Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's up, friends, and welcome in too Fantasy Pros, the
Fantasy Baseball Podcast. I am Chris Welsh and I am
joined today by the Joe Rico live on our Fantasy
Pros Discord. Discord is live Mondays at five pm Eastern,
where you can come in, you can hang out with us,
and you can be a part of the show, and
you can dictate the show as well. We'll talk more

(00:26):
about the Fantasy Pros Discord and how you can join
it in just a tiny bit. But Joe, it has
been a little bit. How are you, my friend.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I'm doing well. Yeah, we missed last week due to
the holiday, but happy to be back answering some questions.
If you guys want to join the pod beyond the feed,
then raise that hand and we'll get you up on stage.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
That's right, Raise some hands, ask some questions. We do
have some topics we're going to be talking about in
this bad Boy, because there are a couple big relevant
things here. But like I said, this is the show
of the people, for the people, and hopefully by the people.
Where hands are raised or already got a cue of
some questions we're going to be hitting as we're getting
into some fantasy baseball stuff, So let's get into numeral uno.

(01:07):
It will officially, especially as people are going to be
listening to this, it is going to be Jack Caglione Day.
Hopefully you all celebrate Jack Caglione officially being called up
by the Kansas City Royals. We I've talked about it
a ton on the prospecting segments we do if you
guys check out the YouTube YouTube dot com slash Fantasy
Pros MLB do that prospecting every single week, and we've

(01:29):
talked a lot about how not only was caags of
potential from double A up, but as he moved up
to Triple A, the reality kind of set in that like,
oh yeah, this team, they're going to move him up quicker.
And I think last week I posed the theory of
can you imagine if we see Jack Kagleon before Roman Anthony.
It has come true. Jackkagleon is up.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
He was.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
This news came out, by the way, about an hour
and a half after the major like NFBC fab deadlines,
so some people might have been able to slide him
in if you had like late you know, Sunday night
waivers into the week. Weekly leagues may have lost out
the opportunity. I don't even know if there's a big
like with the discussion of picking up I think you should,

(02:11):
but Jill, let's get your take on it. Prospects have
definitely disappointed to some degree. There's going to be chaos
in the streets. What level and how high of a
level of player are you willing to let go to
make sure that Jack Hagleon is on your roster if
he's available.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I think most people probably have at least one bench bat,
whether it's like a Matt McClain or somebody along those
lines who's disappointed them, or maybe a pitching spot that
they've been using for streaming. I don't know that I
want to drop the world for him, because we saw
the same thing with Nick Kurtz whenever that was it's
called three weeks a month ago, and he was okay,
he's double with an injury. But expecting the world from

(02:51):
prospects doesn't tend to work out. Like you said, it's
been a little bit of a disappointing season, So I'm
not dropping any like top one hundred type of players
for him. But I think most people, if they're still
seeing him on the waiver wire, there's there's probably a
fringe guy on your roster you can exchange him for.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I think the fringe is a no brainer. But I
think what we have to do is we've got to
push things to the so we got to test it out.
So Matt McLain's a good start. So Matt McClain, I'll
throw in, like Marcus Simeon, two bigger names. Do you
think they both are in that world where you're just
you're not gonna you're not gonna think twice, You're gonna
pick up Caglion.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I would be willing to make move from from mclan
I would make the move for sure, because he's been bad.
They moved him to the botom of the order. He's
not even playing today. I don't know if that's going
to be more of a trend where they're, you know,
getting him more off days until he gets right. But
Simon's actually had a good couple of weeks. I would
be more inclined to hold on to him, But I
think McLain I would be willing to make that swap

