There was big news with Micah Parsons taking part in the minicamp. Was it all part of the contract negotiations? Or does he want to step right in as the team’s leader? Trevon Diggs also was on hand, but is he making a mistake by not rehabbing with the team’s trainers? Plus, do the Cowboys still need to add players, especially on defense? Brought to you each and every show by a Wingstop
where flavor gets its We by the way we have.
We will have some breaking news on behalf of Wingstop
coming soon. I don't think I can say anything yet.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Breaking news. Wingstop change their fries. They changed their fries.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I was not aware of this. When did this happen?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Maybe a month ago?

Speaker 5 (01:38):
Really?

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Yeah, yeah, I guess that's been I'm excited about the change.
You prove, you approved proof same season. They didn't lose
a seasoning. They just changed a fry style text. Sure, yeah,
like it's more it's soky.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
It's yeah, it's more like a French fry.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
You know their their fries are very polarizing. You either
love love love love their fries or you did not
like their fries.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
This one is more you prove, I prove.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
But I will say this. They had the same fries
that you could reheat. You know, you could reheat them.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
You weren't reheating them, you were you were finished cooking them.
That's what you were doing. You were finishing the cook.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
That's a sponsor.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I I like them. Yeah, their new fries are amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
You like, you like crunching some some crunch to your fries.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
A little bit little snap, okay, I snapped me.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I don't mind the I don't mind the all natural fry.
That's a little flimsy. And see I like those.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
I'm good.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
It's hard for me. Yeah, yes, wow, Kurt One, that
was a good one.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
That's a good.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
Go.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Try the fry, I have to try them.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Almost what you.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Gets?

Speaker 5 (03:00):
We go? Yeah, the hot honey robe though, which won'ts.
We don't do bonus.

Speaker 8 (03:13):
That's chicken nuggets.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Since we I just was informed. I can't believe I
just figured this out. We won't be together till training
camp and then probably after camp, because I doubt we
all go to camp, and if we do, it probably
won't be at the same time. So it's gonna be
two months before we do another show together again in person.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Miss a little bit man.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
So I guess we should. Since it's been about two
months since we actually talked about football, we should. We
should start to break with some football. So what happened
this week? Fill me in you guys. You guys are
in the know. What happened on the other side of
that wall. Anything of note?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Mini camp, Mini camp?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Okay, anything happened at minicamp.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Jerry and Micah talked. Okay, they get not about not
about contracts.

Speaker 8 (04:00):
He got out there and leave a few drills.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
That that okay, let's talk about that. Jesse. You're you
said last week you don't blame him, nor would you
go out there and do drills. You'd be here right
for the guys. You'd be Would you be in the
building at all? I would just not participate.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
I would be what would you do, Marshall Lench? I'm
just here so I don't get fine, Okay, that's what
I would.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
But you wouldn't go out and run a few drills
or participator? Would you nate? Knowing all the money that's
on the line.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Would you be in the building, Yeah, i'd be.

Speaker 6 (04:31):
I'm brown talking and having fun laughing. All right, fellas
see how the practice swim? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
So do you like that he was here and that
he participated a little bit? Or is that a little risky?
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I think Micah, to his credit, has taken a page
had taken a page or pages from the Jones playbook.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Okay, explain.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
A lot of time, a person who has the bigger
platform and the biggest voice gets to control the narrative.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And when you go away and.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
You don't say anything, and you don't talk and no
one's there to ask you any questions, whoever gets a
chance to talk about the narrative controls it. Which a
lot of times when you talk about the narrative, when
Jerry speaks, when somebody from that family speaks, that's the
loudest voice. They control the narrative. And when you go
away from everybody and you're not talking because you're holding out,

(05:31):
then you look like the bad guy. And for Micah,
he's kind of flipped it back on to the Jones
and saying, I'm tweeting the right things, I'm saying the
right things, I'm gonna be present, I'm gonna be out here.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I'm here, I'm talking here and.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Talking like I'm doing all of these positive things so
that the fans can't look at me and say, oh,
I'm selfish. Oh I only care about the money. Oh
I'm not being the leader like I said I would.
So he's taking a page from the Joneses, flipped it
back on them, and it's kind of kept a positive
narrative in the in the eyes of the court of

