LinkedIn has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a static resume repository into a dynamic platform where home care professionals can build personal brands, forge meaningful connections, and generate qualified leads.

As Valerie Van Booven explains, "LinkedIn today is like that high school nerd who hit the gym, got a stylist, and now runs a startup." This evolution presents incredible opportunities for home care agency owners and marketers who understand how to leverage the platform effectively.

The most powerful strategy on LinkedIn today is storytelling over selling. Rather than posting generic service descriptions, successful agencies share client success stories, behind-the-scenes glimpses of agency operations, and practical wisdom from years in the trenches. Video content performs exceptionally well, even when shot simply on a smartphone. As Valerie emphasizes, "You don't need fancy gear, you just need that phone in your hand."

Building both your personal profile and company page is essential, but your personal brand should take priority. "People want to do business with your face, not your logo," Valerie notes. Your profile should clearly state what you do, who you help, and which organization you represent—going beyond just listing your title as "owner" or "community liaison."

The platform offers powerful search capabilities for connecting strategically with referral partners. You can locate healthcare professionals at specific facilities, engage with their content before reaching out, and gradually build relationships that lead to referrals. Consistency is key—posting 2-3 times weekly within your niche of senior care, commenting on others' professional milestones, and sharing valuable insights positions you as a trusted expert.

Ready to transform your LinkedIn presence? Start by enhancing your profile, creating a content calendar that includes stories and video, and connecting strategically with referral sources in your area. The leads and relationships you build might surprise you!

So if you have questions as Iroll through this, just put them
in the chat there and I willanswer your questions.
All right, let's see.

(02:52):
Okay agenda, okay, freegiveaway.
So I should start with this, even though you ladies know more
about this.
One attendee will receive a setof customized May leave-behinds
with their logos, colors, colors and contact information.
You must attend to be eligible.
Are we doing that right now?

Speaker 2 (03:12):
what does that mean?
Yes, yes, they need to.
Yes in the chat.
Okay, but they have to promise.
Go ahead, valerie, you knowwhat they have to promise.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Okay, so we will give away a set of customized leave
behinds for may.
You have to promise Okay, so wewill give away a set of
customized leave-behinds for May.
You have to promise, and you'regoing to see this in the
presentation.
You're going to see what ourlast winner did.
You have to take pictures.
You have to promise to do it.
Go out there, be out there andhave some cutesy stuff put

(03:40):
together to serve your communitywith.
So you have to promise to dothat and take pictures, and
we're going to show you whatthat looks like.
So if you want to be on thelist to have your name drawn to
receive those customizedleave-behinds, put a yes in the
chat.
Lisa will draw a name and wewill notify you that you're the

(04:02):
winner.
All right.
So the agenda today what'sdifferent about LinkedIn?
Linkedin was kind of meh for awhile, but it's not anymore.
What should you be doing now?
Does LinkedIn create leads orreferrals?
Simple updates to your profileand business page that you
should make now.
Final thoughts on getting themost out of LinkedIn.

(04:26):
Secret tips and tricks and boy,do I have one for you.
And April through June leavebehinds.
Maybe we still do March, butLisa's going to do April through
June, leave behinds, and wemoved something to the very end.
We are going to talk about howto see all the previous meetings
that we've had, how to watchthe replays.

(04:46):
We're going to we move that tothe end now because I think,
especially podcast wise peoplejust want to get to it and we're
not repeating ourselvesendlessly about that.
So we'll still talk about it,all right.
So LinkedIn, linkedin today islike that high school nerd who
hit the gym, got a stylist andnow runs a startup.

(05:08):
Here's how it's changed overthe last three to four years.
So LinkedIn was meh.
Microsoft bought it and it wenteven more meh.
I think Microsoft maybe stillowns it, but it's had what my
kids would say, a glow up.
We're gonna look at what'shappened, all right.

(05:28):
What's different about LinkedIn?
More content, less resume vibes.
So when in the beginning, inthe dark ages, when I was on
LinkedIn a million years ago, itwas mostly resumes, job
postings and humble brags.
You know what a humble brag is?
I don't know.
I guess I probably humble bragonce in a while.

(05:49):
Now people are posting like it'sFacebook meets, ted Talk,
personal stories, thoughtleadership, memes, hot takes
that's the new normal.
I will say that it is not likeFacebook in that we don't want
to see pictures of yourgrandchildren or your unless
it's like an achievement, likeonce in a while I'll post my
kids if they're doing somethingthat's a really cool achievement

(06:13):
, like graduating from highschool or some kind of honor or
something.
But for the most part, it's notall about family stuff.
It's not about funny memes asmuch as it is business.
Family stuff.
It's not about funny memes asmuch as it is business.
But personal stories, thoughtleadership, appropriate memes
and hot takes are the new normal.
The translation is you can goviral talking about your dog and

(06:35):
your Q1 KPIs, if you can wishthat all together.
So, especially if you have adog, that's an office dog.
That would be awesome.
All right, let's keep going.
Video and creator tools tookover.
Please hear me on this.
Video is where it's at.
It's not just on LinkedIn, it'son everything.

(06:55):
If you haven't gotten intocreating videos, there's so much
you can do Even without yourface in the video.
It's just a matter of gettingused to it and doing it.
That little phone you have inyour hand is all you need to
create videos.
Back then, text posts ruled anduploading a video was like

(07:16):
sending a fax, and that's true.
It took forever to get a videoto load and now native video
carousels, live streams andcreator mode make it easier to
build a following.
So the more that the successfulhome care agencies I see out
there are posting videos oftheir community outreach efforts
.
They're talking to otherprofessionals, they are honoring

(07:41):
their caregivers and they'redoing a little short video about
.
It Doesn't have to be long.
You don't have to be look likea million bucks.
It can be natural.
You can be a B2B influencerwithout even wearing pants.
Just aim the webcam highAnytime you go on video and talk
right to the camera.
That is absolutely a plus foryou.