(03:43):
for Jock.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
So the the only move, Yeah, McLain, how we do it.
But I'd also do it for Simeon. If the only
move you can make for for CAGs is Simeon, You're
not doing it.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I would probably not do it. I would understand wanting
to do it, and I guess it would depend on
positions and a couple of different things on your roster.
But in a vacuum, I think I would probably stick
it out with Semon.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
All Right, I feel like I've done this in a
couple different spots, But this was a popular question on
leading off Jack Kackleianner Christian Walker.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I would I'd probably take a shot on Jack for Walker.
Walker has really not been good. There hasn't even really
been a great stretch for him. It's just kind of
been mediocrity the whole year, two eleven batting average, seven homers.
I would be willing to make that swap.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
So I guess then let me just ask you, this
is Jack Kagleon in a ten team a must pick up.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
If you're talking a standard ten team league. I think
it might be a little bit tricky just because of
the way that rosters work. You got one infield or
one first base spot. There's no corner or middle infield
spots on a lot of those rosters.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Maybe just a utail or something.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah, he he's probably worth it. There's probably somebody in
a ten team league who could use him all in
all ten team leagues, but I wouldn't say that every
single team should be out there going for him, because
just if you're talking about a tent really shallow like
a standard Yahoo, you know, if you have a Freddie
Freeman or something, then you really have nowhere to put

(05:19):
him unless you're sacrificing those utility spots. I think generally
speaking he's worth a flyer, but in those ten team leagues,
I think it's pretty close. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I think the idea is, like you should try to
get him on the roster. He he's hit at both
levels double A and Triple A. The power is it's
almost unspeakable at this point, like he's going to go
up into the majors and he's going to already be
one of the more prolific power bats in the game
as and he's never had a major league get back.
The bigger question is going to be about, like he's

(05:49):
got an above average chase rate, so he chases the
ball in Double A and trip We've definitely saw it
in Triple A from data that he has a higher
than not chase rate, So what's going to bend? Is
he going you know, is he going to see like
look at Jordan Jordan Lawler absolutely dominated you know in
the miners three sixty three, forty average, whatever it was,

(06:10):
and then all of a sudden he gets up to
the majors and we find out from Tory Leavello he
is incapable of hitting breaking pitches, you know, like that
was especially against I think it was like right handed
hitter or pitchers, and we learned that information. So is
CAGs going to go down that route? The benefit again is,
you know, his strikeouts were lower than expected. He has

(06:30):
a lot of plate coverage, a tremendous batspeed, tremendous power.
All of those work in his favor. But there is
a potential for chase rate. And what that brings me
to is that you have to understand the stomach you
have for prospects. If you were somebody that complained and
cried about Nick Kurtz hitting two eighty but doing nothing

(06:50):
else and striking out a bunch in the first two weeks,
you probably shouldn't drop something significant for a guy like
Jack kagle On because it's very likely to go through that.
So like, if you are here for upside and you've
got a roster construction that you know, you can maybe
quiet some of that stuff down. I think that's the play.
But I think we're definitely at a point of the

(07:11):
season where we've had a lot of prospects come up.
There's still some others that are out there, but you
need to understand who you are. And if you're a
quick trigger finger and you're going to cut something serious
for him, but you're going to cry about it after
three days of you know, fifty percent strikeout rate, then
I don't think he's for you. But at the end
of the day, this is one of the bigger prospects
that have come out with huge fantasy upside, especially from

(07:33):
the power department on that team, that I do think
it's worth being aggressive, regardless of the risk, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, I definitely hear you. I think another thing we
have to point out is that the team around him
has been atrocious Kansas City in terms of where they
rank as a team in terms of WRC plus. The
only worst teams are the White Sox, the Pirates, and
the Rockies, Like they are crocious this season. The only
players who are hitting at a league average level or
above our Bobby wit Junior as expected at MIKEL. Garcia,

(08:03):
but Asquintino, Jonathan India, Sal Perez. These guys have been
pretty disappointing overall. So if you're looking for a guy
who's gonna like run up the counting stats, you're probably
not gonna get that with him, but you might end
up getting twenty twenty five home runs even in four months.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Yeah, then that, like I said, balance it all out,
but I think a lot of people are telling you
it's the way you want to go.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
You know.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Another interesting one, but it's an easy answer would have been,
like if Nick Kurtz were playing successfully right now, Kurts
are CAGs and I probably would have gone tags at
this point. But I also think that the current Nick
Kurtz line might be representative of Jack Kagleon. So he
makes his debut, people are gonna have your shares, and
if he didn't have a waiver wire run, you're going
to get an early look, which is either going to

