We find ourselves in the middle of a pandemic, and schools are responding to the COVID-19 crisis in a variety of ways to design and promote remote learning opportunities for students and families.
This is one of those times that the phrased "uncharted territory" is really accurate for all involved. Transitioning from site-based learning institutions to distance learning in all kinds of homes in school districts with tens of thousands of students is a monumental task, and especially when it has to be done quickly!
Grace and patience and curiosity need to reign supreme at a time like this. This challenge is the opportunity for school districts to work together, educators from all over to learn from one another, and model a sense of collaboration and community to the generation we teach. This is not the time for competition and fear and self-preservation to guide our decision-making. "Kids first" should not just be a mantra. It should be our priority right now, and to put kids first means that any sense of "I hope we do it better than they do it" has to be thrown out the window.
On top of that, there is some cool stuff in John 12, too.
