Dang it like the video. I know it sounds dumb,
but like the video, it helps us and Welsh got
(00:47):
a lot of baseball to talk about. The Mets have
hit their wall, but I am still not panicking because
they've got a ton of guys out there to make
up for it, to trade prospects. They've got a lot
going on there, so I'm not freaking out quite yet,
but Welsh, it was a long weekend of baseball and
a lot of heat coming our way. Now you will
say we're a bunch of sissies out here. It's like
(01:09):
ninety seven degrees and you'll say, hey, that's December for
you for the wel like one hundred is it one
hundred and seventy four degrees where you are today.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
We're pretty close within a degree or two of that.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
God, just the worst I saw it. Actually, we got
to talk about too, because in the game with Seattle,
somebody had to come out because of heat exhaustion. I believe.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Oh no, I was thinking it, well, he's like threw
up this weekend because he did.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, that was like he was sick too. So we
got to keep an eye on that, like what's going
on with some of these guys here at some of
these game times with the temperatures. To keep that in mind.
It's brutal out there right now. And uh, it's brutal
for the Mets because Hazus Lezardo dominated them yet again.
He just kind of owns the Mets. Seven strikeouts, six
and two thirds innings, and it's June. It's a little
(01:53):
late for Schwarberfest, but it looks like we're finally getting
some of it. His twenty fourth on run. So the
Phillies doing good things and another say for mister Kirkering
as well, just throwing that out there too over the weekend.
More O'Ryan Kirkering saves. I still think a Batista, maybe
a Yoann Dran, somebody else's going too the Phillies. But
until that happens, well she feels like that's the place
(02:15):
to go for saves.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, I'm not sure that they're gonna I mean maybe,
but like think of you know, what they've done and
like you know, getting the move of like Romano, and
like are they gonna go and trade assets for another closer?
They could probably use it simply for a playoff run,
knowing Alvarado's not going to be there, so I think
that's a possibility. I don't know if they go into
the big heavy market of them, but I will tell
(02:38):
you that there was so much panic about Jesus Lizardo
and those bad starts, and I feel pretty vindicated for
standing by the Jesus lizard this entire time, because this
was a phenomenal start and this it wasn't the matchup
that people thought either, and it's a really great turnaround.
I mean, he had a thirty seven percent with rate overall,
(03:00):
got everything off of his secondary stuff. His fastball was popping,
looked like the Jesus lizarda that everybody was banking on
at the beginning of the year. Eighteen whiffs in that
game against the against the Mets. So it's a huge
game and the buying window gone out.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
It's long gone. Some people here in the chat speculating
about Bednard to Philadelphia. I think they will bring in
somebody see that.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I think it needs to be a smaller move if
they're going to get a release. I don't think they're
gonna sinequ with if Felix Fatista is the ones that's
stending out my mind when you said that, I'm like,
that's gonna be a lot. I think it's gonna be
a bigger trade than you think.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Maybe it might be. I'm trying to think of which
one of those closers are potentially free agents at the
end of the year.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Too familiar with the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks are a garbage pile
right now, and they're relief and stuff Shelby's been pretty good.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
On top of that too, you know, I mean, dare
I say, if the Guardians keep sliding, could closs A
be a guy too? I mean you might be able to.
I doubt it. Like if you're the Phillies, like this
is your window, Like, don't be cheap now, Like you're
so close, You've been really close. Last year was super disappointing.
If you're the Phillies, I think you go get somebody.
Speaking of Welsh's Diamondbacks being depressing, Corbyn Carrol second on
(04:09):
our Headlines today, He's gonna undergo an MRI today in
Chicago to determine whether or not he's dealing with any
structural damage. She's got a hamp problem. So in Chicago
and they put your an MRI machine and they say, hey, Garbon,
get in there and we're going to take a look
at your ant and see how the hell it doing there.
Maybe he's got some structural damage in that hand there.
So obviously this is disappointing news the Diamondbacks. I'm surprised
(04:31):
they haven't started selling off yet, but I mean they've
got to start now, right, Like they have to start
moving some pieces, don't.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
They I mean you would like them too, but they're
not going to. They're still talking about being buyers in
this market and then gets silly just because that wild
card is just like right within grafts. But I do
think they're going to sell off a piece or two.
I don't know what it's going to look like. The
team loves Iohanniel Suarez. Gallon is the worst. What trade equity.
(04:57):
I mean, if you can get a bucket of balls
for him at this point, nice, but guys like Shelby
Miller seem like they could. But the problem is is
like they can't get rid of Shelby Miller until they
commit to being out of it because they literally have
no other live bodies in there. Corbyn could be the
catalyst to this. I mean he got hurt on Wednesday.
He has not played since they've held this back. Why
(05:18):
is it sore? If there's some type of like hairline
fracture whatever, and he's gonna sit for a month, that
should be the nail.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
In the coffee. That should be enough.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Like I don't know how many more of these we need.
