The WNBA 2025 All-Star selections stir controversy with Caitlin Clark named captain despite playing only 10 games, while stars like Arike Ogunbowale miss out entirely.

• Napheesa Collier and Caitlin Clark named captains based on fan votes
• Starters include Paige Bueckers (sixth rookie ever to start), Alicia Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Aaliyah Boston, Satou Sabally, Nneka Ogwumike, Brianna Stewart, and A'ja Wilson
• Kayla Thornton makes her first All-Star appearance after 11 seasons, including being waived early in her career
• Significant snubs include Arike Ogunbowale, Brittany Sykes, and Kayla McBride

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up everybody.
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show.
Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and, asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day.
Today we're going to talk aboutmy WNBA 2025 All-Star
predictions and expectations.
But before we do that, pleasemake sure to hit that like and
subscribe button, comment, tellanyone who's anyone about the
show, try to get the ratings upa little bit.
You know, just a little bit.

(00:21):
But, like I said, ladies andgentlemen, we're going to talk
about the all-star gamepredictions for the wmba 2025,
and it should be a good one.
Um, we got a couple of teams, acouple of players, just well,
to talk about, because they'vealready made the selections, as
you see here.
But, um, what makes my all-starselection, before we get into

(00:41):
the names, right?
Well, I'm going to say there's23 games that you about, 23
games you got to play, so I'dlike to see my all-stars play
about 15 games.
15 is the number that I said.
I might show a little leeway,but 15, I would really like it
if you hit 15, okay.
Then also your individual stats.
They need to be all-star-esque,right, like you'll see what

(01:04):
they look like as we talk moreabout them.
And then your individual stats.
They need to be all-star-esque,right Like.
You'll see what they look likeas we talk more about them.
And then your team success.
That does factor in if we'regoing to talk about who we're
going to shortchange, who we'regoing to snub.
So, with that being said, Iwant to talk about the captains,
then the starters, then thereserves, then the, the snubs,

(01:26):
and then concluding with thewinners.
So, with that being said, thecaptains, which were based on
the fan votes we got nefisacollier and caitlyn clark.
All right, caitlyn clark hadthe most fee, went second.
So tip of the cap to both ofthem.
Good job, ladies.
You know, I'm saying the fansvoted y'all as the captains.

(01:46):
Now the starters.
The starters, ladies andgentlemen, we have as follows
page beckers kaylin clark, as Isaid, uh, alicia gray, sabrina
ian eskew, alia boston, nefisacollier, like I mentioned, satu
sabali, neko gumike, bri, brianna Stewart and Asia Wilson,
of course.
Now the starters quite decent, quite decent.

(02:11):
The reserves not bad either.
We have Alyssa Thomas, ryan, howard Skylar, diggins, Angel
Reese, courtney Williams, gabbyWilliams, jackie Young, kayla
Thornton, Kelsey Mitchell, soniaCitrone, kiki Erieffen and
Kelsey Plum.
Now the captains.

(02:36):
I have a gripe with the captains, ladies and gentlemen, reason
why I have a gripe with thecaptains is because of this.
I have a gripe with thecaptains is because of this
Caitlin Clark's only played 10games, point in time, and I told
y'all my threshold forall-stars is 15.
Now, if she plays all of hergames up until the all-star game

(02:58):
, she will have played 14 games.
That's tough games.
That's tough Like.
I'm not the biggest fan of herbeing the all-star captain
because at the time she had ninegames.
So I would have liked to seethe third person, the person

(03:19):
with the third most fan votes,be the captain instead of
Kaitlyn Clark, which would havein fact been her teammate
Aaliyah Boston.
So you know what Fever fans youstill captain instead of
Kaitlyn Clark, which would havein fact been her teammate
Aaliyah Boston.
So you know what Fever fans youstill get selected as the
captains.
All right, now here's my thing.
Now we got the captains out ofthe way again.
You know cool Starters forPaige.
Tip of the cap to Paige because, well, she's the sixth rookie

(03:42):
to start in the WNBA's All-Stargame.
That's not bad.
That's not bad All-Starperformance expectations,
thinking about eight to tenpoints, six to eight assists,
three rebounds, one steal, oneblock.
We're throwing like a turnover.
You know what I'm saying, butI'm expecting that those won't

(04:03):
be bad stats at all, and shecould eclipse those.
She very well could.
But again, those are myexpectations.
Now, when we're talking aboutthe reserves, well, I'm sorry,
let me stay on the starters realquick, because I got to talk.
I talked about the rookies.
Let me give some love to thevets.
You know what I'm sayingBecause, neca, this is your 10th
season, third most, all time, behind Stewie, I mean behind Sue

(04:27):
Bird and DT.
That's lovely.
So you got.
You know Timber the Cat, and ifshe plays in the all-star games
for about four most seasons, she, in the All-Star game for
about four most seasons, shouldbe number one.
Dang, I keep thinking I have myNECA jersey on.
That's crazy, but that's okaybecause we're talking about the
All-Star selection.
So I might as well have herjersey up.
I might as well hold this upthere as her jersey.
Hell, she doing her thing.

