Speaker 4 (00:54):
In the back of Chris Bean keeping his live and local.
That is Nate Newton. He is Shannon Gross. This is Kurt.
Two pumped dams, because three pumps will get you a flag.
And the Cowboys had a whole bunch of flags yesterday
and no pumping. They didn't do enough pumping they get
them flags. But the flags I am salt pepper poppy.
Together we make Hanging with the Boys the sports talk
(01:15):
equivalent and broil peoples when we speak.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
Brought to you each and every show by wing Stuff.
Flavorite gets its weir before we get going on this
very depressing.
Speaker 7 (01:34):
Monday.
Speaker 6 (01:35):
We did get some wet, nice weather over the weekend.
We got some range, cloudy, dreary.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
Just like the game yesterday.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
Chris is going to start the show off right because
he has you have you have gifts for us?
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Chris?
Speaker 7 (01:51):
Okay, let us he starts showing over here, he is
in here. Whoa, what do we got? What do we
got gifts?
Speaker 6 (01:58):
Wingstop said, you know you guys worrying about the Wingstop jerseys.
Speaker 8 (02:01):
Okay, so everybody got a win? All right, Yeah, we
gotta do it again. We gotta we gotta save where
Flavor gets this.
Speaker 9 (02:21):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
Nice, Thank you, Thank you, Chris looking at thanks Chris,
thank you?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
How about that?
Speaker 9 (02:29):
Yeah, man, let's go.
Speaker 10 (02:32):
One.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
I bet these are like five of a kind US
four and then old what's his day?
Speaker 7 (02:37):
And that was in here the other day. I bet
that's the only only five that exists.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Thank you, wings wing Where Flavor gets this? We you
know what, we can't never lose winning with Wingstop right.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
This team may let us down, but Wingstop never never
never never. You know, when that guy came in and
is like, we don't have a wing Stop Jersey. Yeah,
He's like, I'll get your wingstop Jersey.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
You know what I know you know the question I
have in this for you, brother Shannon. It's everything that
you talk about today is gonna be connected to the Cowboys.
Speaker 9 (03:14):
I mean everything he says, is he walking in here?
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I'm done today.
Speaker 9 (03:19):
I'm done.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
I told Jesse in the back before I got here,
I said, I hope you and they have a lot
to say because I'm just taking this in and out
of break.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
I got nothing to say.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
So fellas fed up.
Speaker 7 (03:29):
I'm not fed up.
Speaker 9 (03:30):
I just it is what it is. And this was
the scene is me? What what? What? What got you?
What made you not what?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
It's like, I get tired of coming on here and
we can't stop the run.
Speaker 7 (03:44):
We can't get any pressure.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
We're gonna let one of the best offensive seasons.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
This train would make the run. Stopping in this would
stop this.
Speaker 7 (03:56):
It's it's hurtful.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
I mean as a as a fan, taking myself off
the podcast as a fan, it hurts my feelings because
we're gonna watch Dak getting towards the end of his career,
and you got three of the most health give me.
I'll say four with Javonte Williams. You got the best
(04:19):
running game you've had since Zeke's probably rookie or sophomore year.
You got the best wide receiver tandem in the league.
You got one of the best tight ends.
Speaker 9 (04:28):
In the league.
Speaker 7 (04:29):
And it don't matter this year.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
All you have to be is just give me, give
me the twenty ninth place on the defensive stats. And
I think you could. I think you could make the playoffs.
But it's like it's and it's just insult to injury
at this point. It's just like the football guy's going,
you know what, it ain't enough that y'all are in disarray.
Let's just wipe out your whole secondary and give you
(04:52):
a bunch of dude.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
You know what, Let's just give you the.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
Last two guys on your roster that can actually play safety.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
I'm surprised one of them didn't get hurt just for
the fun of it. It did some corner playing they did.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
That's exactly what happened.
Speaker 7 (05:05):
I probably was gone for a walk.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
By this lot of her got hurt and they had
to go and put uh the was it ready store?
