Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, everybody?
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show.
Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day.
Today we're going to talk aboutthe WNBA 2025 All-Star Game
recap, but before we do that, please make sure to hit that
like and subscribe button, comment, tell anyone who's
anyone about the show, trying toget the ratings up a little bit
.
You know, just a little bit.
But, like I said, we we'regoing to talk about the WNBA

(00:21):
2025 All-Star Game.
It was cool, but I had a coupleof gripes, really one glaring
one, one glaring one, oneglaring one.
Stop shooting all them damnfour-pointers.
They's cool, I get you, I getit, until I don't Like there was
some that could have made itCould have taken a lot of

(00:43):
four-point shots, but damn, nowy'all starting to look like we
just throwing up shit at thispoint in time.
But, ladies and gentlemen, itwas a good one.
So I do want y'all to payattention to the WNBA All-Star
Game.
I did predict that Team Collierwas going to win and they did
Give them a round of applause.
Ladies and gentlemen, yay, goodjob, good win.

(01:07):
And they did give them a roundof applause.
Ladies and gentlemen, yay, goodjob, good job.
It was easy, though I mean, youguys and this was before we
knew the injuries too was goingto happen.
I said this, by the way, but Imean, you know they, you know
injuries did a fact, injurieswere a factor.
I said stuff, like the rookies, you, that might have helped out
too.
But again though, nafisaCollier, 36 points, lord have

(01:29):
mercy.
And I think she had like fourfour-pointers.
Her damn self, like the girl, can hoop, she can get a bucket
on every level of the game andis a tremendous defender.
So of course she went MVP.
But let's look at the otherteams, the other players, but
let's start it off with TeamCollier, shall we Now my girl
Nneka, tenth time, by the way,she in this thing, third time

(01:54):
all time for WNBA history interms of getting to the All-Star
game.
But y'all see her quality 16.7rebounds, three assists, that
ain't bad and in fact that'sabout what she do on the
day-to-day basis.
That's right.
Tip of the cat to my, to mynecker.
I always love saying that Stewie, with only eight points, again,

(02:19):
it's an all-star game.
So you know, I'm saying it's alot of all-star players.
But you, I've called brandonstewart top three.
So you would like to see herwith a little bit more than
eight points.
But again, she took eight shotsbe 50.
I ain't mad at that and theteam won.
Also, other players werehooping getting a bucket, so you
know what you can't be.
But so mad because brandonstewart is still a top three

(02:40):
player in the wmba fee.
I said look at that.
Four of five from three andthose were four-pointers, ladies
and gentlemen, cash money andy'all see 36 points with nine
rebounds.
I kind of wish he had thatextra rebound and give her a
double-double.
And keep in mind, 36 points isthe most scored in an All-Star

(03:03):
game.
That's kind of crazy.
We broke the record.
That's kind of crazy.
We broke the record.
That's wild.
Oh, congratulations.
Now Alicia Gray 5 of 12 from 3.
It did look like you waschucking them things up
initially, but you found yourstride and you started hitting a
little bit.
So I tip of the cap to Alicia.
Show me life ain't black andwhite.
There's a little bit of grayinvolved.
Paige Beckers, right, is astarter for a rookie.

(03:28):
That's my girl right there.
That's arguably one of myfavorite players, if not my
favorite player, in the WNBA.
Okay, efficiency, we could havedone a little bit better.
I ain't going to hold you Twoof six, you know one of five,
okay, cool, six points.
I did say I was expecting likeeight to ten points.
I said six to eight assists.

(03:49):
We hit that.
I said about three rebounds, one away.
We didn't really get no stealsor blocks.
But here's what I realized too, though there was really no
defense in the All-Star game.
So you know it's okay that wemissed those.
But page did do fairly well.
First time, all star starter.

