Speaker 1 (00:26):
It's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do this. Welcome to
the Game Has Decides podcast, the podcast where we decide
everything that has happened in the world of video games,
so you never have to think for yourself. I'm your host,
Jeff Grubbin.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
With me is Mike Manatti.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
In today's episode, EA has new owners. Game pass prices
aren't going up. We're going to fix another list. But
first of all, Mike, how are you doing doing? Bud?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah? Yeah, I went back to look at earlier Giant
Bomb shows. You weren't wearing that Detroit Tigers lady. Then
I noticed it.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Was a bit warm. All right, it was a bit
warm today. Now now I'm feeling like I was. I
can with stand the heat a little bit here in October.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
I boy, I want to be gracious, but your team
could not deserve it less.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I gotta say, yeah, look, I mostly agree. They really
kind of blew a lot this year. But it is
impossible for me to understand what it's like to have
a team come back in a historical way during the
season and then lose to your friend's team in the playoffs.
How would I ever know what that feels like. That's
what happened last year with the.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Dance and chat saying that he'll allow this baseball conversation. Great,
good get the context on this. Where was context? I
can't help it. You don't know the context. You know
what else? You know what else? God? So we were
we were waiting to go in and like the Channel
five news came up to her, to me and my
brother and my nephew, and they're like, ooh, you guys
made eye contact. Let's talk to you. And they talked
to us for a while. They got all these good
(01:51):
sound clips. I made him laugh. Harrison was being sweet,
Chris was telling a great story about like our grandpa
taking it blah blah blah, and guys like that was great. Guys,
six o'clock news, Let me get your let me spell
your name right, Okay?
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Good?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Just yeah, make sure you watch it. We were on
the news. You got left on the cutting room floor
cut probably because they I bet, because they lost, so
I don't know if any they didn't want to talk
about it. So I was like, this is a great day.
I'm gonna be in the news Guardian's and gun I
went Now, look, I had a great time. It was
I love baseball. I love going to the game, getting
(02:26):
to hang out with my family. We had we had
a very good time. I was kind of getting bummed
out because I hadn't made it up to a game
this season and it's been very busy. So when my
brother was like, hey, I got tickets, can you go,
I'm like, oh, I really do want to go. So
it was great. I'm glad that we had one bad inning,
really bad inning, and then somehow we had the smallest
(02:48):
glint of a comeback. Wasn't meant to be. Look and
again not I don't mean to wish your team ill. Well,
I don't think either of us we're going to win
the World Series. Yeah, neither.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Yes, this was a very very much that The reason
it was the first game of the day each day
for the playoffs was neither of these teams are going
to matter in these playoffs. That's very true. It feels
that way. We're just not We're not hitting the baseball,
which is important in baseball now.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Of course. Special guest, Special guest Nicky Grayson here, Nicky,
how's it going pretty good?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
I'm just trying to check in and see who's got
their team their baseball team still in the playoffs right.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Now, I'll raise my hand, Nikki raising my hand. Yeah,
and Christians race for the for the Yankees. So oh cool,
you two.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Are with the Yankees fan, How does that feel? Gorgall
October baseball beats one game the day we go fishing.
All right, we're tired.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I had a I had a blast watching this game.
I texted Grub in the middle of it. What did
I say to you? Greub?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I think you were like something a good time or
Mike's having a good time. And I was like, I'm
legitimately worried about tonight's podcast. I'm like, legitimately work.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
There was a there was a sweet moment because you know,
like we had to kind of be floaty and to
keep the kids spirit up. And at the end there
was actually a couple of Detroit fits sitting in front
of us, and they were nice talking to them. At
the end, he turn and like, fist bought my my nephew.
They got a good game, man, You guys gonna be
a great team next year. And I look at my nephew,
got bus is soul a single tier on. I was like,
(04:30):
but that's fine. We're Cleveland. We're gonna lose a lot.
You getting the practice in is important, like while they're young,
like getting them used to it exactly.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
There was so much more from losing. I legitimately believe this.
It is so much better for a child to experience
losing through sports than it is to do experience losing
through anything else. So like formative, legitimately formative, and then
to also be like positively reinforced afterwards.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
No, that's good.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
That's everything you could possibly want.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
It was good. He was fined. We got him some
some some bubble gum or something. It was great. Yeah,
he had I got him a foam finger. He had
a good time. There's another There was a loud heckling
uh Detroit fan behind us, so sometimes they gotta be bad.
But I have to admit he was pretty funny because
we had like seven pitching changes, Like right at what
(05:22):
point the picture? We brought it immediately like threw a
ball and the guy was like, I hat another picture.
Christ dies, that's really good.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
I had all right, have a good rest of your show, Mike.
I am sorry.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Good, Yeah, I listen good.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
We turned we turned it on the clock turned to
October and we said, oh, we can play baseball.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
You play baseball. Yeah, I'm hoping that happened to Tigers.
I think it might have just happened because they were
playing the Guardians, and I don't.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Have a lot of hope came a trophy for being
really good in September out of nowhere the Guardians would
that's okay, watch anymore Guardians baseball. But what are you
gonna do? Yeah, I been back next year. Uh, well somethics.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
To think about your team, It's like you guys like are,
if not the youngest team, like one of the youngest teams.
And you guys got a lot of good prospects. You're
gonna be there for a long time. Uh. Tigers are
a little bit more of a question mark. It seems
like it was maybe all a facade up until this point,
and they might fall apart. Yeah, it's just baseball.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
You know, We'll just I just I just really don't
want to go through all of this. Is like Yankees
win the World Series.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Again, and yeah, I mean even you know Nicky's gone, right,
even the Dodgers have be a bummer too. So yeah,
like if it was if it was a Dodgers Yankees
series again, I.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Probably have like three more years of enjoying baseball until
the Saudi's buy the mb or something. Anyways, I don't know, there's.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Already you already got a marathon badge on there. What's
another oil company in baseball?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
So yeah, but we had a good time. How was he?
You know? Actually we actually listened to games morning is
on the way there. Harrison got very excited when you
mentioned that K pop Deep Hunters was on tonight. It
cristically be like, oh I didn't want him to know.
We gotta get a tag.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Come on, you're welcome, Harrison. Yes, absolutely, that's fine. Yeah.
I told the girls about that this evening, and like
I was like, hey, there's this game called Fortnite, and
she's like basically stops and like that you think I
don't know what Fortnite is? Like, you shouldn't even have said,
That's what she said to me. Okay, yeah, I guess
I should have known. Yeah, but yep, we're gonna check
that out this weekend. I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah. Good voicemail dump Chuck as well. I want everyone
to know that I think you should keep sending in
voicemails about me. I think it's a beautiful thing. Also,
you guys brought up icing ice. Want to say I
was a champion not at icing people, but at getting
ice because I drink so much pop in my life
that that was nothing. Having to shove a cold carbonated
(07:57):
beverage on my knees bring it on. That didn't phaze me.
Other people are like throwing up or becking terrile hartmt C. Yeah,
I could do that and a hearty that's no problem.
Speaker 1 (08:09):

That way, right, Big topics, I kind of just wanted
to talk like the general big topic, which is, man,
what is going on in video games? It's all kind
of weird and bad and bad and weird. Xbox raising
(09:13):
the price of game Pass specifically the big number that
that it has a lot of people dropping their jaws
and in you know canceling game Pass is game Pass Ultimate,
the only tier where you still get day one games
from Microsoft, you know, the thing that they made game
passes name on here for a very long time. That
is now thirty dollars a month or in other math,
(09:35):
three hundred and sixty dollars a year, which is more
than what an Xbox Series S costs what it was
priced at when it first launched. I think it's more
than that now by quite a bit. And then the
other thing EA is going private fifty five billion dollar
acquisition by this by Saudi Arabia, and a handful of
other things, but mostly Saudi Arabia. Yeah, it's it's a
(09:59):
lot of this is happening because things are kind of
looking grim for these companies. You know, I think early
early word is Borderlands four is not doing what they
were hoping it would do.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Yeah, we were shocked that Borderlands three, what is the
big success even though it seemed like no one cared
and even Tiny Tina's this you couldn't be like, well,
maybe tiny Tina's will pay for Borderlands three not being
Beloved's no, maybe people just show up for Borderlands anyways.
And oh they're not showing up for Borderlands even. That's
a little disconcerting. It's I is that word wrong, it's
(10:33):
just concerning Excuse me.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah, yeah, concerning disconcerting. Yeah, something disconcerted. You know how
I'm throwing off two. You know, like I think that
Ghost to Yota is going to be a game A
lot of people like, but it's like, man, is that
are people going to show up for that game the
way they did for Ghost of Sushima. I certainly hope so,
But you just get the sense that like a lot
of these games are gonna keep missing and they don't
(10:56):
really know what else to do here, what else they
have to other than raise the prices so the people
who are still buying games they can make more money
from them, or take the Saudi Arabia blood money and
and sort.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Of call it a day.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I don't know, Mike. You know, we can get into
the pretty like gloomy conversations pretty often about the state
of gaming, and overall, I think that is silly because
we are enjoying playing so many video games. I think
I think we just got to like remind people we
can separate us playing video games and being very happy
with most of them that we are selecting because there
(11:31):
are so many good ones to choose from, and the
overall health of the what the gaming business has become,
which is these huge, huge conglomerates trying to take massive
bets and hit huge home runs, and that business just
doesn't seem like it's really working anymore.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I don't know how you feel me that like old
EA and Ubisoft kind of world right where these kind
of triple a's and maybe, you know, sometimes they're not
the top Triple A but there's room for a few
of those, and how is there a room for much
of any of them, even a take two, which so
much of their power is just Grant theft Auto or
(12:07):
just rock Star, right, it's like, well least they also borderlands.
Oh gosh, this borderlands even matter to them anymore? Yeah,
you kind of. I think you mentioned this on Blue Sky.
That's so much of the strategy of these companies is
just targeting the kind of wealthiest ten percent of their
user base. So you just do increase prices as long
(12:29):
as it's acceptable to that group that already shows up
for your stuff anyways, And that's a bummer because there's
going to be no growth in the industry if we
do that, it's going to cut off a lot of people.
It's going to become a more niche, weird, insular hobby
that way. So I don't think that's necessarily a good future,
or you know, just drives more and more people to
(12:51):
things like, you know, the the indies or the smaller companies.