Speaker 11 (05:11):
He played some, and then the other kid off the
practice squad played.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
Some yeah, I mean it's look, anything can happen in
the NFL. You're still hovering around five hundred.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
But it's just I mean, this was the season for me.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Like you, what do you do when a team is equal,
oh better than you?
Speaker 12 (05:33):
Know?
Speaker 7 (05:33):
This team wasn't perform.
Speaker 9 (05:37):
Put your head offside? Are you just jump off side?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
Whenever you don't look at the guy next thing you go,
wait a minute, he's supposed to be one step back?
Speaker 7 (05:46):
Get back?
Speaker 10 (05:46):
Man?
Speaker 6 (05:47):
Like this here, man, this is and in that environment
where you have to know what you're doing before you
get to the line because it's so loud in the place,
Like you just.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
Wasn't ready for that game? And sure, just hell wasn't
ready for that defense?
Speaker 6 (06:03):
You think y'all tried, y'all try to tell him all
week it's coming.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
What was your guy at number ninety three? The little guy, Yeah,
it's coming.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
You walking around like he the big like he the
biggest six is the tallest.
Speaker 9 (06:17):
Dude on the field.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
He walking around like, come on, ninety three, don't do
me like that. I like you, but don't kill my team.
Speaker 7 (06:24):
What do you think, Kurt? Before before we let the
football guys take it over?
Speaker 11 (06:28):
Kind of the same as you. Like we had talked
about on Friday, this was sort of a make or
break tipping point type game, like you knew which wear direction.
I think this just showed us this isn't a playoff team.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
And the only joy I could have gotten out of
that game was a seventy yard field goal attempt.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Just give me that, Like.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
If I can't just give me that, we couldn't even
give me that, Like I just want to see him
kick it.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
From the from the from the logo, and I couldn't
even get that.
Speaker 11 (06:54):
So it's disappointing for sure.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
All Right, fellas, I'm done, I'll bring us in the
out of breaks, y'all take us to the rest of
the reason.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I don't have really much to say because I ain't
gonna be doing that I told you so and trying
to stick that in your face fans. Uh, you know,
I will say this right here, look at the game objectively.
Understand that you spent the first five weeks trying to
tell everybody that it was evil flus and I tried
(07:25):
to combat some of that, saying it's still come down
to players desire. A lot of times we had some
run fits where guys just didn't do the right thing.
And I'm not gonna call guys out.
Speaker 9 (07:39):
But what we.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Have to start doing as fans is is trying to
understand the game and how it is played, the small
simple things of a run fit, our safety coming up,
keeping outside contained, our defensive n being aware that you
have a to receiver set that's within three yards of
(08:05):
the of the offensive line, that it.
Speaker 9 (08:06):
Could be a crack block.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
And if the corners see that, say walk up to
the defensive end and say, hey, sir, this guy may
crack block you. You know what I'm saying, don't wait
to after it's happening, and the guy's brought up in
the guy's face.
Speaker 11 (08:19):
So I think the problems are mental, they're just not
doing what they're supposed to. Or is it more like
just it's.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
All above, it's all the above.
Speaker 9 (08:30):
Pick one, nice nice green band, Jesse, thank you. If
we get started.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
It, pick one, and I can I can show you
expand on it. I can show you play for play.
I can show you Oh this one was mental. Oh,
this one was physical, this one was comatic. This one
is just bad assignment. Like pick a play and I
can show you where and it's this defense and I'm
not going to say the whole team, but it is
(08:55):
a part of the team. This defense, they're not good enough,
and I'm I'm I'm going to be careful about how
I address certain people because it's no need to make
it personal. It's it's no need to make personal. You're
(09:17):
not talented enough across the board. You're not You're not
talented enough to compete defensively at this level. When when
you watch the good teams, the good offenses, not even
(09:39):
the elite ones, I am. I'm not gonna say I'm
terrified because I don't have to play a down, but
I think I think about when Kansas City comes to town, like, that's.
Speaker 9 (09:54):
My guy.
