Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros MLB. This is Leading
Off Live and it's b Joey P. Joe P's a
be with me. Of course is the Welsh and it's
all of you, the Peanuts and the cracker Jacks. Here
on our twitch Twitch dot tv slash Fantasy Pros. That's
where can watch us live Monday through Friday. And you
better start watching now because football seasons around the corner.
We're gonna doing football content here on the Twitch channel.
(00:25):
But of course if you ever miss us live, you
could always watch us on the YouTube Fantasy Bros MLB.
That's a channel to subscribe to Welsh. What a wacky
weekend of baseball Saturday. One of the worst pitching days
I've ever seen in my entire life. We've got more injuries, unfortunately,
to talk about. But we're gonna start the show today
with something very exciting. Christmas came earlier than even we expected.
(00:49):
Oh and I'm frozen. I'm frozen on Christmas? Am I back?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
You were so excited, You're back. You were so excited,
you were just about to do it, and he's gone, Bagne,
you have to restart that segment, all right, redo it
because you were so excited.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I feel like it's kind of the moment.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Come on, take two, slate, We're gonna slate it. Hold on,
we're slating it all right, jo Jack cagleon major league debut.
Take two, and.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Welsh, I'm so excited because Jack Caglion is coming up.
That's right, baby, the Royals prospect Jack Caglione is coming
up from Triple A twenty two years young. H He's
been absolutely incredible in Double A. In Triple A three
twenty two, three eighty nine, five ninety three combined slash
fifteen homers and fifty six RBIs, two steals and apartures
(01:36):
in a paratree. Yeah, so why he's got forty six strikeouts,
I don't care, so is everybody else in Major League Baseball.
At least give me some home runs. This is great
news for Fantasy, great news for the Royals, This is
great news for America that Jack Caglione is now up
with the Royals, and way sooner than we even anticipated.
We thought maybe in the next week or two, more
like two. But Welsh, I'm very excited. Nice job by
(02:00):
the Royals, who look, let's be honest, they're desperate for
some outfield productivity and that's where he's been playing. So
you're also gonna get dual eligibility with him pretty soon
at some point where he's gonna play first base and
outfield in your fantasy leagues.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, it's everything that we wanted. I mean from a
hyped get you know, fantasy standpoint, it's like, this is
a guy with absolutely tremendous power. It is a plot.
I mean, you put him in the home run derby
tomorrow and he's gonna probably light up some stuff. He's
got a bad with rate and that's gonna be the
thing to watch. I don't think this is quite Jordan
Lawler esque, you know where Lawler It's like he's hitting
(02:33):
and hitting, but he's got the secondary breaking pitch issue
and they got exploited. He's got a lot of plate coverage.
Caglion does he mashes baseball's he just chases a bit.
So we're gonna see which direction it goes. But this
is absolute major league power. This is what we had
been kind of selling and talking about, and you know
we had you know, Van Rod tweeted out, you know,
(02:53):
thinking fantasy pros for you know, as we talked a
lot about CAGs, and you know, when we do the
prospecting segment, sometimes we go back to the names that
warranted and we kind of come back to give you updates.
And we did that multiple times with Kaglione, and I
think it was about a month ago I said I
wouldn't be surprised if he jumped from Double A. And
then a couple of weeks ago we started talking about
that this was the right move to do because Super
(03:15):
Two's are close. We were talking about the soft air.
It's like it could be in a couple of days
and maybe they're going to benefit from this, but the
Royals said, screw it, this is a bat that can
help us now they need an offensive surge. And then
the fantasy idea of this is going to be the
big question of like what do people do? And the
answer is probably just yes, like whatever you're asking. If
(03:36):
Kaglion is out there, yes, but he's probably not because this.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Is a.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Well, this isn't even just like Nick Kurtz. You know,
Nick Kurtz was a very exciting in our world. CAGs
expands that this is one of those bigger than life
type of prospects. I don't know if you saw this
as well. Patrick Mahomes last night did a tweet with
the Office where it's happening. It's happening, like he quote
tweeted Jeff Passon doing this saying, this is going on.
(04:05):
The number one quarterback in the NFL is excited about
a prospect. Obviously, fat falls and royals and stuff. So
there's a big, big look at this and we're all
going to be locked into it. But yeah, the answer
is yes, expect maybe some potential strikeout issues in batting
average stuff, but also like, don't be surprised when he
rocks one four seventy, and don't be surprised when a
(04:28):
pitcher tries to challenge So like, oh, I don't care
about this kid, and you get some picture that's going
to try to challenge him with a heater and Jack
Gaglione drops it in his first or second game. So
there are high hopes for Kaglion and hopefully people have
got him.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
He was my favorite prospect in last year's draft. And
you go back and watch the show we did last
season on the MLB Draft, which it's funny. I mean,
how impactful was that show? Looking back on it? In
less than a year ago. We did a full breakdown
and we already saw cam Smith, right, We've already seen Gaglione,
We've seen Kurts. I mean it's wild like the pathway
(05:00):
has been so quick for that class, and I thought
it was a terrific class and I'm not surprised at all. Now,
before we get to more depressing news, I want to
get to something else positive, which well, it's it's June,
which means we're giving away our hose Air Mirror's jersey
as promised. So congratulations to positive Grouch. Yes it pays
to be positive. Apparently Grouch understood the assignment. Grouch subscribe
(05:23):
to the YouTube channel, dropped the comments below and also
rang the bellt Liico's dang and now the grouch positive
Grouch is now going to possess the hose Ara mirror
is signed guardian's jersey. So Grouch hit us up at
mail bag at Fantasypros dot com with your mailing address.
