going to happen very very quickly. You're
going to make you two picks and you're going to
be a spectator for a day.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Maybe, yeah, yeah, it could be a day or two,
depending on you know how fast people people draft in that.
But you know, I love the four our four hour
window there. So in timis the said Tim is unable
to do an NFPC draft, So you won't be doing
that because NFC does not operate in Ontario, Canada. So unfortunate,

(09:13):
Tim will not be doing that this season. But at
least he's got a so that's that's a good.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah. Yeah, I got I got one coming up, and
then I've got the next one after that. I'll have
a couple in February, it looks like, and then March.
Actually on Tuesday, I've got a Winter Suck draft in
another league, so I got lots to keep me out
of trouble. I I was just hoping you get into
a draft champions league, but the Ontario government is in

(09:42):
their lecturers self decided that it's not going to happen
this year.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Yeah, it's not probably happened. I just want to remind
everybody if you like this kind of content, you want
to support Tim and I join us at the patreons
ipatri O win dot com. Forward Slash Prospect three sixty
one to Manage is the discord site and is generally
writing a ton of contents as his all his draft
preface coming out. We'll be covering catchers in the first

(10:08):
base over the next two weeks. You'll get expanded coverage
out on the Patreon site. You get all the prospect
work for me, and I'll be doing my own draft
targets coming up as well. So lots of stuff out
there for a Patreon members. So I encourage everybody to
join us. Five bucks a month, Timmy, come on.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, I was even gonna join.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah, I copped ten, Tim, Tim is all paid.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
For and I thank you for that.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Well, you're a big contributor. It's just they still make
you pay for it. It's weird. So I actually pay
for it. Then I get the and it's like laundering money,
I think. So it's weird.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yes, if a drone is circling over your host, be
concerned rich exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
All right. So let's let's say let's we had a
bunch of trades and some signings. I think a note,
let's talk about the one that bummed us out, and
that was the one that came in late last night
where the Mariners acquired Jose Ferrara, which you know, I
think he's going to be the seventh An guy, which
is a real bummer from the Nationals for catcher Harry
Ford and Isaac Lyon. Timmy, this one hurt personally because

(11:21):
I have been a bunch of Dynasty leagues. I thanked
you profusely because you're the one that turned me on
to him. I grabbed him, got a bunch of saves
at the end of the Season's got a great arm.
But the Nationals aren't a very good team, so they said, well,
why do we need a guy that's going to be
a good closer when I can bring in a Harry Ford,
and they made the deal, and you gotta like it
for both teams. It's Ferrara is going to be a

(11:43):
good pitcher for the Mariners, and I carry Ford is great.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, Cabert Ruizo was signed I think through twenty thirty.
Not that that makes that much difference, but it puts
a bit of a damter there when it says to me,
this deal is a quality left handed arm is coveted
in Major League Baseball. That's to give up. To give

(12:09):
up a player of Harry Ford's. I believe his stature
for a good left handed arm. That defines why we
should all want to be born a southpaw. Correct.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
I think it's I You're right, you get a little
extra goose by left handed pitching. But I think if
you're a you've got a quality arm and your team controlled,
which Ferrara is. Those guys are valuable. Man, It's not
the way it used to be. Seventh eighth innen arms
are are very valued by teams now, and you just

(12:41):
saw it here with Ary Ford. I mean, that's up.
That's a lot of scratch to give up for Jose
ferrar But I think he's worth it.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Well, yeah, you're looking at a team that is going
into next year contending, and as the innings fall for
starting pitchers, which they have been doing consistently over the
past twenty by thirty years, those seventh eighth inning guys
become incredibly important. That's that's the Cleveland Guardians. Yeah. Yeah,
you simply have to have those arms if you don't

(13:11):
have the bullpen. Hey, how many games did the Dodgers'
bullpen cost them this year? Way too many, way too many.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
I mean they wind up throwing Susaki out there to
stabilize that bullpen in the playoffs, and it worked. I mean,
it took them all the way to the World Series championship.
But you know, you just need those You need those
guys that can come out and throw gas at the
end of the game.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Yeah, and it's one of the reasons personally, I've lobbied
for holds to be a component of your of your
saves category simply because of the importance of those seventh inning,
eighth inning guys in today's games. So uh, hey, it's
it's a good deal for both parties, and I wish

(13:56):
everybody will but it.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
USI Ferrara is a ground ball machine. Night average of
ninety seven point seven on a sinker ball. His sinker
ball doesn't get a ton of swing and miss, but
it's a heavy ground ball, minus five degrees on his
launch angle, which just tells you that just everybody's beating
it into the ground. And then the change up as
a forty seven percent with rate, the slider is a

(14:19):
fifty two percent. Is a great picture. Man, it's a
great arm, and he's a seven. He's the seventh inning
guy for a contending team. Really blows for fantasy managers.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Well, I did, I did my best for you, rich
and unfortunately it just didn't work out right.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah, it doesn't throw enough strikes, but you know, you
hope with over time that the I'm sorry, he does
know a ton of strikes. He's only walked. He's in
the ninety fifth percentile in terms of walk So this
guy's really good. Wow, really good.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
I think he I think he could have been good,
could have been good for thirty saves in Washington.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah, I'm still gonna hold on to him, Timmy. I
I think arm is too good. I mean it could
be me to sour grapes, but I'm holding on to him. Now.
You did bring up kber Ruiz obviously eight years, fifty
million dollars contract extension he signed in March of twenty
twenty three, so he's still signed until two thousand and thirty.
Wasn't very good last season, they said, I don't think

(15:19):
he was. It was hurt so. But Harry Ford has
got speed, can really hit a not a ton of power,
a little bit like Dalton of our show was when
he came up, kind of that sneaky speed from a
catcher position. Do we see Harry Ford? What a great name.
By the way, Do we see Harry Ford in twenty

(15:41):
twenty six?

Speaker 2 (15:44):
I think we do. I think we see him early.
And I'm looking at two hundred and fifty plus at bats.
I'm still going to be targeting Harry Ford as a
second catcher in two catchers sets.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah, I think I would do that as well. I
mean I'm looking at cabert Ruiz obviously only sixty eight
games last season, but he walked three percent of the
time last season three point three percent of the time
in twenty twenty four. He never strikes out, but he
doesn't walk is on base because he's a catcher, doesn't
hit the ball all that hard. An on base percentage
of two seventy seven two sixty three h eight. Timmy,

(16:25):
that's brutal.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah, he did not have a good year. And I
think there'll be opportunities in Washington and a ferry forward
can get in there and establish himself. That could be
one of those contracts. Hey, it's not huge money, but
it's it's money that might not have been it might
prove to be not well spent.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
I'm looking at the twenty twenty three season. Did hit
eighteen home runs, which is good, but again he walked
five and a half percent of the time and all
together a three to h eight on base percentage. I
mean that's tough, man, that is really tough.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Ye yep, I agree.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
I hope I hope Harry Ford gets a shot. I
think he's got a better shot at getting a shot
and uh in Washington that he did behind cal Riley,
So so I think that's good. I think you can
also see him move out to the outfield as well.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Yeah, I think the difference is cal Ley. Riley would
always be the number one catcher in Seattle and he
would always be catching. I think, you know, he's always
I would always play a certain number of games. In
the catcher situation, hard Ford would be a number two
there for quite a while, where I think in Washington

