Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's up everybody?
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day Now.
Today we're going to talk aboutthe NBA playoffs and the
expectations we should have foreach team, as well as, in
general.
What do playoffs really bring,right?
But before we start thatconversation, please make sure
to hit that like and subscribebutton.

(00:23):
Comment, tell anyone about theshow.
I'm trying to get the ratingsup a little bit, just a little
bit.
But like I said, ladies andgentlemen, today we're going to
talk about NBA playoffs andexpectations, Again, 2025.
So why are playoffs important?
Well, the reasoning why is this?
It's the most exciting time inthe season.
Long story short, everybody'splaying for a championship.

(00:43):
This is that time whereeveryone starts playing for a
championship.
You get the most effort out ofplayers, theoretically, in the
playoffs.
Fans pay attention the most tothe NBA for the playoffs.
Most teams make most of theirmoney in the playoffs.
So, again, most exciting time,right?

(01:05):
You also get to figure outwho's the best team for that
particular season.
You also get to recognize somedisappointing teams too, and
players as well.
Also, the storylines for theoff season are starting to form
up during the playoffs, right asteams and players exit and
advance, you get potentialrivalries that form up because

(01:28):
certain teams lose.
It might be a repetitive thing,or maybe they flip-flop back
and forth between winning andlosing, right between one team
and another.
So again, you get rivalriesthat form up.
You get to reshape and redefinelegacies.
Playoffs a wonderful timebecause, keep mind, during the
regular season folks aredragging people.
So again, you get to reshapeyour legacy.

(01:49):
It's a bunch of things overthere in the playoffs that you
got to look forward to seeing.
But, ladies and gentlemen, withthat definition, let's go ahead
and talk about the playoffrankings, because, as you guys
see on the screen, we'll startoff with the Western Conference.
Right, we have here the Thunderversus the Grizzlies, then we
have the Nuggets versus theClippers.

(02:11):
Next we have my Lakers versusthe Wolves and the Rockets
versus the Warriors, and thenhere on this Eastern Conference
side, we have the Cavs versusthe Heat, then we have the
Pacers versus the Bucs, theKnicks versus the Pistons and
finally the Celtics versus theMavericks.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, these matchups are good ones.
I'm not going to lie to you all.

(02:32):
So let's start it off.
Let's start off with the East.
Let's start off with the East.
So we got to talk about herethe Cavs versus the Heat.
Now for this one right, and I'mgoing to tell you guys my
expectations real quick, kind ofhigh level-ish for each team.
The Cats you have pressureversus a potential second-round

(02:54):
team.
When we look at the heat, theculture, the coaching, the
players, people think this heatteam could actually go to the
second round and they justunderperformed during the
regular season and I have mygripes about them.
But you have pressure nowbeating a second-round team.
So will the Cavs do that?
Let's find out.
Then the Heat Are y'all the new, we believe, warriors?

(03:20):
Because the Warriors beat DirkNowitzki and the Mavs a couple
years ago, a couple decades ago,and they kind of stunned the
world.
Right, I don't know if thiswould be stunning, but at the
same time, can y'all actually doit?
Because, again, that JimmyButler trade did raise some
question marks.
Now for the Heat, for thefuture.

(03:40):
So that's what we're lookingfor with the Heat and, again,
expectations.
I expect the Cavs to win.
But these are the things thatI'm paying attention to for the
Cavs and for the Heat.
Now the next teams Celticsversus Mavs Magic, I'm sorry, oh
my gosh.
The Celtics.
Long story short, ladies andgentlemen, are they not going to
play with their food?

(04:01):
Because, keep in mind, playoffsfirst, regular season is a
little bit different, right, andwith the magic, the magic
actually have played well, firstthe celtics in the regular
season, so we got to rememberthat.
So, keep in mind, ladies andgentlemen, are the celtics going
to play with their food?
Because every time I talk withpeople, people think, hey,

(04:21):
they're just going to it alittle light and then rely on
talent.
Change that narrative now.
And for the Magic, well, myexpectations are this Make the
series competitive and show thatyou belong, because, keep in
mind, we understand that JalenSuggs is out, right, that's part
of your big three.
So the Magic are a littlehampered and they're young too,

(04:44):
and I got to note that.
Make it competitive, becauseI've been trying to say that the
Magic and Celtics can be arivalry, like the Spurs and
Thunder used to be when KD andRuss and Harden were young and
Timmy was on the Spurs.
Remember them days.
I think that's what we can getwith the Magic and Celtics, but
these are my expectations forthose two.

