I’m re-releasing this important episode with the one and only Dr. Nicole LePera aka as the Holistic Psychologist. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr. Nicole often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy. Wanting more for her patients—and for herself—she began a journey to develop a united philosophy of mental, physical, and spiritual health that equips people with the tools necessary to heal themselves. Nothing short of a paradigm shift, Dr. Nicole LePera’s teachings empower the individual to break free from trauma cycles and create who they want to become.
The new science on depression is fascinating. We’ve seen a link between mental health and inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, gut issues. In the future, I believe we will treat depression as a psychoneuroimmunology disorder, not as a chemical imbalance in the brain. Psychoneuroimmunology is a fancy word for the interaction between the nervous systems, immune systems, and the brain.