(08:45):
dictate a small discount or an even more inflated price.
Because it's probably within reason to think people absolutely blew
their fab if they waited this long. I mean because
we had been talking about it for a long time here.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, the thing with NFBC leagues, that's interesting. I know
that's probably a very small portion of our audience, but
he wouldn't have actually been in those free agent pools
because the way it works there is, yeah, they have
to players, they have to make their debut unless they
were drafted and dropped. And there might have been one
or two leagues where he was drafted in the last
round and he would be available there. But if you
are an NFBC player, you're gonna have a whole week

(09:19):
to see how they're gonna use him. Is he gonna
be at first, is he going to be dhing? Is
it going to be in every other day type of thing?
You kind of get a nice little sample before you
have to unload the whole fab bit on him.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Do you think it's going to be unloading? Like, let's
say he hits like two homers this week, two seventy,
you know, and he's hitting like six for the team.
What do you think his fab is going to be? Percentage?

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I could see him going for twenty percent easily, I'll
say it.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I think you're way underflating it. I think I think
he goes for fifty percent of whatever budgets are left.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Oh, I was talking about like overall, Like I'm thinking
like a two hundred dollars fab bit in in terms
of like a thousand of the season, you think he
goes for like three four hundred.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
I think he goes for three to four hundred. If
someone had one thousand dollars left, I'm gonna assume they don't.
I'm gonna assume.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
People think because people have used money on Kyron Paris
and Zebbie Matthews and Kurts already and August Ramirez. So Lawler. Yeah,
so there's I feel like most people, like a lot
of my leagues, I'm sitting around five hundred fab and
if Jack has a big week in leagues where I
need that first base slash power help, and I might

(10:29):
throw half of the remaining budget at him. Yeah, maybe
I throw two fifty out of five hundred left, or
maybe three hundred if I'm really in need.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah, that that's more of where I was going with it.
So you know, that'll be the interesting thing to watch,
we will talk about and we'll all enjoy the debut
coming up here. On Tuesday very much. So if you

fantasypros dot Com slash Chat. Let's go to some audience
questions here take goat says got Ellie, CJ and Nedo.

(11:41):
Would you guys trade Ellie for some outfield help. So
this is clearly like a sell Elle High type of
thing because CJ is performed fantastic and Nedo is one
of the biggest boons in fantasy. For that injury kind
of set him back in his cost what a ridiculous
value and how he's performed. Assuming you're trading Ellie, you're

(12:01):
going to get a top ten outfielder. Is that something
you want to do, Joe.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Depends on exactly who we're talking about in return, because
Eli to this point of the season, if I'm looking
at the player raider comes in at number seven. The
outfielders who are in his general vicinity, we're talking about
James Wood, We're talking about Pete Crow Armstrong. Would you
trade him for PCA? I mean, it's kind of doesn't
make a ton of sense because they're both the profiles

(12:26):
kind of similar. But if you just needed an outfielder,
would you be willing to do that?

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Well, trade I don't want to do that. I don't
want to trade. It would take a lot for me
to trade Ellie. I do think James Wood and PCA
are the right type. But the weird thing is, like
Ellie performing a little bit down PCA and James Wood
performing way up is up there? Okay, this is interesting.
Taye just said Corbin Carroll, who is struggling a little bit.

(12:53):
I think that is a prime, perfect kind of struggle
for struggle ish type of player trade and you're getting
similar production I'm doing. I'm doing Ellie for Corbin when
I have that type of shortstop backup? What say you?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Okay? Are you cut out there for a second? So
I didn't hear the first part of it, but you're
you're doing that trade. You're trading Ellie for PCA.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
If you no, no, no, I think it was you
cut out. I mean maybe I cut out, but I
heard you cut out midway through. But what it was
was Ta just said that, what about Corbyn Carroll? Because
I'm not doing it for PCA. I'm probably not doing
it for James would but maybe I do. But Corbyn
Carroll is a perfect example because you know he's had
some early struggles which has got his batting average down,
stolen bases power. I think that's an easy swap for

