the most important question of the day. Should get a
good check up? Yesterday at the dentist, you know, I
actually kind of was.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
There's good and bad, good and bad, nobody really cares,
but well good now good. I was there to get
a cleaning and then they did all of the work
and They're like, all right, now, let's schedule that cleaning,
and I'm like, what are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (00:52):
But we were pretty good.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We were pretty pretty good, better than I thought. Don't
like those things, but I'm glad to be back here.
Glad I might have possibly been missed, not necessarily for
sure missed, like you said, because Joe Jo Rico's so
amazing and everything like that. But I'm glad that I
am back talking baseball we.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Having I'm glad you're back. We got a lot of
baseball to talk about. Joe Rigo did a great job yesterday,
as he always does, filling in. But I want to
talk here first about some great pitching performances. It's very rare.
I have an evening to myself where I just watch
an entire single game. I happened to choose.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh wait, let me guess. Hold on, no, no, hold on,
let me guess using my skills, you watched a Met game,
and we'll talk about a Mets pitcher to start at
the show. We'll start an entire show talking about you
mean the bet.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
You mean the best team, the team that's twenty games
over five hundred right now, the Tigers have the better
record they played the American League. Let's talk about it, Joe. No,
let's talk about David Peterson. One of my darlings of
the Black Book this year, David Peterson. It was so
refreshing to watch, and I watched every pitch. I didn't
flip into another games like I would normally. I didn't
(02:02):
do any of that stuff. I just watched the single
game because I wanted to watch him work. No walk,
six strikeouts, six hits, complete game. Shout out of the
Nationals right handle James Wood all day as he always does.
He handles o Tawani Analezog. He's the toughest lefty in
the lineup. He handles them all the time. It was
just fun to watch a guy pitch and not try
to blow everybody away with one hundred mile an hour stuff.
(02:23):
The art of pitching is alive with guys like David Peterson.
And he threw thirty two pitches in the first three innings.
He was efficient, he attacked the strikes sound, he was
first pitch strike. I'm just saying next week he's got
two starts against the Braves in the Phillies, and I'm
confident to throw him out there against the Braves in
the Phillies despite the fact they're good lineups. And I
just think it's great to see somebody go out there
(02:46):
and pitch because the art of pitching is a lost
art form. It's something that I think you know when
you look at what's going on in Major League Baseball,
the epidemic of injuries and pitchers. It's sad to me.
It's frustrating to me as a lover of baseball. Is
a fantasy play. And although all jokes aside, are you
telling me you're not impressed by what Peterson's done this year?
The quality starts, the era all.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
That, I think it's pretty impressive. I was looking at
run values on his pitches too. Last year. Here's a
couple things. So last year it was pretty much dominantly
just that sinker that he throws. That was the plus pitch,
that was the thing that was doing stuff for him.
This year, three of the top four pitches have plus
run values. It's his sinker, of course, which is always
(03:29):
up there. Last year it was a sixth. This year
it's a four, but a slider and a change up,
So you know, in the red if you're looking at
Savant like if you're seeing red, you're seeing pluses like
those are plus pitches right now, and his slider and
change up were not there last year. His slider was
actually a horrifically bad pitch for him. Batting average is
way down. K's are way up on it, which is
(03:50):
getting a lot done here, strikeouts are up for him.
I mean, there's some pretty impressive results expected does tell
us like he might be around three and a half.
The interesting thing though, and this speaks to both sides.
Looking over on the stuff plus models, he's only a
ninety stuff plus and it's actually the worst it's been
over the last couple of years. His slider is the
(04:12):
only pitch that's grading out on those stuff plus models
as like a league average, and that's lower. But his
location plus. So again, these are just pitching models out there.
You'll see the stuff. You'll see location and then pitching plus,
which is you don't even really worry about it necessarily.
But his location plus is higher than it's ever been
and so one oh one, So that is above average
(04:35):
on his location, so he is. So these are all
just little things to show us. What you saw is
guess what. His location is better. It's making the pitches better.
The slider has gotten better, it's got a better with rate,
better strikeout rate, and because he's hitting his spots even more,
he's finding a lot more efficiency. So jokes aside, I'm
not starting to show with David Peterson, but I absolutely
(04:55):
think he's not talked about enough, and he does deserve
to be in this space that you're talking about, where
it's like, you know what, maybe you can throw him
out here in two starts, in tougher matchups, because he's
been a dog. He's been a dog this.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Year, absolute dog. Spencer Schwellenbach was a dog too, struck
out nine, first career complete game for him. Braves beat
the Brewers. Don't look now, Okay, So the Braves play
the Rockies this weekend. This month, they also played the
Marlins coming up. I looked at the schedule. I was
starting to look ahead. They have home and home series
(05:28):
against the Mets and then the Phillies they play. If
they handle their business in June and play above board
against the Mets and the Phillies, they can get back
in this thing because after that they play the Angels,
they play the Athletics, they play the Baltimore Oriols. They
play a lot of slap nut teams that they can
rack up some wins. They could still make the playoffs here,
boys and girls. So I'm not counting the Braves out
(05:48):
quite yet. Welsh. I looked ahead the schedule and I
just talked about on Craig Misias Ship.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Well, and I'll tell you all jokes aside of busting
your balls a little bit on this like this is
where I start for these two reasons, like this is
how this is I think the most important because Schwellenbach
moving past it real quick. Also, that's a complete game
like he was to start the year. And I've talked
about him on our trade shows a couple of times
as a bye and he is just he's getting better
(06:13):
and better. It's a three to one one era. It
is a three point nine walk percentage, which is absolutely absurd.
