of baseball to talk about, a lot of stuff going
on the weekend. I just saw the cycle this morn
with Kelly and Mayor. It was great. Go check it out.
I watched it this morning when I was on my walk.
They had some great conversations about Spencer Schreider. That continues
to be the hot topic everywhere. But I want to
(01:11):
turn my attention to the Braves for a moment, because
the Diamondbacks what a comeback yesterday down ten to five,
biggest night didn't comeback in franchise history. You know, you
meet these moments in a season, Welsh, and it feels
like this was a really tough one for the Atlanta Braves.
I don't know if this is going to be the
one that they can come back from, but certainly a
(01:32):
horrible moment from them, and as surprisingly, I think tough
moments coming out of the Diamondbacks in this series because
with the Corbyn, Burtons news and all that stuff going on,
they could just shrivel up and die and they have not.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Also with the Braves, how apropos that not only did
they have a bummer in their bullpen, they also have
it to blew it in their bullpen. Bummer and blew
it both in there, not to be topped by rysl Iglesias,
who I think legitimately might be out of this role.
They brought up Craig Kimberl and I know everybody kind
of rolls their eyes, what was that with the Braves
(02:10):
and stuff? But Rysolglazias has been horrible. He gave up
three He blew this save. Diamondbacks. Both of these teams
have actually kind of gone back and forth of just
who needs it more throughout the season. Diamondbacks have been
on an absolute push down. But I think from a
Braves perspective, the thing that I'm holding most is I
think Rysol Iglasias might lose some saves and we might
(02:30):
want to look at maybe it's going to be Lee
or Kimberl. And on the Diamondback side, Brandon Fott has cooked.
You know, he got saved in this game. He has
I think the worst qualified era of any starter. Now
his expected era had been three runs over, so he
was done. You can let that pack. But it was awesome.
I mean, it was awesome to see katl Marte continues
(02:51):
to drop bombs. Cortman, Carroll getting you know, getting hot
or just trying to find some consistent syasons we were
talking about him. But absolutely ridiculous game if you had
a chance to watch it and Diamondbacks.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Win, Yeah, I sure do. Let's get to some more baseball.
Framber Valdez incredible performance against the Pirates, eleven strikeouts, seven innings,
three for three on the bets yesterday good stuff. Not
so good again. Maybe I'm just tired, maybe whatever it is,
but I rage drop some players this morning in our
fantasy pro league. I'm it's a ten team league, and
(03:26):
one of the rage drops was Jesus Lozardo. I just
I'm I'm sorry. I don't know what's going on there,
but I don't want to stick around to find out
the way her Wire's two good second straight outing where
he's been terrible eight runs in two and a third innings.
These aren't like, oh, four runs, five runs, twelve and
then eight. So his first eleven starts of the season,
I went and did the math here, right, uh two
(03:47):
one five ERA, one point one eight whip. The last
two starts he has an ERI of thirty one point
seventy six with a four to five eight whip and welsh.
I don't know what the answer is to. I mean,
everyone's like, oh, don't get worried, but he's got the
Cubs neck week. I'm not playing against the Cubs offense
next week. There's no way. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I think they said the twenty runs he's given up
over the last five is like the most to qualified
really pitcher has ever given over two starts and for
five innings. It's just ridiculous. I was looking at his
stuff in the game log to find differences in comparisons
versus what he's been doing on the year versus like
what he did in his last start. Number one thing
(04:24):
that stands out is he went primary sweeper in this
he had to dip down. It looks like his fastball
usage he'd been throwing it around thirty four percent of
the time, which is probably setting up the sweeper a
bit more. This one he went from thirty four percent
to twenty three percent and then his sweeper became his
primary pitch. Thought that was pretty odd. Pretty low zone
(04:46):
percentage on the fastball, under fifty on the sweeper, So
your top two pitches are barely over fifty percent. This
is like what Zach Allen was going through. You can
throw some strikes, but you're not throwing the right strikes.
The thing that I'm like, semi optimistic about is his
sweeper still looks great as far as you know with
rate and CSW percentage, but also like he didn't really
(05:09):
get hit. He didn't have a bunch of like hard
hit balls. I think it's a pitch mix thing. I
actually m okay, if somebody rage drops like Joe that
he's just Lozardo, I think I might look to pick
him up, or might look to speculate soon. I think
you'll get right, because you also have to ask yourself,
what is more of the anomaly. Is it the what
eleven starts prior to this, or is it these two starts?
(05:30):
What's the anomaly? But a ten man league does allow
you and gives you just too many of the ability.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
I just look, it's out of nowhere. And he had
been so good, which we all knew wasn't gonna last.
