Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's going on? Everybody, Welcome into Fantasy Pros. This is
Leading Off Live. I'm your host, Joe Alrico today joined
by Casey Bubba. If you guys were listening to these
podcasts at the end of last season, the two of
us took you home through the final six weeks or
so of the fantasy baseball season. And there's no Chris Welsh,
there's no Joe piez Apia, so we are going to
have some fun today. Bubba, it is great to have

(00:26):
you back on the pod, my friend.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
How you been doing I am doing great, my friend.
It's good to be back. It's a last couple of
months of the baseball season. It just feels right me
and you, Joe taking it home absolutely.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Man, it's been way too long since we've talked. And
if anybody on the show is new this year and
they're not familiar with you, I just want to give
you a chance. Let everybody know what you got going on,
what it is you do in the space, and where
can people find.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
You can find me on the old Twitter there at
b d Intrich, so I got that going. But it's
the Bubba and the Bloom Patreon for the most part,
with myself and Ryan Bloomfield. We do that. We do
two shows a week about podcast. Obviously a lot of
content over there right for fantasy pros, Baseball HQ, and
much much more. So. Yeah, it's good to be back.
And we don't stop until September thirtyeth I guess yes,

(01:12):
we don't.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Stop until Game one sixty two is in the books.
We will be here for you for the rest of
the season Monday Wednesday Friday for September. Like we've mentioned before,
it'll be a little bit different, but in August Monday Wednesday,
myself and Welshee and then on Fridays the Joe and
Bubba Show. As you guys saw at the end of
last season. Now, one of the beautiful things about me
getting to host the show is that I get to

(01:34):
make the show sheet and that means we get to
talk about the Toronto Blue Jays right off the top here.
They had a ridiculous series against the Rockies. I know,
most teams going to Colorado and they put up some
crooked numbers, but Toronto had forty five runs, including a
major league record sixty three hits in their three game
series against the Rockies. My main reason for bringing this

(01:54):
up is to get your opinion on what you think
the Blue Jays are, Bubba, do you think this is
a legitimate team that has World Series aspirations at this
point or are they a team that's maybe overperforming and
one that people should probably expect to come back down
to Earth before the end of the season.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
It's like, I don't know if the World Series aspirations.
I definitely think they're going to contend for a playoff spot,
maybe even surprise people with a pitch for the Al East.
I'll give you that much. It all comes down to
that pitching staff, because the offense I'll like a ton,
especially if you get these young kids to keep hitting
like low Berfito and Barger and company. That goes along
the ways. You've got the resurgence of your boy Boba Schett.
You know, for good goodness gracious, if Flad finally hits

(02:32):
home runs like you guys could take it to a
whole other level with that team. It just comes down
to pitching, though, Like it's a yearly tradition with them.
Cam Burio's doing enough, Ken Gosplan doing enough, can suresers
fingers stay healthy, so on and so forth. If the
pitching's good. You guys could make things scary. There's no
doubt about it. Is it wasn't and it's not just
the Rocky series. So I'm going to give you the
I'll give the non homer take to this. Like, this

(02:52):
team's been playing very, very good baseball since at least
the break, maybe a little before that. It is a
competitive team. You don't want to face them if you
have a streamable pitcher, like this is a good, good
ball club and they just happen to take advantage of
a just disgraceful baseball organization in Colorado.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
If you look at the era, so the Rocky staff,
it is really rough. Like Senza tells, hurt now but
goneber Freeland. Like you look at these numbers, thirty plus starts,
thirty thirty one starts of a six to seven era,
it's got to be demoralizing for these guys. Fife in
the chat is asking about any word on Springer. He
has not been able to make any rehab appearances yet.

(03:28):
Concussions are just finicky injuries. Sometimes they heal quickly, sometimes
it takes a lot longer, and they can recur later on.
So we're gonna just have to play the waiting game
with George Springer at this point in time. So because
there was a short slate on Thursday, I've kind of
mixed Wednesday and Thursday's games here into the headline. So
let's talk to Avin Williams took a no hitter into

(03:49):
the ninth inning against the Mets before Wan Soto took
him deep to center field. That one was on Wednesday,
over one hundred and twenty five innings. Now he has
a three seventeen ERA but still a one thirty whip.
So what do you make of Gavin Williams. Is he
somebody that you can project you're going to be interested
in heading into next season. Where is your evaluation out
on him? Because he's somebody that doesn't give you a

(04:09):
ton of strikeouts, there was the injury last season. I
feel like he's a very tough eval At the moment,
Gavin Williams is, well.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's about a caper inning, so it's not like it's
a zero burger in the strikeout collumn. But the walks
are just they kill you. And it's been this way
all season long. Like at four walks in that no
hit bid, that's that's going to make things tight he
had a couple of starts or it wasn't bad. But
it comes down to the control. With him, it's getting
you know, Tanner Bibbey's kind of a cursed name these days,
but there's a lot of Tanner Biby feels when Tanner

