Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Bros. MLB.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's time to look ahead to the waiver wire this
week and find some names, some hitters, some pitchers who
can help our fantasy teams. There's actually a bunch that
are available. Last week it was a little shaky for
the waiver wire.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Not this week. I think there's some youth that could
certainly give some.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Injections into our lineups in a positive way, starting with
Brady House, third baseman of the Washington Nationals. Brady House
got the call over the weekend. I did a short
video about him Welsh and if you look at what
he was doing over in the triple A, it was
pretty stunning. A three seventy five four to twenty six
twenty five slash. There might be some strikeouts in there. Okay,
well can handle that. But the Washington Nationals continue to
(00:41):
evaluate their young talent and Brady House is a piece
right now that is available in seventy percent of leagues
on CBS. So if you're looking for some help at
the corner spot and maybe House can be that guy.
What do you think he's going to look like here
at the big league level for the Nats.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, there's still a little bit to be seen, just
simply because the sample size and what he's done on
the field is relatively short. But he's already got a
couple of hits. He's walked in both games. We haven't
seen the big strikeout problems. I think both of those
things are encouraging. He's not really registering anything else as
far as, like you know, hard hit or barrels because
we can't really pull off of that. But he's hit
(01:14):
breaking pitches. He's pulled the ball a little bit. He
gets to play third base some places. He's probably a shortstop,
so he's going to get dual eligibility, which is pretty nice.
But I love the power speed combination in him. I
guess there's always kind of a question about some of
these prospects that come out, you know, like Lawler. I
treat it Lawler esque. I think he has the better
potential to stay up than Lawler did. But it's the
(01:36):
same thing. You don't want to cut anything that's like
super super useful, but you want to try to make
those bets because that offense is can be sneaky. The
problem with the Nationals is like where they show you CJ.
A Brooms and James Wood and Brady House. Then they're
just like by the way, you know, here's like Jose Tana.
You know, just they got these just like ify players
that are surrounded. But I think that also creates a
(01:57):
situation why House can stick around for a little bit.
So fifteen team, I'm definitely interested. Twelve team, I'm actually
still probably interested even as a bench bat I'm looking
to pick up Brady House.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Michael Tolia returned to the Colorado Rockies and announced his
presence with authority two homers yesterday. He is rostered in
just seventeen percent of leagues. Tolio, we had some expectations
for waited for the Rockies. We thought, at least he
can give us some power. We knew the batting average
is gonna stink. So look, I don't want to put
too much in the two homer performance. I want to say, Okay,
let's try to reinvest in the kid the second time
(02:28):
around here this year in twenty twenty five, because.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Once again first base has been kind of struggle.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Bus and so House, Tolia, if you're looking for some
guys who might be able to help, maybe they can
help you at those corner infield spots.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
In many of those deeper leagues.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
So so far, it's hard not to be impressed with
Tolia's return for the Rockies.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Well, it's really also about like the profile in general
that you were betting on.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
That's what I bet on.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Like I've been, I've taken a big l because in
the preseason I was massively in Ontolia, where you know,
the previous season he hit only two eighteen, but he
had this expected batting average around two forty with incredible
hard hitting barrel numbers in Colorado, and it was like, well, listen,
expected numbers are telling us he could be a two
thirty two to forty hitter. If he is that, he's
going to be valuable. He was not that though. His
(03:12):
strikeouts became a much bigger problem and that's why he
was sent down. But he is back now with eight homers,
his average is back over two hundred. I guess you
could feel positive about that. The things I feel comfortable
about him being back though he's had RBIs in both
of the games, a return hits in both of those games.
He has struck out in each of those, but it's
only been one strikeout, so it's two strikeouts over his
(03:33):
last nine. If he can cut those strikeouts to thirty
or under, he can hit around two forty totally is
going to be a massive, massive power output. That's what
I was always betting on. I've kind of held on.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
To it a little bit.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Let's see if it pays off in the long term,
and that's why I'm picking him up, especially if you're
chasing power. If you're in like a points league and
you get negative for strikeouts, he's a little bit of
a problem. He might be a batting average albatross. But
let's see if this thing has reclicked, because obviously Colorado
is just an incredible hitting environment and if you can
just start bareling the ball again, total he has got
forty home run power.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Christian Moore is up with the Angels, and he slashed
three point fifty four twenty four five seventy five with
four homers and three steals in twenty games for Salt
Lake when he got his promotion. Now he gets another
promotion to the Angels. Looks to be the everyday second
basement there. So far, the availability is still very good
again only rostered and roughly thirty percent of leagues currently
so Welsh, what are expectations for Christian Moore. I know
(04:24):
sometimes the Angels are too aggressive with some of their prospects.
