Speaker 1 (00:26):
It's the Internet. You're busy, Let's do this. Welcome to
the Game Mesticides podcast. This is the podcast where we
decide everything about the world of games, so you never
have to think for yourself. I'm your host, Jeff grubin
whit me is Mike manaughty, and tonight's episode Wolverine is
looking good, Hades rules and Mike needs to apologize to Christian.
(00:46):
I didn't run this, write this rundown, but I feel
that way. My understanding is you once again, uh you know,
pointed fingers for the entrance sound on Discord. Is that
what happened and not.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
All I'm saying is that I never set it myself.
The fact that it says something about semen every time
I enter the Giant Bump Discord server and Christian is
assistant that I'm the only one who could have set
that for myself. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I'm not insistent. That's just the fuck motherfucker you n
I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I'm not this Discord about this.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
But he's Latino.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
First of all, you always say the same ship. We
already explain you a couple of times, and you keep
saying that.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Somebody else did it.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
When clearly your fast figuring up all over Discord and.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Then excuse me, Christian, I'm trying to read some dialogue
in Hades two right now.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Oh yeah, okay, all right, hey pipe pipe down, you two.
All right, Well, we can't have the fighting starting right away.
We have to explain what's going on here for audio listeners.
If it feels like there's a weird energy, it's because
there is. Mike's plaining a video game. I am all
for it. I think this is fun. He is planning
to play Hades two through the night. He started at
(01:58):
like five pm Eastern time. It is nine now, and
he's gonna play while we're doing the podcast here because
he just started playing because it's a launch day and
wants to show the game up. How's it going so far.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Mike, It's a pretty good video game that it turns out. Yeah,
looks gorgeous, tons of fun, very familiar, but just all
the little differences here and there are super neat so far.
I'm on run number We check six each time, making
a little bit more progress. I made it to the
boss of the third main area. It was doing okay,
(02:29):
just wasn't dealing very much damage and eventually just made
enough mistakes over time that I got taken out, But
I'm ready to get back in there.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Well, I'm excited. This is fun. I'm gonna do my
best not to get lost in this list. I think
you're gonna be better at talking a whoile playing the
game than I will be at watching you play and talking,
and I'm fine with that. Let's let's just get into
the show. Let's get started. Thank you everybody for joining us.

of the week, let's get right into it. There was
that state of play yesterday, Mike, What were you what
were your feelings about? Obviously, the big news was Marvel's
Wolverine got a big new trailer release date of Fall
(04:04):
twenty twenty six. Sarah's looked really promising. That's out March twentieth.
Campaign trailer for Battlefield six Neo three has an official
release date February sixth. A couple other things that chronoscript
game game looked pretty good. How did you feel about
the state of play overall?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
Though?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
It was pretty good overall, Jeff. You know, I think
it was smart to start with Sorrows and with Wolverine.
You know, we were saying before, Sure, it would be
nice to actually finally see some more of Wolverine at
this point. Yes, absolutely, it's good to see that. You know,
they're clearly already positioning it as their big game of
twenty twenty six. Get you know you're gonna start Soros
(04:41):
with that probably almost end with Wolverine. Will remybe coming
out very similarly to this spot we have for Gusta
Yote right now. You know, there's some stuff that's in
the middle that you know, they don't set the whole
back so that they do have things to announce at
future events. So that's maybe why we didn't see like
that God of War sure think five D game or
other things like that, or like.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
An update on Marathon, right that's gonna happen at another
thing like that's that game's coming out supposedly by March,
and they didn't even show anything more from Marathon. That'll
probably happen in December instead or something like that. So yeah,
these how these shows get planned exactly, I don't know.
Even when I do get insights into it still feels
like a mystery to me. But yeah, I was pleasantly
(05:24):
surprised with the show. I think. Dan mentioned that he
felt it was book ended with Saro so up Top
and then in the end with Wolverine, and those were
definitely the strongest games in there, but there were there
were some fun stuff like, for example, Sonic Racing Crossworlds
finally showed off what Mega Man and Proto Man are
gonna look like. You were pretty excited about that.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I was. You know, we knew Mega Man was coming,
you know, I just wanted to see what that was
going to look like. And you know, it turns out
looks really cool seeing Mega Man in one of these games.
Wasn't expecting Proto Man though. And I actually like Proto
Man a lot. It's kind of just a childhood thing
for some reason. As a kid, I thought Proto Man
was super duper cool, just weird, mysterious brother guy who
(06:03):
shows up sometimes and I don't know, I just like
his weird desire of his shield and his visor visors
are great.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Jeff's advisors are good.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, something I've seen proto maybe the other one in there,
made me super excited.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah. In the NHL, Ovechkin, who's the top goal scorer
right now, he used to wear one of those visors
and not just the hockey visor that was see through.
It had like the reflective plastic on it, so you
couldn't see his eyes, and he looked fucking cool. He
looks so cool. But then goalies complained that they couldn't
see his eyes and it was an unfair advantage, and
(06:37):
it wasn't. He's just that good at scoring goals, so
he's not allowed to wear that anymore. And I've always
been mad at goalies ever since because he just looked
like a cyborg out there, and I really appreciate it.
He looked like proto man.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, it's bad.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
There was some you know, maybe a few oddities or surprises.
Let's say this one's not an oddity anymore. Microsoft Flight
Simulator twenty twenty four showing up in a state of play.
You know, those games are coming to PlayStation. I guess
it's maybe a little strange to see Microsoft games actually
in the state of play, because you know, they have
to have like close conversations and make arrangements for that stuff.
(07:13):
And that's how far along we are and the console
war being over. Is Microsoft games just popping up regularly
in a state of play, and it's just as normal
as the sun rising in the morning.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah, absolutely so all sorts of weird stuff there. H
One I keep trying to think about, is honestly DAA
Sexy remastered. I'm just trying to make I can't tell
with the meg of it should be excited that the
remastering DAYA Sex or should be hard to cautious because
it's a spire. They're a little spotty, and I it
looks like when I watched that triil it's like they
(07:44):
took a two thousand game and upgraded the graphics to
be a two thousand and three game. And I guess
I don't even understand what the point is at that point.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Just like right, it looks like like you know those
filters they put on pixel Art games to kind of
smudge the pixels together. It looks a little bit like that.
It looks like a super Eagle FX to filter put
on DAYO Sex. But I don't know. Maybe we get
to play it, maybe we see it in action, we
feel differently, Mike, But I'm with you that it like
(08:12):
I just can't put my finger on the pulse of
that particular project and know exactly what they're going for there,
And who knows, maybe the Diosex Super fans looked at
that trailer and we're like, oh my god, they did
this and this or that. I doubt it, but maybe
there's a chance I'm just missing something there. Grand Trismo
seven another slightly weird one, Mike. I you know, when
I was doing Games Mornings, I did like look into
(08:34):
it to be like, what is happening here? I threw
it in the rundown. The updates really about F one cars.
They're adding F one tracks I think in F one cars,
So that's that's something for those fans. But I think
we were expecting them to say and it's coming to
PC as well, but they none of that happened. There
were no PC ports. Now, maybe a State of Play
is not the place for PC ports, but I don't
think it's not not the place for PC ports. It's
(08:57):
it's the kind of thing where it's like, okay, well
even that's not coming to PC yet. Maybe they are
slowing down on that thing. I don't know, Mike, do
you kind of get that sense still?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's like maybe it's just a law, But it's a
little strange that there was you know, like when was
the last one. It feels like it's just been a minute,
and there's not a lot of enthusias. We have seen
some of them kind of like not really do super
amazingly when they come out on PC. What other ones
have done? Okay, I feel like Grand Tourisma would find
a PC audience pretty well.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeap, Yeah, I think I think I could do very
well on PC. Yeah, there's there's probably a lot of
Siico car racing games fans that would be like, oh,
I guess this Grand Arismo game. Finally I can try it.
I would even probably try it on a PC, and
I've not tried it on PS five, even though I
think I might have it. Let's see huge the woke god?
(09:48):
Oh no, turn it off.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
It's how I can't believe they put a fictional character
on a wheelchair.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
The mine virus is gonna get you, Mike, turn it off.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I shouldn't be playing. This is evil stuff? Oh what epic?
An epic boom though your specials? Oh that's fine?
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Okay, Maybe maybe woke is okay?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Maybe wow? Could woke be good all along?
Speaker 5 (10:14):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
And then let it die? Inferno is another weird surprise thing? Uh?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Is I remember? I think I had to let it die?
Appointment at like one of the East Frees I went
to back in the day. Yeah, like, uh was it?
It wasn't it Suda?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah? It was it was Suda.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
It was a Suda like free to play online game
that was like run based roguelike ish uh and now
this one like too yeah yeah, so a little bit
of souls like right, I think there was Corpse Runs.
I think I can't remember exactly. Mike only played it
a handful of times. I do remember them talking about
it on a podcast I think it was called the
(10:51):
Giant Bomb Cast, and I was I always got a
tickle when they started talking about Uncle Death, was like,
I should check this thing out. Uh, And then yeah,
I only played it a couple of times. So it's
at this point it's almost just like a curiosity that
this thing that I saw. I was like reading other
rundowns of the state of play. I was listening to
other podcasts, listening to other news YouTubers or yeah and
(11:14):
things like that, and they would they would get to
let It Die Inferno, and almost none of them mentioned
that this is a follow up to a previous game,
because I think most people just don't remember that game,
So I don't know it's just weird that it exists.
I'm not against it. I kind of love it. Yeah
it's Grasshopper. Thank you, Brad Lynch.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Appreciate it, Okay, Grasshopper. Yeah, I remember that. I would
get press leases every now and they're like, hey, there's
fifteen million players for Let It Die, and I'd be like, really, okay,
good for you. I guess it's mister Death or whatever.
Is that just suit of fifty one wearing a mask?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I don't know, Like I think, I don't know if
Suita is involved with this one. They would have said that,
I think. And again it was Grasshopper, not necessarily Suita himself.
Although Suita was at Grasshopper, I'm sure. I'm sure he
was involved to a certain extent, but I don't think
he claimed it as one of his own necessarily.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Yeah, there were some speakers. There was a God of
War controller. We talked about that God of War yep.
I mean, you know, that was the controller for the
twentieth anniversary. We didn't even get like a collection of
the first two or three games either, which you know,
I guess a God of War three like that was
(12:25):
that PS? Was that also a PS two or.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Three game that got a was a PS three game,
and it got a remaster on PS four.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Actually, okay, so it has a remaster, so they could
bundle that together with one and two if they wanted to.