(06:07):
public opinion. By the way that he's approaching his whole
end ish. Then the whole in ish hold innish because
he's not doing everything, but he's doing some things, but
he's not fully all in.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
So the so and you can feel it. I feel
like there's a fan sentiment that is starting to rally
behind Micah because you know what, for all the great
he does on the field and in this room, we
we we get after him a little bit for some
of the stuff he does off the field that he talks. Right,
he's starting to do the right thing right on the

(06:41):
flip side of the coin, controlling the narrative not being
here his partner in crime, that are you know, Trayvon's
not here, right, he's here, but he wasn't He wasn't here,
wasn't here. So I feel like the court of public
opinion is rallying behind Micah. And then it's kind of like, well,

(07:03):
he's doing the right things. Where's everybody else? Where are
the other leaders on the team. So it's kind of
a you know, I feel like he's starting to do
Is somebody in his ear or is he starting to
figure this stuff out? What do you guys think, Trayvon
no no, no, Miah Michah.

Speaker 8 (07:20):
I think he's he's been talking about he wants to
be a leader, and he's kind of right and hold
back because you know, DeMarcus is here and some of
the other guys. This is his time now. If he
wants to being a leader, He's got a step and
be a leader. And I think he's kind of recognizing that.
I'm glad he's here. And I know, from a contract standpoint,
it's probably not the smartest thing to do, but I
mean he's not you know, they're not hitting or anything out.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Well, here's the thing about the contract, right, because it's
a little bit different with guys who are still on
their rookie deals. Yes, the fines can accrue, you know,
but players who are still on their rookie deals. How
it used to be in the past is they accumulate
all these fines, but then when they find only sign

(08:01):
it goes away. A team can wipe it out. So
players who are still on rookie deals still fall under
that law. So even if Michael was to accumulate fines,
whenever he got to the point of signing, it cancels out.
Unlike when Zach Martin was being fined, they had had
to write that number into the contract to kind of make.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Up for it.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
If you're if you're not on your rookie deal, they
can find you, find you, but they cannot wipe it away.
They cannot rescind the fines. Only those who are still
under their rookie contract, can their fines be rescinded by
the team?

Speaker 8 (08:39):
Okay, sounds like he's being very proactive and.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, no he is. He's playing the court of public
opinion game to a t. He's doing a great job
with it.

Speaker 8 (08:49):
Yeah, But I think it's more than just a public opinion.
I think he's within that team. He's trying to.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Oh you're saying like he's really trying to Oh, Okay,
all right.

Speaker 8 (08:58):
I think he's trying to take on that role and
he here because he knows if he's not here, like
you said, he loses the voice.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (09:05):
So I think there's more to it than maybe. I
hope there's more.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
That's I mean, i'll see where you're coming from.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
I will say, it feels like now he's starting to
do instead of just say as to where before this
instance it was there wasn't really anything for him to
do after the season to prove it. Now that there's
actually actionable items, this was a big deal. I think

(09:33):
to move to step towards being whatever it is he's
trying to.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
Be right because last year and he needed to be
in uh at these volunteery things with a new defense coordinator,
he didn't show and you know this year he is
showing a whole lot more and been a little bit
more active, like Jess said, and his partner in crime,
the Three Pumps said, you know, hey, he's doing anything man.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
So he it's just it's just good to see.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Uh, I tell you right here, Coach Shottenheimer, he is
doing a magnificent job of what these guys are and
what he's acting them to do. Everybody seemed to be
doing their part, playing their part, you know, and so

(10:24):
uh it just it gets you even more excited about
going to camp. And I'm excited that Jess is gonna
be out there. I'm hoping you two guys will show up.
And so because last year, if you need to, my brother,
I felt like the long rangeer trying to get some
of this stuff across, you know what I'm saying. And

(10:45):
then when the season started, everybody said, well what about
this guy?

