Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's up everybody.
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and, asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day.
Today I'm going to talk about, well, basically, who the most
relevant NBA organization?
Right, I know who's the mostwinningest organization.
That's the Celtics.
They have 18 NBA championships.
My Lakers are at 16.
(00:24):
Some of y'all might bewondering why did I say 16
instead of 17?
I don't count the 2020 bubble,that participation trophy.
Y'all can.
I almost attribute it the sameway as I do the play-in
tournament that we did, and thefact that we hung up banners for
both is disgusting, but, again, that's where I'm coming from.
Okay, but, ladies and gentlemen, I don't I get the title count
(00:48):
right.
I do hear some gripes, though,of players back then and
counting their stats and talkingabout their relevancy, right.
So then let's do the same thingwith the titles.
It happened, they did, and I'mnot saying I definitively do
this, but let's not focus on howmany titles we have.
Let's do something different.
(01:08):
Let's change the narrative justa little bit.
Let's talk about who's morerelevant, and I deem relevancy
based on well, how many titleshave you won?
Based on the decades have youwon a title each decade.
Are you relevant If you win atitle in every decade?
I think that's pretty daggonegood, because that's very tough
(01:28):
to do.
In fact, no team in the NBA'shistory has won an NBA title in
every single decade not a one.
If that's the case, then who'swon the most decades?
Who's won the most decades?
Well, there's four teams thathave actually won three out of
(01:51):
eight decades played.
Because, again, the NBA wasfounded in 1946.
At least when it was merged, itwas 1946, right.
So the NBA that we know todayand love today 1946.
That's when we started offUntil present.
That's when we started offuntil present.
So, if that's the case, ladiesand gentlemen, like four teams
(02:13):
out of the 30 that did it out ofthe 30 that play only have
three decades where they've wonan NBA title, that's crazy.
You got the Spurs at numberfour with three, you got the
Warriors at number three withfour.
That was kind of confusing fora second.
You got the Celtics at numbertwo with five and y'all guessed
(02:35):
it.
You got my Lakers at number onewith six, and again, this is
out of eight decades, ladies andgentlemen.
So that means these teams havewon a title that many times out
of those eight decades, we aremore relevant than the Celtics
or really any team in the NBA.
Hell, if you combine numbersthree and four, we barely lose
(02:56):
by one.
Like that is insane to hear.
If you take five through eightand take three of those teams,
because, keep in mind, they haveonly won two decades, so that
means three of those teamscombined tie with the Lakers.
We're talking about relevancy, ladies and gentlemen.
Like our relevancy has spannedover more decades than any other
(03:21):
squad.
So that's cute, ladies andgentlemen, that we want to talk
about the Celtics winningchampionship.
That's nice.
Let's focus on the decades,though.
And okay, cool, I hear you youwant to talk about, oh well,
going forward.
We can still win and catch up.
That's cool, y'all can.
But the Celtics do have JasonTatum and Jalen Brown.
Hell, even the Warriors gotstuff.
(03:42):
So maybe they can win a titlethis year, although we're
talking about next decade.
So let's focus on next decade.
We got Luka.
Some people believe that he'sgoing to play into the next
decade.
I have question marks how longhe'd play into the next decade,
but sure, I'm sure he'll playlike, let's give him that, right
, let's give him that.
So you, you mean, tell me wewon't be competitive again.
(04:05):
There's no Steph anymore, butmaybe there's a world where he
plays five, six more years, somaybe they win a title 2030,
2031, something like that, whoknows?
Then they tie y'all.
That's crazy.
Or I mean, let's say, wimbyplays two decades and they win a
title in one title in 20 years,or two titles in 20 years.
(04:28):
That sounds doable.
And keep in mind too, they gotDe'Aaron Fox as well as Stephon
Castle.
They got some players.
All I'm saying, ladies andgentlemen, is the relevancy
award could be moving up, butkeep in mind, lakers are bound
to get stars.
So, yeah, we have luca now, butwe're probably gonna get
somebody else later on.
(04:48):
Hell, it might be possible thatwe get wimby.
Just saying we might even beable to snag jt and or jb.
Who knows?
I don't know about jobpersonally, but, like you know,
I can see something like thathappening too, and that'd be
entertainment and that'd beentertaining in the purple and
gold.
So for those script writer fanswho don't think John Lakers
uniform might produce achampionship, I'm just saying
(05:12):
there's a couple of stars outthere.
Ladies and gentlemen, like Isaid, the Lakers, we are the
most relevant team and I thinkthat's more important than who
has the most titles, becauseI've heard people have gripes
about players back then andjudging players back then.
Players on the NBA 75 list getslighted because, oh well, the
(05:32):
game was so trash back then.
Ok, so does that dilute thechampionships?
And keep in mind, celtics fanshave told me the same thing
about those players back then.
So if that's the case, let'snot be hypocrites and let's
dilute those championships thentoo.
So maybe you might want to focuson the decades that you won a
(05:53):
championship, because that'sreally what matters.
It's cool to win multiple, butnot everyone can win back to
backs or multiples in a decade.
How many teams have actuallywon three peaks?
Come on, there's not that many.
So again, let's focus on achampionship, one in the decade,
and a lot of teams can't saythey have hell.
(06:16):
Anything like 10 teams thathave not literally won a
championship the jazz, thepelicans, the suns, the clippers
, the t wolves, the grizzlies, the hornets, the nets, the magic
, the pacers.
Let's focus on winning in thedecade, and again, that puts the
Lakers ahead.
Y'all are close, though.
Y'all are close, but I focusmore so on the most relevant
(06:40):
organization, because again, that means we bring more
business to the NBA, becausethat means we're more marketable
than y'all are on a consistentbasis, because that means we're
more marketable than y'all areon a consistent basis, and that
has spanned over the NBA'sentirety.
That includes that little hotstreak y'all had, like I said,
18 titles.
(07:00):
That's cute.
But, ladies and gentlemen, boysand girls, I want to hear from
y'all Do y'all agree with me?
No-transcript can't hold y'all.
So it would be nice to startjudging organizations based on
the decades and not thechampionships, because you might
(07:22):
get a hot streak and pair upsome stars and then never do it
again.
Is that a better organizationthan another one who is
consistently winning?
Like I was worried, I was notglad y'all think the spurs might
have a knock or might have, like between 2000 and 2020, they
were better than us.
I could definitively say thatbecause they were more
consistent.
(07:42):
We had hotter streaks, we hadhotter peaks or higher peaks,
but hey, y'all were consistentlysolid.
So I would lean the spurs interms of organizations.
So, again, decades, let's focuson that.
But again, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, that's all the
time I have for you all.
Thank you all for listening.