Proof of subscription to Fantasy Pros NLB.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Is in the CHATU is in the chat.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Oh what a beautiful title. Grouch. Go hit us up
mail bag at Fantasypros dot com. That's where you get
the where where's Where's where's positive? Grouch there it is, woo,
don't get the other one. Don't put the other comment
he put up there. He's very excited. Yes, I can't
put the other I'm glad I did not put that
other one. But I'm glad that kind of positivity is
what we need today considering the next thing we're going
(06:03):
to talk about. But when one giveaway it goes away,
another one takes its place. Next giveaway up. This is cool.
There's another retro one cecil Fielder jersey from Pristine Auction.
And look at this. It's the old school cool alternate
blue one. I love this old tiger jersey so cool.
So this is not a Prince Fielder. This is big
daddy cecil Fielder who went to Japan and came back
(06:25):
and at fifty one home runs one year and blew
my mind as a kid because nobody was hitting fifty
home runs when I was born in the eighties. And
look at this. Look at this jersey from Pristine.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Aux does have an amazing autograph. I just want very cool.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
I can see it in there. It's very you.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Can it's a very pretty good looking autograph, like not
everybody's good looking.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
He's a big boy, he's a good looking man, and
we're giving away this jersey right here again. Subscribe to
the YouTube channel, drop your comments below and be like
positive Crouch winning Sun Joey.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Do you realize that that guy that you just looked
at his jersey he has a grandson in professional audio?
We just want to point that.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Out, care Corbyn Burns, let's point that out. MRI coming
through today. I think he went at five in the morning,
probably your time, so it's already happened, so we'll see
whenever we'll get the results. But it wasn't good, Corbyn
Burns said, elbow felt dead. It's not going to be
a minimum stay on the IL, I can promise you
that much. I fear the worst, as we usually do
(07:22):
with these things, but I'm trying to look for an
alternate span here. So if Corbyn Burns, let's say, worst
case scenario, Gallon has been terrible, Lawler might start to
have value again. I'll tell you why. Why wouldn't a
team want to go after a Soarez or another piece
potentially from the Diamondbacks and maybe that would open up
(07:44):
a pathway for Lawler again? Could you see the Diamondbacks
if the Burns news is negative, making some moves and saying,
you know what, not this year, not with the pitching
staff we have, and obviously it's going to be a while.
If it's a Tommy Gehen or something like that, you
wouldn't get Burns back for quite some time. So maybe
a retool and getting some pitching depth back would be
the way to go. And they've got some pieces to
(08:06):
move that a lot of contended teams would.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Like one hundred percent think, regardless of what happens with
this with Burns, the Diamondbacks are in a they're in
a phase right now where they've got to start looking
at trading away. Like there's only two moves and they
involve trades. You've got to make a desperation move to
trade in and fix this team, or you're going to
start trading out because they've got a lot of guys
(08:28):
that are on final year contracts. Zach Allen would be
an easy sell if he can ever pitch well Suarez,
Maybe they look at Lords Randall, Gritchik. They've got guys
and then bullpen pieces, Shelby Miller. They've got players that
they could trade. They would actually probably become one of
the best trade teams, trade partners for anybody in MLB,
(08:49):
because they've got something across the board and it could
make Lawler out there. We have to see with Burns.
We haven't gotten the MRI results yet. He had it
at five in the morning. He said he didn't feel
a pop or here a pop I think was the word.
Let me see what it was, he said. He said
there was no popping sensation. But the look on his face,
he instantly knew. He said elbow, and he looked defeated,
(09:10):
looked kind of sad, he couldn't go anymore. He knew
something was wrong. I'm hoping without the popping sensation, this
is not a Tommy John. But it does feel like regardless,
like the good news is going to be that this
isn't like a season ender. But that also could be
he's out until after the all start. But oh yeah,
and I think that.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Would be and that would be the equivalent. Regardless, that
would be.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
The definition of like them having to just retool this roster.
I mean, Ryan Nelson could go in the rotation. Ryan
Nelson's actually the sneaky guy. We should talk about it.
If he goes back in the rotation because EDWARDO. Rodriguez
is coming back pretty soon. I got some video on
him if you guys want to see him give He
gave up three homers and bocked in a fourth run
against complex rookie ball White Sox players. It was not good,
(09:54):
but Ryan Nelson could have some fantasy value, and then
if the Diamacks start trading, Jordan Lawler would have some value.
All contingent. By the way, I'm like Tory Tory Levello
going away because he can't make the right decisions. But yeah, down,
my backs are close to selling. You should be very
fearful of the Corbyn Burn's owner. But fingers crossed, Yeah, I would.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
You can cross your fingers and your toes. I think
we all know it's going to be a lengthy absence
at the very minimum. And look, it's Grouse's birthday month,
so look at that. Wow, we didn't even know that.
Just boom, it's random. It's random.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
My mom's birthday today, by the way, Yay, happy birthday Mama.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Welch and you know, Welsh before the show was a
little skeptical of the excitement level for the cecil fielder Jersey.
I was excited. It was way more excited than the
Nico Horner jersey. I want a cecil fielder. Look at
the comments of the chat. We're great the cecil fielder
Yankee Legend size four XL. There's so many comments in
here about the cecil fielder jersey. Everybody's excited about this.
(10:50):
It's made of a recycled circus. Tent I thought that
he was a big boy. I don't think he was
that big, but he was a healthy man.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Wear does a dress he could wear it? Does a
dress maybe?
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yes? And a happy birthday to my mobile Shawl cross there.