But maybe they just do one and two and then
just re release that remaster because they still have not
done any PS three emulation on PS five, I don't think,
or PS four, but I don't know. Now, I'm just
like kind of getting into the weeds of my own mind.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
There's so much PS three emulation of stuff that has
to get figured out in general here, Like we're all
expect Mental GEARSAWD four to be released at some point
in our lives.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah, right, exactly. It's like, you know, when it comes
to that, like Konami could run their own emulator, they
could come up with a bunch of other solutions, but
like a Sony System level emulator. You know, I heard
a while back that they were working on it, But
who knows what happens with these things. Sometimes they just
fizzle out, or they the plans get delayed for long term,
(13:20):
or they just yeah, never end up happening. Next thing
I have written down here is Hades two. The reviews
are in I don't know if you notice, Mike, they
think it's a good game.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Why I wish I could find out for myself.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I'm sorry, Bud, you got to do a podcast. It's
got a ninety two. It's got a ninety two, and
open critic people said a lot of nice things about it.
It just seems to be people are like, hey, they
refine the formula to such a degree that you can't
help but respect what they're doing here. And my I
played quite a bit of it so far, not a
ton and my stance early on here, Mike is they
(13:58):
have just made everything like streamlined, but robust and streamlined.
They just like filled out all aspects of it, made
it the best version of a roguelike with with a
lot of progression that that goes from run to run
to the point where it's like, even though this is
a game where when you die, you start the run over,
it would be kind of absurd for anyone to play
(14:20):
this game and say that it's wasting your time, because
it's just the furthest thing in the world is a
game that loves the player. It just wants you to
feel like you are getting shit done at every opportunity.
And yeah, I think they they've really thought about the
kind of game they're making and the feeling that they
want players to have. And then it just has just
a really good rhythm to it with the dash where
(14:43):
you know, you dash and you attack, and then there's
just that slight beat where you need to let it recharge.
The animation and everything that's happening around the way it
feels sort of just gets you in that rhythm of
like how like the beat permittent or attack permnt that
you should be doing. And yeah, it's very easy to
get on this game's wavelength. So I'm I'm gonna be
playing a lot more of this. Definitely one of the
(15:05):
games I'm going to try to uh, you know, complete,
so we could talk about it for Game of the Year.
I know you talked about a little bit up top,
but yeah the ninety two on Open Critic. Does that
sound right to you?
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah, I mean, you know, they're in a good position
here because they made such an amazing game with hades
and all the timer. Yeah, I'm glad that they did
just make another one kind of right away here, let's
see what we can do uh together here, Well, I'm
doing a rhythm game right now, I think or something.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
I yeah, you just kind of like you raised one
hand and raised the other, you kind of say. Simon
says with.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
The shows, Yeah, oh I got some I got some
good stuff, like you know this, this thing just showed up.
I got this one material is gonna help me get
more of these tarot cards that give me bonuses. The
first game was so good. This this is even better
where just after every run, you know, you're not just
getting like one little thing no that you think about
help the next one. You're getting so much and I
(16:01):
don't know how far to get into the game before
that feels like it slows down. But you know, but
playing I.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Bet it just just keeps on folding. There's new stuff
to unlock.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
I'm fifty hours in and just now he started to
slow down, like okay, yeah, I started to need to
do like multiple rounds to get one of the upgrades
and that type of stuff, mainly because it's a different
system that I have to wait or I do an
XT number round for it to like give me the
thing I need. So yeah, it's a long while until
like this stuff you have to start grinding for stuff.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
So it's truly good about that.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
So you're that's the special you're doing. You have an
upgraded spell. I see you got the loon on that
special attach there.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, North justin of now, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
You have to see the suits cast unless you aim
the cast not in your feet but like in an
enemy and it will immediately spawn.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Uh do you forget me? Not system?
Speaker 5 (16:54):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (16:54):
I know that other games have done this, but I
guess I don't necessarily. I can't think of a lot
of Ruguel likes that have, although I'm sure they, but
just being able to click the button and when I
go out there, it's like, no, yeah, you should go
to this door because it's going to have the resource
you need to do this thing. It's like, thank you game.
You understand that I'm not going to remember, and I'm
just actually because I usually just don't care enough to remember.
(17:16):
And then then I get Then I get back to
the to the to the town, and I'm like, oh,
I should have cared, I should have been paid attention,
and the game just does it for me, and I
think that's fantastic. So yeah, just really good stuff all around,
and then just feels fantastic.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
This game has a lot of that kind of stuff.
Where it also has you know how you have your relics.
It has a you can get an upgrade. They will
you can start around with a releg you want to start,
you know, like, oh, this really gives you a like shield,
but then you want to change to another one. So
it has a thing where the next zone it will
automatically change to like one of your favorite relics, so
(17:52):
you can. Yeah, it's just like keep going not have
to think about it. It's really good about that.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Christian. Did you play much in early access?
Speaker 4 (18:02):
I know I played like I played like ten hours,
fifteen hours something like that when it first came out,
and I just wasn't feeling.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
The dash was right. That's right right for me, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Just because I play a lot of Hadious one and
that the dash in Haiti one is like immediately all time.
This one is like you explained it earlier, you have
to wait for it. But it just didn't feel good.
Now it feels good because I think they give you
my more eye frames, so I would watching the game
is so hard to talk.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
I think they do a lot that gives you more
ie frames. I think they really did add some flourish
to the animation. I think they probably did some extra
sound design, just a bunch of things where they like,
they probably didn't change much about the actual mechanic, but
the way you feel about it, it's all kind of
been super refined. And now now it feels awesome. Now
(18:58):
it feels powerful and impactful, and you like, again, like
I said, you get in the rhythm of it. It's
like happening on this certain wavelength and you can just
hop on and start riding, and once you do, it's like, oh,
the whole game is designed around this dash, like all
the enemy encounters are designed around it, so you could
sort of ride it into any battle. And that's uh, yeah,
it's their Yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Yeah, I think they say they wanted her dash to
be more like a tactical thing, and then she was
a movement tool like the first one. Just dash is
shoes dash in the eighties, I never run, of course. Yeah,
so in this one you had to think about the dash,
which and it works. They nailed us, so yeah, give it.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Friend's great too, all right, And then let's see here,
there was an Xbox announcements at the Tokyo Game Show.
They had their their like stage presentation or whatever. They
announced a bunch of stuff age mythology. Heavenly speared. Call
of Duty Black Ops seven got showcased because there's multiple
air maps set in Japan. There was a lot of that.
There was a lot of Hey, this game has something
(19:56):
that involves Japan. Aren't you excited about that? Now has
worked before like that, you know, but it worked for
a game like Ghost of Sushima that was all about
Japan and like very in depth and not so much
a Call of Duty multiplayer level in Japan. But whatever.
You can't blame a company for trying, you know. They
Let's see, they showed off some more Ninja guide in
(20:17):
for the difficulty mode and how much fun that's going
to be. It looked really good. But the big thing
was forts a Horizon six is going to be in Japan.
They showed it off. It's coming out next year, and
I think this is Microsoft's, like, you know, the traditional
Microsoft's best game and best series, and this looks really,
(20:38):
really good. I'm looking forward to this coming out. How
you feeling about a new Forts of Horizon at this point, Mike, Yeah,
you know, I don't know if.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
I like Forts Raison quite as much as you do,
but I always enjoy them, and I think Japan is
just you know, it's an awesome setting. It's the reason
why everybody who's wanted it. Japan is a beautiful country.
They have a great car culture. I'm just really just
to see what they do with this kind of open
world carracing game formula in that location. I hope you know,
(21:07):
you know, we criticize the lower skate aka skate a
lot about this recently, you know that that tone thing.
It's not as bad on the Forts of Horizons, but
I do right want to see the revolution of that
as well. I don't want it to just be like
it's a festival and you're on social media.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
They wouldn't let you in Japan if that was your plan.
So yeah, yeah, you kind of hope that they that
they can change it up or they'll just have a
weird vibe to it.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Otherwise, I wanted to flo us on top of a gun.
Don goddamn it.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Well, they might still have flossing, they might have Gundams,
who knows. But yeah, that was their big announcement. You know,
there was other stuff like Bruce Lee is going to
help you kill people in Hitman World of Assassination. That's
a new free to play mission. I guess that looked fun.
I'll do that. Although you know, my opinion is if
you put a celebrity in that game, they should be
down with like you killing them. But I get the estate,
(21:59):
it wouldn't like that. Oh excuse me. And then, uh,
you know, there's been a bunch of other stuff at
Tokyo Game Show this week, but I don't know. We'll
catch up on the whole thing, probably next week once
we're on the other side of it, cause I'm sure
there will be a lot more announcements. Uh, but Mike,
that does it for the big things I want to
talk about. Uh, why don't we take a break, come
back and I'll read the super chat so you can
(22:19):
keep playing your game. That's sound good, appreciate it. Yeah,
no problem, We'll be right back. Everybody, all right, we
are back dinner twice.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Now I only see a resource I can mine after
I leave a floor.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Gosh darn it. Wait, that's another thing this game does great.
Like it like has that little like lightning bull that
comes off your character to show you a resource you
can mind.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yes, I have that. Somehow I don't notice that here.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
I was like, I would never would have noticed this
if they didn't do that. I've been thankful for the game,
but once again, being like, hey, buddy, we know you're
not going to see this. Just here you go, it's
right here, just look at it.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Kind of dope. I got it.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Sometimes where she's like, hey, there's something to mind there,
like Selene the Moon Lady.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, listen, you got those All those
gods will do a lot of stuff to you. Stand there,
all right, super chats. I'm gonna read him. Mike's gonna
keep playing the game, but don't worry, he's still involved.
Nathan Malone. He says, what long awaited game is next?
Up for a trailer? So Wolverine being the one that
I think Nathan is referring to. Here got its trailer
(23:27):
after being long awaited. What's next, Mike?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
I may we're gonna get a Fable trailer at some
point again here like a real gameplayee one That one again,
I mean is.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
That no can be with you. I forgot it existed.
I forgot Fable was even a thing. Yeah, I think
I think I've recently put a lot of Xbox in
the bucket of I'll care if they give me a
reason to care. I am not holding, like after Perfect Dark,
I'm not holding the torch for anything they're making. And
that's not like me saying I think all this stuff's
(23:58):
gonna get canceled. It's but it might. My stuff might
get canceled in the meantime. I'm just not going to
care about what they're doing until there's an obvious reason too.