It's just like again and again, and.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
They have been competitive, and I think that's you know,
I respect that it was a team that was two
years removed from a World Series. They you know, performance there, Like,
I get it, I understand it's June. You don't want
to throw in the towel. But at the same time,
you see some of these teams that are quick to
make these usually the teams that are like first or
last to make these trade typically do the best. I
feel like the Red Sox thing was a whole difference.
(05:56):
So that was a difference than circumstances.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
I will tell you this. So I am legitimately worried
about Corbyn because this is the type of stuff like,
you know, we've seen like hand wrists, you know, usually
it's like hammet stuff, but like, could there be a
zapp of power. He's already struggled with his batting average
this year. It had gone it had been like wavering
and then now it's just kind of like ticking back
down he's been. He's so explosive, he does a bunch
(06:20):
of stuff with bat speed and turning over with the
wrist that like, I wonder if this is going to
zap something take the team being out of it. Maybe
this little lingering injury. Halavella's treating the team. I'm legitimately
worried about like long term rest of season for Corbyn Carroll.
But there's not much you could do about it because
I don't know if there's like I don't know if
you can do one for one stuff. I might legitimately
(06:41):
look at one for one so if I.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Could get out, that's interesting. He is a smaller frame
player too, and sometimes injuries over a long season happen.
You know. Al twove is a smaller player too, but
Al two a very strong, always very strong. Same thing
with Lindor. He's not the biggest guy. Another guy he's
like really just physically strong. Like I don't know, I
don't know what Corbin Carroll, you know, Like I mean
his age is still pretty young. He could put some
(07:03):
more you know, muscle on that for him if he
wants to maybe, But again, sometimes that affects other parts
of your game, you know, Like that's always the answer.
But you know, when you're a smaller frame player, it's
a long season. You gotta make sure you're strong enough
to get through the entire one sixty two Showio Tani
he got through a whole inning all by himself. Pair
of strikeouts for him against the Nats and then Casparius
took over. After that, Casparius got the win. So that's
(07:25):
what you're looking for. More on some Dodger pitchers as
we continue with Sandy al Contra. Three runs, six hits,
six innings in a win over the Braves. He struck
out four walk to I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
This was like, you're ready to turn the page on him?
He had he has had four great starts, quality starts
in there like he looked too ere ish. I'd have
to look what it changed you. But you have been like, Nope,
it was good. Nope, are you ready to turn the corner?
Two seven era in Jines. So far I've been alone
on the Alcantra island.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
I mean against the Braves. Are more impressed. But I
don't know, man, Like I put to you this way,
I feel good about putting him back in my lineups.
Now do I feel good that he is, you know,
going to be a really big contributor that I'm not sure?
Like I feel Okay, we can start him, Okay. Two
start weeks were good. H just looking through the table
of the tape here too. Against Colorado again, terrible team.
(08:18):
That was his first of the quality starts then against Pittsburgh,
terrible team that against the Phillies obviously much better competition
with five innings, five strikes, not a terrible team, very
good in the Braves, not a terrible team, so better.
I guess I don't know what I'm waiting for, because
I guess I know exactly what you're waiting for. Strikeout guy,
what am I waking? I'm waiting for seven eight strikeout
game with no walks like That's.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Exactly everybody in this chat, everybody listens this note show
knows exactly what you're waiting for. And b D nailed
out with that six games. You could only be good
if you have six straight games when once you've gotten bad.
So all right, everybody, two more starts for saying more,
and then we can turn it around. You can only
be good with six straight great starts.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Speaking of that, it wasn't gonna mention it today, it's
not in the show plan. But Jack Lighter did start
this week? Did he this weekend? Did he not?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I don't. I mean, I don't pay it that he
did he did?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I know? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:12):
You do?
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Is he? God? Don't lie? Uh? It was bad. It
was against a bad team. The Pirates. He went four innings,
give up five hits, give up three runs, two walks,
two strikeouts. Bad start, got a lost against the Pirates,
the whatever start, But yeah, it's a oh what that's
a whatever. That's not a bad start. Four innings, three earned,
(09:35):
two walks, two strikeouts. Four innings against the freaking Pirates
is not a bad start.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Not a good start. It's not a it's not a
horrific start.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
No, I live in the upside down.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Apparently, three earned runs is not if you give a
three in four innings?
Speaker 1 (09:51):
What's that? E R do the math? Well, it's not good.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
It's good. It's not good, but it's good.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
What's the opposite of good? Oh wait, the word is bad.
I'm starting to wonder if you're Jack Glider's daddy. That's what.
Let's talk about some pictures that are don't get enough credit.