(05:05):
Let's go ahead and move on,shall we?
So we got to talk about here theKnicks versus the Pistons, and
this is a good one, because myexpectations of these Knicks
y'all got to prove that you allare contenders.
Game five at most versus thesePistons.
That's what I want to see thisseries go, if y'all are really
serious contenders.
I understand this Pistons teamis scrappy.

(05:33):
They got good talentno-transcript, just being honest
.
So those are my expectationsfor the Knicks Pistons.
Hey, show promise for future, bro, because as long as y'all
keep these games competitive,y'all can get swept and people
will remember oh well, at leastthey kept those games close.

(05:54):
They have the talent.
They just needed the experience.
Now they'll get first.
You need those sort ofconversations if you're the
Detroit Pistons, so those'll getfirst.
You need those sort ofconversations if you're the
Detroit Pistons.
So those are my expectations.
I'm expecting them to lose, butat least gain that sort of
traction for the upcoming years, because you got to think about
building up your team.
Jaden Ivey's coming back nextyear.
Will other free agents want togo to Detroit?

(06:16):
We'll find out.
But those are my expectationsfor the Knicks and the Pistons.
And then, finally, the Bucs andthe Pacers.
Notice, I said the Bucs firsttoo.
Keep in mind, would you, kindof strategic, but you know,
we're here now, bucs, y'allstill have to win, kind of
without Dame, and that's goingto be interesting.

(06:38):
I expect you all to be able tobe more physical than pacers.
Problem is, though, the pacershave a good, deep team.
They have solid talent.
So will yannis be able to carrythe squad?
Will dane be able to come backin time?
Will the supporting cast beable to help out?
Because if the answers are no,bye, bye, giannis.

(07:01):
So I'm expecting the Bucs towin.
Maybe I should say hope, because if not, it's gonna be
tough.
And then for the Pacers, well, Iwould love to see what y'all do
against a healthy Bucs team.
I'm not gonna lie to.
The narrative is they are stillfacing injured teams.

(07:22):
Whether we want to admit it ornot, that's going to be a thing
for folks.
So I want to see how thisPacers team does against
non-injured teams, but againstthis Bucs team, it cannot go
further.
I really want to say five, butI'm going to be fair and say six
.
Y'all got to win it in six.
If y'all can't win this in six,I don't know if I can believe

(07:54):
in the Pacers, going forward asa team that can eventually
become a contender.
Sorry, but that's just me.
So again, ladies and gentlemen,y'all heard my takes about the
East.
What y'all think about I'mdefinitely curious, let me know.
But with that, all right, weget to talk about the side that
my boys is on.
You know what I'm saying.
I just want to make sure I goton my soapbox and do a nice

(08:15):
little transition, right, because we get to talk about
here, the West, starting offwith the Thunderbirds, the
Grizzlies.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys andgirls, long story short, can OKC
dominate the Grizzlies?
Because if so, then they areproving that they are that
contending team.
Ladies and gentlemen, theGrizzlies are not that good
right now.

(08:35):
They have good talent.
There's a lot of confusionright there.
For me at least outside, looking in OKC, you got to get
this done in four, maybe evenfive.
If you can't and I understandthe Memphis Grizzlies, again,
have good talent they'revulnerable right now.
So that's my expectation for OKCthe Memphis Grizzlies make the

(09:00):
series go the distance, becauseyou do have the talent.
You have a John Moran, you havea Desmond Bain, you have a
Jaron Jackson Jr.
You have those players.
Y'all have to be able to go thedistance or at least push it to
six If y'all get swept by anymeans necessary or get dog
walked a lot of the time.

(09:20):
And again I'm on record forsaying you have to potentially
consider trading john moran.
When I say potentially consider, I'm sorry you have to consider
trading john moran, potentiallytrade john moran.
That's a real thing and thatnarrative will get pushed hard
this offseason, especially withluca getting traded.
So again, my expectations arefor the grizzlies to in fact

(09:41):
make this a series.
Let's see which expectationhappens, because again, you
can't make the series go thedistance, but then someone also
dominate, someone gotta get just.
But let's go ahead and move onto the next one rockets versus
Rockets versus Warriors.
Ladies and gentlemen, Pointblank period Rockets.

(10:03):
I expect them, I hate to say,to lose, but at least to
maximize their reboundingadvantage, because they're going
to be able to out rebound theWarriors.
In theory, on paper, they havethe height advantage.
But but again, for me, ladiesand gentlemen, it does boil down
to execution experience.
They do have some experience.