You know, things like the biggest games talked about are
Haites and the Hollow Night might become more of a
common situation as opposed to just PlayStation studios. Next big
thing or of course the next Border of Lands or
you know, EA's next big Star Wars game, things like that,
(13:15):
or you know. So it's it's weird because it seemed
like for a while there things were oddly study. It's like, yeah,
the big players are Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo and you
know the ubisofts EA, Activision take two. These are the
big third party developers. And now that that's finally shifting
in a weird way. Activision got absorbed by Microsoft, and
(13:35):
Microsoft is just kind of being weirder, raising prices all
over the place as they continue to become more and
more unpopular and successful.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
H e.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
A future is completely unknown. Ubi Soft is somehow, like
you know, it almost feels like they're in a better
shape just because we're not talking about them as much.
But knows it's gonna go on with Ubisoft. Still, that's
very much a huge question mark mark Yeah, right, So yes,
a lot of it is just right. There are these
two sides, Like you read all these headlines and you
(14:07):
look at what's happening to the companies, you feel very
bad about the game industry. Then I look at all
the games I played this year that I really liked.
I'm like oh, that's lot of video games. None that
are being made by EA, but there's a lot of
good video games. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
It's like, you know, when I do talk to sources
or talk to some people that are are a little
bit more in the know, it's like we sort of
commiserate for a little bit, and it's like, man, maybe
gaming never should have gotten this big. All of its
problems seemed to stem from it got really big, and
now they're like, boy, we wanted to get bigger, and
it just it feels like it's hitting its feeling. Yeah, yeah,
(14:41):
clearly that's obviously still a huge problem there that that
that sort of signified an amount of growth that was
unsustainable at least in the near term. You know, there
is still this other side of it of like you know,
we talk about you listed those publishers and the big
companies that mattered, and how they're they're they're important has
lessened over time, and I think we point to, well, yeah,
(15:04):
the platforms now are Fortnite and all these other things, but.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Apparently Fortnite that's what matters.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Yeah, But like I guess even Fortnite's numbers are down
right now, which is like, well, and I think that
goes back to that same thing of like only the
top ten percent of people are really spending money. They
used to being get money from everyone. So when they
put out well we talked about this on Game This
Mornings today, when they put out stuff it's Power Rangers,
it is stuff that has an appeal to maybe everybody,
(15:29):
but it certainly appeals to slightly older millennials who might
have somewhat more discretionary spinning. Now most most millennials don't,
but there are more more millennials than gen Z certainly
have money, and it seems like that's the strategy. We're
gonna put o a Daft Punk DLC for Fortnite, some
skins for Daft Punk, try to get this older audience
(15:51):
to spend money because they're the only ones that actually
are now. I think CA Pop Demon Hunters certainly will
solve that.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
So many K Pops Emon Hunters though, right.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Exactly right, Like that's like a unicorn, that's why, Like
as soon as they see that, of course, I bet
the like instantly, the wheels got put in a motion,
the gears got put in a motion to make that
deal happen. Over at Epics, they recognized it for what
it is this unicorn of oh my god, kids will
care about this, and they will really care about it
if it's in Fortnite, And of course we're epic. We
have the capacity to sort of turn that into skins
(16:25):
that we can monetize very quickly relative to anything else
that can capitalize on the success of that. But you know,
it's it just seems like the industry is being hurt
by the overall economic situation and these companies do not
have the stomach to weather at this time. Maybe in
the past they were like they were, you know, a
recession proof or whatever it's like, and technically we're not
(16:47):
even in a recession, although globally we pretty much are.
It's but like you know, the United States, we're not.
But gaming seems to be like kind of getting hit
first this time. And I just think that's because the
industry did stat Nate did it did become those five
big black Hole games, and people have played those and
they're not feeling the novelty or the poll or the
(17:08):
excitement about it anymore. And then these other companies aren't
making games to sort of like challenge them because they
never thought that they could replace them. It's in a
bad place.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Like a person who plays a lot of phone games
or plays Fortnite, A lot of them don't really graduate
too caring about video games, no the way that mean
you do. There's a couple anecdotes actually from today's base
poll game was before I gave a starting, just walking
around and being pretty surprised how many like young twenty somethings,
all of them killing time way for the game. All
(17:37):
of them were playing some kind of junk mobile game.
Right you look at it, it looked like a casino.
It looked like some Classic Clans clone. All of that.
On the drive back and like one of the things
Chris brought to keep his son entertained was it was
like an old phone that had a bunch of games on. Right,
Oh your phone. Yet he was super excited about that.
He doesn't usually get this because it does because he
goes crazy for it. Right like, once he has it,
(17:59):
it's like, oh he cares about he shuts off the world.
At what point he like this behaves lightly? So Chris like,
OKAYU put that down for ten minutes and then I'll
tell you we can play it again. And he was like,
can you instead of that ban me from my switch
to for a week so that I can't you'd rather
have that than go ten minutes right now without the
(18:20):
phone game junk right, So I don't know, it's it
is a little bit like, yeah, the junk foodification of games.
Not that games I've always you know, like no, back
in my day it was high art with Mortal Kombat
and NBA Gym.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
But I'm nutritious there was something there, like, I don't know,
it's like it wasn't perfect this certainly it was still
mostly candy, but it was like made by people who
were considerate of like, you know, we want people to
come away feeling from this, from this game, feeling fulfilled
to a certain degree. Not every game, but there were
a lot of games like that, and that's like bad
business for mobile games. That's like you're not maximizing every
(18:53):
opportunity to play to our most base nature and to
play to the weaknesses of the mind. And that's how
we actually maximize our revenue. And we know how to
do that because we have psychiatrists working for us, psychologists
working for us that know how to manipulate the mind.
Like that's the business. I mean that they hire people
who design slot machines. Now, I'm not like just saying like,
(19:14):
let's go do something about this. How dare they? I
get it? But it's like if that is, it feels
like they sort of dug their own grave a little bit.
They sold the noose that is now being used to
hang the industry. And now this might also just be
my nephew literally failing that marshmallow.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Test, right, that miss down right? I mean, yes, we
get have one marshmallow now or two marshmallows in five minutes, right.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Like yeah, I mean yeah right. But like it's like, yeah,
those games are certainly designed to make it so a
kid is more likely to fail the marshmallow test for sure.
I think, you know, we kind of get to this
point and it's worth pointing out, like these are the
problems of these big corporations, and it's only really a
problem for us if you are looking for a certain
(19:59):
kind of game can only be made by these very
very wealthy, you know corporations. You know, the biggest kind
of shooter, the biggest kind of story narrative, single player
cinematic game, And there are still going to be companies
that make that, and they're likely the ones like Sony
that are the ones that seem like they know how
to keep making that. And then obviously indie gaming has
(20:21):
stepped up in just about every other way. So I
as someone who just if you just we're playing games,
this is mostly not a problem. It feels like a
sort of a market correction, and it's going to hurt
a lot of people who are making games, which is
I think where a lot of the concern comes from
for me, where it's like, oh, man, you know, there
was a report today from I think Aftermath where they
(20:44):
talk to a lot of people who have been laid
off in the video game industry about what it's like
trying to get a job right now, and they came
away from writing that story being like, Oh, it's way
worse than we ever could have even realized to try
to get a job right now. And of course a
lot of that is AI is is like going to
replace many of these jobs in already, is especially anyone
doing any sort of entry level coding. I guess it's
(21:06):
just it's impossible to get a job like that right now,
and that is going to have long term ramifications because
those are the people that make a game, They work
their way up, they become senior developers, They get stock,
the company gets bought out. That stock's worth a ton,
They that their interests vests. They take that money. That
sets them up for life, and they've have a proven
(21:28):
track record shipping games. They get big investments, and they
start a new studio, like say a Respawn. Like, I
don't know if we're going to have a future where
we see a lot of Respawn likes going, you know,
down the road in the next five to ten years.
It's probably gonna be a little bit of a dearth
and then and it will have to be a sort
of thing where like they'll have to be a new
path for people who like making games as a living
(21:50):
to like find their way to success, and they'll have
to kind of like brute force their way in.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
I hope I get a lot more like Sandfall Legs, right,
you know, yes, kind of. You know. The feel good
story this year is that you had people from a
big company they split off and they're smaller, but they're
still able to make games that look like, oh, that
is a big, expensive kind of game that I like. Right,
And you have that you have a thriving indie scene
that's gonna be goodse Yeah. See's like the biggest companies
(22:15):
that are perhaps the most impacted by capitalism are the
ones that are just kind of you know, struggling because
you know, again, the way they're extracting value is not
by competing for making the best product. It's for competing
on new aggressive ways of modernization and creating stakeholder value
by investing in things that makes sickholders happy, like AI. Uh.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
You know, I've said a bunch of times now in
the last week and a half, it just feels like
we're at the end of something. And I don't think
that means the end of gaming. It's just the end
of a certain era for this industry, and uh, one
that was certainly set up. The ending was set up
by the pandemic. And now here we are where all
those dominoes have fallen, and we'll get on the other
side of it what it looks like it'll be very different.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Though sometimes we're criticized a little bit for our you
know there Nintendo love but they just you know, they
seem a little insulated from a lot of that stuff.
They're not completely they no, they have Saudi investments.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Or something near ten percent.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely they're not, but you know, they just
they make very good games still for being such a
big company, which is kind of impressive.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
The difference is like, you know, the Saudi investment, and
it's like, well, you know, so does that the mean
like Saudi Araba is going to go in there and
tell Nintendo what to do. And it's like, no, there's
no chance of that, Like, that's not how it works
when you invest in Nintendo. Nintendo tells investors what to do.
So uh, and that's because they have a strong vision
and yeah, you're right, and they are somewhat insulated, and
(23:45):
that's because they sort of play the long game. They're
they're slow and steady, the tortoise versus all these other hairs,
and it's it's really, you know, again, not perfect, but
it's proving that there is something to be said for
a company that's just going to focus on making good
video games for the most part and deliver that consistently
for years and years and years.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Were you proud of me? I blamed capitalism? Appreciate that,
very proud of us, But good looking out real quick
on that that EA deal.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
They probably aren't going to be around in five years,
that twenty billion dollar leveraged buy out, or you know,
it's a fifty five billion dollars leveraged by out, but
the leverage is twenty billion dollar loan saddled on EA
rated B. That means it's a junk loan, which means
it's going to have very high interest rates attached to it.
