As a team getting ready to play the tough half of its schedule, where can the Cowboys find success? Is it simply winning? Is it building an identity? Also, what’s going on with the offensive line? Have injuries kept them from finding cohesion? And we were told Brian Schottenheimer started spending more time in the defensive meetings, but now the offense has struggled. Coincidence?

telling you that I took the one that I wanted
the most out of the problem, and I decided I

(03:20):

ties that Roger has given us.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
A couple of festive ones.

Speaker 7 (03:27):

Speaker 7 (03:40):
And then the and then the chicken with the Yeah,

Speaker 7 (03:53):
Cock and the clock cock a doodle dooing.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
So which one you want, Kurt the cock take one,
take the preference.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
Yeah I did yeah, yeah, I got I got on
I got on it early.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
So uh.

Speaker 7 (04:53):
He watches our show religiously every single day, so he
is tapped and tied in. He said to you, Shenon,
he said, you know, there are times when you begin
to talk that you actually know more about football.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Than you lead on to believe.

Speaker 9 (05:07):
Times I said times, I said, times said he was.

Speaker 6 (05:11):
In the building for like how many years?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Twenty?

Speaker 7 (05:13):
Yeah, I said, there are times where he said, you
know what, thanks, I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
So he loves the show man. So don't we have
an extra day this week?

Speaker 2 (05:22):

last week. We do have extra Monday games? Yeah, yeah,
extra yeah, extra day.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah. So well, thank you, Roger, Yes, thank you, Roger,
thank you. We love gifts and Jesse.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
That was very smart of you because you look because
you know if that is very sharp, because you know,
if you'd have brought that in here and Nate would
have wanted it, you wouldn't have left with that.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
No, no, no no, I would have had him. I would
have been okay to you, said, Roger liked me the best,
So I mean, why didn't I get first?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
But but you know what, to your defense, you are
on camera more these days than any of us.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
No, right, think we're lying around. You can find just
YouTube what else.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I'm everywhere?

Speaker 6 (06:11):
Well, thank you. I'm just laughing looking at Shannon and
his camera and I'm sure that tie is. I want
everybody to be able to see all the time.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
My god child, little a little time snap when you're
like four years old.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
That fits. That's it.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
That's it. There you go, all right. Also before we
get going, uh.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
Happy belated birthday to you. You you snuck that in
real yesterday. Happy belated birthday. I was like, you stuck
that in on this okay.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
What's so? What it makes you?

Speaker 6 (06:49):
Fifty three three three. All right, I'm getting up there.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I was gonna bring it up, but I don't think
yesterday's show was was the lie?

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah? Hm hmm.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
Share a birthday with the Marines.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
I went out to dinner and had a couple of
Miller lights last night.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Did it? Did it properly?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
No?

Speaker 6 (07:11):
But it was a hell of a weekend. I'll tell
you that.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
All right, you made it for I was in recovery man.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
Okay, okay, if you could tell my voice is a
little horse.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Oh so.

Speaker 7 (07:20):
Yeah, you know, you might need to do some renaming
around here, kirt.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
I might need to be shanning to pump. You know
what I'm saying. Gross.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah it was good, so but uh it was gross.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Well if it wasn't, they if you ain't, you ain't
having no fun. Anybody to trailer parks.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
There you go, and uh, thank you to everybody that
has served the country in some branch in the military.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Uh shout out to Uncle Burley, set out to Uncle Stanley.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Was my uncles who.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
Served very good.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Shout out to everyone that helped defend the freedoms of
the country and still do so appreciate.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
That fitting his freedom with Kirk can get two pumps.
I'm talking, do it in the group. Maybe you can't
do it in the group.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
They to find that they did so funny.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
They probably said, yeah, you get two pumps. You did two,
he did. That's ten pumps everybody you could get to
and one person get two.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
But if all y'all get to, that's ten.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
Through the Who pays the fine on that rico?

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Because you initiate? You initiated this rico? Yeah, you scored
a touchdown. We don't do this out you scoring a touchdown?

