Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good afternoon, Hello everyone, and welcome back for an hour
of focus Fox Valley as we broadcast from Krueger's True
Value here in Nina nine ninety nine Winneconie Avenue. Come
on out, say hello. We are so thrilled to be here.
We also want to shout out our sponsors for the hour,

(00:44):
Hooper Law Office. Visit them at Hooperlawoffice dot com. My goodness,
we are having such a fun day. And listeners, boy,
do I've got a treat for you. We gave away.
We had five mugs today, my listeners, we had five
mugs to give away this morning. Yes, and that's Jim Webb,
by the way, legendary Jim Webb joining us here on location. Jim,

(01:06):
great to see you.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Great to see you. Take Haley as.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Always, thank you for inviting us back.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
For those of you that don't know, Hailey's smile is
as genuine as her voice. She is an absolute delight.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
That means a lot. My friend, waiting for the punchline.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Okay, don't worry about that.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
But listeners, listen, we have these mugs, these Whby mugs. Yes,
and they are coveted. They are if we had one
hundred here, I think we'd give away one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
We have five.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
We have five in the first hour. I have one
in my car and I message brand manager BJ, and
I said, BJ, the mugs are gone. They were gone
by eleven forty five. I said, I'm heartbroken for our
noon hour. Can we give away some more mugs? And
he said maybe, and then he gave me five months.
So we've got five additional mugs to give away to

(01:58):
the first five people who come up to the broadcast booth.
Here and saint mug, and it's yours.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
This is a ceramic mug. It's got a little insulated cover.
I took one on the golf course this morning and
it did not spill all over my phone like the
last one that I did, So it's absolutely it is
a treasure.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
And it's very attractive, well in its quality because the
cork bottom, it's not gonna make a bunch of noise
at your table.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Nothing beats a cork bottle.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
So we can we can. We can sell these, probably poorly,
but we'll give them away.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
You know, my dad used to smoke a pipe back
when he was here.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Got a mug.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Oh, here's a mug.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Now we're down to four we got two.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Oh, now we're down to three.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Are down to three.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I'm gonna hide one underneath the chair. Now, I don't
I don't dare do that.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I don't dare do that.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
But just our appreciation, of course, to our listeners, and
a celebration of our one hundred years, which, by the way,
Jim your your store here knows a little thing or
two about three digit birthdays. Yes, ma'am, tell us a
little bit about the history. Let's remind our listeners about
Kruger's true value.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
How much time do you have?

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, we've gotten until the top of the hour.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Okay, Well, let's see.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
It was back in eighteen hundred and sixty six before
Nina was even a city at that time. I think
we were Wisconsin Rapids that Kruger Hardware was founded, So
that means we've been around for one hundred and fifty
nine years. My last name is Webb, the store's name
is Krueger. Now William Kruger, who came over from Mecklenburg,

(03:21):
Germany in eighteen twenty founded the store that was William Kruger.
William Kruger had three or had three children that are
going to work into this. He had he had. Oh
my gosh, here we go. If my brother's listening, he's
going to come and bounce one of these mugs off
my head. No, don't know, Please don't call Brian. Anyway,

(03:43):
his son m W. Krueger, and he had also a daughter,
which was.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Ida Krueger. MW. Krueger was a second generation. When MW.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Passed away, he was a bachelor. So what he did
is the estate went.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
To Ida Krueger. Aida Krueger married M. W. Barnett.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Some of you, if you're old enough, you can remember
Barnet's pharmacy where I used to go down and bug
my dad for a dime so.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I could have a cherry phosphate.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
They were delicious, and I think he was delicious too.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
But you could put one in this spot.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
No, yeah, you could, Oh my gosh. But anyway, MW.
So it went to.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
The grandchildren of Ida Kruger Barnett. There were four three girls.
One was Ida, one was Laura, the other one was Margaret.
And there was a son which was Maurics Kruger. Maurris
Krueger was killed in the First World War about three
hours before the armistice. He was in the marine corps.

