Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's up everybody.
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and, asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day.
Today we're going to talk aboutmy WNBA 2025 updates, but
before we do that, please makesure to hit that like and
subscribe button.
Comment, tell anyone who'sanyone about the show, try and
get the ratings up a little bit.
You know just a little bit, but, like I said, ladies and
gentlemen, we're going to talkabout my.

(00:25):
There it goes, wnba 2025updates.
So, with that being said, right,we got a couple of.
Let's go ahead and talk aboutthe standings, shall we?
Let's go ahead and talk aboutthe standings.
So we have here the MinnesotaLynx at number one, the Phoenix
Mercury at number two, the NewYork Liberty at number three,
the Mercury at number two, theNew York Liberty at number three
, the Atlanta Dream at numberfour, the Seattle Storm at
number five, Golden StateValkyries number six, indiana

(00:49):
Fever Commissioner Cup champsnumber seven.
Las Vegas Aces number eight.
Washington Mystics number nine.
Los Angeles Sparks number 10.
Dallas Wings number 11.
Chicago Sky number 12.
And the Connecticut Sun number13.
All right, well, we do have acouple of teams that I did want

(01:12):
to talk about.
Matter of fact, let's go aheadand go, in order from how I
sounded excitement-wise, right.
So let's go ahead and talkabout the Golden State Valkyries
because, like I said, ladiesand gentlemen, they are number
six.
Right?
So let's go ahead and talkabout the Golden State Valkyries
Because, like I said, ladiesand gentlemen, they are number
six.
They're number six.
That's ridiculous.
Shout out Kayla Thornton, tiffany Hayes, veronica Burke.

(01:33):
Like y'all have been doing,y'all, y'all been playing y'all
asses off.
I ain't gonna hold y'allPlayoff contention.
Is it wrong for them to not aimfor a top three pick?
Like I can see this teamneeding rim protection, need
elite level rebounding.
Lauren Betts could fit thatmold, but currently constructed

(01:55):
you know, lauren Betts issupposed to go number one.
Well, golden State Valkyrie, they're not going to be fighting
for the number one pick at thisrate, they're trying to win it
all at this rate.
That's what I'm saying.
So I'm curious if the GoldenState Valkyries are doing a
disservice to themselves.
You know, kayla Thornton, she, hooping her tail off the
all-star caliber, selectedTiffany Hayes.

(02:18):
He was playing well too.
Like the team has goodchemistry, they got a chip on
their shoulder, so of coursethey're gonna play well, but
again, ladies and gentlemen, Ido wonder if they're doing a
disservice to themselves.
But let's see what happens, because we got a lot more
basketball to talk about.
We got a lot more basketball towatch, but a team that I do

(02:38):
have some questions about, thenew york liberty.
All right, hear me out, hear meout, hear me out because hear
me out, hear me out because youknow what I'm saying.
These girls have been hoopingand I've talked about them quite
extensively.
Okay, my thing is this they'velost out of nine games, six like

(02:59):
recently.
They lost nine like you onlywin three games.
Keep in mind they wereundefeated for quite some time.
So I expect them to lose.
But damn, going three for six, three out of nine, that's tough.
Also, you lose Phoebus she notreturning, that's a major issue.
She playing the Euro basketballSome major issue right there

(03:20):
for me.
Then you already haveBenazulani hamilton not playing
on the squad.
That's why you got in the cop.
That's why you got natashacloud, which the liberty were on
cloud nine prior to thesechange-ups.
Jonquil jones ankle injury.
Well, now we got a question ais the bench deep enough?

(03:41):
Also, I mean, I mean, look, Ilove Stewie.
You know what I'm saying shedoing.
All right, sabrina, I wouldlike to see a little bit better
efficiency out of you.
I'm just saying, like, from thethree-point percentage it was
down from like 37 to 32.
We could uptick that a littlebit.