But I guess that's a pretty good answer. Let's see
Kingdom Heart's four mic. Do you think that?
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Oh, that's actually a very big one. Yeah, it's been
a long time. I think that is actually maybe next
maybe we get my Game Awards, we see something on
that one.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I could see that, like that would be a really
big pop off for Keeley if you got that, that
would probably be a good trailer too, when people are
saying beyond Good and Evil too. Yeah, I mean if
that thing, I guess it would get another trailer before
it would actually come out for sure. But we'll see next.
Super chat from Slain mcausain. Nintendo just announced Bowser is
going to retire. What are your favorite Doug memories? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Oh yeah, did you see this? Doug Bowser's retired?
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I did, I did see that. I saw it when
someone tweeted so long Doug Bowser and I was like, okay,
that's pretty good. I yeah. My favorite Doug memories is
when we were at Packs Mike, I don't know were
you at this Packs? It was Packs West, Yeah, yes,
and we were like doing the Nintendo thing and we
came out. It was like me, Mike tam was it
(25:06):
Jan Lucy? I think it was that like that crew,
and we saw Doug Bowser and we couldn't tell, like
he knew who we were and like that we were
in Nintendo jail. But we differently stopped him and asked
him to take a picture with us, and he was
He was nice, He was very cud.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I saw a lot of fans want I want to
take pictures. Yeah, he seems like he seemed like a
pretty decent fellow. He was pretty relatively low key in
that room, not as far facing as a Reggie And
that's fine. It's just like how you know, Reggie left
the tunnel pretty shortly after the launch of the Switch one.
I believe you kind of you know, mission accomplished. There
a similar thing here. It seems like nothing strange about
his leaving except that to me it doesn't feel like
(25:42):
it was that long a since he joined, but I
guess I know, in probably seven years.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Yeah, I know, it doesn't feel that long. He still
feels like the new guy to me. Mike. Absolutely. When
you're doing your cast there the circle on the ground,
is it?
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Are you using the magic version?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Like?
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Do you have a fast fast version of that? Are
you just doing like the basic cast?
Speaker 2 (25:58):
That's a basic I just have an upgrade for it, right.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Okay, yes, that's yeah, like the where you could send
it out. Okay, very cool man, this is a cool game.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Simon from Saskatchewan, Jeff, I saw you drinking from an
espresso mug on Game Mess Mornings. Was that a GB mug?
If not, imagine how great it'd be to drink from
a GB espresso mug. Simon, you are talking about it.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I think I'm not gonna notice. It's because I'm playing
a video game that you're whining about mugs again.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
God, God, he thinks we can't sneak one over on him.
Everybody but go to a go to freaking bed bathroom.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
O wait, those are all close, probably because they lost
so much money selling mugs. Go to a target, buy
a stupid white mug get a red and black sharpie,
ride the letters GB on it, and then enjoy that
before it falls and breaks into a million pieces in
like a few days.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
God Simon from Saskatchewan says with monkey Bone game adaptation
mentioned on on BombCast, what's a movie from the past
that'd be fun to adapt into a video game?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (27:01):
One funny pick and one serious please? Okay, Schindler's List
would be the funny one.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Schindler's List as a one v one fighting.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Game, of course, just the girl, the girl in the
red jacket, just kicking everyone's ass.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
What the hell is this?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Sorry?
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Lot of the stars, I've unlocked a skill tree of
sometimes hell yeah, okay, cool, sure.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
Okay, my my serious one. We've been talking about it.
Twelve Monkeys. That would be a fun one. There's that
would be an interesting game. I don't know what I
would want it to be like. Maybe Disco Elysium. Actually,
that'd be a game that movie does feel a lot
like Disco Elysium already, and then a funny one. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
National Treasure.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
National Treasure is very good, I would like.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
To say, in the style of a big budget and
charted game, you get and everything.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
A hockey managed sim but it's mighty ducks that Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
It'd be pretty good. Actually yeah, uh.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Simon from Saskatchewan is back, it, says Mike. Your top
five alien species on Star Trek.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Oh, on Star Trek, Cardassians are number one, big Cardassian
guy like the but Jordans are also very good trail gosh,
chat me out. Who are those blue guys with the
kind of not Andrians? Mind you, the one of them
was a barber on Star Trek the next generation Brollians
or something like that. I like the Brollians quite at
(28:34):
the h The Frankie are real stupid and maybe problematic,
but I don't know they were goofy.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
They were it's a commentary on capitalism.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
It's all problematic something like that. Yeah, definitely like the
Cardassians a lot. Kleanaws were a little overplayed. The little
one like they're like Dwarf is good and some there
are some good klingon episodes, but sometimes it got to
be a little bit too much with them and all
their their one I do actually like Andrian's also quite
a bit. Yeah, they're very.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Good, dat boy, Jerry says, give me the six nominees
or Game of the Year again at the Game Awards,
and no one gets hurt any big plans for BombCast
nine to eleven in two weeks and reminds me, reminds
me of that tragedy and that's that boy Jerry's oh god,
oh listen, can we stop it? You get just crashed
into us. Let's see six nominees for Game of the Year.
(29:26):
What's the big deal? Okay, Claire upsc your Expedition thirty three,
Donkey Kong Bonanza, all right, then it's like, okay, probably
split fiction.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
I don't know, there's probably I mean, do you think
Hades to and soaksong Er, gimme's right now.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Yes, hay, okay, so yeah, Hades and Silk Song before
split fiction four? Yeah, that's okay. So that's five, and
then we have one more and from one more we
could pick, uh that could be split fiction, uh, death
Stranding two Kingdom Come Deliverance to to. I bet it'll
(30:05):
probably be death Stranding to.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Like, even though I think Sportfish is gonna kind of
miss the COG so early this year, I think even
though it's probably better than it takes too, it's like
that already won the Game Award. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Other possibilities, U, Silent hill f let's see anything. I
guess if Ninja Guide in four is just amazing, Metroid
Prime four, those are those are your other options there?
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Well?
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Met Prime form is probably going to make the timing
on it, right.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Oh, yeah, you're right. That won't make the timing. Okay, yeah,
Blueprints is not going to make the Game awards.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
No, unfortunately. I bet it might win like best Debut
Indie game, right, it will be eligible for that.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, that's good point. That might be.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
It's kind of best thing it'll be. It'll be pretty
high on mind still, Jeff, even after all this amazing
stuff coming out, I liked Blueprints a ton.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Uh alright, let's see here from George Sneezy Indiana Jones deals.
He came out and nobody noticed did it come out?
That's crazy? My review just as good as the main game,
even if it's a shortish Even if it's shortish and
presented as a side quest. I guess that came out.
When did that come out?
Speaker 2 (31:12):
When?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Oh? Is peak? Do you think Pink could get nominated?
Speaker 2 (31:16):
It's I think it's a dark horse, but it could.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
I would like to see that. It came out the
same day as Silk Song. Whoa, my god, what are
they doing over there? Okay, I'm going to I'll give
it a shy. I really like that game a lot.
Ryan Allen says it's odd to see your random Canadian
small town show up on the highway Park and Wolraine
has some people in a tizzy. Yay, we are in
(31:41):
a game, Wiener. Hey, Hey, congratulations, we're happy for you.
He did it that, Like that's the problem, Like, like
Forts and Horizon's not going to go to Canada, right
because like you might as well just go to America.
They've already done Colorado. Like what's the difference in a
game between Colorado and you know, the greater in a
peg area? Just it's be hard to tell. Let's see here.
(32:04):
Mikey O'Leary says, wow, a game mess and Giant Bomb crossover.
Never thought i'd see the day. I know, it's weird.
This is bizarre, Sam hopps, we normally do uh huh. Yeah,
things are changing around here. Sam Hopson says, if Forts
a Rice and six launches without a dedicated city pop
radio station, I'll riot in the streets. Love you guys
(32:24):
like I. I listened to city pop playlists on YouTube.
I don't. I guess I don't necessarily know what city
pop means.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
I definitely don't.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
I can tell you, okay, Mike doesn't. Christian, do you
know what city pop is?
Speaker 4 (32:38):
I thought it was just like eighties and like eighties
and nineties and Japanese rock rock pop type.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Okay, yeah, it's it's kind of like it's a music genre.
But what kind it's Japanese pop? Okay, Japanese it's it's
popul listen to in the city. It's like eighties Japanese pops. Okay,
classical Japanese pop.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
That kind of stuff, you know, like city pop.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
That's a good name for a genre. I like that.
I like the way that sounds. Okay, But let's see
here from El grug so, is Christian rich now given
recent events?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
No, I'm not. Still I'm still poor.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
I think there's the recent events.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Why would have no idea?
Speaker 4 (33:28):
I'm assuming he's talking about how the dollar issues like
skyrocketing here.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Maybe that's why I don't.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
I don't do that much.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
Dollar bro, I'm doing okay, but yeah, no.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Normally I get updated on like currency stuff. On some
of the stuff I listened to. They have not been
talking about what's going on in Argentina. I'll have to investigate.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
And also, my stupid president hang out with your stupid
president and they're like made like a deal or like
if we win the Yeah, yeah, if we win the
election and we're gonna give you a bunch of money.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
So maybe, okay, so you are rich. Yeah, it's like
butter like depth.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Or some it's like whatever, he's a different guy. We
owned money now Wokers.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Two Bears says, when are we going to get a
mod replacing in Wolverine with Mike and all the enemies
with various fruits? Only true hatred should warrant that much violence.
Would you even want if you had claws? Would you
even want to use them on fruit?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Oh? That would be too much like my fingers. There's
there's a sword maybe, but even then that's getting pretty
close in a video game, it's okay, of course.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Uh, let's see your Edgar Marino says, don't forget about
Digimond story Time Strangers. Oh yeah, that's a lock for
Game of the Year. Two Bears back it says, in
order to emulate the PS three, you first have to
emulate the sony fridge and the sony dishwasher. It's tough work.
Get backlar on it. Yeah, that's self process or you
got to be able to emulate it wherever it might
show up. So it's a good point. That's a lot
(35:01):
of work. Vander Essen says. So Xbox released over ten
games this year, more than several years combined. Do any
of them have a shot of making Game of the
Year nominations? Ninja guide him four. I think has a
chance if it's incredible. Sure. Uh there, geez, I am
wrecking my brain, Mike, I'm not coming up with much
(35:21):
over here they do? Uh, Chad, help us out here,
give us a little Outer Worlds two? Wait? Is Outer
World's two so coming out this year? Oh?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
A vow did? But yeah wait ohow yeah, I don't
know to us this year?