(08:04):
That is absolutely a plus foryou.
People are going to watch yourface on that camera talking
about either the victoriesyou've had this week in home
care or maybe some of the not sogreat moments you've had that
you want to share with othersthat might be in the same boat
you're in.
The more wisdom you put outthere on video, the more people

(08:25):
will take notice.
Okay, networking is better thanresume stalking.
So back then it was so muchmore about finding a job or
finding that next amazing job.
Back then we would connect waitfor a recruiter.
Repeat, I don't know that Iever did that, but I did get a

(08:45):
lot of job people inquiring if Iwas interested in some kind of
job.
On LinkedIn.
That's pretty much stopped.
You can do recruiting onLinkedIn, of course, and with
paid posts and stuff like that, but now engaging with posts and
building a personal brand equalsinbound leads for jobs, clients

(09:05):
and partnerships.
So people will say to me shouldI post this on my company page
or should I post this on mypersonal page?
And my reaction to that is or?
My answer to that is onLinkedIn, nothing should be
personal, it's all business.
So your personal profile onthat profile you should be the

(09:31):
cheerleader for whateverbusiness you're working for or
for whatever business you own.
You are a cheerleader for thatbusiness.
People want to do business withyour face.
They want to know who you areas the owner.
Yes, it's important to makesure your company page also is
recognized, and it's recognizedthat you're part of that company

(09:53):
.
We'll talk about that in aminute.
But making sure that you arebuilding a personal brand If
you're not the owner of thebusiness that you work for,
making sure you max out yourLinkedIn profile is even more
important because you want tobuild your personal brand and
you want to shine on LinkedIn,but right now, whatever company

(10:13):
you work for, you should betheir cheerleader on your
personal which is really yourprofessional profile and on
their Facebook business page.
So both the DM slide is live andwell, but it's usually work
flirty.
That doesn't make any sense tome.
What really happens here isthat I get a lot of spam coming

(10:34):
into my emails.
Do you guys get a lot of spam?
I bet you do, yeah.
So once in a while, though, Iwill get someone who is reaching
out to me to try and figure outhow to get a hold of us or
about our services, which isperfect, or they just want to
say hi, and that's OK too, butwe do get a lot of spam.
So I don't take I only take incommunication with LinkedIn

(11:00):
person, whatever DMs or whatever.
I only take that seriously whenI know the person and we're
trying to get off of LinkedInand get into email, and it
happens a lot.
But I will say that I do get alot of spam there, so I don't
rely on it for communication allthe time.
The algorithm is spicier todaythan it used to be Back then
engagement felt like crickets ina library, and that is the

(11:22):
truth.
Nobody liked anything, nobodyreposted anything, nobody
commented on anything.
It was like you're just postingto the wall.
But today you need to beconsistent.
You are in a niche.
You're in the niche of homecare, of health care, of home
health care, of non-medical homecare.
You're in senior care.
This is your niche.

(11:42):
You want to stay in that nicheand you want to post consistency
.
You want to post withconsistency and you also want to
comment, repost, help otherpeople with their engagement as
well and in turn they will helpyou.
Especially, commenting is areally good way.
I find that one of the easiestways for me to connect with

(12:06):
someone is you know how.
I don't know if you guys seethis, but somebody will say
there'll be a post that goes upI don't know if it's automatic
that says I'm celebrating my oneyear anniversary.
At whatever home care agency orwhatever place they work, I
will almost always saycongratulations, mary, or

(12:26):
whatever it is, not because Iknow Mary or because I don't
have no idea who Mary is, but ifit's in my niche, I'm going to
congratulate her for making it ayear in home care, in, whatever
role she's in, or 10 years orfive years, because she might be
someone I want to know, andthose come up on my feed all the

(12:47):
time.
So I'm always congratulatingpeople on their work,
accomplishments and I highlyrecommend that you do that too
as you're scrolling through.
Just compliment them.
Even a mildly hot, even a mildlyhot take can blow up if it
sparks conversation.
Don't be too spicy.
This isn't Twitter.
If you're doing a hot take, which means just something
you've observed, somethingthat's happened, just be

(13:09):
professional about it.
We don't want to go the way ofthe Twitter or the X, where we
can just talk about anything andbe crass or weird.
Still keep it professional.
You can be funny, engaging.
We all know what business we'rein and we all know what is a
little bit too over the top.
So just keep it a little spicyand fun, but not over the top.

(13:31):
All right, ai, automation andsales tools.
Back then, cold outreach wasmostly manual and awkward.
Yes, you would reach out topeople and try to connect with
them, and it was awkward.
Now there are AI tools andChrome extensions that are
making outreach slick but alsonoisier.
So I get a lot of friendrequests and they may not be

(13:55):
really.
We don't call them friendrequests on LinkedIn, maybe
connection requests, and it usedto be cause you'll see.
If you look at my profile, you'll see I have 15,000
connections or something.
I would accept everybody'sconnection requests a long time
ago.
Now I'm picky.
I don't need to know who you are, but if you're in another

(14:18):
country selling I don't knowZippy tools or something weird
like that, I am not going toconnect with you because I don't
want to hear your pitch.
I don't want to know what youhave to say.
I don't want to know anythingabout you.
If you're trying to reach outto me because you want to help
my agency have better numbers orget more leads, I'm not going

(14:40):
to connect with you because Igot that covered, buddy.
I'm not going to connect withyou because I got that covered,
buddy.
But if you reach out to mebecause you own a home care
agency or you market a home careagency or you're in the home
care business and you want me tofollow your company's page and
maybe connect with you, absolutely I will do that.
I will absolutely do that.
I don't have to know youpersonally.
I want to follow as many peopleas I can and I want to connect

(15:03):
with as many people in thisniche that I can.
All right, standing out takescreativity or actual effort.
It does.
Actually reaching out to people.
There's a whole list, maybe onyour dashboard or I don't know.
We'll go to mine, live and lookat it.
There's a whole section thattells me here's some people you
might want to connect with, andI go through and pick and choose

(15:26):
people and I look at what theydo for a living and I'm going to
show you why it's importantthat you put what you do for a
living in your bio and if I cantell what they do for a living,
I might connect with thembecause they might be somebody
who's important to me down theroad.
And not everybody accepts myconnection requests, but most do
, because we're all in the samebag.
Do we have any questions?