Speaker 5 (08:29):
And before we get to Cowboys football, has there ever
been a better team with a better record that seems
like they're in more disarray than the Philadelphia Eagles. I mean,
you got guys fighting on the sideline. Listen to the
national media and he might be the only quarterback since

(08:50):
Eli that's trash that won a Super Bowl. According to everybody,
he is awful. But they just keep winning games.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
I just tell you what kind of roster they have, man,
that roster. That roster is so complete from top to bottom.
Is that you can have a below average quarterback or
he not play above average and you still be able
to You know, they won the game last night ten
to seven. I know think about that like Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
You don't kind of defense.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
You got to have to hold any NFL offense to
seven points.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
It's pretty good, not bad.

Speaker 7 (09:25):
Let's go one more point to the other team. That's
when they says every week one point.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yep by one by one one.

Speaker 6 (09:30):
We'll see what he says this week. Weird, very weird week.
This week, right had the bye week.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
If they ever had a bye week and then a
Monday night game has happened.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
I heard this from Chris Arnold this morning. He was
talking to Jerry.

Speaker 7 (09:44):
There's never been this many Sundays that had passed by
in Cowboys history that the Cowboys did not play on Sunday.
It's weird because they played what Monday night, right, and
then they had the bye and then they'll play on
Monday night this week, so that'll be three one two,
three sundays the Cowboys have played.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
It's never happened in Cowboy history.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Wow, They've had this many Sundays pass by and they
don't play a game on Sunday.

Speaker 10 (10:10):
I think Derek was saying that they don't travel on
a Saturday until like the last game of the season.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Wow, because all the games are Thursday, and Monday Monday.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
That's weird.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Wow, that's wild.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
By the way, congratulations to all the MAVs fans out there,
big news coming out of Dallas today.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
You'll have a little bit to talk about on your
other shows.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Jesse, Well the Map show, did we still talk cowboys?

Speaker 6 (10:36):
They came out of the blue.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Nico's going, all right.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
Let's get into some cowboy football.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
They paid him in advance.

Speaker 10 (10:44):
Yeah, he made his money for sure.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
A lot of that going around in sports these days.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Just bring them in football.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
I take one of those college jobs, sit on my cap.

Speaker 7 (10:56):
Always said I didn't want to coach, but like, man,
I need to start getting to this coaching thing. Man
is failing, failing up is happening.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Go hard for eight years, let your name get your
head coaching the job, and just say, hey, I'm through
this a dounk if you want these.

Speaker 7 (11:11):
We heard from Jimbo Fisher, heard scene and heard Jimbo coach. Oh,
James Franklin, you give me fifty million dollars.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
I'll disappear. I will disappear, gladly, gladly. All right, Nate,
what's wrong with the offensive line? Can you help us out?

Speaker 2 (11:31):
The injuries? They haven't played together. They they haven't played together. Uh.
You know when the first injury with our left tackle
guiding went down and training camp, I s fellas, this
ain't good. And I looked at the film hard. I
was just looking at our offensive line because I didn't
want to say the wrong things. And I noticed right

(11:54):
away I left guard, he has hurt. Yeah, he ain't
just a little little, you know, a little nagging something.
Whatever's going on with him. He is hurt bad. So
he pushing his way through guiding. Uh he a hit
and miss. I mean it's just two plays, he'll play well.

(12:15):
One play he'll just give it up. Uh that's what
I'm saying. Last year he was just give it up.
This year here he's getting a little. But it's not
enough for you to be saying, hey, this is your
starting future left tackle. The right tackle is starting that.
I think they're gonna start splitting reps with with Nathan

(12:35):
and your interior is gonna be okay. But they have
to work together. I tried to say this earlier when
Jesse said that the Cowboys will have to score forty points,
and I said, in my mind, you have to be
as offensive line. No injuries you cannot suffer injuries, especially
because especially looking at our now schedule. Remember four or

(13:00):
five weeks ago he was like, oh this is guess
what coming is? Here? Is here? So now you need
for every guy that's an offensive lineman that's been started
has to be playing at a premium level. It ain't
no more.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Oh man, we ain't.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Got this guy. It's gonna hurt you. It's gonna it's
gonna hurt you bad.