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Oh my god, that's fucking nuts.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
What what I have? Crazywatly forgot about that one?
Speaker 6 (35:41):
Me too.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
I mean, if I did think about it, I'd be like,
that's not this year. Oh wow, that's nuts. Okay. Indiana
Jones was Okay, Indiana Jones counts for uh because it
came out late last year, right, But that's that's never
it doesn't matter. Doom did come out this year and
that doesn't stand a chance.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Avowed was Okay, it's good, it's good, it's a good game,
but just it's not standing out.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
I think a Vowed will get nominated like in a category,
maybe like Best RPG or something, but it won't get
Game of the Year. South of Midnight could also get
nominated in a category, but no, I mean, listen, I
think all these games are good for the most part.
I think they had a really good good year in
terms of releasing video games. And also, I guess it's
(36:26):
worth pointing out the reporting right now is Microsoft has
ended its contract with Israel to help them use AI
use their AI tools to spy on people in Gaza
and in Palestine. So the pressure campaign seems to have worked,
although I think a big part of it was the
reporting on It really seemed to work once that happened. Apparently, Yes,
(36:46):
the Guardian was the first to report that, I believe,
so shouts out to the strong work of journalists looking
into that. Uh okay, let's see here. Bla weeze Van says,
we's been fifty hourses. This reminds me of when Jan
surprised everyone and did a podcast in the middle of
the long Mario Kart upf good shoe, let's good check that. Yeah,
keep up the good work, Penn fifteen. Thank you wise man. Yeah,
(37:08):
that was a good time.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
That was funny.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
The funny thing about that was that, guess because you
guys played every track and Mario kart eate the loox it.
Dana Ridge was like, let's play every track in every
Mario game. The man has no concept of how much
time things will take.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah, it's a problem. L Grug has a super chat here, Mike,
and I need you to react accordingly to each phrase
of this super chat. The Tigers beat the Guardians today,
so congrats, Jeff what I've been busy. But the Guardians
are still have the division tiebreakers, so congrats Mike, yay, perfect,
(37:44):
thank you Beefness, thank you el Greg.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Look, it's bad. It's bad. I don't care anymore. It's
so bad.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Okay, so bad.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
I appreciate that you should.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
It's bad.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
I was so excited about this season, and they gave
me every reason to be the whole year until when
it really fucking mattered. And it's bad. Oh man, that team. Okay, well,
I mean, listen, they could still make the playoffs, but
I just so what at this point, clearly they're not
good enough to do much with that. Okay, that does
it for the super chats. We're gonna take another break.
(38:21):
We're gonna get set up for our game, which I
think is us catching up on a courdly results of
our open credit guessing guessing game. That's what we're doing tonight. Yeah,
the results correct. Yes, okay, so we'll get right back.
We'll get set up. We'll do that right after this.
(38:42):
All right, we're back more decides. We are set up
for a mess of a guest Q three results in
Q four predictions. I'm gonna hand it over to Sean
here in a second, who is here to help us out.
Thank you, Sean. But also, if you can't see Mike,
don't worry, he's still here. Uh it's a hassle. Stepus camera,
and we're gonna go back to that other scene here
in a moment. All right, let's see here, Sean take
(39:03):
it away.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
I believe you assholes are counterprogramming giant bomb tonight and
what bad people kick anyways, Yes, welcome to a mess
of a guest Quarter three results Corps four predictions made
by our friend, then charged Wolf shot Wolf for putting
The scare as always is executive produced by Me Turbot
(39:25):
Sean Hi. Here, we have two gifts that I think
are just the most disturbing grub Verse gifts that Wolf
could find for this one.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Yeah, they're they're upsetting. Yeah, Dan is et and me
with the tiny little hand, although that's both of these
are very funny.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
Oh yeah, I'm Jeff. We've done so much over the past,
like what four years I forgive that gift is even real.
I don't know what that's from.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
I definitely have one of those small hands and have
shown it on camera. Okay, I think I think that's real.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
That makes sense. Wolf says he ran out of my
gifts a parent from doing all because I only Mike
was more on Michael's more emotive or something, you know, right,
I don't face. Yeah. Anyways, I always explain the rules,
especially because I have a feeling tonight there might be
some people watching who have never seen this before, So
(40:19):
let me run y'all through it. Every quarter the game
mess both the guys here on the podcast as well
as the community. We're giving a list of this quarter
was sixteen different games coming out in the third quarter
of twenty twenty five. They need to predict the Open
Critic scores for each one. The score is determined by
his top critic average. An Open Critic final scores were
(40:41):
talied on nine to four twenty five. So yesterday, whoever
was the closest got one point. If you get the
score exactly right, you got two points. And if you
did not think a game would come up by the
end of the third quarter you could say, will not release,
you also get the double points there. So further dope,
let's get right into it.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Real, real quick. Just two things. I don't have a
good feeling about tonight. I think things are going to
go poor for me. Two. When I was trying to
convince the people on the Fantasy Critic game to correct
something that I know is wrong, they didn't believe me.
And then a bunch of other people are like, I
listened to this game right here, so I know Jeff
(41:24):
is bad at this, so I want to play against
him in Fantasy Critic. And so I heard she is
out there everybody.
Speaker 5 (41:30):
What I heard was, well, he's not shryer, so we
don't have to listen to him.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Oh yeah, exactly. That's literally word for.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
We under. I feel like there's a couple of games
at least I think I was surprised how well they
did high wise, let's see, Yes, I think those are the.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Ones I did poor on.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
All right, Well, first up, we have Tony Hawk's pro
Skater three plus four. Jeff went first on this one.
Jeff predicted eighty eight. Mike went with eighty seven. Taking
the under was a good call from mikey it was
eighty three, So Mike gets a point there, and Dan Fiasco,
Zuell thirty four and KARAOKEI Blues in the Community all
(42:06):
got exactly right with eighty three, so shout outs to them. Next,
so Game War two Donkey Kong Bonanza, Mike went first
with ninety one. Deff took the under and ninety didn't
matter though because my guy exactly right. It was ninety
one on Open Critic nicely.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Dond I only I remember this one where it was
just like ninety one was such a good call, and
I was so frustrated, like, I guess I'll go ninety
because it couldn't go ninety two. That'd be insane, but.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
It couldn't possibly.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Good job, Mike, thank you.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
And then, as always, when there's a lot of people
in community who get I may abbreviate or skip over it.
I'll give you this one. Aska Luigi is a great name.
I need to say that on the air, Doctor Lynch,
Nuclear Lamb, Michael Riley, Matt and h Vogue on I'm
gonna say all got exactly right ninety one as well, Okay,
(43:04):
Game number three, Shadow Labyrinth, Jeff went first with eighty
two for some ungodly reason. Mike wasn't far behind though,
with eighty neither or right. It got a seventy on
Open Critics, so Mike gets the point there.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
I'll take it. I'll take it. Yeah, I would probably
both a bit optimistic.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
Oh yeah, I don't know what I was hearing that
made me think it could be like eighty two. That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (43:29):
Yeah, like I could see like upper seventies. I tell you,
guys were yeah, going a little higher in the eighties.
Bench first, Avenger, be Corliss and he Zipsys were on
either side of seventy with a seventy two and sixty eight,
so they got the points in the community. Good job,
Game number four, Ninja Guiden rage Bound. Mike went first
(43:49):
with eighty four, def little less faith in it eighty three.
Turns out his game is a banger. It got eighty
six on open Critics, so mikey gets the point there.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
It's a bad game. It's a bad game that do here.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
I was gonna say, fantastic and Jirachi warning Cliff at
this point.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
I want to get shut out.
Speaker 5 (44:14):
Let's do it all got double points. Game number five, Mafia,
the Old Country, I'm saying with pinched fingers. Jeff went
first with seventy two. Mike went with seventy one. It
did just go to seventy four, so it was modest.
Jeff was right to have a little bit more faith there.
So Jeff, you get the point there. And in the community,
(44:35):
Dylan got double points with the perfect guest of seventy four.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
Is that like the highest scoring Mafia game? But it's
up there highest Mafia? Yeah, was pretty No, I guess
I don't. I don't very little about the series, you know,
me and Mobsters.
Speaker 5 (44:49):
Right, I thought I thought these games did at least
like upper seventies.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
Maybe most of them are in the upper seventies.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Yeah, yeah, he'll be wrong there, but next, this is
the important one. Drag and dry. Mike. Mike was meming
on this game from the very beginning was prediction of
sixty nine. Jeff was giving a little bit more credit
(45:17):
with seventy. Nope, Mike's very nice guess page.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
The game is a seventy it's it's a seventy four,
sixty four on Open Critic, And the funny thing is
here if you look at the Ron Tomatoes style critics
recommend sixteen percent of critics recommend this game.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Jesus Christ, that's insane.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
That does not happen.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
Streaming, mad Am I winning.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
It's close, mind, it's close, Okay, it's close.
Speaker 5 (45:48):
Streaming Man and Matt both got the perfect prediction with
sixty four. So yes, we currently for audio listeners and Mike,
who is playing hadies two. Reminder, Mike is saying at
six points, Jeff is sitting at one. Next Yay, game
number seven, Dyingliced the Beast. Jeff went first with seventy eight.
(46:10):
Mike went with seventy five. People liked this one a
fair amount. It came in at eighty two, so Jeff
gets the point there, shoutsu George sneeze for getting exactly right.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
I know so little about this series. I don't think
I've ever played a second of any of these games,
so I just don't know much about them.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
So I do like one's a really good game.
Speaker 5 (46:32):
Game number eight Metal Gear saw a Delta snake Eater.
Mike went first with the eighty nine prediction. Jeff took
the under at eighty eight. I didn't realized this was
this was the case. Taking the under was correct. It
came in at eighty six, still a very very good score,
but a little bit lower nine. Jeff the point and
(46:52):
netting Ninten, Derek Warrencliffe sand passed b Corliss and Weisman
two points in the community with their guesses of eighty six.
Game number nine lost soul a side you went too
high from me talking about this.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Look, I I would have gone even lower it to
I think Jeff went first. I was like, I don't
think I'll go low. I guess I don't need to
go too low just in case.
Speaker 5 (47:22):
Jeff went first with the prediction of eighty, which for
any character action game is a bit high. Mike, I
think was a little I.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Don't think I knew what this game was when we
did this.
Speaker 5 (47:34):
You did not yeah, and I didn't say anything until afterwards.