Who've been very solid SETH logo. It's been really solid
since returning from that injury. Tough luck. Unfortunately, no decision
for him, but he had seven strikeouts and six and
(10:17):
a third of a one run variety. That is a
good start, my friends. Andrew Abbott also a good start,
one running seven innings for him, and it went over
to the Cardinals and Slay Chaconi against the Athletics, seven
innings for him as well, shutout innings. Those are all
good starts. When you go four innings against the Pirates
and you give up a run and inding, it's not
a great start. It's not a good start. It's a
(10:38):
bad start. What's also good is Nick Kurtz hitting clean
up for the third straight game. How do you like them? Apples?
And Cam Smith also hitting cleanup Sunday against the Angels.
Now I saw a lot of cam Smith here. Well,
you dropped cam Smith for Grant Holmes from last win. Kid.
Would you make that move.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
In a ten team where you're burning and Churnham players? Yeah? Actually,
I don't know if I made this exact move, but
I had picked up Grant Holmes and put him through
as a starter, and I think I have burned and
turned cam Smith as well. But I think like as
a whole, in a deeper league, i'd want Cam Smith.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Here's another Camps with camp Smith question from Lee. I
just grabbed cam Smith off the waiver wire in a
keeper league? What are people doing? Is he not worth
a benchpot at least? Yeah? He is worth a bench spot, absolutely,
especially he's gonna get clean up and we still have
zero timetable on your now Vera as well, zero and
it's now, I mean, this is a long time. I'm
starting to wonder if we're going to get him back
this year? Are you starting to wonder that as well?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
I don't think we're meant that point, because like they've said,
there's some good positives. I just think it'll be after
the All Star Game, like there's no reason to rush
too crazy. But he hasn't even done anything, so I
think that's on the table, but that's not where I'm
thinking about it. And I'm not sure if that helps
or hurts Cam Smith. I mean it helps that he
moves up in the lineup a little bit, but having
(11:54):
a hitter like that creates more run or slash RBI
opportunities depending where he's hitting. But this reminder, Cam's been
hitting over three hundred through May and two seventy five
in June, so I guess the better way to say
it is like over two seventy five since the beginning
of May. That's pretty dang solid for Cam Smith and
he's carrying that over. So that's why he's so intriguing,
(12:15):
and that's his offensive upside.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
It's a little bit.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Better than you know, like when you're comparing it to
pictures like Grant Holmes or something.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yes, you can blame me by the way. I see
j Man finally listening to Joe P's advice on chris
Dale say young odds and then he got hurt. Hey man,
I'm gonna eat it with you. I'm with you, I'm here,
so we're eating it together. It was good theory. Guys
get hurt. Baseball sucks sometimes. What are you gonna do? Transactions?
That's what we're gonna do next. The Red Sox are
(12:42):
bringing back the old dick Fits. That's right, coming back
Triple A, getting called up, Richard Fitz goes back to
the Red Sox and going down Francisco Alvarez to Triple A.
So most people were not surprised by this. I think
the timing of it was odd, considering you get a
home run on Saturday and they got sent down on Sunday.
(13:03):
So I mentioned to you earlier, I think the Mets
are getting a little frustrated with Alvarez and he could
be one of the guys that could potentially be traded
to bring in more pitching help. I think this is
one of those scenarios where there's a message being sent
to Alvarez in dynasty situations, where people have Alvarez right
now that the profile of him was always going to
be a good offensive catcher right hasn't really materialized yet.
(13:26):
So are you a by low on Alvarez right now
or are you a wait and see here when it
comes to this triple a stint he's going to have
coming up.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
You're talking in dynasty or redraft dynasty. Yeah, so here's
the deal. I don't I'm not a buyer of catchers
any ever. So like maybe if it's dirt cheap and
it's nothing for your Francisco Alvarez, i'd be interested, But
my market is not, like, all right now, I'm going
to get that great value on a catcher, so I
don't want. I think there's still name value that in
the age it's kind of attached to some of it.
(13:57):
That my interest is pretty minimal. But if I have
to pick us, I would probably I guess pick because
presumably his value would be low. I would be on
a buy here. I think he'll probably turn it around.
But he's a volatile hitter, but we're also seeing a
lot of these catchers be volatized. But my interest.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Is very Herrera Adley, as Michael was mentioning too, all
going to the IL. So, yeah, Herrera hit at least right,
he's not hitting, he's not framing Alvarez, not thrown out guys,
not calling the games like it. You're just in a
bad spot here. And I don't know if they they're
also throwing him under the bus because maybe partially how
the pitching has performed lately too. Maybe maybe there's something
(14:35):
tied to that. I mean, they're still one of the
best dras in baseball collectively, but you know that was
always going to regress a little bit. But it's an
interesting period of time for sure. So sometimes the young
players they need more time and sometimes they come up quickly.
And you know what that means. Because it's Monday. It's
time everybody for our favorite Monday segment. It's for prospected
(14:56):
with the Well, that's right, everybody, we're gonna talk to
our well, she's gonna tell us about some prospects we've
got on the back burner. Modern leagues are gonna come
up real quick, through those farm systems, one of which
is going to make a start coming up this week,
and his name is Chase Burns. Because Chase Burns apparently
is ready for the big leagues. A credible season for him,
(15:18):
just incredible. Twenty two years old, he has a one
to seven to seven ERA, a point seven to seven whip,
eighty nine strikeouts, thirteen walks over sixty six innings this year.