Speaker 10 (13:21):
So now that it's a year, do you need to
be replacing your right tackle.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Uh, put one of them in, let's ride and let
your sister be built around there. Yeah, just put one
of the men in and let us ride. Uh.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
When you say put one of them in, and you're
talking about the current went in or put.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
A new one in, whatever they want to do, because
until we see Nathan play, we don't know. Because he
went in the game for five or six snaps and
they ran around him too. So what I'm saying, let
him get some reps if you, but don't be going
back and forth. Don't do that because when they people
start running games and stunts and all this right here,

(14:00):
you don't want somebody Oh I didn't see that Okay,
we don't. That's Dak. Every time we make a mistake, guys,
offensive line, that's Dak gonna pay for that. You know,
running backs they kind of can see that, you know,
even as a quick escape they can see that. But
Dak dropped back pump one time and turn his back
to look over here because you know, set up the
safety and now he done got sigt up.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
You know what I'm saying Twice? They don't fly? Say
what pumped? Twice?

Speaker 6 (14:25):
Yes, they are just can quarterbacks pump as much as
I want?

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Yeah, I just I've argued with people, and I believe this.
If our offensive line was intact, if our offensive line
was just a B rated offensive line, it couldn't beat
you in the bad days for us. But you know

(14:50):
I'm saying on this, when teams get equal better.

Speaker 7 (14:54):
One thing that that troubles me and I don't. I
don't closely cover any other team in the National Football
League but the Dallas Cowboys. So I am uniquely No,
I'm just I'm uniquely situated in this system. I watch

(15:15):
football every day, right, I'm always watching it and I
study it.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
But it just feels like and maybe it's different.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
Other places I don't know, but I'm just talking for
where I'm sitting, is that we have to almost have
everything go perfect for us to have success. Like for example,
like to me, one of the to me, one of
the scariest and baddest.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
In a good way football teams in the league right
now is the Los Angeles Rams. Name me an offensive lineman.

Speaker 7 (15:50):
I don't think I have a first round off first
round offensive lineman on their on their offensive line.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Three. It's like, how do they do it?

Speaker 7 (16:00):
How do they have such a prolific offense when they
don't have three first round offensive linemen?

Speaker 3 (16:06):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 7 (16:07):
Like the New England Patriots right now, they're playing some
of the breast bend of football. They don't have three
first round offensive linemen. It just feels like we have
to have now. I'm always going to be in agreements
in agreements about having good players, and I do think
on both sides of the ball, you need to have

(16:28):
those at least an elite player on both sides of
the ball and an above average quarterback. Those are prerecord sets.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Of you being good.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
Pick a defender, pick an offensive player, and a quarterback.
But there are so many other teams that are out
here having success, the sevens for forty nine ers, they
are as injured or not more than we.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Are, winning record, winning record, they're five and three.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
Like it just seems like if we if everything isn't perfect.
And again I don't cover other teams as closely as
I cover this team, but I've been around here for
a long time, and I remember the days when if
Tyron was having one of his back issues and couldn't

(17:21):
play in the game, couldn't do nothing.

Speaker 10 (17:24):
That's the thing. It's been different coaches, it's been different players.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
If Sean Lee was missing the game, we couldn't play
defense at all.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
So I'm just like, what is it about this place?

Speaker 7 (17:35):
And like you said, Kurt, it's been different coaches, it's
been different coordinators, it's been different eras. What is it
about this place? Excuse me that makes people? Not make people?
But the players have to be perfect for us to
have any level of success, and like perfect consistently, because

(17:56):
I see it happen week in and week out all
across this league of players, of teams not having the
best players at the offensive.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Line and still go out there points.

Speaker 7 (18:08):
But here we have three first round picks and there. Yeah,
I don't know, man, I just look at that and
I just like I scratched my head. I'm just like,
you know what I'm saying, Like, what is it? How
many first round how many first round offensive linemen do

(18:29):
the Seattle team have?