(15:46):
No Good, okay, thoughtleadership.
Thought leadership is the newSEO.
Back then, blogging on Medium orcompany websites was important,
but now posting regularly onLinkedIn is how people show off
their expertise and attractbusiness.
Posting regularly on LinkedInis how people show off their
expertise and attract business.

(16:06):
Okay, your translation.
Your one three lessons Ilearned scaling.
My agency post your one, threelessons I learned.
Scaling my agency post awayfrom blowing up.
Okay, so you can put really longposts on LinkedIn.
You can have them written.
You can write them.
You can have them written.
You can write them.
You can have AI write them.

(16:27):
Be careful Everybody's startingto know when something sounds
corndog because it was writtenby AI, but I'm going to show you
how to fix that.
But if you have some reallygood thoughts about how you
scaled your agency or how youovercame a critical staffing
crisis, people want to knowabout that and you can make a

(16:49):
really long post about somethinglike that on LinkedIn.
The other thing you can do isstart a newsletter and you can
post that newsletter everysingle day.
You could have a long postabout some topic every day, and
what's great about that this isone of my secret tips and tricks

(17:09):
is that all the people that youcan invite people to subscribe
to your newsletter and all thepeople that subscribe are going
to get that newsletter.
Whether it's one article or 10articles in the newsletter,
they're going to get that.
When you hit publish, they'renot only going to see it in
their feed, but they're alsogoing to get it via email and
LinkedIn emails do not go tospam.

(17:31):
So if what we do, what I do, isif we have a weekly newsletter
that goes out, so I put theweekly newsletter out from our
email to our email list and thenI copy and paste that same
email into my newsletter onLinkedIn and send it out.
That way and it gets a ton ofattraction and readership.

(17:52):
That way.
Long post will make it.
They will get attention.
More real talk, less corporatespeak.
So buzzwords like synergy andpivot ruled back then.
Pivot Now.
Authenticity wins, even in B2B.
Personality is profitable andwe talked about this earlier

(18:13):
with video.
It's okay to be human.
In fact it's expected.
I don't know how many of youare TikTokers or have looked at
TikTok, but the people who arethe most normal on TikTok with
they don't have to have filters, they don't have to have their
hair fixed.
They're just talking to youabout an issue they had today,
or how their husband's drivingthem crazy, or how their work is

(18:37):
driving them crazy, or whateverit is.
Those people who resonate withyou are just being real and I
would say, with a touch ofprofessionalism it's okay to be
human and it's okay to say I hada really bad day today or I had
a really great day today and Iwant to tell you how we got here

(19:00):
, because it wasn't always greatevery day.
Just share with people what'sgoing on in your work life and
you will have a following in notime at all.
People love that.
All right, let's move on.
What should you be doing now?
So here we go Stop selling andstart storytelling.

(19:20):
Okay, so a lot of our poststhat we still see today say we
provide compassionate care toseniors.
Call us today.
The new way to do that is meetMr Thompson.
After a fall, his daughter wasoverwhelmed and here's how we
helped.
So you're storytelling insteadof saying here's what we do and
why it works.
Stories humanize your brain, showcase your results and stop

(19:42):
the scroll.
So here is the number one thingyou should be doing Stop
selling, start storytelling andif you need help with that, I
need everybody here to startunderstanding what AI is and how
it can help you tell a story.
If you just put in a few bulletpoints about what happened to

(20:03):
Mr Thompson and maybe change hisname, an AI, a good AI like
ChatGPT will write the story foryou if you ask it to.
You don't have to struggle withall this All right.
So start storytelling.
Build a personal brand.
Yes, you, owner or marketer, don't hide behind the logo.

(20:24):
I've said this for years Do nothide behind your website.
Don't hide behind your logo.
People trust people andespecially in this business.
They don't want to do businesswith your logo.
They want to do business withyou and your face.
Be part of this organization.
The most successful home careagencies we see out there with

(20:44):
their social media are folks whohave pictures of their real
staff, their real team doinggreat things.
You, your people, even if it'sjust somebody answering the
phone, get those people outthere.
Show people how your officeworks.
Share behind the sceneschallenges, lessons and real
talk from the trenches.
Think three things I've learnedfrom marketing home care for 10

(21:07):
years, or why caregivers, ghostinterviews and what we did to
fix it.
Those are just two titles thatyou could use and write a little
post about them.
Maybe make a video about it andjust talk about it.
So don't hide behind the logo.
Use creator mode and post atleast weekly.

(21:27):
You can turn on creator mode onLinkedIn and you can showcase.
I just put a few examples here.
Topics like home care marketing, senior care solutions,
caregiver recruitment.
Post two to three times perweek.
That would be my recommendation.
Two to three times per week, one story, one tip or resource
and one conversation starter.
A goldmine idea what's the onething you wish families

(21:50):
understood about aging at home?
What is the one thing that youwish families understood about
aging at home?
You can ask that question.
You can also have your ownpersonal answer to that.
You can also have your ownpersonal answer to that.
No-transcript.
Thought leadership equals leadgeneration.