His k's are starting to come back up. Everything is
looking really good and getting to what you're saying, like
I agree, don't look now, Acunya is back. Schwellenbach is rocking.
Sale is going like the Braves are somebody that you
(06:35):
know that division should be worried about. They really shouldn't it.
There's just maybe some interesting bets in there. But also
there were some really fun, good trade opportunities that have
been floating out there, and I think Swellenbach was one
of the biggest, and I'm super encouraged to see that
he's kind of like found that rhythm again. You know,
the strikeouts are still kind of wafting a little bit.
He only had four strikeouts versus the Giants in his
(06:55):
last one, but he now has nine or more strikeouts,
I believe, in three of his last four starts. So
don't look now, but we're talking. We're back to top
ten Swelly.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Top ten, Twelly, the Braves to make the playoffs plus
two forty five. Yes, right now. I don't hate it.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
I don't I don't hate it.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I don't hate it. Sale's been good, Saless been great,
Schwanbach coming off a great start. If Strider can get
right over the next couple of weeks, so key again,
it's it's huge for them. They've got a counya back now,
right because they end have a coonia for the first
you know, two months of the season. Look, I'm not
trying to resurrect the Braves here, especially as a Mets fans,
the last thing I want to do. But I got
(07:33):
to keep it real. The Braves are not done yet.
June will tell the tale if they struggle against the
Mets in that home and home series where they go
back and forth and they struggle against the Phillies and
they're under five hundred, and that I think you can
kind of cast.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
That if Strider's right. Is there a better three man
rotation you could throw? I only say that because of
like the playoffs, but they go Sale, Schwelley and Strider.
Is there a better three man rotation someone can throw out?
Mariners could throw.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Out He'll healthy. I was gonna say, of healthy Yamamoto
Otani and either Glass now or Snell. Yeah, that's the
only one that I think can compete with. Okay, I think,
but again, that's so theoretical at this point, that's super theoretical.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah, And I mean I guess I was kind of
getting theoretical with the Mariners one too, because Gilbert's not healthy,
but he's close. But like they'd have Gilbert Kirby and
Louis Castillo. That's not as good.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
No wo no wu who got blown up yesterday?
Speaker 2 (08:22):
But Brian, Yeah, but I wouldn even put it. I mean,
I think they have the best five man rotation, but
I would probably say that Dodger one maybe beats it.
But but I guess the point is, oh, yeah, so
Colt said Cole free to Redond, but we can't even
put Cole in there because he's out for Tommy John.
We can play theoretical games, but we gotta play theoretical
that they're going to actually be here. So freedom redon
(08:43):
Yankees are out of that conversation. So I don't think
there's another one out there. And that's why you look
at a team like the Braves because their offense when
it's clicking, they've got that rotation. What do they need bullpen?
So trademarking should be uh should be rocking here Gossman.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
But another urging performance jesus Lozardo big bounce back. I
know a lot of people were like, oh, you know,
I can't believe I didn't start him. Why why can't you?
He was god awful for two starts in a row
when he was facing the Cubs lineup, who's been terrific
all year. Great, he struck out ten guys. Now he
could breathe a sigh of relief. After I rage dropped
him last week, I picked him back up. All's right
(09:20):
with the world. But look, I gotta tell you again,
that's shallow league problems. But in real leagues, there was
no way you weren't drop you were dropping him. But
also I did not feel good about starting him, and
that's fine. Did you feel good about starting him yesterday? Well,
I was all honesty only feel good.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
I'm not like AH clubs team or anything like that.
But also I definitely would have never rage dropped Lozardo.
But I understand some of the worries. But you know
what whiffs were back He had sixteen against a Cubs team.
That's not exactly the easiest thing to do on the planet.
The slider and change up were both great. He ended
up with like a thirty percent CSW but he had
(09:59):
an over thirty three change up in slider with percentage,
so fastball set up the other pitches got the strikeout.
So this is what you want from him. I'm pretty
encouraged that he was back and his villa was back up.
The change change up a little bit harder, but fastball
and slider, no loss on villa or anything like that.
