talented group. Some young guys in there have some hope

been in the meeting rooms, seeing talent, there's I don't

didn't understand, then did you not say anything? You went
through an entire week of practice, the entire week of practice.
That means pre practice meetings, post practice meetings, on the
field practice. So where is the disconnect? Like that's on players?

better scheme and better players running the right the more
correct scheme. But when I see a lot of this stuff, man,
I go like, especially I went over this the other day,
just the communication thing.

really just bugging me for a while. After each loss

calls were, and I'm just wondering, don't the coaching staff
have people like you who start, say, one game, you
said that they stopped to run and Dickens was open
all the time, and you wondered why they didn't go
to him more than what they did on that game,
and we lost that game, And it's just mind boggling.

I'm just, you know, wondering, do the coaches have consultants
sit with them, Do we're in the game and watch
things and give them the you know, a comment to
change these plays or not? The other thing I want
to I'm glad that I'm a Cowboys fan, and I

fan and give this coaching staff the chance to really
survive the first season, because they're all dealing with something
that they got from what Jerry Jones put together. So

control people that they have who monitor the passes, the
runs and all that kind of stuff that they've done,

it's sometimes tough to be the head coach and the
OC or the head coach and the DC because you're

not just focused on that position.

When you're the head coach, you're focused.

On time management, timeouts, the vibe of the offense and
the defense, down and distance, special teams. You know, Jim
Auer comes up to you and he says, hey, this
player is out, and you're like, damn, I gotta make
an adjustment, you know. Or and then sometimes you get
into a game and there's wrinkles in a game. So
you know that that's why you know when you're when
(21:29):
you're when you're the head coach and the play caller
is a little bit more added to that plate. And
uh and and why it's good to have a veteran
quarterback like Dak Prescott because sometimes you may make a
call and send a call in to the quarterback and
he can he can know the play that you called in,
break the huddle, get to the line of scrimmage and go, yeah,
that's not gonna work, and then be able to give
(21:51):
a solution to put you in a better play for
that particular for that particular time. But I believe that
play calling it's a rhythm. There's a rhythm to that,
especially offensive play calling. You know, you all hear about
the teams first fifteen and how they play off that.
Usually when you get to your first fifteen, you kind
of bank some of those away. You kind of go, Okay,
(22:11):
this one worked, I'll put that one into that slot
of we may bring back this out and you're setting
players up to happen later on in the game, right,
and so like I will run a play in the
first quarter to see what kind of look that I
may get or how I can set it up. But
then if things don't go right, it makes no sense
to me to go forward in the third quarter. So
that's the player that scratched off the total. It came
in this week, but because how things played out, that
(22:33):
ain't gonna work no more, so.

I scratch it. So there was a there was a chemistry.

There's a rhythm to offensive play calling, and sometimes he
gets in it, and sometimes you just have those games
where you don't.

He may be like, we got nothing, and then now
it's hey, easy, easy, easy, easy, you start changing stuff.

to that year ten, eleven, twelve, you've seen so much
football and you're so in control, and like Nate, Nate

always talks about when you get a chance to go
to training camp and you're and you're watching players right
and you and you're looking at him and you're seeing
them and you're not just seeing him in the performative state.
You get to see him walking and talking, moving around
in pre practice stuff like that. And I was standing
near the quarterbacks and they were warming up one day

in training camp and a guy was standing on the
fence on the on the on the VIP side, and
he had a jersey on and he had his name
on or something like that, and he was kind of
yelling back and forth for Dak and was saying like,
you know, hey, like Dak, you know, will he beam
into something like that? Like man, put me in now,
I'm ready to go. And Dak looked over to do
and he was like, in very colorful words, he said,

ain't no room for no more quarterbacks. This is my
sh and I was like, but to most people, you
hear that and you go, oh, that's just a But
I was like, okay, that that the level of confidence.

To me, it just it exudes different level of confidence.