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Well I tried to you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I want I want somebody else to see if this
guy's doing well, if this guy not.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Doing well, I want you know, because.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
But you know, we did a little legend thing and he,
you know, Coach Shoheimer did a great job of explaining
what he wanted in practice, how he wanted guys to practice.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
What they were doing.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
I mean, he understands that, he understands, he understands.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
What all of this is about.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
All you trying to do when you're doing all of
these camps, it's one goal. It's only one goal, besides
the bonding that you possibly can have. Know your plays,
That's that's all that's about. Get out there, learn how
to run your plays and run them as fast as
you can with all the knowledge you can. That's the
only thing you're trying to cover. Everybody talking about the

(11:38):
dude then bulked up and this dude looked like this,
and this dude doing this, and bruh, we'll find out
when the rams show up. Okay, when the rams show
up in practice, then we'll be talking about it all right.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Before we go to break. Let me let me back up,
Trayvon here, Yes, yes, what's the deal with the possible
finds and all that?

Speaker 5 (12:00):
As I already done, Bro, he ain't no, he.

Speaker 8 (12:04):
Had to make he had to be here for to
work with the team trainers.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
For like, that's what I was refering four.

Speaker 8 (12:10):
Points something percent of the time. And he's not going
to hit that, but they can de escalate. There's a
clause in his contract. A lot, I guess a lot
of these big players to play, there's a de escalation
clause where if they aren't in the offseason program eighty
five percent of the time, the team can drop their
salary half a million dollars for the season, which is
a lot of money to give up just to work

(12:30):
out in money, mayam.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
So, and talk this with with the way training is
and everybody now these days has their own guys, and
you know when it comes to things like that, what
goes through a player's mind when they're rehabbing and they
don't come they don't want to come back to the facility.
They'd rather use their own people or their own training

(12:52):
thing rather than using it. Is that becoming more and
more common? Was that a thing back when y'all play?

Speaker 5 (12:56):
It's not smart.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
It's not smart because you if you were to use
and maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong, did they use his
own personal doctors for this surgery? Because he used his
own personal doctors and they let the cowboys know what
what they were doing step by step. That's one thing,

(13:20):
but doctor Cooper, but if you use the Dallas Cowboys doctors.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
They are.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
They work hand in hand with the Dallas Cowboys trainers.
So you need to be here to be on page
with the Dallas football team.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
You don't small correction in that, Yeah, I don't yeah,
correct me.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
That little thing is because I don't want people to
confuse doctor Cooper is not the Dallas No, No, he's
not right. I just want to make sure that he's
an independent doctor. Works with the Cowboys, Yes.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
But he also works with other players from other NFL
teams as.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
Well as he's one of the top rated.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
I want to put that he's not the Cowboys doctor.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
But he has a great relationship with the Dallas Cowboys trainers.
The bottom line is this right here, when they signed
the check, I don't think whoever he's working with in
Miami signs a check for him. You understand this right here.

(14:23):
At the end of the day, if something go wrong,
you're not gonna blame the people in Miami. You're gonna
blame the people that's connected with the Dallas Cowboys. So
they should have the first and foremost ability to bring
you through this through this rehab.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
I this this this new world order gonna get a
lot of kids in trouble.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
So part of what I've gathered from the whole situation
was Trayvon is in Miami working with the rehab specialists
who has brother right work with and got him back
on the field from a very similar injury in six months.

(15:07):
Now here's it. It's just a couple of things. They
are brothers. One has a different different work ethic than
the other. If you followed Stefan in his he's a
worker like he is. He is the he's the uh type,

(15:29):
a worker like he's going. You don't have to beg
him to come in and work. I'm not saying that
you have to do that with Trayvon, but history has
said that Trayvon is not one who takes an attack
his rehab with the level of verocity that's necessary to
get back in six months. Secondly, different body styles. Just
because Stefan got back in six don't don't mean Trayvon

(15:51):
gonna get back in six. So those are some of
the things that was said that why he went to
and again it's it's it is Miami, it is it
is it is South Beach. That's that's always.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
A push to your point.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
I see what you're saying and and and maybe if
you in your head as a player, maybe say I'm
I'm gonna show everybody, maybe you got that chip that's
gonna drive you be that type a guy.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
But still, when it's.