(04:51):
So now there are just three daughters. The youngest daughter Laura,
who is my grandmother, who.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Was just a delightful person. And she made the best
molasses cook yes you could think of. We would go
over to her house, she'd bake cookies.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
She'd give them to me.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I drive home, I drive around.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Eat them all and come home and say, no, she
didn't have any cookies this time, but no, they were
just absolutely delightful.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Anyway, she married a.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Young man by the name of James Webb. That was
my grandfather. He was working as an intern for or
at the Equitable Reserve and was a good friend of
doctor that.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Is Delano Smith. Wow, he was a great doctor.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
I would go into the doctor's office he had a closet.
In the closet he had all these marvelous little wind
up toys, and so I would take them out and
play with him and he'd do my examination what have you.
I was fascinated by the little wind up toys. I'm
still fascinated by wind up toys. But it's one thing
led to another. He was double dating with Margaret. Margaret

(05:55):
had her little sister, Laura, was driving her crazy. So
Jim Webb came along too kind to take care of Margaret.
They ended up getting married. Okay, so they move off
to sconnecting to New York. He's working for an insurance company.
She wanted to move home. My grandfather said, we can't
go back. I don't have a job there. She called
MWMW gave him a job. So and my grandfather loved

(06:19):
my grandmother. Everybody loved my grandmother, so back they moved.
This was back in nineteen sixteen. They got married, MW died,
the company went to Jim Webb. The first my father
was Jim Webb. The second, I am Jim Webb. The

(06:39):
third Max is standing right over there, looking resilient and
handsome as ever. He is the That would be sixth generation.
And this weekend my grandson will be here, Hayden Nolty,
that would be the seventh generation. We are I think
the oldest or one of the oldest continuous family owned

(07:02):
business in the state of Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
It's incredible. That's a history.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, my grandfather always wanted that we are older than series,
which shows a remarkable lack of progress. But no, we're
very happy to be here, just absolutely.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Delighted, you know, in all of our years together, I
still come back and I learn a little bit something new.
So I appreciate that. Listeners, I hope you enjoyed that
walk down memory lane as well. There we go, But
goodness gracious, you mentioned that memory of your grandmother, and
it's Mother's Day weekend, and I think we are all
thinking of those memories. Oh my gosh, Yes, of our grandmothers,
of our mothers, if we're lucky enough to be mothers ourselves.

(07:39):
You know, there's such a special, special relationship for so
many of us out there. Also, I want to note
that I'm thinking of folks who might have a tough
time with Mother's Day this weekend too. I know there
are so many people who might struggle with Mother's Day
as well. So I'm thinking of you. But I want
to ask about what you do here for Mother's Day
that makes it a little bit of a bright weekend.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
What I do specifically for we have the Greenhouse open.
We are going to make sure that every mother is
entitled to a brought that they're so it's brought mother
Weekend and we have we're actually grilling chess, gone grilling
or grilling up brats. We're giving those away by the
way for as long as they last, and I had
one of them. They're just amazing. Maybe we could have

(08:22):
brought in the mug.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
No, I don't think so. I don't think so. But gosh.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
We also have the decor over there, the garden flags,
the garden statues, the garden spinners. We call it the
garden fufu. But we have our fo Foo department over there,
and every day is Mother's Day down here.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
We love it absolutely.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
I send a picture to my husband. Yes, one of
these flat top attachments for the Weber grill.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yes, Weber.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
The big thing right now are griddles. Now, Weber just
bought the Blackstone Company, by the way, Yes, so now
they're owned by Weber has their own grip. But a
lot of our customers have either the Spirit or the
Genesis grill we have, or Weber has an insert. You
take the burgers or the grates off, you put it
in and you have an instant.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Griddle.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
The nice thing about their griddles their rustproof. Some of
the other griddles they will rust. These are ready to go.
You don't have to seize them. They will not rust.
This is made specifically. The inserts are made for the grills.
I put one on and it is just absolutely incredible.
We're out in the garage. We're doing the eggs, we're

