Today I'm chatting with Shayla Varnado of Black Girls Wine. Shayla is the founder of Black Girls Wine Society which is the very first wine sorority with 50 local chapters and over 400 members throughout the US. The Black Girls Wine society was Shayla’s solution to creating Sisterhood and adding diversity to the wine industry. An industry where only an estimated 0.1% of US wine makers and brand owners are Black and black consumers make up about 11 percent of wine drinkers in the country (as reported by the Wine Market Council Consumer Segmentation)
Shayla began sharing her favorite wines and wines of the week on her Weekly Winedown live series on IG and quickly began growing a flourishing community.