(22:14):
So how do you get leads andreferrals?
Instead of DM me for aconsultation, do a quick case
study five things familiesoverlook when hiring caregiver
the challenges in staffing withsolutions, of course.
Build trust first and the folksreaching out will follow.
Now you are a local business, soone of the things I would also

(22:37):
recommend is that you use somehashtags that are local to you.
So if you I always use Fairfax, for whatever reason, as an
example, if you are in theFairfax Virginia area, let's say
, use hashtag Fairfax or hashtagFairfax VA.
Localize every single post sothat people know where you are

(22:58):
and also reach out and talk tobusinesses in that local area.
Make sure you join groups thatare your local chamber of
commerce or local Fairfaxmeetups or whatever they are
that exist out there.
Be part of those local groups.
You never know where a lead'sgoing to come from or a referral
.
Everybody that's on LinkedIn orwho's paying attention has a

(23:20):
mother, a father, a grandparent, and so it might be somebody
who's a plumber that suddenlyneeds help for their mother.
If you are someone who's veryvisible out there, you may be
that first person they reach outto and say hey, I see you're
really good at this.
Here's what's happening at myhouse and you can help them with

(23:44):
some tips and maybe get somebusiness out of it.
Connect with referral partnersstrategically.
Search and connect withgeriatric care managers,
hospital discharge planners, elder law attorneys, senior
living marketing directors.
Comment on their stuff.
Before you send a messageMemorable, before you're salesy.
In other words, if you knowthat geriatric care manager is
in your wheelhouse somewhere inyour local area, comment on her

(24:08):
stuff.
I do this all the time.
I am constantly.
Now we're nationwide so itdoesn't matter to me, but I am
constantly commenting on otherpeople's wins, or maybe they
just put up some kind of eventthey attended or whatever.
I will try to comment somethinglike great job, this looks

(24:28):
great, how amazing, those are socute, so glad you guys got
together.
And if it's somebody local tome, there are several, lots of
local people on my I willcomment something that's more
local, like that makes moresense locally that we both know
about.
So be sure to hit up all thepeople in your local area and

(24:50):
you can search by location onLinkedIn.
You can search for people bylocation and just connect with
them.
All right, use video, even ifit's just you talking in your
car.
How many of you have noticedthat people sit in their car
with their seat belt on, notdriving, and they are talking to

(25:11):
you?
You know what?
Here's what I think especiallyif you have kids and dogs Dogs
it's the only place where youcan get a quiet moment.
You cannot get a quiet privatemoment anywhere, but in your car
.
As a mother or father but Iknow as a mom I could sit in the

(25:33):
car and talk to you all daybecause I'm not going to get
interrupted.
Maybe nobody knows where I amif I go park somewhere else and
I can just sit and talk to mycamera.
I don't have to worry aboutanything.
I can just go away, be quiet inthe library, parking lot,
wherever.
Use video.
Oh my God, you don't need fancygear.

(25:53):
You just need that phone that'sin your hand.
Video topics that crush what toask a home care agency before
you hire.
We talk about that all the time20 questions to ask a home care
agency before you hire them, why private caregivers can be
risky and how to protect yourloved one and subtitles.
People scroll silently whileavoiding actual work.
So at night when I am lookingat videos, I'm not trying to

(26:20):
avoid work, but I am trying toavoid bothering other people in
my house when they're asleep ormaybe they're watching a video,
and I don't want to turn mine ontoo.
So I love it when people havethe subtitles there so I can
just read what they're saying.
Not everybody does that, butthere are ways you can do that.
And you can also use otherplatforms If you like TikTok,

(26:43):
because it gives you a filterwhich I could use at all times.
If you like TikTok, because itgives you a filter, you can
record your on on using theTikTok app and just download it
to your phone and then justupload it to LinkedIn later.
You don't have to record itjust on your regular phone.

(27:05):
You can record it somewhereelse.
Save it to your phone and thenupload it to LinkedIn later and
that way you get the filter, because I'm gonna scare people
away if I'm not filtered.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
Anyway oh, you have a question.
Sorry, we have a question.
Yeah, how do we find local casemanager or discharge planner in
the facilities and I think youwere going to go live and
probably show that anyways, butin the search, Yep, I can show
you how to do that.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Engage to be seen like and comment on local
hospital rehab and healthcareleader posts.
I'm not looking to do businesswith Mercy Health System in St
Louis.
I just grew up there.
That's where I was a nurse fora long time.
So when they post something, Iusually comment and I'm like it.
But just because I like theMercy Health System and I still
know some of those faces Bevisible before you pitch.

(28:03):
So make sure you're givingsomeone love and comments and
goodness before you say hey, bythe way, give me that lead.
Also, comment on industry hottakes to join the conversation
and boost your reach, All right.
Oh, bonus, Use carousels anddocument posts.
You can upload PDFs as a swipethrough post.
It's great for the top 10 homesafety tips for seniors or a

(28:23):
checklist is your loved oneready for home care?
These posts get insaneengagement because people linger
.
They want to read the wholething.
All right, this I put up therebecause I wanted you guys to see
a couple of different things.
This is my tips and tricks.
You see how there's a bannerbehind my head.

(28:43):
Whatever organization you workfor right now, you should have a
banner behind your head.
If you work for yourself or youwork for ABC Home Care, you
should have something thatdenotes that you can change it
if you leave them.
But you need to have somethinglike that behind your head and
then this description right herelook at that.

(29:07):
Look at all these people whoare branding our business.
So if you have one of thesemade so you can see that our
graphic designer made these foreveryone.
So Dawn has one and that hasone mark, and so we all look the
same.
So anytime somebody isconversing with one of these
people, they see our website andthey see other things on there.