Fun I was like, hey, maybe this could be the one,
but I think Mike was more in line was prediction
of seventy five. Unfortunately, the game was just a disappointment
in general. It came in at sixty four unfortunately. So
Mike gets the point there. In the community, the closest
was Jamie a Christmas Eve with seventy so yikes. Game
(48:00):
number ten, Genobi Art of Vengeance, Mike went first with
eighty six. Jeff said eighty five. Mike wins because also
a banger. Yeah, Daninja eighty a. Yeah, Noby is very
very good.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
That this is the one where I felt so good.
It's like, come on, eighty sticks, that's so hard to get.
I'll go under and all. That's such a safe call.
Oh my god, eighty eight, let's.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
Go to Rochet got exactly right with eighty eight. In
the community, game number eleven, Hell is Us, Jeff went first,
saying eighty one. Mike went second saying eighty and he
was closer jes barely is seventy nine. So Mike is.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Mike, did you know what this game was? When we
guessed No, I think.
Speaker 5 (48:49):
This is the one you had to look up.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
I think I might it might have been.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
I think even looking up maybe didn't help me much
figure knowing what it was.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
Yeah, in the community, a bunch of people got a
close bud no cigar with seventy eight and eighties. You
can see your name on screen now if you kept
the points game number twelve. Everybody's golf hot shots. Mike
said seventy six. Jeff said seventy seven. Mike got it
(49:18):
because it was a little low at seventy two, and
shouts to Dan Fiasco for getting double points perfec guess
of seventy two. There gave number thirteen just favorite baby steps.
Mike went first, saying seventy seven. Jeff was very confident
in this game and said seventy eight, but he was
(49:40):
wrong to be confident. It has a seventy five on
open com.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
Right, the reviewers are wrong. This game is awesome. This
game is so fantastic.
Speaker 5 (49:47):
Holy shit, Bench Doctor Lynchin, first Avenger, all got exactly right.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Shouts to them, ok, wonder before we kind of funny
at it, Jeff, Okay, that's all that matter.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Fair enough, fair enough, Wolfe.
Speaker 5 (50:01):
Is updating me, and apparently I was upset with Mike
for saying seventy five or whatever he said for Lost
Soul Side, which I don't know why Wolf would rewrite
history like that, that's just really But he also tells
me research clauses used for this game Borderlands four guys.
Apparently guys wanted to seea what the past border Lions
(50:22):
games did, and that sounds familiar to me. So Mike
went first. Mike said eighty three. Jeff took the under
probably smart there with eighty two paid off. It was
eighty two double points to one. Jeff Robb there, nicely done, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
I think this is the right the right kind of
game to use the research for, right, because when there's
so much data about the previous games, it really can't
inform you about what's going to happen.
Speaker 5 (50:44):
Exactly Yeah, screaming man Jamie H. Dylan, Doctor Ryan, Rob Fosser,
and Fileox for Tuna got exactly right gaming our fifteen
silent Hill lowercase f Mike went first with eighty four.
Jeff went with eighty three. Mike got it because this
(51:04):
one also a banger, apparently eighty seven on open critic.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
I mean That's that's been this whole This whole thing
is games getting up above like eighty five, eighty six
because they're just way better than you ever expected.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
That's this was the last score. So I was like,
whoa this game score that well?
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Geez exactly yeah exactly. It's like it's just such a
safe bet to go eighty three there, that's still really
high for Silent Hill, and then nope, it's even higher.
Speaker 5 (51:29):
Yeah for this new entry. People you know like the Yeah,
they like a remake of an old one bar, are
they gonna like the new one? There's probably safe to
go lower. But yeah, it did really well. Uh, Nick
Turbo and Mark both got exactly right. Nice and then yes,
this does ring a bell. Wolf says he thinks this
was the one Jeff used his research on, uh cross Worlds. Yeah,
(51:53):
Mike went first with eighty two. Jeff was like, nah,
so racing, I'm taking the under with eighty one. Mike,
your sonic fanboyism paid off eighty three on Open Critic.
You get the point just barely there. And then Mitchipoo,
Doctor Ryan and Don Fras all guy exactly right, double
points for them. Uh So, yeah, if you've been not
(52:16):
following along at home. That means that Mike Landing get
you thirteen points. Jeffrey grew ub got five points, so
not like, you know, a complete blowout, but what.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Blowout looks like he's got more than double what I have.
Speaker 5 (52:32):
Well, okay, let me put it this way, jeff I
know who's in the lead for the year. Since we
don't do quarterly's anymore, I know who's in lead for
the year.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
Worse all right, never mind.
Speaker 5 (52:41):
Yeah, this is not a blowout, jeff I am as
always scrolling through the community results on the video version,
so if you participated, you can see how you did
in the game. Those scrolling because there's quite a few
people participating, and says if you participated but don't see
(53:02):
your name, unfortunately you do not gain points. Thanks for playing,
but does mean that if Google wants to speaking.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Of looking of winning, I'm on the heck of a
run right now, I'm going there.
Speaker 5 (53:17):
We get here, Hey, you need to get to the
next slide. Congratulations to Dan Fiasco, Matt Durachi and Screaming Madden,
who all tied for first place with five points. So
nicely done, done well, says it's the first community tie
in two years of doing this.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Wow. Wow okay, and sixteen games too. You would think
that would make it easy to get out.
Speaker 5 (53:38):
Ahead, but yeah, four way ty you know less?
Speaker 1 (53:40):
Wow yep? All right.
Speaker 5 (53:42):
Next up we do have the second half of this game.
We have the quarter four predictions. This is going to
close out the year for us, though. You guys are
going to predict the Open Cricks score for seventeen games.
So many games coming out in the fall. Here deadline
for the community is, as always, when the first game
gets reviews. The reminder of what the Jeff Grubb research
(54:04):
clause is. You can choose to do research for one
game of your choosing and look up, hell you want
to try to figure out what the new release will get.
As always, if you don't think a game will release
in the Quarine say we'll not release to get the double points.
And Wolf has decide whoever likes Mission Impossible two more
gets to go first.
Speaker 2 (54:24):
Jeff, I really dislike that guy getting his finger cut
off with the cigar cutter.
Speaker 1 (54:29):
Okay, it's me. I like it more. I mean I
don't like it all that much, but I like it
more than that.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Okay, Well, Wolf says, ak, which one of you has
better taste, and today I say, Wolf, you're fired. All right,
first game here, Jeff, what do you think Battlefield Sex
is going to get? And pulling up the sheet? There
we go.
Speaker 1 (54:49):
All right, let's see here. I think it's going to
get in. Man? Should I just go higher? It feels
like that's like learning the wrong lesson. Maybe it's learning
the right lesson. Maybe I shouldn't think about it all
that much. I'm gonna go with an eighty five.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
Okay, my key, I don't know do yeah, I wanted
to do eighty five. You know, the campaign's probably gonna
be nothing. I guess I'll be a little bit pessimistic
on this one. Say eighty four, okay, gotcha. Game number
two is Little Nightmares three. Uh, we do a snake style, so, Mike,
(55:26):
Oh gosh, people like these games. I don't know too
much about them. Gosh if I used my looking thing now, Jeff,
would you look up the Metacritic score of the last
Little Nightmares for me?
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Yeah? Sure, let me look here. Okay, So you want
Little Nightmares two?
Speaker 5 (55:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Yeah, you want? You want Metacritic or open credit? You
want open credit?
Speaker 4 (55:44):
Right?
Speaker 2 (55:44):
Open credit? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (55:47):
Wow? Okay, it has an eighty three on Open Critic.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
I'm gonna say in eighty three, okay.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
I'll go diminishing returns and I'll say eighty two.
Speaker 5 (56:04):
Okay. Now, I believe this is the one I counterpicked
in our Fantasy Critic league because this one is like
a different development team or something. And so I was like, well,
that sounds like it's not gonna do well.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
All right, let's hope.
Speaker 5 (56:17):
So game number three Pokemon Legends Za Jeff.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Oh boy, all right, I'm gonna use my research clause
here fair enough Pokemon Legends. Let's see here Arcus.
Speaker 5 (56:33):
Okay, So I don't think I know this. I feel
like Arcus would be higher, maybe like low eighties.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
I'm gonna go eighty three.
Speaker 5 (56:41):
Interesting, Like, what do you think Legends ZA is gonna get? God?
Speaker 2 (56:47):
What did the other legends get? How A would use
my research?
Speaker 1 (56:51):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Three cents are right? Yeah? I mean part of me
is like, well this one, well, people actually like this
one more. I don't know, it's ambitious. I don't know.
I want to be a little optimistic on this. I
think people are sleeping a little bit. I'll say eighty
four for Za. Why not?
Speaker 5 (57:06):
Okay, what did Archias kid Jeff eighty three, I see interesting. Okay.
Game number four Keeper, Mike, I think this thing Keeper
is going to get what? Yeah, that was my first reaction.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Don't help them chat?
Speaker 2 (57:30):
It looks like there's a assistant want the moving lighthouse? Uh?
In eighty three?
Speaker 1 (57:41):
Okay, so this is the double Flying game?
Speaker 2 (57:43):
Right? Okay? I actually thought that the last moment there.
I think that's d Yeah.
Speaker 5 (57:48):
The key image here is a lighthouse. By the way, Mike, Sorry,
think you know what you're talking about?
Speaker 1 (57:52):
I will I will go with the new metaph for me,
which is the over eighty four optimism.
Speaker 5 (57:59):
I like it. Uh. Where the hell did this game now?
I've never seen this before.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
I think it was I think this was a direct
right No, no, no, not an Xbox thing, wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Yea, it's an Xbox games. That makes sense. Maybe that
was it at their showcase. Did they have a summer showcase?
I don't remember any more.
Speaker 5 (58:15):
Were saying an Xbox showcase, presumably the Xbox Showcase. Okay,
got it all right? Next game Game number five Ninja
Guy Den boar Jeath.
Speaker 1 (58:25):
Is this me? This is you?
Speaker 5 (58:27):
You are? Jeff?
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Oh shit, I am that's not good bad news. Really, guys,
my middle name is Mike. Maybe that's my score. In four,
I think it's going to be pretty good. So I'm
gonna say eighty four.
Speaker 5 (58:49):
Okay, Mike, I think.
Speaker 2 (58:51):
It's going to be even gooder than that, and I
will say in eighty six. Oh, okay, ball strategy and
I two points over.
Speaker 5 (59:05):
Game number six is Jurassic World Evolution three, mikey.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
I think pe people like this game is not some
crazy amount and it's just the third one. Now, I
want to say a eighty seems like super safe. I
almost want to be a little bit less than that
seventy nine for this one.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
Okay, Okay, now I'll go I'll go under, I'll go
seventy eight.