But this isn't bad.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
This is like, oh, it was historically bad, technically historically
bad these last two games, and it's just you wonder
mentally what that might take its toll.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
And look, and a twelve team league, you're sitting them
next week. Don't throw him back out there. In fact,
here's a question, how many good starts do you need
to see from him before you throw him back out.
Is it just one again the Cubs, or you need to.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I think one. I would love to compare it to
the Like I said, it's not a big thing. But
what you do see is he threw a lot less
forcing fastballs, which again like this is another Gallon thing too,
just it's just in my brain from watching him this year.
Is like, if you are not able to set up
your other pitches and then that becomes your primary force,
(06:22):
that's what killed Gallon. He couldn't throw fastball for a strike,
so then you start going heavy, change up and knuckle curve,
and then guys aren't offering at that. And I think
if you have the same thing, Lozardo gets all his
whiffs not off a fastball but sweeper and change up,
and if he's trying to go to those and guys
aren't offering on it, things are messed up. So he
might just need to get a little bit more heavy fastball,
throw more strikes for it, and then it's gonna set
(06:43):
up all the other stuff. I just think it's fixable,
It's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
I think so I think, well, it's fixable, but I
don't know, man, we'll see if he has a third
bad start against the Cubs, lookout.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
I mean maybe you want to own him and then
bench him against the Cubs. That's like what I would
probably do. But again, a ten team, like you said,
there's probably too much good stuff out there. But Lozardo
had been like.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
The benches are so shallow in that league too, I
just won't want to have options. I feel better about
it rather stream guys. You know, Marcus Simeon homer twice
as he continues to be red hot this week. Of
the last seven games as batting average or five hundred,
he's been terrific. Tyler sodas from it at two run
homer and a grand slam. As the A's beat the
crap out of the Twinkies yesterday fourteen to three. Max
Freed got back on track. He was terrific against the Guardians,
(07:27):
one hit, just two walks and six scoreless sittings. Ryan
Pepio again has been quietly really good over the last month.
He struck out eight guys, six innings, two run baseball.
He never seems to get wins. Ryan Pepio, no matter
what goes on, like he's just no decision man. But
Pepio certainly seems like he has figured it out again,
and these last few starts definitely going the right direction.
(07:48):
I think he's a sneaky bilow in a lot of
leagues right now.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, he had a forty two ERA in April, and
then since then he just rattled off at two to
one five in May, and then this June start was
pretty good. He hasn't given up over three hundred runs
since April fifteenth, so there's some pretty decent consistency. He
doesn't walk a ton of guys. He's not a huge
massive strikeout there. I think he's just like a good
starting picture to round out kind of the lower parts
(08:13):
of your rotation. I don't know if there's tons of upside.
I think I'd still rather have Taj on the upside
long term, but Pepio is definitely like running into a
level of consistency. I will point out though he has
a full run higher expected ERA than he's got, so
he's got an elite three point two four point two
to one expected, So there's just kind of a little
(08:33):
regression any thing in there. You know. Again, with like
low strikeouts twenty one percent walk seven, that's average like
he's just like an average pitcher. I don't think I'd
have a massive leash on him if things get bad,
but they haven't been.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Nice to see some first time chatters here with us today. Luke,
it's Luke Eric Ruby. First timers again for joining us.

Amazon on Prime there and get rid of those and
watch us add free here on Twitch. That's what you
want you to be. All right, Let's get to some
(09:06):
more headlines from yesterday in Major League Baseball. A couple
of Rangers things to go over here. Robert Garcia blew
a save, so the opportunities are coming, but unfortunately for
him it did not work out. So we'll continue to
monitor that. If only they had another place they could
go for saves somehow. Anyway, Jack Lighter, no decision, Five
innings of one run baseball. He's one start away from
breaking out of NEPO babyism. Just one start. We'll see
(09:29):
if he blows it at the end.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Five amazing starts.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
And amazing amazing oh stop stop, amazing innings. Oh my god,
Oh my god, Oh my god. I'm gonna throw my
underwear on the stage for five innings. I'm so excited.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Comparative to how you talk about him, this is cy
young type of stuff because you think this guy should
be pitching in low A five starts. What's gonna happen
is he's gonna get hit in this next one and
you're gonna come on here and I told you so,
and it's gonna be the dumbest, most annoying thing on
the planet. Because he said his next.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Really good starts, next start again.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I hope he does it so you can eat that crow.
But we know, like he'll give up four and runs
and you'll find some caveat to it. Jack Lder has
been pretty damn good through fifty innings. He's got a
three and a half right better, Yeah, he's got I
mean again, like is he elite? Absolutely not? Barrels too much.
