Everything went wrong for the Cowboys in their loss to the Bears, especially on the defensive side of the ball. And the problems all start with the defensive line. Can they fix it? Will Jadeveon Clowney be the answer? Not that the offense gets a pass on this either. Would it have made a difference if CeeDee Lamb hadn’t been injured? Should he have been in the backfield to begin with? Let’s commiserate together.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Cowboys Poor way out of the backfield, explumbing down the sideline.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
He is Hanging with the Boys, presented by Wing Stuff
Where Flavor gets its Wings.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Now your hosts, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holly and
Shannon Gross It.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Monday. You're looking live but.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Tostitos Championship Plaza outside Ford Center at the Star Frisco, Texas.
We had some thunderstorms last night, cooling it off a
little bit. Eighty four degrees, the highest eighty nine, the
lowest seventy two.

Speaker 6 (01:00):
This Kurt two punts. It's a big fellaw Nate Newton,
that's the little fella. Shannon Groves shutting back is Chrispy
and keeping us live in local. I am something pepper
poppy as usual. Well together, we make Hanging with the
Boys the sports talk equivalent of brill. People fall in

(01:22):
the field when we speak.

Speaker 7 (01:26):
You never show about Wingstop where Favorite gets its wing.
We'll talk about that next week. We drop on Monday.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
We'll talk about it later in the week. We just
need to sit in this for a minute.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
So when we beat Green, Baby, Man, we'll be back up.
You know, things for to happen, man, Nate, Nate, Nate.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
I thought we were gonna do the asinine today.

Speaker 6 (01:48):
That's not right after the job. He's into it.

Speaker 8 (01:53):
I know it's only three games, but am I wrong?

Speaker 7 (01:56):
And I feel like it's two two close to twenty
twenty two to be bringing up historically bad defense.

Speaker 8 (02:05):
And I know it's only three games in, but it.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I don't see a fix for this thing.

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Im glad you said, I don't see a fix for this.
He's bringing notes. You got note, Jesse's got mark this down?
What is today?

Speaker 1 (02:19):
You said?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
What is today?

Speaker 7 (02:20):
The date brought notes the twenty second of November, Jess
for the first time ever.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
Is there anything on that, Baber.

Speaker 9 (02:27):
No, it is.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
It's just I grabbed the first pin that I saw
and I just started writing this thing invisibly. To your point,
this is trending as historically.

Speaker 7 (02:39):
Bad, and we just had a historically bad season five
years ago.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
We started off historically bad last year, and so I'm
going to compare historically to the first three games that
the Cowboys had last year to what the first three
games the Cowboys are having this year. Points in the
first three games for your Dallas Cowboy. Last year eighty
nine given up given up this year ninety two. Defensive

(03:12):
yards per play given up last year, six point one
this year six point four to eight touchdowns given up
last year. Defensively twelve this year eleven improvement, as Jerry
would say, you know, improvement three games. Defensive point differential

(03:36):
through three games last year the Cowboys were negative twelve points,
so getting beat by twelve points this year eighteen. Completion
percentage for quarterbacks to the first three games last year
sixty one point eight this year. Seventy three point nine

(04:02):
sacks last year through three games, seven this year. Four
interceptions last year through the first three games of the season.
Three for the Cowboys defense this year. One. Opposing passer
rating last year. Opposing opposing quarterbacks passer rating last year

(04:27):
eighty seven, this year one twenty five point three. Not
only is that higher than last year, it is the
highest in the first three games ever Cowboys history's history.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Did you do big plays?

Speaker 6 (04:46):
I didn't do big plays. Okay, yeah, it's got to be.

Speaker 9 (04:50):
I think we've giving up the most big play since
in like forty five years or something like that. Thirteen
I think you do.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
What is this another case of there's just so many
things wrong that there's not a fix because I felt
like that last year, or is this a is this
Are we finally to the point where it's like we
are just bad judges of talent on the defensive side
of the ball, Because.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Then you say we did you mean the organization.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Because you one guy can't make this big of a difference.
Would it look a lot different if you had that
one guy star?

Speaker 6 (05:30):
So yes, So historically when Michael was here through his
first four years, like by the numbers, when he was
on the field, you you had one of the best
defenses in the league. When he was off the field,
you had the worst defense in the league. So yes,

(05:52):
one player does matter that much.

Speaker 9 (05:56):
You could even say that they lost. There are four
top defenseman from last year when just Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence
was injured a bunch, but he was he was a
steady force. Jordan Lewis, who's having a great year.