This is what happened to Toys r Us. You know,
(24:38):
they are probably going to pay that that money off
and then you know, over time, it's like if one
of these games misses or you know, the most likely
scenario here is that because of these interest payments, they're
not going to be able to make a big new
bet to make the next Apex Apex Legends. They're going
to just have to like keep working with what they
(24:58):
already have, which means it's like we'll keep extending the
life of Apex Legends or whatever, and they will make
enough money here or there, and then eventually something will
go bad and they won't be able to recover from it,
and then it'll be kind of a quick and swift
desk death.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
At that point, it's gonna be around. It's not gonna
matter to them, right Yeah, No, No, have their trillions
of other dollars.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
So I mean the people know that being the people
who are like put this deal together will be paying
themselves bonuses and all these things. Yes, they will come out.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
They're going to find the people at Respawn in BioWare
uh yeah, oh yep. It's not going to be great. Yep.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah. And it's you know, the sort of evidence is
already there. It's like, you know, people are playing at
e sports games still racking out a ton of money. Yeah,
but like the last financial report was like, uh, EFC's
not raking in as much money as we thought it would,
and like that is a very bad sign. If that
happens a couple of quarters in a row, you are
looking in a really tough position for EA overall.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
You know that's gonna do. But they can't. They can't
like find soccer too right. They can only even think
it's still only release one of those a year, yeap.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
You know their answer will be like, let's try mobile again,
because they've not really been able to get any of
those things to really take off on mobile. I think
I think their FIFA game did well for a while
on mobile, but Madden certainly is not like capitalized on
mobile the way that they wanted to. That is something
they said they'll try to do, But it's like if
they could have done it, they probably would have done
it by now. All right, that's the big thing I
(26:25):
wanted to talk with you about. Mike. Let's take a break.
We'll come back, We'll read the super chats. We'll get
in a few other things. We do have a list
we're gonna fix right after this. Okay, we are back
into it, Mike. Let's do those super chats.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
All right? From Nathan Maloney, Is there a world whereas
Mark Dara has suggested, studios like Byware, RESPAWND and Motive
could be stored off with their IP thanks on this
gloomy week as a mass effect fan.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yeah, yes, so I think that in the next couple
of years. Uh, that is a likely scenario where those
studios get sold off with their IP and Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Like you know, there was a time where it was
Microsoft's buying them. Who's buying them? Now?
Speaker 1 (27:15):
This is the question? Yes, correct, which is why it's
like they this won't happen right away. They will they
will wait for it to be a seller's market again,
or at least a little bit more of a seller's market.
Because it's certainly not one right now because people are
not buying. But there there will come a time where
they focus on just EA Sports at this new you
know this under silver Lake in Affinity Partners in Saudi Arabia,
(27:38):
and they'll just do the sports games and then buy
Aware respawn Motive, if you know. For as long as
any of those studios stick around in any real way,
at least the IP will be sold off in a
couple of years. Yeah, I think that's very likely.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Who's gonna get Altima? Does anybody remember that EA still
has Altima? Is that said?
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Sir? What's his name?
Speaker 2 (28:02):
That's Richard? That's Richard Garriott. Richard Garriott, Lord British, Lord British,
that's what it is. Went to space.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Uh huh, he did go to space. Maybe he could
just come back from space and buy Ultimate back. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
I don't think how much might is Lord British.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
He's spent it all going to space.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
I don't know. All the money he ever probably got
was largely from selling his company to e A and
then probably Ultimate Online got him some money. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
He probably he probably got quite a bit of stock.
I bet he's gotten investment still going, but probably not
enough to buy back Ultima.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Probably not, And I don't know what he would do now. Cyran,
Saskatchewan says Anaconda comedy remakes not a terrible idea because
the ninety seven movie was insane. That should have been
a comedy. I bet Christian loves John Voight's paraguanan accent.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Wayne.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I assumed it was scary, he was hokey.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
It's quits cheesy.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
I'll tell you j Loo Oh yeah, j Loo's and Anaconda, Yes,
it's not where that she doesn't seen that song about Anaconda's.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Not that's Dicky, that's Dicky manage. Well done, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Movie cyrus Cat says, can't there be a running counter
for this bike club? Like backcuffs? But it's stead It's
when Dan Asker says insane history comment example Roma's Castle Times.
I mean he brought the Roman's Castle Times. Things happened
so much and I can't Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
It's like it comes at us, like it's like in
such a machine gun pace that I just couldn't keep
up with it or process it anymore. Like we rightfully
got criticized for not remembering the name of the Mexican
American War. But he was just going.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
That part.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
It can't be called Mexican American. That's so stupid, but
it was. It's yeah. I couldn't keep up there.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
There, there's there's so much going on. Look, I was
trying to teach about the War of eighteen twelve. What
a fool's there? And that? Okay, give me a little
bit of a break, you think, But the only question
you can get right about that one is when did
it take place? Let's find out Dan Dan went to
(30:15):
the War of eighteen twelve happened? Hint? Not a trick question?
All right, excellent, here's from Saskatchewan again. Thoughts on Little
Caesar's Cheese Steak crazy Puffs. I owe you two pizzas
though pizza. Sorry, you cant swap one of those for
cheese steak crazy puffs if you want to.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
I might, but we might go with Jets and I
might might talk to Steph. She'll want to do pizza
pizza tomorrow night, so I might cash in right away, Mike,
and look out for it.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
You deserve it. I still want to try Jets dance
at eighteen twelve. Very good, Well, done.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Dan Absolutely, yes, yeah, we will find a way to
get you some jets'.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
I'm so tempted to ask him who the present was.
It's not fair. I don't expect him to know it's fine.
Do you know, Oh you want to try to get
it a guest, get a guess.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
I'm trying to like think, yeah, no, I so that
would be like God, would that be like John Quincy Adams.
Maybe that's a bit too sooner to be John Quincy Adams.
Who was it?
Speaker 2 (31:14):
James Madison?
Speaker 1 (31:15):
James Madison?
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Okay, yes, yeah, if you learn your presence from the
Animaniac song, the verse was James Madison never had a
son any the War of eighteen twelve. Rose Carlossal knows
what's bigger than Pinocchio's. I should learn that song. That'd
be good. It helps. I think Quincy and then you
have Andrew Jackson. Yeah, okay, so Quincy was like right there? Okay,
I wasn't too it wasn't too crazy. Long after that,
(31:37):
I think I think that's right. Yeah. Uh. Next up
is dat Boy Jerry great stream of Mario Gauzy today.
Mike loved it. Listen you listen to jerks. Yeah, you
think you think I don't take this seriously, I didn't
say it. When I'm done here, I am streaming on
(31:59):
Giant Bombs do Super Mario Galaxy too. He's a man
of the people.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Everybody.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
You think this is a game to me? He takes
this shit serious. Show him some suspect. So yeah, after this, uh,
shortly after, I'll get that ready to go. Well, I'm
gonna play some I'm gonna play anyways. I'm super excited.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
I forget I got I download the last night and
didn't get a chance to play it, and I was
sad about that, because boy, I want to play that
game some. Although I started playing pac Man Repeck will
talk about later.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
That game's fun. Holy shit. Also, I'm like, oh, boy,
am I even somehow in more Nintendo jail because I
was at least getting the codes with games came out
that day. I think you have to remind him or
something that you switch jobs, right, That's right. Yeah, I
left the you know, I left the one of those
like auto reply things to tell people where I am now.
But I don't think they care. I think I still
have to actually reach out to them again.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, although there's a chance you're in more Nintendo jail.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Now, yeah, somehow worse. Uh Algre says, what's chef going
to get for his double pizzas? There you go? He said, jets.
Uh yeah, but we at least get some pepperoni on there,
and think of me.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll get a pepper that's the that's
what Emmy really likes, pepperoni and black olows. But you know,
we don't have to do that. U And then yeah,
I don't know what to get for the other one,
probably like maybe a Hawaiian one. I don't know. I
can go for some pineapple on him. Hey man, I
won the bet. You can't know.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
I stopped myself. Thank you. I appreciate saying anything.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
That's you.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Yeah, Mike EULERI says the Cleveland Guardians, so they certainly
weren't guarding home plate. I can't tell that. It's funny.
We got jokes. That's good. That's good, that's good. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
There was so many airs in that series from both teams.
It was crazy. It was kind of all these teams.
These teams played great small ball, they do, but the.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Hell has terrible small It was terrible. We had a
guy who made his BLB debut today. Yeah, his first
career hits like well yeah, yeah, it was fun because
his walk up song was country road, so everybody was
singing it. When it cut off, we were still singing it.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
That's what I'd like that at sporting events. Yeah, he's
the one that like made that grab like while he
was running right at the other guy out an outfield,
right and they almost collided, but he did make the grab.
That was him, right.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
I didn't like that. Did pretty like give him a break?
Everybody there, I know they're professional people, are mistake when
when Catcher, when the outfitters almost collide, I am unhappy, Like,
somebody figure that out. That's not a good look. Do
you ever think about what your walk up song would
be if you were a batter?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Yeah, it would be dirty Work by by Steely Dan. Yeah,
I'm a fool to do your dirty work. Oh yeah,
I would.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Be Snake Man Steam for Mega Man three because it's
got that real punchy beginning. Then you and I'd be like,
don't find a remix, don't find some orchestrated version.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Get the organist out of here. Yeah a bit.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Adam Stein says, go Cubs, Go Tigers. God, I I
love baseball. I've loved it more. I loved that.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
High point with it, and I'm not even actually last
year was much better than this.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Better. You better be an actual Cubs fan and not
just the making me shoot mad because we lost the
World Series of them about gosh, almost ten years Wait?
Was it ten years ago? When was that?
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Was it longer than ten years ago?
Speaker 2 (35:22):
I don't think it was longer. I think it was
ten years ago. I will say I've been to Wrigley
a couple of times. That is a religious experience. I
do like going to Wrigley Field screaming madness? Is What
was the last EA published game YouTube bought? Minus sadly
not Madden, but rather Burnout Paradise R Mastered, which was
a nice five dollars purchase. Uh, I had to buy?
(35:44):
Was it still technical EA game? When I bought that
PS two version of Force and Leash that got ported
to the switch. Maybe that's the EA get money from that?
Me know, we get codes a lot of times like
the last game. Maybe I was excited about was Jedi
(36:04):
Ah not first following Jedi Survivor Survivor, which I didn't
even quite sam.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Me neither Communion to go back then I will, uh,
you know, it was I was you know, I didn't
have to pay for it, but I was excited about
Skate and played it and enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
There's some remind So Dragon Age was last year or yeah,
last year.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
I didn't didn't I didn't touch Dragon Age.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I played a little bit of it.
Uh what fiction does that technically? EA, that's really A
publishes those games. Yes, and it's pretty involved, you know
obviously just all the stuff that they're doing. That Death
Space remake from a year or two ago was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah, that's yeah, there you go. Yeah, they making a sequel,
but it was great.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
There.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
There are a lot of really good developers at eau Are.
