need to know my socials.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
You know who I am already.

You are invested in who I am as a human being,
and you don't need me to tell you.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Family that's gathered from.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
This is part of the problem with the podcast, not enough.
You were telling other people about who I am, So
I'm not gonna tell you how to find me. If
you're watching it on Christmas, you know me, so tell
them about me.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
You know my social Yeah, share this with your family.
Let's let's get our subscribers a thousand. We're still trying
to give a thousand dollars.

Ima Junior to d A m and at the number
two such exchange rates, and duncan.

Christmas presence. You lose them like we're here.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
You gotta spend them before the end of the calendar year.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yes, how they don't roll over.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
They roll over.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
To negotiate that with the FAED you try to use.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Before we dive into the this Christmas chair. Damon, if
you missed our last episode, we were gonna I was
gonna bring this up on the last episode, but there
was already family tension. So if you if you missed
Damon and Nate having a slight discussion about respect on
the name a week ago, I know.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
We last episode.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
So I feel the same that you need to put
some respect on on my name. And so I tuned in.
I was sick, I was I was sick in bed
and I tuned in to to fourth and ten, and
you know it was a laugh dance stay in bed.
(02:36):
This man grinds too hard. Maybe that's true, but then
you know there's there's phrases that that like that that
gets stated that you're just like they like hit you
in a place where you're like no, and it's.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
A little so much funnier with you in a Santa hat.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Good and so Damon just out of like under there's
other comments happening under the comments happening. Damon goes, Dan's
a fake it till you make it type guy.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I love how he brought it in the chat. In
the chat, I want to make sure you'll find it.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
And I was like, wait, what, wait what? I'm a
lot of things and this podcast showcases many of them.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Fake it till you make.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
It is.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
The worst thing that could be stated about me. Literally,
I went to sleep thinking about that. That na I
literally was like.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
He did put the laugh in. I gotta make sure
find it.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Damon laughed at this man's emotions and I was like,
I have to deal with this.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
I love it, love his man.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
In what way? Damon? Am I a fake it till
I make it?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Type. All, here's the deal.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
As an entrepreneur, as anyone that's built something, there is
a moment, oh for sure in time where you are like,
this is not real yet, but I believe it can
be real.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Belief.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
So there was a season of my life where that
may have been the thing I never didn't want anyone
to know, but it was probably I.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Want to add context of this whole dynamic too. And
I'm reading when you sit. So you sent it Thursday,
which after you recorded at nine in the morning, but
you said I watched the episode last night at two am,
which means you should sleep, and he.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Was like, coffee, hold on, hold on, I was up remedicating, Yeah,
I had something terrible.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, hilarious. I remember the Yeah, they would just put it.
I put it in the chat bro.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
No oh yeah, you and Nate both put I was like,
I'm not touching this.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Different circle this Please like this so I could come
back to this video later.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
And I was even gonna have, like Joel. I was
gonna even have it because like I was gonna have
Joel pull it up and be like because it was
gonna be one of those things where You're like I
I was just talking and it like it has it's
inconsequential or it was like we gotta deal with Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Then wanted like a John Madden doodle right here tonight,
here's where you're going after my hopes and dreams.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yeah, no, I'm always just trying to shoot.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Was not there?
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Uh so you were just not present and.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I'm glad you weren't.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
You should not be present at I'm good.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
I'm good. I've been tested for everything. Okay, it don't
sound like I mean, it's the lingering cost. It's like
the last the last death rattle of either my life.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Stick around where you're just like, I'm fine.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Man, got my steps out, but long COVID.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I just want to make.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
I do you have to say I did worry about
long covid. There was a moment I.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Want to see Damon on stand for some kind of
any kind of crime and they're like, sir, you rob
this bag, did all right?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
You literally I want someone to go find the Damon
and Nate fight from last week where.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Like it goes differently to me, dame something, well.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
You you were wrong, you were wrong, you were wrong,
and check the tape.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
No, no, No, you're still wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
You're wrong.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
You're still wrong.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I can be morally wrong, I'm not factually you are
factually wrong, Nate.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Let's move on.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Just seven days ago we feel Yeah, it's Christmas morning
this morning.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
So we cleared this up though, Dan, I would you
go ahead?
Speaker 5 (06:40):
I I want to shout out Dan, whether it was
one hundred percent jokes or twenty percent of jokes, that
is what man do man come up and speak out
of I don't sup tweet, we don't.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I mean, it's straight up about Dan. Hey, you say to.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Ours I was like, I said that there don't dug No,
I don't remember the comment or the text message.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
I know you didn't.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
That's why I was when he said I got beef
and I was like, oh, I know, this is in
my mind.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
I was like, here, has no idea where you go?
Speaker 5 (07:11):
Y'all started laughing. I was like, where is he going?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
That's it, all right, that's grown folks stuff. That's what
we do. Baby barried Christmas.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
We can do. We can we can do the jail
and her day.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Know you kept that all internal in the morning.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, I was sleeping on the couch and and.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Uh, and then walked in she was in the doghouse.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
No, no, he was. I was just trying not to
like keep her away and this in the bed was
already infested with whatever sickness.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Had kids up said, y'all listen, remember they said about
your papa, Like literally I couldn't.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Like, I was like, I'm not that guy.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
No, that's what that is.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
What's funny because like, I know you took it there,
and I know he's like, damn, was just saying stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I was like, I have a lot of things, but
but I've gotten rid of smoking the smoking mirrors thankfully
in my in my in my journey.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
But you did you made it like you like you said,
there was a point where you're.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Like, which, which again it's like, yeah, yeah, there, there
definitely was a point. There's definitely there's definitely a point
in my life where like it would have been the
worst thing to be found out of. Like you're starting
something and everyone's already doing the like that's cute that
you're starting. Like if you start anything, you're whether you're
telling someone you're gonna be a comment or you're gonna
(08:40):
start a business. Everyone's like that's cute.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
What was the biggest the earliest, like biggest fake that
y'all did in com I remember mine.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
I was glad you said that. They was like, yo, bro,
we're gonna pay you two thousand dollars. This was like
years four times two thousand dollars, but we need you
to do sixty minutes. You've done that before, absolute before
I had done like twenty dog maybe facts bro the
whole way I'm writing, revising, trying to think about I'm
looking at facts about the school. What can I talk
(09:09):
about for five minutes?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
They ain't got him and cheese on Friday Rooms. I'm
trying to pull out everything. And I get there and
it's like, hey, we just need you to do forty five.
I was like, Okay, I do it, and I'm just
going I'm just I'm trying to stand everything I'm talking about.
We had it and I get off that stage and
I had fifty two on the raided on the record
and I was like.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Yes, I did it. That's a fact.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
I'm like, it's saying I can't remember it exactly, but
every it's every time you get a hour and the
first time you get done that, you're like, yeah, I
can do it.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
You've never done it. You're faking it. You figure it out.