(04:47):
So again, neca, tip of the capto you.
You know.
You always got a special placein my heart.
Speaking of vets, though, whenwe slide on down to the reserves
.
Ladies and gentlemen, kaylathornton, this, this is our
first, this is our firstall-star and I love this for her
because over what 11 seasons?

(05:09):
This is her first all-star andit's with the valkyries in their
first season.
Keep in mind, kayla thornton isan NBA, is a WNBA champion,
like she's someone who's been asolid role player in the WNBA,
but also something that spokevolumes to me too.
She was waived her secondseason.
So the fact that she was ableto come back and have an

(05:31):
all-star career, have a solidcareer, I love that for Kayla.
So I'm definitely going to tryto make a highlight packet for
Kayla, because I love this typeof storyline for people.
I'm telling you right now soyou got to watch her.
But, ladies and gentlemen, weare at the point where we got to
talk about the snubs.
We do, yeah, we do, oh, my gosh.

(05:53):
Like, for example, was SkylarDiggins Smith?
I'm sorry, but Skylar Diggins,my bad.
Was Skylar Diggins snubbed as astarter?
Now, keep in mind I talkedabout Paige Beckers, and you
know being a starter, the sixthrookie to start, cool, could we
have actually replaced eitherCaitlin Clark or Paige Beckers?

(06:16):
Because and let's use Paige asan example Skylar was 7th in
scoring and 4th in assists.
Her team was higher than theWings too.
Now, paige was 11th in scoringand 6th in assists.

(06:36):
They're like Skylar could havegotten a starter spot, or how
about someone like Alyssa Thomas?
Well, she stubbed the starter, the starter spot.
Now, keep in mind Satu Sabaliis starting and Satu is number
one in scoring and rebounding onher team.
So, I get, those are thehighlighting stats, right, but

(06:57):
let's not forget, too, alyssaThomas is second in scoring,
rebounding and steals and blocks, which she's tied for, and then
she's first in assists on herteam, which is number two in the
WNBA.
I feel like that could have beenstarter-esque, but then you got
to ask me okay, well, who am Igoing to try to take off, and it
does get a little tricky.

(07:18):
So I do hear you like, butsomebody could have been,
somebody could have gotten theboot.
I don't know.
It might be Satu or Nneka.
That's tough to say, though, because, again, nneka's been.
I don't know, bro, that's tough.
Nneka top five, but Alyssa topfive too.
Ooh, it's tough.
How about someone like BrittanySykes?
Because I mean, like SoniaCitrone, kiki Uriyef, and they

(07:42):
deserve to be in the all-starselection.
I understand that you say theydeserve it.
I hear that Brittany Sykes,I've always said, is a WNBA star
, just without the cachet, andthis is a fine example of why I
say that.
Again, the efficiency isprobably what brings her down.
But again, ladies and gentlemen, brittany Sykes was giving me 19

(08:02):
points, four rebounds, fiveassists, 1.1 steals and 0.4
blocks, like she was leading.
She's the leader of this team.
It just sucks that we can'tgive her the all-star selection.
I get it.
It's only so many selections,no-transcript.

(08:32):
If I had to take off the lasttwo, I will say they were my
last two.
So, de'erica Azare, you knowy'all, y'all was on that cusp.
I'm not gonna say snub, it's aclose call, though it was tough.
You know what I'm saying.
Your stats was cool.
We close to the bottom too, though.
So I hear it too.
Though the wings right, thewings.

(08:52):
They got a whole starter inthere.
Well, that brings me to Arike.
Arike didn't get a start.
She ain't get a reserve spot.
Ladies and gentlemen, ArikeAgumbawale, not in the all-star
game is wild to hear.
All right, but that's the worldwe live in today, and now it
makes you think dang, arike'steam is at the bottom.