They have like I still have Respawn and I wish
they would let Respawn be Respawn. But you know, all
things considered, they have some good developers at that company.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
The boy says, on a flight back from LA where
I watched my Reds lose. Here's a few bucks, so
we can't corucktily pour one out for Ohio Professional Baseball today,
por Tito. That was our you know, your manager was
our manager. He's a good guy. We liked him a lot. Yeah,
that sucks. Yep, too bad.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Yeah, I love Terry Francona's fantastic. I do like it
does feel a little bit like that meme of the
Grim Reaper going door to door and killing one thing
after another. Because the Lions beat the ship out of
the Browns last weekend, and then the Tigers, you know,
just knocked the Guardians side of the playoffs, and then
(37:35):
this weekend that the Lions played the Bengals, which I look,
there's a chance, it's it's football. Anything can happen. I
doubt the Lions are going to lose that game. It's
probably gonna be another bloodbath. So yeah, Detroit kind of
running one over runs find out.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Let's find out when the Pistons play the Cavaliers. Let's
see how that it'd be double or nothing again. So
before pizza is the zero? All right?
Speaker 1 (37:58):
You sure you want to do this?
Speaker 2 (38:00):
No, I don't think I earned it. I don't think
I don't deserve his shots at at nothing. I love that.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
I love to hearing the old stories of them doing
double or nothing. In Flipnick, they had the triple paddle
pong game inside of Flipnick for the PS two, and
they would play this at EGM, and they would, uh,
they would wager on the matches. They would be like
five dollars and then go double for nothing, and like
I guess, like Shoe kept winning against Shane or something
(38:28):
like that, and then Shane ended up ow oweing them
like fourteen thousand dollars because the numbers kept doubling.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
And at the point it's actually a bad thing because
now you're definitely not getting paid. It's like, exactly, no,
it's exactly what happened.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
He's like, look, just give me, like, you know, two
hundred dollars or something like that.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Yeah, right, fun stuff. Next up is from a K
who says, sorry to hear about your guardian's Mikey, but
I'm going to be singing, go Cubs, go so fucking
wowed tonight. Who did the Cubs? I have no idea
what's been really going on in the National League.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
I mean, I know the Dodgers are playing.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
That's fine. Beat that beat the old McDonald's team. They'll
always be the McDonald's team to me.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
The Padres, I think they did beat the Padres, so
that Padres are now so yeah, that's.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
What I'm saying, Go beat them. Yeah, always the old
McDonald team to me get them out of here. Yep,
but that I don't know, a big grudge against McDonald's.
I like McDonald's barbecue sauce. That's a good barbere sauce.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Yeah, you're right, I agree.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Uh, next up, as z Arcs, is this just in
Mike Minatti a big fan of icing. Look, icing means
something very different when you were in your early twenties
in the in the twenty ten's all right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Yeah, it's uh, you know, icy was not too much
of a thing in my friend group, but it happened
a couple of times, but it's not I don't know,
I don't know, kind of missed it.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Most was it was with us, especially, Like there's a
bit where we were like going to some like parties
and events with like people a few years younger than
us even, and they really liked icing.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
I think, yeah, I'm sure everyone did this too, but
our thing was definitely the tapping the beer on, you know,
hitting the hitting the other person's and it's like explodes.
You have to like drink it and chug it. That
we just did that.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
And then in the midst of like my drinking days,
can started becoming much more common than bottles though, so
they're sure. Okay, yeah, a lot more can especially right now,
very not too many bottles anymore. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
I think cans are just accepted, like by brewers to
be better tech, right, They just like cans are better.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Yeah, I fix that easier recycle probably too and probably ye.
Next up is from Drachi Let's go blue Jays, best
team in the country. I do have some affinity for
the Blue Jays. We I think, I said before, we
used to go to Toronto, we go to the SkyDome
and we watch Yeah, we watched Cleveland play Toronto there,
so yeah, I like the Blue Jays. I would not
(40:49):
be upset at all if they went all the way.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, I mean, I think one of the year they
won the World Series was really fun. That's one that
stands out to me a lot. And yeah, I agree,
I would root for them if if it came down
to it.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Kevbought dot Org. You guys have an idea of what
your top five looks like for Game of the Year. Also,
let's go Jay's I'll be blacked out at the Rogers
Center Saturday for Game one. Oh that'd be fun. Yeah,
that's what the Rogers is, what the Skydom was. So yeah,
I've watched those grounds myself before. It's been a while,
but it's a nice place.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
We did this right, like just on a recent episode.
Was it last week or the week before? A little bit?
Speaker 2 (41:27):
I'd mean, look, if I want a hotshot right now,
I imagine my top five is going to comprise, in
some order Claire Obscure, Donkey Kong, Silk Song, Blueprint, like
Haites too, trying to make like there might be some
other things even that I am frighteting Shanobi should won't
(41:49):
be in my top five. I liked a lot, it
won't be my top five.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
I'm just like just throwing you haven't played Silent Hell
f yet. You haven't played and then you're guide them
four Metroit Prime mean of the Hollower Outer Worlds too.
You know these are games that we wrote down. It's
like potential games to enter the list.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Yeah, yeah, I think those five might be pretty but
do pretty good on there.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Yeah, mine mine will be like a Blueprint, Donkey Kong,
uh Clear, Obscure is probably going to be actually be
that high once I finish it.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
About Baby Steps, you really like baby more than that
that was the top five.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
For you, bab. Baby Steps is certainly going to be
top five. Yes, I was trying to think that I
had like one other. It's slipped my mind, right, oh
hate probably, I don't know. I don't think I said
his Silk song. Yes, silk song, Yes, silks song, Heybeus Yeah?
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Uh boy.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
A lot of good video games this year for sure.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
And I'm gonna play Mario Galaxy too. Now, Lassie, it
says Jeff and Mike, what are what are thoughts on Elio?
Or I actually haven't seen it. That's the Pixar movie.
I came at the summer that nobody saw it bombed.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
I thought it looks cute in trailers, but people just
did not seem too excited about it. Once it was out.
I was about to say, I'll Disney Plus it. My
Disney Plus is still canceled, so actually I won't to that.
So yeah, I'll be fine. That's seeing it. At some
point I'll get to it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
I put it on for the girls a few weeks back.
We we pirated it my Dick Disney and we uh
yeah exactly, and we enjoyed it. I thought it was
pretty good. I think it's a really solid movie. I
think it's one that in a few years you're gonna
see get reassessed pretty positively. I think people will be
(43:31):
like a lot kinder to it in a few years.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
The art style kind of reminded me of Luca, and
I really liked Luca, maybe just because it's Italian Lucas.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Fantastic Lucas Soga. That's that was one of ADDIE's favorites.
So we watched it like twenty times. I love that movie.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
I just like the scene of the dad making pesto.
I think about that time. It's like I want to
be that guy. I mean my cacio a pepe the
other day and I was just ye, that looked good.
I was grinding my pepper and my mortar pest on,
like I'm like that guy from from That's Good. Uh,
Matt Maddie five to nine one says Hey, Mike and
(44:09):
my favorite Jeff g That doesn't end in Gersman. I
just wanted to say, I am seven months sober today
and your content helped me more than I can express.
Can I get allowed? Trans rights? Here you go? Trans rights. Congratulations,
trans Prince Reig baby little Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Well we'll always have your back. Thanks for thanks for
hanging out with us. Means a lot that you're in
the community.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Yep, yep, yep. Scott sent five gifted subs by the
way or members. Oh thank you, Scott, Thank you so much.
Scott really appreciate that. Rick Udick says, do you have
any experience with your kids in the next playground. I've
been eyeing one to get for my five year old.
If not, have you had any success getting your kids
to stop saying brah uh? Okay? So I I don't
(44:50):
care about my kids saying bra. I like, you know
all that stuff. God, we said so much dumb shit
as kids that I give them one free reign on
all the bullshit that they say. Emmy started saying sus
a bunch, And I kind of think it's cute when
I your kids say slay I'm one of my needs
to say, says Sleigh constantly. I think it's kind of cute.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
No, but uh, but Steph's always has a drag race
on and we all kind of watch as a family
and they say slay on there all the time. So
surprised the kids haven't started saying that, But I guess
it would just once a YouTuber says it to them,
they'll they'll start, Yeah, I I have a next playground.
Steph does some online deals a lot of times, and
she got a pair of them for free. So a
(45:29):
next playground is let's see, what is the best way
to describe this thing. It is a self contained connect
or PlayStation I that is like a little box that
you set in front, like underneath your TV, and it
has a little stance you kind of point it up
and as a lot of motion control camera games. Now
you can I think you can buy them a la carte,
(45:52):
but you're they clearly just want you to subscribe to it.
And it's like, hey, we'll just kind of put a
bunch a bunch of more games in this library. And
it's a decent price, kind of pay for like six
months at a time or something like that. And I
did it for my kids, and we actually gifted the
one to my wife's nieces and nephews are cousins, second removed,
doesn't matter, And it was nice. It's like, actually a
(46:13):
pretty fun time. You know. It's a lot of basic games,
but it's the kind of stuff that families can really
easily pick up and play. I don't love that it's
a subscription because you play it when the family's together,
and then it sits there unused and you're still getting
charged every month or every six months or whatever it is,
and it's kind of like a hassle to go and
remember to cancel it. But I guess if you, maybe
(46:37):
you're more on top of it with that stuff than
I am, so maybe it would be fine for you.
But definitely try to get it on sale, get a deal.
They practically give the things away. They literally did give
two of them to us away for free, and that
was not part of like my job or anything like that.
They were just giving away to regular people. So try
to get it on a really good deal so that
when you pay for the sub it hurts a little
bit less.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
I like, almost a little weird. I haven't heard of
this because looking at it, I'm like, well, someone just
made a new connect. I guess. You know, they're clearly
marketing it almost more as a toy than as a
game contract. It is sort of in that world between
video games and toys, and it's just like, you know,
I'm struggling to think of another analog to it, but yes,
it's it's not really in our world. It's like it's like, gosh,
(47:20):
you used to go sort of they have like a
weird Star Wars plug and play thing where yeah, that
was like you had a lightsaber and it was like
weird motion games.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
You know. You go to CBS and you see like
the little handheld game consoles they have there or whatever,
and it's like, get pac Man on this. It's like, yeah,
They're like they're selling this to the normies, and I
think it, you know, all that considered, it's pretty well done.
Like it's there's nothing wrong with it. It works as advertised.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
I'm glad that fruit Ninja lives again. Yes, thank you
Rick Utig for joining the Lincolnine appreciate that. Thank you. Dude,
says Nintendo about the patent party style mini games, because
that Lego party game is califun We're playing this tomorrow.