Speaker 5 (59:36):
Gotcha run out of Oh yeah, he's back to his
natural resting state. Game number seven, Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines
to Jeff.
Speaker 1 (59:50):
I'm gonna go with Mike. How do you feel about
this one?
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Why don't you like to know?
Speaker 1 (59:56):
I do.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
Almost go.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
I'm gonna go with a seventy Oh okay, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Yeah, I kind of am not feeling optimistic about it.
I think they're gonna miss, but BOYD do I think
it's gonna be worse than a seventy Not really, I'll
say seventy one. Okay, it's a disaster.
Speaker 5 (01:00:20):
It could be development. Hell yeah, who knows. Wolfe is
predicting in Chad. No shot this comes out this quarter.
Yeah I can see that too. That's true too.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
Yeah, I just said it was coming out a few
weeks ago, though.
Speaker 5 (01:00:32):
I mean, yeah, I like that Borlands for Swiched Suport.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Yeah, but that's Randy Pittford truly.
Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Yeah, you can't trust some moist Randy. Game number eight,
Once upon a Kada Mauri Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Yeah, you know, it's it's been a while. People might
be excited for this, but you know, people have not
liked these games as much almost ever since. We love Catamoy, right, Like,
people be happy about this for sure. Maybe an eighty
is fine on this one. Maybe that's even optimistic. I'll
say this one might get an eighty.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Okay, people did like that last one. The iOS won
a lot, right. I am hesitant though, to go over,
but I'm gonna do it anyhow.
Speaker 5 (01:01:19):
Eighty one eighty one okay, Yeah, I was really quick.
I was trying to like look up traditional reviews. I'm
not sure if there even are any or at least
enough to like have a score. Let me see cad.
Yeah it's not even listeny an open critic. I thought
I was very good though, despite being locked and mobile.
(01:01:42):
I slapped a controllerround that bad boy. I was like, yeah,
this is good. Game Number nine is The Outer Worlds too? Jeff?
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Okay, we just remembered this game's coming out this quarter. Yeah,
we would have been shocked here instead. Have we not
done that? Okay, let's say I wish I remember what
Avowed got all. So, I don't know how much that
really matters. I think I'm just trying to like grasp
its straws here. That first one probably was around in
eighty I think this one will be significantly better. I'm
gonna say now, I'm really gonna I'm gonna go fo
(01:02:13):
I'm gonna go higher than I was even feeling a
second Go eighty five?
Speaker 5 (01:02:16):
Okay, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Yeah, It's like you can see how this definitely does better.
It's weird because I bet this might be a bad game.
That last one. People forget like that first Outer World's
got a lot of really good reviews. As somebody who
was looking at a lot of twenty nineteen reviews scores recently,
that was not a lot of people's top vibes, even
though it seems to be a game that nobody actually
talks about very more, even with this sequel coming out.
(01:02:43):
I don't know, maybe I just be pessimate about I
think it was like an eighty one average. This will
do better than that. Maybe not a ton I'll say
eighty four.
Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
Okay, yeah, I just I just looked at it. The
first one did in eighty three.
Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
That sounds right to me. I like to quite a bit,
not like you know, head over heel, but I enjoyed it.
Game number ten Mina the Hollower and Mike is skilled.
Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
First Yeah, Mina the Hollower. Boy, I think this actually
looks really freaking good. We've had so many good indie games.
I wonder if I think that's the admission at all.
Probably not, says not for critics. I would say in
eighty seven for Mina the Hollow, okay, good. Eighty eight,
I thin guess it's gonna do like eighty eight.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Eighty nine.
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
I was like, what just here, he's gonna say eighty
three again like the twelve time.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Tonight, eighty eight this is doing. This is gonna be
really well.
Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
Okay, okay, Game number eleven, Terminator two D no fate Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
Uh, I'm worried that it's more gimmick than than than game.
I don't know. It didn't it did look really good.
Maybe maybe it's awesome. No, I'm gonna go seventy six.
Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Oh, okay, like I want, I want to believe. I
think this looks really neat. But how far is it
gonna take that? I'll say seventy eight?
Speaker 5 (01:04:09):
Seventy eight? Gosh, gotcha? Uh yeah, I'm curious what else
has been a bureau done. It did Zeno Crisis and
a couple hour ones. Oh, they're doing the he Man
game as well. Okay, okay, all right, all right. Given
twelve high Royle Warriors Age of Imprisonment, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Huh, I mean yeah, yeah, got it. I'd be curious
to know what Hira Warriors Age of whatever did.
Speaker 5 (01:04:43):
Calamity Calamity.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Yeah, it's not gonna do amazing. I bet it's gonna
be better than Calamity. Maybe they learned some less. It's
gonna run better than that game didn't launch, and that
was a big problem with that game, so they don't
have that going for it. Seventy nine already, are you
sure about?
Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Maybe seventy nine's probably that's a good one. I think
that's probably where I would have gone. I feel like
it's hard to go over, but I think it is
gonna run really well. I'll go eighty. I'll go over.
I'll be optimistic again.
Speaker 5 (01:05:26):
Okay, I did just look it up and Age of
Calamity did get seventy nine.
Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
So I'm not surprised. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
If this one's email a little bit better, maybe we'll yeah,
practice eighty Mark, We'll see uh. Game number thirteen, Luminous arise, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
I'm gonna say I'm gonna go wild with this on.
I'm gonna say.
Speaker 5 (01:05:49):
Ninety Oh hell yeah, that's what I late to hear.
Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
Hostly, I would have said ninety two. This is a
games journalists game.
Speaker 5 (01:05:58):
Yeah, self select, Greg Miller ass game.
Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Luminus always has been to the point where I almost
want to do the over on it. As crazy as
it sounds, people love Luminous more than I do. It
turns out, actually, maybe this one I'll finally really get into.
Ninety one just seems wacky. I don't know, I'll say
eighty nine. I don't play this one a little safe.
Speaker 5 (01:06:20):
Okay, Yeah, people do love I was like a little
surprised at how much Dan loves it, like watching you
guys do that quick look. But yeah, Mike's right, people
get really into us, all right. Closing in on the
end here, Game number fourteen, Call of Duty, Black Ops seven, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Black Ops seven. I think this is going to be
a bit of a more down one. I think people
are going to be a little tired. I think I
get seventy seven for this one.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
Okay, these ones they have been getting around in the
eighties recently. But Mike's Mike's not wrong to know that
or to guess this one's going to be down one.
I also think that's going to be the case. I
think I think I just kind of have to hope
that they like short up enough that it can do
over and I'll go, I'll go seventy eight.
Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
Okay, Yeah, I mean people might have a little bit
of fatigue. But this being the follow up to like
Black Ops two, is what the intention here is apparently
like it might do well. I looked at Black Ops
six eighty three. You could hit there again.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
We have to say, I like, you know, I would
have been willing to go up to like an eighty
two eighty three for this one.
Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
But yeah, I wouldn't have said more in that, but yeah,
give number fifteen Kirby Air Riders, Jeff, this is an
interesting one.
Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
Yeah, they seem he seems to really love this game
that he has made. I'll go a flat.
Speaker 5 (01:07:51):
Eighty flat eighty got it, Nike Kirby Air.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Tough because Kirby Air Right did not get good reviews
kind of developed a bit more of a cult following
or a bit more respect after the fact, like this
is this is not a reviewers game, I think, actually,
even though I think I will like it quite a bit,
but I definitely think it's gonna review Earlier when you
said in eighty that sounds pretty nice. I bet I'm
(01:08:21):
going to think it's like an eighty five or eighty three,
but I think a lot of people aren't, so maybe
maybe a shot. It's like, gosh, I really doubt Sackerai.
I think I gotta have a little faith. I think
this is wrong, but I'm gonnay eighty one. I'm gonna
be optimistic. I think he's gonna figure out how to
make it appeal.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
This game more easily and a bit like eighty two
eighty three easily could do that. Yeah, I was hoping
I was helping you would take the under Mike did.
Speaker 5 (01:08:45):
Mike did say this game did not or sorry, the
first game did not get good review scores. Do you
guys know how not good of reviews? Course sixty I
thought I was in the sixties. Yeah, yeah, it's sixty one,
and I don't know I have seeing anything about this game.
Then it's all.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
About the field. Though, it's all about the field. I
think people could not get used to that fast enough,
and I think this time he'll nail it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
Okay, okay, I think I think the thing that'll push
it higher is that a generation that grew up on
Kirby A right is now reviewing the next game. I
think that's that's.
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
Also the part of it. Also, there's more buttons.
Speaker 5 (01:09:25):
Yeah that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Yeah, shout out Samari. I think it's going to be
one of those you may not be ready for that,
but your kids are gonna love it. Situation here.
Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Alright, Game number sixteen, Octopath Traveler zero.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Mike, it's weird because like I looked, just like, oh,
they're just turning over some some mobile game assets for
a game that doesn't sound good, but all the Octopath
Traveler people seem very excited about it still, and that
game has fans. Another game that the critics love Octopath
travel They love Octopath Traveler two. I'm either gonna like
get quit as this quite as much as that, But
(01:10:03):
I bet this still gets in it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:05):
Like eighty five, okay, locking that in eighty five? Eighty five, okay,
all right, okay, I'll take the under on this one.
I was kind of think it's gonna get dinged a
little bit more than that. Eighty one ish is what
I was thinking. So I'll go eighty four and just hope,
hope the underhits.
Speaker 5 (01:10:22):
Now. Interestingly, the highest rated Octopath is two at eighty five,
which the way people talk about you think it would
be even higher.
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
But yeah, I was higher than I don't know, I thought.
I thought it was in the nineties. I thought it
was like ninety even. I think you got me on
that one, then, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Well, we'll see, well, I mean not the way it's
been going.
Speaker 5 (01:10:42):
All right, And our last game for the Evening, the
game that is coming out this year, suck it. Dan
Metroy Prime four Beyond Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
Yeah, Like, I'm like, I'm ready to go fully wild
with this one with who gives a shit anymore. I'm
gonna say ninety.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
Six, yell's go wow.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
I will play it. But if I if it wasn't,
if you didn't go that high, I might say a
ninety two. I'll play it a little safer now and
say a ninety three.
Speaker 5 (01:11:14):
Ninety three.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Yeah, talk about ninety three.
Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
I think it's gonna be done right in Chat says
I believe it when I see it.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
Yeah. Yeah. This game also has the Randy Pitchford stank on.