Speaker 11 (09:55):
Several of those teams up ahead.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
But when you watch an offense move up and down
the field with ease, like it never seems like the
offense the opposing offense, it never feels like it's a strain,
Like you never feel like, oh, it's third and eight,
we're surely getting off the field, like you just kind
(10:22):
of almost just talk yourself through, all right, it's seventy
five yards to a touchdown, Okay, Well we'll see many
plays takes to get there, and there's no resistance. There's
very like even in that game yesterday, when you look,
when you you if you came in from Mars and
you just opened up the stat sheet, it'll say that
(10:43):
the Cowboys created a turnover. They didn't. It is a
bad throat like they didn't and they didn't. The guy
was open. Which was the amazing part was there wasn't
even really any pressure on the quarterback. He just made
(11:06):
an absolute horrible throw because the receiver like he when
I say he missed by six yards, the receiver was
three yards open. He threw it three yards behind.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
Your guy was in a bad and bad position and
still intercepted the ball like.
Speaker 9 (11:18):
He was in.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
You were beat the bat The path was so bad
that you were beat by three yards and still got
like it's so it's and then you go down and
you don't score a touchdown.
Speaker 11 (11:32):
Yeah hurt. Yeah, that just kind of set the tone
for me.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
That to me was the start of it. All the penalties.
You get down to the rue yard line and was
a quarterback sneak was that?
Speaker 9 (11:46):
Was that?
Speaker 4 (11:46):
The drive they ran a quarterback sneak was another drive
they tried a quarterback sneak whatever it was. But you
don't get a touchdown right there, you settle for a
field goal, and then they just happily got the ball
back and just said, Okay, we won't throw a bad
pass this time. Don't just march down the field. It
is over and over and over and over and over again.
(12:07):
Teams should not have that much ease and comfortability when
going bick up against your defense.
Speaker 6 (12:14):
One thing that jumped out to me was the conversation
we had this week about bad tackling and not necessarily
meaning you make contact and you don't wrap up, but
being in bad position. There were so many plays where
they would overrun a gap or they would have a
guy in the backfield and just take one step too far,
(12:34):
and then just that I was really focused on that
because y'all mentioned that this week, and I was like, huh.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I mean, bad tackling is for those who watch film.
Go back and watch the RJ. Harvey forty yard untouched touchdown.
Go back and watch it. There is at least five
to six medic errors.
Speaker 7 (13:00):
Was that the one we were watching in the back? Yep?
Speaker 11 (13:03):
Comedic errors?
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah, comedic You know Sam Williams. A week or so ago,
when when Bob Stern put up the graphic of the
play against the Kalaua Panthers, and Sam was at the
bottom of the screen being blocked by Xavier Lagett. And
Sam reposted and he put the smiley laughing face on there. Okay,
(13:30):
you can laugh at that. Turn to film on the
same thing just happened to you again. Now they'll see
him running after the running back. But he got he
got blocked again by a wide receiver. This is supposed
to be your physical, aggressive, two hundred and sixty five
pounds seventy pound defensive end. And you got blocked again
(13:53):
by a wide receiver. Gave up the edge by a
wide No, not by DK Metcalf, not not, not, not
by Megatron, Not by some dude who's a haulking six
foot four, two hundred and twenty five pounds. Not that guy. No,
just some six foot one and eighty five pound pound
(14:15):
dude just washes you down and then you just watch
kyer Elam doesn't want to participate, doesn't want to participate.
He's just standing there that the guy goes by, he
just sticks his arm out like like it was a
it was like it was a New York City.
Speaker 9 (14:31):
Uh, waving out a taxi.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Yeah, Kennith Murray, middle linebacker. He's standing there. He starts
at five yards, steps to four yards, get blocks fifteen
yards down the field. Huh, your young rookie Shamar He's
still he's still picking my hot turf out of his butt.
They just dumped him on his head. And then there's
(14:55):
one more guy that was in that was in the
mix of that that wanted to want to know parts
of this and it is off to the races for
it's just it's it's done with so much ease, and
we get and people want to know, well, what should
we do? How should we do with fire eba flues?