(04:02):
If I'm talking about getting myworries for this Liberty squad
down, because, again, brandonStewart, sabrina Ionescu,
they're arguably one of the bestduos in the WNBA.
I'm sorry, they're arguably thebest duo in the WNBA.
They're missing John QuayleJones.
They're losing a little bit ofdepth.
I'm not jumping ship yet.

(04:23):
I'm just saying, ladies andgentlemen, I got a little bit of
worries.
Okay, that's all, that's all.
But they still out there as acontender for me.
So you know I ain't going tosay, but so much Now.
Another team that we got to talkabout Doug, and this one we do
have to talk about the Las VegasAces.
Look, ladies and gentlemen, allthe Las Vegas Aces.

(04:45):
Look, ladies and gentlemen, allright, eighth seed, she looking
a little grim.
Now, keep in mind they didtrade for Nelissa Smith, so you
do start to add some depth.
Right, they didn't haveCheyenne Parker, she out, get it
Cool.
I'm curious what Nelissa'simpact is going to be overall.
I do think adding someone likeher.

(05:07):
That's the number two pick, I'dsay about a double-double
player, right, and if she gavethe effort that I think she has
defensive showcase or defensivestopper right there, I'm telling
you right now.
But maybe she pairs with theAces plays with Asia, maybe she

(05:28):
pairs with the aces plays withAsia.
Something rubs off, we'll findout, but is there a fit with
Asia?
Again, I do think so.
She can play the five or thefour.
Asia's versatile enough to playthe four or the five, so you
can do a nice little pairing.
My problem with this, though, isthis my problem with the
Melissa signing is this yougotta bring her off the bench.
I think first season, becauseI'm pushing for Jewel Lloyd to
her off the bench.
I think first.
First season because I'mpushing for jewel lloyd to come
off the bench too, and if we canget a duo combo with jewel

(05:51):
lloyd and alyssa smith, I dothink that helps out for an
alyssa smith, because it getsher paired with a former star,
at least like somebody with somecash meanwhile.
Hey, jewel, you get your ownsquad again.
I would appreciate that.
I know you're trying to gel wellwith the Aces.
I think you need to come offthe bench.
Sweetie, that's just mepersonally.

(06:12):
The efficiency was always notthere, and it's just the scoring
ain't matching it either, likewe need to see something better.
So maybe against the secondunit it'll work out nicely, and
her pair with Melissa SmithAgain a rebound and play A young
double-double force.
I project that's what I see outof Melissa Smith I think Jewel
Lloyd could use that and theAces and the Aces.

(06:34):
But I mean they need somethingthough, because again, ladies
and gentlemen, they're likeeighth right now.
That's kind of crazy.
Still contenders for me, stillcontenders.
But I got to say, though, theygot to turn it around real quick
.
Now, another team that peoplewere saying they need to turn

(06:54):
around real quick is the IndianaFever.
Now, the Indiana Fever, ladiesand gentlemen, they did win
Commissioner Cup, like they didwin the Commissioner Cup without
Kaitlyn Clark.
So let's not act like the teamis trash.
Let's not act like the teamisn't good.
The team can still be viewed asa contender.

(07:16):
They just got to prove it.
Still, that's what I've beensaying, but they did take a jump
in winning the Commissioner Cup.
Here's the thing, though whathappens I want to hear the
narratives If the Fever loseearly in the playoffs with
Kaitlyn Clark, but they won theCommissioner Cup without her.
Shout out Todd for winning thefinals.

(07:37):
Mvp Aaliyah Boston was doing herthing.
Kelsey Mitchell was lookinglike the stud that she is, like
bro.
This team looked solid.
So I am curious what thenarratives are going to be if
Kaitlyn Clark comes back andthey don't look as good.
The cohesion don't seem thesame.
That's something we got to note.
Also, I think we got to starttalking about Aaliyah Boston

(08:00):
being the best player on theIndiana Fever and keep in mind
you could put her in a DraymondGreen role to pair with Kaitlyn
Clark, and I think that couldwork out swimmingly.
And again, again, if I'm sayingshe's the most dominant player
on her team, she's the bestplayer on her team.
We got a double, double.
She's also getting you with theassist as well too.