(04:38):
was younger. With this Gavin Williams thing. There's a lot
of similarities there. The skills are good with Gavin Williams,
he just hasn't put it together. So will I'll be interested, Yes,
at the right cost. That's the lazy answer, but because
I think a lot of people are kind of jaded
by what the things you mentioned. The whip is bad,
he doesn't go deep into games because of the pitch
count sometimes and so on and so forth. You're getting

(04:59):
okay strike you're getting a three one seven era. I
think that's you know, the the x fips and the
scias are closer to four, but still in its area
of baseball. You'll take that where he's getting drafted. So
I'm interested. Got to be cautious though, because his whip
could just destroy you.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, he is a tricky one. Like I remember, coming
into the year, a lot of people were really interested
because of spring training. I was a little bit worried
because of his injury last year, where some people thought
he was going to need surgery. He chose to go
for the rest and rehab route, which can work, sometimes
it doesn't work. I think overall he's been pretty successful.
That whip is not pretty. But if you're getting that
low era like which like I probably was a little

(05:36):
bit too hard on him with the strikeout, it's one
hundred and twenty three and one hundred and twenty five
innings is fine. He's somebody that I really am going
to be interested to see the price on next year,
and I honestly have no idea where to even predict
that at this point. Top one hundred and fifty pick
feels about right. Somewhere in the top one hundred and
fifty or so.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, give or take, he's probably like a top He's
around like a top thirty five fortieth sp probably maybe
maybe higher, But that's where my brain's at right now.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah, that does feel about right. Let's talk about Jacob Lopez,
who had a phenomenal start against the Nationals yesterday seven
and two thirds scoreless while striking out ten, and now
he's gone three consecutive starts without giving up an earned run,
bringing the era down to three five nine and the
whip to one twenty five. Is Jacob Lopez somebody that
if you see him available in a league, you'd be
jumping at him right now, throwing your top waiver priorities,

(06:21):
big FAB money at him. Or do you think this
is more just a little bit of a decent run
that he's been on as something you can't really trust
moving forward.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
I'm always worried about that ballpark next week he pitches
in Sacramento, always a concern. I think he's very streamable
on the road. He's had good starts in that ballpark,
so that's why it's just a tricky one with that scenario,
et cetera. Health park. I like the skills of Jacob Lopez.
It's going to be an up and down roller coaster.
Though it's definitely a matchup dependent situation. So I would

(06:50):
not be breaking the bank in FAB for whatever fab
you have left left this week, but I'd be checking
the schedule. There will be a couple more starts it.
He'll be very very usable this year.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah, what do you think the line is? If you're
like at a fifteen team league and he's out there. I
think you kind of have to take the chance on him.
If it's a twelve team league, I think that's where
maybe he's more streamable, and then tens maybe you don't
worry about it. Does that sound about right?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Oneah, Like twelve's he's a stream, tends he's like a
deep deep stream. Fifteen's he's at least on your bench,
like he should be rostered pretty much everywhere there.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
I think that's totally fair. Let's talk to Ury Perez.
He had his first kind of stinker in a while.
He hadn't allowed more than two earned runs in a
game since June twenty seventh. The Braves got to him
for five over five and a third, which is kind
of amazing, just because the Braves have been a huge
dud this year for being honest. But the big stary
Ury Prez just one strikeout over those five innings. Any

(07:44):
concern here or is this just a poor start that
we're willing to throw away.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
I'm going to go with this just a poor start
we're willing to throw away. That's kind of where I'm
at on this one. He's been so good to your
point for so long this season. Every pitcher. You just
mentioned de Gram when we were off like he got
Kevin Newman took him deep. Pitchers will have bad days
at the ballpark, and especially a young arm like Gary
Prez coming off injury. That is concerning. You mentioned the

(08:09):
one K. His swinging strike was at seven point three
percent in that game. That's not great at ninety one
percent zone contact, so they were they were locked in.
He wasn't really full in anybody in Atlanta, which is
crazy because they're not good. So yeah, I would, I'd
be okay with YI. If it's a couple starts to row,
then we might have another conversation.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
In terms of looking ahead to twenty twenty six. We'll
start to do that a little bit over the last
couple months. Do you think he's a top ten starter,
top fifteen, top twenty Off the top of your head,
where do you think he would roughly land for you
if you had to make rankings today.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
He's a top twenty just because of the youth aspect
and still the injury concerns. Like a healthy year, he
is outstanding. Maybe an early hot take for twenty twenty six,
And obviously we have no idea about ADP. I'll be
doing a draft in twelve days actually, But we have
no idea on any of this. But I think his

(09:01):
teammate Edward Cabrera is a lot closer than people think
to him, and you'll get him a lot later in drafts,
a lot later in drafts, and that's where I'd try
to like kind of decide do I want to take
a risk on Uri Early, who I think the ceiling's
much higher than Edward. I'm not going to deny that,
but I think if we're just looking at, you know,
a thirty start season might not be that far apart, you.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Know what, you might be honest something there. Edward Cabrera
was such a darling in the industry for so many
years and then people kind of got sick of him,
and that's right when he has a great season. I
was kind of hoping my Blue Jays would be interested.
I was thinking that maybe Miami would start a bit
more of a fire sale than they did. Edward Cabrera's
probably in Miami, Eury Pez are going to be there,
Sandy who knows what happens with Sandy in the offseason.