Speaker 6 (06:08):
He was you like to have him in the slot
right now.

Speaker 9 (06:10):
He was the leader he was and then overshown he
was much exciting young player and he's out. So I
mean it's more than just Parsons. You took a defense
that struggled last year and got worse.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
M what are your thoughts?

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Nate uh Man? That was That was great from you
two guys.

Speaker 10 (06:30):
Man.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Can you can y'all repeat that so I don't have
to talk.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I've heard a lot of shows. I like to listen
to national, local. I like to listen. I get like you, Jess,
I like to listen to everybody, and.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
And I come.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I just keep coming up with the same opinion. I
thought this when the Raums left. I'm thinking it's now secondary. Yeah,
always said what you want, you can believe what you want.
But until you fix that front end, it's only gonna
get worse. They ain't gonna get better. Can It's all
about the defensive line?

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Can you fix it?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Though? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
I don't know who the defensive line coach name is.
I don't know what they're trying to prove.

Speaker 10 (07:17):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
I don't want to know his name, not right now, bro,
Thank you, Chris. But the bottom line is this right here.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That was Kirk. That was Kurt. Okay, thank you Kurt. Yeah.
That's just let you know.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I ain't trying to listen to nobody because I'm not
until you fix your defensive line where you at least
have pressure. People are go over sacks and pressure sack
is a is a finished product. A pressure moves a

(07:50):
guy off his spot, makes people real jest and no one.
As a quarterback that is played against US win lou
was a draw has had to make many adjustments and
so uh. That gives the receivers time to run around.
That gives time for for for your if you have

(08:14):
facing a running quarterback to decide whether he wants to
run or not because you don't have quick pressure or
you don't even have uh, slow development pressure.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
What I mean by that is when you when you're running.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
A three man game, three man stunt, you have a
delayed a blitz of dog. We're not doing it with
the four. We're not doing it. No one has shown up.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Ah.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
If you want to start fixing your secondary wolves, the
first thing you have to do is Jesse said, seven
sacks last year, four four this year, and you have
admitted funds to these guys. You have drafted guys. Now

(09:06):
it is time to be going to the fourth game.
It's a big game your home.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
The crowd is gonna be livid. Sunday night, it's gonna
be all in your favor.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Your defensive line has not shown up when it counted
the most.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
And to your point, Nate, Caleb Williams had twenty eight
dropbacks yesterday. They only accounted for seven pressures of the
twenty eight dropbacks. But when you look at the timing
of it, he had almost like three point six seconds
to pass. So even when they when they still get

(09:48):
close enough to get pressure, it's been three seconds. That
is a lifetime for a quarterback. Yes, And to your point, Nate,
about getting pressure getting sex, it always feels like and
I think you were the one that said this, it
always feels like the historical things happened to the Cowboys

(10:08):
the first time this ever in history, the first time,
this the first time, this the first time this well.
And Caleb Young, Caleb Young. Caleb Williams early career, he's
about what twenty games in, Caleb Williams has been sacked
in every single game at least one time.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Until yesterday, they had the worst left tackle in the
league according to them numbers that you like, They had
the worst left tackle last week.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
In the league. Now he's number one in the league.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
This week I'm gonna be honest with you, it doesn't
matter how bad you are at left tackle when the
guy that you're defending, don't say it, don't runs into
you and gives you a bear hug like I never
played offensive line, not a day of my life. I

(11:01):
like to believe because of my film study and then
the osmosis from being around great players and being in film,
being in meetings and hearing the scouts, listening to scouts,
listening to offer. If you're a left tackle and you

(11:21):
have to play against a dude and all he does
is run directly to you, you will think, whatever God
that you believe in, I'm going to get a game bomb.
And when you go back and you watch Donovan Azaraku,
who was a guy that we looked at training camp,

(11:41):
was like, man, this guy is a well polished dude.
Ain't got it not right now. Sam Williams a guy
who we were looking to take that next step right
He talked about it in the off season, about the
change that he made and off of field stuff and hey,

(12:02):
he was ready. It's it's time to get paid and
all that other kind of good stuff. Don't have it.
Dante Fowler, a guy who when he was here was productive,
went to the Washington Commanders, became a double digit SAT guy.
And I remember him he had a tweet out when
he couldn't get the market that he thought he was

(12:23):
he deserved in Washington, and he kind of had like
a little tweet that he had put out and feeling
some kind of way about it. Then the Cowboys brought
him here and you thought, all right, cool, this is
gonna be a guy that's gonna be in, you know,
another contributing piece. I don't know what's going on with him,
Like he just they're just running down the middle of

(12:46):
players like and they're not. It's again, it's one thing
if I if I dog walk you back, but they
just running and and it becomes the Waltz. They just come.
They just they just damned. And the attack was like,
if this is what you're gonna do all day, thank you.