(13:36):
swap that I'm doing, and that one I am doing.
I don't think I trade Ellie for those other two
but what's say you on all three of them.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I wouldn't trade him for PCA because I just don't
really expect him to keep up this pace necessarily, and
because the profile is kind of similar. Like if I
was going to trade Li, you would probably be because
I'm looking for somebody who is either going to give
me more power, because it's like, you know, some power,
high speed, average type of batting, average type of guy,
like I want something a little different. Most likely for

(14:07):
Corbyn Carrol, I would do it. Great offense, he's cooled
off a little bit, but he's still been phenomenal. But
I think that's kind of the right ballpark. James Wood
is interesting because it's not a great lineup around him.
It's not terrible, But I think for James Wood, I
would be probably willing to do that. I think this
is kind of a good range though, like those first

(14:28):
to second round type of players, you couldn't go two.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Oh, Joey keeps breaking up here. The James Wood one
is a tough one for me. I'm not so sure
about if I'm doing the James would one. It's close.
When Joe says, you know you're looking for more power? Yeah, maybe,
But then maybe it's like I'm trading La for Schwarber.
You know, that would be the type. I think Schwarber
would be like another benefit. If someone doesn't believe the

(14:56):
average is going to stay up, I would push more
to Schwarbs, Schwarbs, Carol, something like that. I think that
gets a tatis. Yes, these are all guys that I
would trade Ellie for if I'm balancing on that roster.
Did we get you back, Joey?

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, I'm here. I don't know what's going on. I
don't know what's happening. Some interfere in something.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Ellie thing has got your flustered. Right, here's another one.
Dexter says any optimism on Marcus Simeon after those last
few games, So I guess we were just talking about
him looking to drop Maclin for either Simeon or Roman
Anthony when he's called up, Which would you prefer.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
I wouldn't mind dropping him for Semion for the time being,
and then whenever Anthony comes up, making that subsequent move
for Roman Anthony. Probably it depends on how Simeon goes though,
because Simeon, you know, he might just be able to
maintain not what we've seen this last week necessarily, but
over the last two weeks he's hitting over three hundred
a home or three steals. We might get to see

(15:50):
like not vintage, semi about good version of him going
forward in a lineup that I think will improve as
the year goes on. So I would probably, no, not probably,
I would draw McLain for Semion, and then I would
kind of have to just see where we are with
Roman Anthony when he gets called up to see if
I would make that swap, but I think I probably would.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I think either way, you can, like we can move
on from Matt McClain. Matt McClain, my worst fears were
bigger than even my fears and draft season talking about him.
He's not good. I don't think Marcus Simeon is a
big sell. I'm gonna give you a different answer. I
think you should pick up Roman Anthony right now. And
the reason behind it is we are within two to

(16:28):
three days of kind of the breaking point for the
Super twos, so anything after really does kind of make sense.
Like if if you assume Roman Anthony in the money
manipulation is going on, that kind of plays into it.
So if they're and money is like the Super twos
and stuff. So if they're holding him back for extra

(16:49):
control and stuff like that, that ends this week. So
we might be within a one week timeline of Roman
Anthony coming up, or the likelihood jumps up. There is
something I want to jump to here in just a
couple of minutes that kind of ties to this. But
I think I would be willing to pick up Roman
Anthony just to see, assuming I've got some other middle

(17:09):
infield help. I'm not going to pick up Roman Anthony
and not have a second baseman, but if I've got
someone else, literally, anybody who's better than Simeon or McLain
right now, So put anybody and then have Roman Anthony
be the guy just in case he gets called up.
So then you're not fighting for him and you're not
waiting on a waiver claim or money or something like that.
Because it really does feel likely that we're in that
time space. Let's get to a couple more of these questions,

(17:30):
and then I want to tie that in together. JB said,
need to drop one of Kowser or Kurtz in a
keeper league. Both are at the same contract, but Kurtz
has one additional year. Who would you drop?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
I would probably. I won't want to drop either, but
I would probably drop Kowser if I had to. I've
just never been as big of a fan of him
as maybe some others. I don't know that he's projecting
for a decent batting average, the power is pretty good.
The lineup I think will improve over the years. But
Kurtz in the next couple of seasons in that ballpark,