(09:42):
But I'd be interesting for sure to follow the ADPs
of all those guys, Sandy, I wonder what the interest
level is going to be. But that the discussion for
another day. We could spend a whole podcast talking about
Sandy al Contre. Let's talk about Kate Horton. Something a
little more positive. Five and two thirds against the Reds
and did not allow a run yet again. The last
time he did allow a run it was nearly a
month ago on July ninth against the Twins. He has

(10:02):
a scoreless streak of over twenty three innings at this point,
Kate Horton is looking pretty damn good, Bubble. What's your
interest level going forward this season and again heading into
next year? What's your interest level you think going to be?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Like on Kate Horton, I'm just so triggered by him.
I guess is the word, because it's been great of late.
To your point, he had some really really rough starts.
He's no Ben Brown, but he's had some rough starts.
He doesn't have a pitching profile that fits my fantasy interest.
He has, you know, fifty nine k's and seventy nine

(10:33):
and the third eighting's pitched. The guy has a ten
point four percent katea walk. So we're talking a lot
of contact most likely if he's doing things so he's
getting away with it, which is great, but that fantasy
profile just doesn't interest me. Now. If he goes, he's
still super young. There's a lot of things that can change.
He just mentioned Edward Cabrera as an option. So let's say,

(10:54):
you know, he goes and gets a pitch mixchange, or
we see different things, takes another little step. Interest could change,
but for now I'm pretty much not happening.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Yeah, I think that's about right. I added him in
a couple of leagues for that start against Cincinnati. I'll
probably play him until he burns me. But I think
I agree with the strikeouts being where they are a
little bit concerning, for especially if you're in a shallow
league and you can't really afford to have no strikeouts coming,
because sometimes you're gonna get one or two, maybe three
strikeouts from him, and that's a little bit tough to

(11:21):
work around in a lot of cases, especially because we
know that this scoreless streak is not going to last forever.
Let's talk Trevor Rodgers, because I was so so off
on Trevor Rodgers when they made that trade last year.
I remember talking with bloom about it actually and thinking
the Marlins stole. The Marlins literally committed larceny and it
looked like they did. Kyle Stowers, I mean, hitting three

(11:43):
hundred and twenty five home run See, he's been great.
But then Trevor Rodgers, he's got a one to forty
four ERA and at point eighty three whip six innings
of one run ball against the Phillies the other day.
This feels pretty legitimate. But I'll ask you, Bubba, is
this just who Trevor Rodgers is now? As he fixed this,
he back to who he was as a rookie? Or
is this simply a hot ten starts that people are
going to be fooled by.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I want to say he's fixed. I really do. It's
always scary with the picture because it's just one tweak
and it's gone. But dude's twenty seven, Like, how could
he could easily be a fix? It's not like he's
he feels like he's been around forever. That's kind of
part of the joke. Like he gets traded and then
you know, Stours goes nuts and so on and so forth.
Now it's like the trade looks pretty darn good for
both sides, if you really want to look at it.

(12:26):
I made a joke with Ryan on Thursday Nights Fab
preview we did. I was like, looking at the Orioles
rotation and outside of Trevor Rodgers, it's all garbage, which
I never thought I would say like this is. It's
just it's funny watching how things change, and I think
it's legit. You gotta trust it as legit. The control
is outstanding, he's getting the whiffs. It just looks like
a guy that you know, went to the miners for
a bit in Baltimore and maybe they figured something out.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
I'm so shocked. I was so out on him for years.
And the funny thing is, I forget who said this,
and I said it to wellshe other day too. The
big pitching pickups of the second half to win your league,
Trevor Rodgers and Eric don't know who would have forecasted
that one. No one saw that in the tea leaves.
But no one saw Josh Naylor steal only twenty one
bases either. We'll talk about him coming up a little job,

(13:09):
not even Josh, not anybody. I don't think one more
piece of news in the headlines. Junior Camman Arrow two
home runs on Wednesday. Kind of surprised me that he's
already up to thirty home runs for the season. He's
a number four second or excuse me, number four third
baseman on the year according to the Fangrass player raider
behind Jose Ramirez, Manny Machado, au Haanio Suarez. I don't
know how good he could potentially be, like the ceiling

(13:33):
could be, like a Manny Machado, another version of Manny Machado,
maybe who doesn't steal as many bases. I think Junior
Camanaro could potentially sneak into the end of the second
round next year, maybe even higher than the end of
the second round, maybe mid second round, like that Austin
Riley range, Raphael Devers range in the last couple of years.
Is that where you you think he's gonna probably end
up somewhere the second round pick next year?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
One hundred percent the last two names you mentioned. Machado,
I think he's a Riley Devers type, like he's gonna
get you five, maybe run into ten steels once in
a while. But the dude's got forty home run power
and he's still twenty two years old. So who knows
where he really you know, flourishes too. I was all
in on him this year because he was so cheap
early on for US degenerates that draft early and then