He doesn't have a good K minus walk percentage and
has expected era is is four point five six. So
(10:27):
like he's gonna come back down to earth.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Next starts against the Twins.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
What it's not just nepo baby stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
One two, three, four five. It looks like his next
start is going to be against the twins.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
He didn't give up nine. He doesn't give up nine,
and then it's gonna be like I'll be right, yeah, yeah,
you know, but I'll be right, which is right.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
But how dare you call it? How dare you call
him awesome? And five inning starters? Chris Sale is awesome
Toik Scooble is awesome. Jack Lighter is becoming serviceable. Let's
not get it over our heels. I gave him cit
maybe said is one start away and I won't call
him a NEPO baby anymore. That's it.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
But come on and or not fro here They were
fighting on Twitter guys yes yesterday.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Speaking of eating crow. Somebody got another home run yesterday,
Pete crol Armstrong to run dinger. Now, Pete Alonzo did
not go yard yesterday? Did he did he go yard yesterday?
I don't think so, because that's what you picked, which
means we're tied.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
That's not who I picked. I I picked I Peter
Alens was my guy today. Yesterday I picked someone who
didn't get a homer. So that's what I do know.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Oh, okay, there you go, So we are officially tied
on the home run boards.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
I told you you're gonna go past. I'm on the
cold I wanted.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
To be there at the same time as you.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I want to hardcore cold streak. I'm not getting another
home or the rest.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Of the year, all right, I don't forget to see
Kumar Rocker the rest of the year. He got sent down.
If only they could make him a closer, that would
be nice, Which again brings us to our Chasing Challenger segment.
That's right, Chasing Challenge is brought to you by Microsoft,
just like the athletes, to push boundaries and redefine what's possible.

the expertise to say, bring it on. In this segment,
we're gonna bring on the Rangers' bullpen for a second.
Can we do that? Please? Look, Luke Jackson didn't work,
Garcia's not working. You've got a guy with a live
(12:25):
arm and a big presence and a big fastball who
isn't long for this season, who is struggling as a
starting pitcher. Why not give it a shot. Put him
in the bullpen. See what he could do at this point.
What's the worst that could happen? You save some innings.
He gets his confidence back just by blowing guys out
of the water for a few appearances. And then you
go okay, now go back and stretch out again, and
(12:47):
maybe we can use you as a starter, or maybe,
just maybe Kumar Racker can take all of his skill set,
move it into the ninth inning where being a little
effectively wild is actually a good thing, and become the
closer for the Rangers as the bats, like Marcus Simeon's
starting to get back on track. So Rangers, it's right there.
I'm hanging to you on a platter. Take it. And

Speaker 2 (13:27):
I will say this before you go into the next thing.
As much as I think you're wrong, on the lighter stuff.
I think you are right on the rocker stuff.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
This is the point that they should do it. They should.
You know, he's a ninety five mile an hour those
two different versions of a fastball. He can pump it
up in a short inning. Maybe he can get to
ninety six to ninety seven. He's got an awesome slider.
It's got a forty two percent with rate, and then
he can even go into a change up in a
cutter and maybe he can simplify his approach. He doesn't
walk a ton of guys either, which is something that
(13:56):
works in his favor. The six percent walk rate. You
would want that in the bullpen. Just let him throw
gas and then let him drop that slider in. He
does not look good as a starting pitcher. He's got
an eight era. Put him in the bullpen because your
bullpen sucks and it stinks, And I don't think that
would be the worst thing in the world to do.
And Bochi got so pissy when it got brought up.
(14:16):
What you should You should absolutely do it, because you're
putting out Luke Jackson and Chris Martin and Robert Garcia.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
No good, He's no bueno. Shout out to JD. Rese
them with prime. Thanks JD. All Right, let's get to
the rookie lookie Jack keg Leona's first big league hit.
So that was a good thing there against the Cardinals.
He also played right field, mad a nice play there.
Matt Shaw three for five, three singles, a stolen base,
two run score. Fill in that stat sheet. We said
it would happen, and it did. Look at us Kyle
(14:43):
Teal getting promoted so finally slashing two ninety five, three
ninety four four two eight homers, thirty Ribi's the fact
that he's playing some first base means going to be
in the lineup every day. I know Elko got called
up to Kyle Teal is going to be in the
lineup every day. Catcher, first base, DH, she's gotta get
at bats. Well, I think it's time. I think you
go out there, and I think you're aggressive on Kyle Teal.