It's a great sign he went through it. These guys
went through a great little buying opportunity. Or you know,
(10:19):
you can maybe panic a little bit less if you're
absolutely forreaking out about him, and maybe.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
He was dipping his pitches, as Rigby was pointing out here,
I would also say, stick around, because we got some
really cool splits on some of these pitchers that we're
gonna talk about today, not just Lizardo, but Welsh. You
were not here yesterday.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
No.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I made a little wager, some might say a bit
of a curse wager. Potentially Jack Lder had just one
more start yesterday to go to forever take away the
NEPO Baby moniker that I have saddled him with just
one Welsh one more start, that's all he had. Fortunately,
(11:01):
it did not go well.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Or did you give up seven? So you go seven
runs and go to any What was the line that
killed it?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Jack Lighter allowed five hits, four runs, four walks, three
and four innings. He was terrible. He was awful in
this start. Five hits, four runs and four innings with
four walks. That's dreadful. Get back to the miners yet,
Nepo Baby. That's all right. Doc Joe has returned for
(11:31):
the second straight day. This is my new favorite bit.
I love being Doc Joe. So maybe I cursed him,
Maybe I didn't. I guess we'll never know. Welsh, I
guess we'll never know. But my other two bets hit yesterday,
so that's good.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
It's good. It's this is your worst bit. Your lighter
thing is your your your dark thing is very funny.
This is your worst bit on Jack Klider like that
four earned us? Why?
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Because this was a good start.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
It's not a bats it's not the worst start on
the plan. I give it four and runs of walk four.
That's not great, but that looking for with four.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Earned runs and four innings is a good start. What
have we become as a society? What have we become?
What has become of you? I? How dare you? Good? Sir?
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I can't, dare you? I can't Where is my dueling glove?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Your stuff?
Speaker 2 (12:18):
I can't with you? It's your worst take. It's your
worst take. That like that was gonna release five great starts.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I have found my dueling glove.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
I don't have a glove anywhere, so sorry.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Look at me. I smack you with my dueling glove. No,
how dare you?
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Wish I could stop? Dare the lighter said? Just real quick?
Six one earned run, five strikeouts seven, three and runs,
four strikeouts five two earned runs, three strikeouts five and
two thirds zero a deal strikeouts five. Those are his
five last starts, and he has four.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yes but he needed six. I'm a man of my word.
We made a wager. Goods, sir, you made a wager.
I made a wager. I said, six good starts in
a row, and I will take away the moniker forever.
I will never call him that again. Now he's back
to zero, so we'll see if he can do six again.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I hope he does. Got time, hope he gives a b.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Tell me in the chat, was that a good start
for Jack Glider yesterday? Was that a quality start?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
It was a good start.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Didn't say it was a good there's worst starts out there,
of course, but it wasn't good. It was bad. Okay,
it wasn't the worst, because we've seen that from Hazel's
Lozardo two starts in a row, so we've seen what
the worst looks like. We've seen Brandon Fott. It wasn't
oh yes, hitter, but it was bad. It wasn't a
dumpster fire of beyond belief. But it was bad, unequivocally bad.
(13:49):
And you know, if things aren't going your way and
maybe your performance isn't what it should be, maybe you
should try Kaisa treks. That's right, you train hard, you

let's move on. I love you Welsh? Do you still
love me?
Speaker 2 (15:35):
You're you're all right? Offending me? Don't worry, You're not
offending me with your Jacklider take. I'm good.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
It's not a take, it's just facts. Let's get to
the next one here, Chris Boombich facts. Eventually this was
gonna come down to, you know, to a halting, screeching
halt at some point here. Boombach gave up five runs
against the Yankees, four and a third judge homeward again,
third straight day of a home run for him, was terrific.
Struck out seven guys six scorlds innings. So Boobach, after
(16:04):
this start, do you think there's some water here that
is a little kind of murky where the people have
boobage all this time? He has the one start that
isn't great where they start to go, okay, maybe I
should get out. And would you be buying or selling
him or holding him even better?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
You know, I feel like I feel like how you're
talking about him. I think I might be like a bye.
I think I might be a bye or like a hold.
What is it?
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Yeah? It said Welsh's first day back feels like a
root canal listening to you. He's like, where is that dead? Disjoke?
I can't. I wish I could go back.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
It's like it is like pulling teeth with you something.
This is like his only bad well. I mean if
they give a guy gives up four and runs to you,
that's a bad start. So I guess he's had a
couple bad starts this year, But.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Boobach, what's the ERA when you give up four runs
and four innings?
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well, I mean, I don't care, but his one nine
two ERA this year is an expected two nine nine,
So Boobach is still under three strikeouts have been good
pitch types too, like expected batting average on four seams
and sweepers. It's all still really low. So like, I'm
pretty encouraged with where he's at. And if you want
to talk about run values, by the way, four of
(17:12):
five pitches that Bubach is throwing has a positive run value,
and they're all three or higher. That is actually wildly
crazy good. And those are the four top pitch types
that he throws. So I think it's buying opportunity or
just like a straight hold with Bubich. It's just one
bad start. I do think he's gonna actually think he's
gonna come back down to earth more at the end
of the year and be like a low threes guy.