(13:06):
If you ain't doing ripping and dipping and spinning and other,
thank you. And we've turned two of the worst offensive
lines and back to back weeks we've made them look
more than formidable. Dude, it is the theff do.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
That on these guys, man, just the guys.

Speaker 6 (13:29):
The giants. I saw my guy, I lead you wad
He read a stat on our show this morning. It
said for the first time another one of the first
time in NFL histories, it was a Russell Wilson. So
the first time in NFL history a player had uh
two hundred yards of passing offense and no touchdowns, followed

(13:52):
by having over four hundred yards and four touchdowns to
only go back to two hundred yards and no touchdown
in NFL history. That's right, that was Russell Wilson. He
was he was terrible.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
He was good and terrible.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
He met us terrible and it became good again and
went back to being terrible again. He just played cawboy
boy good, good and terrible. Yeah. Wandell Robinson and Maliite
neighbors had seventeen total receptions against the Cowboys. They had

(14:33):
to last night against the Chiefs. The Cowboys have given
up seven hundred and forty eight yards in the first
three games, seven hundred so I'm sorry in the last
two games seven hundred and forty eight yards seven touchdowns
to won interception. That's what that's the that's what this

(14:54):
defense has put out there. And poor Matt eva Flus,
there's nothing he can do. There's nothing you can't. This
is this is only and and and and. Shotty came
out last night and he said, maybe we have to
given get simple. Fly You cannot get more simple than

(15:14):
Cover two. I'm sorry, it's like Cover two.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Explain, explain, brother.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
Cover two. Your your your your two corners. They have flats.
They are covering everything in the flat from about five
to eight yards. Your two safeties that are on the hash,
they have from the hash over top of the cornerbacks.
Your linebackers, your will has hooked the curl on the

(15:41):
weak side, Your Sam has hooked the curl on the
strong side. Your mic biker has anything in the middle.
When you hear Tampa two, your mic backer, he now
has the middle of the field to the strong side.
This is elementary. Cover two is elementary cover force. Elementary.
Cover three is elementary.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
But the big thing that everybody keep forgetting to say
is them fold dudes up front got to get there.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
That's that's what the.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Help advantage of this zone supposed to do. Make the
quarterback take a split second longer right, yes, to read
these windows. And your defensive.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Line has to be at least close.

Speaker 9 (16:25):
Chicago's line ranked twenty fourth going into the game. Their
tackles are thirty eight out of seventy two and twenty
fifth out of seventy two, so the middle.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Of the road.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
They're left tackle with bad on film coming into this game.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
And my friend I saw I didn't training camp.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
We're seeing it here. If you do not fix your
defensive line, it every week for the next four or
five was until the by because it can get worse.
After the bye, it can't get worse. So this is
what we'll be saying.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
If your defensive line don't pick it up, that is
where it's gonna have to start. You know, Jesse is
technically sound, and what he's saying, Kurt, you can give
us the numbers me and you can sit over here
and crack jokes, but I promise you and to your
defensive line get fifty five percent better.

Speaker 10 (17:29):
Now.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I ain't saying sacks. I'm talking about putting real pressure
to move that quarterback around.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
If a quarterback has three seconds to throw in the pocket,
it's no good. You can have Dion out there, you go.
You got Dion on one side, the Roe Rievers on
the other side. You can have Ed Reid in the
back and yeah, you can have Darren Wilson in this line.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
You know what we're gonna We're gonna fix the defensive
line in the break.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
When we come back, we're gonna tell you how stay
ten hanging with the boys.

Speaker 1 (17:59):

Block chain we failed you.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
We can't fix this on this defensive line?

Speaker 8 (20:31):
What what?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
What?

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (20:34):
Look the positive?