They're being too aggressive here and is more really worth
more than let's say, an ale only kind of pick up.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
This is in the same general like Brady House ish range.
I might tell you he might be a tiny bit
under Brady House. I'm a I'm a little bit more
worried maybe about his plate discipline. And Christian Moore, again,
this is another small sample sized guy. He's got like
five games in. He's got a thirty three percent k percentage,
which is already showing up. He's only doing stuff against fastballs.
(04:53):
He's not hitting breaking an off speed. And once he
gets really really challenged with that, if and it continues on,
is he ever going to be able to? But I
think he's got louder tools than Brady House. I think
there's that type of power, there's aggressive base stealing, like,
I think he can do all of that stuff. But
I'm just not so sure that it's going to click
right away. It hasn't really been so. Same Vein, Same
(05:15):
Vein is a Brady House, but I probably prioritize him
one notch.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Above a very quiet sixteen game hitting streak for brooks
Lee of the Minnesota Twins raises average from two thirty
to two sixty seven on the year and over fifty
six games, seven homers twenty five RBI, starting to put
together a pretty solid season. Actually, he qualifies at multiple
positions depending on the rules in your league. So infielder
at the very least, at the very most, you're looking
(05:38):
at a guy maybe second, maybe third, end short, all
of the above potentially for brooks Lee, again depending on
your rules. But this is another one that as you
start to look for depth on your bench. I think
Lee is an interesting ad and if the Twins do
sell off some pieces, it can only mean more playing
time for him as the season drags on. He is
rostered in just about twenty five percent of league's currently.
What do you think of Lee as like a bench
(05:59):
depth kind of guy, especial in those daily transaction leagues.
If you have that sort of position flexibility.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
There actually might be a case that like brooks Lee
should be a guy over both of the rookies that
we've talked about, just because some of that agree. So yeah,
I mean, like if you go to like Savant, like
the profile doesn't look it's blue, it doesn't look impressive,
but it has been the as recent stuff that's really clicked.
He's hitting three sixty seven this month. He's not striking out.
(06:24):
He's starting to raise that hard hit and barrel to
a range that we're kind of super interested in. Gets
the ball in the air, and two things that I love.
An over twenty percent poll aired percentage, which is on
the higher percentiles of the league. And he has an
eighty nine percent zone contact rate, So he's making a
ton of contact in the zone. He's getting it in
the air. Not only is it getting in the air
with that high launch angle, he's pulling the ball. Those
(06:45):
things all might start to turn really positively in his favor.
So I think the playing time is going to be there.
I think this is a hot bat and I would
probably prioritize him over those rookies.
Speaker 2 (06:56):

Go Hall of Fame, go all in, win all your leagues.
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Let's start with Emmett Sheehan roster in twenty four percent
of leagues coming back for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
The Dodgers are in the midst of playing ten games
in ten.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Days right now, so she's going to get a look
or two I think in this rotation. When last we
left him prior to surgery, this was a guy striking
out everybody in the minor leagues. But obviously we've had
the Tommy John we've had the return hasn't gone well
for a lot of guys obviously this year, so maybe
we take it with a great assault. I don't know
what the long term situation is for Emma she in
this rotation, but at least I think in the next
(08:09):
two to three weeks it's worth picking him up just
to see what he does and how he performs.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
What do you think, Welsh?
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Yeah, I think so the long term is a question,
but it's also you know, he's stepping over you know,
the pitching carcasses of like Rokie Sisaki and Tyler glass
Now and Blake Snell and Tony Gonsolin, those would all
be reasons why you go like nah, like Shea Han's
not going to work. But they're all not pitching, and
we all don't really have a timeline on when we're
(08:36):
going to see any of those guys. So they're currently
left with Otani doing opener stuff and probably pairing with Casparius,
and we've got Clayton Kershaw. It just leaves that opportunity
for us that Sheehan has definitely got higher strikeout potential,
you know, I mean, God, he hasn't registered any stat
Castatus since twenty twenty three, but back then it was
in almost twenty six percent K percentage, So I think
(08:58):
the offense kind of speaks to it. This is why
we bank on guys like Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin,
and you know, in any other team we might even
notch them down a tiny bit. But that's why I
think Emma she Hen is interesting. He definitely should be
picked up if he's going to be getting these starts.