A look at these scores for past Metroy Prime games
ninety two, ninety one, ninety four, ninety seven. I can't
wait to see what this one gets. All right, well,
Wolf says, let's end, Yeah, another fun year of mess
(01:11:45):
of a guest with a bang, and I will summarize
everything for the audio listeners here. Let me get that
pulled up and I should have it framed up correctly, Jeff,
after I moved it over there, yep, thank you, look
ext one. All right, let me get my auctioneer hat
on so I can run everyone through this battlefield six,
Jeff said eighty five Mike said eighty four. Little Nightmares three,
(01:12:08):
Jeff said eighty two, Mike eighty three. Pokemon Legend z A.
Jeff said eighty three, Mike said eighty four. Keeper. Jeff
said eighty four. Mike said eighty three. Ninja guid In four.
Jeff said eighty four, Mike said eighty six. Jurassic World
Evolution three. Jeff with seventy eight, Mike was seventy nine.
Vampire of the Masquerade Bloodlines two, the lowest scoring one
(01:12:31):
according to the guys. Jeff was seventy, Mike was seventy one.
Once Upon a Katamari. They were optimistic Jeff with eighty one,
Mike with eighty The Outer World's two, even more optimistic
Jeff with eighty five, Mike with eighty four.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Me now the hollower.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
They think it's going to pop off Jeff with eighty eight,
Mike with eighty seven. Term Naior two D no faith.
They're not thinking the same thing about this one. Jeff
with seventy six, Mike with seventy eight. High Rule Warriors,
Age of Imprisonment Jeff with eighty, Mike with seventy nine.
Luminous Arise Jeff within ninety Mike with eighty nine, Call
of Duty Black Ops seven, Jeff said seventy eight, Mike
(01:13:08):
said seventy seven, Herbie Air Riders with an S. Jeff eighty,
Mike eighty one, Octopath Travelers zero. Jeff said eighty four,
Mike said eighty five. And I love it here Metro
Prime for Beyond Jeff said ninety six, and Mike still
said ninety three. This is gonna be an interesting quarter.
I can't wait to see how this one shakes out.
Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
Yep, even more games this time around than last time.
I think we did it a little late in the
quarter last time. Maybe that's part of it. But yeah,
I mean we didn't we miss ghost Yotech. We didn't
do that one. So there you go. Yeah, man, what
what a quarter? Got a lot of games here, Okay, Sean,
thank you so much. Well, thank you of course, Mike,
go fuck yourself. Looking forward to getting the results here
(01:13:50):
in about threeish months. It's going to be a good
end of the year. Let's take one more break. We'll
we'll come back, talk about maybe a handful of other
games and clean up those super chats and got on
out of here. We'll be right back. All right, We're
back Mike, what have you been playing Hades too?
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
I've been playing a bit of that turns out well, boy,
this is real fun.
Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
I've been playing it for what about four and a
half hours straight now, still just having a very good time.
Don't want to stop. Gosh, I wish I should have
made sure I had this download my switch to because
when I've done with this dream, I might just still
want to play tonight in bed.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
It's you're playing on PC and people should know it's
got excellent cross saves, like it's all done in game.
You don't have to rely on any external thing. I
mean you have to sign into your Steam account if
that's what you're playing on your sweet isn't she hideous?
I can't even look upon her form? Baby, Oh du
(01:14:55):
powers are fun. Yes, it's real good. It's a real
good game. Like I'm trying to still finish up Silk Song,
but I've been going to this here and there, and yeah,
it's it's it hit even harder than I thought it
would after that early access period where it was it
was excellent. Says is that a dude? He got them?
(01:15:16):
And it's like, yeah, it's just it really came together.
They used that time to really refine everything, and it's
awesome to see just how amazing they were able to
make this game.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Yeah, they just absolutely killed it. I mean, you know,
of course they're following very much the blueprint from that
last game. But that's fine. You we'll talking about a lot, Jeff, Yeah,
do the sequel. These days, Zoology seem to be the
path for video games for sure, Like I don't know
if you need to do a Haites three per se,
just like I don't know if you need to do
a third holow Night. But boy, those both those sequels
(01:15:46):
that we got from those big indie hits, they sure
are fantastic.
Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
Yep. Yeah, they kind of Like it's like they had
so many ideas that they probably were running with in
the first game that they had to leave on the
cutting room floor. Put all of those in here, take
the time to make them as good as you possibly can,
and you got yourself one of the best games ever made.
Like in both cases, Yeah, it's it's fantastic. We will
probably talk about it a lot more next week because
(01:16:10):
we'll be spending a lot more time with it. The game.
Is is it out now? Or is it out? Is
it ut? This like, oh, you know it's out now,
that's why you're playing it right now, That's why I'm
playing it. So yeah, one point out, one point oh,
fully out. Now you get it on on Switch and PC.
It'll be on other consoles later. The fiscal version will
be on Switch in November, I think they said. But yeah,
like I said, we'll talk about it more next week.
(01:16:32):
I've been playing Baby Steps. That is it's really really good.
They really nailed what they what they went for. It
is the kind of game where yeah, it's it's it's
that streamer slop. Yeah, yeah, sure, if you're if you're basic,
it's it's it's way more than that. It's it's got
so much going on in terms of learning how a
character moves and kind of like providing more controls over
(01:16:56):
a character than you should have or what you expect
to have. Like game for so long have just been
interested in making you feel cool that when you get
a game, it's like, well we have well we're not
worried about that. What if we just try to make
it too realistic to the point where it's like, well,
this doesn't feel right at all, but let's see we
can make this work and the game gives you all
these little small techniques that you can do to do
(01:17:18):
way more than you would think you'd be able to do. Like,
for example, you can step up with your foot and
you could try to bring your your other leg up
to like climb up climb up onto a like sheer
cliff wall, but a lot of times your knee will
get in the way and it'll bump against that and
you won't be able to actually bring it up. But
if you begin to like twist backwards, you could sometimes
like sort of cork screw your body and land your
(01:17:39):
foot down. And there's a nice little thing where there's
a shadow for each foot, so you could tell exactly
where it's going to land. And you get that shadow
right in the right place, and there's like just a
little like shade of a rock face, Like there's a
certain shade of rock where you're like, oh, if I
put my foot here, it's probably gonna be safe. And
when you know that, you could just then like sort
of turn the camera, turn your body the foot, and
(01:18:01):
it just you get into this sort of mesmerized state
of you. You're no longer thinking about anything. You're just
kind of going with the flow. And it's fantastic. And
they have a lot of like really small little challenges
where it's like, here is a fruit at the top
of a tree or at top of a pile of boxes,
can you get up there? And I've definitely done a
(01:18:22):
bunch of these. Every time I see one, I get
excited because it's like, all right, that's gonna be the
next half an hour of fifteen attempts to try to
get up there, and I just get such a sense
of accomplishment. It's equivalent to beating a really tough boss
and silk song or whatever. It's obviously a genre for me,
but I do think more people would enjoy it if
they sort of kind of understood what it was going for.
(01:18:43):
It's hard to like get that just by watching it
and being like, oh, this is a silly game that
you shouldn't take seriously. And it's like, yeah, but there's
plenty of fun stuff to mind from this game if
you're willing to go in there and give it a shot. Now,
when you fall down and then you hit a mud
slide basically a slide of mud, and you fall and
(01:19:03):
you fall and you fall and you lose progress, You
lose an hour progress, you lose two hours of progress.
I don't blame anyone for putting the controller down and
never touching the game again. But if you overcome that
and you persevere, that has its own sense of accomplishment
that is incredible. And I've definitely done that several times now.
And it feels terrible to lose all that progress. That's
(01:19:24):
it's human nature to feel terrible about that. But I
appreciate a game that isn't like shining away from that
is like just kind of throws that idea in your
face and still goes for it. And that's been at
Foddy games through too. That's always been the case, obviously,
and this game has that as well.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
What was that in the ways I was hearing just now?
It couldn't have been from my computer because chat hurt
it and I have my desktop audio.
Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
I'm realizing that Jeff was still watching me. That's my bad.
Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
You I don't play wait, I didn't hear it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Oh oh, I heard it. I'm still watching Sean is why?
Oh Mike, that's why, Shawn, everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
Wait, but like, why did you close your stream because
I pushed.
Speaker 2 (01:20:07):
The wrong button? Stop watching. I'll share my screen again
and hold on, everybody, there you go. Now that's.
Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
What.
Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Maybe you're not playing enough games. Maybe you should playing
two games. While podcast I was doing so good.
Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
I was doing so good, thrown off there for a moment.
That's just me stream. Yeah. I don't you think I'm
gonna like this one more than I generally like these
kinds of games, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:20:40):
Maybe maybe a little bit more. I don't think it's
gonna be one where you suddenly like get it or
something where it's like, oh, this is I've just been
missing something. I think you know what these things are,
and you know that they're mostly not not for you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:51):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
I think you will.
Speaker 1 (01:20:53):
I think you'll play this game and you'll be like okay,
Like you're not gonna be like, oh, this isn't a
real video game, which I think can be the same
that people have about a lot of these kinds of
games where it's like, oh, this is just like a joke,
a meme. I think you'll see that's like, oh no,
there's clearly thought put into this, and there's a lot
going on here, but it is not taking itself seriously.
There are a lot of humanoid donkeys with giant dicks
(01:21:16):
just walking around and talking to you, and and it's
most they mostly nail that humor, they don't. They mostly
get it. It's I'm not like busting up laughing. I'm
not like laughing out loud constantly, but it's also not
like so a big part of it is the writing
is very clearly improv like they have a couple of
things they're supposed to say, but then the characters are
(01:21:36):
just obviously the actors were in the booth together and
they're talking to one another, and the main character, Nathan
is always kind of stammering and stumbling over his words,
and all of the other voice actors like can't help
but laugh when he's talking, and they just leave all
that stuff in there. It's really they're just like okay, buddy,
and they're like like that, Well, they'll just like be
(01:21:56):
all right and laugh at him. And there's something really
charming about that. Uh it's.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
About the donkey dicks.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
Well, I didn't say right. There are way way, way
more donkey dicks in this game than you would think.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
I'll tell you what. I was thinking there'd be zero.
Speaker 1 (01:22:13):
Well, then there's there's infinitely more. And that does not
mean one. Uh, there's there's a scene in there where
there's like seven and they're just all right at the camera. Now,
you can turn that off, you can turn the nudity off.
But I'm not a coward. Now you're not a coward.
Exact I knew, I didn't and all that's. Uh, it's
(01:22:33):
I don't know. I'm I'm having an awesome time with it.