That's part of the game. It sucks, it's part of
the game.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
The worst was I almost ended my career before it
began because of a fake it till you make it.
That was because there was a guy down the street
who was sounds bad. Yeah, he was engaged to one
of my friends. He was trying to an agent. Oh,
and so this is when I'm starting to like talk
about doing an open mic. And he was like, well,
let me call ahead as your agent. And he's like,
(10:12):
then they'll think you're like a big shot and if
you don't know anything about comedy, You're like, well that
makes sense, Like I already have. I already have an agent.
Ignorance is bliss like and I was like, you know what,
that doesn't really feel like. It just didn't feel right.
I was like, let me just go and check it
out first first, and so that's.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
What I did.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
And now a few years and I was like, oh,
I would have been Yeah, I would hear a man
by Nathan Ellen.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
If I be friends.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
If I had, it would have been years of ridicule
for me to come back from that. Yeah, Like I
cannot imagine being a showrunner getting a call from somebody
who hasn't been on stage once. The agent A.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Right, all right, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Everybody's sit around the fourth and ten Yule log. Let's
talk Christmas. Uh, let's build our podcast Christmas playlist. So
we're just gonna go around. We're gonna pick one classic.
We're gonna pick one new school contemporary. We'll say within
the past decade, that's that's come out. Give me more,
you need more than a decade.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, sometimes we forget how long bro ten years.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
From twenty twenty fifteen on. Give me at least two thousand, all.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Right, So for the New millennium, yeah, since since the
New millennium, Yeah, that is.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
A whole adult that's twenty four years exactly.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
It's twenty we're coming up on twenty five. We're coming
out on a quarter century.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Facts in the two thousands, facts, fact facts.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
You just want to say. I found out earlier this
year that I saw grandma. I saw I saw my
mamma kissing Santa Claus.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
I did not know that was the father.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
I thought it was just a song about infidelity, and
I thought that mom was making Santa Cross for presence.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
WHOA cleverly pinned to.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
My girlfriend because I was just like, is that crazy that?
I was about like that about you? Well, here's my
parents show each other. That's what I thought.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
She was like, no, the dads up Like. I was like, what, Yeah,
I love that. I love that.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
I thought it was a single mom when when I
was growing up, I thought I thought it was a
single mom.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
That was just like going at trying to get a
man in the house.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
After saying that's that's funny, Allison won't listen to that
song because she takes the the infidelity line.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Oh, She's like, that's a classic.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
All right, let's let's go through wall pick one classic,
and then we'll go through a wallpick a contemporary. I'll
take a song. Look, it's it got it. I listened
to it so much it made it on my Spotify wrapped,
which was.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
This man didn't put up a Christmas tree, but he
but once on Spotify, Rapp keep going.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
You're the most confusing human being.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
I wish i'd made since Stephen myself Fairytale in New York.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
I've never heard this.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
I don't know what that is. By the you're saying
you're saying spending.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
We'll see you speaking rush.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Literally this fits perfectly. You literally literally heard you literally
b sided.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
It's not being kind, it's a side. It's not at
the Tale of New York Is.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
We don't know the name, it don't matter.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's literally it's a classic Christmas.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Can't be class. They got a music video.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Okay, I'll go next and I'll show you what.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
A classic A eighty.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I'll go next to any not king call Christmas song
I would put on this list, but I will do
Silent Night, not king call a.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
I like, see what we're about to do. We're about
to build a playlist, and you just took Silent Night,
So I'm gonna let slad Knight be that be even though,
but I.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Respect respect a very respectable sound. What's the best silent
It's not going on the playlist, but just what what
do you think?
Speaker 5 (14:06):
But snack and coke? I'll run Since you were right
there asking that question, I'll run. I'm gonn running down
half the way this christ Chris, we will be a
very run down your building to day. We have it
a good time. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I'm skipping, but.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Now mine is James Brown tell SAMs go straight to
the ghettop, come on, come on, it's a great song song.
But then in our family there's this lord that at
the end of the song he shouts out, he goes
and tell him, Hank Ballad sent you.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Hank Ballard Ballad is my grandma's maiden name. So Hank Ballart.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Actually like in my family, Like he's like a family man.
So it's one of those things like as a kid, oh,
my dad saying that, Like, oh, that's also how I
found out that me and like Marlon are probably cousins,
got it? And also brass.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Yeah, like we're all like some kind of don't get
in a big dog.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Give us one for the playlist.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
You got a classic out there.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
All my Christmas stories are sad.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Okay, all right, thank you.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
People with happy childhood enjoy.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Yes, yes, we're here to bring you all right. So
now we're gonna do contemporary and what I want to say,
back up, Yeah, I don't want a contemporary cover of
a classic.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
No, you don't get to do that.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
What do you do?
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Because I don't think it's as much fun if we can,
if we go in sync, that's.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Not a nun for you. You put some weird video song, weird.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Little snak it, We'll snake it back, all right.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
So I was gonna pick this Christmas but Chris Brown
because people hate on that one.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
But it's a very good version.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
It's very very it's very good in the video to
be singing and danced in the middle of the street,
not hurting nobody.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
It's great.
Speaker 5 (16:04):
It's a good time.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
There's a spoken word piece that does like the marry
did you know? But it actually doesn't feel corny.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
Those first two words you spaid, were you down?
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (16:17):
And the spoken word piece, I feel like I needed
to I didn't. I didn't prep but it's a spoken
word married did you know?
Speaker 5 (16:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:26):
I was torn.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
I'll just pick one for the sake of our time here.
But if I was choosing one, my girl specifically huge
fans of Megan Trainer. Uh, and she got a couple
of Christmas bops. So Christmas Party by Megan Trainer is
a good time. You kind of we're passing out gifts.
It's kind of up tempo, like the mess like it's
(16:48):
it's Christmas y yep. It's not just about like relationships
or something like, it's yeah, Christmas party Mega Trent.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
All right, so I don't know who this other person is.
Seth McFarlane and Liz Gyles Jilli's okay. They have one
of the best Christmas albums I've ever heard. It came
out last year, and I think their cover of uh,
Holly Jolly Christmas.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
Holly Jolly Christmas ever just.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Said no covers.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I did, but the rules out there no covers and
then didn't see a ho ho ho that was my
original pie stand by that. See. This Christmas album is phenomenal.
Dan introduced me to it a few years ago. It's
like almost like a pirate shanty.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
I don't know what's the biggest here. I don't really know.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
See you uh see you did the chandelier. Yeah, but her,
her Christmas album, it's all original.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
What happened to her? She had a big song, She
had a huge like one of the biggest songs ever.