Speaker 6 (16:26):
Said and done, the people you're gonna have to answer
to is upstairs, correct, and so everybody can everybody can
talk all that you can talk all that garbage. And
I'm talking to all that ignorant media types out there
that's trying to bend it the other way.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
I'm talking to all y'all because at the end of the.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Day, you media types, you have to answer to your
boss that signs your check.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
And this is it's the same. I don't care how
you do it.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
At the end of the day, you see whatever missus Jones,
however he scribbled his name, that's the check you see.
That's the man, a woman or family you have the
answer to. So I'm just hoping that the young man
understands that.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
And you still have to come back here anyway and
get cleared by the cowboys doctors like you still have
that still has to they still have to say you
can go over there, Andy, Oh yeah, he's We've worked
for this long time.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
He was ready to go. It still has to go
through brit.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
And then Jim yes, and they had to sign off
one and go okay, now he's ready to go from
from our from our standpoint.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
And looky, I'm not ever going to tell anybody like
that's your body, that's your property, like how you should
treat your body and how you should rehabit do all that.
But to me, it would just make more sense if
I was my surgeon was here and the people that
work with that surgeon and have for years and years

(17:56):
and know what that type of injury is, and all
of them are here in the building all the time.
It would help me know what do I need to do?
How I am I own track? Am I doing this?
And I don't. I'm not having to fly back and
forth or send photos or X rays like I just
walked down the hall. Hey I got a little twins here?
What do you think that is? What can I do?
You know? Am I progressing the right way? Am I

(18:18):
gonna coords long enough? Am I doing this?

Speaker 7 (18:19):
Like?

Speaker 2 (18:20):
To me, it would just makes And if I was
really really serious about my rehab and my training in general,
I would say trainer, rehabitsts meet me in West Monroe, Louisiana,
where there is nothing to do, no distractions, no beach,

(18:40):
and we're gonna work. That's all we're gonna do. Eight
hours a day. We're gonna work. We're gonna rehab. And
then every once in a while, I'll fly to Miami
and have my fun for the weekend. But then I'm
gonna come back and I'm gonna work because there ain't
no way in hell like I could go to Miami
or San Diego or Mexico and legitimately rehab, like I

(19:02):
would be going out to dinner every night. Even if
I wasn't a partier, I would find like, I want
to go somewhere ugly, somewhere nasty that like gets on you, like,
you know you gotta you want.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
To Rocky one? Yeah you want to Rocky one with him?

Speaker 9 (19:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
You want to meet Package?

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
You know, I gotta walk outside, I gotta work to breathe.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
That way you want to go to Russia?

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Yes, that way. When I get back to Dallas, it's like, ah,
it's like I feel lighter.

Speaker 6 (19:30):
And if he come back day one hundred, rocking and rolling,
who's gonna be upset?

Speaker 5 (19:42):
No one? Right, No, one.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
I mean, this is one time you hoping in your mind, Okay,
he gonna show the world.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
You know, he stayed away and he gonna show the world.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
So the documentary says, going to the documentary said, yeah,
I'm showing you the first rehab that I did that
they said that I didn't do well, And now I'm
going to.

Speaker 8 (20:01):
Say the second.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah you like that, We're gonna see.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
And and he's come out and said that he wants
and hopes to preparing to be ready for a week
one of.

Speaker 8 (20:11):
The season.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Talking.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
That's aggressive.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
That's a player talk.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I would love it.

Speaker 8 (20:16):
His surgery is more serious than the a cl right
I think he had he had yeah last year. Ye,
the graph Yeah, which apparently it's more.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Of a it was it was.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
It was a thing, yeah, the thing because one thing,
I know, how Jesse fail as an ex player. You know,
y'all are big fans and lovers of the Cowboys, so
we all think, but just come back, man and be
that guy. Right, you know, nobody's We're just given our opinion,
you know. And I want this kid to succeed, man,

(20:49):
because if he succeeded, the team succeed, you know, his
and his family succeed. You know that bank account just
continue to grow.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
And you're right, that's that's his If that's his way
to rehab.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
Good.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
I wait to be rehappy to go get some stink
on me somewhere.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
I would to rehab be like be over there early
in the morning over the turn Brown.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
Yeah, yeah, that would be my rehab.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
What would you rehab be, Kirk with Brent? Yeah, unless
you would be here in the building.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
Got to be, man, got to be because.

Speaker 8 (21:20):
It's too easy to get distracted.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Oh, I would be the king of distraction rehapben because
I'd be like, you know what, I could take one
day off. One day ain't gonna hurt me. And then
you know what, so you used to go two days,
they really gonna hurt.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
If you used to force a player, you you used
you you really could back if you had to.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
Make the old days. Oh hey, son, I need you
in the building. You know.