All right, let's get some more depressing pitching news. Nady
Valdi went on the fifteen day iel, not surprising triceps fatigue.
He was saying, how you know we're going to get
the start and see how it goes. Well, it's gonna
go to the il. So judge accordingly, this is not
good for the Rangers, a team that has not hitting.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
They got Jack Lighter. Good thing they got Jack Bander
and to keep holding.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
His way back. Yeah, Garrett Crochet was really good yesterday
Fan twelve. Yesterday, I gave up just one run in
seven innings against the Braves. Cal Rawley also just tremendous.
I mean, how fantastic has cal Rally been this year? Welsh?
I mean leading the league in home runs? Right, he's
right up there? Is it? Twenty two now he's out
or twenty three? I gotta see what twenty three?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
First? Like hit sixty something and I think the lead
was forty one or forty three by Salvador Perez. So
he's got a legit shot to hit the most homers
ever by a catcher in the season if he keeps pace.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
I've got fun facts. You're ready for some fun facts
on cal Wally this year. He has homer from both
sides of the plate in the game. He is homered
from the left side in the game twice from the
left side of the batter's box in a game, homered
twice from the right side. And he's the first catcher
in Major League Baseball history to do all three of
those things in the same year. That's pretty cool. That's
a fun stat right there. You like that stat nugget.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
He's the first catcher, first catcher, player, first catcher catcher.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
To ever hit two home runs in a game from
the left side, from the right side, And what was
the other one I just said. Now I just closed it.
So I have both in a game by something like that. Yeah,
from both sides of the plate in the same game. So,
I mean cal Rawley just crushing life.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
I mean, and he's been the offensive game about his
giant butt. Yes, So I don't think there's any other
catchers with giant button nicknames.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah, Walkey Penguins says, I have no idea why away
from drafting cal Rawley since he's been my favorite catcher
for three years. Well, that's on you, Wonkey. I don't know,
you know what the deal is.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
It wasn't super interested in him either. It's just the
thing we're gonna have to come to terms with and
that'll be like an off season thing is just don't
get high like batting average, as much as we want
to get it. It kind of drives us sometimes. And
like Cole Rawley say, lngliers like the guys you look
and you're like, wow, Adly and Will Smith they can
hit for average blah blah blah, and then you just
kind of discount a guy that you know is in
(13:14):
that two thirty range. But I mean they all kind
of tinker down, you know. I mean, how many are
hitting over three hundred right now? Will Smith, Yeah, there's
not many capable catchers, especially starting catchers, that are there.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
And I'm actually I mean he was kind of the
same Adp as South right roughly.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I think he was even maybe a little behind. He
was behind him.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Oh he look how different those two seasons have gone
a year to date so far for those two Speaking
of the Royals, look at that transition. Chris Bobich terrific
again on Sunday, nine strikeouts, seven innings. He continues to
be great. Jacob de Grom. All eyes were on him
after the finger issue he had last time, one run,
six innings, only a couple of strikeouts though, so we'll
keep that, you know, just keeping an eye on it.
(13:57):
I'm not saying good or bad, saying he made the start,
that's good. I don't know if anybody was hotter this
week or even over the weekend. And Junior Kamin arrow
two more homers. His ops has jumped from six eighty
two to eight oh three over that span, so he
is had a terrific stretch here. The ballpark is going
to continue to help him. Welsh For those of us
(14:17):
like myself who practice patients with Junior Kevin Arrow. It
has certainly been rewarded over the last ten days.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, and he's going to press that top five third basement.
I mean I guess if you go, it would be
you got Devers, You've got Machado, You've obviously got Ramirez
if you Riley is in there, and then like who
after those four whom I'm missing, Like because Jazz is
going to be at third base, Like he's in.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
That Jazz significant time.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Like that's yeah, I'm just saying he's back. He's like
going to be back and.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Like oh yeah, oh they were Mirror's Machado, right, So
that's in terms of like, yeah, you Devers, Well he
won't qualify third base after this year.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yeah, I mean talking this year.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah, but I'm just saying, like I wouldn't be shocked
if he went past fourrez at the end of the day,
Like that's.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
What no it, But I mean, yeah, I forget Vlad
like qualifies on like.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Hey, ESP, Junior's got thirteen bombs right now, just look
at the stats. He's got thirteen homers, thirty seven RBI.
Vlad's only got eight and twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Are you gonna take Junior over Vlad.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I'm just saying it would not shock me if Junior
had better stats than Lad when all of a sudden done,
Now Vlad's got better a batting average most likely. But yeah,
and Austin Riley right now too, ten homers, thirty three
are I mean, this week was so monstrous that he
kind of he got caught up to the pack to that.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Time, and I think that's maybe the more important thing
to get focused on, is just like Cameronaro's now in
that grouping, and that was kind of the projecting of
being so high on him. Yeah, you know, there was
a period of time in the draft season where I
was the highest on Cameron Aro, and then we had
like a collective that kind of jumped in and had
him in that sixty seventy range. He had his negatives.
Remember the guy, by the way, where's the guy that
(15:55):
came and blamed me for ruining his fantasy season for
forcing him to draft junior Cameronaro? Yeah, it look a
little bit better.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I haven't seen them at all. I'm gonna take an
l guest on Mark Ventos. Of course, I am whips.
He's been terrible and it's not like I don't have
him in leagues, and I'm just I'm struggle bus with
to cut him because I'm just concerned with what's going
on with baby. So yeah, a huge l on Viento's
you know what. I think he might have been, at
the end of the day, unfortunately, one of these guys
(16:22):
that really started to believe his own hype. I don't
know if he put the work in on the off season.