She she must she.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Probably just doing well.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yeah. I think it was one of those things that
like relationally, relationship why she kind of like some changes
happened in her life. And then I think she was like, mad,
I'm good with this.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
You want to do honorable mentions? I because I don't
know if this one is is. I don't know if
it's PC still because I have I have two and
they're both. I don't know if I'm allowed to listen
to him anymore. Baby, it's cold outside. I know. That's
a little uh, a.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Little little I really can't stay it's cold.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
There's some there's some sentences that if you took them
out of context, they're a little uh no.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
She's saying I don't want to be here. He like, no,
you ain't going nowhere.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
That's if you if you keep it very flirty.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
That's one thing we had to be there.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
It's a real mommy kissing Xanta Claus situation where you
go if you don't know and you put whatever.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
It's not that one because saying I really can't, I
got im say very different. We're married, people say what's
in this drink?
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Who wrote?
Speaker 1 (18:57):
That's the one where people are like, but look, I
love a duet, I love Christmas. It's a fun little
back and forth and then uh mel mel huh. It's
the Hawaiian Christmas song. Look, I don't know it. I
don't know if I say it right, I don't I.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Know, you don't I don't know. I don't know how
the word is, but I know you don't say it.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
I feel like it's again. I don't know if we're
allowed to say it's great. It's one of my favorite
Christmas songs. Ever, I didn't put it on the list.
It's horrible mentioned again. I don't know if we're I
don't know if I'm allowed to sing it anymore or.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Are you scared to say it?
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Very because I like it? I like it. No, No,
let's keep it. Let me keep this fear it's It's important.
It's important development because basically.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
We stole a We stole a country, gave them a holiday,
and then wrote a song about how they say that holiday,
and it turned out to be a fantastic song. We
obviously stole well.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Pentatonics Up on the House, Taps.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
On the house top, They're on my no playlist.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
You don't like because he don't like talent, like you're
like any acapella all capella. He never heard Take five.
You know he never heard Take five the candy bar.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Come on to Americas, to Americas, give been around us
too long?
Speaker 4 (20:12):
You live in the West End.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
I'd be sick of this dog. I really this man,
get the lights out of the neighborhood doing this.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
I've been coming there so much of You say your
Hawaiian Christmas song and you don't know. Take five acapella's trash.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
You don't even know.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
You don't even know because you got unseasoned acapella and
they're not even bad, respectfully pure.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Not bad.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
But take five.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Take five and having no ideas.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Frustrated, you get to Egyptian twins.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
You take five.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
I'm listen, I'm gonna be I'm gonna say something I
ain't said before. Heyna. I'm gonna say something that I
feel like I'm justified saying.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
If you happen to get to a couple of kids
of color, I'm gonna kidnap your kids for a little bit.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm gonna give them back. But I don't be like,
hey man, I know that we're gonna listen to some music,
We're gonna go dancing, were.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Gonna do some stuff. Because this man can't raise you
by hisself. I cannot allow it.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
I can.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I will make myself part of the hills, even more
so because I will not let you raise no kids
that don't know Take five or commission.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
No, we definitely weren't gonna ask you to do stuff
like that anyway.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
I'm I'll do I'll add to it. So I saw
three Ships as the song. It's also a ni King
Cole song, but Sufon Stevens covered it and it is excellent.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
All bring Ship is a fun one. Got some little
flutes in there. That's a good time, is it?
Speaker 4 (21:38):
I don't even know if this is a Christmas is it?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
We three kinks? Is that?
Speaker 3 (21:42):
I love a medley or whatever that when they when
they do around or whatever, they call it that, and uh, yeah,
I think that's that's my or the first Noel one
of those.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
It doesn't matter who it is, but those are I
let y'all cook. Yeah, but probably we think kings that
one that one mind?
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Is your favorite Christmas song? Your favorite Christmas song to sing?
If you're in the car by yourself, you're throwing on
your playlist for you.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
This Christmas is up there for sure, this Christmas you
have one.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
If we're doing like a Christmas karaoke, what are you
throwing on?
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Whatever I said?
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Whatever I said, So your your top is your.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
My favorite Christmas music is not Christmas music I can
sing because it's generally like choir like my favorite my
go to is like old school like choir, like like
you're in a cathedral and it's like echoing and it's
beautiful and it's.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Can I give you something quiet? Can I give you
if you like christmasqu I'm gonna give you something. I
don't even know if it might have already happened when
I was at Morehouse. Our glee club is like they
traveled the world and they do a Christmas concert. Okay,
I remember one day I think I just probably failed
some class or something like that, and it was there
and it's packed, like people beat there.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
It's not like oh stumbling when I tell you, I
was like yeo, because it's in the like this thing.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Like that and that the pup like Carol the belt like.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Remember there was a thing they did I'll never get
as long as I live.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
It was like a rhythm to it and it was
like clap clap and they moving. I'm like, and it
was kicking, and I was like it was it was
the most phenomenal thing I've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
It was all Christmas. You live in the West End,
go to it, Nate, Oh look.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
I love Christmas event. Did y'all ever go see a
living Christmas tree.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
I don't know what that is, Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I was reminded of this the other day. I did
not realize until my in laws called my wife to
say that they had gone to one. They're telling her
about their day. It is a it's a choir, but
they're stacked like a Christmas tree. And it was a
memory that came rushing back to me because it freaks
me out so much. Could you just see like from
(23:46):
my shoulders and it's all green And I remember seeing
the scaffolding because it happened at the church when I
was like four, and it just it freaked me out
so much. But apparently it's this huge nostalgic thing. Interesting,
it was big in the ninth One of Libby's cousins
was like, I have to go see a living Christmas tree,
(24:07):
and like sought one out. And I didn't know if
that was like, it's not.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
In my memory bank.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
No.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
I think it's we are just different so much. Holiday
holiday have so much to offer on an experience level. Yes,
that's why I think personally for so many people, especially
in the States, is number one. It's because it just
it can bring so much to the table. Different memories,
different traditions, I mean, songs and family, you know what
(24:34):
I'm saying. So it's just like there's so many nooks
and crannies that can make this time of the year
tis the season. Religion, non religion, family, food, et cetera,
et cetera.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
What is one thing, one tradition that you're like it.
Christmas does not happen without doing this thing.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Yeah, one a is our Christmas pancakes. And uh so
that's one for sure. We just get up that is
that's the meal and it's nothing special, Like, it's not
we're not doing we don't have a bar of toppings.
It's just we make pancakes as a family together and
then we usually read kind of the story of Christ
(25:13):
Luke or whatever the case may be. We sit around,
we hug and kind of share something we're grateful for,
YadA YadA. So those two things really back to back
breakfast boom. But we get up early because I do
not like from a kid to the door, I do
not like capital letters opening gifts late.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
What's late question? Late to me?
