The Seattle Storm have established themselves as one of the WNBA's best-run organizations by expertly balancing present success with future planning, particularly in their trades with the Los Angeles Sparks.

• Storm's roster features perfect balance of veterans (Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins) and young talent (Ezi Magbegor, Dominique Malonga)
• Seattle acquired valuable future draft picks from the Sparks while maintaining a competitive team
• LA faces pressure with players like Kelsey Plum and Rickea Jackson needing to perform without future draft assets
• Storm have positioned themselves for continued success with strong current roster and potential top draft picks
• Dominique Malonga adds excitement as a player who can "casually dunk" in transition
• Sparks still have talent with Plum, Jackson, Cameron Brink, Azurá Stevens and Dearica Hamby

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up everybody.
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day Now.
Today we're going to talk aboutthe storm in the WNBA and they
come up.
But before we do that, pleasemake sure to hit that like and
subscribe button.
Comment, tell anyone who'sanyone about the show, trying to
get the ratings up a little bit.
You know, just a little bit.
But, like I said, the stormscome up in the WNBA Because it's

(00:23):
been a little disappointing forme and I'm a Sparks fan, the
reason why I say that, look, they've been doing a good job,
all right, like the storm.
They drafted well, but alsothey've been paying attention to
their future.
And that's the tough partBecause they had to deal with my
damn team.
But it's all right, because weget to talk about my sparks and

(00:44):
the recap and player pressuresfor them as well as the storm,
really.
So y'all might be wonderingwell, why are we here?
Like I said, we got to talkabout the storm and my sparks
because both of them have beendoing pretty well and, as y'all
can see, my sparks, we look andeye right.

(01:05):
We got a a couple players whocan hoop.
Right, we got Cameron Brink.
That came back, got you.
If you go to the Storm, theygot a couple players on their
team too.
Right, shout out Nneka and them.
Skyler ain't no slouch, gabby,cool.
Erica's a bucket Like Ezzy's,straddling Like bro, they got
the pieces.
Erica's a bucket Like as he's,straddling like bro, they got
the pieces.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, Imean, they kind of robbed us.

(01:30):
They kind of robbed us Becausey'all see the squads, right,
y'all see the squads.
Well, this is where it allstarted.
This is where it all started.
So, right here, ladies andgentlemen, y'all peep Jewel
Lloyd to the Aces.
Kelsey Pld to the aces.
Kelsey plum to the sparks.
Where did jewel lloyd come from?
The seattle storm and theyacquired our number two pick.

(01:52):
Now, for starters, my sparks didlose out on the number one pick
last year, which which turnedout to be page beckers, which
I'm pissed at because we had tosettle for kelsey plum.
No disrespect to, but when youlook at, when I'm thinking about
the future, that's a settle, but we have Kelsey on our squad.
The Storm got Dominique Malanga, who can casually dunk.

(02:15):
Yeah, we kind of missing thatin the WNBA, right?
So again, they came up well inthat situation.
But not only that.
Again, y'all peep Like KelseyPlum is here on the picture, but
Jewel Lloyd's name is still inthe mix and right now, currently
constructed.
Jewel Lloyd has not beenplaying the best basketball, but
you know who has been NnekaSkyler, like these players,

(02:41):
gabby Williams, the EricaWheeler these players have been
playing pretty well.
So again, ladies and gentlemen, when I'm talking about, they
robbed my spark.
So let's look at this, shall we?
2024, we traded for Kia Nurseand the number four pick Now
that ended up being Rekia.
So I'm not mad at that.

(03:02):
Like in 2024, we got RekiaJackson because of the Seattle
Storm.
So I'm not mad at that.
Like in 2024, we got RekiaJackson because of the Seattle
Storm.
I'm not mad.
I'm not mad.
But then we lose our secondround pick in 2026, and we get
Kelsey Plum.
We don't have any picks, by theway, this season, and this

(03:24):
upcoming draft, and thisupcoming draft looks pretty good
.
You know who does have picksthough the Seattle Storm.
And again, let's pull up theirroster, because y'all see how
they doing.
Y'all see how they doing right, like, does this not look good
to you?
Nneka Skyler, gabby, ericaEzzie, that's a solid starting
five, but then Dominique Malongacoming off the bench, you also

(03:46):
got Alicia Clark, who's off thebench as well, lexi Brown, zia
Cook.
They have depth, ladies andgentlemen, even a Tiffany
Mitchell, like they have depth, but, most importantly, they have
balance from an age perspective.
We have vets, we have youth.
So the Storm, they couldactually draft pretty well and

(04:09):
start building for the futureand this upcoming draft.
I mean, depending on where theyrank, I think they get our pick
and that might be a top pick.
Like that could genuinely be atop pick, ladies and gentlemen.
So if the Seattle Storm do geta pick, a top pick, I'm
wondering who are they going topick?