I'm very excited. Dan's excited.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Were you were you and the crew that played it
at Summer Game Festa neither neither. I'm very excited to
play this.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
I do wonder like, who do I like? What pieces
do I pick to play as are just like pre
made like minifigs.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
Or yeah, I don't I really, I don't know. I
really have no idea that I got a code for
this game, did I I need to remember if I
actually like like redeem that, and if I didn't, where.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Is that code? Mine? Saw it and ready to go.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
I'm gonna do that tonight. I want to play with
the kids too, so we'll play tomorrow and then maybe
I'll have I'll have some Jets pizza and play some
Lego party with the kids.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Uh and put video here, says Concrats, I'm becoming Lord
of Giant Bomb. Thank you. Now, wait a second, I
watched that video took Yeah, you took the stairs halfway up?
Speaker 1 (48:51):
I did, Yes, I didn't. I I do not feel
like I cheated at all. It is there for a
reason I have. I'd gone to that point, uh, the
natural way, like fifty times. It was at that point
just sort of a you're going through the motions, there
is a video like there's a cut scene that you
can get by going really up up, you know, up there.
(49:13):
I got that, and I think they even kind of
like gesture towards the shortcut at that point the game
wants you to take it. I mean I really just
wanted to like get that last few steps and practice
that I could go back and do it for real
and I would be fine at this point. But yeah,
I don't feel bad about it at all.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Right, as long as you can live there for yourself,
that's fine. I definitely can Alex Pisa, congrats, Chef. But
as a lifelong Mariners fan, we are now rivals for
the next week. I know very little about the Mariners
this season, really, so I neither it's going to play out.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
Is each row still playing for him? Probably?
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Right, of course? Right, they got Griffy Stough and his son.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
I think I was about to like make a dad
like a senior joke.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
Yeah, that's good stuff, like thank you, thank you. Uh,
you should get the guy a video game? Yeah, crazy
Ted dere says, what does a woke game like the
Sims also a huge money maker look like in this
new EA, it's a very inclusive game, and I'm scared
they'll lose that. Like it's like it's so weird. So
you can see them not wanting to touch Sims, but
(50:24):
you can also see them being like, hey, we maybe
a same sex couple shouldn't be getting married and Sims anymore? Right,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
Yeah, you could, you could see that happening.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Yeah, you know, I don't.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
I don't want to be like, well, it's it's just
so much easier not to mess with these things. We've
seen that, you know, sort of like a hands off
approach is not the way things have gone lately in
a bunch of different arenas. So yeah, anything's possible. They
could come after a game like that and try to
walk it down and make it.
Speaker 4 (50:54):
Yeah, these motherfuckers can't help themselves. Like look what happened
on the with the Carl with the City of the Wall.
They literally put a motherfucker. I was friends with the
Saudi Prince ships because they wanted it. So who knows
what they're gonna do with all the EA stuff.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
Yep, anything anything could Like anything's possible, Like they could
do anythings, and that means mostly negative things, I would imagine.
All right.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Next up here is from our grug. If we all
pour the money together, I think we can raise the
five hundred dollars to buy the IP rights to Ultima.
Thanks for being a distraction in these weird times. Damp
Image put up another video on his Ultimate retrospective. It
was like the standalone sequel to Ultima seven. It's like
(51:42):
just three hours and I'm not probably never gonna play
that game, but boy, I love watching him talk about it.
I'm like, boy, this is what an ambitious but flawed
all uh computer RPG looked like at nineteen night four.
And that was like right after EA bought them. So
it was the first time EA medaled in Altima. Uh,
you know, one of the first times you saw EA
(52:02):
medaling at its finest. This really interesting stuff, the story
tellery of EA's meddling.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Yes, it began there.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
Yeah, it was really weird because he's you know, talking
about Trip Hawkins there and all that, and that video
came out a little bit like the day before the
EA news happened and Trip Hawkins Trip Hawkins three d O.
It's gonna be a big thing, Wookie riot. That's with
everything going on in major video game studios. It just
reinforces the track I've been on lately, support indie dev's
(52:32):
and studios.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Look, you know, support indiev studios. I appreciate this, this
this idea. Just play indie games. It's not your job
to support anyone else.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
Like, like, you know, if you want to enjoy something,
if you want to show up for people.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
You should. I certainly do, but if you want to
just be selfish and say I just want to play
indie games, I just want people to get over this hump.
And I think obviously this audience has of thinking indie
games aren't real games. But I'm surprised at how many
like YouTubers I'll listen to who are like completely bummed
out about the state of games because they aren't even
considering stuff like Haites, like that's not even on their radar.
(53:09):
And it's like, that's crazy, guys. You got to get
over that. And again, I know this audience.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
Has it's so weird. There was I think you talked
about some Games Mornings, as you know, you kind of
mentioned the idea of, you know, maybe, uh maybe people
should be specing their games for you know, if not
the switch to at least a base PlayStation five instead
of the place to VI Pro, and people get upset
when you say that. It's like, guys, look around, right,
and you know, look around. You mentioned like these games
(53:33):
aren't even running well because they're being designed for imaginary
platforms that barely even exist, right, nobody has the machine
that developers or studios are imagining. Some of these games
running on right now. Clearly it would be better to
just make the game look good on switch To, and
of course it will naturally look better on the better consoles.
(53:55):
It might not have AK resolution, Trey ray trace and
who's he what's I don't know.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
But that's the thing with the switch Too, it would
because it supports ray trays and it has four K.
It's uh, you know, you don't have to like go
crazy with it. But I think that's the point. Don't
go crazy with that stuff. Let's just scope that stuff
back and get creative instead. I don't know, it's game.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
It's weird, all right. Next up is from J. D.
Camp says Mike, please support Big Dumper.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
Yeah, Mike, why don't you support Big Dumper?
Speaker 2 (54:31):
Is that cal Riley? Oh it's a mayn. This is
a Mariners, their catcher, the big I mean, I'll tell
you what, if.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
Like, their catcher's the only one with a big ass,
come on.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
If they're If they're Big Dumper agrees to come on
the voicemail dump Truck, then I will support the Mariners
in the rest of the playoffs. About that, God, it's
a good nickname. Next up is from Raymond octall Is
The Outer World's Two Cursed was almost eight dollars now
game pass price increase hits when a few weeks before launches,
(55:03):
I had to say, if I keep forgetting that The
Outer Worlds Too was still coming out this year, I
just I just can't imagine how this game's going to do.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
Jeff, I think it's all gonna rely on the reviews
I think of the game is a very high eighties,
you know, and gets a lot of praise, it'll be
just fine anything else.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
It's like, it's gonna be so easy for that to
get lost in the shuffle. Even like a Vowed was
you know, low eighties, and that just was not enough
to really get people to kind of care about that
game in a more meaningful way. Right.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
It's a game that a lot of people enjoyed, but
those are the people who played it, and that it
just doesn't feel like that was a ton right.
Speaker 2 (55:40):
It's like I could totally see it being a great
video game. It just yeap, gosh, it does not seem
like anyone's talking about it. That part of it is
because it's getting overshadowed by a lot of more negative
Xbox news right now, yeah, like have fun being xboxes
next big release right now? Isn't that nice?
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Yeah? That sucks?
Speaker 2 (55:58):
Denocratic says, I hate baseball signed by an Angels fan.
You just gotta yeah, you's gotta see an angel, right.
They do a lot of Angels in the outfield references
at that park. Still, like, I hope that they show that,
like live in his arms constantly give me Christopher Lloyd
being an Angel? I want all that stuff was that?
Speaker 1 (56:17):
You know, I know Disney owned the Ducks and then
they got out of the business pretty soon, But did
they own the Angels?
Speaker 2 (56:22):
Is that what happens? They were something angel because their
their field is pretty close to Disneyland. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
totally yes.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
I mean they made Angels in the outfield for a reason,
like yeah, like yeah, So I just wonder what the
relationship was there, And I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
I don't think there's anything right now, but I can't
remember what itever was. Okay, So one freemancis. Have you
guys ever tried the keyboard slash and mouse uh made
by Glorious Thoughts on higher end mice and keyboards. Ol,
It's I've never done anything fancier than like whatever the
pretty like the kind of nice ish Razor or Logitech
(56:58):
model is like, I have a lot to tech. Who'sy
what's it right now that I like a good amount?
What is it? It's the G eight one five CLICKI
and it's not that clickie. I don't want them to
be too CLICKI I'd never done like a boutique one
or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Let me look here, I'm gonna take a look at
this glorious keyboards. Let's see here. I don't know, I
can't like look at him. Oh they have like halifect sensors. Okay, yeah, No,
I've not done much either, you know. I I would
like reviewed these things for a while. So I got
sent a ton of like Logitech stuff, a lot of
Razor stuff, and I got a bunch of like unopened
(57:38):
ones because they would send me duplicates sometimes. So I
just got a bunch of my closet that I'll like.
When one breaks, I just pull out a new one.
So I kind of have not been in the market
for any of these, although I do feel like I
might be getting close to buying a pretty good keyboard
looking maybe looking at that, but I'm at a point
where it's like maybe I'll just have a backgar. Make
me one that would make him happy, you know, make
(57:59):
me yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Uh, I'm looking at these and look, this is a
boomer thing. It must be. I am not buying a
keyboard that doesn't have a numb pad.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Oh no, I think that's fine. I get that. Yeah,
but I mean that you're like the ten keyless. The
tkls are very popular right now. That's the trend. Mic.
I am using one that is ten keyless. I do
have the eight it dough keypad that is separate Bluetooth,
and I like that. But my next keyboard will have
a numb pad.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Yeah, I just uh, I just like using numbers that way.
I say, they have some glorious does. There's one that
looks like it's a beach, and that one has a
numb bad on it. So I kind of like this
one that looks like a beach. That's fun.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
How does that look like a beach? What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (58:42):
I'll show you here else, I'll put it in our
booty boys. Shat, it looks like a beach. Here, I'll
just copy the and now you have to look at
the web page. Here. It's a it's a beach themed keyboard.
Speaker 1 (58:55):
Let me see.
Speaker 4 (58:55):
What the fuck are you even talking about?
Speaker 2 (58:57):
Look at I put the link. It's a beach keyboard.
Speaker 1 (59:02):
Okay, any other super chats did you?
Speaker 2 (59:05):
Did you look at it? I have to.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
It's gonna take me a second to get it because
I can't go on the discord. I have to get
another discord window open up on Opera so I can
see it.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
Winking chat. I want you to see this key ship.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
Oh ship that looks like a beach.