(17:33):
So there might be a couple bad starts in there.
I just don't think you need to move on because
I mean, he's really maintaining like good, good contact agains
from pitchers strikeouts are solid, Like I'm still here for
the boobach.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
I would buy or hold Walker Buehler six hits, three runs,
one walk, seven strikeouts. So Walker Buehler with a good start,
Lucas Giolito with a good start back to back days
we're living in the upside down. Who would you rather
have rest of season? Walker Buehler or Lucas gi Alito.
Who do you trust? Ah Buler money money money haabahabahabaho.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Do you trust Hoodia Hudia? I do not trust Gilido.
It's funny because I was just doing, like we're doing
this old rest of you know, the rest of the
Caasaron ranks we have on Fantasy proszil So help power tools,
We're always kind of going in and I was looking
and I was just like, Gilido doesn't even belong on
this list, Like he needs to go completely where I
have no trust in Gilito anymore. I'm done fair enough.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I want to shout out. Somebody just resubbed Jay Chow
seventy three. Thank you for resubbing with Prime. Make sure
you do the same. If you're watching today, Ben Casparius,
I want to talk about Ben Casparius for a moment.
Tough start yesterday for him, matchup wise against the Padres Dodgers.
Padres always very stressful right four innings are stretching him
out of the bullpen. One run ball. He has a
two eight sixty ERA on the year forty six strikeouts
(18:46):
or just nine walks in forty four innings. Yesterday, the
manager Robert said that they're going to try to extend
him out and make him a starting pitcher. That seems
to be their plan, which tells you a couple things
about their concerns about plat Snell and Snell for sure,
Casparius is interesting because he's been very good. He qualifies
at RP. This is what used to happen back in
(19:10):
the day. You know, Johan Santana was once upon a
time a relief pitcher. People forget that, who eventually got
stretched out in season as a starter and then became
one of the best starters in baseball. I'm not saying
that's where Casparius is, but in a situation where there's
ample opportunity in this rotation to be good. If he
takes this ball and runs with it and becomes a
decent starter, this could be huge. I think pick up
(19:33):
wise for you know, fantasy. This could be huge in
the betting market too. He's plus fourteen hundred for Rookie
of the Year. Augustin Vermirez has come crashing down to earth,
so has Drake Baldwin. Matt Shaw's just been mid basically
so nationally, Rookie of the Year is wide open as
far as I'm concerned. What do you think of Casparius?
I know this is kind of a long shot dark horse,
but I'm kind of intrigued. In deeper leagues, I'd be
(19:54):
picking him up.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yeah, oh, I thought you were asking me for a minute,
like in the Rookie of the Year market.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
No interest, well that too, any of it, I know
of it. I want all. I want all of the
Welsh I can handle.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Yeah, zero interest in the betting market, one hundred percent
interest in the fantasy market. I'm trying to remember what
the context was. I feel like I was saying it
the other day that it's like the Dodgers could do
dot dot dot because beIN Consparraus is somebody that they
could end up putting into the rotation, and then they're
starting to do that. He has three pitches that have
a thirty percent or higher K percentage. Crazy, same thing
(20:25):
on the fifth percentages. The fastball is probably not something
that may like thirty percent K percentage on fastballs or not.
Probably something that hold. But the other pitches are still there.
And check out this on his stuff plus numbers one
twenty stuff plus overall stuff plus, which is crazy, one
oh six location, which is crazy. His slider has a
(20:47):
one thirty seven stuff plus that is wildly high. I'm
not looking at a leaderboard, but that's going to be
up there. His his cutter is a one ten, his
curve is a one to nineteen. That's three pitches of
one ten or higher. That's insanely good, insanely good. So
the key is going to be that they can keep
him in the rotation, they can have him go deep.