Speaker 6 (21:44):
But the way these contracts are made and the way
the Players Association finally started stepping about the thirty years
and not ever stepping up. Now they step up, you know, so,
uh what what you laughing about?

Speaker 4 (21:56):
You're just funny man.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
A personal story he holds something back, dollish.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
That's an AVIS out to sign that bargaining agreement, which
we shouldn't have.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
Everybody thinking, Mike Crayle, are you just coming off a bender?

Speaker 2 (22:14):
True? All right, let's take our first break. When we
come back, more football talk on hanging with the boys.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
Be right back.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Hey, Cowboy fans.

Speaker 10 (22:23):
I'm Dak Prescott, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, but lately
I've been learning a new game. Crypto sound confusing, don't worry.
Even US pros were rookies and crypto once. That's why
I trust blockchain dot Com. They make crypto easy, no
confusing jargon, just the tools to help you win.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Prescott keeps it slides with the first.

Speaker 10 (22:40):
Down, investigate your icons where everyone is a rookie in
crypto with blockchain dot Com perfect throw.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
I don't know what for.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
I got gas die jails break.

Oh gas ex I was. I was like, I don't
know what that is. I don't know whether to live
but not live?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Am I gonna get trouble with that? Was that that stuff.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
That's get closed? All right?

Speaker 8 (25:59):
So what.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
What's going on with the second round draft picks around
the league?

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Explain this to me?

Speaker 2 (26:06):
What's happened?

Speaker 8 (26:06):
Well, traditionally they're all slotted, the amount of money is
slotted for each pick, but they haven't been guaranteed contracts. Well,
this year, the first two picks in the second round,
those teams Cleveland and something else. YEA guaranteed those two
contracts for whatever reason. Well, now every other guy in

(26:27):
the second round, the agents are going, oh, we want
guaranteed contracts. So now everybody's.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Cleveland screwed up every ball man.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Cleveland gave DeShawn Washington on thirty million dollars guarantee. They
gave a second round picks guarantee of money. At some
point time that the owners is gonna be like, listen,
has them let me talk to you for a second,
my boy, Like, if you want to stay in this league,
stop stop doing what it's gonna cost us more money.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
And so now I don't even let they don't want
to hang out with him. The yeah, yeah, we going
over here.

Speaker 8 (26:56):
Texans were the other team. They started it. They gave
the second pick in the in the second round, real quick,
guaranteed money, and then Browns did it with the first
pick in the second round. Now everybody else Donovan the
second round pick as a rocket. Okay, he he's out
here working out, he's doing his part, but yeah, so screwed.
Screwy thing.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
He's working out. But he doesn't have a contract, correct,
which is very risky.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Right, if I'm not mistaken, Rookies have kind of a
clause that if something does happen before you sign your deal,
there is like some sort of insurance clause in it
that you can get something. Now, it doesn't it does.

(27:42):
Those claus aren't in when you get those veteran contracts.
That's why you see a lot of guys go, M
h ain't. I ain't showing up. I'm not doing any
of that. But I'm I'm I want to say that
I'm sure that in the rookies there's some sort of
insurance clause that if something happens before they sign their deal,
they're still covered with.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Some sort of money.

Speaker 8 (28:05):
Yeah, that's a crazy deal, though.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Do you think they'll ever I know the players always
they'll never get to where there's fully guaranteed contracts for football.

Speaker 8 (28:15):
Yeah, no, no, not with that number of players. But
I think it'll wouldn't surprise me they eventually you'll see
second rounders and getting guaranteed guaranteed money, start expanding the
people to get them. And they were already expanding the
amount and all that with the big players, but you know,
these young guys, the really bottom of the roster guys

(28:37):
aren't going to get guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
I think you'll see before you see guarantees for like
second and third rounders.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
I see.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
I think you'll see the quarterbacks get removed from the
salary cap number.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Make that just a separate, separate number.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
I think that will happen before.

Speaker 8 (28:50):
Yeah, it'd be nice though.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yeah, they should do that asap.