(17:42):
he has the opportunity to be a number one fairly quickly.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Harry Ford did play a little bit and for the
Mariners last season, so he did get a taste of it.
Do you think he breaks camp with yes? Oh wow,
that was quick.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yep, no hesitation.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah, I looked in twenty twenty five. He only played
designated hitter or catcher in two thousand. Let me see
if oh to see, just check twenty twenty four Baseball
references whether the navigation is not the best. Now he's
just played catcher, Timmy, so they haven't thrown him out. No,
a little bit of left field in twenty twenty four,

(18:23):
so there is a little bit of a precedent there
if they decide, if they decide to live with caber Ruiz,
which they might, But anyway, I love the signing for both.
I think that really unlocks Harry Ford. I'm with Tim
and it's a bummer for those of us in Dynasty
League that grabbed on the Jose Ferrera. But you know,
what are you gonna do? Tim?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I hope you all want it. I hope Jose Ferrera
won year titled last year? How was that?

Speaker 1 (18:47):
So gets who gets the save opportunities with Washington?

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Now, I'm gonna go with nobody on that. Nobody that
anybody will think that. I I just don't see. You know,
Clayton Beaters is one of the options. Okay, he's currently
I believe listed as one of the Yes.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
What about a guy we talked about on our prospect
list in Harlan Sosanna.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
There's a possibility. Uh, you're also looking at Cole Henry,
you know, roster tossing his name up. We talked about
numerous kids today. Could could be one of them. It
could be Josiah Gray if starting doesn't work out for him.
Who knows? That could be somebody that they bring in okay, uh,

(19:46):
in a in a trade another you know, starting pitcher
in their miners that they're not happy with the mix. Whatever.
Right now, I I don't have I don't have an
answer ast to who I think is a favorite to
be closing and washing it. It could be somebody from outside

(20:08):
the organization. The odds that is Beeter and Henry are
just as good as it's just I agree and Susannah,
it's we don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Well, Beter throws hard and he's got a great slider,
So I mean he's a two pitch pitcher exclusively. Yeah,
strikes that he throw last season, that's the problem. He
walked everybody.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Yeah, it's yeah, there's control. Yeah, And right now, I
don't have a definitive person that I like in Washington
or in Saves. So I I in this draft that
I'm doing starting Tuesday, I'm probably gonna avoid that whole
situation and just pick for value and look to the

(20:49):
waiver wire. Okay, once they actually name somebody or it
looks like somebody is a favorite, that's not something I'm
going to right now with the information we have. It's
not something I think I feel comfortable betting on in
early drafts. All I know is there's a lot of
people out there with Jose Ferrera that already rostered on

(21:10):
their team that aren't happy today.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
That would be me, so, but I've quickly I don't
worry about that stuff anymore. To me, I get upset
and it's like, okay, I'm moving on. I mean, way
the way it goes. Had another We had another trade
of really interesting trade in the Red Sex acquired Johan
Ovita from the Pittsburgh Pirates, and they sent the password
you hints and Garcia back. What did you think of

(21:37):
this deal? I wrote a thousand words to our patron members,
so I know what I think, but I'm more curious
as to what you think.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Well, the first thing, the first thing I thought was
why Okay, but and it just it was sort of like, oh, well,
you know one of those deals.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
What do you mean why you don't think that you
don't get it for either team? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:59):
I get it for the Pirates, I guess I just
didn't really get it for the for the Red Sox.
But the more I sort of looked at it, you
can never have enough starting pitching. I do hate the
trade simply because Garcia looks like he might have a
job for breaking camp and I'm never gonna spell his name, right, Okay,

(22:21):
that's that's the impossibility. Yeah, yeah, just put password. Yeah
that's your right. Yeah, it's interesting in from both sides. Okay,
I think Garcia's got a pathway to playing time.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Now.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Ovied Ovida can slide into potentially a role in Boston,
even though it's crowded. But we all know you can
never have enough starting pitching. So the more I looked
at it, the more sense it made. But other than
Garcia has a late pick, it doesn't really do anything

(22:56):
for me from a fantasy point of view right now.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
So you're not high on Garcia coming into the season
at Big Boy Power. Can hit a little bit, yeah,
modest speed, but uh, you don't look upon him as
a potential guy you draft.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
I think he's now draftable because it looks like he's
got an opportunity at a job as a late as
a late dart toss. Yeah, I hey, why not uh
Ovida Olvito. He's going to be somebody that will get
mentioned on the waiver wire because you start looking at
Boston and you got Crochet, and you got Suddy Gray

(23:35):
and Balo, maybe Crawford and Sandibal, and then you go
down to the kids and you got totally Connelly early
and there's a lot of there's a lot of names
there that I think are going to get a shot
before uh oh Viedo will we'll get a shot. So

(23:56):
I think I think he'll get a mentioned come waiver
wire time when he slides into an injury replacement role.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
I kind of like OVI Eightoh, I thought that the
stuff looks better than I thought when I did the analysis.
It's really swing and miss stuff there doesn't always throw strikes,
but the Red Sox have had a really good track
record of getting guys to throw strikes. More so, he's
the guy that I think might be a little bit
more sneaky of an ad. You know, he was going

(24:27):
as a six or seven starter off the board. I
might goose him up a bit. That's just me, though.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah. No, if in a draft and hold yes in
a redraft, No, if that makes sense, Yeah it does.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
I mean I get that he might not be draftable
and a draft and just a traditional draft, So I
definitely get get what you're saying there.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Interesting though I surely wasn't something I was expecting.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Yeah, I didn't get it at all. I mean I
it's like, Wow, the password and he's the more famous
of the two. You know, It's funny. Wasn't he even
the major league guy that got all the talk? It was,
you know, I think partially because he's got a funny name.
Uh so the password was the guy that got all
the get all the talk, you know on the discussion boards.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, I will say I have had ob eight oh
roster on a Dynasty team in the past.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Well, I do you have now?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I hope not.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
No, what did the what did the discord site have
to say?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
The Discord site the the one comment, the one gentleman,
uh basically say he doesn't think the closers on the
roster right now? Okay, okay, and I certainly can't Uh,
I certainly can't disagree with that.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Well what what? What did they think about Garcia going
to Pitt's going to Pittsburgh though.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Oh, let me see here, I don't even know if
we've discussed that. I'll have to just scan through and
take a look. Okay.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
There was discussion about a Millia pig on and it's
two years of twenty million to the Reds, shattering my
Tony's tea and dreams. Yes, but I'm not for.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
I don't think that's gonna work. But that's that's that's.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yeah, the same opinion I'm holding onto. I'm holding on
to Tony and see see what see what's gonna happen? Uh. Again,
the only comment I had is I gotta I gotta
take a deep look. And I still have to take it,
take a deep look, but I just don't see anything
that really really jumps out at me. Like I said,

(26:55):
the consensus, somebody mentioned Finnigan again, who knows.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Sign Yeah, all right, so let's move on to me.
So the Ray sign Cedric Mullins to a one year deal.
He's gonna play full time?