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Late on a time wise? All right, we're probably opening
gifts at the latest by eight am. Oh yeah, yeah,
we are up making pancakes around six last week on
the other episode, I want to be home. I want
to run into the tree that's up. I'm up before
the kid like, oh, daddy got some good stuff. I'm
(25:59):
in it right, I'm saying. The music's playing, the fire
tree is going to lights are lit. We're ready, you understand,
And when they come up.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
This is the day. So everybody's around eight. This is
the that's that's the latest. So that's for us, So
I'll jump on that.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
So one of our Christmas traditions in our family is
we kind of do we do like appetizers in my
family growing up. This is not maybe the state today,
but like we do appetizers like shrimp, cocktail, like chips, dips,
all those types of things for Christmas dinner. Like we
don't do like fancy Christmas Eve dinner.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
So we do that.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
And then that basically culminates in the negotiation between the
kids and the parents of when the wake up is,
and it's always the like parents are like like ten
o'clock and then and the ladies and then but it's
always like wink wink yeah, because then the kids like
five am. And it ends in the negotiation of six am,
(26:59):
six thirty. This is when we can get up. Uh,
And that's that's always like how we kind of you know,
negotiate the Christmas have.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
To have it.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
It seems like you're opening gifts that no one over there,
bro bro, And I was like, I see, like yeah,
came around one third.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
So a couple of things definitely happened as a kid.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
That like our tradition where it's like we used to
have to read Luke to my dad, make sure we
read that, which was fine until my little sister came
around and he was like, she can read, she can't read,
and now we are here.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Already she's stumbling through Luke and I got to talk
open up.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Oh and then oh, I just want to popcorn read dog.
I wanted that so bad And she can read good now.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
She's ready good.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
But when she was like, oh, just a kindergarten third
out and I'm reading at a higher level, I'm like,
give me the Bible, give it to me some out.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
No.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
So this is when I realized, like who whose I am?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Like?
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Whose child I am?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
So that whole early morning thing, bro, my mom, she
listens and Donna make sure she hears.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
This Okay, I know what you used to do.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
My mom would do a thing where we would clearly
be very excited about gifts and she'd be like, I
just I just feel like sleeping in and she would
and I'm like, what made you do that?
Speaker 4 (28:21):
You saw us?
Speaker 3 (28:23):
But she and I get as an older baby, it's
like I'm wired this way. It was like, oh, you
want something, you're not gonna get it. And I'm like
that to my so I was like, oh, that's where
I got it from.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
I used to be.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
She's like, maybe, what, just let me get a couple mores,
And I knew she didn't even sleep.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
She was like, just hold on Christmas morning, y'all.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Mor I know it's a super Nintendo down there. She
rolled around the bed like, my let me be very honest.
I don't know, okay. In my mind five o'clock in
the afternoon. In my mind, I'm like all the other
kids are playing already.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Would bikes?
Speaker 4 (29:00):
You know what I'm saying out here?
Speaker 3 (29:02):
If I had, if I really had to guess, it
might have been like nine thirty ten.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Here's the thing. Three times I've been up since.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Six easy like I've been I've already looked at all
the boxes like oh, that's probably this, and that's probably that.
And my mom and like she could see the anticipation
and I say, hey, hey Mom, you coming, yeah, just
you know, just to me, just like oh you And
now I get older like you are you evil?
Speaker 5 (29:32):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Sweet up? Christmas Carol, Christmas Christmas Eve, which is usually
the fourth or fifth time I've watched it. That's that's
about like all of my traditions are in flux right
now because we're on We're on the fourth Christmas as
married people. So it's like we're still figuring that out tradition.
(29:53):
We don't have kids, which is when our traditions will
get built.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Do the movies bring that bag solid, y'all? Both like Christmas?
Speaker 1 (30:04):
You know our kids will have no no currently oh
yeah no I do no, No, you say.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
I I'm saying, do you and Lemmy watch?
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Okay? Yeah, so we have we have a gauntlet of
Christmas movies that we have to watch and start after
Thanksgiving for the last four years.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yes, okay, AND's Christmas Carol is for sure the best.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Carrol is the best.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
And so we say that you guys, we're not gonna
We're not This is not.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
The other way.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
I think we're gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
Talked about last year.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
And we'll do it again.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Because just because we say we're not gonna talk about something,
does it mean we're actually not gonna talk about something.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Wow, Mama's Christmas whatever is trash. It's not good, it's
not fun.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
It's not fun, it's weird. There's so many other better
Christmas movies to experience.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Look, you can say that's y'alls take fine, This is
how I handle this.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
It's not you see how I let him say something
that I disagreed with.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
We let you say what your your piece was, and
then we called you on the fact we weren't gonna
say pre show, pre roll. What we're not gonna do
is what you did.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Anyway.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Anyway, trash movie, all of it. None of it's fun.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
How many times haven't seen it?
Speaker 4 (31:26):
David? Twice, I was like, I don't get it. Give
me a Christmas.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Story, Christmas story, Yes, okay, because I have one A
one B Muppets Christmas narrow Christmas story, and and Christmas
Story has like it is starting to push into the
Muppets Christmas Carol world.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
For me, Yes, it's fun.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Nostalgia to huh yes, and the nostalgia and the fun
and and like the movements through it and the peaking
duck at the end, like it is. It's just good.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
It's a great movie.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
It's it's good team.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
So I respect our nostalgist. I love nostalgia.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Here, let me flip it for a second. Get back
to your question. You said, because I want to see
how much a little? Because I love our povs. What
is the latest newest Christmas movie you have slash do enjoy?
Because I for us don't. We don't have specific ones
for general. We just know when when our family turns
on Christmas post Thanksgiving, we go all in. We go
(32:26):
full NonStop Christmas movie, every day songs, all because we
know we're giving it hard for thirty days and then
the summers are done. So I watch Christmas movies with
my kids and my family every whatever's new. I'm researching
what are the movies that are coming out.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
New this year?
Speaker 5 (32:42):
So I've got like seven so I'm gonna shut up.
So what is one of the latest quote unquote newest
Christmas movies you've seen and have enjoyed If you can think.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Of off the top of your head, there's only a
few for me.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
The newest movie that I think got added to my
definition of Christmas.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Classic if you want to go that hard it's a
good watch is Elf. No, that's that's still a kind
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
It's it's old and that's what That's why I'm that's
why I'm using the term classic. There have been other
enjoy Fine.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
The last movie to get to that tier.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
It's an every year watch, gotcha?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
And yeah, that's what two thousand, two thousand three, Yeah,
twenty five years. So in the past twenty five years,
I have not, to my recollection, have not seen a
Christmas movie that I've gone that's getting rewatched every year.
