Bajo la presión del gobierno de Estados Unidos, la Unión Europea plantea de manera urgente elevar el gasto en defensa. Ahora bien, algunos países son partidarios de que ese gasto tiene que ser colectivo y otros países creen que cada país miembro debe aumentar su gasto en defensa hasta un determinado porcentaje del producto interior Bruto. En España, y según diferentes sondeos, la mayoría de la población prefiere aumentar el presupuesto en educación y en investigación antes que en defensa.
Esta semana hablamos del aumento de gasto en defensa con Miguel Rodríguez Artacho, profesor de la Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Informática de la UNED, coordinador del Máster Los Retos de la Paz, la Seguridad y la Defensa, trabaja en el Instituto Universitario General Gutiérrez Mellado. César Ramos, director general de la Asociación Española de Empresas Tecnológicas de Defensa, Seguridad, Aeronáutica y Espacio (TEDAE). Y Fernando Ibáñez, doctor en Conflictos y Seguridad, profesor del Máster de Seguridad, Defensa y Geoestrategia de la UDIMA, analista de las carencias en equipamiento militar.
