Speaker 1 (00:00):
According to a new Billboard study Billboard Records Billboard Magazine,
they've ranked the top stand up comedians of the twenty
first century twenty first century stand up comics, coming in
at number one, Dave Chappelle rounding out the top five,

(00:20):
Chris Rock, Louis c. K, John Mullaney, and Bill Burr.
Where was Seinfeld on that number six?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oh wow? Didn't make the top five?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Kevin Hart was seven, Norm MacDonald was eight. Man go
down the list of some more recognizable names, Robin Williams ten,
Nate Bargatzi twelve, Adam Sandler thirteen, Jim Gaffigan down at
twenty two, John Stewart twenty five. So as you look

(00:53):
at this list here, Nige, you good with Dave Chappelle
being number one.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, any list that includes Wanda Sykes is immediately discredited
in my book.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Oh she's at seventeen.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's horrible.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Wanda Sykes is above Jim Gaffigan and John Stewart.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Norm McDonald should be in the top five. I understand
why they have Dave Chappelle at number one. He's been
the most talked about controversial comedian over the past five years.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I'm good with Chris Rock at number two. I love
Chris Rock stand up. His Bring the Pain one from
the late nineties one of the best of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I have not seen a Louis c Case stand up show,
so I can't comment on that. I mean, I know,
obviously the controversy with him and the me too stuff,
But Cherry Seinfeld needs to be in the top five.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So Allison, as someone who goes to see comics on
the regular, you've seen a few comedy shows this year,
you good with this list?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I'm with you, guys. Chris Rock is a solid number two.
Dave Chappelle's pretty good at number one. I would put
Kevin Hart just a little higher because I feel like
my generation really got into stand up comedy when his
kind of special started going off.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Right, I feel like your generation is to Kevin Hart
as to what mine was to Chris Rock.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I would say that's accurate.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, I discovered a comedian named Kat Williams a couple
of years ago. You just discovered him, well, a couple
of years ago, and his special had been out for
like a decade. Hilariously, God almighty, he was real funny.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
David Spade should have been on the top twenty five. Dude,
his standouh very underrated. Personally my favorite, but I would
say for the most part, obviously we have our favorites.
I would say it's pretty strong.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I've never been a big Bill Burr guy, like Bill
Burr's never really like done it for me. I would
put Norm McDonald above Bill Burr. I'd put Kevin Hart
above Bill Burr. And Nate Burgatzi's kind of got that
draw delivery. It's almost Norm McDonald like.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I think Brian Reagan hilarious.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Steve Martin probably should have been in the top twenty five.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
This is the twenty first century, right, But Robin Williams
is in there at ten. I was gonna say, oh,
that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I think if you're gonna put Robin Williams in there,
there's probably a place for some of those other guys too.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Trevor Noah twenty three. I don't think.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
That's never one show. Never was maybe one stand up
with him not saying he's not funny, just never see it.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Ali Wong's funny.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Nate Bargatzi just added a second show to his Indianapolis
concert coming up. Tickets went so fast He's going to
do a special three pm show in addition to the
seven pm surely yeah, so good for him. Wanted to
get more people able to see his show, so he's like,
you know what, screw it, We're gonna go Vegas Residency here.
We'll do a three o'clock and a seven. I'm alright

(03:55):
with that. It's the Hammer and Nigel Show.