(10:24):
The execution for their youngplayers I'm curious about, and
the experience for the youngplayers they don't have yet.
So as a result, I think theRockets are a little bit
vulnerable, but they still gotto make this a series.
So I do expect this to be aseries just leans the Warriors
way series.
Just leans the Warriors way.
And again, when I talk aboutexpectations for the Warriors,

(10:51):
you got to outclass and outhustle this youthful Rocket team
.
That's why I say the experiencecomes in, because they have the
talent.
The Rockets have the talent tobeat the Warriors.
The Warriors have theexperience, the star status, the
coaching, the cohesion tooutclass this Rockets team.
So you may see, in spurts, rockets looking like they're the
better team Warriors.
I expect them to win this, butwe'll see what happens though,

(11:14):
because the Rockets are coachedpretty well.
I will say that now, but let'smove on up to my boys, these
Lakers going up against theWolves.
Now here's the thing, ladiesand gentlemen, for my Lakers.
I do expect us to have sometroubles with the Wolves, right
containing Anthony Edwards.
I do expect us to do thatbecause you know what we decided

(11:39):
to trade for Luka and we saidforget the rim protection.
So I'm expecting us to trade todefend our tails off.
I've heard people say you knowwhat, we're a better defensive
team now than when we hadAnthony Davis?
I don't believe so, but cool, let's go ahead and see how this
shakes.
So again, I'm expecting, basedon everything I've been hearing,

(12:00):
and he's Luka trade too we cancontain Anthony Edwards and we
can.
We can be more hearing.
And he's Luka Trey too.
We can contain Anthony Edwardsand we can be more dominant we
mean a Luka than Anthony Edwardscan.
That might be an uphill battle, though I'm not going to lie to
y'all, because for the Wolves, Ido expect Anthony Edwards to
dominate.
He doesn't have to have ungodlynumbers offensively, he just

(12:21):
has to keep attacking andcausing a pressure on our
defense.
Because now, when we start totry to double team, anthony
Edwards kick the ball out andthey have the rebounding
advantage too.
So even if the Wolves startmissing, they have a decent
chance of getting the rebound.
And Anthony Edwards is gettingto the swing and think oh, by
the way, we're getting into foultrouble too, and you got to

(12:42):
play Austin Reeves and Lucas, and now their legs are tired on
offense because they're beingactive on defense.
Now they're forced to be moreactive on defense.
Yeah, that's tough.
So again, I'm expecting a battlebetween the Wolves and Lakers,
and I'm not really comfortablethat we win.
I expect us to off-talentbetween the Wolves and Lakers,
and I'm not really comfortablethat we win.
I expect us to off-talent.

(13:06):
I got some question marks andconcerns about us winning versus
this young Wolves team, but, ladies and gentlemen, that's all
I got for us right now.
Let's move on up to the finalone Nuggets versus Clippers.
Okay, nuggets, not going to lieto you guys, I expect the
Nuggets Not going to lie to youguys.
I expect the Nuggets to win.
I expect the bench to produceenough and I know there's

(13:30):
question marks around that I doexpect the bench of the Nuggets
to produce enough.
Russell Westbrook should besufficient.
You do start to wonder, damn, who else is on the bench.
But I think they have a goodenough bench now with Russell
Westbrook because again, theirteam has been healthy.
They have the cohesion, theyhave Yoki, they have a good
one-two punch.
Everybody understands theirroles and the players who have

(13:51):
roles can actually go outside ofthose roles.
Look at Aaron Gordon, forexample.
He could be a French all-starcaliber player and is playing a
little lesser role to make thisteam a championship team.
So again, I expect the Nuggetsto win and beating a Clippers
team that I got to give credit.
I didn't really expect to be inthe playoffs, given their
history with injuries and flukestuff.

(14:14):
But now in the playoffs, I'mnot expecting them to advance
either.
At some point in time maybe aninjury occurs Hopefully not, but
we done seen stuff happenconsistently.
We done seen James Hardenfalter consistently.
I don't know.
So my expectations for theClippers not really doing too

(14:38):
well, possibly six games.
So again, they are a scary teamif healthy and playing to their
potential.
They just got to prove it.
But again, ladies and gentlemen, that does conclude the playoff.
So again I'm curious did I messup on any playoff expectations?
Y'all heard my expectations foreach team, each series.
We'll see what happens, but Iwant to hear y'all thoughts

(15:02):
about my expectations.
Let me know what y'all think.
Ladies and gentlemen, that doesconclude the episode,
definitely.