I don't see him getting sent back down anytime soon,
(15:04):
even if he struggles. The future is now for the
White Sox.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, I mean I talked a ton about Kyle Teal
and I was wrong because they ended up going towards
Edgar Carrow. But then we got Teal back, and I
think it actually surprised a lot of White Sox people.
I love the idea that he's going to play some
first base. He's got you laid it out right there.
He can do some dh I think he can be
the second catcher, he can play some first get him
playing time. You hit two ninety five in triple A
and almost four hundred OVP. He's got power, he can
(15:29):
steal some bases. There's some decent offensive threat in his game.
And I love the White Sox doing this. Stop putting
out the Andrew Vaughns and the Michael Tatel, like, stop
putting out these guys that don't do anything for your
organization long term, unless you're trying to build up their
trade value, I suppose. But yeah, give us Elco, give
us Kyle Teal, give us Caro, and then at some
point give us Colson Montgomery. Just give us the young guys.
(15:52):
Kyle TiAl definitely has some nice fantasy value. And that's
a great question right there, of Teal versus Agustin. It's
tough without seeing Teal at this moment, but I do
I think a Gustin Augustin is going to have like
a bigger power potential, but I think Teal might be
more well rounded long term.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
He's a better OBP guy. He's gonna yeah. I think Look,
I think power is I think power is not that
far off. Maybe Ramirez a little bit more in the
power side. It's all so hard, but consistency in leagus
where strikeouts cut against you OBP situations points leagues. I
want Teal, even if he struggles a little bit early on,
I think patience will be rewarded. And I think it's
(16:32):
interesting because it seems like the White Sox have a
plan with these guys Teal my draw. These are guys
that are you know, they they walk, they have good
at bats, you know, they kind of fill the statue.
They're trying to get a better baseline. I feel like offensively,
which is good, it's a good thing your point to
steal some more bases. But at least there these guys
get on base, and that's that's good. Let's swing and
(16:53):
miss in this White Sox future.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Well to your point, like a guy that Colson Montgomery
was someone who thought might break camp with the team,
but he has massive swing and misissues and they sent
him down. They send him down to the developments here.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Did you see recently.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yeah, No, That's what I'm saying is he was so
bad and they hated his swing so much they send
him back down here to Arizona to rework his swing,
and then he has come back up. His stats still stink,
but it's because of the longevity of the season. As
of recent he has picked it back up. But to
your point, it's like they're not gonna they're not throwing
these guys in the deep end, like they're gonna get
them right. And they've got that plan, and Colson has
(17:27):
a chance to be like an impact power bat if
he figured out some of the swing stuff which may
be happening.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Last sixteen games for Colson Montgomery two seventy six, three
eighty two, five eighty six slash, that's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Love it, and we'll probably see him post I would imagine,
like post All Star Game would be a good time
for him to start getting.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
After the Futures Game. I think he might be in
the Futures Game even you never know which we got.
You know what, maybe next week I saw you can
start voting for U you know, All Star Game. We
should do that on the show next week.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I saw the Rockies, the Rockies, but they're like, vote Rockies,
and I was like, which Rocky Who I actually think
the well I got.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
The answer for that. I think I think the answer is.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, you have to think about it. Tom Todd, Hilton.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Todd Helton, Yeah, I want to vote no the offre walk.
My god, why can't I keep want to say Brenton Doyle,
He's no, not no, not Brent Doyle. The other outfield Beck, Jordan.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Beck, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
I think that's the only guy.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Having to have a player is massively stupid. The bad
players that get put into these All Star Games. I
think Joe Mantiply with the Diamondbacks had to one year,
like let's just put the best players, not a player
per team. But they're like, vote Rockies.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Are you going to be? We don't die. We Mantiply
gotta be. Christian Moore three for five with a homer
on Thursday at Triple A, but but Chandler three runs
in two innings than a rain delay unfortunately, want wah.
