This week on The Final Word, Frangela is here to break down the madness with the clarity, sass, and side-eye you need to survive this hostile government takeover.
First off—yes, the U.S. government is closed. Trump and the GOP refused to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, and Democrats finally said “enough.” We unpack what a shutdown really means, what it could mean, and what Trump wants it to mean (spoiler: it’s not good).
Then, in a move that’s as petty as it is unethical, the Trump administration directed federal employees to blame Democrats for the shutdown—using taxpayer-funded websites. That’s your money being used to gaslight you. Cute.
Meanwhile, the job market took a nosedive: 32,000 jobs cut in September, and August’s “gain” of 54,000 was revised to a loss of 3,000. We’re calling it what it is—economic whiplash with a side of spin.
Next, Trump signed an executive order pledging a U.S. security guarantee to Qatar after Israel’s strike in Doha targeting Hamas leaders. International diplomacy or is this the price of that plane? We’ve got thoughts.
And then there’s Secretary of Crazy/Defense/War Pete Hegseth, who gathered hundreds of top military leaders just to body shame, threaten, and bore them into oblivion. It’s giving insecure middle school bully with a budget.
Finally, we take on the soulless participation of U.S. comedians in the inaugural Riyadh Comedy Festival—funded by the Saudi government. We love comedy, but not when it’s bought and sanitized by authoritarian regimes.
Frances and Angela are bringing the truth, the fire, and the final word—because when the government’s closed and the circus is in town, somebody’s gotta keep the lights on.

Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