I think he looked like he was like, Hey, I've
established myself. I'm the man right now. He had a
great regular season, he had a terrific postseason, and I
saw him out there taking a lot of photos and
doing a lot of ops and doing a lot of stuff,
and I'm thinking to myself, all right, well, hopefully the
kids enjoying himself, but I hope he's putting the work in,
and maybe just didn't put the work in this year,
and now his job is kind of teetering on the brink.
(16:45):
I want to talk about Saturday because Saturday was one
of the absolute worst days I've ever seen for pitching implosions. Collectively.
We've been doing this a long time. I don't know
if I've ever seen a worse one. I got up
on Sunday morning, and I started looking around, going what
what what? Who gave up? What? How? So here's the
some of the awful ones. HAZs Lozardo twelve earned runs,
(17:06):
where you know his mattresses left him out there to die.
Will Warren and Robbie Ray gave up seven earned runs,
and Brandon fought did not get a single out, gave
up eight earned runs. So which to you was the uh?
I say, the quintessential implosion, the best of the worst.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
For you, that's super easy. It would be Brandon five somebody.
I'm not taking credit for this because somebody else wrote,
but I don't remember who did it, so just credit
given to them if you see it. But someone said
that Brandon fought through the first yes hitter because all
he did was give up yes hits across. He didn't
get a single out, He registered zero out the first
(17:46):
yes hitter in baseball.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Rather than Brandon gass hitter, I think that would be Yeah,
it could be yes.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Someone also did post it might have been like air
Cross or something that was like, you know, someone out
there had two of these three. And I saw someone
post that they had all three of Will Warren five
and Lozardo in their lineup, and it was a points league,
and each one of them scored at least negative twenty
four points. That guy got like negative seventy plus points
(18:14):
just from those three players. I've never seen anything like it.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
But the worst part is it was no, it was
not like there was a warning sign Will Warren had.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Been Branda fought.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
There was. There was absolutely Brandon fought. You have to
own that one if you started Branda fat. But Warren
had known great over his last four or five starts.
Robbie Ray had been terrific, and Hazus Sozarto was like
top five in cy Young. There's no way you were
sitting probably any three of those guys. The Brandon Fott one.
That's one of the you break it, you buy it,
you know what's going on.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
But yeah, I don't think it's like, you know, oh,
you learned a lesson from starting Brandon Fott. It's just that,
like we talked about it on the trade video, he
hadn't expected over six era. You know, there were a
lot of numbers that we're already telling you, like, hey,
regressions in the future. Unfortunately, regression can smack you in
the face. When you're not looking, and sometimes it isn't
even you know, there aren't massive warning signs like that,
(19:03):
like the Lozardo one. He'd just been unhit aable all season.
There's a little part of you that's like, do you
expect him to continue at this level?
Speaker 1 (19:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
But you also expect him to give up twelve and
runs in a game.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
No.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
It just it happens, And it was for whatever reason
it happened collectively, just to end out May, just to
ruin everybody's end of May. That happened negative seventy points.
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Let's talk a little rookie. Looky, Cole Young one for
four with an RBI. So, twenty one year old shortstop
now second baseman came up and if only there was
a program talking about him last week, he might have
been able to get even ahead of that curve. So
were you surprized that Cole Young got called up so
quickly there? And what should we expect from fantasy out
of him in the weeks ahead?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
No? I mean remember you were like, I don't know
when will come up, and I'm like, hey, look out,
there's there were some rumors floating around that he might
be coming up he had hit really well in the
miners and they just kind of had that hole there.
So I don't think I projected he would come up
Friday or anything like that, but I thought it was
in the very near future. And then he came up
like that day.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
It was crazy how fast it happened.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, I think there's a lot of good stuff about Coy.
Young is a type of hitter. He won't start there,
but you know, he could hit at the top of
the order, makes a lot of contact. Seattle's going to
like temper and taper down some of his offensive stats on,
like where he could hit homers. He could steal some bases.
I think it's going to be a little bit more
real life. I've always thought Cole Young might be a
little bit more real life than anything else where He's
(20:24):
going to just make a lot of contact. He's not
like Jacob Wilson or anything like that. But the counting
stats will have to see where they go. But he
could steal some bases. He's probably a fifteen team league
middle infielder. If you're desperate into twelve and you don't
have anything else, like, why not take a shot at
Cole Young right now? Because he should go the rest
of the season, but it was really nice to see
him out.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Marcello Mayor or Cole Young.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Oh, I would go with Marcello Mayor.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Okay, I'm trying to give people like a gauge.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
On better hitting environment has a chance to probably, I mean,
no coy Young could hit high, but I think I'll
take Marc.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Because I kind of see them in that similar van,
people looking at them, you know, and saying, Okay, which
one do I like more?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
It might be close. Yeah, they might be this year.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Mick abel is going to be back again, starting against
the Blue Jays, so another spot star for him. And
that's the rookie looking for today. But that's not the
only rookies we're talking about. We already talked about Jack
ag leone, we just talked a little about Cole Young,
and now it's time to talk about some more rookies
because it's time for prospecting with the Welsh. That's right,
(21:25):
it's time to dig deep for the names in the
minor leagues that are going to make an impact in
your fantasy league soon. So Welsh, let's kick things off
here with quick hits on the big names. Let's start
with Roman Anthony. The Red Sox are dying right now
for some help. They are absolutely hoping to get some offense,
just something. At some point, the Red Sox are just
(21:46):
kind of looking at each other. If you were talking
about Korra swinging for this, I don't think that's gonna happen.