Speaker 4 (59:20):
I think the Lincoln is no loading, it's this beach is.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
Racist backlisted and then country mostly a beach. It's so thin,
it's like got all that coastal wine. First thing I
think you may think of that.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
Chill.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Oh my god, Jili my bad countries look alike, Wow,
what the hell? How much beach do you guys have
a little bitch? All right?
Speaker 1 (59:57):
That does with the super chats. This is the big one,
a top all right, everybody, we'll be right back. We're
gonna take one more break, at least one more break.
When we come back, we are going to likely fix
a list. We're also going to try to guess what's
even on the list. We'll be right back, everybody. All right,
(01:00:18):
we are back. We are gonna do. Uh, we're going
to fix a list. I'm Jeff Grub. That's Mike Minati.
Christian is going to be helping us out here. Christian,
what do we have?
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
All right? The year is the two thousand and thirteen
in December. The site Gaming Former is written by this guy,
Tim Tim turi Arm. Do you know him?
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
I don't know a piece of show.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
Yeah, And he made a list a top ten video
game pistols because that's the only list I could find
that you say, Gaming Former, So that's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
So all right, remember this is twenty thirteen, and.
Speaker 4 (01:00:59):
It's time to what's the top ten video game pistols? Specifically?
Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
Okay, hmmm, Parties like can I are there ten pistols
that I think are so distinct that they could be
on this list? Uh? Jeff, the Halo pistol must be
on there. I think the Halo pystal must be on there.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
So I think, well, this right side here will be
our our guesses, the Halo pistol. Should we just try
to make the list and then and then compare it
to the final list and then go for Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
You wanna you wanna?
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Yeah, you wanna make you want to make that west
the Halo pistol for you, like the position will you
where will you put it?
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
We'll throw it up here for now and then we'll
like we'll adjust things as we used to. But I yeah,
or should we just guess now and see if it's
on there?
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
I can't guess it until I know what the other
ones are, so yeah, let's get them. Let's fix. Let's
fix get ten.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
I'm gonna say the Golden Gun.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
Yeah, ship, that's my other one. Yeah, okay, well, okay,
like here's my ques. I know I know that Temporary
likes Mega Man. Is he gonna consider the Mega buster pistol?
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Probably not? But I mean I like that you're thinking
about the writer because I think that's important for one
of these. Maybe it's more important than some other editors
cases than Tim Turry. But uh, I mean, look, I'm
gonna write it down for now, and if we pop
it off.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Then we pop it off. Okay, So ah buster, there's that,
go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
I was gonna say, the is it a Desert Eagle
encounter strike? Is that? Like?
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Yeah, the Desert Eagle is definitely probably gonna be on there. Okay,
that's the that is the counter strike pistol. That is
a a good call.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Okay, I'm writing down like I want.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
To think of and pistols. I think of the doom pistol.
No one likes that thing. It's what you you're left
with it. You don't want to have to use the
do you You were desperate for shotgun ammo at that point,
even the next weapon you'll get after the pistol, the shotgun,
you can kind of rock that for most of that game,
it's still always very good. The pistol kind of just sucks. Yeah,
(01:03:14):
but should we just put it on here? And I
think why I put it on there? Anyways?
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
All right, okay, let's see here. Just is it doom pistol?
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Yeah, just the doom pistol, I know they call it,
so I think this is called a pistol.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
I know I already have the Golden Gun, but I
can only think of another James Bond one. The PP seven.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
That's you said PP.
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Yeah, I did say PP and then a seven which
makes it sound like a size. So yeah, the PP
seven that's you know, it's kind of famous. I'm kind
of hoping that'll be on there. Oh Okay, I see
a good one in chat. What what?
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Uh? What is Snake's pistol? Gosh, it's the MK twenty two.
I think it's the MK twenty two. This is kind
I can't remember that's the Silence one or the not
the silencer one. But there's a metal here, solid pistol,
uh that I think is relatively popular of his.
Speaker 1 (01:04:10):
Now, Christian, you you said that we would definitely want
to fix this list. Is it way more absurd than
we are even being so far?
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
Uh, there's some absurd stuff for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
Okay, okay, you know what, there was a couple of
weapons that we mentioned when we were doing are the
Best weapons? Like Red seven? Is that the one from
Resident Evil?
Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
For Yeah, the Red seven? That's I think that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
I like that one a lot, and I'll actually kind
of be upset.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
It's not on there on the on the Capcom train,
Red nine, Red nine on the Capcom train. The Ivory
and Ebony. That's Dante's right, Oh right, okay, Ebony and Ivory,
Ebony and Ivory. Okay, little hot tip from Dan Reiker,
one known associate attempt hurry. It was a big Resident
(01:05:01):
Evil guy.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
So okay, all right, okay, Uh, well, let's see what
else is it in Resident Evil?
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Well, how many more pistols can there? But I guess
there could be more. Mmmm, there's probably more, But it's
like I can't think of anything anything that jump out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Is there one that's like I feel like there's one
that's like named after a.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Sword, named after a sword like something called Excalibur or
something like well.
Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Like like Samurai something, But I can't. I don't know.
I'm just like, Okay, let's not if we can't, if
neither of us can remember it, it's probably not on there. Okay,
let's see if we come up with anything. Samurai Edge,
Samurai Edge that does sound that's I mean, that's okay,
(01:05:51):
that's I think that's from Resident Evil.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
That's what I think. That's what I was trying to remember. Okay,
I see, I'm gonna write Samurai Edge that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
Now, or Christian. If I just like started naming generic
handguns with.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
That, like, I bet they're gonna be like the mouser
from Medal of Honor.
Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
It's probably not or is it gonna be glock like
it's just gonna be alot.
Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
No, no, no, no, this is our specific pistols from games.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
Okay, okay, all right, what other games? By the way,
that's all. It's thake that that pistol is the the
Mark twenty three, So calm, that's what I want for Mark.
Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
You know what it got me?
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
It got me, uh the uh this is the one
that I saw in Chat earlier and ash Guy just
put in there. So it's twenty thirteen. Was the smart
pistol in the original Titan Fall?
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
It was, Yeah, it was a it was a normal
weapon in that one. It was overpower and I loved it.
So yeah, smart pistol is probably. Here's another one that
I like from Chat quite a lot, is then E. S. Zapper.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Oh that feels like something a magazine editor would do
for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Yeah, that sounds like something a real piece of shit
and off would do.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
Yes, that fucking wanker.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Yeah, absolutely. Okay, this is one thing, Jeff.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Remember titan Fall was twenty fourteen.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
It was not a watch game. What shit?
Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
I thought it was like, gosh shit, I thought I
thought it was like December twenty three.
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
It was early the next year.
Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
Well, I'm gonna I'm leaving it up there. I know,
you know, I just like it on the list, and
we're gonna keep it there from when we fix the list,
So there you go. Yeah, otherwise there are too many
post one post twenty thirteen pistols I think I care about.
Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
Yeah, hm, hmmm, what what is Shadow of the Hedgehog's
fucking pistol? I'm gonna look it up, all right, Yeah,
look at it. Yeah, there's nothing, there's no rules against that.
That's Shuttle the Hedgehog. The weapons and Shadow.
Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
Was March eleventh, twenty fourteenth. Can't you Marino? Holy shit?
I thought he was twenty thirteen? For sure.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
You want to know the name A Shadow of the
Hedgehogs and a pistol? I done.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
I don't want to know it, but look, that's the
job sometimes. What is it, Mike pistol?
Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
Bullshit?
Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
Oh my god, you don't fix the name of that
medal girl, solid gut. I still feel like a fake fan.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
Wait was that not the Mark twenty three? So come
replacing the MK twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
I'm sorry, I thought I when I looked, Oh, I'm
just really far behind this face.
Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
It's MK dot twenty three, not like Mark is the
first name? Job?
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Well, no, that looks shut up right? Oh oh oh Okay,
a couple questions, Oh now far fy eight, Oh, I
don't play gonnacounts a pistol now, even if that doesn't
lightning and thirteen just straight up used pistols. But I bet,
(01:09:06):
I bet, I bet it's going to be the gun
bite although oh the Rochi Drochi to Rochi. I like
this one. Okay, poker for PERSONA three, that's the one
the kids used to shoot themselves in the head.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
That's right, that's cool. Yeah, okay, a voker. Do you
want to put any of those other ones on the list?
Do you want to put gun blade up there?
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
Let's put gun blade although yeah, Treashman's right, you know,
also use them in next to use pistols, but like
they're not bespoke pistols. The gun blade's cool, And I
bet story might be like, that's a that's a pistol.
It is designed like the handle looks like a pistol handle.
It looks like a pistol handle, even though the gun
actually doesn't even shoot bullets. It's just like he just
actually pushes that thing to the sword. It's very stupid
(01:09:54):
but cool.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Oh. Dan's got a bunch of lists that he did
for game in former top ten annoying, the top ten
first person shooter campaign levels. We'll get to some of
those eventually.
Speaker 4 (01:10:03):
Down day we'll fix Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
Do you think the plasma cutter is gonna count as
a pistol?
Speaker 1 (01:10:09):
I don't know. I feel like it's I feel like
that wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
I feel like it doesn't. I think that's definitely not
a pistol to me.
Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
Yeah, okay, I think we're we probably have a list
that we can work with so far. What is dad reconsent?
Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
I also have a doc for top ten Jonah moments
in which I list levels or your inside wells, Dan
does it? Did you guys remember King's quest for or
is that just the me problem? I know that? Or
Kingdom herts one can marts one has to be there
for the love of God.
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Service Weapon from Control would be on the new list
for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
Yes, yeah, Service Weapon would absolutely be on the newer list.
So maybe if we won't put that on this when
we do our list, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
Uh oh foh ooh.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
The Fox McCloud laser pistol from Smash Brothers. Uh, I
don't know, maybe put on maybe we'll think about it.
Otherwise it might be good.
Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
Okay, uh, here's what we have so far. Halo Pistol,
Golden Gun, Megabuster, Deegle, Doom Pistol, PP seven, Mark twenty three,
so com Red nine, Ebony and Ivory, Samurai, Edge, Smart Pistol,
nes Zapper pistol, the Gun from Shadow, the Hedgehog, Evoker,
(01:11:23):
gun Blade, and Fox McLeod Laser pistol.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Okay, here's why I think we should instead of like
fumbling try to guess what their order is, let's let's
just hear the list now. Let's see how many of
them look three to one market if it's one we
would have predicted, and then we'll go around ordering ours.
