Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's up everybody?
It's your favorite show'sfavorite show Get a Bucket.
I'm your host, trey, and, asusual, I hope you're all having
a wonderful, wonderful day.
Today we're going to talk aboutthe WNBA expansion teams, but
before we do that, please makesure to hit that like and
subscribe button, comment andtell anyone who's anyone, about
the show, trying to get theratings up a little bit.
You know, just a little bit,but little bit.
Like I said, ladies andgentlemen, today we're going to
talk about the expansion teams, and we got to talk about that
(00:27):
timeline, right.
Because, well, well, you knowwhat, let's bring them up, shall
we?
Let's go ahead and bring themup, because we got, we got five
more teams, got five more teamsto talk about.
Uh, we got the valkyries, whichwe've already seen, right, and
they're doing their thing outthere.
Shout out to the valkyries,right.
But we also have here theToronto Tempos, which come in
2026, as well as the Portland.
Well, we'll figure it out lateron, but I got a couple ideas,
(00:50):
but they're coming in 2026 aswell.
Then we also have the Clevelandyeah, we're gonna figure out
what to call them too, butthey're coming in 2028.
And then, finally, we gotDetroit.
Yeah, whatever they call themin 2029.
And then Philly, we figure itout in 2030.
So we have a nice littletimeline for WNBA teams.
(01:10):
So I love the fact that we'regoing to have 18 WNBA teams by
2030.
And that's going to come soonerrather than later too.
Like dang, that time really isgoing to be.
Let's not talk about how fasttime is going to fly, because I
got a couple of names I want tothrow out there for some of the
(01:31):
new teams, right, and I justwant to hear what people think
the fans think.
So for the Portland, we'llfigure it out.
I'm thinking, maybe Blazers huh, huh, like you know what I'm
saying Like Portland Blazers, portland Trail Blazers, portland
Blazers I think that might beable to work.
How about the Pioneers?
I don't know.
(01:52):
Okay, possibly you know whatI'm saying.
The Playmakers let's figure itout.
I like the Blazers personally.
I like the Blazers personally.
How about, then?
Let's go with Cleveland Now?
Blazers, personally, I like theblazers personally.
How about, then let's go with?
Let's go with cleveland now?
(02:12):
You know they were newlyapproved.
Um, they, they were.
They were formerly the rockers, right, I don't know if y'all
rocking with that, though.
Um, the queens, how about thequeens.
Could y'all roll with thequeens?
I'm wondering, how about thedefenders?
Like I run, I ran these namesby a fan of the of of of
cleveland, in general clevelandsports, and she was cool with
the queen.
The defenders, I don't, I don't.
Maybe I got that backwards, Igotta recheck.
(02:34):
I gotta recheck.
She was cool with one of them.
She was cool with one of them, though.
The rockers, though she's notthe, she's not the fan of, and,
keep in mind, that's theincumbent name too.
That's crazy, that crazy.
That's what it is, though, butthe Cleveland, whatever they're
going to be, this is a gooddraft class, because 2028,
ladies and gentlemen, is whenwe're talking about players like
a Sarah Strong, toby Fournieryou know what I'm saying.
Sarah Strong is out of UConn, toby Fournier is out of Duke.
(02:55):
You know how we do, you knowwhat I'm saying.
So, again, solid draft class.
Uh, for the cleveland, whateverthey call them to be looking for
, to draft it, although theymight get fifth, which sucks
tough.
Uh, how about the detroit?
And you know, it's a new team, right, the shocks, the detroit
shocks.
That's the incumbent name.
Cool, I hear it.
(03:16):
Right, like I.
You know tulsa, now wings they.
That was the past, but we cango back to having the detroit
shock now, even though theytechnically the Dallas Wings,
let's figure it out.
But if y'all don't want to gothat route, cool.
How about the DetroitTransformers?
No, all right.
The Detroit Dynamos?
(03:36):
No, no, all right.
Well, I would love to see whatthis Detroit team come out to be
, especially when the Pistonsare coming.
Ooh, if they can get somethingshaking by the time the Pistons
are rocking too, that would belovely.
But let's go ahead and go ondown to 2030.
The Philadelphia, whatever wewant to call them.
Y'all have heard this namebefore, so we're going to spin
(03:57):
the block batting one more time.
The Pioneers Hmm, nothing, something, I see nothing,
something.
I see somebody, someone.
I got a couple likes.
All right, that's cool.
Um, the philadelphia bells someof y'all like that one.
Some of them like that one, Ithink so.
I think I got a couple of, Ithink I got a couple smiles out
there.
Uh, the philadelphia loves okay, all right.
(04:20):
All right, that that might betoo.
Yeah, I can see that going alittle left.
All right that the PhiladelphiaFreedom Fighters Hold off on it
.
Let's hold off on it.
I bells could be the winner, though, but freedom fighters,
you know I'm saying I might notbe mad at that.
Now here's the thing.
Okay, now we've already talkedabout all of these teams, wnba
(04:43):
cities, right, the IndianaFevers.