(29:30):
So that's great.
But also, I wanted to point outthis underneath this might be a
little overkill for you allunderneath my name, there's a
place like right here If you tapthe pencil, I think you can
edit this.
What I see a lot under here isand I'm going to show you this
is owner and that's it, and Idon't know what you're the owner

(29:51):
of.
I have no idea what you're.
You could be the owner of a cardealership.
I have no idea.
So put a description of whatyou do, who you are and who you
help right here.
All right, so let's go backhere.
So this is branding, with youcan have the same banner for
everybody, Okay, so here's mylittle example Use LinkedIn to

(30:12):
get in front of referral sources.
So, Christine Carter, I don'tknow Christine, sorry, Christine
, whoever you are, she's thechief nursing officer of what Of
what?
Of a home care agency, of anassisted living, of a nursing
home.
I don't know what she does fora living.
And this is another one, Amanda, she's a community liaison For

(30:33):
who of what?
So be sure to not just put thattitle there like that.
Like this one says LCSW at SSMHealth.
I know this person is acounselor at SSM Health, Real
estate agent at Laura McCarthyRealtors, I get it.
So be sure to complete thesentence of what or who, so that

(30:54):
when people look at you theyknow oh yeah, I know who that is
, or I know what organizationthat is.
And here's a couple of a couplemore that we picked out.
So for Dale, such a good sport.
Dale York is the founder andowner at Cardinal Home Care.
I want to mention to him thathe should probably add the

(31:16):
service area.
There's a lot of Cardinal HomeCares in the world.
But he probably I know it saysFairfax, Virginia, right there,
but in certain places onLinkedIn it doesn't show any of
that.
So I would put a few more wordsabout what Cardinal Home Care
does and the areas they serve, and this is good.
Julie Wagner, community liaisonhome care consultant at

(31:37):
AdvisaCare so you can see thesepeople.
I'm not a fan of Jim's a greatguy, care receiver and caregiver
.
I need more information.
Does he own a home care agency?
What does that mean to me as aconsumer?
So those are some of the thingsI'd want to know as a consumer.

(31:58):
So those are some of the thingsI'd want to know.
Also, here are some posts that Igrabbed from.
These are old posts, but thisis what it looks like when
you're actually doing engagingposts.
So you can see that Jim tookpictures of all these different
events they were at.
He tagged the otherorganizations, the Chamber of
Commerce, he tagged people inthis one.
That's how you get moreengagement Bring those people

(32:21):
with you into the post.
Dan Kowalski is tagged hereApplause.
Home Care is tagged here.
So you can just see how gettinginvolved this is a great
community involvement post.
He did the little league team.
That's cute.
Community involvement post hedid the little league team,
that's cute.
So I said I would go to realLinkedIn and show you a couple

(32:43):
of things.
All right, so here's myLinkedIn profile.
Can everybody see that I'llmake it big?
All right?
So right here you can see howit says 17 years home care
marketing and sales.
We help blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
So let's click on me.
This is a little different thanit was before 17 years home
care marketing and sales.
We help home care agencies getmore clients.

(33:04):
I put what we did, what we do.
I didn't say that I was theowner.
I don't care about that as much, but you can see that I still
have that banner there and youcan see my posts here and then
my experience.
But let's just go to oldLinkedIn.

(33:27):
Let's go to my network.
So this is how I look forpeople to connect with.
So I went up here to networkand it looks like Nina Haynes
accepted my oh, my invitation toattend the Science of Selling
Home Care.
Woohoo, that's a webinar wehave coming up.
So what I do is I look here andI say, okay, Lisa Swanson,
founder of Mobile One Docs LLC,I might want to connect with her

(33:49):
.
I'll send her a connect.
I never try to send people likea note or anything, because
that's annoying.
Vice President of Operations atFellowship not sure what that
is.
Also, if their picture ismissing, I don't, I'm not going
to deal with that.
Executive Director at BrookdaleSenior Living that might be
good for some of you A VISTASenior Living.

(34:09):
So people you may know based onyour recent activity you can go
through hospice care consultantshe might be a great one to.
Executive director home healthand hospice.
She might be a great one toconnect with.
Executive director at.
So see, these, these areindependent living.
These are people all overassisted living, all over the

(34:30):
place.
People you may know from homecare and healthcare advocacy.
Education coordinator atMissouri League of VP of sales
and marketing.
So here's one where you don'tknow what they're really doing.
Shannon Samuels is VP of salesand marketing for what I don't
know.
Executive director of what?
Put your stuff in there.
So anyway, that's how I lookaround.

(34:52):
See, is there anybody I mightwanna connect with today and
catch up with them?
Also, if you go to, that'sunder grow, Okay.
If you go to catch up, you cansee people who are like, if they
do have a job change, you cansend them a congrats on your new
role, if you care to, it'salready kind of written out for

(35:13):
you.
So if you wanted to do that, you could.
You can do birthdays.
You can say happy birthday topeople, work anniversaries.
You can go through here andcongratulate people on their
work anniversaries.
So there's lots of ways toreach out to people and say
hello, and how are you?
I also like to go tonotifications right here.

(35:35):
Hello, and how are you?
I also like to go tonotifications right here, and in
notifications I can see whatpeople in my group have posted.
And then I see this one,Valerie.
It's inspiring to see how ProofSenior Network transforms
operational challenges intogrows.
So I might want to saysomething back to him.
People commenting on my posts, people reposting our posts I can
see all the things that arehappening with my connections.

(35:55):
So how do I find people who arein my local area?
So what I'm going to do islet's see.
Let's go to home.

(36:20):
I'm going to search.
Let's see.
St Louis, oh Lord, St Louis.
If I just type in St Louis,it's going to ask me.
I want to see people, posts, jobs, companies, groups.
Let's try, St Louis.
This is why I use Fairfax, because where I live it's nobody
knows which way to do it, let'sdo Fairfax.
Knows which way to do it, let'sdo Fairfax.

(36:41):
Okay.
So I want to see people in theFairfax area and so if I go down
here I can see anybody who hastalked about Fairfax.
But let's see locations.
I can search by anyone inFairfax, Virginia current
company, I could say InovaFairfax Hospital.
It gives me a list.
So show results.
So now I can go through hereand see who I might want to

(37:07):
connect with that works atFairfax Nova Hospital.
So what I did was I juststarted with a typed in Fairfax
and then I got, I looked at forpeople and people who worked at
Inova Fairfax and then I wentthrough here and I can connect
with all of these people or anyof these people that I feel like

(37:30):
I might.
If I really want to get in withInova Fairfax, then I'm going
to keep looking for people likethis and if I go to all filters
I can see over here what I'mlooking for.
What about MedStar WashingtonHospital Center?
Or MedStar Georgetown, InovaHealth, Georgetown?
Okay, so show results.
So I've put all of them in theFairfax area or Northern

(37:53):
Virginia area.
Senior director of transplantoperations.
Registered nurse, registeredart therapist,
gastroenterologist, founder andCEO.
Some of them won't make anysense, but some of them will
make a lot of sense Clinicaleducators.
You see how I'm doing that Justsearching for the location and
the company they work for.