(14:15):
that ADP just started skyrocketing, and I kind of started
stepping back a bit. Not happy I did that, but
I believe what we're seeing. I think it's legit and
it also helps. Let's let's timper a few things that
that home ballpark does help, sure, and that won't be
where he's at forever, so let's keep that in mind.
But I still think he's at least a thirty home
run guy. The Raffie Devers Austin Riley pocket is very good.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Now. He just missed out on being a rookie because
of his eligibility. The at bats were just over last year.
Let's say he was a rookie eligible player this year.
Would you vote for him or for Nick Kurtz as
Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Wow, that's a great question. That's why you're hosting the show.
I think I'm going Cam, but Nick Kurtz has been
unruly like that's crazy. But I think I'm going Cam
and Erra mainly because he's done it the entire season. Yeah,
but maybe it's more impressive that Kurtz has done it
in a smaller So that's a conversation that I wouldn't

(15:14):
complain either way.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah. I mean we got two comments right away when
I asked that, and one of them said Kurtz. One
of them said Cam and Arrow. So I think it
would be pretty interesting. It's unfortunate that we don't get
to have that kind of battle. It looks like Nick Kurtz.
I think he's like minus seven thousand for Rookie of
the Year at this point, so I think that one's
probably pretty much signed away. But let's talk about something
we are giving away here at Fantasy Pros, and that

(15:37):
is a signed Billy Wagner Mets jersey. It is a
beautiful jersey. We got the graphic up here on the screen.
Thank you CALLI. I love that orange and blue color scheme.
I'm not a Mets fan by any stretch of the imagination,
but this is a nice jersey. Very easy to get
yourself a chance to win it by subscribing to the
Fantasy Pros MLB YouTube channel. You comment on a video
and that's it. If you're watching on Twitch, hop over

(15:59):
to the YouTube if you're listen on the podcast feed
hop over, leave a couple of comments, tell us how
happy you are the Joey p is not here and
Joe and Welsh is not here anymore, and you can
get a chance to win this. Billy Wagner signed Jersey.
Let's take a couple of questions from the audience. Here,
does Bobaschetz re sign in Toronto?

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I know what your heart says, what's reality save?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
But my heart says yes. I mean, I've seen him
projected for like a two hundred and fifty million dollar contract.
Feels about right considering what he's given you, like four
to five win seasons with the three hundred batting average,
twenty plus homers. I don't think he does come back
at the end of the day. I feel like somebody
is going to outbid Toronto. What do you think, Bobba,
Do you think this is his last year as a
Blue Jay?

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Uh? Yeah, I think so. I think if whatever money
they have and need to throw it to that first
baseman you have, so I think I think Bo's going
to be gone unless we see a whole new pocket
of money that Toronto hasn't been willing to show for
a long time.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
We'll see. I mean, they definitely ope opened up the
coffers with that Vladie deal. Will they do it twice
in the span of six months or so, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
For Roger, it would be a good way to do it,
keep those two locked up for like career. Jay's like,
that's a great way to do it.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I'd love Yeah, I'd love it, but I'm not expecting
it at this point. Any news on Dylan Cruz. I
know he's rehabbing. I saw he had a home run
the other day. I think that he is probably a
decent stash. You have to also remember that he wasn't
great before and that the Nationals team around him is
a huge dumpster fire. But I think he's still probably
worth stashing. You know, it can help you with speed
down the stretch, specifically in those roto leagues, if you

(17:31):
need to catch up on some speed. I think he
is worth a stash to you.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, he's a stash. They want to get him a
bunch of at bats in the miners because he's been
out for so long. So maybe next week we see
him coming up. But yeah, he's rehabbing his close speed machines,
so I agree with the rico on that.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Are we starting Chase Burns and Aaron Savali in a
points league?

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Today?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Chase Burns is getting Pittsburgh. I'm going to talk about
him a little bit later on, and I would be
starting him. Savally is starting against who is the Valley
up against today? Cleveland? So I think they're both pretty
viable starts. I think they're both.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
They're both in play, and with Chase Burns, you start
every single time because even when he gives, he has
a six cyra, but he also has an over a
thirty percent KA walk. In a points league, those strikeouts
are just gonna skyrocket. So he has ten k's in
his last three starts. We're not counting the inning in Bristol,
Like you just played Chase Burns for now.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, ten strikeouts and those three consecutive starts. He looked
like he was well on his way before that game
got rained out with two in the first. This one
is kind of tricky. McKenzie gore is on my waiver wire?
Is he worth a pickup?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
I don't know the size of the league for one,
but like twelve team or less, I understand the drops
like and I could see he's almost I really hate
to say this because I was full of McKenzie Gore.
I have a lot of McKinsey Gore. He's kind of
in that that Lopez share section we talked about earlier,
like streamable in the right matchups. But things aren't great

(18:57):
right now with McKinsey gore.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Man we've gone from young candidate is streamable in the
right matchups. It's been a tough year for mackenzie Gore,
and we were talking about this the other day. He
just falls apart in the summer months, Like the first
couple months of the season and September are good, and
then June, July, August he has like a sixyra It's awful.
Joe good friend, great guy to follow on Twitter, bench

(19:20):
sanga today versus Brewers gets the Braves next, Would you
start him?