(18:04):
with an improving lineup himself around him for the Athletics,
I would have a hard time letting him go.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yep, Sames, He's been a pretty easy one for me,
even though Kowser definitely still has dynasty upside and stuff.
I think Kurtz showed you some of his worst and
then he bounced back from it and he started seeing
the power go before he got hurt. I think there's
still a lot in the tank for Kurtz. I think
he's still a tremendous dynasty keeper value and with the
one extra year, it's just even easier. It's Amy says,

(18:31):
what can we expect rest of season with Schwarber? He's
been absolutely fantastic. Is first base eligibility a real possibility?
So first base and expectations for the rest of the
year on Schwarbs.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
I don't think he's getting first base. He hasn't played
there at all this year. With Harper out last week,
it's been Alec Bohm playing.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
I was about to say I don't think he did either.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I mean, Schwarber has played a few times in the
outfield this year. If we're gonna hope for any eligibility,
he's got four reps in left. If you're playing in
a really super shallow format, then maybe he gets there.
But if he gets first base, I would be really
surprised unless there's something more nefarious with Harper and Istamus
a lot of time and maybe Shoreber gets first base,
but as of today, I would bet against it. But

(19:19):
in terms of his production, he's been absolutely phenomenal. I
don't think there's really any reason to think he's gonna stop.
Maybe the batting average comes down a little bit because
he's not ever been a two sixty six hitter, really,
but maybe a two to fifty hitter who's gonna give
you forty plus homers. I think he's gonna do what
he's done the last several seasons.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
I kind of agree with you. I don't believe I
think the average is going to come back down. I mean,
if you get a full two fifty season out of him,
he's going to be tremendously valuable. But also, this is
Schwarber season, This is Schwarberfest. Schwarberfest always kicks up in June,
so this is usually where he gets hot. So I
don't know. I think he's carrying this team. I think
he's gonna push forty Homers this year. I'm rolling, and

(20:00):
I'm really happy with Kyle Schwarber, and I'm not looking
to move off or do anything like that. So Schwarbs
for me for sure. Okay, So here is the tie in.
I wanted to talk to you about Joe. There is
a rumor going around about Jared Duran and trade rumors
going on, and I think on the surface, you can

(20:21):
look at it and we can just kind of be
dismissive and we can go like, you know, I don't
know if I buy that, But there there was an
interview Dennis Lynn, who's like a big reporter for the
Padres was gave a couple of nuggets in there that
I thought was interesting, and one of which was that
there have been some quote incidents. An incidence doesn't necessarily

(20:41):
mean it has to be a big thing, but incidents
with Duran and like the Red Sox, maybe things he
does that they don't like, stuff like that. Another out
there has been that are well, I guess this is
be that they're listening to offers, so this should have
actually been the top thing they're listening to offers. And
then it goes to because there have been some stuff

(21:03):
with Jaron Duran. But most importantly the tie in is
that that opens up the spot for Roman Anthony. So
when you do a trade like this, you can soften
the potential blow because you are also looking for a
room to get Roman Anthony up, who has like a
three four five slash in the miners who's absolutely killing it.
They're blocked with Rafaela in center field. You've got Willyard

(21:24):
Bray you that's out there. Christian Campbell hasn't worked defensively
that if this team were to, in a hypothetical situation,
go and get let's say a first basement in the
trade as well, you could then have Campbell play in
the outfield, and then you could also bring up a
guy like Roman Anthony that softens that blow. So what
I think is interesting is that there could be issues.

(21:44):
The team is listening and there is a rightful reason
because they need to make room for Roman Anthony. And
the trade partner that's been talked about is the San
Diego Padres. They're tough because how many assets do they have.
It doesn't seem like they want to move leo degrees.
But there's some scenarios where maybe you know, Luisa rise
in a bullpen piece, or maybe Dylan Cees and something else.