If you fire Eba Flues, that's fine, Cool, that's fine,
(15:17):
fire them, fire some other players with them too, Like
it's a collection. You're just not you're not talented enough.
You're not talented enough. And this this, this didn't just
start Sunday, This started in the offseason. This was this
was another cast of characters that people upstairs decided that
(15:41):
we'll come to this football team that are not good
football players and you can't win with those guys, Like
you can't win, you can't win with those guys. If
and I know, you gotta go to break and it's
not just the current class of guys. If you go
(16:02):
back to the last couple of drafts and shout out
to my god, Jeff Cavanaugh, if you go back to
the last couple of drafts after Micah Parsons, there's only
one player that you can actually say from that from
those drafts, I think it's sixteen defensive players that they
brought in. Only one player that's worthy to being talked about.
(16:23):
It's Den Blair.
Speaker 9 (16:24):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
That's it. Go look, go look the draft after Micah.
If you want to add him to that mix, then
there's two guys he ain't hear no more. Those guys
like Marshawn Kneeland is supposed to be a player that's
in the mix of this thing. Sam William supposed to
be a player that's in the mix of this thing. Mazi,
(16:53):
you you just start naming all the defensive players like
you're supposed to be a key contributor to us having success.
Right now, He's got all of them a liabilities. All
of them are liabilities, and and and and and you know,
ohso looking funny in that not that Michael light, when
(17:14):
that Michael light ain't on you olso looking funny in
the dark. I mean, you're look at funny in the light.
It's different when Mike's running around and you got a
lot of single blocks and they got three guys over there.
I'm just saying it's it's this team is not This
team defensively is just simply not talented enough.
Speaker 6 (17:31):
All right, let's take our first break when we come back.

Speaker 9 (20:08):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
All right, back to the show. It's a very somber show.
Just if you're just now tuning in.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
It's a little reality check of where we are in
the season and what's to come the next six weeks
or so. Yeah, So, Nate, what did you what was
the biggest surprise to you? I mean, you knew this
was coming from the defensive side of the ball from Denver, right,
(20:35):
the pressure Dak constantly running for his life. Did you
see this kind of effort coming from the Cowboys defense?
Speaker 9 (20:44):
Is it injury related to you?
Speaker 7 (20:45):
Is it coaching? Is it what Jesse said? Just mass chaos?
Speaker 9 (20:49):
You know, the people that I talked to.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
About the defensive coordinator just had besides the head coaching job,
just had great things to say about him. And then
you know, I'm looking, I'm like, okay, coach, all right, Okay,
we don't have zone corners. Okay, so let's go man.
And we went man.
Speaker 9 (21:14):
And last week, you know, we thought we had it fixed.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Okay, this week right here, when you say we not,
this show just most shows thought they had it.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Yeah, yeah, I'm not say.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
After I checked when you speaking, yeah, I was like,
last I checked you you were from Florida, and I
was like, I know you ain't been the friends. I
know you ain't friends. We you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 9 (21:44):
We show you know, when you have.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Everybody in your secondary is a backup player. I mean
truly a backup player. It had to take two and
three guys for you to get on field. Uh, this
is what you expect. And and I watched film, y'all.
I watched Film this week like I ain't never watched
in a long time. And the more I watched it,
(22:14):
I said, we're in trouble, y'all. We're in trouble. And
and I just went through the schedule, y'all. I know
y'all gonna get excited if they beat the Cardinals. I
know y'all gonna get excited if they beat Raiders. But
what's coming after that? Just do it today. Go to
(22:37):
hating on the coaches today. Start hating on the players today,
because it's coming.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
It's coming now.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
And you know, if you if you bounce over, because
the thing that's been keeping this thing afloat all year
long has been the offense.