(38:13):
Location and the company theywork for.
If the company is not on thislist, I can just type in
whatever company it is that Iwant to.
I don't want, I just want Mercy.
Now it's going to say noresults.
Let's remove all filters andlet's see.
Let's go to people, but we wantto do current company.

(38:35):
Let's try mercy again.
Show results.
Okay, so everybody who's onlinkedin, who works at mercy is
going to be in here if theyhaven't have an account in here.
So that's a big health systemnear me.
Does that make sense?
Everybody, yeah, just startusing all these features.

(38:57):
All you have to do is connectand then watch your feed.
I used to say this and I stillbelieve it's true In the evening
, after dinner's overeverybody's quiet again for a
few minutes.
Get on your phone, make sureLinkedIn's on your phone and
just go through and connect withpeople.
You don't have to have a lot ofbrainwaves, you don't have to

(39:18):
make big comments, Just connectwith folks.
All right, if I don't stoptalking, I'm not going to leave
any.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
There's a there was one quick question.
Sorry about using your companypage or your personal.
Which is best?
Or how do they connect?

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Both.
So, personally, you want toconnect with as many people as
you can.
That makes sense for you toconnect with your company page.
So let's go to our company page.
Approve Senior Network.
Whoops, that wasn't what Imeant to do.
Let's go here.
I am admin of a lot becausethis is what we do, but let's go

(39:59):
to ours.
Hold on, sorry, takes a minute.
Here we go.
All right, here is my companypage, our company page, and what
I like to do is invitefollowers.
You need to invite people tofollow your page, invite
followers of similar.
You have 250, I get 250 invitesa month.

(40:23):
So maybe I want to invite somepeople, followers of similar
pages, which might not beexactly what I want, but I could
add some of these and ask themto follow my page.
Let's see current companies.
Let's look at my connections.
So here are my connections andI want to say current company is

(40:50):
right at home, show results,okay.
So I might want to invite thesepeople to follow my page and
the reason I want to do that.
So you can see some of thepeople I have invited are now
following me, so you can seethey're following.
It.
Won't let you continuouslyinvite people if you've already

(41:12):
done it.
So I'm going to ask thesepeople if they would like to
follow my page and I don't haveto say anything, I just say
invite 10.
And that's it, and I can keepdoing that up to 250.
So that's how I get people tofollow our page.
So if you want to see ouranalytics, I can click on

(41:35):
analytics right here and I cansee followers.
Right now we have 1,777followers.
You can tell I haven't beenpaying attention in the last 30
days, so we have 21 newfollowers, but we've had more in
previous months.
Let's see.
You can see where all of ourfollowers are.

(41:56):
So this is different thanpeople being connections with
you, and I can see all myfollowers here, so I can see a
lot of information about.
I want to grow this businesspage just as much as I want to
grow my personal audience.
So grow your personal brand and, at the same time, go in and,

(42:19):
at the bottom of the space, growyour followers.
Bye.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
Valerie, can I add something just real quick?
I don't know if you touched itor not.
Somebody had asked about how tofind out who's in the buildings
and how to reach people thatare in a skilled nursing
facility.
You can type the skillednursing facility in the search
bar, as long as people have saidthat's where they work.
Yeah, absolutely here, like I,I just did it.

(42:49):
Chandler, arizona.
There's one called desert covenursing and the don is listed.
So so know that you can do thattoo.
If you're not sure who works inthe building, this might be a
great way to find out.
So where is she?
I don't know if you're inChandler, but when I was in
Chandler they popped up.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
Just know that can you see Todd Corliss?
It says Life Care Centers ofAmerica, but it says current
chief executive director ofDesert Cove Nursing Center.
Life Care bought Desert Cove,so that's why they're so just be
sure to look.
Sometimes it'll pull up aperson who doesn't work there
anymore.
So just you know, you mightwant to click on them and find

(43:32):
out exactly what they're doing.
Css Pass director of rehabphysical therapist at Desert
Cove Nursing Center.
So this person may not workthere anymore.
So just, but you can see, Hello.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
Hi Vincent, here I got a quick insight.
Usually what I've been doingwhen I go on LinkedIn is I look
at the facilities in my area andthen I look for the websites on
LinkedIn and then I go topeople within that facility and
I'm able to pull the currentemployees.
Sometimes I pull past employees, but I've been trying to

(44:10):
connect that way.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
Yes, if I go to companies and I go to.
Desert Cove, Great Vincent.
You can also do it this way andyou can go to people.
Now the challenge is yeah, there you go.
They may or may not have.
You see how it says LinkedInmemory.
Some of them have said that, some of them have not.
So you may.

(44:32):
It may be a little bit hit ormiss here, but if you have a
really big facility, you'regoing to have a lot of people
that have said I work at onlinkedin.
Yeah, this is the other way todo it.
You can just go to theircompany page and yeah, and if
you see them walking the floor.

Speaker 5 (44:48):
Now you know what they look like yeah, yeah,
that's exactly the reason, because you can see who is to
the.
Yeah, see, hey, I know you fromsomewhere.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
Yes, do I know you Exactly, it's Vincent I like
that.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
He's in our sales training class and he's doing a
great job.
Thank you for that, Vincent.
Yeah, we have another question.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
Yeah, do you have access to all these features
without premium service?
I?