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Is not with the Rays?

Speaker 1 (27:08):
And I mean he's got huge splits and the Rays
are so metric focused. I don't know it is adp
is twenty third round, seventy ninth outfit off the board.
Is that too high too? Tell me what you think
about Cedric Mullins coming into this season.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
I think that it's I think it's a bit low. Okay.
If you look at his twenty twenty five years old
so okay, seventeen homers, twenty two stolen bases, okay. As
a seventy ninth outfielder, you're looking at basically a fifth

(27:45):
outfielder or a bench rule. I think I can look
at I think I can look at Cedric Mullins as
a fourth outfielder type, definitely fifth. So I might move
him up a little little bit now that he's signing,
because I think he's going to get four hundred and
fifty plus at bats in and if you can get

(28:08):
fifteen home runs and twenty stolen bases, that seems that
seems okay as a fourth oat fielder to me based
on what I'm looking at early on.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
So the four hundred and fifty at bats, then you
you don't think he's going to be a platoon guy,
or you do. And that's where the four to fifties
coming from. As opposed to the five hundred to five fifty.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
There could be a platoon situation. So I went a
little bit lower. But the four hundred and fifty should
be able to do fifteen homers twenty stolen bases with
a low batting average, probably better than playing both sides
of the dish. Yeah, I have as a fourth outfielder.
I'm okay with Cedric Mowens.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Okay, yeah, I mean I've always thought that late. Yeah,
I mean, yeah, he has gone a little later than
I thought. But maybe people were looking at him as
a platoon guy, and I think it just solidifies it
because this is what the Rays do, right, They platoon
guys for sure. You know this, You would think that's
what the Rays are going to do here.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Finally, the last I got two other ones. The Angel
signed a one year deal. I mean, I thought he
was done. Tommy, I don't know about you. Do you
have any thoughts on Alec Manoa? Uh?

Speaker 2 (29:27):
I think it's going to be an end season dark
toss at best in advance of now. I just don't.
I don't see. There's lots of guys you can speculate on. Okay,
I got there's a couple in Miami that are definitely
ahead of the list. If he gets off to a
good start, he'll be a waver wear sort of thing.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
But no, I'm yeah, he's an afterthought and in drafting
whole leagues at the moment. Maybe he'll get a little
goose now that he's been signed. I don't know, but
I'm I'm I'm not interested at all. I've been burned
too many times talking about Alec Manoa. The final thing is,
I'm going to turn this one over to you. The
Blue Jay signed Cody Ponce, who had a pretty nice

(30:10):
KBO career last couple three years, and he signed him
to a three year deal. So it wasn't for chump change.
Send me their signed up for three years. Tell us
about Cody Ponce. You didn't mention him last week, just
in passing, he says something to the effect I forgot
what we were talking about, and he's like, I'm not
going to be dealing with this. I'll be looking at

(30:30):
the Cody Ponce type of thing later in drafts or
in something that was your comment. So why don't you,
why don't you clue us in now to the Cody
Ponce world.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Okay, Cody Punce, I'm going to give you the Eric
Fetti speech from two years ago. Okay, Cody Ponce is
not the same that you're coming back as he was
when he left. He's a big kid. I didn't realize
how big he was, but he's six six, two fifty three.
Last year in Korea, he won the MVP seventeen and

(31:01):
one point through one hundred and eighty and two Thursy
innings with two hundred and fifty two strikeouts following only
forty one walks, and posted a one eighty nine ERA.
His fastball velocity is supposedly up a tick or two.

(31:21):
I don't know what it was when he left, but
he's hitting ninety seven now, so.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
When he left it was ninety three point two.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Okay. Yeah, he's consistently working in the mid nineties at
a high high end of ninety seven. The new pitch
added was a splitter, and it is a plus splitter.
He threw up more than any other secondary pitch. The

(31:52):
strikeout percentage was better than any of the other pitchers
who have come back from the CAVEO. I think can
numbers speak for themselves, but I think the the increased
velocity and the shape changes on that fastball, combined with
a ninety grade splitter, I'm looking forward to seeing what

(32:13):
he can do in Toronto and I think he's going
to be a good solid number four, possibly even his
highest number three starters. So I think the Jays did
well on a three year deal. Now granted he is
the other side of thirty. You know, three years makes sense.
I wouldn't have certainly wouldn't have gone any longer than that.
But obviously the Jays like this. I've looked at enough tape.

(32:37):
It's impressive, very impressive.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
I think. I think the couple keys here are one.
It's not the same guy who was when he was
the Pirates, right, So this is a guy. No, he
went to Asia, got better, throwing harder. I mean, it
does happen to me. In better conditioning and whatever. I
think the Eric Fetty kind of comparison, not the picture,
but just the situation I think is well said. So

(33:02):
he's a guy that I'm curious of, even though he
did play in Korea, and I have a tendency to
zero point zero those guys, which I did as you
were talking, But I mean, it's it's I do find
him very curious. In essence, he didn't cost the Blue
Jays too much. I mean, thirty million dollars over three years.

(33:22):
It's ten million a year. I don't know if it's
back or front loaded or anything, but that's still pretty modest.
And then finally, the fun part of this story, if
I understand correctly, he was back for the holidays, just
I think going to Thanksgiving with his parents or something,
and his agent called up and said, Hey, there's some
major League teams that are interested. You want to go

(33:44):
around talking to him? And he said sure, and that's
how he got signed. He wasn't even it wasn't even
on his radar to me at the end of the season,
and he was just gonna go back to Korea and
pitch again, and all of a sudden, Major League Baseball
came a call, which I think that's a pretty cool story.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Yeah, it is. And he had a couple of really
big games in there with the strikeout totals. I believe
one game he Brokeunjin Ruse record team record with nineteen strikeouts. Again,
I've looked at some I've looked at some tape and
there there's no way if he was pitching the way

(34:22):
that I saw on the tape, if he was pitching out,
he certainly wouldn't have been He wouldn't have been heading
off to Korea if somebody would have had him signed
three years ago. And I mean, I'm excited to see
what he can do. I think it's a good move
by the Jays, especially going in early. They got Cease,
They've added ponts, They've got season ponts for the next

(34:45):
three plus years. Okay, Hey, Ghostsman's in the last year
of his deal, and I think now that Jay's got
to go find themselves a bullpen arm and I think
they'll be good to go. I'm just glad to see
that they're not sitting back after last year and saying, yeah,
well that's good enough. They're they're looking at bettering their

(35:06):
squad and they're doing it early in the season, which
I think is to their advantage.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
The thing I like about Ponce is this is a
kid that obviously is throwing harder, but more importantly, he
did not have the pitch to get gloveside batters out.
And people that you know, listen to me bloviate about stuff.
I mean, this is just what I talk about. I mean,
you got to have three different pitches. You've got to
have something that gets each side out. And when he
goes in and improves this change up when you're this case,