Speaker 3 (18:34):
You know what I mean. It's just I don't know.

Speaker 6 (18:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
I just or is it that we we're just so
close to it?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
It could be now you're telling the truth. We we
have no, we have not had an identity of whether
it's physicalness, elite smartness. I'll tell you why the forty
nine ers keep racking it. They smart. They're smart for us.
You know, I'm not saying they don't have penalties, but

(19:03):
they're a smart football team. And they know who every
player is and what every player can do, and they
mashed and they put all that together. Same way with
the Rams. They know who they are, They know how
to practice. They try to show us how to practice.
But you got to have depth. They know what they want,

(19:24):
they know what they're looking for. Philadelphia, let a guy
go to free agency this past year. They said, oh,
we need a swing tackle and trade it back to
the team that got him and brought him back in
and guess what he started last night. That's knowing who
you are. That's knowing, that's getting a coach, putting him

(19:45):
in place, and demanding the best from your players, not
not oh we we waiting on the in the league
and we waiting on this guy. But you got to understand,
you ain't wone with them guys either, because they there's
not a standard. And I'm hoping that with Getney's Wilson,

(20:07):
with getting Quinny, that you're starting to set an example
of what to expect and demand. And it begins and
ends with Shady. You know, it begins and ends with
the head coach of the Rams. It begins and ends
with the head coach of the forty nine ers. And

(20:27):
I'm talking about teams that being consistent and even when
they had a down year, they come back this year
and got like eight nine guys injured. They don't even
talk about them no more. They don't even talk about
the injury guys more. Because this is what we plan
and this is how we got to play. And so
until we find that true identity, I ain't talk about
no culture. I'm talking about that true identity. Are you

(20:49):
gonna have the greatest, smartest players that may not be
as athletic, but our depth is in place because this
intelligence can overtake. Are you gonna just have some mean
rough I hurt you type guys like Philly defensive line
that's just gonna take advantage of you. You got to
make a decision.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Good stuff.

Back to Hanging with the Bulls.

Speaker 6 (23:25):
Welcome back to the second segment.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
I Hang with the boys brought you each and every
show a boy blockchain dot Com, Thank you, blockchain dot Com.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
Good stuff, fellas.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
I got the ties on.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
You ain't got that.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Oh that's funny.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
That's funny, Kurt.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
Kurt's funny. Sometimes you just grab the tie.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah, yeah, I want to tie on. He's showing his love.

Speaker 10 (23:51):
Man, appreciate this gift.

Speaker 5 (23:52):
Yeah, man, speaking of appreciating gifts. So we're gonna get
to wear our jerseys on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
I better put mine in the truck because don't want.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
If you get mine's in my bag. It's been my
bag for three weeks.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Yeah, my truck. I forget man, sweetheart, if you're listening, please.

Speaker 10 (24:08):
We're gonna have to wear it on a Friday. Stop
some love.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Yeah, this stretch is coming up and we might not
wear Hold on, man, it's here. It's here, This stretch
wing stop is here.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
It is Chris see ride with me here. Just the
reason I'm saying to shoot pick me up this time? Yeah,
the reason I say the stretch is here. You are like,
we beat the Cogitals. No, we did not beat the Cogitis.
The stretches here, Fellas, the stretch is here. You're gonna

(24:44):
have to go? Are they coming to us? We're going
to Vegas. Yeah, you're gonna have to remember that we
ain't want We ain't won on the road yet, have we.
We've lost at home, but we ain't run on the road. Yeah.
We beat the Jets.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
We beat sorry, the Jets on the road, on the road,
on the road.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
All right, But you know, like New Jersey's kind of
home for us, but at least for Dak there.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
But I just match Crosby plays on the left side
of the defensive line.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Mm hm, the right side of our offense.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
So do you think this is a good time to
play musical tackles? See that? That's what I'm saying me.
If I'm office line coach, if I'm coach Connor, I'm like,
look here, coach, I know you're running this, but I
need to get this one guy all the reps and
then we need to scheme off of that right there.
We don't need to do that, you know, because that

(25:39):
right they can get your hurt. That you know, tackles
can get your hurt playing them musical tackles. That you
may can go in that middle of a little bit,
but you can't go out on them, on them tackles
and go to playing musical tackles. Problem.