Speaker 1 (45:17):
do use premium, but you have access to a ton of
features without premium.
You're going to have to looklike this one is a premium,
invite followers of similarpages, but I didn't even like
that.
So you can see the ones thatare premium, but you can do a
ton at the free level.
In fact, I don't think I thinkI might be the only one that has

(45:38):
premium in our group, right?
Yes, I don't know?

Speaker 4 (45:40):
Yeah, I just use the search bar.
I don't use the filters.
I think they I don't know ifthat's premium- though, like
look to see who's looking at you.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Yeah, I could do mostly everything except see
who's spying on me.
Exactly, if you have premium, you can see who's looking at
your page.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Yeah, you can see who's looking at your page.
Yeah, I can see looking at mypage with.
Like all these people havelooked at my page recently and
that's, that's fine.
I don't care.
But look at annette stalking meright there always just kidding
, so always stalking I repostyour things.
That's why oh no, you can lookat me all day.
I I don't care.
But having said that, postimpressions.

(46:21):
There's so much you can dowithout.
You do not need premium to be awizard at this.
Most people don't have premium,so you just get that company
page up, make sure it's theright one, connect with the
right one and, if your businesshasn't claimed theirs, get it
jazzed up.

(46:41):
Your company page needs to lookreally good If you're going to
do that.
I don't know why this keepstaking me back to here.
Let's go to this.
That didn't help either.
How about this?
There we go.
So if I view it as a member, Iwant to see what other people
see, so you can see how our, ourbrand kind of colors and things

(47:03):
are in there.
This is what the home page ofour website look like.
I probably need to update thata little bit and you can just
get a good idea of how otherpeople view All your things On
your company page.
But do post on your companypage, post on your personal page
or share from one to the other.
So yeah, and video is whereit's at, so I'm going to give

(47:27):
this back to lisa lisa, thankyou.

Speaker 4 (47:33):
Okay, I'm home to a marketing.
Is this where I'm starting?
Yeah, okay.
So if you guys aren't familiaryet, we, oh Whoa, all right,
there we go, it's okay.
We wanted to put everything inone place for you so that you
don't have to go search andprice check and all of that.
So I, we really try to makesure that we're looking at like

(47:53):
things that are like under adollar or something like that
for each time that you go out.
If you go tohomecaremarketingnewscom store,
you can go on to March, april, may, june click on those there
and you will be able to seeanything that we went and found
to go with some of the leavebehind.
So these are the inexpensivelittle giveaways to take out
with those things.

(48:14):
Okay, so you can go there.
You don't have to go there.
We just thought that we woulddo that.
So you guys have like aone-stop shop.
You can go anywhere to buy thisstuff, though March leave
behind.
Winner Fahima with Incredicare.
This is absolutely adorable.
I love these little wateringcans.
Oh, my gosh, let's growtogether.
This is super cute and, ofcourse, pinch protection is

(48:36):
always cool.
Really good, really good job,awesome.
So what do we?
do what do we do?

Speaker 1 (48:41):
for the heat chemo.
We just put her logo andinformation on.
She printed them out and stuckthem on stuff she did.
She got all the stuff how cuteis that little.

Speaker 4 (48:54):
Oh my gosh, that's adorable, that's adorable water.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
A little watering can love it very cool.

Speaker 4 (49:03):
So see, you can take our ideas and run with them,
right?
So this is really cool, awesome, cool.
Good job, fahima.
Okay, next slide.
Okay.
So it's still March, right?
So you guys have a couple ofdays left.
I would say, just get out there.
Any social workers that you getto talk to at all, go out and
let them know that youappreciate all they do and ask
them how you can take off theirplate or you can get patients

(49:25):
home safely A couple more days.
I would definitely go out andtell them thank you and that you
appreciate them.
We still have these here on thestore as well.
Here you have these little meshzipper pouches.
So I actually ordered some andI got the wrong size.
I got the ginormous one, butthey work.
They're just large.
I thought they were going to bea lot smaller.

(49:46):
I got the wrong size.
So there's like A4, a3.
Don't get A4.
And then I have a ton of themand here's some social work
stickers.
They're just really cute.
Annette has used these in thepast and I think pairing them
together is a really cute ideato go take out when you're
saying you appreciate them.
We want to come up withpractical things that I think
they'll use.

(50:06):
April again I'm not going to gothrough these too much because
we're going to run out of timehere, but planting seeds of
support helps patients thrive athome National Garden Month so
we want to let them know littlemessages here and there about
what we do April leave behind.
Oh yeah, blooming seed Okay.
So I've never seen these beforethese are super cute until I

(50:26):
found them online.
But these, you, there's seedsinside these little cute papers
and you just soak them for a secand they will bloom into
beautiful flowers or whatever itis.
And then these little, thoselittle things Okay, we want to
vitamin C.
You stay healthy.
Boom.
This is a really easy one.
I used to do this back in theday before I knew how to use
Canva, and I would just take athing of oranges or cuties and

(50:47):
tell people this to their faceand they it was corny, yes, but
they loved it and you can pairthis with anything like this
water and little hydration stuff, and I actually reused this in
another slide for hydration daycoming up in June.
But I think it's always a goodthing to make sure we're taking
care of our referral partnersand making sure they hydrate,
because I know they don't drinkwater, they drink coffee, and

(51:09):
lots of it.
Another one last minutedischarges got your feathers
ruffled.
We're ready to spring intoaction.
We're no chickens, but takethis out.
This is for spring and parentwith.
Next slide here.
Just cute little bunnies on topof a carrot pen, some little
spring flower shaped stickynotes, anything like that.

(51:30):
You can come up.
We really want to see what youguys come up with too.
These are just, again, ideasyou can use.
Next one Okay, another May thescript on aging 20 ways to keep
seniors young at heart.
So this one is going to be.
It's really designed to bringpeople out social worker, out
director of nursing, out to talkto you.
So you want them to know thatyou've got something exciting to

(51:51):
show them that you can sharewith families when they come in,
or even put it into theonboarding packaging or new
move-ins.
Right, lots of different littleideas here.
Yeah, and we can skip this.
I just wanted to line item it alittle bigger for you so you
could see what it was NursesWeek.
Don't forget May 6th and May12th.
Make sure you go out and tellthem thank you.