Speaker 1 (20:36):
What can you do right now? It's I know the content.
Proper thing to say is coach Eva Flues and his.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Defensive line coaching, his linebackers and secondary coach. They got
to go back to the uh, to the to the
beginning of this thing and and work.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
No no, no, no no. If I'm I'm.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Gonna tell you when we started out our season Cowboy,
when we was three and whatever back then, and the
money couldn't save you, like the cap saving a lot
of guys. You know, I'm gonna know. I'm gonna gon
me and Jesse. If I'm the center, Jess is the
guard and he's the he's a guard. I'm gonna know

(21:23):
what these three dudes doing. But more importantly, they gonna
know what I'm doing because I'm gona letting them know. Hey, fuckers,
I'm gonna do my job, you know, if we got
a duce block, we gonna douce block.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Win.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Don't tell me that you gotta get off quick to
the linebacker. No, sir, we have a duke block. Stick
with what you're supposed to do, and then we'll go
to the next level. And that is what guys gotta do.
Guys gotta buckle down defensively. If I'm in this a
gap and I'm I'm the right defensive tackle and I'm

(21:54):
in this a gap, I got this a gap all
the way to the sideline, and that's where I'm gonna be. Understand, Jack,
That's where I'm gonna be.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
Jack.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Don't tap me and tell me to shoot somewhere. Jack,
I'm in this a gap. That's where I'm gonna be.
Whether it's a run, I'll pass, That's where I'm gonna be.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
What has me puzzled is and this is what you know.
These are some of the things when I had an
opportunity to shut down with Coach Schottenheimer and talk about
what what what you and your coaching staff says, what
I see with my own eyes and what's being produced

(22:38):
on the field. I was told by several people I
heard out of the mouth from several coaches in OTAs
in training camp how easy this defense was. Oh man,

(22:59):
this def it's just this is it right here? Like
I talk on the football field to marys lea foul
and he was raving about, Man, this is so much
simpler than what we had a year ago. You know,
we could just fly around and it's simple this and
then and that. He's like, man, he said for me, Man,
I even feel like I'm back at Notre Dame with

(23:19):
the how simple this is her All through training camp,
everybody love this defense. Oh man, so much more simple
that we flying around. We get to week three of
the season, now you're telling me we need to simplify it.
One of the things that and I don't know if
y'all picked up on this or not, baffled me, blew

(23:44):
my mind. Week three of the season. I look at
on the field and I see several players on the
defense with play calling wristbands on. Mozzie had one attached
to his belt, Sam Williams had one on his risk.
A couple of guys had play calls on risks like
the like offense has like the quarterback. Go back and watch.

(24:07):
There's several players out there that have play call sheets. Now,
if this was Jadeveon Clowney who just got here seven
days ago, I get it. New to the new, new
to the group may not quite know, understand, or have
a a grasp on what we're running here.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Get it.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
Say Welliam, you been here, wes see you. These guys
who have been here should know what's going on. If
we're still talking about communic what do you what do
we communicating? And we're still talking about communicating. If we're
still talking about guys don't know where to go Houston,

(24:54):
we have major problem. And you don't fix that. That
that's something that because now like Ebra Flues even gave
you in this game, because they hear everything. They coaches, players,

(25:14):
front office, they all hear. They all listen, they hear
this podcast. They I know for sure they read my
tweets I had. I had people pull me to the
side like man, you cold for show, and they showed
me a tweet them my like you cold for saying this. Man,
you you real man? You down bad for saying so
I know they're looking. I know they're listening. Ebra Flues

(25:40):
gave you a here man damn. You know the here
man damn is like yeah, man, damn like they hear
we argue that fussed about? Oh man, Eba flues. You
gotta get out of the zone. Gotta go, man. You
gotta add more gods to the line scrimers to get pressure.
Ebra Flu said hear man damn Like, Okay, watch here,

(26:00):
y'all want man, no problem, Diggs play man jam slips
and fall touchdown.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Me let me ask you this right here, even.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Flu blitch you got blitz Moore Cayler Williams on the
blitz in the game. Damn, they're perfect. M What do
you what the man to do? He's giving you the
best that he had in his own He's given you
here man, damn, man and man concepts. The only thing

(26:31):
you can do now, and this is this is a
very very very very slippery slope. Is when you start
taking out veterans and putting in younger players. Can't go
back to veterans. You once you go veteran to young
gotta ride it out. You got you gotta go. So

(26:51):
you gotta be very careful when you go and take
your veteran off the football field. For you know, guys
like people saying, oh, give me some Shamar James who's
not playing. Give me more Leis merrithiund I give me
maryus lea foul, give me one, yeah, or give me
Marquise Bell. You pull Hooker, you pull Wilson off, you
start pulling linebackers off. Ain't no going back unless it's

(27:14):
a major injury. There's no going back. You put young
players out there. You got to finish it out with
the young players. So we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Week three, give it a little bit more time.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
I'm just telling you, like, you might make a switch.
You might make the switch at the at the break.