Speaker 11 (22:54):
That's right, And I'm saying this was coming.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
It's inevitable. And I was like, how do I say
this without people being like, there go Jesse being a
hater again. But even the group of the greats, this
was inevitable. You were going to run out of historic
and and just heroic type performances. That's just human, that's
(23:20):
quarterback human nature. In the National Football League, you're gonna
run into a situation where, boy, and then you listen
to what Dak was saying in the postgame show, and
he said it, it came out of his mouth. I
was pressing because now he's starting to watch the game,
(23:41):
weekend and week out, down in and down out, series
in and series out. And he's going, if I don't
go get a touchdown here, they're not stopping anybody. He's
watching that.
Speaker 9 (23:52):
Your head coach is watching that, right, So now you.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Got a field gold in your back pocket. And he goes,
but I gotta go get trying to get a score.
Speaker 9 (24:03):
There was an interception.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Right throken, an interception, another miscommunication on someone running the route.
He thought CD should have stopped. He thought he should
have stopped on the other side of the god interception
because your quarterback is saying, I have to be heroic
because the other side of the ball is giving us nothing.
I think at one point in time it was a
(24:27):
series was for the Broncos. Interception, touchdown, touchdown, punt, touchdown, touchdown,
field gold, touchdown, or something like that. It was something
like it was like interception, touchdown, touchdown, punt, touchdown, touchdown,
field gold.
Speaker 7 (24:45):
I think there was half touchdown halftime in there somewhere.
Speaker 11 (24:47):
Halftime, Yeah, field gold, touchdown, touchdown.
Speaker 9 (24:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Like so imagine they didn't imagine you're you're standing on
the sideline and it's field goal, touch down, touchdown. I
mean interception, touchdown, touchdown, feel like you're like, I gotta
go get do something.
Speaker 9 (25:07):
I have to.
Speaker 11 (25:08):
One of those punchs was another bad pass. That guy
was open, so.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Yes, they weren't stopping him. And I've also been telling
you guys, you know, because people want to battle me online.
Is like, all this offensive line is playing great.
Speaker 9 (25:26):
I'm like, I don't know what.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
Chall watch it. There's a reason why. And this is
again I'm not attacking brock Hoffman. Then the reason why.
Brock Hoffman's a backup, and sometimes backups work for for
two games or so, but when you got to go
face the real deal, and poor poor tink Tank, poor
(25:53):
big tink Tank, poor can't get right. It's just we
gotta be we gotta move on. And I know it's early.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
Who are you talking about.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
We can't, we can't.
Speaker 9 (26:04):
We can't keep this up. We can't, we can't.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
I know it's a first round pick. We can't. You cannot,
You cannot keep convincing yourself that it's gonna turn on.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
So Nate, what do you do there? What would you do?
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Because we know you're if as a coach, you've seen enough,
then you get Nate tellomas A chance, and if he
doesn't perform up to whatever your expectations is, then you
back in the draft or you spend the money to
(26:44):
get one of these guys that's gonna be a free agent.
Speaker 9 (26:47):
And I don't see him doing that, but you like,
I don't see him doing that.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
And he's probably a sweet kid. He probably really is.
You can't between the penalties between the.
Speaker 11 (27:02):
Just the just.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
The saving grace for him right now that the defense
is so bad that people just don't have enough hate
energy left to go over in and be like, oh,
you're really bad too. It's so bad on the defensive
side that everyone's talking about the defensive side and there's
nothing left when you come back over there and you go,
(27:26):
he's a bad football player. And you can say that
he improved because last year it was so far in
the basement, but we ain't reached the first floor yet.
Speaker 7 (27:36):
Would you would you just make him a backup? Would
you try to integrate him into the right Coach Schottenheimer?
Speaker 4 (27:43):
And maybe that's something you try to do. But if
coach Schottenheimer is true to what he says about every week,
it is competition. You gotta give Nate a to You
gotta you gotta you gotta go, Nate. You sure turned.
Let's see what you have and maybe the offensive success
(28:03):
because Dak has been Houdini in that pocket. David Blaine
esked just about to say a musician, not a musician,
a magician the way that he's been able to. But
eventually you run into something that's far greater than what
your abilities can overcome. And he ran to that on Sunday.