(52:12):
Next slide I'm going to try togo through really fast.
All of this is adorbs.
I was really getting into it,but you can go into the store
and find all these cute littlethings.
I thought these little strawcovers were really cute because
I just wouldn't want all thosegerms going into my drinks.
I love these.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
My kids love these.
Have them for Christmas.
These are nice little strawcovers.

Speaker 4 (52:35):
Yeah, yeah.
They're really cute andfunctional, right?
Someone would appreciate this.
Go ahead and celebrate mother'sday as well in may.
Take these out, and a lot ofthese are, I feel like,
interchangeable.
We use these for a lot ofdifferent things, but eye mask,
steam mask, hand and foot masks.
Now you put them in a littlebaggie with your logo and you're
good to go.
This one is protect your skinit's skin cancer awareness month

(52:57):
, also in may, and so we pairedthese with, and you're good to
go.
This one is Protect your Skin.
It's Skin Cancer AwarenessMonth, also in May, and so we
paired these with these littlestickies that change color when
you've had too much sunshine, sothey're clear or white before
you go out and they turn purpleonce you have too many rays.
And there's all these differentones, not just smileys and
hearts, but there's likedinosaurs and you name it.
They're really cute.
They really stepped it up.

(53:19):
Okay, this one home care youcan wager on.
It's a Kentucky Derby and theguys really wanted this.
A lot of our guys are like youknow that stuff is really
flowery, so could you dosomething cool like this?
So I thought this was reallycool and I hope everyone uses it
and takes pictures and shows us, and although some of these

(53:42):
were like for weddings, I thinkthat it I just really liked the
horseshoe feel and nothing saysweddings.
I think it's cute.
It just says thank you forcelebrating with us, or
something like that.
You can remove that if itdoesn't make sense for you and
just add this little horseshoeto your leave behind, maybe put
a ribbon through and carry it.
Okay, june leave behind.

(54:03):
So another one.
I keep reading the June leavebehind.
I don't know why.
It's national safety month, andso this one, this the idea for
this is to get the social workerto come out and speak with you
about safety month and how youcan help their patients get home
safely, and maybe try sayingsomething like this Don't help
me with this one.
June is safety month and howyou can help their patients get
home safely, and maybe trysaying something like this Don
help me with this one.
June is safety month and we havesomething for you and your
patients I'd like to share withyou.

(54:24):
Get them to come out, talk tothem, give them this flyer.
They can use this flyer to showfamilies.
This is just a snippet of achecklist that we're going to go
through.
And then, if you go to the nextslide, I thought that this
giving the social workersomething that they can use in
their office where they spend alot of their day these silicone
cord, the cable cord organizersso that there's no trips, no

(54:47):

everything just right therewhere they need it.
They're not to trip and falland over these things, so
thought this would be useful forthem.

their pocket or leave in theircar.

Speaker 3 (55:18):

Speaker 1 (55:19):
Dad jokes are all the rage.

Speaker 4 (55:22):
Yeah, they don't even have to be dad jokes, they're
just cool jokes, okay, and then, yeah, and then National
Hydration Day.
I know I had to bring it back,I just felt like it, but I made
it yellow and blue instead.
But it can pair with theselittle single guys here, or you
can take the whole case out andgive them a couple boxes of
these, but it's really importantto stay hydrated.

(55:44):

I have no idea.
I haven't used one in forever.

Speaker 1 (56:25):
I think the flashlights are pretty cool,
though, yeah.

wondering, and they had otherones too.

Wow, and that's my last slide.
It won't go any further thanthat.
That's it.

Speaker 4 (58:41):
Awesome Any other questions.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
Someone did ask how do you connect your personal
contacts with your companyfollowers on LinkedIn?

Speaker 1 (58:53):
How do you connect your personal contacts with your
company?

Speaker 2 (58:57):
I think she means, like, if you have your personal
LinkedIn and your company, howdo you get the same people on
both?
Do you link them or do you haveto get separate?

Speaker 1 (59:06):
No, you want to invite your connection.
So you need to get as manyconnections as you can, and
every time you get a connectionthen you invite them to follow
your business page.
So connections come first andthen you can invite them to
follow your business page.
So connections come first andthen you can invite them to
follow.
So what I see happening is ifsomebody reaches out to me for a
connection and I say yes, I login a couple of days later and

(59:28):
that person is now inviting meto follow their page and I say
yes to that as well.
So get your connections firstand then invite them to follow
your page.
If you already have connections, just go to your business page
and it'll go somewhere andthey'll be.
It'll say invite and you caninvite people to follow your
page.

Speaker 4 (59:48):
It gives you, like a bank kind of 150 invites you can
use.
Is it monthly?
I think it's monthly.

Speaker 1 (59:54):
Yes, every month you get a renewed amount.
They govern it, governor, theyhave a governor on it.
Yes, every month you get arenewed amount.
They govern it, governor, theyhave a governor on it.
Mine is $250 per month that Ican invite.
Same thing with your newsletter.
If you decide to do anewsletter, you have a certain
amount you can invite to followyour newsletter and we have
about almost 2,000 following ournewsletter, 1,700 for our page.

(01:00:16):
And then, yeah, I have a lot ofpeople in my, but I'm old and
I've been around the block for along time.
So anyway, we love you.
Yeah, oh, thanks, all right, Ithink that's it.
I hope everybody got a goodlesson about LinkedIn.
It is your go-to go to it andtag your colleagues and get out

(01:00:38):
there and do some communityoutreach and put lesson about
LinkedIn.
It is your go-to Go to it andtag your colleagues and get out
there and do some communityoutreach and put it on LinkedIn.
It'll work.