Speaker 7 (27:28):
What a terrible spot to be in for a coach,
just going I don't have the players to do.

Speaker 8 (27:37):
What I needed, and and then you look bad. And
then it's like, Okay, do we build for the future, because.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
Well, they are praying to whatever God that they believe
it that your Davian Clowney got something.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Just from one side.

Speaker 6 (27:51):
Just get your saying out a push praying. They are praying.
And I told you guys last week, I didn't think
he was gonna be able to get to this game
this week, even if he plays against Green Bay whatever.
The thirty three year old Jadavion Clowney has left whatever
the whatever the top his optimum performance level, you won't

(28:12):
see for another two or three weeks. He ain't not
in shape, guys, he hasn't done anything in six months.

Speaker 8 (28:17):
But at this point, even him not being in shape,
isn't that better than what you got out there?

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Now?

Speaker 6 (28:22):
You hope you like them, hope.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
You just don't need him to pull something trying to
be it there that Wow Wow, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
On Jess wow you you they're praying that jadeveon because
even when you look around you either you either now
have to anybody that's left on the market is is
after market buys is an after market boss. So anybody
that you go sign off off the street isn't after markets.

Speaker 8 (28:49):
You bought your groceries, right, so it's at the market, bo.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
This is this is clearance track at this point in time.
It'll it'll work, it'll I mean, it'll be available, but
it's not or you have to go and make a
major trade. That's the only thing. If j Davion doesn't
give you what you what you need, it cooked.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
My thing is bos out for the rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
The thing that I tried to tell people simply this
right here is no where in the world if you
bought clown in here like I was sending people, man,
he'll stop, man to run, ain't I issue if this
dude can if this dude can't run, if this dude
can't stop, can't rush the passer the secondary it.

Speaker 8 (29:36):
You know, you know what's go drive me crazy?

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Though?

Speaker 6 (29:38):
Was that?

Speaker 7 (29:38):
Like your past defense is so bad nobody even wants
to try to run on you because that would we
do it?

Speaker 8 (29:45):
Now the run defense looks like, ah, we fixed the run.

Speaker 6 (29:48):
No, no, I need to you just ain't nobody Let
me direct you, Let me directge Let me direct you
to the play call sheet here in the third quarter
where nine where No.

Speaker 8 (30:03):
Eleven beat the eleven played when in nineteen played drive?

Speaker 6 (30:07):
Yeah, that took up ten minutes, nine minutes and fifty
seven fifty four seconds. That was seventy six yards.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Eleven of those were runs, is that right?

Speaker 6 (30:15):
Eleven eleven straight straight?

Speaker 8 (30:18):
How demoralizing is that?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
As you know what? We need to look up because
last week, what's we call it?

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Open the game with twelve minutes and thirty seconds the giants,
the Giants, Now we came this and they had how
many penalies?

Speaker 6 (30:33):
Four or five Penales on that d Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah, that's when I said when they did When the
Giants did that, I looked over at Church.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
I said, bro, we're not very good. He's like what
I said, Bro, we not very.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Good because the first thing Jesse did laugh when we
walked to him.

Speaker 6 (30:50):
Man, the Giants off the line.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
We're gonna beat the breaks.

Speaker 9 (30:56):
I mean, we're still winning the time of possession because
they give up all.

Speaker 8 (31:02):
All right, let's let's give the defense a rest.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Can Can I pose a comments that I want to have?
Yeah for Nate? Yeah, uh, because I watched a small
clip of Nate Barry Church, Kyle Yeomans, Yeah, and uh
what Isaiah Isaiah on the postgame show, and y'all had
some choice things to say about old shoddy and how

(31:27):
you didn't like his approach, not to the fourth, not
to that four, No, his approach in the postgame. Oh
that postgame pressure.

Speaker 8 (31:35):
Let's talk about that.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Let's yeah that one pretty.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
Let's give the defensive break and I mean, we're gonna
have to score what twenty seven thirty points plus to
be in any game this year?

Speaker 1 (31:45):
He said, He said at the beginning of the year.

Speaker 8 (31:47):
He said, at the beginning of the year talk about
that when we put up fourteen.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
That's so triggering against it. That's so triggering when I
say that, because the last time I said that in
twenty eighteen when it was true cost me my job.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
WHOA, Maybe we'll skip that. Maybe we just.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
I didn't see it.