(22:05):
There are things that make sense. But Jaron Duran is
obviously a super young, talented player with multiple years of control.
Do you think the Boston Red Sox are going to
move off of Jared Duran and open up a fantasy
spot for Roman Anthony.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I think that that is the most logical way for
them to go, just because in terms of the rest
of the outfield a Brayu's gold Glove caliber. I saw
it reported the other day that saying Rafaela, there's a
lot of front officers who have him graded as the
best center fielder and therefore outfielder in baseball.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Yeah, he's not going anywhere. Everybody keeps trying to ship
him off. He's not going anywhere. Off the centerfield no.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
They gave him a long contract of what was it, like,
seven or eight year contract. I know that the bat
isn't amazing, but his defense, they're not moving him. He's
not going to be playing shortstop again. There's just there's
no need for that. So Darren Durant does make the
most sense as the guy to move. He's got three
three point eighty five million dollar contract, very team friendly,
and a club option next year. I think it makes

(23:05):
sense for them to move him. Will they end up
doing something, It's always very hard to forecast these things,
especially when you have a specific team. It doesn't usually
end up working out that way. But I could see
something like Deris and maybe you know, Gavin Sheets or
something like that, because they do need a first basement,
or like you mentioned, maybe a rise. I could see
it happening if they are going to make a trade.

(23:27):
I think Duran is probably the one that makes the
most sense to get rid of Bray. You is three
years younger, He's been a really solid bat with a
great glove. We already talked about Raphaela. I think if
they are going to move off of somebody, it should
probably be Duran. Are they gonna do it? I would
lean probably not, but I wouldn't be shocked by the
movie either.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
I wonder and this is one of those things where
I think like you could have people pissed off if
the Red Sox don't get Leo Dvrees. For everything that
seems to be out there, Leo Divrees is untouchable. So
just for a minute. And I don't like to do
that trade thing because every time you ever see it,
it's like crazy, dude. Anytime you see like a fan

(24:06):
of a team, they're like, here's my trade scenario, and
it's three horrific bad play It's a fantasy trade. It's
the three worst players you've ever seen for a great player.
And then they're like, who says no, they're always bad trades.
I'm not connected to either one of these, But if
you do think about the team can use Roman Anthony
as this piece that like, hey, he now has a
job that they can sell. What are the biggest holes

(24:27):
for this team that makes the team better. They need
a first baseman, they probably need bullpen help and maybe rotation.
That is something that the Padres could provide. They've got
a guy like maybe Dylan Cees. They can move contractual
issues they've got maybe Suarez that they can move off
of or Jason Adam, and then you've also got a
guy like Luisa Rise where you could put Croninworth back
in and that might create some roster flexibility of some

(24:51):
big pieces that help. And maybe it's two or one
of those, and then it's another young prospect that isn't
Leo devrez who's going to be of lesser quality. And
you know, maybe it's somewhere between two and four players
for trading off a big guy like that, but it
makes the team better to win now. I actually do
think there's a lot of logic to it, but they're
gonna get smashed in the public unless they get Leod
Devreese back because they're selling off a young, controllable, you know,

(25:15):
theoretical star, but he's just underperformed this year. So I'm
saying all this to say that I actually I kind
of buy it more than just the rumor that's floating around.
I actually think there's a lot of validity to you know,
reconstructing the roster with kind of new management and figuring
out you know, you have this small window of a
team that looks like they can compete for a World Series.

(25:37):
You have one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
So if you could get two pieces to help that
major league piece now, and you replace who has been
a little above average Jaron Duran with a Roman Anthony,
and you got all these other pieces floating around, will
your brain you're trying to find time for in Christian camp.
It actually makes a lot of sense in that world.
I just don't know if it's going to come across, right,

(25:59):
and I just don't know when do you do it?
But I think there's a more likely than not chance
it's going to happen. What was your did you say,
like you think it can or you're uncertain?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
I would bet probably against it. I just I feel
like it would maybe not be a white flag move
for the Red Sox, but it would feel almost like
a little bit of a surrender to trade Aaron Duran
for three games under five hundred and eight back in
the division right now, only.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
If they, like, only if they were only getting degrees,
though I don't agree with that at all. If they
were to trade, let's say they traded Durant and they
got Cease and Arise. I'm just throwing this out here.
I'm not sure why the Poters want to get rid
of both those pieces, but let me do it better.
Cease and Jason Adam. They trade a bullpen piece and Cease,
and then there's like another low prospect that's not thrown

