Don Armstrong (00:10):
time now for this hour's car review.
I had a chance to drive the2024 chevrolet blazer ev.
Comes in two trim levels the2lt and the r.
There's more to come later, butright now that's it Reviewed
trim level is the RS all-wheeldrive.

(00:31):
This is considered by thegovernment a small SUV.
I say it's a midsize.
It's a two-row, five-seat SUV.
Exterior changes the Blazer hasnothing in common.
This Blazer has nothing incommon.
This blazer has nothing incommon with the gasoline engine
blazer.
Okay, this is completelydifferent.

(00:51):
And here they go again usingthe name that they've already
got, kind of like ford did withthe mustang.
Yeah, the machi, yeah, pleasecome on.
Uh, by the way, it what wedidn't know?
I didn't know until I starteddoing the research on this that
this Blazer is on the sameplatform as the Cadillac Lyric.

(01:15):
What, oh?
I didn't know that that's aCadillac Lyric.
It's not that big.
Well, platform-wise yeah, platform is the same as the
Cadillac Lyric.
Wow, that's a shock.
And it's also the platform forthe Chevy Equinox EV.
So they're using the same namesbut they're different vehicles.
Well, the frame must have to bea certain build to do that.

(01:37):
Well, yeah, that's thatskateboard thing.
I understand now.
Exterior features sleek-lookingfront fender-to-fender
lightning-fast thing it looksgood.
Sloping rear roofline with tinyrear hatch glass.
Tri-tail lights.
Faux brake ducts on the frontfenders, which is a different

(01:57):
kind of take when it comes tobrake ducting, faux anything.
What I liked about it theunique modern sheet metal.
This thing looks good, in myopinion.
Interior highlights contrastingtwo-tone colors make the
interior pop on this Biginfotainment screen that's easy
to use.
General Motors in general hasreally stepped up to the plate

(02:19):
when it comes to theirinfotainment system.
Comfortable seating with uniquematerials on it has really
stepped up to the plate when itcomes to their infotainment
system.
Comfortable seating with uniquematerials on it.
Big center console for storage.
Cargo trunk room is adequate, nothing out of the ordinary, but
it matches up with othervehicles in its class.
What I liked about it top-notchstuff.

(02:39):
And it is a Chevy.
It does not look like a Chevywhen you get inside of it.
It's first class all the way.
I'm telling you what could useimprovement nothing.
It's beautiful, I think.
Um, engine this is a two motorelectric, so it's got motors in
the front and the rear in thisone.
Now, miles per gallon.

(03:01):
It's kind of weird the way thatthey formulate this, but city
103, and the highway iscomparable to 88 miles per
gallon for a combined of 96.
It gets 300 miles on a singlecharge.
What I liked about it themileage and plugging it into the
110-volt house AC worked for my60-mile round trip back and

(03:23):
forth.
So I plug it in at work.
Charge is there, plug it athome.
It works here.
Now, if I were going to drive300 miles on it that wouldn't
work.
So there's that.
As far as other things, 30minutes with the owner's manual
to find a button to turn off theheadlight flash that sat in the

(03:44):
driveway and flashed all nightlong indicating the car is
charging.
So you have to drill down intothe menu to turn that feature
off.
Why would you have that featureanyway?
It's strictly a PR thing, Ithink, but the whole night long
I thought it's going to storm.
I look out and see through theblinds.
You know the flashing lights inthe driveway.
Yeah, you thought it was.
I think it's going to be astorm.

(04:05):
No, it's the car, because I'vegot it plugged in.
Who dreamt that up?
Put a little dot on the dash.
It gets A-plus for the ride.
Quality Okay, comfortable ride, handles well, a-plus all the
way on this car Base trim price$56,200.
Prices tested $60,710.

(04:26):
Base model price $48,800.
Competitors Mustang Mach-E$39,995 is where it starts.
Tesla Model Y starts at $42,990, and the Kia EV6 starts at
$42,600.
That's my review of the 2024Blazer EV RS all-wheel drive.

(04:47):
Go check it out.
I think that you'll beimpressed as well.
If you're looking for anelectric, you wouldn't compare
that to the Cadillac version.
Well, I haven't driven theCadillac version, and yes, but
it's the same vehicle.
Yeah, okay.
What was the range on this one?
Did it say 300 miles?
Okay, 300 miles.
Yeah, all right.