Speaker 8 (28:56):
Especially since we have the one of the most expensive
one of the guys.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
I do show what name is Roe Paris.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
He had a he had a good kind of a
concept like every five years, every five years, there should
be a.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Salary cap free year.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
So every five maybe five to seven years or something
like that, every NFL team can spend as much money
as they want on their roster for.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
That one year.

Speaker 8 (29:21):
Then the next year they have to be back.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Then you be back then.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, so you just go sign and make a bunch
of guys really rich.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Well well yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Then be like, hey, you're going to be out on
the street next year. But here's the bag. You get
a bag, You get a bag, you get I can.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Go with sign whoever, I want, whatever I want, as
much as I want for that year.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
Like college, I.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Still think they ought to create some kind of relegation
system for who. The NFL just creates some other league.
It's like a minor league. And every year, if you're
wanted the bottom like they do in soccer, if you
wanted the bottom, them teams in the League three or
you know, four, four six teams, you go down and

(30:06):
we bring another up and.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
You imagine that the Cowboys dropped into the second tier.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
No, let me ask you out di record.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Birmingham.

Speaker 4 (30:20):
That's crazy now the Birmingham bandits in the NFC East.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Me just way off topic of what you guys talking about,
because I've been thinking about it all day. Uh, Like
Washington came on the scene last year and just tell
me what what what you think of Washington now, how they.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Just popping on the scene. Was was that real? Was
that real? I mean they got they got a young quarterback.
Was that real?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
I think go ahead, no, No, I thought Washington was
building some pieces.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
They had always had the Bama boys up front, right,
good linebackers, received Carry Terry was in there.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
They had decent running back and Brian Robinson.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
It was they had a good a good combination of
bringing in the head coach and Dan Quinn. And then,
like anything else, you get a quarterback, you you put
yourself in a position to win. If your quarterback is
good enough, it elevates every other thing around you. And

(31:23):
so they got Jaydon Daniels and he was able to
elevate that team like no other quarterback could.

Speaker 6 (31:29):
And so do you feel the same way about Denver
and Sean? Is it Sean Baden or is it the
young guy bo Nicks?

Speaker 5 (31:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (31:36):
I mean I think that they came on the scene,
and I'm thinking, did we do enough just to come
back on the scene because Washington, I mean, we always
knew they had the players, the other players, the others,
they got a quarterback. We always knew Denver had some pieces.

(31:56):
They got a decent quarterback. They also got a our
mind in Sean Payton, And well, I've been just thinking
about that a lot because with his pickings, enough, is
this first round pick enough to make us competitive?

Speaker 5 (32:14):
Not not? I ain't talking about no second round.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Or if if Dak Prescott is healthier, you're competitive, right,
Like if Dark has got that health, Dark Helpscott, if
Dak Helpscott, if that's his.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
Name down.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
That, if Dak's health got better, Dak health.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Scott got better.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
If Dak prescott health is good, this team will be
in playoff contention, not Super Bowl contention, in playoff contention.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
And the combination I've had on my other show this
week was.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
Every single year, we have these compeinations and we break
down like wins, right like you know, and I always
come in and I say, all right, man, this quarterback
give me two three wins by itself. And this team
looked like it could give you about five to seven
wins as a team.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
By the rockster constructed in the coach. How many wins
can this coach get me?

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (33:09):
How many wins? You know, Like Sean McVay is good
by itself for three four wins? You're right, Kyle, Shanahan.
It used to be Bill Belichick was good for three
wins where they find a little thing in that game
where it it works for them and it pulls out
victory when all things didn't go well.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
And that is the big key.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
If that is healthy, you're gonna be I don't give
a damn what Vegas is talking about, because they still
moved off this seven seven and a half wins. Now,
maybe some people are getting some some feeling some kind
of way about that, maybe being injury pro. But if
he's healthy, he's gonna give you seven wins right now.

(33:55):
I need the team to give me another, maybe one
or two. What can this coaching and what came this
coach and coaching staff? What can they do win wise?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
And the thing is like you have no one has
any idea, none.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
But none had no one had any idea about McVeigh
or should right, you don't know, Dan Campbell, Dan Campbell
first year, you thought it was a Joke's gonna be
a joke. There's two coaches and we looked at we
were looking at and we said, they get wins off vibes,
and maybe maybe the vibes are coming from like Mike
Towland Dune coach offense, Dune coach defense, all vibes, Dan

(34:32):
Campbell dune coach offense, dunk coach.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Defense, all vibes. Right.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
So all they do is coaches, is create the the atmosphere,
the culture, right, the vibes. They don't call plays either
or on game day run the ball, they run the
ball forward or whatever it is. But Shoddy, being the
head coach and offensive coordinator, what are you going to bring?