(35:35):
changes it to a splitter. I mean, and all of
a sudden, now he can neutralize the glove side battery.
It's a big deal. It's a massive change, and that
takes them from a kid that doesn't have a career
to a kid that has a career and then comes
in and maybe he's the number four starter. I think
there's something there.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
Yeah, I know, that's splitter of his. It dives into
the dirt. It's impressive, rich, it really is. And I
think it's going to give major league hitters. I think
it's going to give me fits because early, at least early, yeah,
early on.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
I would think, Yeah, I mean just like Eric Fatty.
Eric Fatty got figured out, so it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Yeah, he had the good first year coming over the
change to his pitch mix and the work that he did. Yeah,
the second year not so much. But the first year
Vetty looked like a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Take a break, Timmy, come back and let's do some
fantasy questions of the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Rays and sound good.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
For segment was a little bit longer, so we'll try
to speed it up here. Timmy just talking New York
Yankees and obviously gets up about the Yankees. I think
I had eight questions at one point and finally scaled
him back.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
First question.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
First question is easy, Jason to mean, guess at bat's hormone,
stolen bases and batting average.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Okay, the first number I give you will tell the tale.
Three hundred and fifty at bats.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Okay, stop hold for a second. Is that because he's
going to be a platoon guy or is that because
he's going to go back to the minor.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Leagues at some point in time. I think he will
be replaced on an interim basis by Spencer Jones, who
is questioned.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
For fascinating So give me you home runs.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Fourteen nineteen stolen bases and a to forty batting average.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Interesting, he is going as a forty fifth outfitter off
the board. That's too high.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
Based on what you just told me, I think there's
gonna be problems. And I think it all breaks down
to something you've been discussing for a while now and
emphasizing the splits, okay, And I think at some point
in time he'll go into a slump and they'll bring
up Spencer Jones and they'll give him a couple hundred
at bats and he'll do the same thing that Jason

(37:59):
Domingo does, and Di Mngos will be back and it'll
be a mess all year. Wow. Sorry, I am. I
can't be more optimistic about the situation, but I'm just
not right now. Veus cannot hit lefties is as simple
as that. Nice.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
I was talking if the fly last night without my
data in front of me. It did a New York
Yankees Prospect podcast, and I said it was a two
forty slug, which it wasn't that bad. It was a
two ninety slug timmy against left in at pitching, four
twenty against right in a pitching which is just fine.
It's just not getting it done, just not getting it done.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
I think there's going to be problems off and on
for the whole year between him and Jones and that
mix and who's picking up the pieces, and yeah, I
think there'll be flux in that oatfield hose that.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
It could very well be. They could also just bring
in something they might know this kind of going into
the season. The Yankees are not a dumb organization. I
know they spend they they spend money poorly, but they're
they understand the map than what's going on with these players.
And I wouldn't be surprised if they're already concerned about
enough to bring in a solution there for Jason Domingoz.

(39:09):
But we'll see Timmy. This is just me studying the
data and I just I just don't get it. Few
players hit the ball harder than Ryan McMahon. Ninety three
point three mile an hour average eggs of velocity is
top ten percent of the league. He's got good loss.
I think it was thirteen and a half degrees, which
is good. He walks a ton, he strikes out a ton,

(39:31):
so it is a classic three true outcome player. However,
he only hit twenty home runs last season. I think
he hit twenty home runs a year before last eight
and fifty four games after being traded, So I mean
there could be some opportunities in Yankee Stadium. I think
the dream is over. It is the demand question. Is
the dream over for twenty five to thirty home runs

(39:53):
or couldn't happen in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
It could happen, but betting on twenty to twenty five
home runs seems like a safer bed to me.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
He's a thirty four to third basement off the board.
Three seventy, am I crazy? Is there a draft and
hold value there?

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I believe there is. His ADP is like you said
three seventy. I think he can easily do twenty seventy
with a reasonably poor batting average. When you start looking
at the thirty fourth third basement off the board, that
holds value. That works late in any format. So I
guess as hard it is as it is to believe.

(40:31):
I'm actually bullish on Ryan McMahon. At is current at
his current spot of thirty fourth off the board.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
I am as well. That's why I said I'm crazy.
I mean it's I'm looking at this right now. It's
going thirty four third basement off there. He's a great defender,
so he's going to have the job, and he hits
the ball hard, he's going to hit home runs. I
mean he's left handed, right, so is he a left
handed let's take a look.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
I can't remember. All I know is I'm willing to bet.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Left handed bat in Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Come on, yeah, I'm willing to bet you that of
currently he's going thirty fourth. I'm I'm prepared and believe
that on all thirty of the Major League there will
be more. There will be players at third base or
that position that will not hit thirty home that will
not hit twenty home runs and drive in seventy. So

(41:30):
I think he's got a come He should come up
because I think he'll just do better than some of
the some of the other picks that are currently going
ahead of him at that position.

Speaker 1 (41:39):
All right, let's start to make let's discuss some of them.
Your buddy Kazimu Okamoto is going thirty three. Who would
you rather have, Ryan McMahon or Kazumu Okamoto.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Well you know the answer there, Okamo. All right, that's
number thirty two.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Josh Smith or Ryan McMahon, McMahon, Connor norby your buddy
thirty one McMahon, Zach McKinstry at thirty he's not even
having jack Man. Yeah, here's an interesting one. Josh Young,
Josh Young, that's a right, your kid. Yeah, I'll take

(42:19):
I'll take boring, yeah, Josh youngest everybody able to stay healthy.
Here's an interesting one. Jordan Loller at third base. Only
elder is about third base, by the way, you got
to go McMahon there, right.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
Yeah, I'm safe. Pick Yeah, unless you've already short up
third base, then you want to toss a dart. But
tossing a dart versus stability in a draft and hold.
You got lots of room to toss darts after pick
thirty five, don't you.

Speaker 1 (42:47):
Yeah, now it starts to get a little interesting. Ernie
Clement Colt, Keith Brooksley, Miguel Vargas, Carlos Kray at twenty three.
I'm assuming you take all those guys above, Ryan McMahon, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
I have to take a closer look. But none of them,
none of them throw me rich. Yeah, it's yeah, they're
not jumping off the page. What's Carlos career done? In
the past five years. Not a whole lot exactly.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
Yeah, he really, we really kind of petered out, didn't he. Yeah,
let's take a look at Carlos Carrea here. Thirteen home
runs last season in one hundred and forty four games,
fourteen home runs in twenty twenty four in eighty six games,
eighteen home runs in twenty twenty three, twenty two home

(43:40):
runs in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
I'll take big man and a little batting average.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
He hasn't stolen a base since twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Yeah, he's started off with a bang. I think he's
sole fourteen or sixteen in his first year, and the
sum total of all the rest of his years in
Major League baseball he hasn't equaled the one year.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
Don't believe Well, twenty sixteen he sold thirteen. But yes,
after that, after twenty sixteen he stole. He stole six
bases in the last eight years.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
Yeah, betting on a twenty twenty campaign sounds like a
long shot to be.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
I mean, he can still hit, I mean, you know,
but it's funny. Doesn't hit the ball as hard anymore,
but I mean it makes good contact to good on
base percentage. Guy, I mean so there's some value there,
but I think Ryan McMahon could be a little bit
more interesting. Maybe not going to be the batting average,
but an one base percentage league, I would definitely take
rhyming Man. Ever, Carlos Korea no brainer for me. Good stuff, Timmy.