So that was it for Bubba Justin Crawford Walsh's dude
three for three, three ribies. I don't know what more
he's got to do.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
You got to go over the game, by the way
last night with a quad issue though, yeah, I know,
one started speculating who do you think makes to the
majors first, Bubba Chandler, Brandon woodrow.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Bubba Buba Chandler.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
More on Woodriff later. God, I mean, I couldn't leave
the show with it because I would just walk off
the show. Three up and three down Junior Cameronaro home
run man? Has he been hot? Oh my god? Cal
Raley two for four with a homer. He's at the
twenty four to three RBI. Cal Rowley should get a
little bit more MVP love, Like I know Aaron judges
(19:31):
where he is and where he should be and all
that stuff. I just think it should be a smaller
gap between the two of them because cal Rawley is
catching on top of hitting twenty four home runs. I
just think as of right now, that would be fair.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Tanner Scott also defensively is one of the best defensive
catchers in the league too.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
So yeah, he's really good, but catch.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
They asked him about the home run derby two and
he said he wants to do it, so be on
the lookout for that great.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
I'm sure everything will go swimmingly after that. Tanner Scott
scoils ninth inning is the Mets dropped one to the Dodgers,
but the Mets still have a better record than the
Dodgers do and they're in first place over the Phillies. God,
it's such a that made that perked me up some
today because I'm tired. Mitch Killer not great, six runs,
eight hits. These are the downs for today. David Festa
(20:15):
eight runs, three and two thirds. Oh so, welcome back
to the Shokes and not good. Cole Reagan's five runs,
three innings of work. So Cole Reagan's. You know, we
spent a lot of time crapping all over the season
of Spencer Strider. Can we can we take a couple
of moments and maybe shift the bowl over to Cole
Reagan's for a moment? Can we please?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Sure? I mean, what do you want to you want
to get into it?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I don't know, I mean, where are we at with
col Reagan's. I know, but this is the second time
we had the first start coming back and it's been
bad and we've had injuries and frustrations. I mean, is
another guy too, that I think has just been wildly
inconsistent this year and a massive frustration based on his ADP.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Yeah, I mean one, it stands out right here. He
had a thirty five percent zone fastball percentage, so he
could not the fastball in the zone. You show me
that alone, I would probably tell you he's gonna get
banged around. And that's what happened. He left his change
up in the zone. This is really weird slider in fastball,
just not in the zone at all. It was really
only the change up and then a little bit of
(21:14):
the knuckle curve. He was throwing those for strikes. That's
not a recipe for success. But he has a five
point one ERA, one of the best expected eras in
the league at two point five to nine, So that's
a positive regression play. Not that it's going to get
there or anything like that, but you know, he's still
got the stuff. I'm a buye on Cole Reagan's right now, Like, Okay,
(21:36):
there's definitely some negatives, but he is over it's not
the right word usage of the word, but his pitch
types against batting average is over performing or it's getting
hit more than it should expect. Batting averages lower against
the fastball, lower against a change up, lower against the slider,
lower against every single pitch type. So there is some
(21:57):
positive regression coming. So I'm a buy on call Reagans.
But you know you were worried about starting Bryce Harper
coming off of an injury. You're not worried, but sitting
here worried.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
I had the question was all these other options? I
was like, and you know, one of the options was
Camon Arrow. I was like, well, I'm not sitting Camon
Arrow and Camaro at a home run that same day.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
So but my more point is like, I'm more worried
about pictures coming off of the iya than I ever
am a hitter, So I'm going to give him the
benefit of the doubt. Also, there's there's a lot of
stuff in his game that I think carries over a
year over year, but it's not been good for sure.
But this is screaming. This is going to be my
probably next week pick of a of a trade candidate
is going to be called Reagans.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Michael Harris didn't hit a home run yesterday to me
because I wore a wig or two or three. Now,
Riley Baldwin and akoon Ya. I'm just checking up just
to see how he did. He did it with the
Diamondbacks too, Yeah, that's why I was checking. I was like,
he did have two hits. I was looking at the
box score just now, so that's good raises average at
two thirty two. That's encouraging discouraging. Let's get to the injuries.
(23:00):
Brandon Woodriff. He's gonna go back out on a rehab
assignment eventually because it's a right elbow contusion and he's
gonna need more time, which means more rehab, so he
could be out till the end of June. I've heard
other reports say the All Star break is when he
(23:20):
might come back. I don't know, Welsh, I just just
I'm out of the business of Branda Woodriff. I don't
know what this is.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
How you said it something like he was gonna go
on the Oregon Trail by the way, You're like, he's
gonna hit the He's gonna hit the old rehab trails soon.
And it's like, oh no, Brandon Woodriff has dysentery.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
I've got the Brandon Woodriff blues. He's never gonna pitch
for the bruise I got them Brandon woodrid Blues. He's
never gonna pitch again. That's the news.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Brand wound of Blues, everybody right here on the show.
I mean, it's it's it would be comical if it
wasn't so tragic. I feel I also hate rage dropped
him from that league today too, because.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
I just comedy is tragedy. My friend.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I can't. I can't do it anymore. I just can't.
I just can't do it. Just done. I'm done, I'm out.