And then I watched him at practice and I watched
the way that they threw the ball, and then I
kind of was piecing together, Okay, black man, when they
get this combination going in, that combinate online. That's why
when I came back in and from training camp, I
was like, hey, y'all, that's gonna have the best statistical
year he's ever.

Had in his career.

And I went on and I just, you know, abloviated
about all of what I thought Dak Prescott was gonna be.
And you're seeing him work and the offensive line has
not been good. They've been injured, they've been in and out,
they've they've had one of the highest combination of offensive
lines starters in the league. They're up there, and uh,

just to watch him maneuver and work in the pocket,
to watch his command the line of scrimmage and for
him the way he's playing right now.

And remember I wasn't always a big, huge Dak believer.

durable enough? That's why you take him out and stretches
and give other guys a chance. This guy has shown
you he is a running back. He is nothing that
he is a running back. He can block, he can
catch passes out of the backfield, he can run, He

got a feel for the offense. And giving him the
ball less than twenty times is not right. This kid
has been a treat he can be a trick for
anybody else that's trying to tackle him, but he is
a treating.

You I've never seen this coach. You said, you're gonna
run the ball. We were in the game in the

It helps the interior line. I'm telling you, it helps
them because we are facing teams that are always trying
to earn the right to rush the pass. And we

to run the ball in order to save our defense

Dak to deal to get that ball out to the
two outside guys, you gotta have them line.

in Jefferson and whoever else in Minnesota Detroit?

what it is, just player for players. There's not a
talented group. Some young guys in there have some hope

been in the meeting rooms, seeing talent, there's I don't

and I go, but you're not in the right gap,
app or you didn't know that you had him in

I say playbook when they get I passed now, But

didn't understand, then did you not say anything? You went
through an entire week of practice, the entire week of practice.
That means pre practice meetings, post practice meetings, on the
field practice. So where is the disconnect? Like that's on players?

correct scheme. But when I see a lot of this stuff, man,
I go like, especially I went over this the other day,
just the communication thing.

since he started that. I have I have a question
really just bugging me for a while. After each loss
or you guys Nate and Jesse start criticizing what the

calls were, and I'm just wondering, don't the coaching staff
have people like you who start, say, one game, you
said that they stopped to run and Dickens was open
all the time, and you wondered why they didn't go
to him more than what they did on that game,
and we lost that game, And it's just mind boggling.

I'm just, you know, wondering, do the coaches have consultants
sit with them, Do we're in the game and watch
things and give them the you know, a comment to
change these plays or not? The other thing I want
to I'm glad that I'm a Cowboys fan, and I

fan and give this coaching staff the chance to really
survive the first season, because they're all dealing with something
that they got from what Jerry Jones put together. So

runs and all that kind of stuff that they've done,

it's sometimes tough to be the head coach and the
OC or the head coach and the DC because you're

not just focused on that position.

When you're the head coach, you're focused.

On time management, timeouts, the vibe of the offense and
the defense, down and distance, special teams. You know, Jim
Auer comes up to you and he says, hey, this
player is out, and you're like, damn, I gotta make
an adjustment, you know. Or and then sometimes you get
into a game and there's wrinkles in a game. So
you know that that's why you know when you're when
(21:29):
you're when you're the head coach and the play caller
is a little bit more added to that plate. And
uh and and why it's good to have a veteran
quarterback like Dak Prescott because sometimes you may make a
call and send a call in to the quarterback and
he can he can know the play that you called in,
break the huddle, get to the line of scrimmage and go, yeah,
that's not gonna work, and then be able to give
(21:51):
a solution to put you in a better play for
that particular for that particular time. But I believe that
play calling it's a rhythm. There's a rhythm to that,
especially offensive play calling. You know, you all hear about
the teams first fifteen and how they play off that.
Usually when you get to your first fifteen, you kind
of bank some of those away. You kind of go, Okay,
(22:11):
this one worked, I'll put that one into that slot
of we may bring back this out and you're setting
players up to happen later on in the game, right,
and so like I will run a play in the
first quarter to see what kind of look that I
may get or how I can set it up. But
then if things don't go right, it makes no sense
to me to go forward in the third quarter. So
that's the player that scratched off the total. It came
in this week, but because how things played out, that
(22:33):
ain't gonna work no more, so.