He's widely viewed as one of the best prospects in baseball.
When it comes to pitchers and Chase Burns, we thought, Okay,
maybe after the All Star break we're going to see him,
But after being promoted to Triple A, the Reds apparently
(15:40):
have seen enough and he got to headed to the
Reds too. I mean, Hunter Greens really come on this year.
Unfortunately injuries have derailed him yet again, that same groin issue.
Lodolo's been finally I think getting back on track, Andrew
Abbott's been really solid. So Chase Burns if he can
give them quality innings here, Welsh, this is a huge
win for this rotation. But from a fantasy forererspective, are
(16:00):
you ready to trust him in redraft? That I think
is a big question.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yeah, and this is a little different than we usually
do here on the prospecting segment because we know he's
coming up. But I do I do believe we're in
a very weird time right now leading into Futures Game
and All Star Break, where prospects stuff is going to
be kind of wishy washy, you know, like they're making plans,
prospects are already finding out if they're going to the
Futures Game and whatnot. So as far as like what
(16:24):
impactful call ups are going to happen, I think we're
in a little bit of a lull, but it leads
into a super super important thing like you mentioned with
Chase Burns to talk about and another pitch we're going
to get to because Chase Burns, he went full school
of Ret Louder with the Reds, and the Reds had
given us this, you know, this blueprint of how they
were going to do it. I questioned it earlier in
(16:46):
the year, and over the last three weeks we could
see like, no, they're only going to give him three
or four starts in Triple A and he's going to
be at the majors and he's put up some really
great stuff in the minors, So you know, am I
going to trust him?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I think I'm going to jump into the pool because
I think the strikeouts are so high from a stuff perspective.
In Triple A, we got to see some of his data,
hitting ninety eight on average on the fastball, throws a
high upper eighties, just about eighty nine on average slider.
He's heavy fastball slider, throws a ninety mile an hour
change up, which induces a bunch of strikeouts with how
(17:19):
his fastball goes. And then he's got a curve that's
in there, and through Triple A had ten little over
ten k per nine a two ERA in just a
couple of starts. And I think he's going to come
up and I think that combination is going to do
really really well. I mean, his extension is great. I
think Chase Burns I've been arguing with myself in the
(17:40):
prospecting rank world, he might be the number one starting
pitcher in the minor leagues right now. Ironically, we are
going to talk about the other two with this though,
because Chase Burns I think viz for that spot and
Joe I'm going to do the transition into this one
because this is a question that I brought up with
Chase Burns because A, I think Chase Burns you should
go and cup you. I'm comfortable in spots starts. I
(18:03):
think he's here because the Reds are competitive and he
is here to help them win games the rest of
the way through. But here's going to be the number
one question, mister Joe Piezipia. Should I drop Bubba Chandler
for Chase Burns Because you guys asked the same question
last week. Should I drop Misslerowski or should I drop
Bubba Chandler from miss Erowski? And the answer is yes.
(18:25):
It is yes because I'll let you jump into Bubba
and then.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I'm gonna full Daniel Bryant old school yes on you.
I mean, it's what are we waiting for Bubba Chandler? This?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yeah, I've got some takes on Bubba, but I took
the transition or the open from you on it real quick.
If you want to hit the leading into Bubba because
things have been bad for Bubba, he's never coming up.
But I don't think he's coming up anytime soon, my friend.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
I don't either, And look, I don't know what more
there is to be said. I think you had the
fever pitch where the he's pitching very well. They're certainly
rooming that rotation for him, and the Pirates are saying, no,
we're super cheap. This is what we do. We do
we just don't care. And then I don't know if
it was a combination of maybe him getting frustrated and
(19:10):
maybe power. I mean, it happened sometimes, you know, players pout.
Sometimes players get pissed off sometimes that they're not where
they're supposed to be. It sometimes messages with their mental
focus at times too, or we're also seeing maybe there's
something that Pittsburgh saw that they were like, you know what,
we really don't think he's ready and that's what we're seeing.
So I don't know if you want to choose from
colum A or cal him B, But which do you
think is the more likely answer when it comes to
(19:31):
the answer for Bubba Chandler struggles recently.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
I think they used manipulation and it worked out in
their favor because there also was something so I think
it was like, we're the Pirates, why are we rushing him?