The most recent one that I think I really enjoyed
was Spirited.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Oh I ain't seen it yet.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
It's fun, Okay, it's the people behind Greatest Showman.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
The mus musical yeah, oh music, musical. Music's fun. It's bright,
it's colorful, it's it's it's charming, it's very christmasy.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Say what you got, bro, I was gonna say clause
it was the animated animated good so good, so good
that but literally I can think that would be the
only one like Elf would be the newest Christmas movie
that we we've getting. Now, having kids at my age,
I'm starting to try to find what are the like
(34:09):
fun animated like movies that they can get into because
they just don't like Alison. Allison's favorite Chris movie is
die Hard.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Your wife is so great.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Literally shooks the other night and she's like, can we
watch Diehard?
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Can we talk about briefly what does make a Christmas movie?
So I've never seen I actually did this just a trigger.
Oh no, I've never seen Diehard. So I'm not gonna
argue I've never seen anything.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
You've never seen die Hards, never seen Hard.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
I'm not gonna you love die Hard.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
I have any reason why I have.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
And I'm not gonna argue against Diehard being a Christmas movie.
My thing is if I'm looking at a movie that's
not about Santa or Elves, I go, is this a
Christmas movie?
Speaker 5 (34:53):
I go?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
If you take Christmas away.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Christmas is not about Santael's name.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Well, just.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Listen, sit down on my scene. Let's talk about the ress.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
If you take Christmas away, what of the movie is left?
And so, like a lot of people say, like Batman
Returns is not a Christmas. But if you take Christmas away, well,
now the opening scene changes, a dialogue change, there's several
like the movie has to be completely rewritted. And I
don't know about Diehard. If you take Christmas out of Diehard,
(35:22):
is it still die Hard?
Speaker 2 (35:24):
It would be sorry, the Batman version of things.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
So you have to rewrite.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
You have to rewrite the whole thing. Like the tagline,
like the like Merry Christmas is like, uh, the tagline Christmas.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Throw stuff out there where they're like, oh, Harry Potter
is a Christmas movie. It's like Harry Potter has a
Christmas scene and it feels wintery different and it came out.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Around we're suckers, dude, if you if you have a
roaring fire and it's snowing outside.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
But I think, but I think there are vibes, like
I think Harry Potter has a Christmas vibe, the snow
owls and stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (36:03):
But David, I know, uh, our take on watching movies
and such as a little different here, but you got
one that's that's when you've seen latest or newest.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
For a Diehard. He specifically comes to town for his
wife's Christmas party. That's all I need therefore, would not
be there without the Christmas Christmas and the reason why
they're robbing them at Christmas security.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Come on, he's not giving it anyway.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
That's that's literally like the first ten minutes.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
I love that movie because like I'm the one in
the wrong on that one. What you got, David.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I'm like, so I'm realizing how much depth y'all know
about I'm like a Christmas persons.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
I know you're Halloween heavy.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Yeah, even then, I'm like, you know, it's a thing.
I will say a couple of them that like they
do it for Preacher his wife.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
So good, bro, we watched that Preach.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
Pre David still in the nineties, David ketchup, and.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
I'm gonna state there because I ain't seen nothing better.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
No, that's the latest newest one. You think it's Christmas.
They have new shoes every other week.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
You need because I need dope. I don't need a
new spin on Christmas. Something bad happens, something good happens.
People get Christmas year.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
I don't need that.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
So y'all don't watching Christmas movies every other night.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
It's like it's like it was a little bit of fighting.
It was a little bit than nineties. It's a wonderful
life with likeout re without replaying the same plot line
the preachers.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Yeah, there's a little bit too much sexual between Denzil.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Also for the adult if I may, if I may, also,
I saw the play if that man preacher's wife question
and that was I saw that recently that I saw recently,
like this year Red and the Vine was in it.
Great people play with the Fox Lions. I'm a man
of culture, that's true. I want you the Lions.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
I saw that this outfit because I'm gonna be me
where I go. But it was amazing.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
That's that's dope.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
And what's her name from? She's being Glee Amber Riley?
What's the preacher? Great amazing voice. Okay, what else preacher's wife?
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (38:18):
If I contemporary?
Speaker 1 (38:19):
I did like this Christmas What's what's the one where
where Santa Claus kills all the dudes? Hopper Santa on Amazon?
No no death, it was zero blood and my Christians
talked about it.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I don't remember this Santa kills everybody?
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Yeah, I Talkeda is played by Hopper from Stranger Things.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
I remember Jingle Jangle you did talk about that is
a classic for us and it's violent nights.
Speaker 5 (38:49):
Oh yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Know, I don't know what.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
I didn't know what I got into.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
It's not an every year wee it was. It was fun.
I enjoyed the different.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I won't know, blood.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
Jingle Jangle and eight Big Christmas, A Big Christmas is
it is a real fun it's funny. I like a
funny kid ensemble. Oh and so they're trying to get
this gift to set it said in the nineties Christmas. Yeah,
I think it's on Max or came a couple years ago.
But yeah, it's funny and good humor, and they're trying
(39:26):
to get this game. And so they've got to, you know,
all the things Christmas cheer vibe. So okay, AnyWho those
are two for me.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Can you can any of y'all update me on you're saying,
like a newer I don't have enough news. I just
need a funny one, the funniest of the kids. You
want just adults, preferably adults.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
I have no children.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
I honestly don't I get it.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
My heart. My heart isn't open the way yours is.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
There's no adult Christmas movie has come out and.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
It's time, like the yeah, the last like riff on
a adult humor that I've heard of.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
What I would say is go back through Christmas episodes
of shows compile that. That's what I do. I'll do
that occasionally.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Okay, I do want to ask you.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Hey, you put so much effort into the amount of
effort that you have to do in order to like
be like, let's let's create a master episode of Christmas
episodes of TV shows. So Seinfeld's Christmas episode, this episode, this,
and for you to go like, build this show, run
this compilation of Dude, we can't get social clips out
(40:30):
and I'm myself first of like, I can't clip out
things for YouTube, So I'm not sitting here saying but like,
I also don't have the time to even think about
let me go pull Christmas episodes from famous TV shows. Bro,
you how much time are fascinating?
Speaker 1 (40:46):
How much sign does it take to go I'm feeling Christmas?
Y Oh? Community season one and two both have Christmas episodes.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
More more more effort than it takes to clip out
this show's social media.
Speaker 6 (41:00):
Clip A lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
He doesn't.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
I'm not compliment you.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Should be complimenting yourself. Let's talk Joel, you.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
Got I'm saying that you got it easy.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Yeah, I think everybody should comp.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
You said it for success. Me and Nate fail on
a week.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
I had this conversation with my wife the other day
because she did not have this in her life growing up.
Did y'all have the Ranking and Bass cartoons growing up?