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Probably? Would.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
The Braves aren't really scaring me away right now.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
I would too. They'll have their fluky games like the
DIDG and Jutory Praz, but as a whole it's a
quality lineup, so you take your chances there. The biggest
thing it's not who singer's facing, is can you not walk?
Five guys? If he's not walking guys. He pitches well,
and it's pretty much everybody.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
So yeah, yeah, here's one more we'll do for now,
nineteenth round Jeremy Pania as a keeper or twenty fourth
round O'Neill Cruz. My gut tells me O'Neil Cruz. But
Panya has been unbelievable this year. It's a tough call.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
I love Paanya. If you want just to balance twenty five,
twenty five, twenty twenty type guy, you go paying Yet.
But if you want to shoot the moon, you go
Neil Cruz because everyone like the comp is lazy. But
he's basically an Ellie Daily Cruiz, not even a light.
It's kind of in between a light and the Ellie
Da La Cruz. So he's that good.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, it's a tricky one for me. I don't know
that I feel strongly about it, Like I think I'd
probably go with Cruise, but I honestly don't have like
a super strong opinion. I think they're both really really
good options. Let's talk about a fun fact here. Max
Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw will face off against each other

(20:37):
for what'll likely be the last time in their careers tonight.
It probably will be almost a guarantee. Their first matchup
came in two thousand and eight, where they both served
as last minute replacements. This is a graphic that had
gone around on Twitter and Instagram for years. The two
pitches that they replaced seventeen years ago in that start
Randy Johnson and Greg Maddox. They were last minute replacements

(20:58):
for those two, and coming on, I'm not sure how
they did in that game, to be perfectly honest with you,
but kind of interesting that those are the two guys
they filled in for. They both ended up having Hall
of Fame careers. Pretty slam dunk first ballot Hall of Famers.
Let's get to the three up and the three down.
On the up, Paul skeins through six scoreless innings and
struck out eight against the Reds. He has a one
to ninety four ERA and a point nine to three

(21:20):
whip over one hundred and forty four innings. And this
is a crazy stat Bubba. It was the first time
in his forty seven starts that he had allowed seven
hits to his opponent. The first forty six starts were
six hits or less two straight seasons. Now where we
have a sub to ERA and that's how people saying
we've never seen a pitcher like Skins before. At first
I was scoffing at it, but tomor I think about it,
Maybe we haven't.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah, we got like one or two seasons of Pedro.
That's about the closest thing I can think of off
the top of my head, because like Maddox was always great,
he wasn't the strikeout guy. Pedro was what Skeens is.
But Pedro got wins because the Pirates stink. So that's
the difference we have. Skeen's a beast. It's absolutely impressive
what he's doing.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Uh. Next up on the up NL Rookie of the
Year favorite Drake Baldwin hit two home runs on Thursday
against the Marlins, went three for five, drove in five runs.
Just a great game from him. And then Shane Smith
struck out eight over five innings of two run ball
against the Mariners. I don't know what to make of
Shane Smith, because he was an All Star, probably not deservingly,
had some kind of rough outings around that time, but
he's also had some stretches this year where he's been very,

(22:20):
very serviceable. I wonder what he is going to turn
into eventually. Is he somebody you could see yourself being
interested in for twenty twenty six drafts.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
If he's free like he was this year, possibly White
Sox pitcher is gonna always take a massive hit in
the wind department. So and I agree, like I've streamed
him at times this year, I've also started him when
he's gotten destroyed. There's I haven't even found a rhyme
or reason to who Shane Smith is right now.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah, I know spor was interested in him, and I
think he took him in a couple of drafts. And
I mean there's been times this year where he's been
completely unstartable and there's been stretches where he's been like
a must roster type of player, especially in deeper league.
So we'll have to see. But like you said, the
White Sox, any pitcher on the White Sox is gonna
win five or seven games in the season, which you
have to factor in to your evaluations as well. Let's

(23:05):
talk about the downs. Brady Singer lasted just three and
two thirds against the Pirates, allowing four runs and four
walks while striking out just two. This one stinks because
it was a very low volume day. Yesterday, he was
looking like the best streamer on the board, and he
did not do anything for you. Carlos Carrasco allowed six
or in runs on nine hits and two walks while
striking out just two. Please retire Carrasco. I don't know

(23:25):
what we're doing anymore. This is just sad at this point.
And then hey, you Hanio Suarez zero for five with
three strikeouts yesterday a little bit tough, but I don't
think there's really anything of note there with Suarez, just
a bad game. Let's talk about the injuries you mentioned
him earlier. Josh Naylor had to leave Thursday's game with
shoulder soreness and is considered day to day. Do you
think this has anything to do with the fact that
he stole like eight bases in four games and maybe