Speaker 10 (25:52):
You know, the last game gets Arizona, they put in
Thomas at right tackles. Sit here, let's just see what
he got. And he was pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
That's what I'm trying to tell you. You practicing all year
at left tackle while while Guidon was out, and you
said this is his best position, so you pigeonholding and
then when the seasons start, Yeah, we know you, but
let's get over here, you know. And some people say,
well it shouldn't make a difference. Yes it does, Yes

(26:22):
it does. I could play left guard, I could play
right tackle, but it was something about putting me at
right guard I could not get right. In my head.
I just could not get it right.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
Is it your footwork, your hands?

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Bro? I didn't know what it was when they blew
through padmel A couple of times. I just found out
I didn't have a job, you know. So each person
is different, and I'm not saying that these men can't learn.
They're probably more athletic than I was. They you know,
but your quarterback, we always thought about, Troy. You always

(27:01):
think about true, we never put in a pass play
a new run unless we knew how to block it.
That predicated you can catch the pass all day in practice.
But if we up front when blocking this thing right,
that had to go to the next week. It's always
about the protection. It's that is first and foremost. Any

(27:22):
offensive quarter is how I got a million pass plays.
You better be having a dude sit right to you.
The office line coach said, well, you ain't got a
million protections, and the head coach and said, well, we
ain't running a million play. We may run seven hundred
of them, but we ain't running a million. That's just
how it gonna go because the quarterback is the only
thing that counts.

Speaker 6 (27:44):
Speaking of we've heard that shot. He's been spending more time.
We touch on this a little bit.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
Is that a coincidence they haven't been scoring in the
offense hast looked as great with him not spending as
much time they're on the off and subsided.

Speaker 7 (28:02):
There is nothing that is I mean, there is no
information or data that we can take from that and say, well,
this is the reason this happened.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
But you could speculate.

Speaker 7 (28:17):
You can speculate that your attention has been over on
the defense and how in trying to figure those things out.
And you know, at the end of the day, you
become you're human, and so you know where you lack at.
You spent time over there. So now are you is
that getting into your brain as your calling plays? Are

(28:38):
you calling plays now because you know where the super
weaknesses are on the defense because you spend time over there.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
I don't know, but who the two courts like.

Speaker 7 (28:54):
The timing of it is a correlation between the timing
of it of when this offense took a hit and
when you said you started spending more time with the defense.
Those timelines match, so it leaves you It opens up
the door and leaves the door open for you to
walk in and speculate. It's saying that it's because you

(29:16):
s went down the hallway and spending more time over there.
Maybe now it could just simply be the posts you
were playing with just was that much better could be.
That's the thing about it is that because you opened
up and you said that, and then now we're seeing it,
people will start to try to connect these dots in
some way, shape or form. Again, there's no evidence of it, Like,

(29:39):
there's nothing that says we don't know how he could
have been down the hall with the defense for five minutes, right,
could have been down there for fifteen hours.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
We don't know. We're just left with the level of speculation.

Speaker 7 (29:50):
And because we don't have any concrete evidence, we're trying
to figure out ourselves the best way that we could
put the stuff together, like make it make sense to us,
make the math math. Because the one thing that was
ridding high was this offense. There was a stretch of this,
you know when when Dak had thirteen touchdowns and no
interceptions and I mean anything was rolling. And then now

(30:13):
it seems like the train off the track a little bit,
and and it's this team, even with the additions of
Logan Wilson and Quinn Williams and getting revel back and
overshown back, it's still gonna be predicated on whether's office
can score or not.

Speaker 6 (30:31):
And you know what, that's how are we media? Do
we consider our sales media?