Speaker 2 (41:26):
I have no idea what's talking about.
Speaker 5 (41:28):
I think you live the same thing everybody that I've
never heard of.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Rudolph Santa Claus can clear Snowman the half hour.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
But even if we know that is what you know?
That official.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
It's the logo that.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Goes said the claimation said the like the I would
have been on.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Frosty is a cartoon. He's not claimations they did.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Yes, yes, yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
I don't like those. I was my pops.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
I can get on. I can get this is one
of the kids ones that I just got my kids
into this year because.
Speaker 5 (42:09):
For your age group.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
Yeah, it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
For give me every version, Give me every version of
Charlie Brown, though, bro, every version of Christmas, every version of.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
It was probably three years ago.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Charlie Brown seasonal thing.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Three years ago I saw for the first time.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
All Right, So Charlie.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
Brown, Halloween, Thanksgiving, nothing, all right, I don't have ever
seen anything of Charlie Brown.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
So Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown a.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
TV show real quick?
Speaker 6 (42:34):
Do you know who Charlie Brown is?
Speaker 4 (42:36):
That the question was the best friend.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
I even heard the.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Charlie Brown is not.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Yeah, I even heard the new version of it on
Apple TV is very good about like Franklin Franklin Get
the cook in the new show.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
So Charlie Brown to me is like muppy babies in
a sense, like there's a lot of pop cultural characters. Visually,
I know where it's from, but I couldn't tell you.
I know the name, I know the blanket and stink.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
If I may, right, if I may, please, you put
it in category with that muppet nonsense, please remb.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
I said, babies, not Christmas muppets growing up.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Yeah, I've never I've never seen Charlie Brown Thanksgiving or
Pumpkin thing. What was it?
Speaker 3 (43:17):
It was?
Speaker 4 (43:17):
Hey, this time of the year, it's on TV.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
I do need to watch great like Charlie Rond Christmas
as that was one of the things that we will
definitely make sure it was that in like the greats, Like, yeah,
it was.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
It's probably like twenty two years built for.
Speaker 6 (43:32):
Also, it already happened this year. But I will study
the Earl every year here in Atlanta. If you go
to the Eastland Village the Earl, they do Charlie Ron
Christmas where they will they have like a band play
all the music live and they play play in the background.
It started as like a one show, one showing. Now
it's like Friday, Saturday, Sunday, great time. Everyone's dressed up.
(43:56):
If you guys are ever, I think it's usually about
mid December, if you're ever Atlanta, like that is a staple,
go to Christmas Christmas.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
This is the first year I will say to every
time we wanted to watch a movie, we just bought
the physical copy of it. Now so now I have
I'm building. I'm building a whole Christmas DVD.
Speaker 4 (44:15):
Yeah, bring DVD's back.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Honestly, you talked about the commentary and the blos, but
also we don't we don't need to, we don't need
to follow.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
This the Christmas episode. Can we just talk about the
fact that we didn't hit Michael Pennox last week.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
I just wanted Oh well, that's because we wanted to
wait until he beat the giants Sunday and put up
those incredible numbers that we all saw.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Yeah, that was that so much fun. Christmas gift to
the city.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
All falcons are Back when I was building this, how
I was thinking because I was flying flying last night
when I was adding topics and we're talking about how
do you do Christmas shopping online? Going? So can I
just say say it? I wish we could bring back
the sky Mall. Come on, bro? That literally, how.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
I've never heard anybody call it the sky mall.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
What do you what have you heard people call it?
Speaker 1 (45:06):
Was it sky Mall? But that was like that puts
so much levity to it. That's amazing, Bro.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Literally is the most fun flipped through like gadget things
that I never wanted, but now it was gadgets.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
We weren't allowed to go in that store. The Malla.
Georgia had a sky Mall store, and we weren't allowed
in there because my mom was like, you're gonna break
something because they had stuff out there was like lava lamps,
massage chairs, all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Bad stopped me from clumsy. I'm saying, how clumsy of
like I've never you've seen me.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Now and this is the better version.
Speaker 1 (45:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (45:40):
I do wish the reasoning though, when your mom would
just like, you can't go in that store.
Speaker 5 (45:44):
That's for the sky we do not.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
That's what I'm scared of.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Literally, that was literally the read while we like waited
for the plane to leave. What is the version now
they don't have all?
Speaker 1 (46:00):
Right, gosh, I hate do it. It's called sky Mall
because they gave you the catalog in the airplane.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Yeah, I thought it was just he never flew.
Speaker 5 (46:15):
I only knew it as as a futuristic, fistic building.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
I thought it was sky Mall because it was like
the Jetsons, like it's floating in the sky, like we
got dipping do.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Yo.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
There's a robot for of KB toys that doesn't flip
if you wait long enough.
Speaker 4 (46:40):
KB Toys.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
I really had no idea.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
We learned a lot.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
Because it was all like.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Silver and futurist.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
You lived. You should be study a very singular life.
You're the only one who's lived this.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
Like everything that he's says, I'm like, whether the car
knowing the name of the Claymation or the first song
you threw out, or this moment right here, I just
want everyone to realize like I am quintessential white and
there's lots of bad things that come with that. Nate,
do not do not convolude the situation between stereotype and alien,
because it is.
Speaker 4 (47:18):
I love how Dan. At every corner of this podcast
when Nate does all, he's like, I am not that.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
Is that.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Education.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
I just love how Dan. I am not that. I
don't know what that is. That's not me. I got
nothing to do with that.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
I can't be the first person that you've ever seen
the Skymall catalog.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
You're always the first person.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
I literally texted my entire team last night, was like,
can we please just launch an Instagram handle that like
spoof sky Mall and just run it for a year
and like watch what happens, and and like literally they're
like forty people are like yes, this is the best.
Not one person was like that silvery Mall store that
(48:03):
I used to.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
Like, I know Skymall, I remember what they sell and everything.
I just never remember it being a catalog.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
This is I'm flabbergasted.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
I really thought it was just so yeah, it's next
to Dillard's.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
That's okay, but damon, let's go because I think you
did throw out how do you shop?
Speaker 5 (48:21):
Is it in person or so I've been having this conversation.
Long story short, I am all in on in store,
have always been that way, and I had to reaffirm
myself in the air that we live in with online
shopping because Katoya is all online shopping. I just found
out my brother, my middle brother, he's all online shopping.
And to me, growing up as a kid, not gonna
(48:42):
get too much into it. There was something I think
Toys of Russ, you know, the stories, get into the
nostalgia but present tense piece of it as a father
because we have moments in bonding, et cetera. But I
also maybe it's my statue, whatever it is, touching, filling
walking around being a present. Maybe it'scause my phones down.