You know, we lost Jared Jones, Like we're not gonna
rush it too hard. But they obviously had data across
the board and obvious and you just look at you know,
his stats as well that it was like, all right,
first month was great. If the clock started to tick
(19:56):
into May and June that they had some stuff with
the command. He was really heavy, like when he started,
he was fastball slider, and then it kind of opened
up to some of his secondaries and then it kind
of went back into that same area. But what could
have been manipulation turned into clearly them seeing something because
three of his last four starts in June he has
failed to go three innings. He hasn't even gotten three
(20:20):
innings in three of his last four starts. He has
a June era of over ten. Right now, he has
walked more batters than he's struck out in June four
starts in June. I think he's massively talented. He's got
one of the highest graded fastballs out there. You know,
maybe he's a little bit more too pitchy than they want,
(20:41):
but also he maybe maybe it's confidence. I don't know
what it is, but the results are not there. So
there will be a time where he probably times out
from being in triple A where it's just like there's
no more benefit end of the year. You want to
get him a couple of major league starts and stuff,
but we might just be so far beyond impactful time
(21:02):
on a bad team in general that I hate to
do it because it's like you've held on him for
so long and hopefully he didn't miss out anything. But yeah,
the writing is on the wall now that it's not
just one bad start in June, it's three of four
starts have been bad. He's not going deep. This doesn't
work well for anything, and I can't I now cannot
see him almost until August, to be honest with you,
(21:25):
because you're gonna have a couple more starts before the
futures game, get a rest come back, and I think
we're three weeks to a month out right now. So yeah,
I would cut Bubba Chandler for Chase Burns, if Misrowski,
if Miserrowsi is not going to be out there anymore.
And I might do it for the other picture that
we're going to talk about here in a second as well.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Is he going to be on the futures rosters? Did
they name those rosters yet? I don't think they did.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Players are being informed, but there's not been a formal announcement.
There's almost no way sometimes what they do with these rosters, though,
is it's a popularity contest. But I would I think
it would be very difficult to justify up at Schamdlerck
being on that list. So I'm gonna say, no, he's not.
But you know, it's it's a popularity contest.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
So right, let's talk about Chase the Latter of the
Cleveland Guardians, who twenty one game so far at Triple
A after coming back from an injury, three home runs,
twelve rbi, slashing two ninety seven four eighteen four eighty
six with a nine oh four ops. He's been terrific.
We've waited a long time for Chase the Latter, There's
no doubt about that. He is twenty three years old.
The time is now. The Guardians desperately need some more help.
(22:28):
They can knock Lane Thomas out or somebody out like
I don't care, bring this kid up, let him play
if he's hitting, because Jose Ramirez needs more help beside
Stephen Quad.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
And I think this is one of the few guys,
like you're starting to ask yourself how many more impactful
prospects can really get up to the Major There's tons
of great prospects out there, but you know, if they're
not in Double A, if the Double A even is
just like a tough thing. All of the big, big
guys have gone up, and you could argue maybe the
latter isn't quite that type of player, but you know,
he has been thought of in many circles as like
(23:02):
a high end prospect, but he is. Nobody has had
more injury problems than Chase the latter, So I think
the first thing that the guardians have been trying to
do is just make sure that they can get him
out consistently into games. Well, he's had almost an entire
month in June where he's hitting three forty. This month,
he's finally healthy. He's out of the Complex League. He
was in the Complex League in May, played a little
(23:22):
bit in Triple A in June, and now he's up
full on in June three forty. He's got a couple
homers in there, a couple extra base hits. He's walking,
I believe, Yeah, he's double his walks to strikeouts, which
is something that he just does. He has a really
great batpath. He doesn't swing at bad pitches. He's a
pretty talented guy ran a bunch in the AFL. He
(23:43):
actually would be a very sneaky fantasy value if he
were to come up and play regularly because also the
ballpark benefits him as a left handed hitter. So chase
the lot or someone you should pay attention to. I
think after a month of really good production and being healthy,
the team might bring him up. He's missed so much time,
which is why he might be held back a little bit,
but the latter should be pretty soon. Keep him on
(24:03):
your watch list, and I'd be very interested if he
comes up.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
All right, A couple more guys we're going to talk
about too real quick go to fly through. The first
is Dinier Fuentes, who he touched on last week when
he was making his debut for the Atlanta Brais. While
that happened over the weekend, you know, not the results
we were looking for, but certainly saw some of the
flashes of why the Braves are excited about him. Three strikeouts,
five innings, four earned runs. Again, just twenty years old,
and he's definitely been rushed. He had one start at
(24:27):
Triple A, and the era overall in the minor leagues
this year is high because he's been very limited in
terms of the amount of innings. But now the Chris
Saale injury on top of the A. J. Smith Shauver injury,
the Braves are kind of desperate for starting pitching. The
good news is if you look at the strikeout to
walk rate here for him, it's been very good at
the minor league level this season, so that is a positive.
