Speaker 1 (00:03):
Cute listening to the Hammer and Nigel show.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
This is awesome.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
My name is Nigel Jason Hammer right over there with
a very special guest.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
On the hotline.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
It is on like Donkey Kong Baby This Friday is
a new venue in Greenwood, Mad Hatter Shows, an event
center and pop in the cherry of it.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Man.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
The very first performer is John Schneider, actor singer.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
My man, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
That's how I am?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
There we go, Man, I love it, baby bo Duke.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I hope I didn't blow your speakers out.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
No, Man, that's awesome. That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I want to get into the show on Friday because
you're gonna be performing some songs, you're gonna be talking
to the crowd a little bit.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
But one thing that I think is really cool.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
And anybody that follows you know, we're a news talk station.
We're into this kind of stuff. You are somebody that's
not afraid to speak your mind. If we follow you
on social media, we know where you stand politically. Last
election cycle, Man, you talked you caught a lot of
hell from people from being a Trump supporter.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Is that right? Yeah? But those people don't count.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
So I mean, I think it's great because, yeah, I
don't understand that.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I don't understand.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
I mean, if you if you believe in something, you
should you should speak it now. I don't beat people
over the head and say you have to believe the
way I believe. That's what the liberals do. I just say, look,
this is how I feel about this. This is how
I feel about that. You know, if you're with me,
then great. If you're not, then you know that's okay.
Uh So people do know where I stand. So, folks,

(01:45):
if you're coming to the show on Friday, and I
hope you are, it's going to be a lot of fun.
Matt Hatter's a brand new event center. The building has
been there for a while, but this is a this
is a new thing that's going on there. And I
am the one act, the first act. Otherwise as the anything,
I'm the guinea thing.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I'm going to break it in.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
And but if you if you are, if you are
not in line with me, then it's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
You can come, but please be quiet.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Yeah, it's almost like we can be adult about this thing, John,
We can be adults about this.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, we can, Yeah, we can.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
What did you think, John, what did you think when
there were certain streaming networks and things like that that
would take Dukes of Hazard off the air because of
the general lee and what.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It happened everybody, everybody. You know.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
The weird thing about that whole deal is that the
television show is off the air, but you can find
that god awful movie anytime you want.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's weird.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
Well yeah, yeah, when that first came out, somebody gosh
I was doing way back when. I think it might
have been a you know, I can't even call the
major networks anymore because all the all the minor networks
are getting better ratings than them. Yeah, but one of
the major networks said, hey, what did you think about
the Dukes of Hazard movie? And I said, well, you know,

(03:11):
I think it would have to be better to suck right, Yeah,
you know, a strong letter to follow.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
It's just so I swear, Dukes of Hazzard is just
one of those shows that transcends. I mean, it's been
decades and generations, and I grew up being pissed off
at my parents because they would make me go to
bed in the middle of the show when it aired,
because that was.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
My bedtime of the show.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
I know, it was, but it was.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
My bedtime, and I would get so enrage, and so
that's why I would blame you.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
It would have been it would have been kinder of
your parents to say, no, you're going to bed before
it starts.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, or we're letting you stay up an extra half hour.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
But when Coy and Vance came on, he went to
bed early. That's how it worked.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
That was oh, but that's right.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
That's when that's when your mean parents said, okay, you
can watch the whole show.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
And you're like, no, Jodd, how many people try to
impress you by diving through the window of their car,
like if they see you somewhere and they're.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Like, hey, watch this. How many people dive through the window.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
We went, we went to you know, we live in Madison.
We went to lunch up on the hill. That's what
we call it, you know, we who live down on
Main Street talk about up the hill.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
And they there was a woman.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
I don't know how old she was, you know, I
am the age where I think all people sixty are.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Older than me.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
So I thought she was like eighty, and she might
have been fifty seven, I don't know, but she was
a little bitty thing and she said, I mean she
was Nancy Reagan Small and she said she told me
this story about how somebody she saw General Lee and
she said, I'm going through that damn window. And they said,
no you're not. You can't even you can't even see
over the door lock. And she said, no, I'm doing it.