The strikeout potential is exciting enough.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
As Walker Bueher continues to implode. I think Hunter Dobbins
is getting safer and safer in that Red Sox rotation.
Fifty five innings for him, He's four and one on
the year, forty two strikeouts, eleven walks, rostered in under
twenty percent of league. Still, I think that's kind of stunning,
to be honest. I know Richard fitz is still working
his way back, Kyle Harrison could work his way into
this mix too, So the Red Sox have options here,
(09:35):
and Dobbins, I think is one of these guys that
might be worth at least a speculation.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
What do you think, Yeah, they've got to do something
with the rotation. I think it's the low walks because
he's not a high strikeout guy. But sometimes you just
got a bank with your teams that like, if I
can get a low variance guy, a guy that's not
going to walk a whole bunch, she can have a
decent ERA that maybe has some ren support, Like, then
we can just start stepping into some quality starts and
(09:59):
some wins, and that's something to be excited about. I
think with Dobbins, he's a three seven to four ERA
expected is still under four under five percent walk rate
I mean launch, you know, like launch angle pull rate
against isn't super crazy for hitters. I think Dobbins has
got to get an opportunity. Unless the Red Sox go
and make some big moves to get some pitchers, he
would be somebody I would speculate on him over probably overfits,
(10:22):
to be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Another streaming pitcher, Slay Jacconi of the Cleveland Guardians, rostered
in about twenty percent of leagues currently on CBS. Last
two starts, you know, ten innings, eleven strikeouts, five walks,
got a one two nine ERA. Like the Guardians have
been kind of a mid team at best most of
this year, but Chraconi recently has pitched better.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
He's twenty five years old.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Do you think Slade is worth an addition this week?
Because I again, when you keep looking at the landscape,
all these arms to keep biting the dust time after
time here and he needs some live bodies. Maybe Slay
Chaconi could be another one of these guys that can
at least be a short term band aid.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I think the short term band aid is like him
being a streamer. I think that might be what my
biggest interest is. I will say, I mean going five.
He's gone five in five of his six starts this season,
which is encouraging. He struck out six or more in
four of those six starts, but you know he can
get a little walk heavy. He's only had one implosion
in those I think this reads off like a solid
(11:20):
ish spot starter for era. I will say his expected
is over five and a half and the hard hit.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Is pretty scary.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
So that's why, like you know, big power offenses, I
might try to avoid on some of those starts, but
I think he's in spot starter range.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Last, but not at least, Joe Boyle of the Tampa
Bay Rays worth a stash. We think at least he's
rostered in under twenty percent of leagues currently right now,
but he's been terrific at TRIPAA forty six innings, a
one point one seven ERA, a point eighty three whip,
fifty four strikeouts in those forty six innings, just sixteen walks.
We thought maybe in Seymour, you know, might be a
guy there that would get a crack of this rotation.
(11:57):
And he got called up, went to the bullpen, and
then got back down. But maybe Joe Boyle could be
that next guy for Tampa. As the Rays look like
they are in this thing now, maybe Boyle becomes a
trade chip too, in which case he would also potentially
go into a rotation to a lesser team like a
White Sox or whoever else you know there might be
a deal for.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
But talk about Joe Boyle.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
I know he was in the prospecting segment earlier in
the week as well, But I think this might be
an interesting time to stash this guy.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Yeah, I think this is in that range one five
to three ERA so far. His last outing, he went five,
he struck out nine, He walked to in that start.
He's lowered his walk rate, which is like really key
for him. He's got a really well graded like slider splitter.
If you're looking at some of the models, you know,
like TJ Stats out there puts one, it's graded very high.
(12:46):
Fastball is definitely solid. I mean this is just a
big power pitcher with some breaking stuff that looks like,
you know, like how they stretched him out like Ian
Seymour has been strictly moved to the bullpen. I just
think they're going to give Joe Boyle an opportunity. He
could go to the He could go the way of
En Seymour as well, but just with some of that
stuff and that strikeout potential. He is somebody that ownership percentage.
(13:08):
If he is called up, the smart people are gonna
pick him up really quick to see if he sticks.
Maybe you can get ahead of it. But yeah, Joe
Boyle is someone that I'll keep my eye on very
very close if they're gonna make that call up and
he gets to go into the rotation.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
All right, everybody, those are the names on the waiver
wire we're looking at this week.