(23:47):
all the slides are messing up his shoulder. What do
you think there, Bubba An, he thought.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
He's been battling this injury all season, but he was
at the d Backs. He missed like three games one time,
because like he's been battling his shoulders issue for a
while now. Hopefully it's just more of a couple of
days off will help with this situation because he's the
fact that Josh Naylor legitly is gooing to be a
twenty twenty guy, maybe like twenty like the way he's going,
we could say thirty thirty potentially, the way like gets

(24:14):
insane that the physically think about that man doing this.
So hopefully it's just a minor situation he's been dealing
with all season.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah, every year he seems to be valuable. It's just
in different ways. Right, twenty twenty three, it was only
seventeen home runs, but he had ninety seven ribbis, ten
steals and he hit three ho eight. Then the next
year the batting average goes down to two forty three,
but he hits thirty one homers. This season, the batting
average is back up. The power isn't there, but the
speed is there. There's always something. I wouldn't be surprised
if he starts pitching next year and gives us value

(24:40):
in that way, because there's just always something with Josh Naylor.
Good Canadian boy, let's talk. Michael King expected to return
from his right shoulder strain and start for the Padres
on Saturday against the Red Sox. You thrown him right
into the fire against the Red Sox immediately or would
you rather see one on the bench first.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
I usually like to see one on the bench. I
like the Red Sox offense, but I also like what
I've seen in rehab from Michael King. So I think
I'm I'm letting loose. It's like I said, majority of
the time, I'm sitting, but this one looks pretty sweet.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, I think I agree. Kevin Ginkle transferred to the
sixty day il Well mister remainder of the season with
the shoulder strain. I went back and forth with Welsh
all off season. I was on the Justin Martinez side,
he was AJ Pauk. Both gone now Ginkle's gone. If
you had to speculate on who gets saves in Arizona,
I know that we're running out of names at this point,
but is it Graveman? I know that Dave McDonald has

(25:29):
like this, Kyle Backus guy. Is it even worth pursuing
at this point considering the state of the team.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
I'm not pursuing it. Because of the state of the team.
Graveman's got the experience. Backus has the last save plus
a blown save, so he's gotten two out of the
last three chances. Andrew Hoffman got a chance. My point
being a most average person has no idea who we're
talking about, and b it just keeps like a revolving
door there. So I'm probably staying a way and there's

(25:57):
about seven bullpens like that right now.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Yeah, Arizona. I thought that they were going to be
a great team this year.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
So did I. They started out looking like they're to
run it back and then boom goes to dynamite.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
I believe it was last year they led the majors
and runs and they were a good team. But that's
baseball in the World Series, yeh. I mean that's only
two years removed to this point. Pretty light day on
the injury front, which were grateful for. Chase Medroth is
the only other notable name placed on the ten day
ail with a thumb contusion eligible to return on August fifteenth,
so they backdated that one by a couple of days

(26:30):
and that will take us into the best bets of
the day. I mentioned Chase Burns earlier on in the show.
His strikeout line was set at like six and a
half and it was really juiced. I'm taking the all
eight plus strikeouts at plus one twenty four. I do
not mind laddering this one up to ten, nine to ten,
however comfortable you feel on it. He strikes out everybody,
Like we have mentioned three consecutive starts of ten strikeouts.

(26:53):
That last one doesn't count only one inning, but he
struck out two in that one inning as well. He's
facing the Pirates, a team that does have a bottom
ten strikeout rate over the last three weeks, So I'm
liking that one. Royals and Twins is a matchup that
I am really liking for the under today. We got
Joe Ryan and Seth Lugo. Under eight and a half
does feel like a pretty solid number. Minus one twenty
two is what I'm looking at for that one. And

(27:15):
then Rockies and d Backs over nine runs total here
excuse me, Zach Gallen and Austin Gomber. I don't know
what's coming with Zach Allen. He is a complete wild card,
but Austin Gomber is capable himself of allowing the over here.
So I will take that combination of Gomber and Gallen
over nine runs for Rockies and d Backs. Bubba, what
do you got for us today? A lot of plus money?

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Looks like? Yeah, the people that remember me I like
to do prop bets. I like to do a lot
of the hits runs and RBIs and I like to
make plus money bets. That's kind of where the world
goes here. So we're going to shame Begaliers out the
gate over three hits runs and rbs A plus one
fifteen getting Sigano a lot of pitch to contact in Baltimore,
gonna be warm ball flying and with Bengalires leading off,

(27:57):
now that increases the run possibilities as well, So I
like that one. Corbyn Carroll is one that I'll continue
to pepper at over three for plus one point fifteen.
He still continues to get stuff done for the Diamondbacks.
Actual we just you know, poop pood all over them,
So don't mind me some Corbyn Carroll and his matchup.
And then one that I love a ton is Manny Machado.

