Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hello everybody, Welcome into the cycle. Part three of the week.
I'm Ryan Warmley joined by Mike Mayer. If you missed
parts one and two, we did some buys and seals
ahead of the trade deadline or waiver Central. As always,
we also talked a lot with George Bissel of Roto World.
We talked about his big dynasty update in mid season rankings.
We talked about some kind of second half of the year,
you know, playoff run strategy guide sort of stuff, and
then our usual news and notes, So be sure to
(00:26):
check out parts one and two of the cycle. This
week we will go quickly here through our pitching streamers.
Who do you have for us?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Mayor well real quick? Can I hop in?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I did want to ask you a question because every
week we talk about pitching streamers and we talk about
offenses that we want to stream against. And one of
the metrics that we kind of use on the fantas
prost pitching streamer tool is wOBA, like team wOBA, not
just like individual batter And for the uninitiated, wOBA is
weighted on base average. It's you know, it's we think
(00:58):
a more accurate tool for you know, quality of hitting,
quality of contact than pure batting average and a good
considered like average. WILBA is three twenty, so a little
bit higher of a bar than batting average. And there
are six teams with the WIBB but below three hundred.
As a team below three hundred, can you name them?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I'm sure I can't, but I could try Pirates number one.
Now I'm not trying to go in order, by the way,
but that the Pirates number one.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Yeah, Nationals, nationals No, Nationals number ten, three oh seven WOLBA.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
So not a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
But the other quote point I was gonna make, the
average is considered three twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
There are nineteen teams of the wib below twenty three twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
The Marlins uh no eleven. Oh, Kyle Stowers is probably
single handedly bumping them up. Hmmm, well, okay, so when
you first started bringing this up, I was going to
I was like, is this a bit to get me
to put out that the Orioles are on this list?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
They are not. They're number nine. You you you have
hit nine, ten eleven, though.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
That is wild. I told you I wasn't gonna be
good at this. The Angels.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Fourteen.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Okay, I'm getting worse at this I'm not good at
these trivia games.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Normally you're like, I'm I'm so bad at this, and then.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
You yeah, is there is there like an obvious team
that I'm just overlooking Number two? Yeah? Okay, I was
just about to the White Sox. Yeah, duh, Rockies?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well six, yep, okay, so just missed it. Yeah, no,
that's six. There are six below three hundreds.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Oh oh you said six? Oh okay, cool? Yeah, so
White Sox and Rockies. This should have been my second
or third guests.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Is honestly I need three, four and five.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Hmmm. Uh. Every time I want to guess somebody, I'm like, well,
they like that one hitter might be dragging them up. Um,
I'm not gonna make everybody listen to this too much longer.
I'll throw out one more guess. I'll guess the I'm
actually struggling with who the next guy should be.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Oh, well, like the twelve all three are American League teams.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Okay, I was gonna guess. I was thinking the central
is probably a good place to look. Is like Royals.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Royals are number five?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Are the Twins on there?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Twins? Or no, they're fifteen? But there is another central
team there.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Okay, they're usually better offensively, but they're having a very
down offensive year.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Well I was gonna say it. It's not gonna be
the Tigers, so it's gotta be the Guardians.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Guardians. Yeah, and then the last one is the Rangers
Texas Rangers.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So I almost said the Rangers. I wasn't sure if
they had enough hot streaks in there, but I should
have gone with my gut and said that. I mean,
I wasn't gonna say them like third. I don't want
to take credit for it, but I was thinking about them.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, we can move on.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
But yeah, Pirates, White Sox, Guardians, Rangers, Royals, and Rockies
all as a.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Team woe but below three hundred, which is bad.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Now the stream quickly through your streamers because I gotta go.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Okay, So at the end of the last show, I
mentioned this picture uh slate shoot Cone. I pronounced it wrong.
I think I said chickony on the UH on the
last episode, but it's shook Cony. So he's my pitching
streamer pick for Monday, and he is pitching against the Rockies,
one of those teams with a WEBBA below three hundred. Wednesday,
(04:17):
we have Jose Soriano versus the Rangers again one of
those bad WOBBA teams or Brian Bao at the Twins,
a team you thought was a bad WEBBA team.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
They were right. Where did you say the Winds were?
They were?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
They were fifteen?
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Oh? I thought you said they were they were one
of the top six. I thought did I must have
missed the Rockies.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
You're here, you're thinking of.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Wait, wait, so this I'm sorry? The six were Rockies, Nationals, Pirates, Royals.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
No, what you guessed the Nationals? There were number ten?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Oh that was one of those sent I threw out
too many names.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
I'm like Pirates, Guardians, Rangers, Royals.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Rockies, The Guardians was the other a sage? Okay, I apologize, Yeah, sorry, okay.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
So Wednesday, Jose Sorano is also wildly under roster. He's
been pitching really well lately. I'm not really sure why,
but he gets the Rangers, and he's available in like
more than sixty percent of leagues, and so he's a
decent streamer for that day Thursday, there's a very small slate,
so small that I actually missed it while scrolling through
the tool, and I had to fix the last three
(05:21):
days because I was on the wrong day for each
day because Thursday there were only two pitchers who qualified
based on the criteria that I use, and it's Kumar
Rocker and Marcus Stroman. Rocker is at the Mariners, Marcus
Stroman is against the Rays. I'm not particularly interested in
streaming either one of those, so I think Thursday is
just a really small slate stay away day. Friday, a
(05:44):
day we have had issues with in the past, actually
has a couple of good ones. Kate Horton gets the Orioles.