But I know we're gonna talk about Crawford a couple
of guys too, But I want to talk about Roman
Anthony first, real quick.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah, we got a couple of quick hitters at the
top is what we'll actually do. We'll go quick hitters
and then we'll talk about three prospects that deserve a
little bit more attention. Roman Anthony. Just as I said
this earlier in the show, just kind of come back
to it. The Super two date is sometime this week,
So at the end of this week or next week
is a timeline for any player that is being manipulated
(22:18):
on playing time. It kind of feels like Roman Anthony
is that I think they brought up like Nate Eaton
or something from Triple A, Like they had an opportunity
to bring up someone on the outfield they didn't. Roman
Anthony is coming off of a month where he just
hit over three hundred, hit three seventeen, he had hits
in six of his last seven games. He's got his
batting average over three hundred, He's got a three four
(22:40):
to six slash. Right now, Roman Anthony is going to
be up manipulation is telling us him. And then obviously,
if I can even just jump into Bubba Chandler, they're
the two most obvious. And we actually said Bubba and
Roman Anthony with CAGs, we're the top three to look at,
and we joked, what if Tags beat them all? Well
he did. He did beat them all. So we've got
(23:01):
Bubba and Roman Anthony who I think are on Manipulation watch.
And Roman Anthony has done amazing. Bubba Chandler just had
another start where he struck out eight. He's going deeper
into games. This has got to be at the end
of the week, so we only talk about it and
not like we want to kill everybody's brain every single
(23:21):
week about it. But both of these guys have not
only been fantastic, not only are they the number one
hitting and pitching prospects to kind of bank on, but
also the manipulation time looks like it's coming to a
close in the next couple of days. So these guys
could actually be coming up here in the very near future,
both of them.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
So Bubba Chandler, Roman Anthony, Let's talk Ian Seymour for
a second too, because Yeah, Ian Seymour is a guy
that I've been holding onto in my home league for
a while. And Lttel just had another decent outing, which
I think against all odds and everybody who's waiting on
Ian Seymore. I know bas had some struggles this year.
(24:01):
So what's the path for Ian Seymour right now look like?
Because I think that's the question. It's a it's not
a matter of is he ready, because when you look
out the strikeout right, it's been fantastic and you look
at what he's done so far this year, he is
completely I think over the last year and a half,
you know, taking that next step forward that he need to.
And I know he's not like a twenty three year
old pitching prospect, he's a little bit older there, but
(24:22):
it seems like there's nothing left for him to prove
at triple A. So how does he get up to
the major leagues as a starting pitcher this year?
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Well, I mean, I think it's gonna have to be
a move. I mean, this is only meant to be
an update with Ian Seymour, but like, there's gonna have
to be some battle the Rays are gonna have to
come to terms with where maybe you're gonna have phantom
ils on a player that's been struggling, maybe there's an
injury coming in. The only reason is because Ian Seymour
is leading Triple A in strikeouts. He's got the highest
(24:49):
swinging strike rate you find a stat K minus walk percentage.
He's at the tippy top. He is absolutely capped out
at Triple A and he's gonna get an opportunity soon.
And there's a lot of swinging stuff in that game
that you know, He's not as sexy as a lot
of these other guys. We've obviously talked about, you know,
Jacob Mizarowski before, and we had talked about make Abel.
He's gonna be a guy that's gonna sneak in pop
(25:10):
up and I think it should be in the very
near future because there's very little being learned from Triple A.
I think they would actually benefit from getting him into
a major league start to see what's happening. So be
on the lookout for a and Seymour very shortly.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
All right, That's that's exciting news because I again I
just keep looking at every start to start with him,
and everything's been great. Ratios are terrific. It's just what
are we doing here? And I know that the rotation
has been Okay, I'm with you. I want to see
what he can do with the major league level because
I think he might be better than at least two
of the five guys that they've got currently going theoretically.
All right, let's talk pot some of the theoretically. Let's
(25:43):
talk about Justin Crawford literally for a moment, if we can.
So Crawford as a player that we've you know, discussed
before Philadelphia Phillies outfielders. So what's got you paying attention
to him recently?
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Well, he's absolutely dominated triple A forty nine games so
far this year, he's hitting three thirty eight. This is
Carl Crawford's kid, of course, if people don't pay attention
to that, still only twenty one years old, so he's
very young for the level. Then I think that's maybe
the important thing too, is this is not just yes,
he's been you know, moved through the organizations. He's been
with him a couple of years, but he's able over
(26:17):
the last three years to move all the way up
to Triple A as a twenty one year old, dominating
at an incredible rate three thirty eight average with an
over four hundred OBP. He's not a big slugger though
he's got one homer, but he has twenty stolen bases.
But I just also wanted to point out I'm firmly
impressed with what he's doing in his hitting profile. So
(26:38):
forty two percent hard hit rate is actually pretty impressive
for him. With a one ten max EV and an
average TV in Triple A of almost ninety one. That's
showing some power potential. But he's got a really low
launch angle it's around two degrees, so he's going to
have to learn to get the ball in the air
if there is going to be future power. But there
might be future power, and the most impressive that goes
(26:59):
along with the strikeouts. Guy's got an over ninety percent
zone contact rate, which is absolutely absurd. Doesn't also strike
out for eight percent swinging strike rate, which is absolutely crazy.
There's just such a good profile. He's a good defender.
I think we could see him very very soon in Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
All right, let's move to Ryan Ridder for a moment.
