I met today's guest in my very first kundalini yoga teacher training and we've continued taking trainings from Guru Singh in Seattle for the last couple of years - and I wanted to have her on as a teacher but also as an example of someone who moved through serious addiction to drugs and alcohol and on the other side - is more real and more uniquely herself than she'd ever been before.
In this conversation we talked about addictions, coping tools and distractions and how they work until they don't. And when it becomes obvious that these things aren't working the way they used to, it means we're ready to start seeing what's underneath those behaviors.
Kalei herself is 15 years sober and she'll tell us her story about what it took to create a life that didn't need drugs and alcohol, how kundalini yoga came into the picture, and what she's doing now as a teacher and a creative, growing human being!