(28:27):
He just couldn't overcome the level of greatness that they
had on their side, and they lost the best They
lost the Rain defensive player.
Speaker 9 (28:36):
Of the year.
Speaker 11 (28:37):
It seems to take advantage of that early.
Speaker 9 (28:38):
In this game.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
The defensive player of the year, Rain defensive player of
the year went out, and you still couldn't dominate that
side of the ball. You know why he had a time.
Speaker 6 (28:55):
They had enough time, all right, speaking in time, It's
time to take that last break when we come back
more depression and what is me when we come back?

You know what I heard, It was kind of funny
to me. You know how everybody was debating about should
we give up a couple for the first round picks? Uh,
you know, to try to save this season for Dak
in the offense. And after this game radled everybody like, man,
just give give up the pigs.
Speaker 9 (32:14):
Boy, boy, it's death. Come five right here, buddy, they
give up the pigs. Don't worry about that. Just get
somebody here to help us.
Speaker 7 (32:26):
That's I guess that's the.
Speaker 9 (32:27):
Big question is next Tuesdays?
Speaker 6 (32:31):
Well, I mean, yesterday shows you you're not one or
two guys away. You're you're you're a whole squad away.
Basically you're a whole defensive redo, right.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
Plus a coach. So you get a coach on trade deadline,
you trade for coordinator, trade that line.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
Like, I mean, there's nothing to grab onto right now,
is there? Like the way the defense looked yesterday. If
you've got a that's got a halfway decent offensive line,
in an average or above average run game.
Speaker 7 (33:08):
You're cooked.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Yeah, I mean there's no there's no end inside, and
you're decimated with injuries right now. I mean overshow is
not gonna come back and save this season. I mean,
good luck keeping the defensive lineman off of you. If
you're a linebacker where you can even see what's.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Going I'm gonna be honest with you. Can I can
I even can I even put? I don't know if
this is a hot take or not. Right now, you
have decided that you opened up the window for Overshown,
and most believe that after the Vegas game is when
(33:50):
he will return.
Speaker 11 (33:51):
I think he was targeting the Vegas game.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Yeah, if you lose one of the next two games,
I wouldn't bring.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
Him back, Just shelf him, save it, make sure he's.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
One hundred percent healthy. I wouldn't bring him back. I
would say, son, just wait, work.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
Out, get stronger, make sure it's in good shape, and
see you next year.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Let's not let's not run into the possibility of you
hurting yourself again. Not saying that it had to be
a knee, cause you know, Overshoon's gonna come back and
he's gonna have a level of energy that's gonna be sky.
He's gonna be running around here one hundred miles an hour.
If you lose one of the next two games, that
(34:42):
puts you at three six and one. What are you
at now, three four and one? Yes for three five
and one, three four and one. Today's three four to one.
So if you lose one of the next two games,
so you'll be four five and one, right, three five
and one.
Speaker 9 (35:00):
No, because you have to win one of the next Yeah, gotcha, Because.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
I doubt you be Philadelphia. I doubt you beat Kansas City.
You might not beat the Chargers. Just get healthy, son.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Remember we was doing that thing that when we was
picking in the lose and you had them stars by
certain game.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
I know exactly what you mean.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Yeah, them dudes had running running they had running backs,
and they liked to run the ball.
Speaker 9 (35:31):
So I.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
I'm not gonna fool myself and I understand that y'all
gonna keep believing that we just need a pass Russia.
But people, for over twenty years, every time we've lost
the playoff game, every time we've lost the game of significance,
go back and check the Russian stats.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
JK. Dobbins have had one hundred yard game all year?
Speaker 12 (35:56):
Do it?
Speaker 4 (35:58):
You didn't have one hundred our game all year? Got
on Sunday. R. J. Harvey not only got his first
touchdown of the year, he got three. This is what
we produce, all.
Speaker 6 (36:09):
Right, So question for y'all because you're right, you're correct.
It's been and we're all too familiar with it. It
just started really it started really being obvious when we
played the Rams in the coliseum, that's.