(08:20):
Not turning the ball over toomuch.
Defense could get a littleuptick for me in terms of
dominance, but like she has thecapability and that's six, four,
six, five.
With the mobility and size thatshe is, that's going to be very
helpful for the fever.
So again, I think alia bostonmight be the best player on the
indiana fever.
Ladies and gentlemen, I heary'all, caitlin clark's the best

(08:43):
one.
I hear you, I hear you.
Don't overlook alia boston atall.
Honestly, kelsey mitchell too,because she's a perennial
All-star.
Now, again, I've mentioned theyhave a good team.
Them losing Dewana Bonner Isgoing to be interesting to note

(09:03):
too, because, well, they won theCommissioner Cup without Dewana
Bonner and it was seeming that.
Well, you know, there was somefriction between Dewana and the
squad.
So, dewana, you got some eyeson you.
Sweetie, I ain't gonna hold you, you got some eyes on you.
And matter of fact, matter offact.
Matter of fact speaking ofDewana, actually, let's just go

(09:26):
ahead and talk about this squadright here.
The phoenix mercury, okay, thephoenix mercury.
Ladies and gentlemen, they gotdewana bonner you know I'm
saying recently signed.
There was, that was theexpectation.
Um, this was my predictionslash wish for last year.
Like I wanted dewana bonner andalissa thomas to both join the

(09:52):
squad and they did.
I wouldn't have been mad ifthey had parted ways, which they
did, but I'm happy that they'reable to join the same squad
Again.
Imagine the lineup of SatuSabali, kalia Copper, alyssa
Thomas, dejuanna Bonner and pickanybody else.
That's ridiculous on paper andif they hit him, that's three

(10:33):
and d players surrounding alissathomas.
Oh my gosh, like this, this isabout to be marvelous.
And don't let, ladies andgentlemen, don't let the mercury
go up against the fever, because we've already seen one
dew.
Dejuanna Bonner was just on thefever, so now she's going up

(10:53):
against the fever again Because, remember, she put the clamps on
Kaitlyn Clark and them lastyear.
So you get a motivated DeJuannaBonner and a really good
Mercury team against this highlytouted fever squad.
Oh, I think that could be awonderful matchup.
Fine, like like playoffs.

(11:15):
Talk to me, we'll see whathappens.
And we're also putting a littlebit of pressure on the
commissioner cup.
Uh, history, right, because thelast two seasons at least, the
commissioner cup, uh,participants go to the finals.
I'm just saying, somebody do.
But I would love to see, yeah, this phoenix squad, because yeah
, that's gonna be, that's gonnabe lovely, that's gonna be
lovely.
Man, somebody do.
But I would love to see, yeah, this Phoenix squad, because yeah
, that's going to be lovely, that's going to be lovely.

(11:37):
Now I have to talk about mygirls.
I'm sorry.
Y'all see my sparks.
Y'all see I'm a sparks fan.
You know what I mean.
All right, so for starters, wehad Candace Parker her Jersey
retirement.
Shout out to Candace, one of myfavorite players Actually, no,
it's my favorite player of alltime that I watched Until she

(12:01):
swerved me, like when I watchedher live, I ain't gonna hold you
.
I tried calling out to her.
She didn't say nothing and shewas on the sideline too.
It's not like she was playing, ladies and gentlemen.
So she swerved me a little bit, hurt.
Nah, well, no, she did swerveme, but I'm just joking around.
But I love candace park and I'mloving the fact that we played
the chicago sky because of the.
Those are the two teams thatwill you count the aces?

(12:21):
Those are two teams that sheplayed against or that she
played on, and she was thedriving force in winning a
championship.
Okay, so I love the fact thatwe were able to retire her
jersey.
Yes, hated the fact we lost, but you know, it is what it is.
Um, here's my issue with Sparks.