(04:10):
Tip of the cap to page.
Now the bench.
Ladies and gentlemen, I ain'tgonna try to get too too, too
too emotionally involved withthese ladies.
But look, alissa thomas.
I said this before, I'm gonnasay it again she might have
gotten snubbed from being astarter.
I just don't know who you takeout, but she might have been
snubbed from being a starter.
I just don't know who you takeout, but she might have been
snubbed from being a starter, ladies and gentlemen, and she
can hoop on all levels.
So I'm wondering if this willput a chip on her shoulder.

(04:33):
The second half of the WNBAseason.
You got to follow thatstoryline.
If you get a souped up, alyssaThomas, the rest of the way and
they're healthy.
That's tough, thomas.
The rest of the way and they'rehealthy.
God, that's tough.
I actually don't know too manyteams that's going to beat that.
Then Angel Reese Well, I meanwe already talked about Angel's

(04:54):
improvements.
Playmaking-wise, she's beenimproving Efficiency, she's been
improving.
Skill-wise, it seems like she'simproving.
I know the Angel Reese fans aregoing to start to say, hey,
she's better than Caitlyn atsome point in time and the
Caitlyn stans are going to say,oh, there's no way in hell.
You're going to love to hearthose storylines Because again,
she's hooping and she's going tocontinue to be an all-star.

(05:16):
You know who else will continueto be an all-star too?
Skylar Diggins-Sm Smith.
Again, the first triple-doublein WNBA history, and I'm so
happy it was a non-Kaitlyn Clarkplayer.
The reason why is because ofthe WNBA slander that they would
have received.
Oh, the WNBA players are trashbecause Kaitlyn wins it.
Now, when we have Skyler winthis or any other player win it,

(05:40):
we can actually focus just onthe fact that it was the first
triple-double in WNBA history.
First triple-double, 15 assists, one turnover Damn, that's good
.
That's kind of tough actually.
That's really tough.
But the fact that she got 11rebounds too, though that's kind
of casual.
So I mean, ladies and gentlemen, I love Skylar Diggins.

(06:03):
I'm so happy that she got thistriple-double.
I'm so happy that her careerseems to be turning back around
Because, remember, skylarDiggins was one of the ones in a
lot of people's eyes, so I'mglad that she's starting to get
back on track.
Kayla McBride she's back in thethick of things too.
I get it.

(06:25):
I'm happy you balled out untilyou see them numbers 15 points
for 12 threes.
Yikes, like I do need to seesomething a little bit different
out of kayla.
I expect to have a chip on theshoulder.
But, ladies and gentlemen, Idon't want to see this full of
12 to 2 often.
I can't.
She's too good of a shooter tobe giving me 33 from the
three-point line.
I'm sorry, like that's just mypersonal opinion.
Y'all can be.
Y'all can say I'm petty, it'swhatever.
I can't.
She's too good of a shooter tobe giving me 33% from the
three-point line.
I'm sorry, like that's just mypersonal opinion.

(06:46):
Y'all can say I'm petty, it'swhatever.
But her teammate Courtney,solid, solid.
Y'all see the 13 points, fiveassists Like I love her energy
all together.
And for this Lynx team stud, shout out to the stud buds, by
the way.
Then that one.
Actually I didn't even plan forthat, that just naturally

(07:08):
happened.
But again, she's naturally afun and charismatic player.
She's naturally, like one of myboys even said, she is his most
exciting player to watch.
So of course she's got to be anall-star and of course she
balls out and she's able to geta bucket.
But also, what's most importantis she's able to play point
guard exceptionally well.
Again, five assists, oneturnover.
She's gone a couple of gameswithout having a turnover.

(07:31):
But having more than fiveassists, that's pretty.
That's pretty damn good, allright.
So courtney williams is solidas a player, so you gotta tip
your cap court.
And then kelsey plum on mysparks.
Listen, all-star, I hear you.
Ladies and gentlemen, kelsey'sa bucket getter, a combo guard.
You see the 16 points, don'teven worry.