But at the same time, Welsh, there's certain limitations you're
(24:50):
going to see when it comes to him. Forty eight strikeouts,
by the way, in thirty nine innings, so the strikeout
potentials there are. The stuff is there. The question is
what are you gonna get in term innings out of Fuentes.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yeah, I don't think much. I don't think the fantasy
production is there. If you're getting some spots starts, it's interesting,
you know, like I have like some pseudo interest, I
suppose long term, but the current ball sweeper combination is great,
but the results weren't there. I think with how competitive
this team is going to be, maybe it's something where
you throw in I think I want to say they
(25:21):
did something similar with a bullpen with AJ Smith Shaver
that I think that's where he would end up going
at this age instead of big starts, so redraft perspective,
I'm not super super interested. It was low case after this,
and I wouldn't be trying to jump to pick him up.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Right now, here's a question from Angel, will Painter get
called up this year? Well, that's the next guy on
our list to talk about. Because Andrew Painter allowed two
runs five innings in Saturday in a start at Lehigh Valley.
So thoughts on Painter and where his current situation is
looking at the twenty twenty five season and what's left
of it.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah, so this is the guy. I think I would
just drop Bubba for him, and I hate doing it.
I hate I've been so staunch about this entire process
with Bubba, but like to have it be so bad
in June, I think just screams at us and Andrew Painter.
They had told us from day one that he was
a mid season rotation guy at best, that we're gonna
slow roll him. Well, guess what, it's midtish season and
(26:14):
he is in Triple A. He's got some Triple A
starts and results have been like a little bit varying
in Triple A, but he's got thirty six innings so
far a ten k per nine walks have been up
more than he wants. But he's just got really really
great stuff. Fastball around ninety seven right now, He's got
the slider, the curve, the change of the cutter. I mean,
he's got like four to five pitches he's throwing for
(26:35):
at least double digit percentage of the time. I think
he can help that team win. So I think I
think we're gonna see Andrew Painter before Bubba now, So yeah,
I think I would go and pick up Andrew Painter.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
And one of the guy too to just throw out
there too. Jonah Toongu. I know we don't talk a
lot about the Double A guys, but eleven strikeouts, seven
to two thirds for him, I assume he's gonna get
promoted pretty soon to Triple A. But just keep a
note of him in those deeper leagues too. Because the
Mets has some issues here with some of the starting pitchers.
Maybe he gets a couple of spots starts. It's not impossible.
I think it's unlikely. I also think it's even more
(27:06):
unlikely the Mets trade him. But in terms of dynasty assets,
that are pretty high. If you are out of it.
Right now, it looks like Jonah Tong might be a
guy you want to acquire and trade off some pieces
to start rebuilding. He might be a nice building block
of your rotation for the future. And that, my friends,
is prospecting with the Welsh. Make sure you follow us
on Fantasy pros MLB for more prospect talk and more
(27:27):
fantasy baseball. Let's get to the fun facts. Ronald Acunya
going into the weekend, I scored twenty seven runs. That's
twenty seven of the one hundred and eleven runs for
the Braves in twenty six games since coming off the
injured list. That's nearly a quarter of the runs the
Braves have scored belonged to Ronald Acunya. I just thought
that was incredible. He's hitting three to ninety with a
(27:47):
five hundred OVP and a six ninety slugging since he's
been back. I think he's healthy. I think he's pretty good.
Michael Soroka weird one ten strikeouts career high against the Dodgers.
No less you want to chase this.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I'd be interested in chasing this. Like Spots starting a
five ERA and expected three point one six, So three
point one nine, so almost the Austin three one six
I expected three point one nine with a twenty almost
twenty seven percent k percent and six percent walk rate.
Those look really good. You're getting run support with Washington. Yes,
Michael Soroka is someone to a spot start and maybe
(28:23):
even look a little bit further to hold on to.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Also another fun fact here throw out there, Lucas Gilio
has three straight quality starts. Well, he's really turning things around.
Walker Bueller, on the other hand, I think he. I
think the letters DFA are gonna be very close to
uh Walker buelers They're not going to DFA.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
But how much longer he can stay in there?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
I think JR. I think he gets DFA. I think
they send him away and they bring up Kyle Harrison.
I think that Kyrison gets two starts at Triple A.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
See, I think they have the DFA him to bring
up Kyle Harrison.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
I think they want to. I think they want to.
I don't know I'd want to. If I was them,
I'd want to send that message year gone. We try.
It's a one year contract. Scroom, get rid of them,
stop paying now, get out. Let somebody else try to
pick someone might put him on waivers. Who know, so
we might to pick him up. Let's go, three up,
three down. Over the weekend, won Soto four for five
with two homers on Saturday, where the Mets hit seven
(29:15):
solo home runs that was a record. Max Munsey homer
twice yesterday and drove in seven runs. Usual day for him,
and Byron Buckson continues to play baseball, which is great.
Three for five, a steal and two solo homers against
the Brewers yesterday. The downs my boy, David Peterson, he
did struggle unfortunately, five runs, six hits against the Phillies.