(12:42):
Here's the issue with my Sparkswe are below the wing.
Well, we were below the wingswhen I had first taken a look at
our standards.
We above the wings now, butit's barely, and there's no
disrespect to the wings.
There's no disrespect to thewings.
They can hoop a little bit.
Here's my problem we traded thesecond pick for Kelsey Plum,

(13:02):
right.
Problem.
We traded the second pick forKelsey Plum, right.
So at no point in time shouldwe be right next to the number
one pick from this season.
I'm just saying, and thereshould be no reason why Kelsey
Plum is not out playing thenumber one pick from this season
I'm keep in mind.
I wanted Paige on my squad, soI'm pissed that we couldn't get
her, but it is what it is,though, but also we have three

(13:26):
all-star, caliber players,ladies and gentlemen.
We got Kelsey Plum, De'EricaHamby and Azrae Stephens on the
squad, rekia Jackson too withTom, and, if you want to talk
about Cameron Brink, well, westill got to see what she pan
out to be right, especiallypost-injury, but we have three
caliber, all-star players on thesquad, ladies and gentlemen,
and you mean to tell me wereally could not get?

(13:47):
Like?
We really could not.
We really couldn't get higherthan where we are, bro, it's
tough, and I'm irritated so muchbecause there is some pressure
on our Sparks squad to make theplayoffs, not win the final, not
win the championship.

(14:07):
We can make a playoff run, though, like we can make it at
minimum to the first round, likejust make the playoffs.
But right now it ain't lookingthat way.
We're looking a littlelackluster, but we got the
talent to be better than that.
At least better than average.
Above average is all I'm askingfor year one.
If we can't do that, I don'tknow what we I don't know.

(14:29):
Oh my God.
And again I got called spade tospade.
But, kelsey, you requested atrade.
You got to come out and performand you got to outclass the
youngins.
I'm sorry, you do do.
And right now you're not justcalling a spade a spade and and,
and, if you are, if you're asparks fan, you, you, you really

(14:53):
should understand that.
Hey, dog, I'm feeling the wayI'm feeling because I
anticipated having page on mysquad and now we got this.
Now we're looking to bepotentially at the bottom of the
barrel.
We were a number two seed fromthe bottom, like we were the
12th ranked team in the WNBA.
That's tragic and we have thatmuch talent.
Pissed off, so pissed off.

(15:16):
So again, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, if y'all
following me, if, if, if yallfollowing me, this is where I'm
upset about the WNBA.
Now again, you see my sparks.
We tied with the wings.
We could be below the sky.

(15:36):
We really could, and when youthink about where we were, we
shouldn't be there.
But a lot of other teams aredoing pretty well.
And keep in mind too, seedingsaren't the most you know like,
aren't the worst thing.
Again, the Indiana Fever theywon the Commissioner Cup as the
seventh seed.
The Golden State Valkyries justjoined the WNBA to sixth seed.

(15:56):
The Aces are the eighth seed, but could still win a
championship, like that's whatwe're talking about.
So I'm not going to try to puttoo too too much pressure on
this, but yeah, it's looking alittle.
I'm a little perturbed.
I ain't going to hold y'all,but I mean I'm curious what
y'all think about the WNBAseason so far.
Did I miss anything yet?

(16:19):
And if so, sit tight, because Iactually might be talking about
some other stuff on another day, very, very soon.
So if y'all not peeping, I didjust conclude the show though.
So I definitely thank y'all forlistening.
But I am curious, though, whaty'all thought about the episode.
Please make sure to commentlike subscribe all that good
stuff, but definitely make surethat you're watching WNBA,

(16:40):
because it's a hoot and a half.
It's a lot of entertainment andthese girls be getting a bucket
.
But, ladies and gentlemen, thatdoes conclude the end of the
episode.
Like I said, my name is TreyWilder.
I'm the host of Get a Bucket.
