Op het Sovjet Ereveld in Leusden liggen 865 gesneuvelde Sovjet-soldaten. Decennia lang waren de soldaten identiteitsloos; de familie verkeerde in onwetendheid over hun lot. Totdat een jonge journalist zich het lot van de vergeten Sovjet-soldaten aantrok: gedurende 26 jaar identificeerde Remco Reiding zo’n 250 soldaten. Het bracht hem naar talloze families, verspreid over de voormalige Sovjet-Unie, waar hij werd hij ontvangen als een verloren zoon.