Sophie Cunningham made awonderful statement and she said
, you know, she questionsbasically the excitement of the
fans of these, of these cities,of these cities, like, like
sophie cunningham is questioning, questioning toronto, portland,
(05:06):
cleveland, detroit and philly, and she believed that some
better alternatives could havebeen out there, like like a mi,
a Kansas City, a Nashville, right, and I do hear that
Because, also, I told you guys,I brought a Cleveland sports fan
on the show before and I ranacross some names, right and
(05:30):
well, on another episode of mineI did state, well, I would not
be mad if I saw Miami up here, right, kansas City, tennessee, I
, she said Nashville, I saidTennessee, cool, right, like
Boston, I could have seenHouston, like we could have seen
those, I would have been ableto those.
I do get the appeal to bringingthose teams, those cities, new
(05:55):
teams.
I thought Boston actually wasabout to do that.
That's what's crazy, and whenyou think about it I mean, all
right, let's think about this, right, because who wouldn't want
to play in Miami.
I do get her statement on that.
Let's get some alternativenames for some of these cities.
Right, like Miami, we got thebeaches.
(06:17):
The Miami beaches.
Oh my gosh, yo, that is crazy.
I'm telling y'all right nowthat would be hilarious.
But no, seriously, all right.
So the Miami Fuegasgas, youknow, I'm saying like the miami
(06:38):
flames, the miami torches, likethat could be cool, although if
y'all trash y'all, you gottorched.
That's good that that one couldbackfire, but I do see the
appeal.
Also, the name is kind of cooltoo.
So again, I do hear you onmiami.
How about kansas city?
I'm still working on this one, but, like the chieftains, you
can call them the Tans for short.
(06:59):
See, I'm not really feelingthat one.
So until we can get a bettername, I don't know, patty
Mahomes and them just might nothave a WNBA squad to root for
right now.
How about Nashville, tennessee?
We can give them the Grizzlies.
You know what I mean.
I think that could work outEasy peasy.
Lemon squeezy.
(07:22):
Something about the BostonClovers.
I feel like that could work too.
Again, like Boston Celtics,boston Clovers.
I genuinely thought the BostonWNBA team was coming.
No-transcript between now and2030.
That does hurt.
That does hurt.
(07:43):
It also means too, that youknow, boston as a city ain't as
prominent as LA, that's all I'msaying.
Lakers is greater than Celticsand Sparks is greater than well,
you know the Clovers, I guess, right, how about Houston?
We could go Rockies, we couldgo Rockettes.
(08:03):
See, we got the Houston Rocketsand we got the Houston
Rockettes.
See, it's a little bitdifferent, but although I could
understand, there'd be a littlebit of issue with that.
Either way, ladies andgentlemen, I do understand
wanting to pair WNBA teams withthose cities.
Again, houston, nashville,kansas city.
(08:25):
I don't know about kansas cityas much, but I get why.
Nowadays too, again, bostonwould be smooth, houston
especially not.
Like, imagine if houston had awmba team and they were decent.
That would be an interestingdynamic, especially for the
future.
If Houston is continuouslytrending upwards the way, I
(08:49):
think it could be Miami gettinga WNBA squad.
Oh, you know they lit.
Oh, you know they lit.
And then imagine if Asia Wilsonjust so happened to want to hit
free agency during that timeperiod.
Like, imagine she went from lasvegas to miami, huh, huh, that
(09:11):
would have been interesting.
Like I'm just saying, I'm I'mnot, you know, but no, seriously
, I, I do love the fact that wehave the toronto tempos coming
up, the portland whatever, thecleveland, whatever, the det
Detroit, whatever and thePhiladelphia, whatever.
But, ladies and gentlemen, I dowonder if we can start sneaking
in some other teams too, Like aMiami, like a Kansas City, like
(09:33):
a Nashville, like a Boston,like a Houston.
That would be cool, that wouldbe cool.
So again, you know, I get it, Ido get it.
I just would like if we couldget a couple more teams, because
again, I'm being selfish rightnow.
You know what I'm saying, I'mbeing selfish.
Hell, I'd like for there to bemore teams in the USA for the
(09:57):
WNBA.
That means more basketball formyself and then also we get more
of these teams.
Hmm, what's that gonna do tothe schedule?
Because I mean, we can't keepit at 40 plus games now, like
it's gotta, it's gotta expand.
But then when does the seasonstart?
Oh man, see, now we about tostart getting questions.
(10:17):
All right, you know what?
I'm gonna get off my soapboxreal quick.
Ladies and gentlemen, as y'allcan tell, that does conclude the
end of the episode.
I should have paid attentionearlier.
My bad, but definitely.
Let me know what y'all thinkabout the expansion teams.
Are you guys happy about thefive teams that they've selected
, five cities that the WNBA hasselected, or should they have
selected other alternatives thatI listed off?
(10:39):
I mean, I get both sides, Igenuinely do.
But more importantly, we getmore teams, more basketball,
more potential stars to watch.
So I love it.
But I hope you all enjoy it anddefinitely continue to watch
the WNBA, but also continue towatch my show.
I greatly appreciate it.
But, ladies and gentlemen, thatdoes conclude the end of the
episode.
So definitely please make sureto like subscribe, comment, tell