(35:00):
How do we How does you, being the head coach,
get us over the playoff hump? Because you're gonna get
there with a healthy dock. If you got a healthy dock,
you're probably getting into the playoffs. But what happens, to
use a Nate term, what happens when the.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Talent is equal to oh, gret, yes, sir, how do
we get.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
Over the hump? That's when you need your stars to
rise and shine bright. That's when you need your head,
your head coach, your coaches, whoever the coordinators are. That's
what I need for you to give us a distinctive
vantage under the headsets to pull out some of these victories.
But what we have that with Shottenheimer, I don't know
right now vibes are high, right, we first team all

(35:43):
vibe going on right now?

Speaker 3 (35:45):
We all pro vibes around.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Here, all culture team right now, we all we fertiwhile
we first team, all coach are all vibes.

Speaker 5 (35:52):
Will that be easy? Yeah? Tim Collins about to cry
tell launch like that now.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yeah, it's I don't I mean, it's never happened around
here where you had a unknown coach. Right as far
as the rest of the league. Around here, he's known
because he's been around here, but an unknown coach where
the fans haven't just wanted to crucify and without giving

(36:22):
him a chance like that, He's won the Cowboy fan
base over, like I think everybody until until you get
that first loss. You know, then it may be the
sky has fallen. But like he has done every single
thing right. And you know how cynical this fan base is.
I can't believe we could have gone and got so
and so, we could have done this, or we could
have done it. Like everything's been hunky dory. You made

(36:45):
a really good move and going and getting pickings like
you kind of you know that squashed all we don't
ever do anything in the off season. Well, now you
went and got a really good wide receiver. It's so
quiet and so peaceful right now. It's like, what kind
of hell is going to break loose in a few
weeks when training camp starts, Like it's never been this

(37:09):
peaceful after you got rid of a coach and after
you know all the questions that are out there. It's
like something something's gonna.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
Happen because we had a depleted roster.

Speaker 6 (37:22):
You know, I better stay our unknown roster like this
in a long time where we just don't know, you know,
who's who and how they're going to be positioned and.

Speaker 8 (37:32):
Who's going to be healthy.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
Yeah, yes, we I mean discussing a guy I would
never thought for any team, we'll be discussing a guy
that had.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Semi major surgery not be in the building. Have you
ever heard of that before?

Speaker 6 (37:49):
Yeah, I mean he's had a pretty serious surgery and
not in the building on a regular basis.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
So it's a lot of it's a lot of new territory.
We're covering fellas.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
But the team isn't that you're saying, they're still showing
seven wins, seven and a half wins or whatever. I
would think the defense and how that I mean that
the defense still scares me a little. You got Micah
and and then what you know, a bunch of guys.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
Hang on to that.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Let us take the last break. When we come back,
we will answer that question. Think about it, Jack, because
if Kurt looked directly at you and he said, we'll
let you answer that when we come back for the
last few minutes of hanging with the boys.

With the bulls, Oh, Welcome back to the final segment
of Hanging with the Boys. Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holly, Nate Newton,
Shannon Groves, the last time together for who knows when
it's gonna be a minute. So Kurt has a parting question,
what about this defense? Go Jesse?

Speaker 8 (41:03):
Do they need to make any moves between now and training?

Speaker 5 (41:06):
Because he said before we left off, got Micah.

Speaker 8 (41:13):
Extreme, I got some guy, we got some talent. But
thats in there? Digitsu, I mean there's there's some other players.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Obviously Marrifoul.