I scratch it. So there was a there was a chemistry.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
There's a rhythm to offensive play calling, and sometimes he
gets in it, and sometimes you just have those games
where you don't.

There's a quarterback ever, because usually they give him two
plays right.

Or no no, no, no, no no. Some players you just
get one. Sometimes you get when he's changing.

He can change it to whatever you.

Yeah, sometimes you'll come in and they'll have a run
pass kill or a pass run kill.

Well, they'll give him two plays and they go like,
this is the look we're going with this play. But
if they're going to this coverage, we're killing it. We're
going to this run. Right, It's like these plays right here.
But sometimes you just get in there and say, hey,
it's who we got. You give them the play. They
break the huddle. Now they get to a lot of scrims.

the maturity and the maturation of who he's become as
a quarterback. And a lot of times when you get
to that year ten, eleven, twelve, you've seen so much
football and you're so in control, and like Nate, Nate

always talks about when you get a chance to go
to training camp and you're and you're watching players right
and you and you're looking at him and you're seeing
them and you're not just seeing him in the performative state.
You get to see him walking and talking, moving around
in pre practice stuff like that. And I was standing
near the quarterbacks and they were warming up one day

in training camp and a guy was standing on the
fence on the on the on the VIP side, and
he had a jersey on and he had his name
on or something like that, and he was kind of
yelling back and forth for Dak and was saying like,
you know, hey, like Dak, you know, will he beam
into something like that? Like man, put me in now,
I'm ready to go. And Dak looked over to do
and he was like, in very colorful words, he said,

ain't no room for no more quarterbacks. This is my
sh and I was like, but to most people, you
hear that and you go, oh, that's just a But
I was like, okay, that that the level of confidence.

To me, it just it exudes different level of confidence.

And then I watched him at practice and I watched
the way that they threw the ball, and then I
kind of was piecing together, Okay, black man, when they
get this combination going in, that combinate online. That's why
when I came back in and from training camp, I
was like, hey, y'all, that's gonna have the best statistical
year he's ever.

Had in his career.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
And I went on and I just, you know, abloviated
about all of what I thought Dak Prescott was gonna be.
And you're seeing him work and the offensive line has
not been good. They've been injured, they've been in and out,
they've they've had one of the highest combination of offensive
lines starters in the league. They're up there, and uh,

just to watch him maneuver and work in the pocket,
to watch his command the line of scrimmage and for
him the way he's playing right now.

And remember I wasn't always a big, huge Dak believer.

Yeah I couldn't never say that because I didn't have
the knowledge you had as a court, you know, But.

ASTs coach and say, hey, coach, is this guy not
durable enough? That's why you take him out and stretches
and give other guys a chance. This guy has shown
you he is a running back. He is nothing that
he is a running back. He can block, he can
catch passes out of the backfield, he can run, He

got a feel for the offense. And giving him the
ball less than twenty times is not right. This kid
has been a treat he can be a trick for
anybody else that's trying to tackle him, but he is
a treating.

You I've never seen this coach. You said, you're gonna
run the ball. We were in the game in the

Give him the ball because it helps steal, it helps guiding,

It helps the interior line. I'm telling you, it helps
them because we are facing teams that are always trying
to earn the right to rush the pass. And we
ain't the only one around here crying for a defensive vent.
Every team crying for a defensive n So we have
to run the ball in order to save our defense

second and to save Dak first. Because for order for
Dak to deal to get that ball out to the
two outside guys, you gotta have them line.

next two to three years. With Dak the way he
is throwing the ball, this offensive line intact, because it's
really special. There's only maybe two other teams out there
that I think this is the best wide receiver due

and Higgins and then you got what who is it
in Jefferson and whoever else in Minnesota Detroit?

But I mean these guys are right there with them,
and and and just to see pickings, especially when CD
was out, see him step up and play the way