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Yeah, yeah, we are. We do.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
That's how we as media ruined coaches and players.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Because we found coaches ruined themselves. We just help them
out the door.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
Well, we finally get like a coach in here that
that's got personality and he's honest and he's telling you
what's going on, and we love it. We're like, yeah, shot,
he's changing the culture and he's doing this. And then
you start off and you're having a bad year, and
then you're honest about, yeah, I've been spending more time
in the defensive room. And then we start speculating and
poking holes in and then he's gonna go, I ain't

(31:11):
gonna tell them nothing like I'm gonna protect myself. I'm
gonna protect my guys. And then we're gonna get coach
speak next year, so you know, and we do that
with players too. You get you get a rookie in
here and he's all friendly and nice and he'll do
anything you ask him to do. And then and then
the media chews him up and spits him out and
he goes I just won't say anything. I'll just be like, well,
you know what, it was a total team effort and

(31:33):
we played you know, we'll play anybody anywhere, the moon,
the parking lot, whatever, like.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
We just we can't get out of our own way,
like we want to hear the truth.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
And then when we hear the truth, we we dissected
and you know, and and close everybody up.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
So you know what, you know what cancels all of.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
That out winning Winning?

Speaker 7 (31:52):
You win, right, you win helps winning helps it all
winning because you only start to snoop and and recky
specky and try to piece things together and timelines and
maps and what was this? When you're losing, when things
aren't going well, is when you begin your investigation of why.

(32:14):
When things are going great, he can say that, hey,
you know, I woul down now on Harry Hans half
the week and you be like, go back right.

Speaker 6 (32:25):
We gave the players Thursday and Friday.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
You know what I'm saying the next right, go back
down there.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
You want you want to sponsor you when you go
back whatever it is, Winning changes all of those things.
It's in these moments when you're losing and things aren't
looking good that now more eyes and ears and people
begin to have these thoughts of why is this happening?
Because we're seeing like you got quarterback is dead, running

(32:53):
back is dead. You got name brand offensive linemen and
receivers and all that, and the.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Names are there. Why is that happen? The speculation begins.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
All right, let's speculate somemorre when we come back after
this last break on Hanging with the Boys.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
Back to Hanging.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
With the Bulls.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
Welcome back to the final segment of Hanging with the Boys.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
Just like seven.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Eleven, we're always open for business, Kurt, where do you
want to go with this?

Speaker 10 (35:35):
Well, I've been kind of wondering that. So we've talked about,
you know, offensive line and change things. We got these
news players coming back offense and as you said this,
we're here.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
This is the hard part of the hard part of it.

Speaker 10 (35:48):
We all realistically know that this team probably isn't going
to make the playoffs given the start they already had.
So as we entered the last half of this season,
what does success look like to you guys?

Speaker 3 (36:03):
What do they need to do to.

Speaker 10 (36:05):
Say, Okay, they're now in the playoffs, but maybe the
identity is changing or they're hitting the right direction, that
kind of thing.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
I'm sorry, Kurt, I don't live in the fantasy world
of what six No, this is not, this is not
this is not at you and some people may have
a different answer. Somebody be like, well, I need to
see this this. You don't go to the playoffs, you
don't win, you didn't have success. It is a it
is an absolute failure. And I'm and this is and

(36:35):
I don't I don't want to say what other people
may think. This is coming from this athlete's brain, the
world that I come from. And to me, if the
goal was set to win a championship and you at
some point in time falter in that journey, you failed.

(36:58):
Now there are lessons in failure. You can learn lessons
in failure. You failed in my eyes because the goal
was to go get a championship and through that there
are milestones that you get when you get there. Right
when our division, then you want to win the conference,
and then you want to win the super Bowl. And

(37:23):
if they're not even meeting the part where they win
the division, how can anything else like a success? So
to me, there is no version of success it if
you don't make the run to the playoffs, that's just
my like you, this season has to end with you
entering the playoffs to have that level of what did

(37:45):
the season mean? Because the season will have that part
and I haven't made the playoffs. That's one of the
goals that you hit.