I really like Kate Horton, and I think he's, you know,
I'm excited about him as like a pitching prospect, not
necessarily like this year specifically, but he's someone I've picked
up in a couple areas who I think, you know,
he has not the best matchup, but a good matchup
against Oils, especially if the Oriols, you know, maybe they
(06:07):
trade Ryan or Hern before that start, that would be excellent.
And then the other one is a picture bottom of
the barrel. But I mentioned him most of the most
of the year because of streaming purposes. Tyler Anderson gets
the White Sox. He's a low ceiling, low floor pitcher.
But if you just need like the innings, you know,
solid floor with a good matchup. So I wouldn't be
opposed to streaming Tylernston against the.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
White Sox Saturday. I have your boy Max Scherzer, who
you love against the Royals.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I'm just kidding. I know, I'm the one who keeps
bringing him up. It can be difficult to stream someone
like Max Scherzer because he might just get hinjured and
like not finished a start and you wasted a stream.
But and then the other one I had, I felt
obliged to, you know, if if you it's Louise Heel
at them at the Marlins. So I'm actually not going
(06:57):
to stream Louis Heal because especially if this is first
start back, just because I don't love, you know, streaming
pitchers on their first start back, although it is a
good picture against a good matchup. But if you know,
if you want to hear more on Louis Heal, go
back and listen to the first episode for this week
because we talk about a pretty wild Dynasty trade that
we made.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
And the other one for Saturday.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Saturday is a loaded day is Jose Kintana at the
Nationals and then Slade, Chaconi, Shakoni who gets the twins
and so pretty good matchups for Chakoni if you want
to stream he gets the twins and who was the
other team? I didn't write down the Rockies, So Rockies
twins not bad matchups if you're streaming pitchers. So Chaconi
(07:39):
is probably the streamer of the week.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Let's go speaking of two starts to our two start
pitcher competition, we are currently tied in the standings six
six plus. There was one tie result and that does
include the home run derby results, so that's where we
stand right now. We are still waiting for the results
of this current week. Obviously, we didn't have a previous
week to talk about because that was the week of
the All Star Break four. Our picks for this week there.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Were a lot of sorry real quick. So I had
Nathan Valdi this past week. He got scratched, and so
I don't think he's actually making two starts anymore.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
So do I get a loss for you in the past.
That's unless it happens to both of us that's been
a loss in the past.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Okay, you can count one weird week, you.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Know, well, well you can get his one start. If
his one start out scores the two starts from from
Nick Poveda, I will give you the win.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
But okay, yeah, he has not pitched since the All
Star break, so if.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
He starts none, then I definitely win.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
And he's supposed to start tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Okay, So he got pushed, not scratched.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
However you want it, tomatoes, potatoes, wherever you want to
call it.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
But I mean, he's still pitching this week. It's not
like he's not.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
He was scratched earlier in the week and then they
pushed him back later delayed.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
If you did, okay, yeah, so you will. You will
get that one start. Then this is how I think
we should do love. There were a lot of good
names this week, most of them I had already picked,
so I couldn't take them. You took, I think, the
clear choice who I would have taken if I hadn't
used him a couple of weeks ago. So I fell
back on a guy that I talked about actually in
(09:08):
both parts one and part two of the cycle. This week,
Dylan Ceese kind of just betting on there's going to
be a step forward coming, just basically underlying data with him.
A lot of the expected numbers are a lot stronger
than the real numbers, and you're going to get strikeouts.
He faces the Mets and the Cardinals. So not the
worst slate, you know, not as maybe compelling as your
slate is for your guy. But I'm going with Dylan
(09:30):
Ceese because, like I said, I had picked a lot
of the best options here already you took, like I said,
the guy would have gone number one.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah, I went with Christopher Sanchez coming off a gem
against the Red Sox. And you know, we talked about
that article like way back in the beginning of the
year where they said Christopher Santez was like the fifth
best picture in baseball or something, and we thought that
was wild.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
But over the last two months he has.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Been one of the better pictures in baseball. So he
gets he is at the White Sox and then versus
the Cardinals. So I went with Christopher Sanchez this week
and hopefully he's still running hot.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
We'll go ahead and wrap things up there. Thanks everybody
for tuning in, not just to this episode, but to
all the parts of the cycle this week. We had
a lot of fun stuff this week in these episodes,
so everybody check it out. We'll be back next week
a day later. So I'm not just actually sure when
everything's gonna be coming out over the course of the weekend,
but we want to give time for the trade deadline
to react to everything that happens on that day, so
(10:21):
we're gonna tape a day later, really the whole group
of episodes and see what comes out of it. So yeah,
be on lookout for that next week as well. For Mayor,
I'm Ryan Warmley. Thanks for tuning in. We'll see again
next time. Thanks for listening to the Fantasy Pros Fantasy