Matthew Liberator removed due to an injury, so his velocity
was down some issues there, So what's the panic button
here on Matthew Liberatory? He says it's just a fatigue,
which is fair. You know he's throwing a fair amount
(24:35):
of innings this year. You know he's taking the ball
o your fifth day for the big club, you know,
finding consistency. So what do you make out of this
recent injury for Libertor?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I'm like, I'm obviously a little bit worried about it,
especially if he carries over but you know, if he
pooh pooed it, and you know, he's never really like
done this in a major league sense of going this
far and being this successful. I mean him a little
bit of benefit of it out because he's been pretty good.
But I might be a little bit more cautious in
his next start if I'm really hugging Ratios or something.
Maybe I don't don't start him to see if this
(25:03):
is gonna carry over. But I'm, like I said, cautiously
optimistic that he'll be okay.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah, uh all right, let's move on to another depressing
one here. I'm just I'm just the Brandon woodrid thing.
I saw it yesterday and it's just I just you
know that Schmidt meme from New Girl where he just
goes like like that was me. I just I could
not fathom it anymore. Shane Bieber scratched from his minor
league rehab start. Everything I've been going just fine for him.
(25:30):
He seemed to be going okay, renewed soreness in his elbow.
So what's going on is this nobody can do the
surgery anymore? Did doctor James Andrews retire and like nobody
learned how to do it. Everyone's just watching it on
YouTube and doing Tommy John surgeries and no one knows.
I'm not like, oh, we gonna do anymore we'll just
have this rubber band and we're just gonna put this
in your elbow and it's gonna be fine.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
And it's just like a girl she's doing the makeup video.
She's just gonna put on lipstick.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
She's like, hey, guys, welcome, I'm gonna do this. Amazing
Tommy John surgery today. If you're looking to remake your
pitching career, highly recommend Tommy John surgery tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Fabulous blush bieber. His arm is coming open.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
But seriously, I mean, here we go again. I mean fair.
Maybe this is just soreness and we're just being careful,
but it's hard not to get immediately ominous about all
of us this year one.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Hundred percent thinks so like there's a He left Arizona,
he goes in for this. He had his first start.
He was pretty phenomenal in that first start. He gets
out of Arizona and bam, things are a problem. I
don't know, maybe there's a weather thing, no hot here
go to Akron. I don't know, but yeah, I'm I'm
as warned as you are.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Here we are, Jane, We're an Akron.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Don't you don't you ever get like, you know people
get like, I don't know, the joints hurt when it
like rains or something like that, like come out of
the dry Arizona weather. Maybe there's some weathery things I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
I'll tell you what wesh. Next year we have to
really be care Like next year we're gonna fall into
the same Garrett Cole is gonna be up there and
he's gonna be and like, I don't know SP thirty
and then by you know, the time we get to
draft season, he's gonna be SP twenty five or twenty two,
and we're gonna have to learn the same lesson again.
(27:10):
I feel like last year we're just like, what are
we doing?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
What are we doing stupid? When you said that, I
was like, this is trying to get the sunburned, to
block the sun, block the sun, like you said SP
thirty and I'm thinking, like.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
That's not an spy out.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yeah, that's what I went to.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Have my cigar ready here because I'm caratop I have
When Jack Lighter implodes against the Twins, we're gonna light
up this giant, oversized cigar.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah. Well, I'll tell you if Winnie has a good one,
I'll tell you where you can put it.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
So good sideways, shining up real nice. Josh Naylor day
to day with a hands and his shoulders. Got two things.
We've got three things for each of us. They're called
the best bets of Friday with Joey p and the Welsh.
Let's start with Detroit Tigers. Scooble on the mound for
Detroit today. Love that, So let's go oh with scooball
(28:00):
against the Cubs. I know the Cubs are good lineup.
Schooble's better minus one and a half on the run
line plus one twelve and then Jack cag Leon, how
about over one and a half total bases at plus
money plus one twenty five and give me Juan Soto
is heating up to drive it around at minus one
ten against the who Colorado Rockies. Not to mention the
fact that Juan Soto has four at bats against SENSATELA.
(28:24):
Two of those hits. He's got those four at bats
or home runs. So let's go. It's time, Welsh. Where
are you going for your best best for Friday?
Speaker 2 (28:32):
All right, let's go to Cincinnati. We are taking a
first five money line on Cincy today. I'm trying to
pull back up the matchups. Why, oh yeah, because the Diamondbacks.
Edwardo Rodriguez is not good. Watch him in his rehab
stint where he gave up three homers to eighteen year
old Complex League players. His fastball is dead, his changeup
(28:54):
looks incredible. But if he goes to it early, I
think the Reds are going to get to him right
out the shoot. I think they're gonna take an early lead.