(09:35):
doing the bacon, we're doing the hat browns, we're doing
the smash burgers, We're doing just about everything. The Weber
Genesis is probably the most versatile grill that's out there.
Absolutely amazing.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
It's exciting, and you can come on down to Krueger's, Yes,
and they'll tell you all about it. We'll show you
how to work it. You can get any accessory you
might need. Absolutely, it's fun for all.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
We'll put it together and even deliver it to you.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
You will, Yes, Hello Brian, Hello, another generation of webs here.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
His same generation as mine. Yeah, but I'm I'm older.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
In another branch.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I can say I'm older, smarter and better looking. But
we'll get Brian on the here any minute now, he'll
come on, and he'll come on later.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Oh well, we'll pause here, then we'll we'll rearrange the
family tree and we'll get back to our broadcast live
here Kruger's True Value Avenue. You heard it here, we'll
see you. They're also got three months, so come on up,
same mug and it's yours.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
I've had a band three months left, three dog night.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Back in a bit, okay, and we're back. Good afternoon,
every one. A beautiful day. Come on out, walk through
the greenhouses here at Kruger's True Value in Nina nine
nine Winneconie Avenue. It's a stunner of a day. The
chefs they've gone grilling and they are offering you a

(10:59):
lunch free of charge. So come on out, Come on out,
grab some lunch, Grab some hanging baskets or some perennials.
They've got it all here at Kruger's. And we've got
two mugs left just too.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Some guy came in here, grabbed it, started running. Brian
ran after him, tackled him, but he wasn't fast enough.
He made it out the door. You know that guy
mentioned Lebanon Bologny. Yes, I think I went to high school.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
With him, with Luke Jacobs.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
No, with Lebanon Bologna.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Oh Jim, okay, that's a good one. It's not bad,
not bad. And you know what, who's been dealing with
that his whole life? Brian here, who joins us? Brian
Webb in with us here today and hi, Brian how
are you fantastic?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Thanks, good to see you. Great to be here. I'm
so glad to have the w Hby team here with
us as fun you.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
You are in charge of a fun department.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Well, I'm all kind of all over.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
But that one you are all over. But we usually
talk paint, oh often, Yeah, any trending colors this year,
I've got to ask.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Lots of them. Fine, you know what, I think we're
finally emerging from gray. I mean, if I have to
mix another light gray paint, no, really.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Great, that's my generations.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
It's popular that everything that we're finally starting to see
some some a little more creativity. And so we're delighted
about that.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Oh good, So we're at.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
That, We're at the forty ninth shade of gray out
of they's okay, that's right, okay, Yeah, there's always more
to go. Let's not talk off whites now to no.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
No, we like our neutrals, we do. We like our neutrals.
Hey what we got on sale this weekend? You've got
in front of you and you prot one over to
some wonderful advertisements and shout out to Nina News. I
saw the Nina News here. Yes, they're great partners of
w Hby.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
They're a wonderful paper.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
You've got some specials this week. What what are you
hoping folks can walk away with for a heck of
ad all?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Oh my gosh, I don't know where to start. You know,
if you're interested in working in the garden, we have
our uh, we have our shovels, hose, transfer shovels and
rakes normally twenty four ninety nine on sale twenty percent
off up to and those are sixteen ninety nine. The
wheed and feed Scott's, and now is the time to

(13:13):
put that on. That is a five dollars instant rebate
on the four thousand square foot bag normally thirty four
ninety nine, now twenty nine ninety nine. The larger one
is on sale for seventy four. That's with a ten
dollars instant rebate. These rebates are instant. You don't have
to mail anything, you don't have to do anything.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
It's taken off right at the register. And the other thing, Jim,
that weather is like perfect, it is perfect. This it's
not too hot. You don't want to put this product
on if it's above ninety and you don't want to
put it on if there's a rain in the forecast,
and so I think we have an excellent window, a
good stretch cat, really great window.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Now, one of the things about the herbicides that are here,
this will kill ever wonder how whedon feed works. I mean,
you put it on your lawn and the grass dye
or no, the grass doesn't die, the weeds die. There
are two families of plants, once called a monoch condleedant,
the other is a die codallegant or grassy type, and
broad leafs. The herbicide that's in here kills all the
broad leaves. It leaves the monocots or the grassy types alone. Now,

(14:10):
if you're going to kill a die coddle edant or
a broad leaf, which would be a thistle, dandelion, creeping charlie, oak, trees, cabbage,
anything with a broad leaf, you have to do it
through the leaf's surface because as the plant respirates, which breathe,
it goes has a very simple simple circulatory system xylum
up flow them down.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
That's what is actually called. So what you do is
you have to have this product stick to the leaf.
That's why you should put it on when it's damp now.
Plants for all intents and purposes, are cold blooded, so
they don't metabolize that quickly. So or actually, they do
metabolize quickly, and as it gets warmer, they metabolize faster.
The circulatory system to take the herbicide from the leaf