Speaker 8 (34:59):
I watch the pregame, but I didn't watch the post game.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Are are are?

Speaker 1 (35:04):
How you say?

Speaker 6 (35:04):
Kurt Steam a Steam Steam a Steam colleague, Nathaniel Newton,
He does a masterful job. Emmy Award winning post game show.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Yeah, I never got an Emmy. All the other guys
get in. I did a show and then never get
the him. I'm like, wow, how do y'all got paid
two hundred dollars?

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Why you didn't call me? So I paid it? But anyway,
it's because the gu.

Speaker 6 (35:28):
On paid him to.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
I was walking around because I have took it and
crushed it. Bro y'all know, I'm not this type of
guy all the time. You can have M's dog because
all I got to do is just do this.

Speaker 6 (35:44):
Yeah that when you can dab with jewelry, Yeah, you
can do that with so three rings?

Speaker 7 (35:51):
What?

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Okay? Okay?

Speaker 6 (35:54):
He told me it's better. You know, you want to
watch the movie. In the movie, right, it's a difference
to me. That was you. That was that was good,
that was solid, that was fourth and long y, Yeah,
that was definitely fourth long.

Speaker 8 (36:09):
I finally got around to it.

Speaker 7 (36:10):
I'm only two episodes in, so I hadn't. I haven't
gotten to your your master masterpiece.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
You don't need. But just what were you talking about?

Speaker 6 (36:19):
So at the end of the game, of course, you
know the Cowboys losing and and you have your you
have your postgame press conference, and usually it's the head
coach uh that goes up there speaking. Shoty comes up there.
You know, it's Shody shot, he's gonna have that level
of honesty, but try to have that level of you know,
optimism still for his team. And I just so happened

(36:40):
to catch the end of their postgame show and when
they came back from Shody doing his presser, the guys
weren't impressed. They they were not impressed by the the
kind of as they called it, the whole hum of
just shot. He's just like, well, you know, we got
to get better. And it's just like there was no uh,
there's no I don't know if it's angry energy or

(37:03):
what type of energy, but you can elaborate what was what?

Speaker 9 (37:08):
What was what?

Speaker 6 (37:09):
A question was posted.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
The question was about this kid slipping, you know, dis
and he just yeah, that ain't the big issue.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
The big issue was this, And I mean, just how
the big issue is this?

Speaker 7 (37:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm saying to myself, hold on, coach,
you got millions of viewers, and I am a die
hard Cowboy fan, at least.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
Show a little bit of a concern. It is like
he had no concern and he was protect your players.
That's that's you know, it's fifteen more games of how
many games? But don't let the viewers feel like, you
don't you know, we'll get it right. Yeah, we understand
this three games, but he just was so nonchalant.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
And this is and a few times I spoke to him,
and a few times I've listened to him talk.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
He never came off it is like that.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
But I guess he wanted to show his players in
case they looked at this that hey, I'm.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Not worried, coach. You should be worried.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
You you should be worried because you had a walk
through last week to cover to give your guys some
rest early in a season, but also to cover all
the mistakes. It was just it was just too many things.

(38:41):
CD at running back. You said, you don't mind. I'm
not gonna raise them saying about the player of being
a player, but you running Remember they say you said
put him at running back?

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Was that that was with me? Okay, okay, I'm sorry.

Speaker 6 (38:56):
One else another black guy you do. No but somebody
you know you did me like Fosika.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, I'm not doing.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
CD going down and running back, taking the guy out,
taking our quarterback out with four minutes and eighteen seconds
left inside the eleven for six tries. Didn't even run
the ball. I mean it's just five yeah, inside the
five three times.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Did not run the ball. It was so many things
that went wrong.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
And you just don't want to see the Dallas cowboy
football coach.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
If you the Panther.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Football coach, fine, do what you do down there in Carolina,
but not here. And we defending the nation and you, hey, yeah, man,
that wasn't the big thing. This the first time I
ever said go they coach?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
For real?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Do you realize that this ain't just the average team?
You just don't blow us off like that?

Speaker 4 (39:58):
More fire since an urgency?

Speaker 1 (40:01):
Yeah, man, Like, man, hey, we played a bad game.
This thing was not right.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
We gotta get this going in the right direction. But
don't like Yeah, man, that one a bad thing. If
if the fumber one bad. If if it's losing CD,
ain't bad. If your quarterback gotta stow for eight hundred
yards a game, ain't bad. If you don't have a

(40:27):
defensive line, ain't bad. If you don't have a secondary,
ain't bad. And I understand you can't panic as a
coach and you have to convey that to your players,
but you still have a fan base that's.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
Looking at you bring this, you know you gotta do it.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
You got to do that a little different some You
know you need to go talk to Ted and say, hey, Ted,
I do I have when I go to this breath coming?