Welsh again, I'm trying to go through the prospects, trying
to find out where they might be landing. Here for Ritter,
we're looking at a guy currently infielder, right, So, obviously
the Colorado Rockies certainly are a team that are going
to be sellers. The question is how much do they
have that other teams want to have heard some rumblings
(27:36):
about Ryan McMahon being a guy potentially, so right now,
Ritter is a shortstop playing in over the Colorado system.
He's got one hundred and ninety nine at bats sixteen
home runs so far this year. That's a lot of
power for this young man. Three zero seven batting average
for sixteen ops A ten to fifty nine ops overall.
So let's talk about Ridder for a moment. H twenty four.
(27:57):
Could we be seeing him this season potentially?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yeah, that's the that's the play. Those sixteen homers, by
the way, in Triple A are the second most in
Triple A, so I mean the power output. And he's
not his minor lege affiliate's not in Colorado, it's an Albuquerque.
Just as a point out. But this is another one
of those guys not striking out a lot, walking a ton,
twenty percent k percentage, fourteen percent walk rate, massive power.
He's got a three four six slash right now. There
(28:22):
is obviously openings on this team. Is they're going to
start selling off pieces. Ryan Ritter is going to be
a force that we're going to see in the second half.
We hope, you know, obviously that the home ballpark is
going to benefit him even a little bit more. But
you know, some of the underlying stuff is pretty decent.
Big launch angle, one ten max EV he's got. Surprisingly,
(28:42):
he actually has a lower average X velocity than Justin
Crawford does want to point out hard hit rates, okay,
but he's just hitting the ball really well. He gets
it in the air, kind of optimizes. He's one of
those optimized guys, and you're not going to take a knock,
you know, because hitting in like the PC, we'll just
inflate stuff. But you're gonna go to Colorado where it
(29:03):
like inflate stuff, you know. So he really has the
potential for his offensive profile to kind of keep ticking up.
He's an interesting name that's not on a lot of
people's radars should be up in the very near future
and probably holds the gig through the rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
All right, Let's talk about a pitcher from the Triple
A system of the Guardians right now, and it's Parker Messik.
He is three and one right now over ten starts,
two six four ERA forty seven innings. He has sixty
two strikeouts. He does have twenty four walks and the
walk rate a little higher than he wanted to be.
The whip is at one point two four. We do
have Shane Bieber working his way back already, so that's
another piece that's coming back to that Guardian's rotation. Does
(29:39):
that make the path more difficult for Parker Messick or
do you think that the Guardians are going to lose
patients with the Slay Chacone's of the world and possibly
give him a start before we even see Bieber ready
and healthy to make one.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Well, the one thing we found out because so Bieber
pitched out here on Saturday. They're already moving him up
to Double A, and he pitched like two in the
third inning I think it was on Saturdays, and it
was like forty thirty forty pitches, which is a little aggressive.
He's already going to go up to double A, so
he's going to be up sooner rather than later. But
Parker Messik should be one of the next guys that
(30:12):
gets a look. That's kind of the major point here.
He's almost got fifty innings in triple A so far,
an almost twelve k per nine two six four era,
which is definitely something to pay attention to, you know.
And he's got some good swing and miss stuff. I
mean a fourteen percent swinging strike rate. I think has
got a little bit uptick. That's what he's doing up
in triple A. He's not a big, crazy, you know,
(30:34):
power fastball type of guy, but he's got a decent repertoire,
pitches really good change up, and I think they're going
to give him a look here in the near future.
So yeah, Beaver could hold him back. But if you're
looking for speculation, you could definitely speculate on Parker Messik,
especially if there's like a when he's called up. If
it's a subpar matchup, I'd probably put him in there,
regardless of some of the walk issues.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
All right, So Crawford, Ryan Ritter, Parker Messik, those are
guys to watch on the Prospect Realm right now, and
of course for more prospect information, you could always go
to fantasypros dot com. Check out Welsh's work over there,
and that my friends is prospecting with the Welsh for
this week in Major League Baseball. Follow us on our
YouTube channel, Fantasy Bros MLB. All right, let's get to
(31:16):
some more fun facts here. Welsh Christian Campbell al Rookie
of the Month in April. Here was the slash in
April for Christian Campbell three oh one, four oh seven
four ninety five. In May, it was not as good
a one thirty four one eight four one seventy one
month of May. Welsh, well, a real Christian Campbell, please
stand up?
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Who is he? I wish he would my Rookie of
the year. BET's dying as slow, painful death for Christian Campbell.
Jacob Wilson just continues to hold it. But you know,
I think Bubba did this, but I think it was
on something else. But you definitely have a Jim Ross
thing in there. Go, My god, is that Jack cagleone?
Cagleone just steps into the room with both of these
(31:58):
guys that maybe don't have a strangle hold on the
AL Rookie of the Year. What's the real version of
Christian Campbell. I gotta be honest with you. I think
it's closer to the first month one. I don't think
he's a sub two hundred hitter. I think he's a
really like solidly polished hitter, and he could do a
little bit of everything. Maybe the moving around position stuff
is getting to his head. Also the league just to adjust.
(32:18):
I'm really hopeful that he's going to readjust but you know,
in redraft twelve teams, you've probably had an easy path
to move off of them if you need to.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
I was actually, it's funny we're just talking about that
too when you mentioned the Rookie of the Year stuff.
I didn't even see what Cags's number was today if it.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Was definitely jumped like well, it was plus.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Thirty five hundred yesterday because it was on TV ranting
about it. So I'm fascinated to see where it is today.
I'm going to actually pull it up right now.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I'm gonna guess it's like ten to one. Now.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
I don't think it's that much. I'm gonna say it's
twenty five. I don't think it moved that much overnight.