Speaker 9 (36:23):
Right, and when an overweight running back they got off
the street, and.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
Then it became like, oh, here we go, this is
who we are.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Is it that I take that back? He had one
on one against the Bengals. I mean you have yesterday
one eleven was the African carries seven point four yards
of carry.
Speaker 9 (36:47):
That's a pass.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
If you if you were eight yards per catch is
considered a good day for NFL passer.
Speaker 9 (36:57):
They almost averaged to pass on us a handoff handf
Is it.
Speaker 11 (37:03):
They're averaging four point nine for the year opponent rushing.
Speaker 9 (37:09):
Just so you do.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
Is it that hard to find the personnel to have
a good middle of your defense? Or is it that
this organization puts more value on the outside than it
does the inside, and that's why you have the problems.
Speaker 9 (37:27):
That's what they value.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
They value the corners of the defense more so than
in the middle of the defense. They don't value safeties,
they don't value one in three techniques. They value Russians
and cornerbacks. And it shows.
Speaker 10 (37:45):
Man.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
But now I'm gonna say this right here in all fairness,
if we can use that word, they come like every
three years. That dominant three or one technique comes like
once every three years, and you got to be ready
to go up the ladder to get them. If you're not,
you're just gonna watch something. You just hope somebody in
your division don't get them.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
But even yes, the dominant ones. But I'll take two
good ones that.
Speaker 9 (38:17):
That that's some concentrate on.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
I'll take two good ones that's gonna say, you eat
these blocks up. My job is I don't need the accolades.
Speaker 9 (38:25):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Yeah, I just need to eat up blocks and keep
these cats from getting to my line.
Speaker 7 (38:33):
Not worried about sacks. I'm not worried about being on
the stat sheet.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Just we don't have that. We don't we don't have that.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
No, it's not hard to find, just by every team
that's gotta winning record has to it.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Up. Just say, you know what, my job is to
keep those other guys behind me clean. And so that's
what I'm gonna do. If I fall into a sack grape.
You know, if I don't, great, But what I'm not
gonna do is be out of my gaps, laid off
the ball, getting blown off the ball, because getting blown
off the ball is just the same is if you
(39:11):
being out of your gap.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
You know what one of the biggest sins is to
me as a sinner on my right handed said, I'm
snapping the ball.
Speaker 9 (39:22):
And I have a guy right here that I have
to turn.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
It's outside play, and I'm so confident that I tell
a guard quick, quick, quick, and I.
Speaker 9 (39:31):
Reached this guy.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
I not only reached this guy, but I get in
front of him and turn back. And a guy went
like forty yards to the end zone that was number
fifty eight, a full man over and got reached.
Speaker 9 (39:47):
I said, this is not real.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
And all he had to do is go straight up
the field, straight up the field, and this dude could
not have reached him. He not only reached him, but
he and turned back. That is almost impossible. You made
a non athletic guy. Come on, man, that was sad.
Speaker 9 (40:11):
Bro That was sad.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
That's the world we're living today, is there.
Speaker 11 (40:20):
We may not have time, but I want to.
Speaker 7 (40:22):
Know we got plenty of time. Go ahead, we got
four minutes.
Speaker 11 (40:26):
I just it probably wouldn't make a difference. But how
did they completely shut out Ferguson? What did they do
to keep it?
Speaker 9 (40:33):
They brought a guy down on the line.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
They they they said what everybody's been picking at me
for saying this. He has kept Dak safe and active
by that little denking at zero they call it zero
whatever when you go your trying line scrims and go down.
Speaker 9 (40:51):
He been checking that, helping the right tackle and going
down the line.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Everybody been laughing at them five yard thing because I've
been getting blown away.
Speaker 9 (40:58):
But they walked up.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
I don't know whether it was a corner or a linebacker,
but day Waterson not today.