Brandon Fott he still stinks. Four runs, five innings for
(29:35):
him and David Festa eight earned runs, four and two
thirds and a loss to the Brewers. Yikes. I think
the Twinkies have to start to have some real conversations
about the what's left of this pitching staff between Bailey,
Ober and Festa and then Zebi on the IL and
Lopez on the IL. I think the Twins should also
call it a season. I think they should start to
(29:56):
be sellers as well.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
What do you think, Oh, that would be interesting. I
mean trading Buxton. Buckston's got immense.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I was thinking, but yeah, yeah, who oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah, I mean maybe yeah, you really want Doran to
be shipped.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I don't. I just think that that's a guy that,
you know, if I was looking for a bullpen help man,
that's the guy I would want.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
The thing about the Twins, though, is it's like they're
to me, they're kind of like the d Backs, where
it's one of these teams that way underperformed, but the
core of their roster it's like, oh, you could be
a winner, like you, but injuries have taken away. So
it's like, do you want to dismantle this team and
try to retread it and takes two or three years,
or is it like, all right, we'll just pack it
in for next year, do what we can and not
(30:36):
trade any massive assets. By that, you probably wouldn't trade
a Duran, probably wouldn't trade a Buston. You would just trade,
you know, just little fluffy assets that are floating around
to have one year deals that don't impact the starters
and or you know, that are blocking young guys or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Flufy, I like them. I want more fluey discussions injuries
the biggest one, obviously over the weekend, Chris sale fifteen
day il with a fractured rib cage. This is Terrible's
terrible for Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
He did it on the dive in the I that
diving catch he had at like tweh six or whatever.
That's what fractured the rib sucks.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
So what's the return time for fractured rib doctor Welsh.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Do we have I'm the great one to ask. I
assume this will be This will be a month because
he's not going to pitch until the All Star Game.
Then you take the weekend off. Maybe it's four week
I don't know if it takes longer than that, but
I would assume this is a forty.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
One to three weeks, depending on severity.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
So even more so, guarantee he's not coming back to
a post All Star game. Make sure he's good, make
sure he's healthy, he's recovered. That gives you roughly three
weeks three and a half weeks or so. I mean
June twenty third All Star weekend. I think it's like
the thirteenth or fourteenth or something like that. So maybe
he doesn't start until post All Star break, which is
not the worst thing in the world, especially for him
(31:53):
and health going forward. Fantasy it really sucks. It sucks
for Joe. Joe had for sale. And it's our last
week of our regular season in our Fantasy pros league.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
And I beat our boss, so I have leapfrogument in
the standings. Now I have to outscore him to hold
the lead. I have a half game lead.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
So well, I want for one one. I'm going for
a big promotion, so I let our boss are the
president that me win.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
I'm looking to get fired. Whoat, thanks for cheering, appreciate you.
Let's get you on here. Who at for a cheering
on a question here? That is Max Fried Strider or
fran Bervaldez rest of season? Why do I have to choose? Oh,
you're just trying to look at target one in the trade?
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Is that we're looking or both Chase Burns Miserowski holds
in twelve teamers O. The question in general is, yeah,
that's very weird.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
I would if I can only pick one guy, Freed's
been the best of all of them.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Yes, outside Freed with the floor would be the guy.
And then Chase and Miserowski both are potential holds in
twelve teams. I mean, how can you cut Miserowski right now?
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Went like eleven notes Towski.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
I'm not cutting Miserowski for Burns period. I'd rather Misrawski
them Burns if I can only have one. If I'm
looking to target one of these three pitchers in a trade,
I can only assume that's what we're talking about here.
Any of the three, whoever comes cheapest to you is
the best. That's the right answer.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
But I think the order is how he wrote it though.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Well, but I don't understand, like, it's not like you're
dropping any of those guys. It's not that kind of scenario.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
No, But if it's if it's like, what's the order
of who you'd want to go acquire, that's the order.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
And yeah, I would agree that's but it's.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Like if you had to pay a lot more for
Freed and.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Looking to target pictures in a trade. So there you go.
That was the answer. So again my answer is whoever
comes cheaper if you get Framber Valdez considerably cheaper. Okay,
if it's the same cause as getting Strider or getting Freed,
I'd rather have one of those guys. I think that
makes sense. Hunter Dobbins goes in the il. So another
one bites the dust here, That's how Richard Fitz came
back up. Jackson Merrill comes off the il yesterday from
(33:49):
the concussion protocol, so that's good. Nadie Valdi might make
his next start. But in the majors, I'm kind of shocked.
I know, they did like a fifty pitch side session
with him, so they say, no, he's good, he's just
gonna go back to the rotation. I never love that, Welsh.
I'm not gonna lie, so I'd hold my breath, but
I probably start him because he's been so good this year.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Fly as somebody that you know lives out here and
has like the complex level and sees a lot of
these rehabby starts. I'm so interested the logic between we're
gonna send this guy out and we're gonna have him
throw versus he won't even ever see a minor league
rehab start and we're just gonna throw him back in
the majors. More often than not it is older guys,
(34:29):
but still, like what was the was were those little
sessions so competitive with the guys at the stadium?