(21:07):
The stuff is great for strikeouts. The fastball will probably
have to pare down a little bit when you come
off of relief. So you know, like, is he gonna
set everything up really well? Either way? This feels it
has the feels of like, you know, like a Michael
King going from relief into being a starter. Because cos
Bears has got a you know, big sweeper. The cutter
helps set up the fastball. I'm here. I'm totally here
(21:28):
for this. I love that they're actually doing it. I
hope they commit to it. They probably should, And I'm
gonna spot start him and I'm gonna pick him up
in case he stays in here. So yeah, it's very
good insight on you to put him on here because
this is one of those sneaky ones where it's like,
you know, he's kind of maybe moving into this starting
role and then they just said, like what was it
two days ago that his next start will his next
(21:48):
game will be a start and he has a legit
chance to kind of stay into that rotation. So I'm
but you gotta be careful though, too, because the Dodgers
and stuff. Plus guys remember Bobby Miller. Bobby Miller's like, oh,
there's three pitches, one hundred and thirty plus and great stuff.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
And then just injuries also killed Bobby Miller too, I
mean injuries. Health was the big problem for him. Also,
he's just never been the same confidence wise to since
those health issues. But a good conversation for sure. Ron
Akunya three for five yesterday, he has sixth homer. Josier
Ramirez reached his twentieth stolen base of the year. Already, God,
what a monster that guy is. Joe Adele also thirteenth Homer,
(22:24):
and Welsh is of course. As soon as he hit
it from the dentist's chair. I believe Welsh texted me
I actually tweet with the Actually I.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Think I did from the dentist because they made me
wait forever making celebrities weight it's ridiculous. And then I
saw it. Then we had done the video if people
haven't checked it out on the Waivers, and I made
Joe ad Joe Adele so we could talk about him,
and then he hits the Homer. I immediately send it to Joe,
and then Joe just sent back and he's just like
(22:54):
don't buy it or whatever you said, like.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Still not buying it. Go watch the Waiver Wire video.
I've seen this show before. I've seen the rerun. I'm
not into it. Van Rod, Would you take Jay Lee
and mccullors for PCA? No, I want PCA in that deal.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
This is not even absolutely universe. Mccollors are casparious. Rest
of season. That's an interesting one. I'm gonna say, already
has the gig, but he has the lean. But in
two weeks, ask again later, I want to shake that
magic eight ball?
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Well said, yeah, I think one of those dudes by
the way, in like yeah, like like three weeks, he
could end up being like a top fifty starter. Do
you have a magic eight ball?
Speaker 1 (23:36):
It's in my kids do in their room. Weld to
do a segment with it next week. Next week we'll
do a segment with rookie. LOOKI Marcelo Mayor two or
four with two solo homers. Good for him. Today's Jacob
Bzarowski Day Rejoice. Joe Rico and I were playing a
little game yesterday on the live stream in case you
missed it. First of all, somebody said that he looks
like a fantasy baseball Mitch Hedberg, and I laughed so
(23:57):
hard I most fell out of my chair. Oh yeah,
he does a And then we started doing fantasy baseball
or baseball related Mitch Hedberg jokes, and people were just
go read the log. It is hilarious. Even after the show,
people were putting them in so good.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
That I immediately went to the Mitchchgburg and it would
just be like I told you to, you know, I
told you to draft uh you know, Ronald d Kunya,
I don't need receipts, you know, it would be like
the receipt joke, which I'm not.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
But they were all like, you know, bullpens would be
more interesting if there was actually bulls coming out of them,
or like it's like the classic Mitch Hegburg is a
dad joke kind of things that don't.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
So it's just that's the only one that sticks out
of my mind to me, is like, we did not
need receipt for this type of transaction or whatever, a
wild drug out.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Unfortunately, unfortunately, there was a point to what I was saying, though.
What was oh Jacob Berazarowski predicting his line today? I
think we landed on something like four and two thirds,
five strikeouts, three walks, three runs. That's that's what we
landed on. Four and two thirds, five strikeouts, three walks,
(25:05):
three earned runs. I'm gonna say he leaves with men
on base and somebody allows them to come in.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
That's how I'm as go. Four strikes out, seven gives
up two earned runs and walks too.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Okay, seth our producer has had one for me, SJ two.
It was funny the starting pitcher only lasted an inning,
so he ordered another one immediately. That's Seth was crushing it.
Seth had a lot of good ones. So that's a
funny group around here.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Unfortunate. When I was younger, I thought like, oh, this
is really funny, and then as you get older, it
was one of those things ire were like, he's really
actually not that he wasn't super greaty was.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
He was a vibe at the time, it was the
one liner. It was more the mystique of the character
than anything, you know. And again when some when people
die young, they become these you know, Yeah, Nirvana was
not my favorite Seattle band. Okay, like Sound Garden, Pearl,
jam Alison Chains, I would all put above them collectively.
This is just my opinion. But Kirk Cobain died, he
(26:01):
became this meal mammoth thing. And not that Nirvana wasn't
a mammoth thing, but it certainly added that.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
That's how my uncle they like he was a musician
and had a record label and all that, And I
remember he chastising me about that with what is it
Jim Morrison with the Doors and because like the movie
came out and Val Kilmer and is like, oh, this
is you know, This is really great, and the doors
are interesting and he's just like Jim Morrison's eye bag.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
And just like I was gonna say, I always thought
the doors were overrated to it, and yeah, that's the
sixties rock bands and the doors would never it for me.
I hate the organ. Bubba Chandler one run, no hits,
four walks. The walks are becoming a bit of an
issue lately for Bubba Chandler. Do you think he's pouting
or do you think there's something really just off with
him right now? Because it's not just one start. It's
been a couple in a row now where the walks
(26:47):
are becoming an issue.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Oh, it's it's been a thing all year long. He
is a big fastball, slider guy. He's kind of mixed
around with some of the other usages, but it's heavy there.