(04:31):
Because, again, they're acontending team right now and
they got the stars, like likeNneka is top five.
Skylar Diggins she's a topthree point guard in the WNBA
worst case top five.
Ezi Magbogor is one of the bestyoung bigs in the game.

(04:53):
They also got Dominique Malanga, who I said can dunk the ball
pretty casually.
I'm talking about doing a spin, move and dunk, like in
transition.
That's crazy.
And then we got to talk aboutGabby Williams, who might be the
best perimeter defender.
Like this Seattle Storm team ispretty tough and you're saying
that this team is going to beable to retool because of my
squad tool, because of my squad.

(05:15):
Now, with my squad, the SparksI'll give us.
We have pressure on us.
We've been doing pretty well.
We've been doing pretty wellrecently, as of recent, but we
still got to make it to theplayoffs, ladies.
And we got pressure on ReteaJackson because, again, I talked
about how we traded for thisplayer.

(05:38):
Mind you, kia Nurse is nolonger on our squad, so 2024, we
traded for a player to not havethem on our team.
No more.
There's a little bit ofpressure on Rekia because we got
to show some sort of productionor else that was just a failed
tenure.
Now, kelsey Plum, you requestedto be traded here.

(06:00):
I think it's fair to say youknow what.
We have pressure on Kelseybecause she requested the trade.
Rekia because, well, you knowwhat.
We do need to see someproduction and, quite frankly,
if we didn't have that, we wouldhave been okay with missing the

(06:20):
playoffs this year because wewould have been able to have a
draft pick, but we had to tradea little bit.
So, again, our focus is onplayoffs this year.
Pressure on them For the SeattleStorm.
Ladies and gentlemen, who isthe pressure on?
Like who would the pressure beon?

(06:43):
Because right now they just gotto go out there and hoop.
So I guess right now it couldbe Nneka and them.
But the young guns don't haveno pressure as of yet.
That's decent.
Now, if they do draft, well, right, let's say they get a top
three pick, let's say they getthe number one pick.
Do you draft Lauren Betts, eventhough you have Dominique

(07:03):
Milonga already?
That would be prettyinteresting.
6'7", 6'5".
I think we could be talkingabout something kind of
interesting.
Olivia Miles, does she meetSkylar Diggins' timetable too?
Because you could train Oliviaup and pair her with Skylar.

(07:24):
That could be a possibility.
Olivia can play off-ball too.
That's a possibility, I'm justsaying.
Tenaya Watson, I'd beinterested to see how that shit.
They could go a coupledirections with this, ladies and
gentlemen.
But again, the Storm.
They've been doing well and Igot to tip my cap to them
because it's been at the.
They got us a little bit, theygot my girls a little bit, and

(07:45):
they got us a little bit, theygot my girls a little bit.
So again, tip of the cap to theStorm, and that's why I think
them and the Lynx are going tobe one of the best teams for the
future.
Again, they're thinking aboutthe future, they're preparing
for the future right now.
And, oh, it's crazy, because, again, they do such a phenomenal
job.
They really truly do.
We really should talk moreabout them because, yeah, they

(08:07):
do such a phenomenal job, theyreally truly do.
We really should talk moreabout them because, yeah, they
do wonders.
But, ladies and gentlemen, I amcurious what y'all think about
the storm.
Like, were there any pressuredplayers that I missed?
Do y'all agree that the stormare doing a wonderful job, or
did my Sparks actually dosomething?
Because I mean, let's be honesttoo, now my Sparks do have

(08:28):
talent.
We could boast a team that hasKelsey Plum, rekia Jackson,
cameron Brink, azareh Stevensand De'Erica Hamby as a starting
five, and that's an extremelytall lineup.
Kelsey Plum can shoot withreckless abandon.
That's an extremely tall lineup.
Kelsey Plum can shoot withreckless abandon.
So can Rekia Jackson, becausewe should get the rebounds over

(08:50):
most teams.
But again, though, we've got todevelop that cohesion, and I
don't know if we're going to beable to have that because
Cameron Brink's coming back offinjury.
So maybe my sparks might turnout better than we imagined in
the near future.
But for right now, it does seemas though the Storm are doing a
wonderful job at balancing thepresent as well as focusing for

(09:12):
the future.
So, again, when we're talkingabout top organizations, maybe
in basketball we might beconsidering the Seattle Storm as
one of the best basketballorganizations.
Period, point blank.
But, ladies and gentlemen, that's about all the time I got.
So I'm curious what y'all onethought about the show, of
course.
Two, have you been payingattention to the WNBA?

(09:35):
If not, you should, becausethere's a lot of storylines to
follow.
But three, let me know whaty'all think in the comments
section about everything that Isaid thus far.
If there's anything that y'allfelt was wrong, let me know.
I want to hear that.
But until next time, ladies andgentlemen.
So please make sure to likesubscribe, comment, tell anyone
who's anyone about the show.
My name is Trey.
I'm the host of Get a Bucket.

(09:55):
Hope you all are having a goodone.
Take care, All right.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
