GreatMan Podcast

Manhood is not merely a product of biology, but rather the result of maturing, learning, and experience. While being born male is a matter of genetics, becoming a man is a matter of choice. The GreatMan Podcast is here to equip men to make that choice by uniquely combining three diverse perspectives, blending academic insight with practical guidance to help men build greatness in every area of life. Unlike most podcasts, we tackle a single topic over two weeks: the first episode–“The Talk”–offers a broad overview led by New York Times bestselling author, Stephen Mansfield, while the following episode–“The Build”–focuses on practical steps led by men’s coaches, Anthony Flemons and JT McCraw, to integrate the theme into daily life. In all that we do, we believe that males are born, and men are built.

When life gets chaotic, most fathers default to either martyrdom or victimhood — grinding themselves into the ground or surrendering to their circumstances — and both paths lead to burnout, bitterness, and broken relationships. This episode with JT and special guest, Chris Tyrrell, unpacks why shrewd margin management isn't a luxury but a prerequisite for showing up well for the people who need you most. Because the goa...

Holding a moderate, nuanced view of women is harder than the extremes — it's easier to antagonize or idolize than to see clearly.

Women are susceptible to corruption, violence, betrayal, and anger—just like men are. When we stop expecting perfection from our complementary counterparts, we begin to see them for who they are: image-bearers of God. To do this, we must listen without defensiveness, lead without controlling,...

For most of ancient history, women were cast as treacherous and weakness-inducing — a view the Judeo-Christian tradition directly subverted by elevating women to authority, granting them enhanced rights, and honoring them as vessels of divine purpose. Though women have never held more cultural standing than they do today, the attitude toward them by unhealthy men still reeks of ancient prejudice; Today's young men are dating ...

Is your situation really "complicated," or are you just morally compromised?

Do you have a value system you live by, or do you prefer to float in the "complications?"

Are you unwilling to let others call you on your decisions?

How much information do you actually need to make a moral decision?

All of these questions, and more, in this episode of the GreatMan Podcast with Anthony Flemons and JT McCraw.

"It's complicated."

It sounds thoughtful. It sounds nuanced.

But it's really just a dodge.

Men often avoid making moral decisions by employing what they think is an explanation, but is really a deflection. Most moral issues aren't actually that complex; we just don't want to pay the price that a clear answer would demand. In this episode, Stephen challenges you to uncomplicate your moral vision and discover how clarity of conviction l...

What happens to a man when he stops believing tomorrow can be better than today? Men over 55 make up 28% of suicide deaths despite being only 12% of the population — and at the core of that crisis is a loss of FutureVision. In this episode, JT and Anthony explore what it means to have a "why" big enough to sustain you, the role of faith and load-bearing friendships in keeping that vision alive, and why moral decisions and mea...

What are you willing to die for? Because the answer to that question shapes how you live every single day. This week, Anthony and JT look at Thomas — history's favorite doubter — and find something most men miss: a man who had counted the cost and was ready to pay it. Complete with a phone-a-theologian segment to settle a scriptural disagreement, this very candid conversation leaves nothing off the table, and furthers t...

You may be familiar with the age-old story from the Bible of “doubting Thomas,” but do you know about Thomas’ stunning response to Jesus about the death of his friend Lazarus? As we examine the life and character of Thomas, we see a man who was radically committed to his friends and his cause. Just as all of the apostles had to decide so many years ago, we must ask ourselves today: Who am I willing to lay my life ...

Preserving our stories passes on not only our memories, but our greatest victories and our boldest warnings. These moments—ordinary and extraordinary—carry the weight of identity, connection, and belonging simply by being remembered and shared. In this episode, Anthony and Producer Jonas talk about the importance of sharing our stories, not always for the sake of teaching, but for the sake of the stories themselves.

In this episode, JT and Anthony take the conversation of courage from the situational to the relational.

Courage is practiced in seemingly small ways, through daily acts like telling the truth, owning your mistakes, and setting boundaries. When you consistently choose discipline over comfort and show up even when you don’t feel like it, you’re preparing yourself for the moments that truly matter—because courage is ...

Men are uniquely wired for systemizing, problem-solving, focus, and action. What's more, the brain is constantly reshaped by what you repeatedly do, meaning habits like mindless entertainment, doom-scrolling, and porn can quietly rewire it in destructive ways. The good news: your brain remains moldable for life, and the instrument inside your skull can always be sharpened by the choices you make every day. Jump in with Stephen to t...