(14:51):
system down to the root that's the floam and the
xylum back up again probably takes about oh hour, hour
and a half or something like that. Once that's done,
the we is dead.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Heat.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
You might see it for a while and all of
a sudden you say, oh my god, it's gotten bigger. Well,
what it does is it grows them to death. So
what you want to do is you want to put
them on early in the day. Brian's absolutely right. Put
him on early in the day when the grass is damp.
The particles will stick, it'll be absorbed, and when it
starts to cool down in the evening, it'll settle down,

(15:25):
the fertilizer takes over. It's downright magic. Wow.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
And how much coverage will one of those big bags provide.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Well, one of the big bags, the twelve thousand square
foot bag, will cover twelve thousand square feet. Now, how
big is twelve thousand square feet it takes if you
mow your lawn half an hour equates to about forty
five hundred to five thousand square feet. So people come
in and rather than ask how large their lawn is

(15:54):
because they may not know and embarrass them, but they
do know how long it takes to cut their grass.
So just take however long you cut your grass for
every half hour you need one of those smaller bags.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
That's fascinating. Do you ever have to double down? Now?
How long does it really take you to mold a lawn?
Because I know a couple of husbands might say it
takes me three hours, when in reality it might just
take an hour and a half.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
I'm not even sure how to Brian, Yeah, Brian, can
you It depends how many breaks you take?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Okay, okay, absolutely, all right. That's a good little helper there.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
So the good real question is is how many beers
does it take to mow your law?

Speaker 1 (16:30):
That could be a Wisconsin way to answer that.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
How many you know, how many ounces per thousands? I
don't even know.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Well, we also have liquid weed killers, but other things
in the ad are are going to be the meishre,
the moisture control. Uh, miracle girl, potty mix.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
That's two that's five dollars off at fourteen ninety nine.
That's a two cubic foot bag.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
That's a big bag.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
That's almost as big as some of your children, Haley,
it's but your but your children are much creer than that.
And there's a and then there's a nozzle for six
ninety nine. I'm sure that'll get everybody excited, okay. And
there's some We have rebates on the round. We have
rebates on the home defense. Home defense who has ants
in their house right now?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
We are applying it as we speak.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Absolutely home defense is it is an interesting product. There's
a product called Bifenthren. And it took me two years
to learn how to pronounce that. But the Bifenthren actually
what you do is you take this. It comes in
a pre mixed bottle with.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
A battery operated sprayer. You open up the sprayer and
you put a chemical moat all the way around your house,
all the way up on the foundation, down on the dirt.
And what that will prevent the ants from coming in.
Because the ants don't live in your house, that's a
marvelous place for them to visit. They want the food,
they want the food and take it back. You put
this down two or three days, the ants will be gone.

(17:43):
It's great new see it is.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
It doesn't smell, it doesn't stain. It's a lot like Brian.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
It's just marvelous. Yeah, that's it's important. You can put
it on vinyl signing, brick, things like that, and once
it's evaporates and evaporates quickly on a day like this,
it's really safeer Petsy.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
It is.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
I love all of that. And I will say this,
it's so nice for a Mother's day gift to have
those tasks completed, to have it the mental checkload, you know, offloaded.
So if that's been on your honeydew list, treat your
special someone and get those tasks done.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Speaking if a mother would appreciate a gallon of home
defense for Mother's Day, I'm sorry, I'm thinking about that
for bombing. We're no load.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Well, we have to take a break, but we're gonna
come back. And actually the Nina Animal Shelter is going
to stop by, believe it or not. They've got some
great pups up for adoption. And this is a pop
friendly store.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
We always yeah, we do allow dogs in our store.
That started there was a uh, there was an electrician
behind the store, and he had this German shepherd, and
every once in a while when the back door was opened,
the German shepherd would kind of come in and wander around.
And so after a while we said, what the heck,
let's love dogs in here.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
We all love dogs.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
In fact, if you wanted to rob the place, you
would come in with a cute dog. We all go
over and fuss over the dog. And while we're doing that,
you can walk out the door with anything else that
you wanted. It's it's just that's yeah, that's maybe I shouldn't. Oh,
it looks like one of the guys.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Just bought a little little something, a little it's a
battery operated uh foo.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Foo foo fooloo.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeahard earlier.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
We're gonna take a break, but we'll have more from
Jim maybe Brian Webb as well. So stick with us,
Join us here at Krueger True Value in Nina. We've
got one mug left.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
One.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Come on up to the counter, say mug and it's yours.
We'll return with more of Focus Fox Valley after this.
Good afternoon, and welcome back. We are broadcasting live today
from Kruger's true value here in Nina nine ninety nine