Speaker 9 (41:05):
And that gave Benito and.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
I showed I showed Chris in the back a play
where I said, to do you guys where the number
four down the linebacker where they went to go play
action and run the boot and play talking about you know,
the furry would block down and then spin out and
be right there for a little dump off that it
can go five, eight, ten yards. A linebacker said right there,
(41:30):
he waited for the play action again, assigned line in football,
what's my responsibility to help out coockertainment and anything that
comes outside. I ain't going to chase that, you know
why that is my responsibility. My responsibility is that when
he spins out of that that I'm standing right here.
And so they do it, and Dak spins out of it,
and the linebackers looking at that, looking the tight end
and he literally goes he's telling him, come on. He
(41:54):
had his hand like, yeah, he had his hand like like,
come on, I know, I know what it is. You're gonnayup,
you're gonna do and you're gonna spin out. And he's
literally like, come on, runs out extended right there. Thatk
has to just is no where to throw the ball.
That has to tuck it.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
And twice, well one time for a two yard game.
I think maybe the next was a little longer. Twice
I've seen he's it. I said to myself, Wow, and
Dak get up shait you know, try to you know,
look in things. But my body language is hard to
kind of hard to fake.
Speaker 11 (42:28):
Bro just a secret out every team's gonna do this
now or just DENVERSI no.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
It's but that's what good football teams do. Good football
teams looked at formations, look at tendencies. Okay, it's this
down and distance.
Speaker 9 (42:39):
What do they like to do? All right?
Speaker 4 (42:42):
Because every as much as coaches don't like to believe
that they have certain patterns of how they do certain things,
you do. You get into a rhythm, and especially if
it's working for you, you don't go away from things
that are working for you. So you put that in
the You put that in the in the game playing package.
Every single week, draw it up, draw it up, draw
it up. And but the good ones, the good players,
(43:03):
the good defenses, the good defensive coordinators. If you're doing
what you're supposed what is your job? Is your job
to tight end. They don't go chasing that ball that
way until it's fully committed that the ball is going
that way. And that's that was that play right there.
(43:25):
If I'm if I'm advanced Joseph, I'm giving you a
like I'm giving advance Joseph a star as an outsider
looking in because I'm saying that's taught. That is a
defensive coordinator saying, hey, y'all when they and that's just
telling that he's just knowing his stuff. When they get here,
they like to do one of four plays, and our
(43:49):
focus is eliminating their checkdown, eliminating their their go to
right now. Because if if the thing that they've been
doing really well is the show game quick passes, So
if we take that away Jay Cooper, Benido and the
rest of the crew, we get there. So take away
his first option. That's the one thing Dak has been
(44:11):
doing really well this year. Oh my first option right there,
I get rid of the ball two seconds, two point
five seconds. They said he won't have that, And now
I put the pressure back on Nick Bonito. Well, coach said,
will take away his first read. You should have enough
time to get there. So coach gonna say, they did
their job. My excellent pass rusher, you had three seconds
(44:35):
to get there. Where were you, my pass rush? Where
were y'all? Now it ain't on me. I did what
you told me to do. And now I put it
back on the on the on the on, the on
the plus players to do what the plus players do.
I can't be an average player. And not doing my job,
because if I ain't doing my job, then the then
(44:55):
the then the elite players can't do theirs because if
I go and I bite down on that and now
I'm on the backside of that tight end, he dumps
off for a completion. Guess what, Nick Benita couldn't get there,
And now DK doesn't feel that pressure. All game long,
they was tagging Dak in the pocket and that residual
effect wears on you throughout the course of the game.
(45:17):
Now you start seeing ghosts in the sense of I'm rushing,
I'm harry, I'm throwing the ball place where it's put
to go because I got to hit five times.
Speaker 9 (45:26):
It hurt.
Speaker 4 (45:28):
He had the one play, great pass to see thee lamb.
He was running the over out. He got rocked and
now he stood there and looked down the gun barrel
and delivered the strike. But that hit, you don't forget
about that. That don't go away?
Speaker 7 (45:46):
All right, We don't either, But we gotta go away
for today. But we'll be back tomorrow. Thank you Wing
Stop for the jerseys good stuff. Tomorrow you know what,