So I'm a little bit worried. You got to wonder,
is this why they've held him down outside of just
like pure manipulation. I'm not one hundred percent sure, but
it keeps creeping its head. You would love to see
him rattle off like three or four starts where it's not.
(27:11):
But the interesting thing is is when you look at
the top scope of like pitchers in the minor leagues.
Two of the top three I would say that are
viable right now have walk issues. Miss Rowski has walk issues.
He's cut it dramatically, but there are still some serious
walk issues that are prevalent with him. Same thing with
Bubba Chandler. Andrew Painter's the only one that doesn't. And
you know, Painter ended up might be might end up
(27:32):
being like the best pitching prospect in baseball. But I'm
a little bit worried about it. But God knows. You know,
the bet right now is who's up first, Brandon Woodruff
or Bubba Chandler. God knows, We don't.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Well, you said Brandon Woodroff. Now I should do Dark Joe,
but I've already done it once. I'm not gonna beat
the bunny around too bad. Fun facts Now for TV,
I always put together this segment this time of year
on Sundays called Splitsville because there's enough data to really
do it. Ben Brown yesterday was tagged for six runs
and four and two thirds. But I want to throw
a caveat in there, So let's start with Ben Brown
(28:04):
because I want to look at these look at these
stats and these splits. Day games this year six day
games seven point seven six seven e ra A one
to seven to four whip in day games. In night
games seven games for Ben Brown A three six eighty
r A one point two zero whip. You want to
talk about jackyl and Hyde, I don't know what he's
doing at night, he's or after the game. He's a
(28:27):
night That's what I said. He's a vampirell him, absolutely
a vampire.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
I got his nickname. We'll call him Blade. Well, I
guess that would be Daywalk because he's a day walker,
so that wouldn't really work. But he is a draft.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
He's a vampire. Ben Brown the vampire, Yeah, that is.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I was telling you this is only one I know
of these splits because you mentioned it and I was like,
this is weird, like day nights. It's very weird, weirdest
to me of all. And it's like, you know, there
might be there's some weird shading sometimes, you know, and
on day games and stuff, and you could have like
three or four innings where it's like it's really tough
(29:02):
on hitters or pitchers, Like maybe that's some of it,
but I don't I don't understand this. But he is
one hundred percent a uh, he's a vampire.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
He's not a day walking he's absolutely. It's funny because
and he pitches for the Cubs, which is exasperating because
they play so many more day games in Chicago still
than any other team. Like, they're just historically known for
the day games. It's what comes do. And it used
to I talked about this in a live stream yesterday.
He used to keep free agents from signing with him
because back in the eighties and seventies, guys used to
party after the games and they did not want to
get up and play those those day games for the Cubs.
(29:32):
And it legitimately was something on the agents were, you know,
telling the team, no, my player doesn't want to sign
there because of that. And I remember some some guys
used to have problems in day games. I remember Dwight
Gooden historically in the late eighties had problems with day games.
Now we know why. We have a little bit more
data there throws. But seriously, seventh, so if you have
(29:54):
Ben Brown, don't start him in the day. Let's get
to another slide here. What do we have next? Splitzville
Shane Boss another day game Menace ten e r A
ten point two zero in three Day Games A two
point one to three, Whip at Night ten Games three
five six ERA one point one three, Shane Boss. It's like,
what is that the interview with a vampire? Tom Cruise
(30:17):
has Ben Brown because he's the worst of them, and
Shane Boss is like the Brad Pitt, He's like his
his like understudy. He's the up and coming vampire.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Probably using more modern reference to but yeah, that's fine.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
I mean what we do in the Shadows is amazing.
But I don't know. I mean, nobody knows. I guess
Shane Boss is Giermo.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
What's the what's the one that all the like the
teeny bop drama Vampire one.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Oh, the Vampire Chronicles or something like that, not the.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
One with like if people know Twilight, Yeah, no, Twilight.
That's twenty years old too, is it really?
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah? Twilight was in the early two thousands. I want
to say Vampire Diary.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I would use From Death Till Dawn, but we can't
use all those reund that's also thirty years very all
of it very, but it's very We need some new
vampire movies besides Stuffy's old Two.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Guys they're all old.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
What's the new vampire thing? I think sinners and that.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
The Vampire Diaries is the newest, but that's also kind
of old.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
True Blood is so okay for a couple of seasons.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
True Blood also.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Like and it's just like there's a little pixies and
all that.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
This is like, all right, let's do another one here,
another Splitzville. Let's take a look Hazers Lizardo before yesterday
start versus lefties killing them two hundred batting average against
four to seven nine ops for his right handers this
year a three h nine batting average against an eight
twenty eight OPS. I found this stat a little troubling,
despite his the fact he was so good yesterday. This
is one to me that when you look at the split,
(31:36):
you go, mmm, that just gives me pause a little
bit about the success Lozarto has had this year, because
you can't be that bad against right handed pitching and
sustain a really high level productivity over thirty starts. In
my opinion, Well what do you think of it?