(19:49):
Winne County Avenue. The Chef's gone grilling are here, Lunch
is on us, so grab a bite. Our last mug
was claimed and my goodness did those go quick. So
thanks everyone for stopping in and joining us. We still
can have you register to win some Brewers tickets, though
we will be picking a winner at the end of
the show, so stop on by, enter some details and

(20:11):
you can maybe have a shot at some Brewers tickets
with w hby. Since we're in Nina, I thought it
only appropriate to keep our segment today with the Nina
Animal Shelter, especially since kruger Is is such a dog
friendly space and Cydy Flogger is here with us. Executive
director of the Nina Animal Shelter.

Speaker 5 (20:28):
Hi, Cindy, Hi, good to see you, and it's fun
to be here instead of in studio.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
A little bit of a field trip for all of us. Well,
we need to talk about a pup to share. We've
got a dog to let our listeners know about. And
Cydy actually had a different dog prepared for today, but
then she emailed me with some good news that that
sweet Pop has gone to foster to adopt. So that's
some good news.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Yes, so that's how we roll. We have to be
prepared to pivot very.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Quickly do so instead. Today we've got Jelly Roll, who
came in as a transfer in February.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
He did he was in an overcrowded shelter. He's just
an inquisitive guy, very fun. He is very bouncy, perky.
But he's still a pop a little mow. How did
I say? He was a little over just over a year.
A little over a year, and so he can get

(21:28):
very excited with new people and we say ps pants.
But he's working on the potty training. But he's excellent
on more walks and he really is treat motivated to
learn all new tricks to please you.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah, he's just a sweetheart. We're going to post a
photo of him later this afternoon. He has got the
most beautiful eyes and he's young, so he's got energy.
What kind of house might he be matched best with.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
I think a household that loves to take walks, some
time outside, but also it's happy to chill inside, have toys,
like I said, work on new things to keep his
mind busy too, new tricks, new outlets for him.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Need some challenges. He's not likely best in a home
with cats though.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
No, he does have a habit of chasing, so we
think he would do okay with another dog. But of course,
when there is already a dog in the home, we
like to do a meet and greet just to make
sure they're going to get along.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
That's great. Seeing jelly Roll is as easy as calling
the shelter, right you need to set up an appointment.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
Fill out an application, get it preapproved. So if you
want to come and meet jelly Roll, you're all set
to go. Also, if there's other pups you want to see,
we want to make it the best fit for your family.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
And how are we doing with the number of dogs
in shelter right now? Are we getting up there or
are we seeing some good turnover? Right now?

Speaker 5 (22:57):
We are still seeing good adoption pace. But we also
have several and foster. We have a mama who had
six puppies, so stay tuned. They're not adaptable yet, they're
very young, but they're just the cutest, sweetest things.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
I can only imagine. Oh my goodness. Well, we also
want to squeeze in an event mentioned here today because
as we're talking about all these animals. Of course we
need to feed them, we need to make sure they've
got clean bedding and safe spaces and toys to play with,
and of course we want to make sure that they're
nice and warm and cozy and comfortable and all that
comes with funds and fundraising and if you care about animals,

(23:34):
the annual garden party and plant sale might be the
event to attend.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
Absolutely, and that's another perfect reason to be here today.
I saw the plants out there and people are ready
to garden. It's beautiful weather. So our plant sale is
a fundraiser. We do it annually. We're excited this year
that it will be at our new shelter grounds located
at two four seventy five Progress Court. But it is