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Are you continuing to be yourself? But that losing you
can't missus.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Jones ain't gonna stand for it because sooner lady gonna say, hey, bro,
how you gonna present?

Speaker 1 (40:59):
This can't be?

Speaker 3 (41:00):
And That's just how it felt at that time. I'm
still about Shotty. I'm about his process. But you know
I got coaches that got players got improved, and our
coordinators got improved. Yes, sir, coach, you got improved, Ji
like Nate got improved. I ain't been asinine since the
Asinine nine.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Come on, man, we all got to get better, right,
You either get better? Are you stay the same?

Speaker 3 (41:25):
And if you stayed the same, the great coach Jimmis
John said, if you stayed the same, that means you.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Getting worse because everybody else is getting better.

Speaker 7 (41:33):
Since we're on coaching, probably the worst coach game, well,
definitely the worst coach game so far this season. Right,
questionable moves. Way you handle the end of the first quarter.
Why didn't Williams.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
Get the ball in the second half.

Speaker 7 (41:49):
Like a lot of things, Jesse from an offensive standpoint, coaching,
offensive production, like what jumped out to you?

Speaker 1 (41:58):
What's this was not a great game before you start.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
If you're not gonna leave Dack in the game, just
get a ball to Yvonte Williams. He averaged seven point
six a carry. If you're not gonna leave back in
the game, just continue to run that kid and continue
to get your offensive line better. Continue to help steal
because he's a play action pass guy. You know, take
take away the pressure from your left tackle, you know,

(42:24):
continue to run the ball.

Speaker 10 (42:26):
You know.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
That's so.

Speaker 6 (42:30):
This is at halftime. The score was twenty four to fourteen.
You're not out of it ten points down. You like
the way you kind of feel like you were. Your
offense is kind of come back from that. At halftime.
Davonte Williams had nine rushes for sixty seven yards. The

(42:52):
Cowboys got the ball at half. He was averaging four
point seven yards a carr with the long of twenty
two yards seven. So I'm sorry seven point four excuse me,
with the long of twenty two yards at half. Nine
carries sixty seven yards seven seven point four yards of carry.

Speaker 8 (43:14):
That's a pretty good average.

Speaker 6 (43:16):
Take a wild guess what he ended.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
The game with seven point six One more.

Speaker 6 (43:21):
Carry, one more carry. He carried the ball one time
in the second carry, ok for nine yards and it
bumped it up to seven point six.

Speaker 13 (43:32):
Yeah, Samer's got six carries like it's it's those type
of it is those type of moves, like I even
go to the CD lamb.

Speaker 6 (43:46):
Why would you like imagine your running back is averaging
seven yards of carry, I mean running behind his pads.
Everything is physical. I mean he is delivering, giving you
everything that you need. And as a play caller, imagine
being a play caller and my running back is giving

(44:06):
me seventy yards a carry, And I think to myself, hmm,
now it's a good time to take my all world
wide receiver and put him in the backfield and give
him a run play.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Why is that your example?

Speaker 4 (44:25):
You always talk about like trying to get too cute
just to get.

Speaker 6 (44:29):
Just to get cute, Like that's like taking Javonte Williams,
lining him up outside and having him run a double move.

Speaker 8 (44:38):
Why just to be just to confuse him when you
didn't need to confuse.

Speaker 6 (44:41):
It, Like don't waste that rat with Javonte. Let the
dude who's specifically supposed to be doing that do that,
and now you potentially may have lost potentially, I'll just
say that you may have potentially lost your star wide
receiver from anywhere from two to four, maybe even six weeks,

(45:07):
depending on what grade the ankle sprain.

Speaker 12 (45:09):
Is for what? For what.

Speaker 6 (45:15):
It's it's it's things that you you know and and
and you know that this offense is going to be
predicated on the passing game.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
He's the safety mover. He's the safety mover, bro like
Zeke used to be. He's the safety mover. Nobody else
moves to safety like this kid.

Speaker 6 (45:33):
And what you now set yourself up for. Remember before
you used to have CD and the and the Maybies.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Yeah right, the Jalens, the Jalens.