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Like, why, Welsh, I'll be honest with you, I think
it's a matter of again, the stress that they've taken
Jack Lighter stinks. They have Molly on the il like
they kind of need starts, Like, if you're gonna have
him go seventy five pitches, you might as well give
you seventy five pitches at the big league game. I
think that's the Rangers Tholl process. They're they're right there
in this thick of the wildcar. There are a couple
of games out, So why not take those innings, for
(34:57):
better or worse and put him in the major leagues.
I think that that's the thought process.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I just like I you're right.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Sometimes they go over the place.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah, the lost thought, I guess I'm talking more of
the not like him specifically. It's the overarching like what
is the reasoning that this team does this? And this
team says now we're not gonna even do rehab starts.
It'll come to like Otani's was very specific. Otani was like, hey, listen,
I'm throwing these competitive sessions. Why don't I just do
this in the majors and give you guys one inning
when we're using openers anyways, I want to do that there.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Instead, Sotani gonna go one inning. Anybody can come out now, I.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Mean he was only doing them at the stadium anyway.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
So all right, Max Scherzer said he's going to be
activated on Wednesday, so we'll see how along that last na.
The Rutchman again we mentioned, is gonna be out through
the All Star break with the oblique. He's on the il.
Right Yarborough goes on the IL with an oblique strains,
so I won't see him for a while. But Tyler
Glass now two scoreless innings and rehabit ninety eight on
the wire. Uh and uh, the old radar Gun. I
(35:52):
made trade for Glass now in my home league and
push it in. I'm in the playoffs right now in
terms of like standings, so I traded some pieces, taking
a shot on Glass now Strider and Glass now in
that league with Pepio, Peralta and Perez, all the peas.
I got all those guys there. At some point in time,
maybe Brandon Woodruff before I die, we'll get a Brandon Woodroff.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Brandon Woodriff Woodroff.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
It's time for the best bets of the day. Joey
b in the Welsh. Let's start with the Los Angeles
Angel Levana him on the money line against do against Walker, Buehler.
That's right, Walker b it's time for you. This is
your DFA start. See you later, buddy. Plus one hundred
on the money line. I'm getting right now. I'm gonna
take it. Plus. You'd also say that Mike Trout has
(36:40):
really good numbers in his career against Walker Bueller. So
give me a Trout to score a run here plus
one thirty. Then on give me the Chicago Cubs money
line at minus one oh six. Because why Ben Brown
is pitching at night? He is a three e r
A in the evening and almost an eight e r
A when it comes to day games. So as long
as Ben Brown is not seeing the sun, we're okay.
(37:02):
It's all about the moonlight. Ben Brown likes to dance
in the moonlight. Welsh. Let's let's go your bets, bets
for on Monday morning.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Here, now, let's do it. How you said that?
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Yeah, let's look at the movie bets.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah. Well, well, Joe, and what I got here is I've.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Got there you hey.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
You guys you heard about this. No, I just lost
it as soon as I did it. I got the thing.
But I could Arizona first five money line. I've not
been back in the Diamondbacks a whole bunch, particularly at Wardo.
Rodriguez is a weird one, but you know he's put
some good starts together. It's against a White Sox, and
I mean, look at the line, like minus one twenty
first five, that's the money line through the first five innings. Yes,
(37:46):
you're without Corby and Carrol, but there's still the White Sox.
You still have Katel Marte. As long as the Wardo
doesn't do the like I throw eighty seven down the
middle and bombs just start flying. Arizona first five money line.
I really really like this one. At minus one twenty,
I'm going Seattle first five run line, and that is
a strict go against Bailey Over. Bailey Over has been
(38:07):
poop squad douche and you've got Brian Wu on the mount,
who I think is going to hold that offense down.
They need to score one run through the first five
and that is almost even money. And then let me
take Milwaukee run line minus one and a half. I
am just picking on Braxton Ashcraft, who's making his I
guess it's not his major league start. He's had some appearance,
(38:29):
but he's gonna be pitching for the pirates. Brewers offense
been great. Chat Patrick has been really good, So I
am betting on the Brewers to win by two full game.
Arizona first five money line, Seattle first five run line,
and Milwaukee run line full game. Those are my best
bets of the day.
Speaker 1 (38:46):

matter doesn't matter. Well, I had one from Judge over
the weekend, so I don't know did you get one.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
I'll never get one again.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
So we're tied. So we are officially tied, which means
now it's on. It's on, baby. I'm going Mike Trout
plus two eighty five for a dinger today. Welsh, where
are you going for your home run call?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Give me James Wood? James would good one with the
home run call? They are I just completely forgot up
and oh yes, Stephen kolek Oh, this is the stat
I love, not really in a great set. Stephen Kulik
has given up seven homers over his last two starts,
seven home runs over his last two starts. So I'm
gonna go with one of the best left handed power
(40:13):
hitters in the game in James Wood.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
There we go, everybody. Tomorrow, We're gonna vote for our