(07:53):
14 field goals, 16 points.
You see 50%.
Just imagine if this three ballwent in a little bit more.
She was chucking the fullpointers up.
I'll give you that.
But scoring-wise she does do alittle bit better than this.
I will say that.
But still, 16 ain't bad.
And again, I like Kelsey Plum.
I would have preferred PaigeBeckers on my team because of a
future aspect, but Kelsey Plumas the player.

(08:15):
Don't get it twisted Now.
Kelsey Plum could still get abucket.
Kelsey Plum is still the numberone player that was drafted.
Kelsey Plum is still considered, arguably, as the second option
on the defending Aceschampionship teams, although I
think you can argue that.
But still, that's what we'retalking about.
So, kelsey all-star, I expect tosee her next season and you

(08:37):
better be working your tail offtoo.
That's right.
I'll be peeping you this, thisupcoming game, when you play.
Never mind, let's talk about it.
Shout out to ryan howard too.
I told y'all she got a kneeinjury.
I hate that for her too, because ryan howard has been
doing pretty well this year asthe overall basketball player.
She's like a smidge away fromme from being a complete
basketball player.
That's all I'm gonna say.
That's all I'm gonna say.

(08:58):
But she got what she has thetools to be a complete
basketball player and reallydominate the WNBA.
Not even lying, not even lying.
Now let's scroll on down toTeam Clark.
For those of y'all who did know, who listened to this before, I
personally stated I didn't thinkKaitlyn Clark should have been
voted as a captain.
I get you fan votes.
I hear it, I hear it.
She ain't played enough gamesfor me to be even warranted a

(09:23):
all-star berth.
In my opinion, I think thereshould be a game threshold of
about 15.
She ain't hit that.
Be a game threshold about 15.
She ain't hit.
That.
It's my personal opinion.
So how I would have done itwould have been go to alia
boston because she was third onthe list in fan votes.
Unfortunately we didn't get tosee caitlyn clark prove me wrong

(09:44):
and say, nah, I should havebeen captain, and just that in
the third.
Don't get me wrong, I'm notsaying this as a talent solely
games played, solely gamesplayed.
But we had Aaliyah Boston who Ithought should have been the
captain.
Nine points, six reboundsfairly casual, fairly casual.

(10:05):
I like her spirit as a player.
I really do like her on thecourt.
Seems like a lovely player.
I you, I think alia boston isthe best player on her team, the
most dominant player on herteam and arguably the nicest
player on her team.
And a player like that remindsme of like jim duncan, for
whatever reason, right like,we'll talk about it another day.

(10:27):
But I love alia b Boston.
On the squad, aja Wilson, youmight be wondering why she only
had four points, because thatsounds a little low.
That do sound a little low.
Well, she's come back, I think, from shoulder injury.
Right, she hit too manyshoulder leans.
You know what I'm saying, bam,you got to have a cool out, bro.
You got to have a cool out.
Aaron Charles was supposed tobe AKAs and ski-wheating Wheaton
.
Stop trying to show my bad.

(10:49):
Anyways, asia has been doing awonderful job this season.
I will admit that she has beenthe lone constant on her team,
which is kind of sad for me tosay, in terms of a dominance
factor.
So I'm glad that she was anall-star this year, although we
can say Jackie Young too.
But I said dominance.
Jackie Young has been playingwell, wouldn't say dominant.

(11:10):
I needed all WNBA caliberperformance from Jackie.
I don't know if I'm gettingthat just yet, but again, she
gave me all-star performance.
That's why she up here too.
That's why you see both of them.
But you know, one minute forJackie, 12 minutes for Asia.
There's some stuff going on inVegas.
Clearly a little snake eye isgoing on.

(11:32):
They got some injuries to dealwith, but someone who's not
really been injured, kelseyMitchell, and in fact you see
this 20 that she got right here.
That's on 8 of 13 shooting.
But she does that for her FeverSquad on a consistent basis.
That's why Kelsey Mitchell doesnot get enough props.
She does not People overlookher so much and it's a little

(11:56):
sad, it's a little tough.
I can't hold y'all.
I thought she should have beenvoted an all-star.
Again, 20 points in the game Isthat second runner-up?
Yeah, ain't nobody scoringhigher than that.
Now you can say it was on thelosing team and that's fair.
I hear you, I do hear you.
Somebody, you, somebody gottadrop 20, but not everyone can
drop 20, especially efficiently.