Like this is easily going to be on my top
ten games of the year, and probably quite a bit
higher than that. You know, it's not gonna you serve
Silk Song or Haities two or anything like that, but
it's yeah, they really this is like the the ideal
one of these in a three D setting. We haven't
had a lot of those necessarily. We had like you know,
(01:22:55):
only up and stuff like that, but those are sort
of just say let's take these sets and make a
challenging thing and all that stuff. This has a little
bit more going on than that. They are telling a story.
They have a character there where you know, he gets
on a phone call later in the game with his
dad and like it's weird because you know, this is
it seems like he has slipped into an alternate reality,
(01:23:15):
like an Alice in Wonderland situation a little bit. But
his dad's like, hey, can you show up, buddy, and
can you like put on real clothes? And your sister's
got a promotion and we're kind of celebrating her. We
want you to be there. And you know that this
character just doesn't have a shit together at all. He
barely knows how to walk, and you could just tell
this a stressing amount, and it's just I don't know,
there's something about that that I find it reminds me
(01:23:36):
of Octo Dad, where it's like, yeah, this is a
character that is just struggling through everything, and that is
very relatable, and you can tell that that's the story
they're trying to tell, and they mostly tell it through gameplay,
which I think is deeply, deep, deeply respectful, so respectable,
I should say, all right, anything else from you, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
I mean, you know, there's been some stuff here in
there that I have taught.
Speaker 5 (01:24:01):
Bouts.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
We dug, you know, we dug a hole at one time.
Recently we played some Sonic We played Sonic Racing Cross Worlds,
and I'm like, I guess, I'm so not sure where
I am in that game. It's so hard to tell
me if it is just my general like this interest
in cart racers compared to other people. Because the way
some people talked about this one, I was like, oh,
maybe this one's like gond be extra exciting. And I'm like,
(01:24:23):
I mean, it's still one of these, And I think
that's all people were trying to say, is that it's
a good one of these and it's a bit more
of a traditional one of these when mariok KRT World
was trying to do some things that maybe they didn't like.
And I get that, right, I.
Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
Uh, can I say in defense of Sonic Racing, By
the way, you guys didn't play a single normal Grand Prix.
Dan always had some wacky rules turned on even at
the end, really fun. Yes, Like even at the end
you were still doing the rivals of race, which changes
the way the AI works and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:24:52):
Did you know that, Dan, Like we dance defense, I
had no idea. Like when we were playing, I could not.
Speaker 5 (01:24:57):
I was streaming in jab Like you picked the long mode.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
I saw you say that, and I thought, I'm like, well,
clearly he's got the right one this time. No, Like
it didn't say that as an option.
Speaker 5 (01:25:10):
You see when you blowed up the Lobby's rival race
Regular Race.
Speaker 1 (01:25:15):
Is it really called regular race?
Speaker 5 (01:25:16):
I know it it's called it's like character or player
race or something like that. But one was very clearly
the other thing, and he picked the other thing just
because first.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
On the list, I was having a good time, not
such a good time that it's like, oh, well, I'm
gonna play a ton of this, Like obviously there's so
many games, but even if there weren't, it's not one
that I would be like racing back to Jesus. But
it's definitely one like I'll throw in front of the
kids and if they want to play it, I will
definitely play it with them and not be mad about it,
which is I think, like, you know, probably where this
(01:25:47):
game was going to end up in its best case scenario,
So I think that means it's a pretty good one
of these.
Speaker 5 (01:25:52):
That's definitely what I expected you get out of it.
So yeah, it feels like you got the gist of
it by the end at least.
Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
I but playing as one of those stupid characters that
are the bad guys from Sonic in the Lost World
as your main get help.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
Just I was like, where's it gonna go with this?
Just get help. Just you're lost and you clearly need
to talk to somebody.
Speaker 5 (01:26:17):
My favorite YouTubers is that guy, but I won't say who.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
Right. I still like Mario kart World a touch better,
but not like like I should like Mario kart World
a lot better. But you know, that's where Mario kart
World is. That's more of Mario kart World thing. Okay,
anything else, Mike, I mean I played a little bit
more of a blippo, but I kind of just want
to show that off now, so I'll probably still stream
that at some point, I know. Anything else from you?
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Nothing crazy, nothing crazy. I mean I have been playing
more Monster Trained two and I am you know, I
am definitely liking it. It is a very good one
of those. It just you know, do a run. Why
I watch you do games mornings or something like that, right.
Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
Right, all right, let's see here.
Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
Oh Christian, no, no, you'll play some silent him am
I the only one.
Speaker 1 (01:27:04):
I haven't nobody any time for it. It's so good. Yeah,
it's just really quick.
Speaker 4 (01:27:10):
It's just if you if you're like in the fence
for like, it's a it's a it's like a super
spooky game. It's not that scary. It's just the bibes
are definitely scary. But it's like, I play five hours
so far and I had like one shump scare and
that's it.
Speaker 5 (01:27:27):
It was like one.
Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
It's just if you if you can't hang out with
because most people who play these type of games are
care of the hump scares. This one doesn't have that issues.
All the vibes and the writing is pretty good, pretty creepy.
So I really hope you play it because I want
to talk more about it, because.
Speaker 1 (01:27:48):
I'll try in October, like I'll like, yeah, I'll probably
find a reason to play it on the site or
if someone else does, then I don't know, maybe streaming
on my own, but I'll make it my October spooky game.
Because it's also not like insanely long, right, it's like
eight to twelve hours.
Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
Yeah, it seems to sure.
Speaker 4 (01:28:03):
I'm like halfway through After Life four and a half hour,
so I'm streaming it pretty much every nine now, So
if you if you all want to hang out, Christy
on the score, let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
Okay, that's fun. Mike Christian, did you say there's a
way to avoid getting hit by the sheep?
Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
I mean I can't. I mean, yeah, I know I
can dash through it, but eventually dash forward. Yes, yeah, yeah,
I do that, like I do it five times and
it keeps happening, and then eventually other attacks start happening.
Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
I've never been able to avoid it. I've never been
able to a single time. Then do it and send
me a clip, because I want to learn how I
want to. I want to learn your way.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
Sure we finished the recording, I'll show you.
Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
Damn it.
Speaker 5 (01:28:44):
You never considered may we like being sheep? You never
thought about that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
Christ That's truly yeah again, come on, Christian, have some respect.
All right. Let's see here. I'm going to clean up
the super chats. Let's see where we were. We got
a handful more in here. Let's see here. I think
maybe we get to maybe just there stupid Okay, two
more big denim. Keep the rants coming, Mike, love you guys.
(01:29:07):
Look forward to your ship hot takes. Every week.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
They're hot ship hot takes or hot ship takes, which is.
Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
Ship hot ship hot. I think that's good, so good.
Even if they're ship they're still hot takes. The untried
Wolf says am I two emission impossible to is dumb
fun that's why it's cinema's peak. There there are dumber,
funner movies than.
Speaker 4 (01:29:33):
They exactly what I was about to say, like, yeah,
that movie is Yeah, I guess it's dumb. Fight He's
dumb and a little bit fun. But other than that,
it's just such a boring movie.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
Yession, impossible to not the depressing one? Is that three?
Or I thought that was two?
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
No, two is not the depressing one.
Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
It's definitely not the depressed What do you mean the
depressing one? Are there any depressing ones?
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:29:56):
Well, one of them, just like the drama is a
lot sadder. It's still a long time since I've watched
the first.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
I mean, his wife has like a bomb in the head.
Speaker 1 (01:30:04):
And yeah, like three's got three is like a little
bit more in its feelings, I guess, But I mean, okay,
it's that one's like the one the start of the
modern generation of those, and it's not like the best
at this point. I really it was my favorite for
a long time. It's J. J. Abrams And I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
Know, everybody is saying that's three that I'm thinking of.
So that's Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
He kind of like shows up the scenery and yeah,
a woman does get killed, it would upset Mike, so yes, yeah, sure, dumber, dumb,
dumber and funner. Uh that's god.
Speaker 5 (01:30:40):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (01:30:40):
Extraction? Extraction two on Netflix? That is, it's just a
call of duty campaign as a movie, but in all
the good ways, it's it's fantastic. Go watch that, everybody. Okay,
let's see here. I think, oh yeah, we got one
more super chat from l Greug Virtual hide line done,
Donkey Kong sixty four and next, Mike, do you have
(01:31:03):
a do you have a timeline and idea of the
DK sixty four stuff? It's we're still a little bit
off from it, but do we have like a general idea?
I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
There's other things we're talking about, a giant bomb. Definitely
more concerned about the moment. Honestly, yes, there's other things
that must happen first. We're kind of lining that up.
Speaker 1 (01:31:20):
So it's DK sixty four is still going to happen,
and when it does, Micha will probably just like stream it.
But like, you know, I could like drive over there
for certain incentives, but I definitely have a bunch of
bullshit that we could just you know, mess with him
while he's playing it in fun ways, the ways that
would be exciting to see. And again, like I said, Mike,
no weird food stuff or anything like that. Nothing gross. Okay,
(01:31:43):
I think that's gonna do it for us. God do
we do anything else on this show? We did the
super chats. I think we're ready to start wrapping it up. Okay,
I'm gonna hit this, Mike Bnanadi. Want you tell people
where they could find you on the internet, what you
have going on and all that good stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Well, sometimes I do things on the website Giant bombed com.
Who knows when or where? Uh, but yeah, you can
also check me out twitch dot tv, slash Tolkoto, or
my Disney podcast Nineties Disney My brother's a feeling slightly
less ashamed about recently.
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
At least.
Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
It could be worse, for sure, any worse. Oh those
fuck is. But but yeah, yeah, there's there's all that.
How about you, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
Yeah, I'm uh yeah over on Giant bomb Uh. We're
gonna be doing that Baby Steps race against kind of
funny tomorrow. Really looking forward to that. I'm expecting them
to show up for that one. I know snow snow Bike.
Mic has beaten that game, so very very least he's
gonna know where to go played it, so testing your
par set, yes, and yeah, it's gonna be and it's
(01:32:46):
a relay race. We're gonna be handing off the controllers.
It's good, it's gonna be fun. But I expect the
big problem is we're either gonna get lost, or even
if we do know where we're going, if we have
to make a mistake in the wrong spot, we could
fall down and then actually lose our bearing. And yeah,
it's gonna it's gonna be tough, but I'm really looking
looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
Somebody found my twitch was like, it took for to
find this. I don't know what to spell tolkoto. So everyone,