(28:20):
I thought this was a really good plus money bet
plus one forty five for over three hits runs and
RBIs and I had to like alter that one because
it was over two at the book, so I even
pushed it up because he's getting my old friend Walker
Bueller on the mound in San Diego, and I feel
like Machado could hit a three run homer himself and

(28:41):
finish this thing off real quick. So I like me
some Machado and didn't put him on here because they
weren't on the board last night. But we'll talk about
a home run call. Get your Marlins prop bets in
because Bryce Elder stinks.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Bryce Elder, I'll never forget that run he had. I
think it was twenty twenty two where he was just
great for like Penner tie twelve starts and people bought
in the next year and he's been awful. I don't
think a lot of people bought in the next year,
but man, he was brilliant for four months and we
haven't seen anything like that since. If you're looking to

(29:13):
play some bets on your own, new customers can place
a five dollars bet to get a two hundred and
fifty dollars in bonus bets over at FanDuel fantasypros dot Com.
Slash leading off is where you get access to that offer,
so be sure to do it today. Let's make some
home run calls. Bubba, I'm gonna go with Aaron Judge.
I'm taking the low hanging fruit here. We'll take a
look at the home run board here. I've missed up

(29:34):
on the home run board. Forgive me, guys, I haven't
hosted the show in a very long time. The home
run board though positive, Grouch forty eight at the top,
George at forty six, and Whips as well at forty six,
B's eighty seven at forty four, and the Fisher King
at forty three rounding out the top five. I am
gonna take excuse me, I'm gonna take Aaron Judge today.
He has not hit a home run in the two
games since he has returned. There's only so long you

(29:55):
can keep him down, though, So I am going to
be taking the very easy call today of Aaron Judge.
But what do you got for us? On the home
run side?

Speaker 2 (30:02):
We go with one of the hotterst hitters in baseball,
young hitters in baseball, and Kyle Stowers. I said mentioned
that Bryce Elder situation. A warm night in Atlanta, ball
should be flying. I think Kyle Stowers continues his monster
twenty twenty five season and makes that trade look fair
now between the Orioles and the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
It's wild man. I was laughing, laughing, laughing last year.
But I think Honestly, if you're asking any general manager,
would they rather take a starting pitcher who looks like
a star or an outfielder who looks like a star.
I think most of the time they are going to
take the starting pitcher. So maybe Baltimore did win. At
the very least, I think it's a fairly even trade.
Before we get out of here, let's take a couple

(30:43):
of your questions. Twelve team head to had points. I
get Nola and Bryce Miller coming back. Need to drop
two of Flairty, Quintana and Gallon. It's a tricky one, Bubba,
where would you go with this one?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Gallon is gone in the twelfth I dropped him almost
two months ago. In my twelve team leagues, he's gone,
and probably Quintana. Like, I'm a Flarerity lover. I know
the ratios are horrible for Flarity, but he's still pumped
strikeouts like his Kato walk is twenty two percent and
that's well above average. So I'm dropping Kintana and Gallon.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah, Flarity has been disappointing for me a little bit,
but I think you still have to go with the
skills there. Quintana, on the surface has been very good
this year. I just don't know how much I really
trust it. Necessarily, we got to the single question Ronnie
Henriquez or Riley O'Brien for saves. I know you dropped Ronnie, Baba,
that's what he's saying.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, I mentioned on the show last night. I dropped
Ronnie last week because I Marlin, it's another bullpen, don't
even try. I would out of the two, though, I'd
probably still think Ronnie and Riquez because I don't trust
Riley O'Brien's situation. But just go pick up Phil Maton.
Go pick him up. He's gonna be closing for Texas
in no time. You know.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
I added him at the deadline after Hellsley got traded
in my home league. Hellsley got traded at Adam Aton, he
gets traded to Texas. I drop him right away, and
looks like that was a little bit short excited of
me on that front. Would you rather keep Cam and
Narrow for a six or Cheerio for a twelve? I
feel like it's got to be Cheerio, but.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
It's Cheerio easy, Like Cam and Arrow is an absolute beast,
But given Cheerio is hurt now at stinks but the
dude is legit. Like to me, I keep saying, like
the next rounds Cocunie, Like, if anybody can profile to that,
I think he can profile to that.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
I think you might be right there. Start Eric Lauer
against the Dodgers. I think you can start them pretty much.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
So you do it. Yeah, Dodgers are bad right now, dude, Yeah,
are not good.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
So it's true.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
It's true. It's like it's the old adage that has
happened last year at the Yankees is tapping again this
year with the Yankees. Some like you really got to
look at numbers once and just instead of saying, like, hey,
this team's loaded. The Dodgers are hitting like two thirty
right now over the last month, and they're striking out
like twenty five percent of the time, give or take it.
It's not good.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Yeah, I guess in my brain I just default too,
Dodgers good, stay away. I agree, But no, you're right though,
Looking at like Kevin Hasting on a show earlier this
year really got me into looking a three week sample sizes.
In the last three weeks, it ain't pretty out there
at Chabezervin.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
When I do all my matchups columns and anything dfs.
I always do the last thirty days versus the you know, handedness.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Yeah, they ain't good. It's not looking pretty well. Else
it's not looking pretty far. Lawrence Butler time to drop
now that he's sitting against lefties. I think in a
shallow league. I gave a different answer the other day.
I think if you are in a ten or twelve
team three outfielder league, he can hit the wire.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Agreed. The fact he's sitting versus lefties now is highly concerning.
It's a down season. Maybe get some value in draft
season next year with them.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
Yeah, yeah, it's tricky. I mean, still gonna be a
great lineup next year. Still the good ballpark. I think
I'll be buying whatever little dip we get, and there
will be some dip from this year. He was a
top seventy five, top eighty pick. I don't see that
happening again next season. Let's do a little bit of
rapid fire Riley Green or Hazu Sanchez.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
I'm gonna go with you said rapid, I'll go Hazy Sanchez.
I like that, well, Riley Green, Riley Green.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Yeah, I would take Raley Green. But man, do I
ever love Hazers Sanchez, the fact that it's not out
of Miami like those barrel rates over the.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Year, Hoston like he's it's a good, massive upgrade.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
It's about as good as it could have been. Are
we sitting to Grom versus the Phillies the way he's
been pitching lately. I'm not, But I'm also the biggest
de Grom fan probably out there, so I'm never sitting him.
But I I would understand it in like a ten
team league, maybe, but I wouldn't have the stones to
be able to actually put him on the bench. Personally agreed,