(24:01):
a growing fundraiser. People love to come out. They love
to browse the plants we have and it's all ranges
of plants, but we also have garden decor, we have
Nina Manasha, our Nina Animal Shelter merchandise and everybody just
I mean, there's a line at nine am, so no

(24:23):
early birds, but you can form the line so you
can get the best of the best and help the
shelter At the same time.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
It's become an event that so many people look forward
to year after year, and it keeps growing pun intended here.
In twenty twenty four you raised over sixteen thousand dollars
and in the last year you raised twenty thousand dollars.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Well, that's our goal for all that's your goal for this. Yes,
we have to keep pushing the envelope. Our vet care costs,
our food costs, all of that for taking care of
those sweet animals, is you know, just like everybody else
we're experiencing.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yes, and there are costs. There are a couple other
things to pequk our listener's interest. Some raffle baskets that
are always stunning stunning.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
Yes, we have very generous people that help us put
together raffle baskets. Everybody wants a chance that those you're
not going to go hungry. We have a broad fry,
hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and then we also have a
fun activity for the kids. And I think I can
give a sneak peek. They're going to be able to

(25:29):
adopt a for friend Stuffy and then they'll get an
adoption certificate and we'll give them a little information about
being a pet owner.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
And let me tell you, Cindy, if I have to
imagine these kids will take that very seriously.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
Yes, they will know how to take care of their baby.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
That's wonderful. Again. It's coming up fast Saturday, May seventeenth,
from nine am to two pm on the Nina Animal
Shelter Grounds, which is off Progress Court in Nina, and
all funds go right back to the Nina Animal.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
Shelter absolutely for the care of the animals.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Great well, Cindy, I'm glad you could sneak over here today.
Thanks for joining us live on location. If people want
to follow up with questions about Jelly Roll or any
other of the adoptable animals in shelter, how can they
do that.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
Either give us a call or go on our website
Ninaanimalshelter dot orgi and all their information is listed on
their bio. How much costs for adopting each of the
animals and come on in and meet them.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
You can make a difference. Thank you Cindy for being
here today. It's great to see you.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
Us well, and happy Mother's Day to you.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Thank you to Cindy, thank you all right. That's Cindy
Flogger executive director with the Nina Animal Shelter joining us
here today we'll take our final break and deliver more
from Kruger True Value here in Nina. We're back in
a moment, and welcome back to Focus Fox Valley here

(27:09):
on whby celebrating one hundred years of broadcast, which makes
you know, coming out and meeting so many of you
very very special. We're here with another member of the
Century Club, but they're a century plus fifty six, I
believe fifty nine. Brian, my goodness, that's Brian Webb joining
us here from Krueger True Value in Nina. We've got

(27:31):
a few minutes left in our live broadcast. The chefs
are still out there, gone brilling. We've got Brewers tickets
that you can win. Still a chance to win those
Brewers tickets by entering here on location. And my goodness,
we're celebrating so many things. Mother's Day weekend feel very
very special.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Oh, especially with the forecast. We have time right, It's
sure was a long time coming. Prior to this, I
would say, oh, did you enjoy Spring? It was four
hours ago when it lasted four hours so but now
this is the real thing and you can see the
trees are just about to burst. I have a red
bud in my front yard that's just ready to roll.

(28:12):
And it just gets you really excited when you when
you see all the emerging spring is just the best.
And to have it coincide with Mother's Day, it's just
a well, happy Mother's Day to all moms out there.
They never cease to amaze me their perseverance and all
the skills that I don't have.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Well said, I'm thinking of all the moms out there
this weekend too, and I'm loving people walking in with
all the plants. That's what makes my heart so happy
this weekend, as that we're so close to that planting
season seeing all the hanging baskets coming in. I actually
scooped up one of your arrangements to display here at

(28:52):
our broadcast booth.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
There's so many such variety, and.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
We have an excellent grower. They really have some unique
offerings and that very highest quality. And we always look
at our much like the animals shelter. We're taking care
of these plants until they find a new home. Yeah,
you know, and it sounds corny, but we really do
take care of them. We're always dead heading the petunias
and things like that, and so we really do take

(29:17):
pride in how we take care of them until they
find a nice place to be hanging in your front
yard or in you're buried buried in your garden. So,
in fact, I covered my plants last night because I
smart move. I listened to your broadcast and they said
there was a freeze warning, and so I i and
it was cold. It was about midnight, and I said

