De NAVO-top zit er weer op. Met Donald Trump als grote aanwezige en een 'slijmende' Rutte was er genoeg voor de media om op terug te blikken. "De Amerikanen zijn heel bombastisch en Rutte heeft het afgestemd in zijn taalgebruik", reageert programmamaker Özcan Akyol. "Rutte kan aalglad zijn en dat heeft hij de afgelopen dagen gedaan. Het is zo schaamteloos", aldus columnist Roos Schlikker. "Het is heel ongemakkelijk." Journalist Sjirk Kuijper begrijpt Rutte wel en meent dat de oud-premier zich "dienstbaar" opstelt als secretaris-generaal van de NAVO, in tegenstelling tot de huidige premier Schoof. Ook de selfie van Wilders en Trump kon rekenen op veel verslaggeving, mede omdat de Amerikaanse president vertelde dat hij de PVV-leider helemaal niet kent.