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Well, that was the biggest worry with Brandon Fott. Brandon
Fought could not get out left handed pitchers or left
handed hitters because he wasn't comfortable throwing the sweeper, and
that was why he tried to implement more of a sinker.
And I think you've got like something relative let me
pull this back up, something relatively similar here, because Lozardo
is predominantly foreseen. But then he's gonna go to the sweeper,
(32:11):
which is his best pitch. But when you're going up
against what the hell is it against right handed right
handed hitters, He's gonna probably throw that sweeper a lot
less and then that's gonna be what sinker changeups. I
think he just has like less strikeout potential, probably pitching
to a lot more contact. So that's definitely something that's
floating out there. That's usually these type of splits are
usually about pitch repertoire, and that's what Brandon Fott was
(32:33):
struggling with.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Let's throw up another split. I think we got two
more here, Milwaukee Brewers. We have two or one? Callie,
how many more do we have? I can't remember. I'm
old Milwaukee Brewers home Teamylra. I think this is the
last one. Three twenty seven era, A one point one
seven whip at home on the road. The Brewers pitchers
are not getting the job done a four to three
nine ERA one point four or five whip. I thought
this was also a very interesting stat in terms of
(32:57):
wagering in terms of fantasy productivity to that you know
at home where you think, oh, you know Brewers at home,
it's a home run friendly ballpark, but they've been better
there than on the road.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Dry Counties are going to That apparently is affecting something.
I want to look here overall overall ballpark factor. Wow,
where do you think the Brewers are.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
In terms of what we'll look?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
That's that cast ballpark we're gonna look. It's just overall
ballpark factor. Is it more of a hitter friendly or
pitcher friendly environment?
Speaker 1 (33:27):
I'm gonna say from these stats pitcher friendly, but I've
never known.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
It to be that they are. Because this is looking
at offense, they're the third worst offensive environment at home,
which is weird. They are ninety six, They're twenty six overall.
Only the Cubs and Mariners have a worse overall ballpark
factor for hitters, which is pretty crazy. Yet offensively they're
(33:53):
doing their work there and they're struggling on the road.
So there's another little weird added split is the ballpark. Well, no,
I guess you know that that actually speaks to it.
I'm sorry because it's the three two seven era at
home and for hitters, it's the third worst hitting environment
out there, so it has somehow become just this really
great spot. And I would not have guessed that I
would have been top fifteen hitter friendly environment instead of
(34:15):
being third worst hitter friendly environment. And that speaks to
your home road splits a little bit.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
All right, let's run through some ups and downs. Byron
Boxing three for three or three run homer, double walk
of steel, Brandan Nimo two solo shots for him, Brendan
Rooker four for five with two homers. The downs, Nick
Lodolo just three to thirty DS, gave up six runs. Wednesday, Libertor.
Good news is after a little bit of a break,
the velocity was back. Bad news as the results weren't there.
Five runs, three earned. Brian wu In a rare bad
(34:43):
star gave up five runs and just as an honorable mention,
Lars Nubar o for five with four strikeouts. He missed
the sinko stinko, so you let us down. Kind of
all right, let's go. I feel like right after we
got one and we haven't had one since. Yeah, at
least not one that I found about. I'm sure somebody
would have let us know if we missed the sink Sinkostinco.
(35:05):
Royals put Cole Reagan's on the fifteen day IL not
good retroactor to the eighth with a left rotator cuff strain.
This is a big problem here for the Royals, big
problem for fantasy managers. Do we see Cole Reagan's again
in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Well, yes, yeah, I think we do.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
You do, okay, all right, but.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
It's not good optimism il sins like practically back to back.
This might be something where you let him sit until
all Star break unless it's even worser or whatever. But
this I think we will see him. They need to
play it a little bit safer though.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Jackson Job goes under the knife Tommy John surgery. So
he's done a lot of expectations for him. He wasn't
great this year, and what a surprise, another young man
castaway to Tommy John surgery. We'll see if they can
get his Tommy John right. Speaking of broken pieces in
the rotations, Sean McClanahan triceps has been shut down from
throwing and we'll visit a Nerve special of this week.
(35:58):
I told you, I told you. Oh, I felt weird
about the way they've worded that news on Monday. They
gave us Remember the news on Monday, they were like,
everything is structural okay, but we don't have a timetable. Well,
why if everything's okay, why don't we have a timetable? Well,
here's why, because it's really not okay. Because it looks fine,
but it doesn't feel fine, and that's a problem. Jazz
Chisholm or we canna see Shane McClanahan this year, Welsh,
(36:20):
I say no.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I firmly would say no.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
He is dunsky Jazz Chisholm are removed yesterday for the
growing tightness. Luke Weaver throwing a bullpen session gun Carlos Stanton.