Speaker 10 (37:51):
But well, I guess then does the bar I mean,
I know, as players, the bar doesn't lower. It's always win.
But as fans, are you saying, Okay, we're not making
the playoffs? But I want to see?

Speaker 13 (38:03):
I don't know?

Speaker 6 (38:04):
All right, let me rephrase that for you.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
Do you think Jimmy at the end of year one thought,
even though on the field it looked like chaos. Right,
do you think he thought heading out of that first year,
we're on the right track. And next year as the
first year coach, you got to think like, all right,
this is.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Gonna suck this first year. But you don't think that.

Speaker 6 (38:24):
You don't think so you don't.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
I don't think Hmon got here and thought this was
gonna suck.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
You think he thought we got the pieces in place.
I think it will run this year.

Speaker 13 (38:34):
I think, yeah, before the trades, we won we won
a preseason game and coach Johnson was his static and
the next game we got beat down.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
And that and that changed his whole mindset. Uh, all
he can look at was who I'm finna get rid of? Yeah,
I'm gonna be here and you got to play for
your life. He literally said that, So I'm with you.
Just coaches, coaches don't never come with were making it.

(39:14):
That's that's college Okay, NEBRONXA just jumped up on us,
not even.

Speaker 7 (39:18):
Say that.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
We're not a very good team. So you know we're
not on that level. So hey, let's try to save
our kids, you know, because they got to go play
Oklahoma again next week, so we let's save ourselves. This
this is the pros coaches, The coaches feel it. Man,
coaches feeling you ever coach two weeks ago and coach
day ball or three weeks ago when that kid went

(39:42):
into the that he wouldn't leave that tent because he
knew his life depending on it. But this kid went
down again and he didn't make it back this time.
But coach the ball gone. Winning is the only thing.
And then as much as I want to say, hey,
I'm looking for this and I'm looking for that, but
at the end of the day, this Joan will be like, make.

Speaker 7 (40:05):
Me see what you see because next year, yeah, it
isn't promised, right like next year, who just say that
the team, well for sure, the team won't look the
same next year.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
That's no team looks the same because you're gonna.

Speaker 7 (40:21):
Draft guys, you're gonna sign guys a free agency, you're
gonna cut.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Godsty percent of.

Speaker 7 (40:26):
The roster turns over every single year, So the team
won't look the same. The schedule won't be the same, right,
The team that you play next year are gonna be
different than the teams that you played this year. Outside
of your your your NFCA opponents.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
Everybody's season older.

Speaker 7 (40:43):
Everybody's a season older, right, everybody's one play away from
season ended injury.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
You know, so this you.

Speaker 7 (40:55):
The carryover for it all is different? Yeah, well that
will be next year because contract says but health don't
say that, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (41:05):
Like, well, how can you as a as a to
your point as a coach, you lose this against Vegas,
it's over, right, it's probably mathematically you're over.

Speaker 10 (41:15):
It's pretty over now.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
It's pretty open right now.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
You got to go like seventy one, six and two.

Speaker 5 (41:19):
So is that is that the only way you can
find success in the second half of the season is
you just got to run the table and you lose
one game and that's that success? Or Like, could you say,
you know what, we fought hard and we started establishing
an identity and our offensive line started jelling. These guys
we picked up from these other teams came in and
the defense, we can stop the run finally.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Better, you start to run better better.

Speaker 5 (41:46):
Yes, it could that be viewed as success or those
guys over there on that side of the building go, no,
we didn't make the playoffs, is it? That's the player mentality,
right and the coach mentalities, like we had one goal
that was to do this and we didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
So okay, they jailed whooped? You do? Right?

Speaker 5 (42:00):
As fans, I think you just always want some kind
of hope, like, hey, we started looking better. You know,
you don't want to just be like, is it sucks
we lost Vegas? We're I don't want to watch the
games the rest of the year because.

Speaker 7 (42:10):
Yeah, because season, I mean, you don't make the you
don't make the playoffs, and that geling doesn't matter. The
jail goes away and we got a whole new offseason,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Like, so like it's it's as a fan, it's just
too it's too long to think.