(12:17):
We're talking about field goalsand three porters.
Hell, she was 100 from freethrow.
One of one, no, no, literallylike one of one.
Not to her, but she cool too, though, but her free throw is
one of one.
Again, kelsey, I rock with you.
And then, when you also thinkabout too well, she's playing
with a bunch of playmakers, sabrina Ionescu gets seven

(12:41):
assists.
Because Kelsey Mitchell'ssnapping a little bit, that
ain't bad, and you got to loveSabrina too.
Twelve points, just won thethree-point contest, damn Like.
It's really truly phenomenal tosee her doing what she doing.
Because, again, them sevenassists is tough, but the no

(13:01):
turnovers is even tougher and wegot to start wondering is
Sabrina Ionescu the best pointguard in the WNBA?
And I think we can say that.
I think we might be able to saythat.
Ladies and gentlemen, shout outto Kayla Thornton though I don't
want to shortchange Sabrina, but damn Kayla Thornton playing

(13:27):
in the All-Star game.
Ladies and gentlemen, she waswaived her sophomore year and I
want to say she was waived bythe Golden State Valkyries and
then was brought back and thenbecame an all-star.
That's one of the best storiesyou can hear, like you got cut,
you got waved by your squad tothen boomerang back and then
have one of the best seasonsthat you had.

(13:48):
And keep in mind she was on theLiberty when they won the
championship.
So she's really having quite asolid two years, a really solid
two years, bro.
I wonder how valued she is forthe Golden State Valkyries.
Would they ever trade her?
Because you have to start tothink she might have that Nick

(14:12):
Collison role, like the OKCThunder had.
Right, nick Collison wassupposed to be that first star
that got to the team.
That's why they hung up hisretirement, that's why they
retired his jersey.
So would the Golden StateValkyries end up retiring Kayla
Thornton's jersey.
That's what I'm going to bewaiting to see, because I think
at this point in time we mightstart wondering is I mean, you

(14:35):
help putting them on the map alittle bit?
But you gotta love KaylaThornton's story, you really do.
Brianna Jones I told y'all aboutthe Atlanta Dream and how they
got a big three, but we got tostart wondering is Brianna Jones
part of that new big three?
Because she could be outplaying Brittany Griner.
Hence Brittany Griner's not onthis list, ladies and gentlemen,
but the other two were inAlicia Gray and Ryan Howard.

(14:59):
So again, rihanna Jones ishaving a hell of a season, I got
to admit, and it looked likeshe back in action, like how she
was on the sun.
I thought she was going to comeoff the bench to provide a
spark and then maybe close thegame.
But somebody might start askingdo we need to keep her starting
and maybe move BG to the bench?

(15:20):
I don't know.
But hey, brianna, though, keephooping, keep getting the bucket
.
I love how you hoop, gabby.
Gabby Williams, can you stop?
Like Jesus, like chill out, bro, you're doing too much.
16 points, four of 10 fromthree, like yo yo, she was kind
of hooping.
She was kind of hooping and wemight have to ask ourselves is

(15:40):
is Gabby Williams the besttwo-way player in the WNBA?
Because we might, oh I don'tknow.
So we got there might be anargument.
I hear you on Asia, I hear youon the Feast of Collier.
You got some other players outthere.
It's going to be tough toeclipse those two.
Gabby, I ain't going to holdyou, but to make an argument we
might be able to, because she'sactive, leading the league in

(16:03):
steals with like 2.6.
Basically, three Her and DysonDaniels is stupid this year,
like that is crazy.
So again, tip of the cap toGabby.
Always got to appreciate her, love her on the storm and she's
part of the reason why I thinkthe storm actually going to do.
Well, y'all remember her in theOlympics.
Y'all know who she is.
Okay, now y'all see here KikiIrieffin, brittany Sykes and

(16:28):
Sonia Citrone, all them on thesame team, the Washington
Mystics.
The Washington Mystics Tworookies and someone who I
classify as someone without thestar cachet that they should
have, and that is Brittany Sykes.
Well, you see how theyperformed Like.