This is my favorite one because you never see this
elbows because he's got both. It's the small joys. He
was wonderful yesterday and double a summerset. Marcus Stroman also
pitching that game, zero earned runs during the third. I
(36:45):
know the Yankees can't wait to get Stroman back. What why? Why?
I I sat and I watched David Peterson throw an incredible,
a complete game shutout. Davidson threw an amazing shutout. Sean
and I make his next rehab start on Sunday. Frankie
(37:05):
Montas is gonna make one on Friday. Let's get to
the best bets of the day with Joey p and
the Welsh. So yesterday I had a fun bet there
with mister Lighter. We're gonna move on from that though.
Today Code I Senga. I'm gonna double down on my
run lines because they were good yesterday, so let's do
it again. Senga at home. Mets are feeling it right now.
Give me them on the run line minus one and
(37:27):
a half at minus one oh four. Senga on the
mound against the Nats. Let's sweep them Nets. Let's go
Detroit with Scooba on the mound on the run line
minus one and a half at minus one eleven at
Schooble against the lowly Baltimore Orioles school has been brilliant,
so I'm confident there. And give me the Chicago Cubs
on the run line minus one and a half at
plus one oh six with tie on against the Pittsburgh
(37:49):
Pirate offense. That is absolutely abysmal. So run line City today, Mets, Tigers, Cubbies.
Let's go Welsh. What are you have of the people?
I like that.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
I'm a Rico by the way, it's Joey p and Ricos.
So these are not oh.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
It is there's your Jay.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
There's the Jay, not a Rico.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
This is he was so attentive because we screwed up
some of our bet things, and Kelly was so damn
attentive about all that that he forgot to fix the Arico.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah, well, the go Maybe Rico will like these. We'll
find out. Jacob Mizzerowski makes his debut today. Four and
a half strikeouts. It is tried and true and beautiful.
Whenever these rookies come up, you get low K numbers.
It's I think it's a really good advantage, especially if
it is a high strikeout guy that is who Mizerowski is.
Command can be issues, but he's cut it by like
two walks per nine so far this year. I just
(38:36):
love the potential for this because it's going to be
high v.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Low.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Secondary stuff is nasty as long as he's not walking
a bunch of guys. I think Brandon Donovan might give
him some issues, but four and a half plus on
the strikeouts. Getting to five with plus money is an
easy take for me. You talked about the Tigers and
Trig scuobles some Scooby snacks. I think the Tigers are
going to give him. Going up against Dean Kramer, I
love first five team total runs, So the Tigers to
(39:02):
score five run or sorry, three runs through the first
five I'm gonna make that bet, and Scooble's gonna hold
it down. And then the Houston Astros run line minus
one and a half, so I've win by two runs
a little bit minus money there. Up against the White Sox, gimme,
gimme Astros, Tiger's first five team total runs and Miserowski
(39:22):
on the strikeouts. Those are my best bets.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
All right, Place your bets over a FanDuel. Remember fantasypros
dot Com slash leading off that five bucks, get two
fifteen botus bets when you win and download the Betting
Pros app. Use the Permo code leading off, and you
get seven days of the free trial. Lots of home
runs yesterday and none from me Boo. I went with
the wrong man. I went with Lindor. It should have
been Sodo, So today I'm gonna go with Sodo for
my home run. George still at the top of thirty
(39:46):
Wonky still representing the twenty one. Twenty is still how
you get on the board, and twenty one is the
number of the Sami Sosa jersey. That's autograph from Christine
auction we're giving away. So give me Sodo today for
the home run. Call Welsh, what do you have for
to be?
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Shout out to George by the way first to thirty
on there too.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
That's very impressive. Thirty by by the fifteenth of June.
Very impressive, George.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Yeah, hand up, that's awesome. I'm gonna go with my boy,
carry Carpenter. Carry Carpenter against the writing all day, every day.
Remember the I had that one where he hit the
three and I kind of was like, well, maybe well
Kerry Carpenter and went away. I instantly went to carry
Carpenter today. I'm not gonna second guess it, So give
me carry Carpenter hopefully, and maybe his hit can get
those team total runs through the first five for the Tigers.
(40:28):
So that's where I'm going.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Everyone's getting real malthy about Michael Harris because he had
a home run yesterday. Go ahead, you want me to
lighter him tomorrow, wait for the Michael Harris know I'll bury.
I'll bet his over on you know, stolen base, not
so you have to get on base to steal a base.
I'll bet the the over on his total basis or
(40:50):
something like that. Fantasticank you You'll have to tune in
tomorrow for that. That'll do it for us, But the
story of the game goes on for the Welsh. I'm
Joey P. We'll see you next time. Kids.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