I really don't. I think people will say, especially that one,
it's you know, those are a little bit more conservative.
Pull it up twelve to to it I found. So
there you go. So I wish I'd betted at thirty five,
but instead I'm just gonna have to bet it here.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
He's still gotta do a lot to be able to
pull that down over. I mean, Jacob Wilson, a rookie
hitting three fifty or whatever the hell he's hitting.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Yeah, but this is if Jacob Wilson hits let's say,
three hundred, when all said and done right, corrects a
little bit, and Caglion hits twenty home runs over the
last ninety games of the season or whatever he got
left here, and the Royals make the playoffs. That's the
story of the god. I mean, he's the narrative. There's
no doubt about that. He is absolutely the narrative. Bet
made by the way. So let's go, let's go three
(33:32):
up and three down. Ryan Yarborough Welsh, I was expecting
him to shoot up ridiculously. He was like fifteen percent
rostered this weekend. He's only up to thirty one percent
rostered in CBS. I don't know what what are people doing.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
It's all these quality just nobody believes in him.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
But at this point, I don't care if you believe
it or not. He's producing. You know, people still running.
Sandy al Contra out there, and Ryan Yarbo is still
out there. Four hits, six innings, one run baseball against
the Dodgers, for god's sakes, Ramirez two for four. We
just gave his jersey away and he gave away another
home run. And Xavier Edwards five for five more. Xavier
Edwards on the show later today for paying attention. Yoshinobu
(34:09):
Yamamoto in the Downs hit hard against the Yankees. Great
weekend for home runs from Moltani and Judge though, so
if you had them. I can't wait to see what
the board looks like after this weekend. My goodness, I
only got one home run. Well should you get one
over the weekend?
Speaker 2 (34:23):
I have no idea. I don't think I got one, all.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Right, I got one stinking run for Alonso, and I
were watching Judge and Otani had bombs all over the place.
So angry Andres Munos ever since, well, shed Andres Munio
is the best closer in baseball he has had consecutive
Bloan saves. I'm just putting that out there, so just
putting in the E three.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Well I said it preseason, but yeah, I shouldn't have
reiterated it, so I cursed him.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
I Kidd and Kyle s dowars zero for four with
three strikeouts. Let's get to the injuries. A lot of them.
Kyle Tucker X rays on the handcame back negative. We'll
see how he goes. Miguel and Dehar likely going to
the IL. So would we see bla day backed up
then in that transaction?
Speaker 2 (35:03):
I definitely think there's a possibility because and you are,
I guess he was in the outfield. They could go
to Kolby Thomas be on the lookout for that, wouldn't it.
I do think that would kind of put a final
like and nail in the coffin for JJ Bleday. They're like, oh, yeah,
they're really just.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Gonna go like he got to pull up right.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
No, No, I understand that, but I'm just saying if
they're done done with him, then it would be probably
Colby Thomas would be the play.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Let's continue on here with some more of these injuries.
Mookie BET's gonna be reevaluated tomorrow, and then you had
Luke Weaver said he felt something in the hamstring, so
he ended up not coming in, so we'll keep an
eye on that. So Devin Williams, no, I don't think
it is. I don't think it is. I think everyone's
gonna freak out. I don't think it is.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
This is how Devin william This is how I win.
Adam Sandler, this is how I win. This is a
Devin Williams sneaks back in. Luke Weaver misses a little
bit of time, he comes in, couple good saves again,
and it's done with. Go pick up Devin Williams if
he's out there media.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
I mean I would still pick up Devin Williams, but
I don't think this is it. Well, see Christian Yelich
got hit on the hand that was pretty bad, but
X rays came back okay for him too. Cole Reagan's
could potentially be activated Thursday against the Cardinals. Kumar Rocker
also slated to potentially start Wednesday against the Rais, and
Bryce Harper was still out of the lineup all weekend,
(36:20):
so we knew that was a serious one. Other injury
news too, some other things were just floating around to
I just wanted to put it up there. We had
when we find it here a couple of things. Okay,
here we go. Emma Chihan three scoreless innings of triple A.
Sean manaia through live batting practice on Monday. So again,
six man rotation is probably coming sooner than later. Some
(36:41):
other news and notes too that I just saw for
some minor league stuff. Jordan Lawler did have a good weekend,
a good Sunday as well. Ronnie Mauricio continues to hit
as well. I'm just kind of putting that out there
for people. I mean, two for four with a walk,
another RBI. He's hitting five hundred. Oh, I know, it's
only nine games. Like Geez talk about like coming back
with some serious uh you know, serious hit tool all
(37:03):
of a sudden, Ifter not playing for a very long time.
Brady House another guy that we had talked about. Two
for four with two doubles. So there's a lot of buzz.
Could we see at some point maybe a flurry at
the Caglione like the breaking of the damn Welsh for
all these prospects potentially this month.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
It's not about Kagleon. It's just it's just about like
there's a.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Bunch of guys. We're talking about Christian Moore, you know,
Cole Young is up already. Like it feels like a
big aggressive wave. We don't always have these many prospects.
I feel like that are ready to actually fly this time.
I feel like we do and it's not always like
that every year.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
The ironic thing though, is if, like I think, if
a lot of guys were brought up really quick, that
might affect the Super two date because it's also about
like call ups and stuff like that. I don't so,
I don't know. I mean, I I get your point.