Speaker 6 (45:44):
But CD was so good at what he did, he
still gave you an opportunity. Now, I know a lot
of y'all didn't like when I said this in training camp,
and I still stand ten toned down on it. You
don't have two number one wide receivers. You have a
number one wide receiver who will be out with an
ankle injury. And now you have a number two in
George Pickens. Great addition, but your receiving corps is actually

(46:11):
worse now than it was a year ago because George
Pickens is not Ceedee Lamb. You don't move him around
like Ceede Lamb. He don't run routes like ceedee Lamb.
He's limited in what he can.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
Run confidently confidently.

Speaker 6 (46:31):
He is limited in what routes he can run confidently physically,
confidently physically.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Because he physically he ran the whole lot of things.

Speaker 6 (46:42):
But that spoke is there, but now you have to
go with him in that spot. And now turping and
tow bird and flooring nois all now bringing up the
rear to kind of.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
Move that up.

Speaker 6 (46:57):
And even when you went to your tight end, you
went to your tight end fourteen times for thirteen catches,
and he didn't have over one hundred yards. I'm not
gonna lie, and it's maybe I may be jumping out
the window, but it's okay.

Speaker 4 (47:13):
Won't be the first time or the last.

Speaker 6 (47:16):
You gave me forty one, you give me thirteen catches
right now, getting over a hundred yards at right now
to day, Oh head longs blew on.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Oh if I get.

Speaker 6 (47:26):
Thirteen catches today, I'm getting over one hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
You don't get there, you know.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
You know what I was saying during the game, right
when he had seven in a church with the cracking
jokes on, like.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
Man, get a hundred yard kid, a twenty yard catty.

Speaker 6 (47:44):
His longest catch is twelve yards, oh iving six yards
a catch?

Speaker 3 (47:51):
Come on, let me tell you so, Come on. That
is where if CD would have continued to play. And
that's and I know this ain't no guess he would
have got that hundred yards. Because they all they do
is shift the priorities once they wants a good defensive coordinator,

(48:11):
seize what's happening.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
Hey, dak ain't throwing nothing long fellas. All we gotta
do is come up in tap.

Speaker 6 (48:17):
That's and that's what they said. See these out. We're
gonna not let George Pickens get off. We'll take you
want to go to the tight end, be my guest,
and we kind up tap. You canna have six yards
to carry if you six yards of cats if you want.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
You know how you enough throwing darts, you know, and
once you get to an angle or space where you
feel good and you just keep hitting that target.

Speaker 6 (48:37):
See they understood how to run zone. Yeah, they understood that. Hey, guys,
nothing deeper than the deepest, right, we'll give it. We'll
give them everything in front. If he wants to throw
the ball six yards and he wants a six yard
his way, Nicol and Downald went down the field.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
So be it.

Speaker 6 (48:53):
Clock takes, we're up fourteen, we're upset, so be it.
We'll rally and tackle.

Speaker 1 (48:58):
We ain't give a week on tackle hard.

Speaker 6 (49:01):
So they just said hey. Then Dennis Allen said, this
is how you play z own, guys, and we'll give
We're not giving you pickings. We're not giving you him.
You know, we we messed up and gave you one
deep one to turping right.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
But they.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
But they said no, let me say this right quick.
Like when they hit turping on that sideline. I looked
over to a young lady, Nicole Hutcheson.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
We all know her.

Speaker 3 (49:31):
I say, Nicole, this hit right here, it's gonna stop
a whole lot of guys going down into that scene.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
Did you see another scene route, I'm like, boy, that
was that was old.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
School hit there, Brood, that was old school.

Speaker 7 (49:50):
Well, I'm not even gonna review the score picks this week.
Or Jesse's staff to follow because nothing came to fruition.
Nobody had the Cowboys losing, and boy did they lose.

Speaker 4 (50:02):
Tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
Dak keeps laying it, Dak keep we need.

Speaker 7 (50:06):
Thirty plus thirty plus a game. Call us tomorrow. We
want to know how y'all feel.

Speaker 4 (50:13):
Is the season over?

Speaker 1 (50:14):
D Lime, baby?

Speaker 4 (50:16):
Is the season over? Three games in?

Speaker 1 (50:18):
D Lin Baby? All right?

Speaker 8 (50:20):
Call us D line, Jesse, good stuff. We'll be in
a better mood tomorrow, D Line Baby. Kurt, good seeing you, Nate,
good seeing you, Chris. Let's go line, Josh, thanks for
keeping them company. With me back tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (50:30):
Hanging with the Boys, D Line.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