(29:37):
I'd better cover them up, because I did. I don't
usually plant this early, but I am spring.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Was sold kitchen.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Yeah, exactly. I put them in the ground a little
earlier than usual, so I covered them up and everything
looks great.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Well, Brian, one other thing you might hear this weekend
is the sun of lawnmowers, because if you haven't gotten
to it yet, now is the time. And I've noticed
many altmore rolling through here, either to get service or
I've noticed a couple folks taken home something that's brand
spacon new.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
You know, we really do. And an emerging new types
of models are the ones that are electric with a
lot of voltage. You can they run nearly up to
an hour, and so that has been a really revolutionary
thing in the more industry. But you know, we've been
a proud Too dealer for decades and if you really

(30:28):
want a quality product that will last you many, many years.
And the best thing is is when I finished mowing,
it doesn't look like I just mowed my lawn. And
what I mean by that is you never see clumps
of you know, browning out cut grass. It just does
an exquisite job of mulching and actually adding nutrients to

(30:48):
your lawn. And it doesn't us It doesn't put the
clippings in the landfill. So there are a lot of positive.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Things wind winds and a win win wind. Because I've
completed the web trifecta, I've got Mac to come sit
down next to us. Max. Welcome, good to see you,
my friend. Y.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
It's good to see you too.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Thanks for having us out today.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
Absolutely wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Max. What's on your mind for for Mother's Day? What
would you like to point out that you've got in
store that those shopping for Mother's Day might want to
take a look at.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Oh goodness, that's a good question.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Got plenty of stuff, get some stuff on sale too.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Absolutely, I'm trying to did they cover most of it,
not the bargains of the month.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Yeah, there's some like that lawn fabric is half off. Yeah,
that is a screaming deal.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
The other good deal that we have out there is
we got some nine pattern or excuse me, seven pattern
model holes sprayers. Yes, those things are originally fourteen ninety
nine down now are now down to six ninety nine.
So that's a fantastic deal. We got the what is
that seventy five foot never King Coles go along with it.
Got everything that you need to get your garden guardard. Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
The kids love those two because you've got different different
patterns you can use for running around in the yard
and the kid the kids love it.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Spraying the dogs, praying the other kids.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yeah, absolutely, my goodness, that's that's fantastic. Max. I got
to request the tagline from you because you do it
so well. And if we could have a Kruger True
Value tagline from Max here, I'll let you whenever you're ready.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
And Kruger's true value true value behind every project is
a true value.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
There it is. It's my favorite. It's my favorite. I'm
glad you could stop by, Max. I appreciate you guys
having us out here every every Mother's Day.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
We appreciate you guys coming out. It's definitely a fun time.
I enjoy seeing you guys every every year.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Yeah, and we have some delicious brats outside, So we're
going lunch after this great idea.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
If people don't come out and need them, we're gonna
have them sit here. I'm gonna eat them. I don't
need them, so come out and uh yeah's some home
with you?

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Please, Max, Could you give us the logistics here hours
that you are open for those who might want to
stop in today or through the weekend.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
Monday through Monday through Friday. We're open eight to six
or US Saturday eight to five and Sunday ninety two.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Wonderful. Also on the world Wide Web.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Truly griggers through value dot com.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
That's right for Birstry.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Value dot com. You've got many a way to connect.
They're on Facebook too. You post the dogs on Facebook.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
We try to post as many dogs that come in
here as possible. You Usually we get too enamored with
petting them and giving them the amount of treats that
we have up at the front, and we kind of
forget to put them up there. But we see dogs
all the time. We absolutely want dogs coming in because
we absolutely love to see them.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Yeah, grab a bag of popcorn, come say hello and
celebrate and shop. Kruger's Truly has everything you might need
for getting the yard ready, getting your home beautified, and
just for just having some fun working on a project
this weekend.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Did we mention that we got the sod in?

Speaker 1 (33:52):
We have some.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
Yes, we just got sod in yesterday, So we have
a whole palette up of it out there, and we
had a couple of cusps. I'm just come and ask
me about that. Yeah, just putting that out there. We
got some sod in.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