(44:40):
Let's move on to Anthony Volpi starts the season of
the alf having soldiers shoulder shirt shoulder surgery. Easy enough
for you to say, there's been a ton of rumors
surrounding his long term role in New York. Is he
worth a gambling draft? And holy he's the twenty ninth
short stup off the board.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
It's a pass for me, even if you can get
him late like his current ADB. And the reason it's
the pass for me is because I'll have my short
stop in middle infield covered. Okay, So if I'm looking
for a depth stash, when I look at Anthony Volpe,
who is not going to start the season probably, or

(45:23):
go with a Josh Smith or an Aiden Miller or
even a Joey Ortiz much later, I can't see spending
on a third, you know, middle infielder when I can
go later and either toss a dart or find stabilities
so you know, in a re draft league, the fact

(45:46):
you can stash him on your I l until help.
But again it's tying up a roster spot. And again,
how are the Yankees going to deal with that vacancy
while he's out for how long? And it's an injured
player starting year. I'm just staying totally away from Anthony Bolvin.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
I agree. What about a buyer seller in dynasty leagues?
I think that's a more important question.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
If I could find somebody willing to give me seventy
cents on the dollar, we'd have a done deal.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
Yeah, it's hard to disagree with you on that. It's
hard to disagree, Timmy.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
Yeah, I just don't. I just don't see it, especially
with the defensive liabilities.

Speaker 1 (46:29):
I always thought he'd be a second basement and not
a shortstop. And I know he got off to a
really nice season and his debut and he's a homegrown
guy and New Jersey kid, blah blah blah blah, all
the stuff that you like.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
It's just been tough, Timmy, it has been tough.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
I agree, all right, Timmy. I don't know about this
next one. I did my Yankees minor leaguers and when
you and I talk about the Yankees minor league system in.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
A couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
I don't know what to think of Spencer Jones anymore.
I've seen him at least one hundred at bats, maybe
two hundred of bats. I think I know who the
player is, and I'm very confused that who he's going
to be as a major leaguer. Stat line for twenty
twenty six at bats, home run, stolen bases, batting average,
and strikeouts.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
Okay, I've got two hundred and fifty at bats, wow. Okay,
eleven homers, fifteen stolen bases, wow. Okay, okay, uh two
forty five batting average okay, and more than one hundred stracos.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
Well, that's not a bad player.

Speaker 2 (47:46):
It's not. But it's the same player as Jason Domingez,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (47:52):
Well wait a minute, if I double the at bats,
I'm looking at a twenty thirty guy.

Speaker 2 (47:58):
Yeah, and if you double eight bats, I'll drop the
batting average down to two fifteen, two twenty Okay.

Speaker 1 (48:05):
Yeah, Look, this guy's got massive power. I've seen it.
He's faster than you think. I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (48:11):
But Timmy, Yeah, well, I I can't explain it. It
looks like he's swinging in slow motion. His swing is
so long. It takes so long for him to come around.
I don't know how he. I don't know how he.
I don't know how he hits for power. I really don't.
I mean, it's like he's got to start to swing

(48:32):
so early because it's so long, and that's why he
swings and misses so much. So he guesses right, the
ball can go eight hundred feet, but he guesses wrong
so many times. And I just think major league pictures
are going to carve him up.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
Yeah, and you know, when you don't use a stopwatch,
you go one to one hundred to one hundred, okay,
to count the timing on the swing. That's not good, Rich, No,
I agree.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
It's funny because I bet you when we get the data,
his batspeed's gonna pretty good. It's just it's so long.
It it the visual the illusion that it's, oh my god,
it's taken him forever to get to the zone and
it just yeah and it just swing strike one strike
too and he's done. It's just it's tough to watch,
and it's it's a shame because the guy is an

(49:18):
incredible athlete.

Speaker 2 (49:19):
And I don't know, man, I think that long range,
I don't think Jason Domingus and Spencer Jones. I think
both of them, I'll say, two years down the road,
I don't think both of them will be with the
New York Yankees. I think they'll have moved on from both.

Speaker 1 (49:38):
Yeah, I don't know, man, I.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
Just gut my gut feet feeling right.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
I think you could be right. I mean again, I
go back to Jones and and I look that, as
I said yesterday, in my pocket, I repeat myself that
this could be a first round draft pick. This guy
has monster potential. And my argument there is he hits
the ball so hard because he's strong, he could drive

(50:06):
a three forty Babbitt and that two fifteen legitimate batting
average could turn into two fifty two sixty. And he's
a superstar because he's gonna hit thirty forty home runs
and steal twenty bases. He's got that kind of potential.
But a little miss there and a little miss there,
and all of a sudden, it is a two hundred
batting average, if not worse, and then it's brutal tim.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
Yeah, Spencer Drones will have an MVP season in the
big leagues. It'll be in either Japan or Korea.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
Okay, And then that's what Tim's all in.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
Then I'm all in when he comes back because he
made changes.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
Rich Cam Schlittler is being drafted as the forty ninth
pitcher off the board thirty six starters. So people, timmy
are buying in big time? Are you buying in? Ah?

Speaker 2 (50:56):
It is a total pass for me, okay. And I'll
explain why the walk rate seemed a bit high. It's
allowed a bit low, which isn't a real biggie for
me because it's sort of equalized. They both seemed a
little of the sainc but nothing major. What concerns me
a bit more is that of his fourteen starts last year,

(51:18):
only four were against playoff teams. Okay. Two of those
starts came against Jays, including his worst start of the
season where he allowed four and runs in one and
two thirds innings, And the other two playoff teams he
faced one each were Seattle in Detroit. He faced Baltimore,

(51:40):
Minnesota and Tampa Bay twice. Add to that the White Sox,
the Nationals and Houston once each. And there's another team
in there. None of them are exactly offensive juggernauts. You're
right now you're looking at You're looking at number thirty
six off the board. You're looking at a strong number three, okay,

(52:04):
and a really solid number four. But right now you're
looking at a strong number three. Drafting him as the
thirty sixth off the board. No, it's too much for me.
I think there could be problems. And I'm again I'm
basing it on the team's face last year.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
That's that's great work to me. I did not dig
into that level of detail. That's that's fascinating in terms
of his who he faced. Look, I like the picture
reminds me a little bit of Bryce Miller. He doesn't
doesn't have a pitch that gets glove side batters up at.
His fastball is really good. Yeah, but I'm telling you,
I don't just like I don't just like him. I
just don't want to pay that price for him. I

(52:42):
totally agree with you. I mean, I like the pitcher.
If I'm in a Donasy league and I'm dancing to jig.
But that's an old that's an old fashioned saying, isn't
it so?