(16:48):
You see how they got a bucket, ladies and gentlemen, 17 points,
16 points, 11 points rightthere.
Then you got seven assists, twoassists.
Then you got 10 rebounds.
Like that points.
11 points right there.
Then you got seven assists, twoassists, then you got 10
rebounds.
Like that's a quality squadright there.
Now the three-point percentagethat does leave you.
Yeah, like you took nine threesand didn't make not one.

(17:10):
Brittany Damn, that's tough.
But at least Kiki and Soniamade some threes.
So that means you know britneycan play a little point guard
space to flow out and then youget.
You got.
All you need is two bigs now tohelp you rebound.
Oh, they have that on thatsquad.
You might be seeing if the, ifthe mystics stay together, you
might be seeing more mystics onthis team and these loud and

(17:33):
these all-star lineups like thatcould happen.
Alternate one year, then thenextstar lineups Like that could
happen.
Alternate one year, then thenext, switch it to the others.
Like that could very wellhappen.
Again, sonia Citrone, I lovethe fact that you stayed
aggressive.
You kept shooting the ball.
I saw your head droop a littlebit.
You picked your head back upduring the game.
I appreciate that.
I love that aspect of you.
And then Kiki, you were justout there and I love that you

(17:56):
were embracing the moment, youweren't scared.
I appreciate that.
So I love the fact that you getto see these players grow up.
I love that.
And then of course, satu andKaitlyn.
I mean you know it'sunfortunate we didn't get to see
Satu play.
You know, hopefully she comesback.
She has had injury issues inthe past, so hopefully that's

(18:18):
not a thing this season, becausethe Mercury could be dogging
folks.
And then Kaitlyn Clark has beenout damn near all this year.
It's kind of crazy when youthink about it.
I would love to see her play alittle more often.
I'm glad we got to see her goup against the wings, but again,
would have loved to see herplay a little more often,
because then she would have beencaptain, she would have been an
all-star, all that good stuff.
But again, ladies and gentlemen, what this is showing you again

(18:42):
Kaitlyn Clark did not play, butthese women did not play either
.
This game was entertaining fromstart to finish, I'll give you.
They took way too many damnfour-pointers and sometimes I
was like maybe we should get ridof the four-point shot or like
what limit it?
Maybe it's got to be a zone, not a specific spot, because

(19:03):
people were just running to thatspot and that's just looking
trash.
I'm sorry that don't look likebasketball, that looks like
trash.
I'm sorry, I don't haveanywhere else to classify.
But again though, ladies andgentlemen, the game was fun, the
game was cool.
We just need a few more tweaksand we right there.
But I watched every second andI hope y'all did too.

(19:26):
But definitely let me know whaty'all think in the comment
section below about the WNBAAll-Star Game.
What tweaks would y'all like tomake?
What players did y'all thinkshould have got snubbed or got
snubbed?
What player that did?
Did you like the skillschallenge?
I did personally like.

(19:47):
Natasha.
Cloud is on cloud nine rightnow.
After winning that andthankfully sabrina kept the
liberty winning all all-starweekend.
Just saying again, ladies andgentlemen, the all-star weekend.
Just saying Again, ladies andgentlemen, the all-star weekend
was phenomenal, it was trulyphenomenal, and it was around my
birthday.
I was just thinking about that.
That's another one too.
Happy birthday to me.
But, ladies and gentlemen, that's all the time we have.

(20:08):
So thank you all for listening.
I greatly appreciate y'all forwatching WNBA as well as the
show.