(09:16):
She ain't an all-star.
I know I've talked aboutearlier if the organization is
going to try to trade her ShouldArike want out?
Granted, you know, I'm sure shelikes playing with Paige.
From a timeline perspective, does it really fit?
So that I hate that too?
Because, again, this isaffecting the individual

(09:38):
production, which Arike is abucket.
A bucket, ladies and gentlemen.
So I really hate the fact thatshe couldn't be an all-star this
year and, full disclosure, shewas an all-star for me.
Yes, sir.
And then you know, kayla's KaylaMcBride not getting selected
apparently rubbed people thewrong way, especially.
You know, the Lynx is doingpretty well this year and
Kayla's played the.
She's hit the game threshold, like her stats ain't bad.

(09:59):
You know what I'm saying.
But here's the thing though, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going
to give you my reserves becausethe starters y'all heard my
gripe about the starters, reallythe captains, or one of the
captains, kaitlyn Clark, right, that's only game threshold, by
the way, I'm not talking game, game threshold meaning how many
games they played.
My reserves were going to bethis Alyssa Thomas, ryan, howard
, arike Agumbawale, skylarDiggins, angel Reese, courtney

(10:21):
Williams, gabby Williams, jackieYoung, kayla Thornton, kelsey
Mitchell, brittany Sykes andKelsey Plum.
So my differences were Arikeand Brittany instead of Sonia
and Kiki.
That's the main differences.
Those are the two differences.
If you want to take KaitlynClark because the game's out
cool, then we could talk abouteither an Azare or a De'Arica,

(10:43):
something like that, but y'allmight say Sonia or Kiki.
I'm curious.
But again, those are myreasonings, those are my snubs,
which some of those I don't knowabout Because, for example, I
didn't have Kayla as an all-star.
I didn't, no disrespect, therewere just other people, for
example, gabby Williams.
She might not be the star ofthe team but, ladies and

(11:04):
gentlemen, she is leading theWNBA in steals like 2.6.
Did I get that right?
That's tough, that's tough.
So again, it is levels to this.
Not everybody can make the list.
I understand why some peopledid not make the cut, maybe not
a rekay, but like, okay, maybe Iget it too.
I don't, I don't actually, Idon't really get it.

(11:26):
I'm trying to understand.
But with that being said, ladies and gentlemen, y'all
heard my gripes, y'all heard mypositives about that.
Should be a wonderful one totune into.
So I hope y'all watching it.
But we gotta talk about thewinner predictions, right,
because the winners, well, youknow, it should be a good solid,
should be a solid time, right.
So I'm gonna just say I'mrocking with team collier on

(11:49):
this one.
Okay, reason why, bro, they gotfour of the top five players on
their team.
Like four of the top fiveplayers on their squad.
Easy, like, if you don't thinkthat's going to be a problem,
okay, and let's throw in too, they have less rookies on their

(12:12):
team.
So, yeah, you know, the rookieshave been balling this year.
Don't get me wrong, don't getme wrong, but I don't know, I'd
rather have experienced vetsstill in their primes in
comparison to the rookies.
But maybe that's just me,though.
Maybe that's just me Cause,again, I, I, I gotta admit these

(12:34):
girls have been hooping thisyear.
So, ladies and gentlemen, y'allheard my teams, y'all heard my
selections, y'all heard mygripes.
I am curious what y'all allthink about the episode and the

(12:55):
selections.
Are y'all happy with theselections?
Are y'all curious?
Y'all agree with me thatCaitlin Clark shouldn't be a
starter or a captain?
Granted, again, she was votedto be so, so cool.
But should there be, like agames played for all stars?
I, I thought so.
I, I personally thought so.
But maybe that, maybe that'sjust me.

(13:16):
Um, I'd like to know from y'all.
But, ladies and gentlemen, likeI said, that does conclude the
end of the episode.
I definitely greatly appreciatey'all for listening and, like I
said, we'll be tuning in alittle bit more for the WNBA
All-Star Game, so definitely beon the lookout for that.
We'll give a final episode,final predictions.

(13:38):
I'll probably go into a littlemore detail about each
individual player, right, andwhat I'm looking for, and then
also the post-reaction as welltoo.
I'll have that probably in thesame episode, but be on the
lookout for that.
But I hope you all are enjoyingthe episode.
Hope you all are enjoying theWNBA season, you all enjoying
the WNBA season.
Ladies and gentlemen, pleasemake sure to continue to like,

(14:01):
subscribe, comment, tell anyonewho's anyone about the show.

I'm the host of Get a Bucket.
Hope you all are having a goodone.
Take care, all right.
Did I forget anything?
No, all right.
Don't forget anything.
No, all right.