(34:35):
Start Logan Henderson against the Mets probably, Yeah, Met's.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Is another last thirty days hitting blow two thirty.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Yeah, okay? And last one, would you guys rather roster
she and bo or Gore in a points league? It
might might be Bao, but she and.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Yeah, it is one of those two. And the god
that pains me because I love Mackenzie Gore. I would
say she and for the strikeout and win upside. But
who knows how much longer?

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Isan?

Speaker 2 (35:05):
You never know what that rotation there.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Maybe we can take a couple more questions here if
anything else that is coming in there, are a couple
of questions here. Twelve teen points. Now, I think we
got to that one. Langford Butler or ti Oscar Hernandez
twelve team head.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
To head, you can cross out Butler. Ti Oscar is
starting to swing it of late. I still go White Langford,
like if healthy and that Texas team, well they're not hitting,
will you I go Langford? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:35):
I think I go Langford as well, and I'll rook
you in the year, Augustin Ramirez or Drake Baldwin. I
think it's going to be Baldwin. He has such an
advantage in terms of like wins above replacement and stuff
like that that I think it's gonna be him. But
what do you think, Bubba?

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, I don't know who the person is that they
might know me. I am the biggest. We nicknamed him
Goose on the show. I Love this man. I said
he'd be a time in catcher if you played every
day two forty two, seventeen and seven. It is Drake
because he's had the longer run. But if Goose can
put together another like six weeks, it's a lot closer
than people think. I get. There's value in the betting market.

(36:13):
I wouldn't mind throwing some shekels on that you.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Have any interest in anybody else there in the National
League Collins or misuse.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Collins is very deserving. He's just he's like he's been
good for a long time. He's busting out this last month.
But the dude hits for average and he's playing every day.
I think he'll fall behind these guys, but very like
at least he's in the conversation for sure.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Yeah, I think so as well. Start Cam Schlitler tonight
versus Houston. I'd lean no in most cases unless it's
a deep, deep league. What do you think, bumps.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Twelve team or deeper? I could fifteens for sure, twelve
if you have other options I get I would start
him in twelves and deeper just because the k upside
is there. But they're starting to wake up in Houston.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Yeah, Ernie Clement or Colson Montgomery rest of season.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
That's I love Clement. I've been pounding the for Clement,
but if we're talking fantasy, you need a guy that
can go eat more than like four or five times.
So it's cool to Montgomery.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
I think you're probably right. Yeah, I mean the lineup
context they're so different. They're so different in.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Terms of the make up, really different skill sets.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
So I guess if you really really need batting average,
it might be Ernie. If you really need power, then
it's probably Montgomery. It's tricky, man. I've been a big
Ernie fan myself this year. He's put together two straight
really really good seasons, and I wonder what his role
looks like in the future. But man, eligible everywhere, hitting
close to three hundred, We'll take it. We will absolutely

(37:34):
take it. Any faith that Joe Ryan can get wins
anymore with that team. We'll get a couple, but it's
not gonna be You're not gonna be winning six or
seven more games this season. Maybe it's two or three.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
I'd say he's in the Paul Skins bucket. Folks enjoy.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Yeah, the Tango Tiger Tom Tango posted something yesterday about
the wins, and it was like Felix or Nandez dug
the hole, Jacob de Grund put the coffin in, and
now Paul Skeins is putting the dirt on top. Now
in terms of how people are looking at wins, a
couple more Michael Waka start every time out. I think
absolutely at this point. I mean, two consecutive years of

(38:10):
not three now of just really really good production. I
think he's a set it and forget a guy.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
I agreed, Yep, your rock and roll and people need
to stop the bias use the head against him.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
I think we will wrap it up there. We got
through a lot of questions and I really appreciate all
you guys coming into the show. I know it is
a little different. You know, you're still getting a Joe
one who is balding but not quite bald yet, and
you're getting Bubba instead of Well, so it's a little
bit different. But I hope you guys are enjoying the podcast.