Nickoladolo has been pretty great two three one era. He
minimizes the Diamondbacks offense early. Edwardo gives it up early,
first five money line. If they're tied, we push. If
they're up, we win minus one fifteen. Going against the
(29:15):
Diamondbacks with the Reds Oneo Cruz stolen base, we are
going to bet that Oneal Cruz is gonna be able
to get on base versus Joe Ross. And if he
gets on base, you know there's one thing happening. He
is stealing. It's almost three to one Onell Cruz. They
need to be aggressive against the Phillies. They will be
Oneil Cruz stolen base plus two seventy and Manny Machado
(29:36):
we're gonna go over total bases plus one hundred just
get me in the business against the Brewers and Chad
Patrick Manny Machado two total bases today. Those are my plays.
Speaker 1 (29:47):

so Wonkey is at sixteen, still representing the analyst. Sammy
Sosa jersey available Pristineauction dot Com. Autographed by Sammy Sosa himself.
(30:48):
It's good alliteration and whips made a I believe a
prediction and it's true. Soda weekend home run call for Joe.
That's right, that's where we're going, Sodo plus and I
feel like Emperor Palpatine and Star Wars. Oh, I'm afraid
when we come back on.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Monday, I will be right there on the home run board.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Yes, of course, Welsh, I saw you took a Met
this weekend as well.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
I'm gonna go with the polar Bear. You tried to
get me to have him yesterday, which I wish I did,
so we'll just take him through the weekend. Big PD
PDA Alonzo for the home run calls. Yes, and thank you,
Mets going up. I believe this is the Rockies matchup.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Oh, it's the Rockies in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Since it's go today, So perpetuity for me, mister Pete Alonzo.
If I'll ever see the board again, Hey, it should
be the bet. Do we think either one of us
will get on this board before specifically you are gone,
but then there'll be a point where I leave as well. Well.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
I hope to see us both there. That's my goal.
My goal is Monday, we get back to the show
and we're both back on the board. Wonky's there with us,
and we have one day in the sun where all
of us are up there.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
We never had that at the beginning of the year,
right because you were cold to start.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
I was ice cold to star. Where's on this board too?
Is he even calling home runs anymore? Does he even lift.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Bro cycle videos? You can't partake with us.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
And that's what happens. You know, you start doing on air,
you know, camera stuff, you start getting a little bit
full of yourself.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Holding green M and m's, you know, your whole thing stuff. Yeah,
it's the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
You only answer slack messages between two and two fifteen
in the afternoon. It's a whole Thing's the whole thing
is Star. Now, that's what happens. So now what are
you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
You know, so what are you gonna do? I like Wonky.
Wonky can manage to do all of those things and
make home run calls still, So that's why Wonky's the best. Well,
let's take a couple of questions here on the way
out today. Here's one, Uh, this is just funny. Would
you if it comes back first or my dad comes
back from getting milk at the store? I think your
dad comes back first. Yeah, seriously, Chase my draft or
(33:00):
Parker Meadows.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Who would you rather have h if it was a
points league? Probably my draft, but I'm gonna go with
Parker Meadows.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
All right. Here's one. Uh, do tilor Augustin we did?
Is Adley turning things around finally? Of course he goes
off this week on my bench. Well that's that's the
way it goes sometimes. But Rutchman has seemingly turned things
around away. He's such a good player, He's such a talent.
Do you imagine at some point things get right for him?
That whole Orioles team him, everything has just collectively gone
(33:29):
awful to syear for them.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yeah, and I'm looking too. I mean, right off the shoot,
you can see he's about forty points lower babbit than
his career. But like, he's had two horrifically bad months
two oh five and April. He hit one eighty two
in May without any type of breakdown, like, that's just
not adle Ady just makes a bunch of contact and
if you look at his underlying stuff, here's the other
(33:51):
crazy part. Everything looks better year over here. He's barreling
the ball. Then he's more than he's done. He's hitting
the ball harder, more than he's ever done. He's his
walks are up. That launch angle sweet spot, if you
care about that, it's something Mookie does at a high level.
That's up is I mean, everything looks like it's up,
but it ain't. Everything is underperforming right now. So it
looks like there's probably a nice bounce back in store
(34:13):
for Adley, But I would also caution it with like
who's Adley been? Adley might be one of the most
like expectations versus results don't equal a lot because he's
not a twenty five plus home run hitter.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Averages Matt Widers two point zero.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Yeah, yeah, kind kind of. I mean he's better.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
People will forget people for Yeah, the Matt Wieders prospect
lower was like the next Mike Piazza. That's what we're
hearing about. Matt Wieders.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
You're not wrong, I.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Mean, I think you know if you didn't live through it,
you don't understand it, and you're like, I remember that guy.
