When life throws unexpected pain our way, it can shake our faith. “Lord, I love You, so why did that happen?” Scripture is full of both miraculous rescues and tragic losses. The reality is, while we are not promised a life without suffering, we are promised that Jesus will walk with us through it. The key is to move from asking “Why?” to “What now?”—trusting that God can bring growth, healing, and redemption from our trials. Like Mary and Martha, we may struggle when God doesn’t act as we expect, but the end of this life is not the end of the story for those who trust in Jesus.

Embracing grief is a necessary step toward healing, just as the Bible shows us. But eventually, faith must be added to our pain so that suffering leads to perseverance, character, and hope. Paul reminds us in Philippians that to live is Christ and to die is gain—either way, we are called to stand firm in faith. If you’re in a season of heartache, may you find peace, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose in the Lord.