Speaker 6 (42:25):
Okay, it's November.

Speaker 5 (42:26):
The eleventh and basically I'm gonna have to wait until
the middle of July next year to.

Speaker 6 (42:34):
Have meaningful football again. So as a fan, you you
cling onto something and.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
Go to August you mean September.

Speaker 5 (42:43):
Just to get football back with hope in July.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
Yeah, we meaning for preseason games. But I'm just talking.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
About to get the new product on the field. This
is too as a fan like you fans, I think gauge.
It is like, Okay, I want to watch the games
on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (43:00):
Therefore, I mean you can turn into spoiler alert fan
like you, just like we're gonna just ruin everybody else's season,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 10 (43:06):
Like, well, I mean it's for players in that hard
because if you're you know, you drop next two or three,
you're done, But you still got a month of month
and a half games to play.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
As a players, a smart player gonna play his players
hard out. The guy that loves football, gonna play his
hard out. The guy that was who he was, that
guy that didn't care anyway, He ain't not gonna change you.
That that that's the thing that we do know about football.
It's some guys that that got great talent, but you know,

(43:36):
they don't care. You be like when you when you
go to work, you know, like, man, I gotta work
by behind all this, dude hero or even cares he
got to do.

Speaker 7 (43:43):
That's hard feeling you talking about No, you ain't never
said nothing true to what you just said, because I
lived that.

Speaker 6 (43:52):
I lived that is that piss you off? Oh?

Speaker 3 (43:54):
It is so frustrating.

Speaker 7 (43:56):
And and to think, boy, you've been so blessed to
even be at this level. I'm working hard.

Speaker 2 (44:02):
And don't even care.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
They don't even care, don't give a damn don't And
he's and when God was making his talent, he just
just turned the bottle over. It's like here, talent talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent,
and he's just like you don't you can do?

Speaker 5 (44:20):
And knowing how good those guys could be if they
just put half the effort in.

Speaker 7 (44:25):
Boy, man, I can give you fifteen names right now,
dudes who I've been on teams with.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
I'm just like, that's why Mike overhanded that listened to
Jim and when he walked.

Speaker 7 (44:34):
In you like you are you just if you just
put that much a little bit of hustle behind that
muscle you would be, and they'll stick around for a
couple of years, five, six, seven years, and they may
get a contractor. But you're just like, it's one of
the most frustrating things ever. But there's also another group
of guys where you lose to the Raiders on one day,

(45:00):
need forty seven more catches to get to my bonus
I need.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
And then you get in trouble because everybody starts doing
their own thing, right.

Speaker 7 (45:09):
Yeah, oh man, shoot, I'm I'm three interceptions away from
five hundred thousand.

Speaker 3 (45:16):
Oh I need, I need, I need, I need, I
need games. Yeah, snaps.

Speaker 7 (45:21):
In fact, I got to play seventy eight percent of
the snaps for this bonus to click off, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
And that's where your coaches got to like together, right, that's.

Speaker 7 (45:30):
When things get a little bit. I've also lived. I've
also been a part of some of those. I've also
been part of some of those. When you get to four, five,
six games in the season, you start cast like, hey man,
you can tell someone so to come get these cars,
man and take them back to the house. We go
because we stay in Miami this offseason. They start cleaning up,
they start cleaning out. They home, and He're like, we listen,

(45:51):
we don't stay here in the off season. We go
back to Houston, we go back to Miami. We go
I'm back in California. I'm in Arizona. People start coming
to that stuff about about a month away.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
Let's just let let me tell you the ultimate killer.
This is the ultimate killer. When you know a guy
that gave it up. And I said, yo, jests, remember
now late June, i'ma have my golf tournament, so I'm
gonna beat over what we got three more games?

Speaker 7 (46:20):
You know.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
How you'd be like, wow. But I when I got
to the league, I didn't know no better. I was
just crazy and wow, Nate, you do golf? Give me?
I need you.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Hold on.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
We got too more. Man, look at him, man, them
folks folk coming to get my car next week.

Speaker 6 (46:38):