He was like, you know, on the Nationals for a
cup of coffee at the end of his career. No, No,
Matt Wieters. Once upon a time was supposed to be
like the big catching impact prospect and people bid every
year and it just never really worked out. And I'm
not saying it's the same, but I'm just saying it's
the same organization. So take that with a Greate assault,
(35:07):
you know, Dylan Bundy another you know, it's fun. You
start to go through the Orioles prospect lore. It's had
some hiccups. It's definitely had some hiccups over the years.
Catch a replacement for Shay Langeliers from Lake or Baldwin
or Dylan Dingler. I'm going Baldwin. You want your Dingler,
you want Baldwen.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
I do not want the Dingler. Keep it away from me.
I'm gonna go with the Drake. Baldwin over three hundred powers,
still up, Team Moore playing time.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Sounds like a Diddy party. Hey, Reagan's and adamis for
Swanson and Joe Ryan. I want the Reagan side. I
want It's been awful.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
I want the guy. So then it becomes like who
do you want? You want Joe, Ryan or Reagan's And
I want Reagan's.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
All right, Louis heel is he worth stashing?
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Yeah, He's come back at some point, man, I will
see this too.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
That's what people told me about Brandon Woodruff. Just want
you to know.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
I mean, that's a good that's not it. That's not
a bad point we talked about. I'll talk about the
people obviously deserved to be talked about. Man, it was
great video. Lance Brasdowski, who joined us on Fantasy Fest,
did and it was all big. He just dropped it
yesterday and it was based around the Yankees and what
they're doing pitching development. It's a pretty nerdy, like heady
(36:15):
video if you're not into that stuff, but it talks
about how far ahead this organization is and they're pitching developed,
and how Max Fried has shined, how Ryan Yarborough has
gotten better, how Carlos Redon has dominated, and what they're
doing in the minors and what they're specifically doing with
change ups with guys. And to think that Luis Heel
on the verge of all this is going to be
(36:35):
coming back soon.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
I had.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
It was a really really great video to kind of
get excited long term about just Yankees guys. So with that,
once heel is back, there's such big strike up potential
and what they're doing over the last year or two
gives me, yeah, exactly. Yay Sports is talking about it.
The one seemed changeups that a lot of these guys
are throwing in the success they're finding from it. That's
one thing that helped Ryan Yarborough that I would just
(37:00):
put that over to say that, like, when Luis heel
is back, the Yankees might be at the tippy top
of pitching development right now and our unlocking stuff that
I would feel pretty pretty positive about it. If you
want to find it. Lance Brasdowski just look for his
YouTube channel and it's up. It's like why the Yankees
or you know whatever, great pitching development. It's just the
most recent one.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Yeah, drop your comments below to in the video your
favorite prospect that you kept on drafting that never worked out.
I saw somebody put Brandon Wood.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah, I almost Brandon Wood too.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
That was a good one too.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Dallas McPherson too. That was one of those.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Sure, you know, but that's always fun because you go
through the whole. I believe this guy, this guy, this guy,
and you keep just every years getting roped into it
somehow and it just never works out.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
You know who I was obsessed with and obviously a
little bit diamondback, but I love Connor Jackson. But I
was obsessed with Carlos Quinton. And I was working in
local radio sports radio.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
He had one glorious season too.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
And I was working in a sports radio station and
he was up, and I was heavy baseball, and I
told one of the guys, I'm like, watch this debut
Carlos Quinton home run tonight in his debut, and he did.
And then they had to give me like because I
was just like a you know, tech operator, and they
had to give me like on Eric. I was obsessed
with Carlos Quinn. I just Carlos Quinton was going to
(38:19):
be a thirty plus home run. That was one of
those dudes, Carlos.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I remember I had a team that had Carlos Quinton
and Josh Hamilton on it. It was a keeper kind of situation.
I was like, Oh, this team's gonna be so good
for so long, not so much, not so much, YOA
Mancata from just a hunch in there. That's a good
one too. I like that.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
I like that though. Your favorite prospect that just never worked.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
I want to read these over the weekend. You watch
on the YouTube your favorite prospect that you just kept
chasing that just never happened. I'm curious who that is.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Who do you think it'll be this year too? Who
do you think this year's prospect that's never gonna work?
Is gonna be? Like Joey Dell would have been one
from a couple of years ago. Who's going to be
the big failure from this class?
Speaker 1 (38:58):
Yeah, it could be a lot of them, all right,
everybody that'll do it for us, But the story of
the game goes on for the Welsh. I'm Joey P.
We'll see you next time.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Kids.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
