Ett omtalat exempel på att återskapa avlidna finns i den sydkoreanska dokumentären Meeting you från 2020, där en död flicka återskapas digitalt så att hennes mamma ska få träffa henne en sista gång. Mamman får på sig ett par VR-glasögon och flickan kommer springande mot henne och ropar: Mamma, var har du varit?
Idag lever vi med minnen av våra döda genom foton, brev, ärvda möbler och besök vid deras gravar. Kommer den nya tekniken innebära en stor förändring för vårt sätt att relatera till de döda och till döden? Blir AI-kopian ett slags liv?
Det finns en växande industri som utvecklar chatbottar och avatarer av döda personer. Kan framtiden innebära en värld som domineras av de döda? Vilka moraliska frågor väcker den nya tekniken?