Speaker 2 (52:51):
But it is.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
I'm excited but if I'm sitting up at the draft table,
I gotta I gotta put him as my number three starter,
and he might be number two starter in some leagues
where I wait on pitching for a while. I don't
know that scares me.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
Yeah, as it does me. I want to see. I
want to see another year and see how he does
when he's when he's facing the Dodgers twice, when he's
facing yeah, of the Jays. He did last year, and
he had trouble against some when he's facing the Jays, Yeah,
the Braves. You know, I like to see a few
more victories and a few more good performances against better

(53:29):
clubs for me to be investing in.

Speaker 1 (53:32):
Give me a sleeper in the organization, minor and majors.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
I got two. I'll be real happy with Austin Wells
as my second catcher. Okay, I think he's a solid catcher.
I think you know, you're looking at twenty seventy potentials.
So Austin Wells I like, and I'm not ready to
give up quite yet on the one hundred and seventy
one strikeouts that will war and accumulated last year. His

(53:59):
ADP is three thirty, which she's she's going basically the
twentieth round as a late number five six type starter.
Like I said, I'm not ready to give up on
Will Warren quite yet.

Speaker 1 (54:14):
It's a good call. I have I have one. Okay,
e Erc, Elmer Rodriguez, Cruz all in, all in on
e Erc. We see him.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
Oh by June, Okay, cool, I'll have to do. I'll
have to do some digging.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
Oh my, he's my guy, he's the uh. I saw
him and Jonah Thong go up on two start weeks
when the Mets came to visit the Yankees in Somerset.
Jonahtong looked great. Arc wiped them both times. Better stuff,
better control, better everything.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
He was great.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
Oh so, I'm a big fan of your Tim, Tim.
You do your digging. He was signed as a Red Sox.
The Red Sox and Yankees did a very minor trade
Nirvares Carlos Nevares for e Erc. Everybody thought that the
Red Sox got the better deal because Navarus is pretty
good last season. Yeah, ear C is really good. So

(55:21):
that's my guy promoting him any shot I get. Let's
see where he is going in drafts. Maybe it's not
I being drafted. Let's take a look elmerus Come, come on, Elmer,
what a name? Right? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (55:34):
What's his last name? Cruise?

Speaker 1 (55:37):
That's where he goes e erc.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
Yeah, I can see why.

Speaker 1 (55:41):
Ear C is going five thirty six. So people are
a little bit on Elmer Cruz at the moment. Okay,
all right to me to take a break. Come back
in my favorite questions, this is our eighteenth team that
we've talked about. Nineteenth team coming up with the Tampa
Bay Rays. My absolute favorite question, so wait for it.

(56:14):
But this one, I didn't want to do two overrunders,
so I decided to combine him into a combo question.
My favorite question so far. I've asked him what is
more likely Chandler Simpson steals seventy five bases or Junior
Camonaro hits fifty home runs?

Speaker 2 (56:32):
Okay, I'm going with Junior Camanaro hitting fifty home runs. Okay,
And here's here's my logical explanation. He made it to
forty five last year. Okay, let's five more homers between
friends five? Yeah, you should have.

Speaker 1 (56:48):
Tailor Simpson hit stole how many bases?

Speaker 2 (56:51):
Though he would need thirty one more thefts to get
to seventy five after last year.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
But he only could off the season.

Speaker 2 (56:59):
Yeah, he could, but that's that's a big that's a
big number. And Camon Arrow is a lock to get
in a full season of a bat's burying injury. Can
we say the same thing? Should Chandler Simpsons struggle in
Tampa Bay? And I don't think? Yeah, so I gotta
go with cam and Arrow. That's that's Chandler Simpson got.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
He got sent back to the minor leagues for a while.
Everybody don't don't forget about that.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
Yeah, I I think I think Junior Camanaro. I think
the odds are are decent. He's gonna hit fifty home runs.
That's a big bat, it really is.

Speaker 1 (57:33):
So for one hundred and nine games Simpsons stole forty
four in one hundred and ten games in twenty twenty
four in the minor leagues. Who stole one hundred and four?

Speaker 2 (57:45):
Yeah, so yeah, I don't think he's gonna get Well,
his walks and hits add up to him. You can't
steal first.

Speaker 1 (57:53):
I think it's I did just think it's a sucker.
We've talked about that as no way where he's going, No,
thank you. Yeah, yeah, I wish him all the best
I drafted in my drafting whole league. Thank you very much.
I feel like I got a huge win. I'm done,
I'm tapped out. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
If you if you're drafting at the if you're drafting
at the corner, okay, are you taking Junior Caminaro if
he's available.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
I think the fifty home runs, it could be sixty
home runs a guy. That guy hits the ball really hard.
I mean, that's that's good looking at batting average league gets.
I mean, excuse me, one base percenters league. He's not
gonna he's it's it's low one base percentage, doesn't walk
very much, but he does me good contacts. So it
could be like a two sixty guy with fifty fifty
five home runs and one hundred and twenty RBIs. I mean,

(58:44):
I'm gonna have to get my sole basis somewhere else, though,
So I I want Fernando Tatis and Kyle Tucker at
the at the wheel. That's where I want him. I
think I'm going to buy. I think I'm going to
pass on Junior Cameron Era just because I'm with Tim.

(59:05):
I want more multi categories, and I just think I
can wait. If I want big home runs, I'll take
Kyle Schwarber seven eight ten picks later or maybe.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Glad Junior Ryan McMahon is going to be there for
me later on.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
That's true, that's true. Yeah, I mean, I gotta make
up the twenty home run somewhere. But if I can
get I can get Kyle Tucker thirty twenty or twenty
thirty or something like that. I think I'll do that,
Okay to me. Stat line for twenty twenty six Jonathan
Aromda at bats, home running, batting average. No, what is
talking about? This guy?

Speaker 2 (59:43):
H five hundred bats, twenty two home runs, a two
seventy five batting average.

Speaker 1 (59:49):
That's not horrible.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
No, no, it's not horrible. Going as the fifteenth first
basement off the board. The big question I have is
when you look at the batting average, you look at
some of the numbers. His babbitt last year was four
to oh nine. Can that be duplicated? So I have
downshifted a bit on batting average. I'll probably take the

(01:00:14):
batting average hit and yamble on a corner infielder later
than the twelfth round, which is where he's going right now.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
Yeah, it's tough.

Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
I mean, but I mean sorry, I'll go with the
I'll go with a corner in later than the twelfth.

Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
Yeah sorry, okay, yeah, I got that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
Let's take a look at what the data says. And
Jonathan Ronda hits the ball really hard. Average ex velosity
ninety three miles an hour woo doggies uh so. Expected
batting average is two ninety four. Strikeout rate is high
but not awful at twenty five percent. I don't know,
samm you can really hit a fastball.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Okay, see as hell, you're on baseball Savan. Okay on
that's a not too Yeah. Click on yanyu kick, click
on uh Diaz in Tampa Bay, Yandy Diaz. Yeah, take
a look at it. Take a look at his baby.

Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
Yeah yeah, it's the same thing. He hits the ball really,
really hard. He has so look at his launch angles.
To me, that's the key. He hits everything on the ground.
I mean, he is a he is a just a
flat swing. And I've talked about this that nauseam. He
had twenty five home runs last year and pretty much
muscled everything out. Imagine if he were just put a
little launch and this guy could be a forty to

(01:01:36):
fifty home run guy.

Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
Yeah, is Jonathan Randa the same as Yandy Diaz? Are
they the same player?

Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Well, Jonathan Ronda has a fourteen and a half percent
launch angle, so he has more natural loss, So there
is potentially more home run in him just because he
he has more launching a swing. So I'm I think
I think Jonathan Ronic could be a twenty five thirty

(01:02:08):
home run guy. I don't know Timmy, I I like
him late as my first baseman, just saying.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Okay, so yeah, I'm just I'm just not all sold
on Randa yet. I still have that Tampa. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
I get it, I get it, I get it. He's
he's really under the radar, and I just wanted to
put on everybody's radar if you will, and look look
at you know, Mike cal Garcia. I mean I kept preaching,
just put a little launch in his swing, and he
started to add a little bit lauching. I mean, the
launch angle's really really important when you have none has none.

Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Zero.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Yeah, we've seen his arms. I mean they're tree trunks.
I mean, this is a really strong kid that hits
the ball really hard. If somebody would just sit down
I'm sure the Rays have and he's just said no,
he wants to make good contact to keep a high
batting him. But man, if I was his agent, I'd
be gone, dude, just add a little launch and get
up the forty five home runs and we're gold Man,

(01:03:07):
We're You're You're the next Kyle Schwarmer.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
We're talking a big five year contract.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
You're talking big money, and I mean, I don't know.
I mean, this is exactly what agents talk to their
players about because they use guys like me, going, look,
this is what the data says. Change change your approach,
and I don't know, We'll see Carson Williams, Timmy, this
is when I have in my notes and when I
evoke Sam Hilliard. You know where this is going. Carson

(01:03:36):
Williams twenty three home runs, stole twenty two bases in
the minor league, but struck out a third of the
time At two thirteen, one hundred and six plate appearances
in the major leagues. Yes, very small sample size. He
hit one seventy two with a forty one percent striker right,
but he hit five or runs and two stolen bases.
Is he a full time regular at some point? Or
is this the next Sam Hilliard who just signed with

(01:03:58):
the KBO.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
I think odds are such that he could very well
be the next Sam Hillary. I don't know if the
Raids are going to give him a full time shot.
And if he doesn't have that full time shot, where's
he going to get it. It's got to be asia right.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Well, he is a very very good defender at shortstop,
a plus defender, so they might live with the contact problems.
Tell you it's bad, man, it's really The contact rates
are really rough.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
Yeah, that they are. I'm avoiding that situation until he
gets a call up. Okay, as a waiver wire add
in season. I would find it intriguing. But there are
options in a redraft league that I would prefer. Now, hey,
in a draft and hold yeah, yeah, pick him up,

(01:04:55):
toss a dart, see what happens.

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
But four his ADP everyone and so that is so
it'll be twenty eight, twenty ninth round something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Yeah, it's yeah, it's it's later on. And if I'm
looking at upside a shortstop, you know, there's a lot
of guys, there's a lot of shortstops out there that
I can stash that I feel more comfortable with than
Carson Williams.

Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Yeah, this is just I mean, we talked about Spencer Jones, Carson.
These are really tough guys because boy, they've got loud tools.
But it's just worry if they're going to hit, and
particularly with the rays. The rays, I mean, yeah, we've
seen it.

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
With they don't tolerate. Yeah, they don't tolerate. They don't.
They won't tolerate a one e five batting average for
very long.

Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
That's unless you get unless you high one based percentage skills.
And I don't know, Timmy. They've changed their acquisition strategy.
They go for toolsy guys now, but we'll see once
they get up to the big leagues. I don't think
the big league manager has changed, so we'll have to
see how that plays out. Shame Boss. Timmy was a
hot prospect, looked really good. Look down for time me
John Surgery. He is the eighty third pitcher off the board,

(01:06:03):
sixty fourth starter, fifteenth round. Let me give you a
couple of stats and I want you to tell me
if you have interest. His era last season was a
woe for forty seven, so that's why he's going so late.
But his expected ray was three eighty five. He has
four really good pitches, all above a twenty five percent
with rate, but nothing that breaches thirty percent. So, in
other words, fastball is twenty four percent, strikeout rate change

(01:06:26):
up twenty twenty twenty six percent. It's it's something like that,
but he doesn't have any That one pitch it just
gets everybody out. Having said all that, do you have interest.

Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
At his current price? I believe it's somewhere around the
fifteenth round. I think the upside is warranting of a
gamble on chainbaws. I would draft him as a as
a number five starter, Yeah, and hope and hope for
the best that that era comes down even even to
the four level. Then all of a sudden you're finding

(01:07:00):
yourself value or the shame boss. So yeah again, sixty
four starter, Dean teams four. He's he's a number five starter. Yeah,
I'm willing to I'm willing to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:07:15):
Good got it? Lockdown, Timmy? Which closure you're in? Which
closers are you in? Which closers are you investing? In?
Early drafts for the Rays?

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
Well, right now they get there's there's three three guys
listed as cool closers Jax Clevenger and Edwin USDA. I'm
going with Edwin USDA. Uh, simply because that one hundred
and three strikeouts and only seventy six innings. That holds

(01:07:45):
value even if the saves aren't there.

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
Okay, nine for Jacks was even better though.

Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Yeah, and I know winds are random, but take a
look at you. You say I have found himself in
the situation we managed to snake ten wins. Okay, Jacks
found himself in a situation where he won one game
and lost. And I know, I know it's random, but
I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the strikeout great to

(01:08:16):
Louis ra from USETA, and mainly in my case, I
have in leagues that use holes, the count holes, so
I just think right now, he's a better pitcher who
eventually ends up with the job. It could be one
of those three guys. So, uh, it's not a heavy
investment unless you're playing in leagues account holds.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Yeah, I've got one, one o three strikeouts from YUCDA
and ninety nine from Griffin Jackson. They're both strikeout machines, right,
so I mean it's hard to say who's got more.
I mean, I mean that again, Jackson's got the higher
strikeout panning than you see it just got a handful

(01:09:00):
more a half home more. So Yeah, okay, it's yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
I'm not going to spend a bundle on the raised
closer situation, that's.

Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
For sure, because it'll probably be a nightmare of the
whole season. But then again, I mean before Pete, before
they decided to give up on Peter Fairbanks, he was
he had a good run though.

Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
Yeah, he'd look Fairbanks had look awful good in Toronto,
wouldn't he.

Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
Yeah, he's still out there. I don't understand why they
didn't trade him. I don't get that.

Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
Well, yeah they Yeah, I don't get it either, I
really don't. You would think somebody would pay something early
in the season to shore up their bullpen. Ye, but
there must have been a reason somewhere, Timmy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
Give me a sleep in the organization minor or majors.

Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
No, it's not. It's trade Morgan. If he gets a call,
I like to hit too him.

Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
T r e apost Morgan that wow. Yeah, yeah, the
guy can really hit. There's a little bit of speed,
not a ton of power. He is more of a
slappy hitter, but he can really, he really makes contact.
So I think that's a really good call by.

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
You like it. Yeah, I struggled trying to find somebody
in that organization. I really did. Hey Carson Williams, of
course if he gets the call, but again, you got
you got three closers. Yeah, none of them are sleepers.
None of them have got the job. So yeah, it's
just tough picking a sleeper from that organization.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
Let me give you a couple of couple of thoughts
here over too, because there's a couple of pitchers that
are pretty interesting with the Rays coming up to the
minor leagues, Okay, and t J. Nichols and Brody Hopkins
both should be up at some point this season. Nichols
better chance to see a starter, Brody Hopkins could be

(01:10:55):
a reliever, but both high strikeout guys really really interesting
uh players. Kuren was interesting. He was he's ranked number
seventh for me and he actually just got df AD
which is there. They decided take him out the forty minutes,
which made no sense to me. So you can see
him show up somewhere else and then something. I goo Suarez,
another guy that's got a really really good arm. So

(01:11:16):
I like those three pictures that given us getting a
shot at some point, particularly Nickels and Brody Hopkins. Those
are my three stuffs for you. Yep. To me, I
think you're gonna we're gonna break for commercial and then
we're gonna call it a night because I'm tired.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Okay, I'm starting to get that, I'm starting to get
a little bunch drunk anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
I'm starting to pick my words mixed up. So we're
gonna take a final break, get back and wrap this
puppy up.

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
So we will do the Toronto next week.

Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
In conjunction with Tim doing the Catchers. So yeah, good,
we'll find out the Blue Jays appeared, I mean business
uh over under ninety four wins. That's one question, Oh,
George Springer, that's going to be a great discussion. Anthony
was like Dylan, Oh, Dylan caes or Shane Bieber, who

(01:12:16):
would you rather draft? And why? Oh that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
Yeah, definitely we get some I got some good sleepers
coming up out of the Jays organization as well.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
So number three many if I'm just Anthony Santander. For
some reason, Santander cut the lead it out of that.
Hopefully you know what that meant.

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
So sorry, Yeah, he's still on my copy.

Speaker 1 (01:12:39):
Okay, all right, so oh he's still on your copy
of must accidentally I must have give us have added it.
All right. So those are being our discussion. Uh for Anthony,
Uh for for Toronto Blue Jay Timmy. I am driving
back to New Jersey tomorrow and Tuesday. So if anybody's

(01:12:59):
looking to get old of me, might be a little
tough to me because it's a two day trip, six
hundred some odd miles, so make on our track down.

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
I'm glad you're doing it in two days. I'm glad
you're doing it in two days, Richard.

Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
And my wife really was like, Adam, and this is
too long of a trip. And then I finally acquiesced
to it, and she was absolutely right. It's it's great
to stop midway get in. It's about five hours both trips,
and uh yeah, yep, so and we found.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
A way to You never know, you never know how
traffic's gonna be, and you're always going to run into
some heavy traffic and you can take a break for
lunch and maybe yeah, it just it's just easier on
you than those long Your eves are tough.

Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
And the Washington belt Way traffic is just brutal, it's
just awful. And so what what we what we have
found is we stop in Richmond, which is about ninety
minutes from Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
We leave it at ten.

Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
O'clock in the morning, very well time because you get
there at the end of rush hour traffic and they've
got express lanes right that they flip back and forth
depending on the time.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
So you take the express lane, it's the end of
rush hour traffic, and in general you just fly right
through Washington unless there's some kind of accident, and that
seems to work well, but you can't do it unless you,
you know, you leave that time in the morning. I mean,
so it's a very specific time that you leave, otherwise
you're screwed.

Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Well, I was going to say, yeah, if you if
you're going to catch the evening rush hour, if you
pull out straight through, and then that's got to be
it's got to be horrible.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
So it's the evening rush hour, but the express lanes
are going the other way, that's the key. So so
they've got three lanes going both ways or four lanes
going both ways all the time, and then they've got
an express lane, which is two lanes that they flip,
so people leaving Washington is now going against you. So

(01:15:00):
you go from six lanes to four lanes, and the
four lanes are always full. That's the problem.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Yeah, that's that's a hard That's an easy pass for me. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
And then and then when we drive next day, when
we drive back down, we leave New Jersey at eight o'clock,
about seven thirty. We stopped in Columbia, Maryland for lunch,
and then we're heading we're heading through about one thirty
in the afternoon through Washington just as they're opening the
express lanes going out. It's the same thing and it

(01:15:33):
works perfectly. Otherwise you're like hating life, literally hating life.
Sitting and traffic.

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Yeah, you get to a certain age and rush hour
is it's not a good thing.

Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Now, it's not to me. How was pizza at par
last week?

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Oh, bitch at par was just awesome. We had brought
brought back to pizzas eight leftovers for the next two
days and life was good. But we're doing a little
better than that this week. Rich hard to believe better.

Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
Can you do better?

Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
You must be the the chicken balls.

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
No, we're doing, uh, some nice looking sirloin steaks on
our indoor barbecue.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Oh, tell me about the indoor barbecue.

Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Yeah, it's it's a it's a ceramic barbecue, electric plug
it in girls underneath, and it just does a fine
job of grilling up steaks well when it's twenty below outside.

Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
So where does the smoke go?

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
Fh It fills the house. Yes, you don't burn things rich.
Burning things is not good. That's when your neighbors call
you up and say, do you need us to call
the fire department for you? And we thank them and say, nah,
it's that's a pass.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
If you want your steaks well done, an indoor barbecue
is not the answer.

Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
No, I'm assume you got to keep a window open
or get near the oven and get the exhaust fan
to take out the out the smoke.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Yeah. Actually, I don't cook it on to too high
a heat. I take the long and slow process so
there's never that much smoke. You don't even have to
worry about it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Okay, got it? Got it well? Sounds like fun.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
So I sold the kidney, so we're gonna have steak
for the time.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Here you go, there you go. You final leftovers I
think it's uh, have a little store down here called
Chicken Salad Chick, so it's a chicken salad and we've
got a little bit left and Laurie made a soup
and uh so whatever, this is our last meal, so
whatever we the rest gets thrown out and uh yeah,

(01:17:43):
that's it. That's that. That's all she wrote.

Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
So yep, clean out the fridge and get ready to
head out in the morning. Well you have, you have
a safe, a safe journey, my friend, and then enjoy.

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Your starting your draft. Give me a text and somebody
you can get in the first at the wheel pick
in the first two rounds. I would be curious one that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Yeah, I most certainly will tell me.

Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
Talk to you next Sunday, my friend.

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Next Sunday, be safe, be well, and again catch you
next Sunday. Rachel