Maybe it's all the things in the crock pot. I
(49:03):
enjoyed that experience, especially in this moment here in this
time of the year. So in conclusion, I am if
I'm choosing, like yo, I got we gotta go grocery shopping.
I got it, I got it. I'm get my AirPods,
I'm put my boom on, and I'm walking around listening
to this episode grabbing things off the shelf waiting in line.
Ha ha ha, a little small talk with the cashier.
It's something I have affirmed at thirty Air, like, yeah,
(49:25):
I'm all in on that.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
I think it's coming back. I think I think that
in person is coming back.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Do you so?
Speaker 5 (49:32):
Do you?
Speaker 2 (49:32):
And Katoya like get you know, I guess you're at
a hot spot where like the kids can chill and
you guys can leave, But do you guys go shop
for the kids? Like y'all hang, we're about to go
leave for a couple hours, knock out some crystal shopping.
Speaker 5 (49:46):
Yes, and no, we do online shopping. We very clear.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
We got some some nikes coming to the house and
such and such. But there is an element like I'll
take the kids because I want there's a balance. I'll
take the girls, We'll go shop for mission and mom
cool right, then I'll take miss we go go shop
for the girls.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
I want that balance. I want them to be able
to life skills without getting too much into it, how
to navigate people's skills and ask for help. Yeah, walk
through an aisle, you know what I'm that's where we are.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
Online. I So we did a bit of a hybrid
this year.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
I like.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
I understand the convenience of when it's online, it's in
stock and you can select exactly what you want. I
get that, but there is something to the relief of
when it's in person and when you get it, it's done,
The purchase is in your hand, it's done.
Speaker 6 (50:36):
Home.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Yeah, you don't have to worry about it if it's
going to get here on time. Like we have some
stuff coming in that we had to ship to my
sister's house because we're going to be out of town
by the time it comes in if it comes in
before Christmas. So like those logistics. It's just I have
avoided it because of the crowds, but now that the
crowds have dipped, I have ventured back out and it's
(51:00):
it's great. Like shopping in person is very nice, and
it's nice to knock it all out because you can
do it in a day and then you're done. Dave's out.
Speaker 4 (51:11):
I want to burn down every mall in America.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
I saw it in your soul. You and my wife
are so similar. It's staggery.
Speaker 4 (51:18):
I want to burn down everyone. I don't want to
be there. I don't want to be.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Around all the people running around don't even know who
they're shopping for. Hey, man, I'd be like, look, sime
a links. That's what I tell people. Send me your links,
my sister, pee pee pee.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
Simmy links. I'm like, all right, we're gonna get a
couple of these, my brother, bet my mom. Send me
the links.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
It'll come to the house. You'll be able to get it.
If it come a little late. Hey, it'll come a
little late. I'm not I'm not running around through I'm
not trying to push over some grandmother trying to buy
her grandson.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
That's three sixty This is the mindset three sixty five.
Speaker 4 (51:47):
I will burn down every moment.
Speaker 1 (51:51):
I feel like that's a two thousand and five situation
walking into them all in twenty twenty four. You're not
fighting Grandma's for a tickle me out?
Speaker 4 (52:00):
Why am I there? If it comes to me, car Bro?
Why am I there?
Speaker 3 (52:05):
Why am I if he can come to me exactly
me either? Why would I want to be somewhere?
Speaker 4 (52:09):
No? What's at somebody trying to shove stuff? A sweet
sound chicken in my mouth.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
I don't want to be here. I hadn't thought about.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
And then there's some sixteen year old running around trying
to get me, get me out of here. I don't
want to be here.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
Also, if I'm being real, if I'm going to amorrow
place for shopping, let's say for myself, man, first thing
I do when I go to because usually a shoe store.
I go in there and say, hey, what y'all got?
In sage fourteen, they say we don't got nothing? Why
am I here? I could have just ordered online? And
then it came to my mouth like there's certain places
I go there's nothing there for me. So I'm like,
I'm looking around at bad and body works.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
What am I doing here? Sit into the crib. Some
people are are social. I can be social any other time.
I don't need.
Speaker 5 (52:57):
The market is valid.
Speaker 4 (52:59):
I'm not saying it to the house.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
Burn down every mom, make them bigger and better, libraries,
repurpose apartments, apartments I had walking out.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
No, So here's the like I, if I had the time,
I would be in your camp where I would be
like I like, I prefer to shop in person. I
prefer to be like I'm thinking about this person one
I hate links. Do not tell me what you want?
Do not like like I'm good enough at this game
that like I will find something that you that like
(53:32):
I noticed about you say like exactly, I'm I'm in
my best version of me, Like I've kept track of
those things and we we're gonna go shop in the
stage of life that I'm in, which I literally looked
at Alison the other day and I'm like, if I
had known that there was gonna feel like this, I
would not have walked down this road. But it is out.
(53:54):
And so Allison is the get it done, check the
box version of the gift giving, which it's not her
favorite thing, but she will get it done. And so
she is are like saying to giver and like transparently
this year, Alison I looked at each other. We we're
just like we good, we.
Speaker 5 (54:10):
Good perfect, Like I love that conversation in a relationship.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
Yeah, Like she looked at me last night she was like,
we're real good. I was like, have you seen my
life the last six months? Like I don't know, I
have not had time to like wink wink, no, Like
you don't have to give me anything, but I got
you something like nah, I have nothing, I've got nothing.
Speaker 5 (54:29):
We're gonna be on this on a ship in a
couple of days. We go yeah, how much? Cause I
know David. I'm not saying y'all aren't. But David historically
known in the podcast be a great gift giver, thoughtful
gift giver. How much? I want to be clear of
what you said and ask this questions you're read to
wrap up of when you say I don't like links
and don't tell me what to get. Is it like, hey,
(54:50):
here's my list of twelve things and then I got it?
Or you're like, don't even give me a list. You
know what I'm saying the fine line, you.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
Can give me your list. That might that might give
me like some data points. Sure, but I'm not buying anything.
Speaker 5 (55:01):
On your Hey buy me these shoes size.
Speaker 4 (55:03):
Seven in red, buying yourself. Got it?
Speaker 5 (55:05):
Got it? I'm with you on that camp personally, Like
I'm also on the camp of like our kids eighteen,
eighteen and fourteen, eight ten and fourteen and man and
at the top of their list because they have different
categories and tears, which is great. We give it to
the grandparents and the Google lah blah blah blah. They
had gift cards and I was like, yo, cool, it's
helpful as easy, I say, just make sure you know,
(55:27):
gift cars is going to be one of the smaller
things of your categories on your list. Right to me
personal preference there is for gift giving, which is not
a strong suit of mind. As I've said before, I'm
not just I just hey here's the cash. Hey, here's
just a gift card. There's a sense of to me love, care, thoughtfulness, intentionality, gifts. Absolutely,
(55:48):
you know what I'm saying, birthdays, anniversaries, whatever. Right was like, hey,
happy birthday, grandson, two hundred bucks. Like you know what
I'm saying, take the tree down, broke. I'm like I
would be like you take the tree down, throw it away,
send it in my venmo.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
So let me.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
Let me explain the links. I'm pro links, but I'm saying,
here's the thing. I didn't want to be this, So
I'm talking about my immediate family. This is for my
immediate fam mom, dad, brother's sister.