How about that? Okay, yeah, I don't know if I
fully follow exactly what you said, but christ will say, like,
here's what number ten is, and then we'll see if
(01:11:45):
we even guessed it, and we'll mark okay, point for us,
and then so on and so forth, and then we'll
look at the whole list.
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
Okay, sounds good, right, all right, So Christian take it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
Away, starting with number ten, the h E four magnum
from rics S three.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
I was going to about resistance three at that time.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
I was just going to say the word magnum, but
it was like, no, if it's not like, that's too stupid,
I'm not just going to say that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Oh my god. Okay, did you be transcribing these onto
your spreadsheets?
Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
You hear them?
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Yes, let me do that here.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
Let's see right here, that's a big resistant three guys,
says Time Raker, and.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Whoa, yeah, that's hard. I can't only fault in for this.
A lot of people are for these people every time.
I shouldn't resistance people get mad. You're like, oh, resistance
was great.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
Listen, it was okay, but it wasn't like great all right.
Number nine Pistol time Crisis series.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
That's pretty good action.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
That's good. Okay, that's a failing on our fault that. Yeah,
crisis is always really cool with the pistol in the
the archaic for sure. Yeah. You know what's called the
gun con like these, that's only the one you bought
for home was the gun con right, Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
I mean I like thinking about the gun con a lot,
so we should have thought of this.
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
I never played that game on okay, so I had
no recollation.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
I just played it a good recoil.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
That Chad says more like resistance three out of five.
Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
Number eight, the A g M nine from Far Cry
three Blood Dragon A g M five A A dout
J dot M dout nine.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Okay, three you can just say the Far Far the
Blood Dragon pistol. Jo. I like Far Cry three Blood
Dragon a lot. I don't remember anything specific about the
pistol in it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
Yeah, man, I see now now why Christian was like
this was from twenty thirteen. This is a very twenty thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
List so far. I mean, I guess not Time Crisis.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
But still Number seven from GoldenEye, Hey we got one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Let's go nice man. I was even like, well we're
doing a second one from go on, I you were
a smart man. Smart man is.
Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Actually the probably the better answer.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
Number six the gumble At from Final Fantasy eight.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
That's great. It shouldn't count, but we cut him off.
Speaker 4 (01:14:19):
I don't think you can to be I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
Think it's yes at all.
Speaker 4 (01:14:23):
Number five, the plasma cutter from Death Space series shouldn't count.
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
We should get the pistol. Why because it's like small,
it's not a it's a it's a tool. It's not
even a pistol. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
This alright, This is my Yes, this is gonna be
like alright. Number four, M nine Tranquil Life set again
from Metal Gear. So only two sons of liberty.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
All right, I just give me one of these. I
was wondering if it's gonna go shrink.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
The train came from from Sony in middle here Sony three.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
What well it's three. You have to like, uh manually
get silence. Thanks for barrels. I don't know, maybe around
that aspect annoying Wow records.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
He thinks Tim gave Dead Space three and nine point
seventy five.
Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Great, that's not funny.
Speaker 4 (01:15:25):
I'm a mark for those games, and even I'm like
that's too much. All right. Number three, Top three everybody,
Ebony and Ivory from deb.
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Good job. That's another one. But so far we've gotten
three of these. Yeah, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Number two M six g p W P d w
S the Halo Combat Evol Pistol okay, the Halol alright,
just what the whole name?
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
I okay? I think I think the Desert Eagles is
going to be number one. I don't know, Cia cut
of shake guy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Yeah, I mean, like there's a chance it's it's the
Red nine.
Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
If it's the Mega Buster. I'll tell you what, Mega
Buster back on the table with freaking the plastica cutter
in here to make it as though.
Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
Do you want to like do a band or something?
Do you want to like?
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
It could be right, it could easily be the Red nine, right,
it could be true.
Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
It's not what he wants to do. The number one
is your correct chef, is the Red nine from Every Girl?
Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
All right? All right, yeah it's a great gun. It
really is. It really is.
Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
See the beginning of the list kinda shake you with
that resistance free and like you know, the far cry.
But then he kind of it's.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
Very much of the time.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
Yeah, yeah, I mean he kind of did what we
did right, Like he's I bet Red nine was the
reason he wanted to do this list, and he's like, oh,
there's the Halo, Pistol and Ebony and Ivory, and that
was like, I don't come up with seven more. I
don't know. That's that's definitely what this list feels like
for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
The only one he added that I'd be like we
messed up by forgetting about is the time crisis. Pistol. Yes,
does in fact rule? I agree, absolutely?
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
Okay, So so what do we want to do. Now,
do we want to like kind of combine our list
take his right there and kind of go and kind
of number our lists.
Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
Let's let's keep Time Crisis pistol. Let's keep those five
that we both had. Let's get rid of the other
ones and slought in some new ones.
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
Okay, all right, well then let's go ahead and just
delete this wait plasma cutter of course. Okay, plus count.
You know what, we both had it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
Delete the gun blade that doesn't count. We guessed it
might be there, but no, no gun blade.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
All right, hang on, let's see here.
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
I see, I saw you type v in instead of control.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
There is that. Okay, So now we have a red
nine halo pistol, ebony and ivory pistol from Time Crisis
in the PP. Seven. All right, we have five slots
left then, Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
Uh yeah, I think that so we're not constrained by
time anymore. So I think that the smart pistol, I
think a smart pistol is there. Absolutely can go in
there now.
Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
Yeah, smart. The full name is a smart pistol Mark five.
I think it's one from tit to four.
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
So we can absolutely do that.
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
Now that that's so much fun m hmm.
Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
I mean, look, if we're doing the Time Crisis gun,
I think we should do the Zapper as well.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Okay, I like it, Yeah totally. I mean, you know,
I you know, I guess it would have to be
the gun you're holding, because there's no like gun physically
or like like rendered in the game, right, so it's
like just talking about the Time Crisis pistol you're holding.
So yeah, it's definitely the Zapper, all right, And yes Zapper.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Yeah, I've got a couple more I feel strongly about,
but I want to make sure you get a chance.
Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
I mean, like, honestly, the smart pistol would be like
the one in the Red Nine. Like I have the
ones that I carry any sort of torch for on
this list already, so you know, I could pick some
off here, but I don't feel strongly about any of them, Mike.
So if you feel strongly, let me know.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
A voker for PERSONA, absolutely right, that makes sense. Yeah, Yeah,
then honestly, the Desert Eagle I think I would I probably.
Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
Ego would have been the one I would have I
would have called out for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Yeah, three, four, five six, I think we've won more
two three four, five, six, seven, Yeah, one more has
to has to get in there. Hm hm oh the
pistol from some shout out the hedgehog.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Hell yeah, okay, perfect of course.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Uh okay, wait we never we didn't Okay, as funny
as the joke one would have been. We didn't get
that control pistol on here.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Huh oh right yeah, okay, service weapon, yes, good point.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
As funny as that would have been. Damn it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
We could still drop something else I don't know, is
like I guess iconic, but I don't necessarily love it
or anything like that. But all right, all right, so
do we want to reorder this now?
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Sure, but let's talk to you. Let's I want you
to reorder it based on your feelings right now. All
I will say is the evoker sure is pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
Okay, Well let me do this.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Let's all right, everybody, Let's see we got here. He
appears a voker up to the second place position, moving
down just below that is the smart pistol Mark five
service weapon under halo pistol, but above Ebony and Ivory
at the going all the way down to the bottom
of list at the moment under the degal that's seven
(01:20:37):
at number ten, degal A number nine, Andy a Zappa
at number eight. Are they going to hold these position?
Jef seems pretty please with themself. Let's see what he's got. Everybody,
all right, go ahead? Figured aay okay at number ten
from Going and I the penis seven from counter Strike.
(01:21:00):
The Desert Eagle also knows the degal at number number
eight is the nes Zapper. You may remember it from
Duck Hunt. Number seven is the pistol from Time Crisis,
very cool stuff. Number six from Devin May Cry. It's
(01:21:21):
a two for one deal. They're always seeing together. It's
ebony and ivory everybody. At number five from Control it's
the service weapon, which could be more than a pistol,
But honestly, I mostly like it in that pistol form,
even after I get all those other ones. Number four,
I don't care what its real name is.
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
You know it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
I know it as the Halo pistol. Number three from
Titan Fall. It's the smart pistol. Mark five. At number two,
you aim at your head and a monster comes out
and it fights the nightmare demons. It's the Evoker from
Persona three. And still at number one from resident E Before.
(01:22:00):
It is the red nine. I think that this is
a much better list.
Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
Christian, could you do me a favorite?
Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
Can you screenshot the list and screenshot the game and
former list and put that into the discord and then.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
I'll tweet it out later, skewed it out later.
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
All right, good work here, Mike. I feel good about this. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
I think that that was a lot of fun. I
did enjoy Tim Turney's list.
Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
I love these kind absolutely, Yeah, especially like having the
context of like when it happened that something about that
makes it even more fun, Like, man, what were people
thinking in twenty thirteen, and like of course it's like
hard to do that, but then getting surprised, but what's
on their resistance three? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
That's fun. That's a good time. I did Mark ol
when he actually had the gun blade on there. Yeah, yeah,
let's go called out, all right, fantastic. I chose back
to you.
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
I suppose all right, Yeah, well, let's take one more break,
we'll come back. We'll clean up some super chats after
we talk about what we've been playing. We'll see you
all right after this. All right, Mike, we're back. I
want to know what have you been playing?
Speaker 2 (01:23:17):
Yeah, a lot of Hades too. Actually, I've taken out
Cronos three times now, haven't made it to the final
boss of the Top Side yet, So I'm try to
figure out if I just want to do more Chronos runs,
maybe put on some of those modifier things down there,
if I want to start maybe brute forcing the Top
Side a little bit. Unlocked that last weapon, like if
(01:23:37):
I had a slight criticism was and these are all
good weapons, none of them really speak to me like
a really exciting way, but I like that last one
a lot, So that may be like the game even more,
especially you know, in all the great characters, and it's
like that thing in Hades one where you just keep playing, like, man,
there's still new dialogue options. When I see all these people,
that's great, and having that happening again here it's still
(01:24:00):
actually pretty impactful.
Speaker 1 (01:24:02):
Yeah, I'm I'm ready to like get really back into
Hades two. I like played it a bunch when it
like first one to one point zero and then went
back to baby Steps. Now that I'm on the other
side of the Man Breaker, it's like, Okay, let's open
it back up to all these other games. I'll be
playing a lot of Haites too, And that's fantastic, fantastic
thing about that is just that cloud support. So it's
like if I have the switch or I have the
(01:24:22):
Steam Deck, whatever I'm playing, I could just pop it
onto either one. Ready to go? God, what a just real,
real solid game is it? Where do you feel like
you're landing in terms of a need to complete it,
to get credits, to get to get a real ending,
Like where what are you feeling?
Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
I want to get the real ending? Like in Haites one,
there was kind of two main jumping off points. I mean,
one maybe if you only cared about beating the final
bustle one time, but that game in this game also
make it pretty clear like you're supposed to do that
bunch of times. So like in Haites Won, there was
the reconciliation, but then there was also this bit where
you kind of like I had to invite all the
(01:25:01):
gods back home for a party, and that's kind of
like the last big story event you could unlock. Anyways,
I assume there's an equivalent of that here. Yeah, so
I want to I want to do that. That's kind
of where I want to see through you.
Speaker 4 (01:25:13):
Assume correctly, there's a more stuck Okay, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Cool, yeah, looking forward to playing a lot more that
you into anything else. I mean, we know you're gonna
playing some Super Mario Galaxy to tonight, anything else on
the switch or anything.
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
Gosh, that has really been the big thing lately, you know,
except you know. Sunday, I randomly played through King's Quest
one because I just I was needed a break from
worrying about twenty twenty five. I was like, I was
gonna spend the day played this game from nineteen eighty
four instead. Uh, and I had a pleasant time doing that.
I did check out ooh uh over on the Mega
(01:25:51):
Man Block and Giant Bomb when this This was recommended
by some of our audience as well. This is kind
of a Metroid brainya, as they say, a two D
kind of puzzle platformer thing that's really neat, has all
sorts of fun inspirations like Bomberman in there. Somehow. You
can play through it in a couple of hours, and
it's just a really good puzzle game that will make
(01:26:12):
you feel smart. Isn't going to be too frustrating, I think,
so I recommend that one. It's pretty cheap it's like
ten bucks normally. I think it's on sale a couple
bucks off even so I think people should check out ooh,
and that is available on Steam. I, like.
Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
I said, I kind of just booted up pac Man
two or pac Man World to repack just to see
how it feels. And it feels really good. So I'm
gonna be playing quite a bit more of that just
to like. I don't know, I never really played those games,
and you said it was like a big rental game
for you. I never really spent much time with it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
It is like, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
It has that thing where you jump up in the
air and there's a circle that goes around pac Man,
and when it closes around them, you press the jump
button again and you sort of like do a sonic
like slam and then you bounce back in the air
and you can keep doing that. That just ooh, that's
a really cool mechanic.
Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
I like that a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:27:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
I remember being really surprised how good pac Man World
too specifically felt. I would read that a few times
and really enjoyed the first one. Is because the first
one is a PS one game. The Segon one was
like a game Cuber game. The first game is also good,
but I really like the second one. The third game
was gosh, that one that one I most remember because
they gave pac Man a voice. It kind of hilariously.
(01:27:23):
They just made him sound like the most average twenty
nine year old dude, like an I kind of like
the characterization of pac Man in that game a lot.
I think most people don't, but I find it kind
of interesting. But yeah, I hope they do a REPAC
three as well. REPAC two is so thing I want
to get to. It's kind of it's a little hard
(01:27:43):
to find the time to do it right now. Now
I have I have Tactics ready to go on my
switch to and I started up yeah right, very excited
about that. But you know, also got Galaxy too now
as well, and Trails in the Sky actually got ready
to go. I bet Tros in the Sky maybe this
mega Man, I'll be like, hey, I'm gonna at least
see the first two hours of Chosen the Sky. Thanking
out for that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:03):
Yeah, I started up Tactics. It, you know, plays really awesome.
It really does have the positional gameplay that I'm into
from these games. It. Yeah, I think God Seeing Final
Fantasy tactics screenshots and maybe some video somewhere, but maybe
it was like magazine ads that had the screenshots of
the Chocobos like running through the water under the bridge
(01:28:25):
or whatever, and like the early fm V that was
always so iconic to me. It really stuck with me,
even as someone that never really played that game. I
played Advance and then seeing it here re rendered and
I don't know, maybe this is from maybe they this
is a rerender of the PSP version. Maybe that's where
that's from. I don't know, but whatever, it looks incredible.
The it was this really nice like water color style
(01:28:47):
to it. I'm not I don't know art very well,
but whatever it is, it's really beautiful to look at.
It's just like, God, they nailed the tone of this game,
the atmosphere, and I am already seen that the writing
is really well done. And that's not just like the
writing of setting up the world. It's like, no, the
(01:29:07):
way the characters are written to speak is actually pretty
well done.
Speaker 4 (01:29:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
It's kind of got that that knights in fantasy and
armor stuff, where they can be a little prim and proper,
but they're pulling it off. And I always think that's
such a hard thing to do to write that in
a video game in a way that feels right, and
it is mostly felt right here, and then of course
the new voices are really well done as well. So
just I'm impressed by that package so far. I hope
(01:29:34):
I can make enough time for it to like really
put a dent into it. But there's a lot of games,
so we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
I'm really excited. I'm definitely going to be checking it out.
I'll be curious, like what else we get if this
does well for them? And I don't see why it
wouldn't do well, But do we get, you know, Tues
Advance also, either with a similar remaster or just put
on anisode, we get new tactics game, Like, yeah, will
you do that? Or is that kind of a scary idea?
(01:30:02):
I'm curious. Yep, all right, Mike, let's clean up those
super checks when we can have you usually play Silent
Feel Left. I mean I'm paying this month, I'm playing it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
Yeah, I'm in the last couple of hours in it,
and it really they're righting on. That game is the
best right, and I've seen in a video game in
a while. It makes you feel really bad for everybody
involved in that in that in a video game, so
super recommended. I feel like, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:30:31):
I heard the game is anti marriage because the girl
doesn't want to get put into a forced wedding.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
Yes, so much.
Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
She's never met it is weird.
Speaker 4 (01:30:37):
And yeah, yes, she's such a good character. I love
her and she she has such a bad time in
that backwards town where everybody's an asshole to her, so
I really feel for her.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
So yeah, I have it.
Speaker 1 (01:30:51):
I have it installed right here. I'm looking at it
right now on my PC. It's that's an October game
for sure, and now we're here, I'll make time for it,
especially hearing it's like eight to ten hours long.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
Hell yeah, I could do.
Speaker 1 (01:31:00):
That all right, Cool, Mike, let's do those super chats.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
That's right, Wookie right says I was in Cleveland a
few weeks ago for the Nine Inch Nails concert that night,
at least Cleveland certainly did rock. That's fun. Was there?
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
Yeah? I do think she was there, and she didn't
tell us.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Tell us, now, dare her? Gadget? Mike says, did silk
song Corey request? After thirty plus tries, finally that one
took me a while and I went right, which apparently
is much harder than going left.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Oh is it okay?
Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
I didn't think it would be good. I had the
organ shortcut at least. I don't know if that hut.
Oh you know. So it wasn't like super terrible going right,
I guess, but that is probably still easier. I should
have done that.
Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
Yeah, that that that is one. Like I said, like,
I had been playing that game like an asshole for
a very long time, just running everywhere, and so I
die a lot just playing the game normal. So that
one I was able to do, like in three tries
filewater that wasn't pretty. That was not pretty for me.
Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
Yeah, that's part was rough for me as well.
Speaker 1 (01:31:58):
Actually it was rough for me.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
So yeah, I had plenty of spots in that game
where it's just like I suck at this. So yeah,
I think it's gonna be different for everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
Uh then JD. Camp says Chee Cheese is opening on Monday.
Get there in there asap, I got. Yeah, I gotta
add on Facebook. Yeah, I'm on Facebook sometimes those old
people in my life Facebook family. Uh, I got an
ad has to be to invest in Chee Cheese, like
you should become an investor, like on fig like me
(01:32:35):
about why I should invest by Buddy and chee Cheese.
I was like, that's change, That's that's odd. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
I think I'll just stick to an index one. But
thank you very much chee Cheese.
Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
The fried ice cream back, I mean, you can't be
cheechese uugh right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32:48):
Absolutely got it. Have you had fried ice cream anywhere else?
I'm sure other places do it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
But I don't remember ever seeing it anywhere else but
that chee Cheese.
Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
I'm gonna get some fried ice cream. That's kind of
I like, Mike, I might care about. I think you're
wrapped up on the super chats right, nothing else.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
I think we're good.
Speaker 1 (01:33:06):
All right, Well you know what, then we should probably
pop on out of this show. Mike Minati. Oh yeah,
go ahe.
Speaker 4 (01:33:11):
Before we go a community, this is their play left
for the two Saturday. Check the discord, go have some hunt.
It's a good game.
Speaker 1 (01:33:18):

people where they can find you on the internet.
Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
There's a new nineties Disney out's about the festival Lionking,
the kind of much Better Has Any Right to Be
Lion King show that they do in Animal Kingdom and
I have been doing since that park open in nineteen
ninety eight. So that was a really fun episode that's
available now on nineties Disney Twitch dot tv special Code
where I probably will be streaming sound oh f pretty
(01:33:56):

gonna get ready. We're gonna be playing Mark Gassy too
on the switch to.
Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
Late Late Night Bomb and everybody, it's it's a new era.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
I love it all right. Uh, let's see hey over
on gihnt bomb next week. It is gonna be golf week.
Speaker 1 (01:34:13):
We're telling people that now I got merch ready, we
got merch ready. It's hot, it's so cool. I am
very much looking forward to it. Uh we should probably,
I think, Mike, I think you might have mentioned that
we'll probably like do like a little video clip advertisement
for the store and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
So I would get played during games mornings. Yeah, I
get that race weekend. I'm gonna have j take some
modeling shots of me because hell yeah samples so yes,
and I'll make sure, yes, there'll be new merch on
my do not mug. Shut the hell up.
Speaker 1 (01:34:42):
You know, do you drink from a mug? Well?
Speaker 4 (01:34:43):
You golf.
Speaker 1 (01:34:45):
People putting into golf into mugs, right, and when they're
in the office.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
Yeah, that's the linquid behavior. They should be fired. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Yeah, you can have little plastic things you can get
now that just look like a golf hole. Everybody, you
don't need a mug.
Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Go to a puppa play, give them money. You're just
taking food off their families. Play in the office.
Speaker 1 (01:35:05):
I'm looking forward to golf.
Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
What's the what was the other new clip? Just pointing
now that maybe lasts so much. Yeah, what is it?
Don't worry about it, you know it's soundboard. Oh no, thanks, everybody,
catch you next time. Fine?
Speaker 4 (01:35:46):
That wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
Did he do? Oh you beat it boy? Pussy Jesus Christ.
It's not as fun as jacking off in a rainforest cafe.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
Yeah,