(04:57):
And she told me the story about how she jumped
the window. And I said, how'd you get out? She said,
how do you think the same damn way I got it.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I'm gonna ask you a very basic question, and this
is probably something and this is somebody that watched Dukes
of Hazard as a kid. And still if it's on
somewhere now, I will still leave it on. Why was
why were the doors welded shut?

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Well, we generally was a NASCAR. You know, we had
a NASCAR Okay, yeah, we had our Well.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
We wanted it to be a NASCAR because we always
wanted it. Whenever we talked about we wanted to one
day be on the circuit, we meant we wanted to
be on the NASCAR circuit. So in those days, you
could show up, you could kind of like you could show.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Up to a drag race. You you bring it, you
drive it there and you race it.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
So the generally always had to be ready to be raced.
Should we make you know through qualifying, So it's legitimate
why the doors were welded shut. I love how it
aggravated Uncle Jesse. You know he had to climb in
the winter. He said, one of these days, I'm gonna
I'm gonna cut those doors open.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I loved it.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
It was a time, man, it was a wonderful time.
And Daisy Duke helped a lot of us kids to
get through.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
I'm telling you.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
You know, if you go to uh, if you go
to to red Book to get a pattern for shorts,
one of the kinds of shorts listed are Daisy Dukes.
So it's a it's a totally legitimate kind of shorts.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
It's great.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
They got that wrong on the on that god awful
movie as well.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You know they weren't.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
When I see Daisy never wandered around with the pockets
of her jeans hanging out.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I mean, that just doesn't That just doesn't work for me.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
That was the biggest complaint about Daisy was it is
those only complaint.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
There are no complaints about Daisy. You know, she could
drive almost as well as me. I don't know if
she could shoot a bow and arrow.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
There was.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Uh this Friday Man the Big Show.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Matt had her shows and event center in Greenwood. What's
a what's the Big Show going to be?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Like?

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well, I'm gonna do a bunch you know. It's so
funny to me.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
I've had twenty nine albums and five number one songs.
Every time I sing anywhere, somebody comes up and says, you.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Know, did you just start singing? I didn't know you sang. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
That's like so telling Willie you didn't know he smoked.
So I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do a bunch of
the a bunch of number one songs that were mine,
by the way, you know my number one songs. I'm
gonna do some songs that I grew up listening to,
just a bunch of great music. And if they have

(07:34):
I'm not sure if they're gonna have the audios like.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
The screen behind me.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
If they do, then it'll have some things like a
scene from Tom Wolfpat and I with our screen test.
It'll have a scene with Johnny Cash and I in stagecoach,
might even have me on the mass singer is the
Doughnut you know, there's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
A bunch of it'll be a little a little broader.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
But if not, you know, I'm the kind of guy
that if if the technology doesn't work out, then I'll
just play my guitar, light a candle and we'll have
a good time.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
You know, when I was a little kid watching your show,
I never in a million years, And I know I'm
almost I make you love John, He's going fully on you,
but clown. I just I'm saying I never would have
thought in a million years I'd be talking to Bo
Duke when I was a kid, were the real star

(08:29):
of the show.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Let's yeah, you were the star of the show.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
And I just I can't.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
I'm starstruck right now. Man, I really am.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
John.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Well, I'm honored to be part of your memories. I'm
honored to be anybody who talks about the Dukes, they
invariably say, you know, I I grew up watching that.
It's my favorite time with my grandparents, or you know,
that was a that was a time where you know,
before taxes and before Biden, where life was good, you know,
before you know, when when Clinton was just a governor somewhere.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
And and uh it's great to be part of.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
I've never had anybody come up and say, you know,
I just hated that show.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
It made me a bad person, you know. Good that
doesn't happen.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
And so I'm I'm like, I am so honored to
be part of your life, to be part of your memories,
to be part of all these all these folks. It
just it makes me happy, you know, because I had
my heroes and I got to meet a couple of
them and it was it was good.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
You know. I'm I'm a fan.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
So for someone who grew up being a fan of
Boston Space and John Wayne and Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds. Uh,
to actually have someone that says they're a fan of mine,
what an amazing honor that is.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
We appreciate your time, man, mad hattershows dot com. Get

And turn it down? You're ready? Here we go.