Speaker 8 (41:23):
Marrifoul, worry about I mean tackles, who is that top
of the runners? Stilling a cornerback? Scare me because after Bland,
who do you got? You know, there's it's all question
marks after that, you know.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
If the Cowboys are serious, Like, are you serious about
being more than just regular season contenders? I think you
got to continue to turn over every stone kick all
those tires, you know, I know that. You know, we
had a discussion the other day about Jalen Ramsey and
and uh and Gile Alexander and maybe some people are

(41:56):
priced out of your market. But if what Stephen Jones
says that football is the three hundred and sixty five
year round thing, then it should be that it shouldn't
be when you come back off the yacht, right when
you leave Marc's vineyard or the Hamptons or the South

(42:21):
of France. It should be we're trying to acquire talent
year round. And there are question marks still left on
this defense while you signed you know, Osa and Solomon,
those guys aren't They aren't run stoppers.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Sorry.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
Olsa is not a run stopper, Alone Time is not
a run stopper. Peyton Turns not a run stopper. We
don't know what Mazi is right now, like we don't
we don't know if he's a run He's not a
run stopper, he's a mas round, he's a Mazi. And
so you know they're bringing some guys in. That's from
the from the from the UFL guys tryouts.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
But again, I'm.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
I don't want to sit here and say, well, you're
in the UFL for a reason, USFL for a reason, right, Like,
you're not gonna be the guy that comes in No, no, no, no,
See I don't want to be that guy that says that.
But you're not going to be the guy that comes
in here and all of a sudden become the the
run stopping got it?

Speaker 5 (43:24):
Mega?

Speaker 3 (43:25):
No, you you not saying that you can't make it
to this league and be a player.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
But I don't you know what I'm saying, Like, I
don't believe he's gonna be the guy that comes in
here and all of a sudden now the one position
that looking in the field for thirty years.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Wait a minute, you know we gotta we gotta a
three time Super Bowl winner, six time Pro bowler that
made that transition. I made all usvel two get pretty
damn good making that transition.

Speaker 6 (43:48):
But you gotta understand, Reggie White was in the US,
Steve Yeow was to the US Hersha Walker.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
It was a different I get the talent was a
little deeper.

Speaker 5 (44:00):
I had a protest.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
That's why they.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
So you should you should be And then you also
have to remember that there are going to be people
to get cut during training camp.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
But yeah, man, like I thought.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
George Pickens was a all inish type of move. But
finish it, finish it, like go get more players around him.
I don't care about. Like, honestly, I don't care about
if George picking crash out, you crash out, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
It's almost like the hokey pokey right, put put your
left foot in, you take your left foot out, like
we're going all in right here, right, let's let's flip
it and go get the other side where you get
a micap, you know, two point zero and build. I'm
kind of with you, Like I feel really good about

(44:53):
the offense one special teams offense.

Speaker 12 (44:56):
I still okay about the offense. Run games a little suspect,
run games a little sus And we don't know, no, no, no, no,
the line they feel good about the line. I haven't seen,
but this is what makes it nice. One thing we
know and we can all agree on, I think, is
when it becomes.

Speaker 5 (45:15):
Third and five third, four or five or six. When
when Pickings run out there and my man run out there.

Speaker 8 (45:25):
CD.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
Now you got a decision the right, whereas before you
now that don't have to worry about everybody playing a
whole lot of games. Especially if you have early completions
to these two guys.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
One of them is gonna win.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
Yeah, So if you.

Speaker 6 (45:39):
Got early completionency, now you got now that automatically helps
offensive coordinator.

Speaker 5 (45:46):
So then you have.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Holding left tackle.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
Stop you don't right? This is the last right? No,
it isn't.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
No?

Speaker 5 (46:02):
Is that not?

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Is that not a truthful thing?

Speaker 5 (46:05):
This is you go on there the.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Third let's rock and roll. Make a decision.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
Cool, what big time catch by George Pickings for a
first down? He gets up, he does his thing, and
he does his first down, big time first down to
ceedee Lamby.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
He does his thing.

Speaker 3 (46:22):
Camp that's fine for him.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
Well, he'll do his first down thing and then you
look around and go, oh, but there's laundry on the
ground holding.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Offense.

Speaker 5 (46:34):
Right, But he's also he's also said the right things.

Speaker 6 (46:38):
That's why I can't get wait to get in the
training camp because he's also owned up his lack of
production last year. This kid, and so I'm just so
excited man to get to this training camp.

Speaker 8 (46:49):
He was hard. He was one of the best off
season working guys working.

Speaker 5 (46:55):
Yeah.