Speaker 4 (56:12):
Right, got to have links. Here's why my sister she's particular,
and you could I could think of a thing and
maybe it's good.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Like for instance, I remember I bought her membership to
the High right for she's an artist. She went to
the High one time, said get you off I'm not
doing that no more.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
I tried.
Speaker 3 (56:30):
I knew that was thoughtful. I knew that was getting
you know, he was the embashy out here. My dad
loves music. We bought him some sort of like great,
don't even it's still in a box. Never never give
you nothing.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
Want my mom She's like, I don't want anything. I
don't know my mom.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
You could just buy her liter if I bought her
box of turtles. She said, this is all I ever wanted,
which I know is not true. So I'm like, I'm
not even trying. I can buy you anything. My brother,
who speak, who knows, so I'm like, if he gives
me a link, thank god, I know. So for the
meeting family, the links make the most sense. They make
sense now outside if I know you whatever, I'm like,
all right, I heard you say this.
Speaker 4 (57:07):
I think that. But for me, it's got to be links,
otherwise it's gonna be no gifts.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
One thing that bugs me too is when people ask
for things they could get.
Speaker 5 (57:15):
You do have that fine line, Like so my father
in law.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Asked on his Christmas list, was part of it was
coffee and socks, And I'm like, dude, go get that.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
No, you don't let me. Can I speak for the
people like that because I'm starting to be like this.
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Because I want to understand, because I'm like, okay, understanding.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
I like, I'm probably my dad. I probably buy my
dad's some coffee, right, and it's coffee. I'm sure you
could get just gonna be.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
Some portray coffee popular listens. But here's the thing. Coffee,
great coffee.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Here's why A lot of times I think, at least
for myself, because I've started to becoming like this, I
could get it for myself for whatever, I just don't
do it. Sometimes I don't treat myself to the things
that I could get, and so it's a lot of
times it's like myself, Yeah, because if it socks, like
I have socks at the home at home, and you'll
always have socks at home. But if somebody like, oh
now I have extra socks.
Speaker 5 (58:01):
I want to also add to this thing here because
I'm not in that camp. But I understand the camp
having people my family. I think some people maybe not
in your family, want to give you an opportunity to
love on them and to care for them.
Speaker 2 (58:13):
Yep, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (58:13):
Like there's a like like I can. I can do
all these things by myself. I am sign A three
sixty five. This is a time where people love and care.
Here's some things that you can love and care for
me on.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
I think that the coffee socks thing in the world
of like this is what I want. I think it is.
It is the opportunity to go find like the best
socks that they would never buy. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (58:36):
Or is the coffee that like it is like okay,
you know the coffee that is hard to It's not
just target. It is right here.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
You're going to enjoy this. I thought about you.
Speaker 5 (58:46):
That's another level up and it's like it's it's where
like you take the link and you're like, okay, cool,
I get that.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
The I get the there's a need here. You want
to go like that these are your favorite socks. Yeah,
that's the goal of the gift. He's now the first
rotational socks.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
I rock with that. What you got over there?
Speaker 1 (59:06):
You say, no, I tried that with socks and Libby
was like, he's not gonna he just wants these.
Speaker 4 (59:12):
Do it anyway, Like I I tried, how I feel
do it anyway?
Speaker 1 (59:17):
Seven.
Speaker 6 (59:18):
You don't do that? What you don't do what Dan's
talking about. For seve year olds, you get them exactly.
You get that they're brand They're not trying to change
a thing in their life, and there will.
Speaker 5 (59:25):
Be and I would one hundred do it.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
Still still do it? Ye still do my my, I'm
not gonna say who was No, I don't think. I
think there's both right. You can't go wrong, he can't
go wrong.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
But also if he puts on those socks and was like, oh,
because because when you get older, you do kind of
got I'm stuck in my waist.
Speaker 4 (59:43):
And sometimes the ways ain't necessarily what they should be.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Here's my pet peeve with presidents in Allison's family does
this literally with every like every present that is open,
as it's opened, if you don't like it, you can
return it. It comes out of their mouths. I'm on
the same which is what don't apologize. Don't apologize. If
they don't like it, they'll know what to do. Don't
know what to do, but like, you should have put
(01:00:07):
enough thought into this that you don't need to apologize.
Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
I love it, though the Lord love it to go
and love the repentant sinner, because I am going to
return this right to your face.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
We ain't gotta set and I think there's a need,
you know, you want to give it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
The President said thank you for giving me this.
Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
If an adult said that to one of my kids,
I would be I would be quite upset to that.
Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
Return it because like how they can't I got to
do it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
But also like let's just be in this moment of
gratitude and here I think it is a balance. I love,
I love talking preferences.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
I want to want. I want to give space for
people who like this was bad.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
We can't.
Speaker 5 (01:00:50):
Let's talk about that at lunch and laugh at and
joy for me. But in this moment, you want to
make an example of this is bad.
Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
This socks with two packs.
Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
Do it at my house on my face.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Listen your god.
Speaker 3 (01:01:06):
You know people are for the people who are absolutely
trash and given at given gifts and they do something
it's truly trash.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
Nah, put them in front of everybody. But you are
bad to me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
It's the intentionality if they're a bad gift giver, but
they're not trying to be Oh yeah, for sure, I'm
not going to be like this sucks, thanks you now.
Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
But if you just threw it out and I'm like, nah,
we about to expose.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
You as an ally, And I'm just saying, but I
know these people, That's what I'm saying, and I'm like,
expose them. I supposed to expose your grandparents, your aunties
and get a bad gift. Let them know, man, take
that back. They don'tbody want that thing that was Marshals
that fell off the side. You know, Oh that looks cute.
Maybe I'll give it to my grandson.
Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Get them out of here.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
When you give a list, if somebody asks you for
a list, what is the spectrum of gifts that you
put on that list?
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
Who is just like just a friend?
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):

how how big? And how big are you?

I'm saying straight up, like a lot of things that
I could get I'm not because I'm not finna One
on a money level, not gonna just do that personally.
And then two because of how I feel about gifts
as a receiver. Uh is low on myp totem pole personally.
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
So like, yeah, I don't. I don't really give a
list to people because I'm just like, honestly part of
me ask you for Like I don't worry about it.
That's what I'll say.
Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