(26:44):
in the white flag. They're getting another stud rotation piece,
and you're getting a guy that could go in and
maybe be you know, a closer or another one be
to your closure. Do you think that's still thrown in
the flag.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
I just think the Red Sox offense has been fairly
pedestrian this year, and if you're trading Duran, a guy
who has been a cornerstone of that offense the last
two seasons, I know he hasn't been as good this year,
but I feel like they would need to be so
confident in Anthony and I feel like if they were
that confident in him, he would have been up already.
And maybe it just comes down to personnel. There's too

(27:18):
many people there. It just feels like the Red Sox
this is the type of move they would make at
the deadline if they're ten games back and they know
that there's really no hope. If they're making that trade now,
I think it would be kind of hard to sell
to the fan base, to your point, unless they're getting
back a superhul and I think that's going to be
hard for them to do. I could be wrong.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
How about a monster, how about Devers goes to San Diego.
Let's do that, everybody, Let's get let's get Devers to
go and then they'll sell off you know, Dylan Cease
and Suarez and we'll just blow the whole thing up.
I'm here. If there's anybody that can blow a roster
up and blow the trade market open, it's aj Preller.
There's one hundred percent facts about that. So we'll monitor that.

(27:59):
But that's floating around. We'll see if anything happens. Final
one that I've got Joe is Corbyn Burns. As we
are recording this, we still do not have or at
least I have not seen. If someone wants to update
me and I'm looking right now, we have not gotten
results off of an MRI. Oh, actually, hold on, there
might be something here, Corbyn Burns. Let's see. I'll read

(28:20):
you this in a second. But Corbyn Burns on Sundays throwing,
throws a pitch, turns around, calls for the guys to
come over. Prodoma walks over. He goes elbow. He looks
absolutely distraught, beyond belief. Elbow's dead. He says he's going
for an MRI at five am this morning. He does,

(28:42):
we hadn't heard anything. There's a local reporter out here.
The context of his tweet isn't making a lot of sense.
But John Gammadoro actually used to work with him. He's
the guy you would check in with. He just tweeted
eight minutes ago. Keep in mind, Corbyn Burns is a
Scott Boris agent, and Boris is very involved in thorough
not only this client, but also injuries. I think that
is with why we have not received information. I am

(29:07):
terrified because we have not heard anything. The longer you wait,
the worse it is. In my eyes, you've got to
release the information. If it's good, we may find out
in a little couple hours game time. But to me
this reads of second opinion. But there was word after
that there was no popping sensation. There's also a rumor
going on around that they think this might just be

(29:28):
more inflammation as you had some time off. What death
sentence do you think this is for Corbyn Burns And
what's the Fantasy Fallout. If Burns missed his significant time.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
It looked pretty bad. I mean, just based on his
own reaction. And we always talk about how players don't
really know their own bodies. They'll say they're fine and
they're not, and vice versa. But just his reaction, that
look on his face, it looks bad. I'm not sure
how the Scott Boris thing factors in necessarily, just because
he's had a ton of clients the last couple of

(30:00):
years that have gotten hurt. I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
I think they're saying like that they want to have
all the info before anything's released.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Okay, that's that's fair. In terms of the impact for Arizona,
you'd probably be the better person to speak to on that.
But I would imagine it means Ryan Nelson will just
be in the rotation going forward. They would still need
a because they have Gallon, Kelly Fought, they would have Nelson,
and then I guess at Water Rodriguez is going to
be back pretty soon, so he would probably be the
fifth one.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Did you see my video of him the other day?