Like there are the there's like a bevy of dudes
that seem like they would be ready and capable to
come up. I assume a lot of teams were holding
(37:56):
down Bubba, especially Bubba and maybe even Christian Moore with
the Angels and stuff due to this. It's open season,
is the only thing I'm just trying to say is
like it is open season right now. I'm not sure
that just because CAGs was brought up, it's more about like, hey,
we have flexibility, or maybe teams know what they have
in their roster. Or don't have on their roster and
now it's time, you know, fifty games in Triple A
(38:18):
or whatever that these guys are getting. That's a decent
sample size to tell you a lot about these players
that are close to the majors.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Tags are Christian Walker rest of season? I think I'm
more of a curiosity is to see what Caags has
in the tank. I've had it with Christian Walker. I
know that sounds bad, but I.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Know there are a lot of CAGs questions. I'd say
for the most part, it's like I'm gonna just speculate
on CAGs. You got to understand it might not work out.
And yeah, you know there's so many of these rookies
that hurt. You know, we get hurt. We get hurt
with these guys. But is Christian Walker in is two
twelve at this point in the season. This is kind
of similar to my Marcus Simeon thing, Like I've been
a defender of Marcus Simeon, but I'm also trying to
come to terms with like what am I going to
(38:52):
even get when he turns around? What is it going
to look like? The same thing applies to Christian Walker
at this point.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
What's that even going to look like otherwise, I'd rather
see what Kagleione can do. I mean Kglion is a
legitimate top five overall prospect. You know last year was
take a third I think overall. Yeah, he was my
number one. Let's see what the number one got. Ben
Rice has done a good job. But like, let's not
go crazy here. I do want to go crazy on
something though, because it's that time. It's time for the
(39:18):
best bets of the day with Joey p and the Welsh.
And let's start here with Juan Soto against the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Don't look now, kids, but Wan Soto's starting
to pick things up a little bit. It got hot
over the weekend, and I think you can carry that
over against the Dodgers tonight. So let's go Juan Soto
minus one fifteen to score a run. That's a pretty
(39:38):
good number for a guy like Juan Soto gets on
base of that clip. Usually that number is much more
in the negative, but minus one fifteen is too good
to pass up. Also too good to pass up Logan
Web six plus alternate strikeout line plus one thirty eight.
I don't think they're giving Logan Web enough credit, how
good he's been in how many strikeouts he's had this year.
So give me Logan web tonight to be the guy
to go six plus in the altar Casey getting plus
(40:01):
money on that plus one thirty eight. And Xavier Edwards
when five for five seems locked in at the plate,
makes really good contact. He's got a good matchup today
against the Colorado Rockies just to steal a base plus
two forty so for that speeds throt that's a really
good return on investment. Those are my best bets of
the day. Welsh, what do you have for the people
like that?
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Edwards one, it's sneaky because you can walk to and
get on base. I'm gonna go with Jack Flaherty. Give
me Flarity over six point five strikeouts today that is
plus money against the White Sox. White Sox have those moments,
but Flarity, you struck out eight and overs in each
of his last two matchups, so I really like this
for seven strikeouts at plus money. Obviously they are banking
(40:39):
on six and him ending at six, but a little
bit more efficiency and Flarity gets there. I'm gonna go
with the Dodgers run line that is plus money at
plus one twenty four and that's one and a half run,
so that's two runs. You've got Blackburn on the mound,
You've got may I think the Dodgers are kicking it
completely up right now. And that's where my bed is.
(41:00):
Little counter to Joe, and then we'll go back to
a nurfy in this little bit of a danger Murphy
nurfy because it is in uh, it is in Sacramento.
I was about to say Oakland, but it is A's
and Twins love Joe Ryan on the mountain Severino still
got a sub for Era. I'm in a bank that
they're both going to simmer down these offenses. Though that
ballpark is very scary and probably why it pushes it
(41:21):
up to minus one ten if it were in Minnesota.
Wouldn't be surprised that this is minus one twenty five.
But let's go nurfy on the A's and the Twins, all.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Right, don't forget everybody. Go to Fantasy Rose dot com
slash leading off New customers bet five bucks on fandal,
get two hundred and fifty and bonus bets if they
win again. That's only on FanDuel with Fantasy Rose dot
Com slash leading off, Let's get to the home run board.
See what we got today after the weekend All Wonkey,
Penguin and Welsh now sequestered to the right side of
the graphic.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
I didn't get a single homer over those three days.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
I just got one. So what was I I was
at fourteen, I believe. So now I'm at clifteen, so
I am two away. George is at twenty seven. Really
that lead far out at twenty six? Uh, Stanley Sosa
Jersey is still up for grabs. And I am going
with Shoho Tani against the Mets today because well, I
don't see Peterson or Manaya on the mound that he
(42:13):
struggles against those big lefties. Oh, I'm at fifteen, baby, fifteen,
there it is. That's there. Two more, two more baby,
that's it right there, Welsh, we're going for your home
run call.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
Tani's pretty good, Okay. I'm also curious, what's the record,
what's the all time home run boardwe for most in
the season.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Feels like the place is pretty good here.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
I'm only remembering like forties and stuff like that, but
I want to say.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
It was in the high forties.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
I want to say, yeah, maybe Wonkey knows what somebody's
record is. Because George at twenty seven on June set
health seems like the pace is going quite well. I'm
gonna go with Ellie. Let me go Ellie today going
up against Aaron Savale, who's back Roland. I love, I
love Ellie to crush a couple. I'm going for two
sixty one is wow?
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Wow? How great is that? Right? Baseball number sixty one
home runs? Right?
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Both twenty twenty three and twenty four are home run guessers.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Okay, so that'll do it for us, but the story
of the game goes on for the Welsh. I'm Joey
p enjoy a beautiful baseball moment. Thanks for listening to