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Had Water Rodriguez? No? I didn't.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, So he he had a rehab assignment on Friday.
It was Friday night, and I happened to be going
to that. It was a camelback ranch, and he actually
happened to travel and I saw the game. It was
unlike something I've seen. He went five. He went dere
four and two thirds. The first half he was throwing

(30:55):
meatball fastballs, I assume to set up the change up.
I actually talked to him after because of something. He
was throwing change ups not getting any bites, and so
he started throwing fastballs. He gave up three homers each inning.
The first three innings he gave up a homer to
these are complex level rookie ball players, and then he
balked in a run. He bocked a guy on third

(31:17):
and gave up a fourth run. But then in the
fourth inning, or late third or fourth whatever, all of
a sudden, his change up just locked in and he
ate these guys up. It was the most edward of
Rodriguez outing ever. He went four and two thirds I
think four earned runs and he struck out nine. And
I asked him after because I was like, that change

(31:37):
up was ridiculous, And I said, were you trying to
set it up with the fastball early? And he's like
he's like, well, those young kids were not swinging at it.
He's like they I'm paraphrasing a little bit, but he's like,
they were not giving me anything on the change up.
So that's why he went heavy fastball and he got rocked.
All of this is coming back to say, as much

(31:58):
as I like Edward Rodriguez, I don't see it anymore.
His fastball is just a BP meat fastball that rookie
level guys are killing. And I'm terrified of him to
go on the rotation. And I'm not going to fall
down the trap if he goes in. I know everybody
didn't need that. That's just I got to see him.
That's my take on it. You're right, they will throw
him back in the rotation if burns missus time, but

(32:19):
I don't feel confident about it that he will.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, his numbers are absolutely atrocious this season. The only
thing that might give people some hope is that he
has two double digit strikeout games. That's you know what
you said, is definitely more more actionable. I think maybe
in deeper leagues he might be a guy fifteen teamers NFBC,
but most people probably don't have to worry about e
Rod after what we just heard there.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
No, I don't think so. So back to the thing is, Yeah,
I think Ryan Nelson is the beneficiary to this. I
think he's the one that's going to be the big benefit.
I also think, like regardless, if he got hit back
out on the wire, I would look towards him again
because I don't think Edward is long for it. If
Corbyn is out for an extended period of time, he'll
be the beneficiary. They also have Yelbert Diez who's a possibility,

(33:04):
but I think I think Ryan is going to be
the guy. So that's my bet on it. Just random
guess here, yeay or nay. This is going to be
a long injury for Corbyn.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
If I had to go yes or no, I would
say yes.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
I think what is that to you? Is that season
ending or like a couple months you got all quiet about.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
I hate can you hear me now?

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (33:31):
I hate to say it, but it's probably Tommy John
based on what he was reacting and everything. But until
we have more information, I I don't know. I don't
I don't want to hurt your guy, don't want to.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
You know, it's a pure guest. It's all guessing game.
We might by the time this airs, there could be
information out that's like, oh yeah, hey, by the way,
it's nothing Burger. I think he's out to watch the
All Star Break. I don't think it's Tommy John. I
think he's out to All Star Break. But that we
that we don't have information that always seems like second
and third and all that type of stuff, So we'll
have to see. So if you're trying to make a
move in between, Ryan Nelson might be an internal option

(34:03):
and really not the worst option out there. But you
can also look to prospects like Bubba Chandler Jacob Mizarowski.
If you're looking for really high upside, those would be
players that I might be taking a little peak at. Friends.
That is it actually got one more question. Let's just
do this real quick one hurting for runs and rode
between Miguel Vargas and Parker Meadows. Which way you're leading?
Parker Meadows just brought back on the off of the il.

(34:26):
Which one do you want? This is from s SRS
Trading Cards.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
It was like a huge Parker Meadows fan. I drafted
him on so many teams before he got hurt. Vargas
is kind of cooled off a little bit, and plus
the lineup is just so so bad. I wouldn't mind
taking a chance on Parker Meadows there in most cases,
assuming he's going to be leading off like we thought
he was before. And I'm not sure if they've had
any announcement on that, but he was projected to go

(34:52):
into the season as their leadoff hit or if they
put him back at the top. And yeah, roster resource,
Yeah he is bad in first today, So yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
SRS just said he's leading off today. I'm with you.
I would take those Meadows. I'm all Meadows on this one.
